See the New ‘Enchanting’ Electric Blue Tarantula Discovered in Thailand
Blue is one of the rarest colors in nature, but this arachnid achieves the bright hue through special structures in its hair
Researchers have discovered a new species of tarantula with a rare and “enchanting” coloration: Parts of its back, legs and mouthparts are an iridescent, electric blue-violet. The spider, named Chilobrachys natanicharum, is the only tarantula ever found in a Thai mangrove forest. The team described the arachnid in a paper published last month in the journal ZooKeys. “During our expedition, we walked in the evening and at night during low tide, managing to collect only two of them,” co-author Narin Chomphuphuang, a researcher at Khon Kaen University in Thailand, says in a statement. “These tarantulas inhabit hollow trees, and the difficulty of catching an electric-blue tarantula lies in the need to climb a tree and lure it out of a complex of hollows amid humid and slippery conditions.” In addition to its coloration, C. natanicharum stands out among tarantulas because of its ability to live in both arboreal and terrestrial burrows in evergreen forests. The new research discovered the electric blue creatures live in mangroves, too, where they mostly stick to tree hollows because of the tides, per the statement...

Thailand Clinical Laboratory Industry Has Evolved Over the Years and Has Become a Critical Solution Provider: Ken Research
Buy Now
Expanding healthcare spending by the Government, increasing healthcare spending by aging population and increasing public awareness led to the growth of the Clinical Laboratory Market in Thailand.
Thailand Clinical Laboratory Market Overview: The Clinical Laboratory Market in Thailand is currently at the growth stage and is a consolidated market. The market has been driven by growth in non-communicable disease and chronic diseases, increasing focus on preventive medicine, ageing population, increase in awareness levels, rising disposable income and preference for evidence based treatment. The Thailand Clinical Laboratory Market grew from 6.7% in 2017 to 12.3% in 2021 in terms of revenue generated, due to the growing demand for clinical laboratory services in the country.
Challenges Faced by Thailand Clinical Laboratory Market: In spite of the growing demand for diagnostic services, affordability remains a concern. Budget constraints from both public and private payers are pushing costs lower. The number of sample sales and test price are very competitive among both organized and unorganized businesses. Diagnostics facilities need to modify their technology frequently to maintain a competitive edge. However, these improvements not only require large construction expenditures but also raise maintenance expenses. This is essential, especially for smaller players with little resources. Lack of laboratory accountability for the services that they render, insufficient oversight of suppliers, consumables, supplies, and laboratory equipment in terms of price, commitments, and warranty support; are still very challenging issues.
Supportive Government Initiatives: Thailand’s reform places a heavy emphasis on improving a district health system that is pro-rural and pro-poor. To promote lab accreditation and restore consumer trust, the government has established national accreditation bodies such as the Thailand Laboratory Accreditation Program. The national accreditation program was established as a local alternative to make it affordable, feasible, scalable, sustainable, and effective. In 2008, Thailand’s Universal Coverage Scheme (UCS) was extended to include wider coverage. The UCS plan focuses on minorities and the poor and near-poor, with the aim of offering the most comprehensive coverage possible. It includes extensive outpatient and inpatient health care, as well as prevention and health promotion, in addition to basic hospital fees.
Analysts at Ken Research in their latest publication “Thailand Clinical Laboratory Market Outlook to 2026F- Driven by current shortage, widening customer base, Government initiatives and increasing corporate requirements for clinical testing” by Ken Research observed that Thailand Clinical Laboratory Market is in the growing phase. Increasing healthcare spending by aging population, expanding healthcare spending by the Government and increasing public awareness are some of the factors that will contribute to the Thailand Clinical Laboratory Market growth over the period of 2022F-2026F. It is expected that Thailand Clinical Laboratory Market will grow at a CAGR of 9.5% for the above forecasted period.

