#kidney disease SOUNDS bad but I don’t think it’s terrible!

My sense of smell is so acute I can smell what mood people are in sometimes, whether they’re hurt or sick, and sometimes what medication they’re taking or what deficiencies they have.

Stress and anxiety have a smell. Horny definitely has a smell. Happy has a smell. Anger has a smell. Sadness has a smell. Grief has a smell that’s kinda unique and honestly I don’t know why.

Each person is different in their base scent but everyone has variations on these moods.

I also mentally catalog these for each person I expect to be around. I can’t always smell it before it appears and the scents are not specific to more nuanced emotions but it does kinda give me a ballpark, assuming I’ve been exposed to them in that mood and had enough chances to catalog it.

I’m autistic and honestly not that great at reading expressions because I hardly ever look at people’s faces. I’m also auditory handicapped in this regard cause I can’t hear the difference between a joke, a lighthearted comment or a serious thing. A person can sound very mean to my ears that has good intentions.

So scent has become my crutch for understanding and identifying people. I’ll know your scent long before I remember your face or name.

Perk of this super sensitive nose kind of is that I can smell sickness too. My mother used to think I was crazy. But I can smell when people are sick; I live with a tenant who has hemophilia, and I can smell it. I can smell any time he’s been sitting somewhere for a minute because his scent is so distinctive (and to me, unpleasant). His medicine gives him a funny smell too, when he bothers to take it. There used to be a tenant downstairs who also had a blood disorder in the polar opposite direction. He had to take blood thinners for life. He doesn’t smell that bad, but lord warfarin smells god awful. I knew every time he’d just taken it because it made him reek like slightly spoiled blood. No exaggeration. My brother in law, the good one, developed kidney disease; I smelled it on him. It makes a person smell toxic, for lack of a better word.

I can tell when my fiancé is about to be sick by his smell too. It changes when he’s nauseous. I don’t know how. But it does.

I can also unfortunately smell blood from across a room in the right circumstances. I am forever aware of who is having their menarche whether I want to or not. It’s honestly pretty terrible.

And lord don’t get me started about infections. Or spoiled food. I am my households tester for anything suspicious, especially meat or injuries that are “suspiciously angry” lol.

Time to overshare onliiiiiiiiine! 🎶

I got my blood test back!! I do have a few levels that aren’t right, bilirubin (to be expected! I’ve got Gilbert’s syndrome so that’s normal), insufficient vitamin d (lol), aaaaand then a few things that indicate kidney disease or a possible kidney infection. Which the kidney disease would explain the infrequent kidney pain I’ve been having for… like a decade…. But I’m a little 🤔 about the results, because being dehydration can also cause those results. But I drank a lot of water the day before and the day of to make sure I *wouldnt* be dehydrated and could actually pee for my urine test lol. So I don’t think it makes sense for me to be dehydrated! And if I am, why tf is this water not hydrating me? That doesn’t really make sense. So idk! But I’ve gotten some answers for once so that’s definitely a step in the right direction : D

When sun is in the first house of a birth chart, the person may be heavily influenced by their father. They may look like their father or have a similar personality. Such people tend to be perfectionists, its their way or the highway. They may have a tendency to gain weight easily, however if its in scorpio then they’ll dramatically shed it and gain it, in a loop. They are extremely magnetic people. They may deal with foreigners on a regular basis, or speak a foreign language. They may deal with the government very often and may work for the government as diplomats. They may obtain their higher education abroad. They can remain quite childlike till much older. They can be very protective of their community, traditions and religion, and aim to spread awareness about it. You’ll have nightmares and premonitions about death and illness. You might be very very fond of gold or golden colours. You will be argumentative.

