Uni puts on white high-heeled boots, smiling softly and tenderly at everyone, trying to somehow break that height difference, still remaining a small child. Glances stop at her too often, running over the strange hat and tattoo under her eye, but every stranger she tries to make eye contact looks away.

She feels their fear, how their feelings scream that she is dangerous, and not who she pretends to be - and again stretches her lips into a thin smile, behind which hides a chasm of visions, more like nightmares

Good kids don't survive in the mafia.

The curse was draining her strength, greedily devouring the remnants of a broken life, barely reaching her by the hand to twenty - and Uni, quietly, so that no one would hear, thanked her ancestors for this.

As soon as she accepted the curse after her mother, the visions abruptly stopped, leaving only a picture of her death.

But now... She's free again. And the shaman's blood, lulled by human blood and the power of Trinisette, wakes up again, capturing the child's mind with inhuman wisdom.

She looks at Kawahira, silently demanding answers, and he looks back wearily.

He knows, but he cannot understand, because he has never completely pretended to be a man, only putting on masks, leaving his essence unchanged. Sepira wanted to fuse with the mask of humanity, and she almost managed to deceive her beloved humanity by passing carnival masks to each descendant.

Almost - because Uni has become free again to exchange prudence for the thinking of almost immortal beings, and is almost going crazy from inconsistency with what she has become accustomed to in her short life.

She's scared too, but no one can help her.

Either she gets out on her own, or she finally surrenders to the mercy of Sepira's echo, which remains in the mind of every Giglio Nero.

Arcobaleno Pre-Curse Heights

A quick disclaimer before we begin. I am not the best at guessing heights based just off images but I tried my best. If anyone has any corrections do let me know.

Canon:

Lal Mirch: 5’5 (166 cm)

Uni: 4’10 (148 cm)

Luce: 5’7 (170 cm)

Assumptions based on manga panels:

Reborn: 6’1 – 6’2 (186-189 cm)

Fon: 5’8 – 5’9 (175 cm)

Mammon: 4’11 (150 cm)

Aria: 5’5 (165 cm)

Another important thing to note beforehand. Many of the pictures of the Arcobaleno drawn all together by both the Amano themselves or the anime are very inconsistent, or they're standing at angles/strange perspectives, so it makes it impossible to tell their heights. Therefore, I will not be using those as references except for in one case which you will see further down.

Lal Mirch: Lal's official uncursed height was confirmed in the REBORN! ēlDLIVE character's 365 book.

Uni: Uni's official height was confirmed in the REBORN! ēlDLIVE character's 365.

Luce: Luce’s official height was confirmed on her display at the Amano Akira Exhibition (it also says she likes basking in the sun/sunbathing which is so cute). Unfortunetly, it was only Luce's who's uncursed height was revealed at this event.

Reborn: Mostly going off this image of his fight with Iemitsu. They are both at an angle, and both a little slouched (Reborn more so due to him having his arms being held down). However, it's obvious they are at least very similar in height if not the same height. Iemitsu's canon height is 189 cm or 6’2 thus I placed Reborn at around the same.

Fon: Fon's height seems to be pretty similar to Hibari's! Perhaps a little taller if anything since in the photo below he's leaning away and down a bit (since Hibari is hitting him) and Hibari even seems to be slouching a tiny bit. Hibari's canon height is 169 cm or 5'6 maybe even 5'7. And so I placed Fon a few inches taller.

Mammon: Okay, Mammon's used a bit more of guess work but I'm pretty confident in my choice. In the photo below Bel is obviously leaning down quite a bit but if he were to stand up straight it would seem Mammon head would reach their chest. Bel is 170 or around 5’7. Looking at a height comparison chart/website, for someone to reach Bel's chest at the height I predicted they would be about 4'11 (150 cm). Not to mention Bel himself says to them "but your size is pretty compact".

Aria: Little hard to tell here since the first pic she’s at an angle (at least I’m assuming). but she’s a little past Gamma’s shoulder. Gamma is 6 foot (185 cm) so I placed Aria is about 5’5 (165 cm) (once again using the height comparison chart).

