Khaz’s Manga/Manhwa/Anime Recommendation Corner #1
I’ve been thinking about this for weeks. I’ve been going through finals and just couldn’t get to my fanfic chapters because my mind is incapable of writing plot atm. Hopefully my sem ends next week and I can devote myself to updates. For now, I’m gonna be doing this thing from time to time. So I read A LOT. Whether it be hard-bound books, e-books, fanfic or manga/manhwa. And am an otaku so... So, if you’re like me, and searching for some stuff to get into or pass the time with, lemme recommend you:
1. one yuri title manga/anime, 2. a manga/manhwa that is either slice of life, villainess+reincarnation, sport, or whatever, and 3. an anime that may have flown by your radar! I’ll try not to spoil too much! Might not even give a decent synopsis haha!
1. YURI RECOMMENDATION:
Even If It Was Just Once, I Regret It /Ichido Dake Demo, Koukai Shitemasu (manga)
One of the yuri stories I am most invested in as of the moment. I love the plot, the art, the story flow. It is GORGEOUS. Basically, OL turned NEET (becoz of harassment, if i remember right) can’t pay off her rent debt is offered a compromise by her gorgeous younger landlady to pay through “favors”. It does start that way, but please. Stay. It ends up being favors like cooking and cleaning, and doing nice things and living with her landlady, all the while both are exploring their own feelings. (okay, there are still cuddling, head pats, hand hold favors too) The nonsexual intimacy is amazingly portrayed. Actually wait... how to explain. They explore an erotic/sexual intimacy OUTSIDE the actual act of doing ‘it’.
This has a chapter that’s basically why the “hand-holding is lewd” schtick exists. It was hot. Hotter than A LOT of doujins out there.
2. RANDOM GENRE MANHWA/MANGA
Ohayou toka oyasumi toka/Good-Morning's and Good-Night's
This is a gorgeous slice-of-life that will tug at your heart strings. It’s a family-centric manga of a man, finally free of his crappy parents and past, getting his sisters from another mother that he knew nothing about dumped on him cause his dad and their mom are just that irresponsible. Here, his view and definition of family will be explored, and together with his sister, they will discover what it truly means to have a ‘home’ and a ‘family’. It’s heart-wrenching and heart-warming. My fav character is the eldest sister, Hotaka. The pain and sacrifice she’s been through, acting as a mother instead to her younger sisters, not knowing how to be a child. The twins are growing up with no parents, but their super responsible and amazing siblings, and really, they can see and appreciate the sacrifices. It’s just so beautiful and warm. Really. Give this one a read.
3. ANIME YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE SEEN YET
A Place Further than the Universe/Sora yori mo Tōi Basho
I don’t even know where to start with this one. I had nothing else to watch at that time, I was looking for a past-time. This. Changed my life. It may feel a bit slow at the start, plot wise. It’s about these 4 high school girls going on an expedition to Antarctica, each with their own motives. The 2 i was most invested in was the one searching for her mother who had long since been missing in Antarctica, and the other searching for something special in her life. She felt like she hadn’t accomplished anything, like she was living such a mundane life. That is what initially caught me. The emotional climax, the stages of grief, got me tearing up. I would recommend this anime.

Khaz’s Manga/Manhwa/Anime Recommendation Corner #3
I should really make myself a schedule to do this stuff.
Repeating again that each batch of recommendations will feature: -1 Yuri work (manga/manhwa or anime), -1 random genre manga/manhwa, and -1 anime that you may or may not have seen
1. YURI RECOMMENDATION
Girl Friends (Manga)
Now some OG Yuri fans may be wondering why I’m recommending it. It’s because a lot of newer fans might not know of this. This is one of the “classics”? You could say, of Yuri Manga. And while Sasameki Koto and Aoi Hana had been turned into anime, this one has not, but we’re still waiting. Now that I think of it, it’s kind of similar to a newer yuri manga called “Useless Princess”. Just without the bulk of misunderstandings and angst. It does have a fair share of it’s own, but overall it’s quite a solid peaceful, doki2 type shoujo manga. Just subtly (or quite blatantly) gay with the panic and all that. I’m bad at selling my recommendations so just check it out! Haha :)
2. RANDOM GENRE MANGA/MANHWA
Beware of the Villainess (Manhwa)
Do I even have to recommend this? If you’re a manga/manhwa reader, for sure you’ve come across this multiple times in recommended comments, meme-ish comments, and the like. If you love strong, witty, independent, and wonderfully confident female MCs with both a male and female lead who are equally gorgeous, this is for you. Also MC villainess screws over the “male leads” of the world she’s in and it’s super satisfying. Teehee.
