Professor (Dr.) Rajendra Prasad stands as a towering figure in Indian medical history—a name synonymous with excellence, integrity, and innovation in the field of Pulmonary Medicine. A visionary leader and a compassionate healer, Dr. Prasad currently serves as the Director of Medical Education and Professor in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Era’s Lucknow Medical College and Hospital. He also holds the prestigious position of Emeritus Professor at the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India.
As a distinguished member of the Internal Advisory Committee of the Help U Educational and Charitable Trust, Dr. Prasad brings not only academic brilliance but a deeply humanistic approach to medicine, one that reflects in every endeavor he undertakes.
With a career spanning nearly five decades, his contributions to medical science, public health, and education are nothing short of legendary. From his foundational training at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, to his pioneering work in Tuberculosis control, Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy, and Lung Cancer, his journey has set new benchmarks in both research and clinical care.

• Architect of India’s TB control strategy and a key force behind the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), now NTEP
His leadership helped establish one of India’s first DOTS Centers at KGMU, igniting a nationwide model for TB control in medical colleges. Today, as Vice Chairman of the National Task Force for Medical Colleges under NTEP and Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Tuberculosis Association, his influence continues to shape policy and practice.