Colonnello: OKAY SO. This is a struggle for me. Ultimately I placed him still as unknown as the information was too inconsistent. Here are pics of Colonnello next to Lal. We see that her head is to his chest, the top hitting his shoulders. Lal is 5'5 (166 cm). Using my height calculator that would place Colonnello at 6'6 (198 cm)?????

Now, the reason I can't 100% get behind this is if we look at the photo below! Obviously they're all at an angle and perspective is weird so we can't actually use this as a reference! However, I do believe there is some truth in it and here you can not tell me Colonnello looks 6'6!! At the very least though I think we can confirm he's most likely the tallest of them unless one day we discover Verde or Skull are giants.

Verde: Unfortunetly he does not appear to stand next to anyone while uncursed so I can not compare heights.

Skull: Skull only briefly stands in front of Enma while uncursed for a bit. However, Enma is crouched down so it would be very hard for me to compare heights.

If anyone has any additional thoughts or information please let me know!

I'm the kind of person who goes straight to the source to try and straighten things out, just so I can have some peace of mind.

Warning: this is about KHR.

I couldn't remember exactly what was the deal with Luce - Aria - Uni. I was pretty sure Luce was dead, we were never given any indication as to the contrary, but Aria... Aria was different.

To begin where beginnings begin, when I was watching the KHR anime and then reading the manga, I always found it mighty suspicious that the anime got so many details about the Arcobaleno right. I knew for a fact that the anime-only Arcobaleno Trials Arc aired before the Curse of the Rainbow Arc, so how could the anime have details that were yet to be revealed in the manga? That's when I discovered that this anime-only arc was personally supervised by Amano-sensei herself. Long story short: this arc confirms that Aria was still alive in the present.

But then, why is Aria gone during the Curse of the Rainbow Arc? And why does Uni look exactly as she did in the future?

Let's remember once again the ability of the Arcobaleno pacifiers: the Pacifiers exists in moments. The pacifiers exist as points in time and space, thus allowing them to move between times and spaces. Now let's also remember that Luce, Aria and Uni have this particular ability to see the future.

----This is about to get complicated so buckle up!---- Aria saw the future gifted by the Arcobaleno, but she also saw another future: the future in which the curse would be broken (I'll be back with another theory in which the characters are now living in a different timeline than the one with the future we know). Aria thus chose to give that opportunity to her daughter but, Uni would have been a child in the present and not able to participate in the coming battle. But here is the thing, what if Uni no longer existed in the present? What are you talking about, Kei?? Uni disappearing in the future has no impact on the present! But, what if it did? Uni is the Sky Arcobaleno, she gave her life to revive the other Arcobaleno. What if her decision to give her life for the other 5 also meant she would cease to exist through all timelines? Because, again, the Arcobaleno exist as a point in time and space, a moment that comes and goes as the circumstances see fit.

And here is when I come in with my source: Chapter 354! γ 「あんたの娘ユニと共に散った未来の記憶を受け取ったあの日・・・あんたはおしゃぶりを残して消えた…」

Gamma: "On the day I received the memories of the future in which I died together with your daughter, Uni... You left, leaving behind this pacifier."

γ 「その後　この時代に誕生しているはずのユニも探したが・・・未だ消息はつかめない…」

Gamma: "After that, although we searched for Yuni, who should have already been born in this period... To this moment, we haven't found a single trace of her."

Gamma claims that Aria disappeared right on the day they gained their memories from the future, leaving only the pacifier behind. Their subsequent search of Uni yielded no results, even though they were sure she was already born and why is that? Because Uni no longer existed in the present time! Then how does Uni come back, Kei? Aria, and by a miracle we are all very familiar with. Being the Sky Arcobaleno of the time, Aria gave her own life to revive Uni. But why wasn't she revived as a baby? Because Aria revived the Uni she had seen in her vision, someone who would be capable of entering the Representative Battle and break the curse. Uni is the same age as she was in the future because that's who Aria revived in the present time.