Moon in the first house-

When moon is in the first house of a birth chart, the person is heavily influenced by their mother. They may resemble their mother or have a similar personality. Such people are extremely moody and are always preoccupied with other’s opinion of them. They may have a tendency to fluctuate between their body weight, and are likely to have body dysmorphia. They have short necks and generally are short in height too. They’re very critical and over-analyze everything and everyone. Sometimes, even unconsciously, they manipulate people to suit their needs and whims. They get side tracked too often and have difficulty focussing on one task at hand, often amounting to laziness in other people’s eyes, even if the native is extremely hardworking in reality. However when in comes to personal care, they tend to do things in a very half-hearted manner. These people are also prone to isolating themselves from others, especially when things get hard. Such  people tend to be famous or popular in friend circles, or at the very least well known. They can be extremely picky people and often can be obsessive in their thoughts. They may follow their mother’s footpath professionally, and may want to pursue fields related to law, beauty/architecture and biology. Their mother’s were very involved in their life. Such people are always on the internet trying to look up astrology posts, tarot, etc. They like knowing whats going to happen and like to be prepared for it. They can be extremely manipulative when they want to be. They may see a lot of prophetic dreams, and their mother or them often have pressure buildup in their ears or can hear random sounds or voices. They enjoy looking at stars and the night sky. They enjoy a strange fascination for water and looking at people’s eyes. They could be into massaging people or have ‘healing hands’, or their mother could.

Venus in the first house-

When Venus is in the first house of a birth chart, the person is heavily influenced by their colleagues, significant others, or their families. They’re extremely swayed by people’s opinions of them, and often because of this are very unsure in their abilities. Big doe-like yes are often seen with this, and an inmate ability to gain beer-blotches on their face. They attract people to them. They may have bad relationships with their families, and their mother could have had a miscarriage just before them. They can be hyper sensitive regarding taste, smell and sound. They may be excellent singers or play musical instruments. They dress up glamorously for parties, but when at home or alone, they’re usually roaming around like they’re homeless. They suffer depression if they’re not looking their best even, heavily into working out and grooming. They may be extremely religious or spiritual and may mediate a lot. They explain concepts very well and can be some of the best teachers around. They usually attract female friends. They love the smell of musk and love digging deep and researching, even stalking. They could be into ancient civilizations and history, photography and art, gardening and plants, fascinated with concepts of violence and death. Mercury in the first house-

When mercury is in the first house of a birth chart, the person is heavily influenced by what extended family or acquaintances think of them. Such people are also very concerned about their health, and can be hypochondriacs. They may also at all times think that people hate them, without any reason. They could be great speakers or orators or writers. They can have a great imagination, that is extremely vivid and unique, especially as a kid. They may want to pursue careers related to beauty with such a positioning, or even theatre or music. They may have a very unique appearance, and may appear androgynous. For women, they could look like their fathers, and for men, they can look like their mothers. They may be into research and like getting to the bottom of a matter. They may always have this appearance of half-closed eyes, they never open them fully. This gives them this drowsy look. They love making spread-sheets and calculating their expenses. Saturn in the first house-

When Saturn is in the first house of a birth chart, it makes people extremely unconventional and almost a social outcaste. They can sometimes have these half shut lazy eyes, where their eyelid is heavy and big, and they always appear to be drowsy. They may be alarmingly fond of animals, especially large wild animals. Also they’re absolute perfectionists, they just get up and destroy the things they created and don’t like. Also rain or thunder ASMR. They’re also neat freaks, they like their stuff kept a particular way and don’t go around cleaning their room or touching stuff. They are usually influenced by their mother and are quite close to them, unless you’re born in the evening or night time, then you’re absolutely like your father, resemble him and act like him. They may hear a lot of sounds very regularly, in their head. Could be schizophrenic or just hear loud thumping sounds. They do have old-soul personalities though. They love doing volunteer work at shelters and looking out for the underprivileged. Their upbringing could have been strict. They suffer through a lot of ups and downs in life. Usually this gives an innate ability to lose weight and appear rather slender, also tall. This usually gives some kind of unique features to the face, large eyebrows, pointy cheekbones, small mouths, exaggerated features and this kind of drugged up look in their eyes. For women, this gives a curvy look to the body, with great breasts (in relation to proportions). People love cheese here, also they are great with children. They get blamed for cheating or other issues when they haven’t done it. You go against dogmatic thinking. You may attract men and women. Great looking feet and omg the obsession with shoes? Stop it already, you don’t need more. Also stop looking at the watch and making schedules, stop being obsessed with time, or really stop procrastinating.

