Chameleon and her colors
Tumblr media
ne thing I noticed about KFP5 that most people seem to have missed is that Chameleon is associated with all four major color motifs of Kung Fu Panda:
Her eyes glow blue and so does some of her magic. Blue is the "evil" color in this franchise, previously worn by Tai Lung. Seeing as she's the main villain of KP5, this tracks.
Her dress has red accents. Red symbolises power, as previously seen with Shen. These are just small accents on her dress, however, hinting she has less power than she thinks.
Her dress and part of her skin is green. Green symbolises spirituality and wisdom and is mostly a "heroic" color in these movies, but was previously associated with Kai as he was a spirtual being. The same principle applies here, since she's a sorceress.
Finally her crown, part of her skin and some of her magic is golden. Gold is the ultimate heroic color throught the series, which makes her exceptional in this regard. Most likely represents her simply taking the kung fu, the "heroic power", of other characters.
This movie sucks but the symbolism is god tier.

So kung fu panda 4 just reached 400 million at the box office, and I’m gonna be honest, while I obviously want dreamworks to make money, I hope this doesn’t set a precedent. I know a lot of people love this movie, but it just feels hollow compared to the first three. The amount of things they could have done better is what pains me. They are really lucky this movie is funny (it’s nothing if not funny) and has the KFP name to ride on. Because I’m sorry to say, this felt ALMOST as bland as ruby gillman. Both suffer from writing that should have taken itself more seriously and flesh out the storyline in ways that would have benefitted. Both suffer from villains that feel like they SHOULD have compelling backstories and motivations but one falls flat because of a dumb plot twist and the other falls short because it’s like the barebones of a backstory and motivation (again, thank you Mike). Both try to be emotional at times, which I respect, but again, they could have went way further to get the heart strings tugging. My main point is, it doesn’t matter if half of the fanbase liked the movie, or even loved the movie, or if it made back a ton of money. This shouldn’t set a precedent for people making these movies deciding to not put in their all when it comes to making an interesting story that feels like it has heart put into it, only because it’s riding off the success of previous installments in the franchise. Here I was hoping dreamworks would make a ruby sequel that blows the first one out of the water, but if they’re not gonna give their all for Kung Fu Panda of all things, then how can I expect them to do better for a movie that only made 45 million. Hopefully I’m wrong. Hopefully the wild robot will show dreamworks “wow, people actually really love it when we put an emphasis on heartfelt emotional storytelling that doesn’t overly rely on comedy,” and maybe kfp5 will bring back the magic the first 3 had, and ruby gillman 2 will be known as the biggest comeback for an animated franchise.

My thoughts and things I would have liked to see in Kung Fu Panda 4
I really did like Kung Fu Panda 4. It's the weakest of the four movies but I still enjoyed it. Here are some thoughts I had. Spoilers Obviously.....I liked that it vaguely mentioned that Tai Lung, Shen and Kai found inner peace/Redemption in the spirt realm, but I wish they explored it a little more. I would have liked to see Tai Lung and Shifu interact before Tai Lung goes back to the spirt realm. Have a nice father-and-son moment. I would have also liked to see Shen and Li Shang interact. Shen tried to kill all the pandas and succeeded in killing Po's mum. Maybe Shen could have apologised and admitted that by trying to stop the prophecy happen, he made it come true. He let his fear of his defeat control him. Forgiveness could have been a good message in the movie.
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I liked Zhen and it made sense that she became the next dragon warrior. I know some people wanted Tai Lung or Tigress to become the next dragon warrior and it would have been a plot twist, but Zhen worked. I liked the plot twist that she was working with the chameleon, but Po forgave her and they fought her together.
I hate that the Furious Five were not in the movie. except for the end credits. It would have been awesome if the Furious Five and Shifu turned up at the last moment to help in the final battle like the Avengers. I vaguely saw an article that said it was too expensive to bring Angelia Jolie back for a few lines. I used to be a strong shipper of TiPo, but I'm kind of giving up on it ever happening.
This might be another unpopular opinion but, I'm kind of surprised that none of the characters such as Shifu, Ping or Li Shang have been killed off. I'm not saying that I want this to happen, but this typically happens in movies. A teacher or parent dies so that the main character can grow.
I just wanted to share some of these thoughts and wondered what everyone else thought of the movie. I've been so excited about the movie since I saw the trailer. Ngl I wasn't even sure if they were going to do a fourth movie for a while cause there was no confirmation. I know they are doing six movies, but it went quiet for a bit. Hope we get more furious Five in KFP5. I still have my fingers crossed for TiPo, but I want get my hopes up lol