killed myself with the image of little baby Uni sitting on the floor and rolling a ball back and forth with Reborn, or shaking her teething toys at him, and Aria who is so thankful for the break of watching over her daughter because she's effectively a single mother with this One Guy acting as her support, and how it allows her to keep up the pretenses of being herself, of being The Boss, un compromised and un afflicted by anything but her love for Giglio Nero (while they all pretend the future isn’t going to happen and her years aren’t limited)

Reborn relearns how to weave flowers together, and holds perfectly still when the little toddler places a crown of clovers on top of his head. He lies on the floor with her and uses crayons, pins her scribbles to the fridge for Aria to see, and patiently allows chubby fingers to pat pat at his face.

Uni is a very special little girl, not the least reason of which being she manages to sand away the walls he built up in the face of betrayal, the ones which her mother had managed to beat with a hammer so that she could slip in and cradle his grief.

Reborn is the most loyal of the arcobaleno. He may not be part of the giglio nero, but nothing will change that in every sense but blood, Luce claimed him into her family before she tore them all to pieces and her own heart with it

Uni WIP Fic

This fic is based on the Pokemon movie Spell of the Unown! It's centered around Uni and Gamma! And, obviously, this is an AU. Here's a snippet from it!

Uni loves the nights her dad can stay home and play with her until bed. She laughs happily when Gamma picks her up then lays her down in her bed. The blond pets her head softly before kissing her forehead.

“Okay, princess, what story would you like to hear tonight?” He asks warmly, pulling out some of her favorites from her bedside bookshelf-nightstand. The young mafia heiress smiles and takes one of the books from him, holding it up and giggling.

“This one! This one’s about the thing you research, right, Papa?” She asks sweetly, making the lavender-eyed man give a bittersweet smile.

“Mhm, it’s about all the magic and such in this world.”

He explains carefully, glancing at the cursed orange pacifier that hung by a pink ribbon around his baby’s neck. He swears on his life, he’ll find the cure for her…

As the cerulean-haired girl gets herself settled into bed, the Ninth Giglio Nero Lightning guardian opens the book before turning it so she can look at the pictures with him. Some of the pages were just average folklore and tales, things he learned to write off in his research, but others held more truth than one might think from an old book. Namely on things like the Arcobaleno Curse. Part of him had to wonder who the author of this information was… But the name had faded off the cover long ago. He turns the page to a painting with an all violet background with an all white figure standing in the middle of it. The figure seemed masculine in nature with a mess of spiking hair and where his left eye should be was distinctive purple marking. To Gamma, it reminded him of an upside down crown that a kid might draw; three different points that connected with a simple base.

“That’s the angel, right, Papa?” Uni questions, breaking his train of thoughts. The blond nods and chuckles.

“Yep, that’s the Angel of Humanity. No one knows his true name, but we do know he wants peace for all someday. We’ve been trying to find letter pieces that are connected to him.” He warmly explains, watching his daughter nod along with his words. The Lightning was no fool, he knows she doesn’t like how his job keeps taking him away from her, but he’s sure if he can explain at least a little to her that she’ll be more understanding.

The mafia princess cuddles up to her father a little, turning the next page for them. The next two pages had a drawing with a green background and two sets of foxes. One set of foxes are a pale yellow and hold an expression that can be best described as gentle. The other set are a deep black with armor and bright green eyes that held a firmness to them. Uni’s eyes light up and she points at the first set.

“Papa, that’s Colulu and Widget, right??”

“Almost, baby, these are the spirits Colulu and Widget are based on.” He explains, chuckling at how she thought of his box animals right away. 

She nods her little head then points over at the darker set of foxes with a hum, “These ones remind me of you though, Papa. You’re like a fox.”

“Oh, I’m a fox, am I? Then a fox I shall be.” Gamma laughs warmly, tickling his daughter with one hand while mimicking a fox’s yipping sound. The young Sky flame laughs and squirms to get away, but is ultimately just happy to play with her dad. However, their time together is cut short when his computer rings for a call. 

Uni can’t help her frown as her dad gets up. He kisses her forehead again and smiles. 