Jupiter in the first house-

When Jupiter is in the first house of a chart, one is usually undeniably lucky in life. People with this placement tend to be tall, and if not then they have a big bone structure. They will have beautiful feet. They gain weight easily. They are heavily influenced by their fathers and spouses. They like scholarly debates and discussions and dislike arguments. They are fond of foreign cultures and the other dimensions, they believe in religious interventions and god. They can be a bit conservative in nature. They were either born in a comfortably rich household or will have it later. They or their parents own more than one property. Today was just terrible for the young yakusa boss.

Everthing seemed to go wrong and with the objective of anger him.

Experiments went wrong, he had to talk with some heroes that were at his back, failed texts, precepts just wouldn't do what he demanded and always messed up and with an cherry on top Rappa insisted on going on a fight with him, Chisaki was already irritaded and with no seconds thoughts overhauled the man before putting him back together.

Moments like these he thanked the heavens for bringing you in his live, because he was clearly certain that without your calm and understanding presence, he would just combust and become an killing machine out of his anger.

He entered the room and was dissapointmented when he didn't saw your figurine waiting from him inside your shared bedroom... His annoyance grew along with his worry when he checked his phone and no warnings about you going out were there.

And it didn't help when it was eleven at clock...

A wave of calm surrounded him when he heard the sounds of water and your humming coming from his closed bathroom.

He knocked on the door; providing any uncomfortable scenes; and shortly after heard your melodic voice saying that he could come in.

"You're an idiot, what if it wasn't me?" He sayed irritaded as he closed the door behing him and saw one scene that he swears it took his breath away.

You, with eyes pleasantly closed, layed on the bathtub surrounded by bubbles hidding most of your figurine as the scent of vannila and lavender surrounded the bathroom.

"We all know that no one would have courage to enter your room at this time of night my love..." you sighed with an smile, your eyes still closed.

He scoffed as he sitted on the edge of the tub, taking a moment to look at your angelic figurine completely relaxed...

"You seem tense." You creaked an eye open worriedly "Rough day?"

"Nothing that I can't handle it." He stated averting his eyes to the door. You hummed while you dried your hands with an near towel and touched his shoulder.

He flinched at the sudden contact but calmed down shortly after.

"Well, you're definitely are tense." You carresed his shoulder gently with one hand while the other scratched near his pierced ear, making him shiver as he threw an glare at you.

"These nails are better be clean." He groaned

"Relax love, my boyfriend demands everday any type of cleaning." You mocked him as he scoffed once again.

"Want to switch places? Hot water helps with sore and tense muscles..." he sighed in annoyance.

"No. Knowing you, you just entered." He said while taking off his mask to breath in the the warm steam that enveloped the entire room along with the smells of lavender and vanilla.

No germs or diseases... Perfect.

"So how about you join me?" He threw another glare at you, arching one of his eyebrowns.

"Wow, someone is grumpy today." You giggled while he groaned "Kai is just an invitation, I'm not forcing you... its not like you would follow orders anyway." You laughed quietly as you layed back on the tub.

How could you possibly offer this? The idea was just so... uncomfortable, embarrassing... but you seemed really relaxed at there.

Ah shit, now he was missing the feeling of your slight scratch in his ear and your touch in his shoulder.

"Honestly? I hate you." He said picking up his mask and marching his way out of the bathroom.

You stared questionably at your door, but you just shrugged off, you're dating Kai Chisaki so his reaction after that ofter Isn't exactly a surprise... You closed your eyes already thinking on an apology to say it to him later.

Chisaki came back shortly after, holding in one hand two glasses while the other holded an very expensive bottle of wine; the ones which costs more than one kidney to pay because he is a spoiled brat.

He placed the itens on the ground before staring you down in annoyance.

"Damn you for making me do this." He sighed as he slowly unbuttoned his black dress T-shirt.

"But I just said that I'm not obli-" hee interrupted you murmuring a 'shut it' as he finally undressed himself and steped on the tub cautiously.

He looked up at the xeiling as he slowly layed down in front of you.

"The water is burning." He complained, never making any efforts to look at you "What's with the bubbles anyway? So unnecessary..."

Oh god... that pink on his cheeks was a clear evidence on what you were suspecting. He was shy! How you wished you had a camera to record this moment.

You giggled as you picked up the glasses and the bottle, serving you both, but in more quantity for him since he looked completely drained out.

