Bhagat Kabeer ji’s doha “kal kare so aj kar, aj kare so ab,” wasn’t actually about procrastinating or being active. That’s the obvious translation of the doha. However, I just realized the meaning of the doha was much more than that. Instead of holding off your thoughts, tasks, and deeds for tomorrow do it now because what if you don’t have a tomorrow? No ones tomorrow is promised. We dream of a future, no one has seen it. So why leave things undone if you don’t even know tomorrow is happening. Life as we know it becomes a daily task for many people as they go about their same old routines. But my friends, LIVE your today. Don’t wait for that tomorrow, its an illusion. Gurbani says this world is a “magic show”, thus don’t fall for the worldly fake illusions. Pray, live, laugh, do hard work, remember Him with each breath, and give back to the community as much as you can. Don’t cage your inner phoenix, let it live, be thoughtful and thoughtless at the same time (think about it) and stop dwelling in the future. -k.g

They say it is quite easy to just go somewhere, you know like grab the car and just go. But is it that easy? I wonder. Everyday, I wake up with the same hope I went to sleep with. That tomorrow (today) will be the day the sun shines the brightest, but I go to sleep praying that for the next day. For how long am I to continue this? I am trapped in my own shoes, in front of my own door with a heart that wants to venture but limbs that cannot move. Funny are His ways, we soar in our dreams only to be cuffed by the day. The only hope I live by is to silently wait for my turn, when will the clock strike right....only He knows. Do I have faith in His plans? Yes. But I fear how much longer will I have the patience? - k.g

When someone mentions “bad luck” I simply chuckle. We tend to find a way to blame a mishap or an unfortunate event (personal one) to the most infamous character “bad luck.” “It was just bad luck” they like to say. However, when I say I don’t believe in bad luck they stare hard and are left baffled. Why don’t I believe in bad luck? Oh it’s quite simple, because I believe in Waheguru. My love for the Beloved ensures me that He wrote a beautiful story to my life and all I have to do is go with the flow. How can there be bad luck if He knows exactly what is best for me? If some days we do not get what we desire (could be anything from career opportunities to a ticket for a concert) rest assured that what happened was in your best interest. If you believe in Him and Him only, you will have no sorrows. Therefore, simple math...Love for Him =no sorrow = no pain = no bad luck. Wake up my friend and remember Him throughout your day. Be spiritual and long for Him. He is your only True Companion and He never walks away. Never think that just because today was not bright your tomorrow will suffer as well. Live in the present and Trust His decisions. - kg.