“I’ll make this quick so we can get back to the book, I promise.” He comforts, making her just blankly nod. 

She knows the other man calling always tends to make the calls with her dad long, even if he doesn’t mean to. As the blond man answers the phone, the voice of his assistant quickly speaks up, “I’m so sorry for calling so late at night, sir!”

“It’s fine, Shoichi, just make this quick. You’re interrupting Uni’s bedtime.”

“Of course, sorry again! But we found them, the angel’s pieces! But we need your expertise to help us verify that they’re the real thing!” The redhead on the other end says quickly, making Gamma perk up instantly. 

“I’ll be over right away-” He starts to say before pausing and looking to his daughter. The young girl couldn’t hide her disappointment in her big, lavender eyes despite her obviously attempting to. He frowns and walks away from his laptop, going back to her and rubbing her cheek tenderly with his thumb.

“Oh Uni… Can Papa go?”

“... It’s important, right?” She asks in a hushed mumble, her eyes tearing up a bit when her dad nods. He pulls her into a tight hug and closes his eyes to stop himself from tearing up too. 

“I swear, princess, if this is real then that means I’ll never have to leave for work ever again…”

“Really?”

“Really, my little one…” He tells her in an almost whisper. The little girl hesitates for a moment, thinking the choice over, before she nods.

“Just… Be back soon, Papa. That’s an order from Giglio Nero Decimo.” She commands as firmly as a little girl can. Gamma can’t stop himself from laughing before snuggling her briefly.

“Of course, princess, here…” He trails off for a moment, slipping off his wedding band and placing it into her hands before continuing, “This is my wedding ring to your Mama, when you miss me while I’m gone, just hold it close and I’ll be right there for you.” He promises. 

The small girl flips the gold ring over in her hands a few times, looking over every detail. Besides a small green gem imbedded in it, on the inside was inscribed “𝚪 & Aria Eternally”. She smiles to herself before hugging her dad again.

“I love you, Papa! Have fun on your trip!”

“I love you too. And thank you, my little kit. I’ll be back as soon as I can.” Gamma says sweetly, petting her head before gathering his things and leaving. 

Uni sighs to herself once he’s gone, still a little unsure about letting her dad go. She has this nagging feeling that something will just go wrong that she can’t explain… She looks his ring over again before carefully touching the inscription on it.

“Is this what you felt too, Mama…?” She asks aloud to herself. 

The young Sky didn’t know much about it yet, but she’s heard that the women of her family can see the future. Maybe this is it, just an awful feeling about something… She quietly picks the book her and her dad had just been looking through, glancing at the picture of the foxes again. She stares at the part with the black foxes again before setting the book down next to her in bed and resting the ring on top of it.

“Goodnight, Papa…”

tl;dr tsuna and uni visit him in the hospital and watch byakuran sleep for a while and see him for who he is, not was. uni gets very sappy about the whole thing. pretty wholesome.

first of all you’re right about everything, but i just want to point out that it’s not just that she knew she’d have to sacrifice herself for this future. it just so happened that her needing to die in that moment also meant saving that future (and all the others), but uni says herself she’s been waiting for the moment she could make good use of her powers all her life, and not just from when byakuran started acting up. in fact she’s been waiting for it since the moment she was born, as she says the trinisette song was etched in her memory ever since. and worse than that, she was even hoping for it, hoping she would get that moment where she’d need to sacrifice herself, says in that same scene, “this is the only chance i can take”. because then, not only her death can mean something, but most importantly, her life can be meaningful too. the life she only ever got to live as uni the sky arco, and never uni the person.

and i’m not saying it’s not meaningful either way, that it wouldn’t matter just as much if she was to die from her time wearing the pacifier running out like the other arco and luce and aria before her, but if she chooses to give herself to the pacifier instead of just letting the pacifier take from her until there’s nothing left to take, then it’s different, isn’t it? then it’s not only just her having made peace with the only choice she was given and could have never escaped from, but her actually making that choice for herself, actually taking her own fate in her own hands for the first time in her life. and she’s still only uni the sky arco to the very end, but at that moment, uni the person is the one to decide what being uni the sky arco means, and when, how, and for what she’ll die.