AouBoom's Friendship History — A Summary
thank you so so much to mannu (@/boomsjelly) for the translated thread and for giving me permission to do this; all photos are pulled from there
boom became a gmmtv artist in 2020 as a rookie and trained with a group that included pond and bimbeam, while aou joined the company in 2021.
aou had come to bangkok from his hometown of khon kaen (northeast thailand), where he was still a student at khon kaen university. as he was entirely new to the city, he didn't know anyone; in a purported video that op couldn't find, aou said that boom was his first friend in bangkok. when he was casted for enchanté, him and boom got closer with the rest of the boys—forcebook, fluke and gawin.
though their characters were rivals in enchanté, aou and boom were reportedly inseparable off camera; it wasn't unusual to see them doing lives together, singing (boom was used to going live with his gmmtv rookie group, as well as his high school friends).
boom graduated in march 2022, while enchanté was airing and undergoing promotions. fluke and gawin were also there, but it was clear to anyone who attended the fanmeet (and from the videos online) that boom was very close to a particularly clingy aou.
vice versa was being filmed as enchanté ended and it aired from july-oct 2022; they were, as we all well know, casted as side characters. throughout this time period, they started showing their affection towards each other on social media; these are the first photos they posted of each other on twitter:
as the series ended, they started going to events as "boom-aou", even though they weren't an official cp and what was hinted at in vice versa was barely there (apparently aou doesn't think there was anything between aoufuse, and he is wrong he clearly doesn't know them like we do :<). this was their first book fair:
and then hidden agenda was announced and they were promoted as a sort-of official side pairing! aou also graduated in dec 2022, for which boom made the long 6h drive up to see him.
2023 was very, very busy for both of them though, and they balanced time spent together with filming and promotional events. aou was in 5 series and a movie that year (our skyy 2: vv, midnight museum, be my favourite, hidden agenda, beauty newbie, love you to debt). he's very close to his family and wasn't able to go home to visit as much as he wanted, which was very hard on him.
but, he was able to find solace with boom—boom started sleeping over at aou's more often than not, they went to the gym together, watched movies together, travelled together, drove to set together. their friends (including joong) would joke that wherever one of them was, the other would be there too. they were literally always together.
boom has always wanted to become a singer and since aou was also passionate about music, they would frequently go to karaoke, practice, and again, they used to do lives where they would sing. they are very supportive of their friends and would attend shows together (LOL, nnn, krist). they said on a livestream that a dream of theirs is to do a show together!
boom actually got a chance to sing on stage in aug 2023, but aou was in the middle of filming multiple projects and wasn't able to go see him the day of. boom actually drove 2h over to where love you to debt was being filmed a few days before the performance to spend some time with aou.
hidden agenda came to an end, and rumours started circulating about them being in gmmtv2024 as a cp which, as we now know, is we are :)
at aou's birthday event in jan 2024, he opened up about how hard 2023 was for him and how boom was there for him. he also talked about, as someone who's not used to sharing his feelings with other people, how comfortable he was opening up to boom, and the way boom reassured him about the many, many people who love him. this is a link to the video, with translations.
