It was easier to think of serving Your Deity, Death itself, as some being high above you. Impartial, ever-reaping, the work endless enough that Your Deity had to have specially chosen helpers, ground-reapers like you who helped pave ways for certain souls of the deceased. It was easier to believe in your goals, your beliefs, the very things that you had been born and chosen for.

It was easier to think that way, when Your Deity wasn’t standing right in front of you, Your Deity’s mortal form already turning your preconceptions on their heads.

Sometimes I want to let go of self-control and common sense.

I want to make a REALLY HUGE FATTY. I want you to be completely filled with fat and softness. I want you to breathe heavily and moan when we make love... I want you to be able to do nothing but lie in bed and eat everything I bring you. I like double chins on fatties, I like their breasts and tummies. Sometimes I fantasize about waking up with a huge piggy next to me every day. Randomly thinking about grrm’s deconstruction of knighthood in asoiaf and how ironic it is that the Night’s Watch - an organization known to be half full of murderers, rapists, thieves, and all sorts of criminals - is essentially in charge of defending all of humanity when shit hits the fan. Like westeros just scrambled ‘the lowest of the low’ together into a penal colony in the far north and is totally fine depending on them for their survival; though tbf, i guess part of it has to do with expecting these societal ‘others’ to give their not so valuable lives for the good of the realm, who really cares if they live or die because they’re out of sight and out of mind. And it’s kinda funny too when we factor in the kingsguard because it’s a far more respected institution than the NW presently, but it too has its fair share of monsters. Quite a few men of the kingsguard have been morally bankrupt individuals, and we even see how the men of the KG sometimes forget other people they should be responsible for because their one priority is the king (we see what happens when you put the people of the realm first and then are ostracized by it a la Jaime tho there’s more to it). Missing the forest for the tree is something both institutions share, making them quite similar. So it’s interesting how grrm flips the fantasy classic of the black knight vs the white knight. The black knight is often anti-heroic, if not straight up villainous, and is often made to be diametrically opposed to the valiant and ever good white knight. But asoiaf has white and black knights both be shown of great virtue and great vice. The white knights in this story really are no better than the black knights. I’d love to see how these two entities could intersect, i.e., what happens when a white knight eventually changes his cloak for a black one (*cough* Jaime *cough*) and how that falls into grrm’s deconstruction of the romance of chivalry, the extent of personal heroism, and perceived knightly virtue. Welp I don’t even know what point I’m trying to make anymore, I just wanted to talk about the KG and the NW because they’re really cool.

It was once thought that Komodos subdue prey with a heavy and noxious array of mouth bacteria that infect bite wounds of prey after being bitten, but... it was never really determined scientifically if that's what was happening (conclusively, at least).

It turned out, they're venomous! Research was done in 2009 that found a primitive venom gland at the back of the mouth.

This is that largest species of lizard in the world, growing to a maximum total length of up to ~ 3 m (~10 ft.) long and a max. weight of up to 8~ 81 kg (180 lbs) (in the wild).

Carmine had been a mermaid since birth, and it was a bit of an annoyance. Thankfully it didn’t get in the way of her being one of the best battlers she knew in Kitakami and Blueberry Academy.

She kept that part of herself under tight lock and key. Kieran was really the only one who knew, alongside her grandparents. Just the people who’d known her as long as she’d been alive.

It was almost easier that way, hiding it from everyone. She could deal with it on her own time, away from everyone else. It was kind of fun to swim fast in her mermaid form.

She didn’t really have ties to any other mermaids apart from acquaintances, since she didn’t swim very often. It was too easy for her to get caught, especially when she was at school.

It wasn’t…unpleasant. Just something she had to deal with, keeping herself away from water so other people didn’t find out. She was as confident in that as she was her battling skills.

Anna frequentava l'ultimo anno del liceo classico. Era stata eletta Reginetta d'Istituto per la sua bellezza prorompente. Alta 1,75 per 55 kg di peso; forme distribuite da uno scultore, grazia assoluta nelle movenze e nel porsi con gli altri. Nessun problema con compagne, compagni o altri al mondo. Ma il prof. Sasso, suo insegnante di Lettere e Latino, le stava sulle palle da sempre: inflessibile, distante e asettico. Incorruttibile. Al punto di dare agli allievi del 'lei' durante ogni possibile forma di contatto, interrogazione od occasionale che fosse. Quell'anno fu per lei particolarmente duro, non solo per gli esami di stato, ma soprattutto perché proprio poco prima degli esami perse il padre. Tra tutti, il più comprensivo e cruciale inaspettatamente per lei fu proprio lui: il prof. Sasso.

Che la prese da parte in più occasioni. Cercò di indirizzarla verso un percorso psicologico di recupero e autoanalisi, al fine di re-instradarla su un binario di minima, ritrovata serenità. Il prof. Sasso: cinquantenne, un pizzico di stempiatura e di grigio sulla testa. Bassino: 1,65 di vitalità e con regolare pancetta dell'appagamento, malgrado il molto sport ancora praticato con assiduità. Scapolo riservatissimo: pochi ed esclusivi hobby. Le parlò tra una lezione e l'altra spesso di cose alte e belle. Le consigliò alcuni testi buddisti, tra cui riteneva il più essenziale "The Buddha in daily life" di R. Causton. Non gliene parlò per farle cambiare religione, ma perché sono quelli che ti sussurrano direttamente all'anima. E poi tu metabolizzi. Qualcosa di bello e buono ti resta comunque dentro.