"Well, you bought for me remember? I just looked at it because I found it cute, and you just grabbed and payed it for it." You laughed at the memory offering him his glass and with an groan he accepted it.

With one or two shouts, his whole glass of wine was gone, he shugged down like he was an starving man on the dessert looking for water.

"Geez Kai, take it easy." You worriedly comented while he put the glass back to the ground.

"Have a day like I had than you can say something about it angel." He comented with a groggy voice. The wine was really strong oh boy.

"What happened today love? It was that bad?"

"My god, don't even get me started it..." he started to rant about his displeasures and now you knew you could only nod in understanding and agree with whatever he said, taking small sips from your own glass. He just needed to vent for now and you were definitely okay with that.

Suddenly an idea popped into your head as you plaved down your empty glass.

"Kai can I wash your hair?"

His eyes widened for a bit as he finally looked at you, soon after he glared daggers at you.

"Do I look like I can't do it myself?" He groaned as you smiled in hopeless.

"Just offered it, hon." You layed back in your head closing your eyes.

Chisaki stared at you for a while before sighing in irritation, turning on his back as he layed in your form, making you yelp at his sudden movement.

"Tell this to anyone and I-"

"Have a bit of faith in me c'mon!" You giggled excitedly as you picked his bottle and put an generous amount on your palm.

He trusted you with his whole life but he couldn't help it, this situation was extremely new for him and combining with the horrible and exausted day he had, his actions and words were harsh... And he knew he was an completely asshole to you...

And yet here you were, massaging with your gentle fingers his scalp without a worry and even humming an melody.

He stared at his front, completly confused and angry at himself for enjoying this and for threating you like he did...

The slow movement of your delicate fingers made his shoulders sag and his eyes close in pure bliss as he secretly enjoyed accepted the new form of attention.

He closed his eyes tightly when the water dropped in his head, preventing any soap spills from entering his eyes.

"There." You gently carresed his shoulders, noticing that they were no longer tense "Your punishment is over." You giggled when he groaned, but he made no moves to get away from you.

You stared in confusion Chisaki; who had his eyes closed and both of his forearms resting on the both sides of the edges of the bath tub; still not making a move to get out.

"Kai?" You gently traced your fingers underwater on his sides to get his attention, noticing his shiver. He crooked one eye open and looked at you questionably.

"Already done." After a few seconds he finally sighed while nodding, lifting himself and turning to be in front of you again.

Had to take away his little peace of heaven?

"Turn around." He comanded, making you tilt your head in confusion. "Turn around." He said more firmly and you quickly obey.

After a few seconds you feel both of his arms cautiously circle your waist and push you against him. You yelped quietly at the action and questionably looked at Chisaki

He didn't say absolutely nothing, opting to just sigh in relief as he layed down bringing you with him.

You finally relaxed and rested your head on the crook of your boyfriends neck, enjoying this rare moment feeling his steady heartbeat.

"We should leave soon, the skin gets wrinkled if it stays in the water for a long time." You commented.

Chisaki hummed in understatement as he placed an amount of bubbles in the top of your head gently.

"Five minutes, then we're out." He stated returning his tigh embrace.

You agreed and let him seek the comfort he was needing...

While it’s a complex pathway, the keto flu is largely driven by two forces unique to the ketogenic diet: a reduction in overall electrolyte intake and the diuretic nature of the diet. As mentioned above, most people consume more carbs by calorie content than any other macronutrient, and most of those carbs come from low-quality, processed sources. Ironically, when we remove these foods from our diet, we actually precipitously decrease our overall sodium intake. And since sodium is an electrolyte, this can lead very quickly to an electrolyte deficiency and trigger the keto flu. Second, as you cut carbohydrates out of your diet and move your body towards ketosis, insulin levels drop, signaling the kidneys to release water and vital electrolytes like sodium and potassium. This molecular pathway is what makes the ketogenic diet diuretic in nature; the sudden drop in insulin triggers the kidneys to release water and electrolytes through increased urine production.