it's reciprocated, of course. boom has previously mentioned in this thread from sep 2023 that aou is also his safe space 🥺
and of course, their popularity grew exponentially with their roles as tanfang in we are, characters that both of them are so incredibly grateful for as seen in their gratitude posts. the fan con/tour in just over 2 weeks is a dream come true for them. they've worked so incredibly hard, and aouboom fans can't wait to see what's in store for them in 2025 🌼🧸
for @dallasthetimetraveler and anyone who doesn't want to venture onto twitter + it's nice to have this on my blog too :)
for my fellow aouboom enthusiasts:

[ad_1] Entomologists in Thailand have been stunned by an electrifying new species of tarantula found in the southern part of the country. The spider, known as the Chilobrachys natanicharum, has a "blue-violet hue resembling the color of electrical sparks," researchers from the Entomology Museum at Khon Kaen University and the Natural History Museum of the National Science Museum said in a paper announcing the find. They called the tarantula's rare color an "enchanting phenomenon." Chilobrachys natanicharum. ZooKeys "The blue coloration in animals is a fascinating and relatively rare phenomenon in nature," researchers said. "Blue color in tarantulas is a unique instance of structural colors that evolved independently at least eight times." The new species' name was chosen in a nationwide auction. The creature is named after the executives of Nichada Properties Co. Ltd., a real estate company. Photos show that the spider has blue-purple hair on its legs and body. The coloring on the legs is "unique" and "iridescent," researchers said. Female spiders and young male spiders of the species have "more violet than metallic-blue hairs," while on male spiders, the bright blue color is more prominent. However, it's "less intense than in females." Researchers said the spider seems to live within Thailand's southern mangrove forests. The arachnids live inside tree hollows there. The spiders may also live in evergreen forests. However, habitat destruction and the hunting of tarantulas has impacted the species: All tarantulas in Thailand are considered controlled wildlife in the country, and researchers emphasize the need to conserve and protect the species and their habitats. If anyone had told me I would get to spend a month in Thailand during medical school, I wouldn't have believed them. Leaving Thailand feels surreal. I can't believe I won't get to to wake up tomorrow, walk down the street, and order a steaming bowl of Jok. Or get lost trying to find my way around KKU. Or meet up with the many students, residents, and faculty who helped make KKU feel like home. I'm beyond thankful for all the unforgettable memories.
My elective month at KKU has given me a new appreciation for the power of non verbal communication in a medical setting. Being unable to communicate verbally forces you to focus on body language that we often miss during patient interactions. The subtle cues that signal discomfort, pain, and even fear. The sigh of relief and smile of appreciation. You realize that human emotions transcend language.
Nothing can do justice to the sights, culture, and people I've had the opportunity to work and experience with in Thailand, but hopefully this video gives a glimpse into the reasons why I'm looking forward to returning to KKU one day.
ขอบคุณค่ะ

Researchers identify the sex of skeletons based on elbow features In an effort to help identify skeletal remains of Thai descent, researchers from Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) have found that examining the distal humerus (elbow) bone is superior to previous techniques that were developed for identifying sex in a non-Asian population. "However, many of the areas on the skeleton that are used for sex estimation may be missing or damaged due to trauma, poor preservation, animal scavenging and nature of the incident (explosive). Therefore, it is important to examine other areas of the skeleton that preserve well and are potentially sexually dimorphic (show differences between females and males)," explained corresponding author Sean Tallman, PhD, RPA, assistant professor of anatomy and neurobiology at BUSM. More than 600 (female 198; male 418) skeletons from a modern, documented collection in Khon Kaen, Thailand were examined. Sex estimation methods using the distal humerus that had been developed on non-Asian individuals were applied to the Thai skeletons. "We found that the shape of the distal humerus differs between females and males in modern Thai individuals. However, when methods that were developed on non-Asian populations were applied to the Thai skeletons, the methods performed poorly, indicating that there are population differences in the degree of sexual dimorphism in the humerus," said Tallman. According to the researchers, accurate biological profile methods need to be established and tested on modern skeletal collections that are genetically linked with the skeletons being studied. However, the majority of methods presently being used were created on and tailored to populations in North America using late 19th and early 20th centuries and modern documented skeletal collections. "It is important to develop biological profile methods that can help identify individuals from this often neglected region of the world that is susceptible to mass disaster from weather, earthquakes, tsunamis as well as civil unrest," added Tallman. Clinic to help Thai women live with foreigners