3. ANIME YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE SEEN YET
Selector Infected/Spread Wixoss
You may have seen or heard of the Lostorage Wixoss series. But before that, we had the SELECTED series of the wixoss franchise. I am not the biggest fan of “card game” anime, but boy was this different. Don’t be fooled by all the little girls and how cute they look. This was just... dark. Not too dark if you’re a big fan of those kinds of anime, but if you’re someone who mainly watches music, slife of life, or sports anime, this is already fairly dark for you. I loved the plot, the characters, the setting, the conflicts and the twists. Gosh. I love this anime so much. Do check it out!

Khaz’s Manga/Manhwa/Anime Recommendation Corner #2
And I am back for another round of recommendations my people!!
Repeating again that each batch of recommendations will feature: -1 Yuri work (manga/manhwa or anime), -1 random genre manga/manhwa, and -1 anime that you may or may not have seen
Let’s get to it!!!
1. YURI RECOMMENDATION
Hello, Melancholic! (manga)
This is fairly new, but honestly, wow. Just wow. The characters certainly all have flaws that some people may find to be a bit annoying at some point, but quite real. They resolve them quite nicely too. And while the main pair/characters aren’t my favorite, they still have a really good story and development. (My favorite character is the delinquent, Chika. She has most of my attention due to her personality, characterization, just her overall actions, thought processes and reactions. Also she’s gorgeous ey. Her pairing is my fav) .
It’s other main genre is music, Jazz to be specifc. It isn’t super angsty, it’s got the salt and sugar and jazz so... give it a go?
2. RANDOM GENRE MANGA/MANHWA
Ebony (Manhwa)
WHAT CAN I SAY BUT FRICKING READ THIS BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE AIDHAOEFKAEIFHOAEWFJOGFP. IT. IS. SO. GOOD. It’s heart-wrenching and warming, exciting, get’s your blood boiling, frustrating in a good sense because you want justice for the characters. I honestly cried a few times in frustration and reilef, sadness and joy.
Everything is quite clever and smart too! and ughhhh. Ebony is a sweetheart and you’d give her the world. The male lead is one of the best. He’s not the “I’ll do everything for you and save you”. He teaches our best girl here how to become even stronger! Honestly, power couple. 99999999/10. There are some really cute moments where Ebony is this innocent child who must be protected because she’s adorable. Not because she is weak in any way. I’m just in awe of this manhwa and you definitely should read it! If you wanta short plot intro, Ebony is a young woman falsely accused of murdering her fiance and father and sent to a horrible prison in a male-dominated society. Like the toxic type where women can’t even have an education above the most basic needed for house maintenance. That type. Just. Read this. No regrets.
3. ANIME YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE SEEN YET
Kaleido Star
Kaleido star is a show about a circus crew, basically. Sora, our main girl here is on the trapeze act, but she can do other stuff too. I honestly don’t know how I should like... flatter this show. When I first started it, I wasn’t all too into it. But getting to the 3rd? or maybe just 2nd episode, I could NOT stop watching it ‘til the end. It’s like something that grows on you as you stick around. The shows are orchestrated with stories and everything just feels like a dream. There are intense moments that leave your eyes stuck to the screen, and there are emotional turns where you feel for the characters and their struggles.
It has 2 seasons, and I loved the 2nd. You can see the growth of the characters and their changes from the first season. Sometimes I wish that I knew more of what happens after. Like an epilogue of sorts. Overall I liked it and the title has imprinted itself into my memory even if I watched this like... 4 or 5 years ago. It’s like those things that aren’t super flashy or uwaahhh, but still a solid story and stays in your heart as a tender memory. Kinda thing...