Le indicò poi altri testi fondamentali: “Il Palpito dell'Uno” e “Nel nome dell'Uno” di Angelo Bona. Da confrontare in un secondo tempo con “Molte vite, un'anima sola” e “Molte vite, molti maestri” di Brian Weiss. E altro ancora, di questi e altri autori. Le aveva dato l'incarico, a tempo perso, di fare un parallelo tra l'approccio europeo all'argomento trasmigrazione delle anime, alto e filosofico, rispetto a quello decisamente più terapeutico e concreto, pragmatico del collega americano. Sapeva che poi degli autori suggeriti sicuramente la giovane avrebbe acquistato anche altri titoli. E che così avrebbe allargato molto i suoi orizzonti.

Avrebbe imparato a guardarsi dall'alto. Invitandola a leggere, le parlò a lungo dei percorsi delle anime e le garantì che avrebbe ritrovato il suo papà, prima o poi. Lei bevve letteralmente le parole del prof. Sasso e vi si aggrappò con tutta sé stessa. Iniziò le letture e divorò i libri: era tutto come lui le aveva detto ed era ansiosa di parlargli ogni giorno. Le anime sono assetate di reminiscenza e captano al volo le oasi di pace lungo il percorso terreno, quando le trovano. Sentiva ora per il prof. Sasso un sentimento misto tra attrazione e gratitudine ed era perciò molto sorpresa. Doveva vederlo, toccarlo, parlargli, sorridergli. Voleva affascinarlo. Si recò quindi un pomeriggio a casa sua.

Lui fu molto lieto della visita e gli occhi gli sorrisero, nel vederla. Era oggettivamente un esemplare di donna spettacolare, seppur molto giovane. La fece accomodare in salotto e andò in cucina a prendere qualcosa da bere; quando tornò la trovò come una fiera selvaggia: bellissima e nuda, accovacciata sul divano. Col sesso in bella evidenza! Rimase interdetto e bloccato: “signorina Anna, ma cosa fa… si rivesta immediatamente…” però non mostrava troppa convinzione. Era stupito ma ipnotizzato ed estasiato.

Non poteva credere a un regalo così bello proprio per lui. Non l'avrebbe mai confessato, ma quella ragazza era stata spesso oggetto delle sue fantasie, durante i suoi privatissimi momenti di felicità solitaria. L'aveva desiderata intensamente. Fu lei a sbloccare l'impasse e gli diede del tu: “ma che dici, Sasso: sei matto? Ti sto offrendo la cosa più bella e dolce che ho, qualcosa per cui tutti i ragazzi dell'Istituto farebbero la fila e tu mi dici di rivestirmi? Ti dico io cosa farai: ora ti inginocchierai subito, me la mangerai finché vorrò e poi forse ti regalerò qualcos'altro che gradirai moltissimo…” 

Il prof. Sasso come un automa si inginocchiò e non poté fare a meno di obbedire, da studente modello, alla neo-professoressa. Promossa sul campo per meriti erotici. Ella godette dell'uomo e del suo scrupoloso leccarle la passera, ma forse ebbe maggior piacere per il potere che finalmente aveva su di lui. Comunque, dopo una mezz'ora si alzò e lo trascinò in camera da letto. Si fece montare come lei preferiva: a pecorina. Lo fece godere, godere e godere: voleva sinceramente ricambiarlo delle cure avute per la sua anima. Lo rese esausto ma felice. Lo accolse anche nel suo stupendo culo e lui una volta entrato lì dentro, in quel piccolo antro delle delizie, pensò sinceramente di aver così toccato il paradiso. Anche perché mentre la inculava teneva le mani a coppa su quei piccoli seni morbidi e perfetti.

La sorreggeva delicatamente. Subito a seguire, mentre la baciava e scopava in modo più tradizionale, di quelle mammelle acerbe ne avrebbe assaggiato il dolce sapore e annusato l'odore meraviglioso, cose che gli si sarebbero conficcate nell'anima per la vita. Il giorno dopo tutto tornò uguale a prima. Anna finalmente, grazie al prof. Sasso aveva ritrovato un po' di pace e speranza nel domani. L'uomo di converso aveva capito, dopo averlo soltanto studiato e quasi al tramonto del proprio percorso esistenziale, cosa vuol dire veramente innamorarsi. Provava la sensazione frizzante di sentire il cuore che impazzisce dalla voglia di dirle continuamente che lei era la cosa più bella mai capitatagli. E tramite messaggi ringraziava la sua giovane insegnante.

Era lacerato dentro, dalle esigenze del suo cuore, dalla sua brama di possederla nuovamente e dalla paura che qualcosa potesse incrinare la sua rispettabile, integerrima facciata di serio professore mostrata pubblicamente. Quindi, le chiedeva ogni volta di non contattarlo più: non sta bene, la differenza d'età, il decoro, la reputazione, l'etica. Lei se lo rigirava con sapienti capriole di parole e infine concludeva invariabilmente con: "a che ora ci vediamo stasera per… l'ultima volta? Me la vorrai concedere, no?"

E il gioco del "rimorso che fa a tira-la-corda col desiderio" ricominciava uguale il giorno dopo. Ma era il secondo a vincere. Sempre. E la storia andò avanti. Non avrebbero più smesso, fino a che lei non si trasferì in un'altra città per l'università. Però anche Anna sentiva dentro il profondo bisogno del Prof. Sasso e quando tornava a casa, la prima persona che andava a trovare era sempre lui.

Quei due si amavano veramente. Scherzavano di continuo, come sedicenni. Due anime probabilmente legate da secoli, peregrinano nello spazio e nel tempo. Cercandosi inconsciamente. E perciò quando si ritrovano nella contemporaneità di un periodo non si lasciano più. A dispetto di convenzioni, età anagrafica e ostacoli vari che si frappongano sul cammino dell'amore.