While the keto flu is a completely normal reaction to the ketogenic diet, there are long-term risks to not addressing the condition. In all likelihood, symptoms will persist until you address them, so they could last over the entire life of the ketogenic diet if you don’t take action. Sounds miserable! The keto flu can also lead to sleep disturbances and an elevated heart rate, which is a side effect of your body’s attempts to retain sodium through the release of adrenal hormones. Finally, if left untreated for a long period of time, the keto flu could lead to bone mineral loss or osteoporosis. Our bones are one of the core areas where we store sodium and, if the keto flu is left unchecked, your body could start to leach calcium, along with sodium, from your bones.

If you find yourself to be especially sensitive to the ketogenic diet, you can also ease your transition into ketosis by slowly reducing carbohydrates rather than going cold turkey on day one.

Remedies for the Keto Flu

Replacing the electrolytes your body has lost is the single most important thing you can do to combat or prevent the symptoms of the keto flu. This means ensuring you consume adequate levels of sodium, potassium, and magnesium either from food sources or through supplementation. We will address exactly what we mean by “adequate levels” in a moment, but for now, we’d like to propose some simple ways to increase your intake of electrolytes:

1. Salt Your Food

Salt your food. Even if it feels weird or gustatorily challenging to salt a salad, try it. It’s critically important that you increase salt consumption on the ketogenic diet, as most of the foods on the menu will not have naturally-occurring sodium at adequate levels. Any kind of table salt will do, but if you have a personal preference for one type over the other, no problem! Just salt your food.

However, it’s also important to remember that sodium is not the only electrolyte that needs to be kept in balance on a ketogenic diet. Magnesium and potassium are both critically important electrolytes that we should pay attention to as well. Fortunately, a well-formulated ketogenic diet that is high in healthful fats and plant-based foods often provides enough of these two electrolytes. Specifically, magnesium can be derived from avocados, almonds, bananas, and leafy greens, while sweet potatoes, spinach, butternut squash, and beets are all great sources of potassium.

2. Consume Bone Broth

There is a robust body of scientific research that has identified bone broth as an incredibly healthy, nutrient-packed superfood. Bone broth is made by simmering the bones and connective tissues of an animal for a long period of time–generally between ten and twenty hours–which is what separates it from the standard broth or stock found in most grocery stores. Cooking for such an extended period of time allows the broth to absorb the collagen, glutamine, and other minerals that give bone broth its rich nutrient density that is commonly touted for its benefits for the gut, joints, skin, and overall health.

Furthermore, while bone broth is a decent source of sodium on its own, it’s very easy (and recommended) to add salt or a bouillon cube to turn it into a keto flu-busting intervention.

3. Make Electrolyte Homebrews

You should never turn to sugary sports drinks to combat the keto flu. Unfortunately, all of the traditional electrolyte products on the market have insufficient levels of actual electrolytes and are very high in sugar. This sudden burst of electrolyte-less sugar will spike insulin levels and derail your path to ketogenesis. Despite their catchy marketing campaigns, endorsement deals with famous athletes, and sponsorships of virtually every visible sporting event, these drinks are not your friend and should be avoided regardless of whether or not you adhere to a ketogenic diet.

This is why I spent years mixing up homebrew concoctions with ingredients from my own pantry. With some trial and error, I was able to design a few great do-it-yourself drink recipes for those who are more inclined to mix up their own keto flu-killing concoctions. 4. Drink LMNT Recharge

After years of tinkering with homebrew recipes–some of which were way off the mark!–and waiting for someone to develop and release an electrolyte product that wasn’t bathed in sugar, I finally decided to do something about this problem. How Much Sodium Is Too Much Sodium?

For the last three decades, we’ve all been told that we need to reduce sodium intake to control blood pressure, and current recommendations call for 1.5 to 2.3 grams of sodium per day. However, a 2011 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association painted a much different picture of sodium consumption. This study, which sought to correlate sodium intake with cardiovascular incidents like strokes and heart attacks, found that the lowest rate of these events actually occurred in people consuming five grams of sodium per day. That’s more than double the recommended daily intake! Furthermore, an individual had to consumer eight grams of sodium per day to reach the same problematic levels of cardiovascular events as those people consuming less than 2 grams of sodium per day.

Another study published in Preventive Medicine found that individuals who restricted sodium intake to less than 2.5 grams per day actually had a higher blood pressure than those who consumed more, further disproving the deep-seated notion that high levels of sodium intake are bad for cardiovascular health.

