The Tom of Finland exhibition at Kiasma modern art museum was a treat! I've been to 2 other Tom of Finland exhibitions earlier but this was the best one. They even had his earliest drawings from 1944 (at age 24) there! It was rather moving to look at that a bit shyly drawn picture and think "Oh, Tom. You had no idea what you just started when you drew that."

They also played his interview video from 1980's, where Tom of Finland said that since fully naked people in art was illegal in the 60's (in USA, he lived in LA) when he started, he needed to draw just pretty bodies and slightly suggestive looks. He also concentrated on expressions a lot. He wanted to keep all those aspects in his art through his whole career, and you can really see it.

Since majority of the exhibition art is not acceptable here, have these few pics. Tumblr wants its art like America wanted its art in the 1960's.