but then when she does come face to face with death, not only it reminds us and her that at the end of the day she’s still only a child like you said, but i really think it’s also the first time she gets to be one. because if she really was born with the trinisette song already in her memory, then she never got the mercy to not know. she might not have been uni the sky arco all her life, but even before she became that, she was still uni the next sky arco. uni who’d have to eventually and inevitably die for the greater good. and even during those three months with the giglio nero where she was probably at her happiest, where she got to live the most freely, she still had to be uni the giglio nero donna.

uni just really doesn’t know who she is without the duty she’s always known she’d have to fulfill. she really doesn’t know who uni, full stop, who uni the person is. was never given the chance to, was never allowed to. and honestly, if you couldn’t tell that distinction you made between uni the sky arco and uni the person is fucking me up, then know it really is and i want to cry my heart out and never stop.

especially because i never noticed before that even in her death, uni still really can’t see herself as anything but the sky arco. doesn’t know how to, doesn’t know what else she can be. even in her death, even after her death, she’s still all about duty. even after her death, only her duty remains, and how fitting when that’s the thing that killed her to begin with, when that's the thing that didn’t allow her to live while she was still alive. like, the arco curse is all about sacrifice for all of them, but it’s about duty first and foremost only for the sky arco. because they aren’t given the mercy to not know all along it’ll happen, while at the same time their ability to know more than anyone else just confirm the inevitability of it. it’s their destiny, and there’s no running away from it, no escaping it, no winning against it even if they were to fight against it.

their duty is literally the first thing they know when they’re born, the first thing they know about the world, life and themselves when they’re born. so of course luce kept for herself where that mountain was leading all of them, couldn’t imagine there could be anything else past that mountain top that wouldn’t be inescapable tragedy. of course aria didn’t try to run away from it, for all she said she didn’t believe in the curse and tried to protect uni from it. of course uni was hoping she’d have the chance to give herself to it, to make it about her, to choose it too the way it chose her.

and like. is your heart breaking into thousand pieces yet, or are you a cold and unfeeling monster, because i for one will never ever get over this

Just want to take a moment here to appreciate this panel… 

Uni, since the beginning, has known that any meaningful ending to this future would require her death. She knows this destiny is what saves them all. And it seems like she’s prepared for that sacrifice. Just like her grandmother and her mother, Yuni comes prepared to sacrifice herself for the greater good. But when the time to actually make those words a reality comes…. 

She falters. 

Death is final. Death, for her, doesn’t include her coming back. Once she’s gone, she’s gone whether for better or for worse. This is her ultimate sacrifice, her life. In that moment of understanding, we get hit with a reminder that Yuni (at most!) is a late teen/early adult. She’s barely lived life with most of her life being in a role that required her to know suicide was an option for the greater good.  

It’s poignant that even in imagining her death, Yuni can’t see herself without her cap. She can’t separate herself from her job. Everything she is is the Sky Acrobaleno, she doesn’t know who she is without it. She dies as Yuni, the Sky Acrobaleno, not Yuni the person. Not even her own damn death can be about her –separate from the pacifiers.

Uni had been awake in the dark for as long as she could remember. In a viscous, enveloping from all sides, not allowing her to take a step forward.

The only moments when Uni runs towards you, not afraid of anything, are Aria's voice. Tired, gently protective - and still close and dear. And under this voice, the girl runs towards him, trying to curl up under the warm side, trying not to accidentally touch the top of her head to the hot one, as if lying for several hours under the sultry Italian sun.

Uni has never seen the sun or her own mother, but it seems to her that they are the same thing. From the sun, the girl feels a soft warmth on her delicate skin, creeping with her blood through her veins, as well as from her mother's laughter, felt somewhere near her heart.

And she keeps as close as possible, trying not to miss the thin, delicate hand from her own. And with a sinking heart, thinking what will happen to her when this hand stops being so warm?