The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and Khon Kaen University have launched a clinic to help #Thaiwomen #married to foreigners better prepare for a life abroad. Dusadee Ayutwat, an associate professor at the department of sociology and anthropology, said the clinic is especially designed for Thai women in the Northeast to handle challenges they may face when moving overseas. The clinic has been introduced due to a growing trend of Thai women marrying foreign men and living overseas. It is to help them prepare for cross-cultural marriages, maintain healthy relationships and ensure they receive proper treatment. Ms Dusadee said the women will also be informed of cultural differences, family laws as well as how and where they can seek assistance if they run into problems overseas. "The clinic focuses on women in the Isan given the growing number of women there marrying Westerners. Some of these women believe marrying Westerners will give them a better life and financial security, which is quite a misconception," she said. Ms Dusadee said research findings by the university suggest financial security is an illusion. According to the findings, most foreign men married to Thai women are low-to-middle income earners, but they seem to have a lot to spend when they are here due to the lower cost of living. No Fluke
In East Asia, infection with the parasitic worm, or fluke, Opisthorchis viverrini (pictured) is a significant health problem, affecting around 10 million people in Thailand and Laos. Colonising the liver, this parasite is especially hazardous as it strongly raises the risk of developing cholangiocarcinoma, cancer of the bile ducts. Infection is likely to stimulate tumour development in several ways, including through proteins secreted by the parasites, such as granulin. To investigate its role, researchers used a gene editing technique, known as CRISPR-Cas9, to mutate the granulin gene in young parasitic worms. When hamsters were infected with these modified worms, the parasites reproduced successfully, but the hosts’ livers displayed reduced symptoms associated with bile duct cancer. Besides confirming the importance of parasitic granulin, this study also demonstrates the effectiveness of gene editing techniques in this type of parasitic worm, opening the door for future research on other relevant genes.

Humans keep dangerous pets like big cats, scorpions, and extremely venomous snakes. These are people who love and adore animals that can and will readily kill them, and keep them in their own homes. Heck, the Khon Kaen village in Thailand is world renown because many of the people living there keep King Cobras as pets.
So there’s no way there wasn’t a Matoran village of dedicated Kraata keepers somewhere in the GSR universe. Their regional Makuta was really confused because his Kraata kept disappearing, until their agents found a village had been rounding them up and keeping them as pets. None of the Matoran seem all that bothered that they have pets that can infect a mask and shoot lightning or laser beams when agitated.
The crowning gem of the village is an extremely fat and sassy stage seven Kraata that figured out it liked napping on a pillow all day more than serving the will of the Makuta.

Nostalgia
the latest hit of nostalgia I experienced was today.
Yesterday, I was so deep into my thoughts that I realised that I have been working so much that I don’t even have time to talk ‘with’ myself.
Did I not have free time at all? No, I did, but I always spent it on Candy Crush, Netflix, or Tiktok.
Talking to myself is the key to more stable state of mind because to me, myself is actually my literal closest friend. My mental health gets better because I listen to myself more and let me have my moments. I reflect everything through this discussion time with myself.
What I also thought about yesterday was that I wanted to visit Aomme in Korat - with no specific reasons (not that I could think of). To my surprise, I woke up this morning to her message that she was coming to Khon Kaen and if there was somewhere she could crash while waiting. We decided to meet at a cafe near my office. We caught up then her mother called and she had to leave.
It was only an hour and a half, I think, but after we parted, while I was driving, a sense of sadness hit me.
Ah. Nostalgia.
I think it was because it was what I needed this whole time after working literally every day. Of course, I don’t teach every damn day, but there’s no time for me to fully relax my mind and not think about the next class I teach.
Aside from myself, I have other 2 closest friends as I mentioned before. To me, it feels different talking to each one of them or even when we all meet. It feels almost completely different to me, and I strangely like that.
All 3 of us know who to go to if we need specific kind of advice or topic that we want to discuss.
Between Aomme and I, it is mostly about work and study. I guess, a part of it is because we both work as full-time teachers at universities - we pretty much have similar ‘faith’ as full-time teachers in Thailand. It is only sometimes that we talk about our love lives, but do we ask each other opinions about things like this? Yes. Back in the days, we talked a lot more about it that these days as we should. That’s what growing up is all about, right? We know more about ourselves and we learn more about the truth of the world, so we know how to do things, especially ourselves. We know better how to do us.
We also don’t talk much about the past even the good ones. We rarely mention them.
It’s so nice to have people who you feel comfortable to be around even in silence and who you can literally tell them everything knowing that they won’t make it about them and/or judge you.