An individual’s level of optimal sodium intake is a multifactorial question, depending on their age, body mass, their level of activity, and even the region of the world where they live. Without prescribing generic ranges, I think we can undoubtedly say that increasing sodium intake, especially in people who are adhering to a ketogenic diet, is perfectly safe.

The keto flu is an unfortunate side effect of cutting carbohydrates and transitioning your body’s primary fuel source from glucose to ketones. However, it should not deter you from giving this revolutionary diet a try. Your body is perfectly capable of using ketones for fuel, as is the goal of a ketogenic diet, but years of dependence on carbohydrates has forced your body to “forget” how to power itself with fat. You simply have to give your body time to relearn this natural process. Furthermore, balancing your electrolytes, especially in the early days of your transition into ketosis, will boost your energy levels, eliminate keto leg cramps, and enhance performance and recovery. With an understanding of what the keto flu is and how to prevent and combat its symptoms, we think you will be fully prepared to adapt to this new lifestyle.

No I don’t have a published list of unanswered breed requests. It would be a pain to keep up to date, and there are 27 breeds waiting at the moment so I’m not desperate to expand that list.

I haven’t made a list of breeds that I have answered either, for much the same reason.

‘Being desexed’ on its own doesn’t cause weight gain. It does reduce the resting energy requirements of a dog or cat by approximately 10%, so if an animal is gaining weight after desexing it is because they are continuing to be fed too much.

As many animals are desexed around 6 months of age when their growth slows down, many people simply don’t adjust the way they feed their pets and choose to blame surgery instead. I can assure you remaining entire doesn’t protect pets form obesity.

I’m not clear exactly what you mean by a detached sternum. If you mean a prominent xyphoid process then it’s unlikely to impact their life. However there are other conditions which reduce the volume of the thorax (flat chested kittens, pectus excavatum) that will severely impact their life.

Unfortunately I can’t tell what’s going on over the internet, but it’s not normal for cats to just lose their fur. The first thing I’d do though is make sure your cat has adequate flea control.

I don’t see why we’d care terribly much as long as your knowledge is current. It’s more of a concern on a resume if there’s a long period of time with no activity, because that can suggest somebody that’s had trouble as a strong of workplaces and doesn’t want to list them. If there’s a good reason (i.e. not problems at work) it’s not that big a deal how long it took you to train.

If you’re only considering study at this tie, go get work experience. Go see what it’s like. Talk to nurses, especially the older nurses. Talk about wages and earning potential, even if you don’t want to at this stage because that’s the main reason people stop being vet nurses.

But other than that I have no experience myself being a vet nurse, so I say go talk to some.

Not really, I think there’s only one on the market, and that’s for sheep. Topical treatments only penetrate a few millimeters through the skin anyway, so our patients are generally better off with systemic pain relief (tablets injection).

If you cat is not currently gaining weight they he’s probably getting enough exercise for his food intake, and if his weight is stable I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You can’t force a cat to exercise like you would a dog. I would be more interested in why he doesn’t want to play as much, and would wonder about arthritis.

I'm not sure if this is something you can legally give advice about, but my dog has bad knees and is on cosequin for it, which completely manages his pain but he's dependent on taking them every day to stay free of pain. Surgery would fix his problem and remove the need for medication, but is much more expensive. I've heard cosequin can cause harmful side effects if taken for too long and that worries me, but the surgery will be hard to afford. Do you have any advice?

If we’re both talking about cosequin the joint supplement which is mostly glucosamine and chondriotin, then it’s pretty low risk of side effects, even if taken for years. Dogs do need to stay on it every day to benefit from it, but the risk of side effects is very low. Low enough for it to be an over the counter medication and not prescription.

Depends how severe it is. There may be minimal difference in a mild case, but dogs sometimes have trouble chewing things like bones and may be more prone to dental disease. If you can brush his teeth that would be gold standard.

It’s very uncommon to find extra nipples outside of where the mammary chain usually runs (chest to groin). The one on the back of the neck is especially unusual.

Not yet, thank goodness. He has tiny little question mews but has not learned to scream like Wonka, who is deaf.

As soon as he learns to cry for food he’s not getting breakfast any more, and will go down to one feed a day. Crying for food two hours before it’s due is not welcome at 5am, from anybody.