A little blind girl lives surrounded only by ambient sounds and touches. A sonorous, motherly voice, and gentle touches. The chirping of insects outside the window, living only in their allotted season, flying with a light stream of air. The familiar but distant voices of Aria's subordinates, seizing the moment to give the little lady sweets or soft toys in her hands. The quiet snorting of two Gamma foxes, caressing her palms, leaving wet marks from their noses. The barely perceptible clink of swords in Genkishi's scabbard, and the heavy feeling of steel on her knees.

Oh, how Gamma swore then, noticing such a dangerous weapon in the hands of the little "princess" of the family.

From these memories, Uni smiles easily, going over the sensations of the body over and over again. This is her calmness, her solace in the dark, quiet nights.

Blind Giglio Nero didn't like the dark. And she hated the silence that blurred in the mansion when it was dark. Uni just can't sleep, listening to any rustle, or breathing behind the walls, trying to convince that it's not her.

And that the stone already hanging around her neck doesn't ring at night. That this ringing, disturbing, ancient, does not repeat the melody of the Lullaby carved in her mind since birth.

Before Aria's death, Uni refused to fall asleep alone. When Aria couldn't keep her company, Gamma read her a fairy tale, Genkishi was reliably silent next to her, the clumsy Tozaru fussed with the sleepy Nozaru, or Nigella joked encouragingly.

After the death of her mother, the girl for the first time refused anyone's company - and only sat silently on the cold bed, stroking the stone beating under her fingers. It was like a second heart stolen from her mother by a curse.

Uni opens her eyes, feeling the dryness constricting her blind pupils, and slowly inhales the cool air.

If a butterfly dreams that she is the Arcobaleno of the sky, then who is Yuni?

How many times does she dream that Giglio Nero is cursed again? She doesn't know.

And only closes her eyes again, falling into nightmares.

To wake up again with her heart clenching with resentment and admiration at the same time, realizing how close fear had crept to her throat. Again.

She was left without a mother's hand, which she was ready to trust unconditionally, accepting the family curse from gentle hands as meekly as her own flaw. And she knew with a sense of doom that she was only condemning her Family to a slow decline. The blind, even in the civilian world, became easy targets - for dangers, for other people's barbs.

Uni, who grew up in warmth and safety, was not a stupid child - and she knew perfectly well that she had become only a new burden for the Chosen seven of Trinisette. This made her heart ache - and her head spin more, which only made the girl lose herself more in space, squeezing into a ball on the bed from resentment.

The huge space shining underfoot was replaced more than once or twice - and only the quiet, barely understandable voice of the system (so similar to the voice of the Ray) helped her understand what was happening.

The blue space above is the boundless Sky. Shiny, wet under her bare feet is the eternal Ocean.

Shades of blue merge into one, forcing Uni to recoil, trying to cover his vision with his hands... and nothing works out.

Had her eyesight been taken away just for the sake of visions? And she answers - yes, it was. And the girl closes her eyes, flipping through the flashing pictures in front of her eyes before taking the first step forward.

If Uni's foresight was bought by her helplessness, so be it. And the newly-made Arcobaleno of the Sky gets out of bed, remembering the entire sequence of actions that she managed to see in bright flashes.

Even if she becomes a hostage to her own visions, it will give her only one chance to correct herself. A chance paid for by her future.

And Giglio Nero accepts this deal with a conscience. Anyway, she would never be given another chance.

The chance that Uni will escape death at 15 is zero.

The chance that she will kill Byakuran Jesso before being elected Mare's ring is even less.

But the chance that she will deceive him increases with each passing day. And she will take full advantage of it.

Uni is not sorry that the Mare boy will consider her a broken doll. After all, only this will save her world.

But not her.

it's pretty clear that bluebell hates uni because to her it feels like uni is taking byakuran away from her

and i think uni wouldn't even get mad at her, she'll think it's only fair for blue bell to snap because isn't byakuran the most important person in her life? uni is sure she will react the same if she thinks someone is stealing gamma away

except she won't, because uni is the kind of person who suffers in silence for the sake of other people and she has never learned how to be angry for her own sake