A Look back at KFP4
Thinking back of this movie, it’s not a bad movie my any means (when you prefer comedy and weird jokes that aren’t belong in a KFP Movie). I don’t hate it. It’s like T9R just sad how it turned out. I really don’t want to know how KFP5 will turn out. Nothing has developed in the fourth movie. Still lowkey happy that the third movie looks a lot better now, it really deserves it. But if you stay true to the original trilogy you can perfectly ignore it in the big picture like I do. For me KFP ended after the third film.

I watched Kung Fu Panda 4 and I was DEEPLY upset that Shen and Kai didn't have any lines. All those months waiting excitedly wasted by the worst Director possible. I Pray Stephanie Ma Stine gets to be the only Director in the KFP5, that or Jennifer Yuh Nelson returns or they both get to be directors, I'm cool either way.
Anyway, I want to share this Fanfic i found that while not the best, is still worth reading if you feel cheated in KFP 4 so please give it a read.

KFP 4 (or any future) Movie Idea
Hey everyone, I had participated in a discussion on what we want for KFP 4, or in any future movie really, if they ever get made, and the ideas I have seen go from really awesome or simply good ideas, to some that are so crazy that they are less likely to happen. What I want to share with you guys is a reply that I had made to somebody else on the discussion, but the idea/concept that I present here I think will be a very good topic/or even plot that could be in either the next movie or any other future movies, that is presuming, of course, if they are made. In a nutshell, I talked about on how the topic or concept of war can be handled as either a major plot point, or simply another struggle that our heroes have to deal with. How it can bring more opportunities to the table, such as character development, character revelations, world building, and the strengthening of character relationships. Before you say otherwise, remember that in KFP 2, the topic of massacre was addressed (The majority of the Panda’s had been wiped out when Po was a cub (baby)) And a kids TV show that had the same age-range as KFP, Avatar The Last Airbender, covers war as one of it’s main plot points (I know it’s a TV show and I know it was made way before KFP, but that is beside the point.) I think that something like this could be done, will it ever? Probably not, but It is certainly a good topic that can be considered and explored, or even expanded on. Note that You can skip the first few sentences of the post as it was a reply to someone else, But I think that idea I have is worth exploring and expanding on, I would love to see what you all think about it, it is not perfect by any means, but I think that I can still get my point across, you are more than welcome to add on it or improve on it if you feel that it needs as such. Thank you all ahead of time for reading this.
Warning: long reply!
I like some of your ideas, especially the first two as that sounds more reasonable then the third (just saying). But I think that one of the things that Po will have to deal with is trying to live up to the expectations and duties required of being the successor to Master Oogway, along with being the (a) teacher and still being the dragon warrior is a possible inner conflict that can be addressed within the span of three films, notice how Po had to find out who he is across the three movies so far, with each film kind of building on to how he learns to be his own person (though he kind of learned that in the third movie no?) One thing that I notice with each movie is that the kind of conflict that Po and the rest of the five had to face is even bigger than the last, with the most recent one dealing with the supernatural and the spirit realm. I think another possible topic, or type of conflict really that could be used in either the next film or in feature films is a war of some sort.
I'm not talking about the threat that looms where it has to be taken care of to prevent a war from breaking out, I am talking about a kind of conflict/ war that had been going on for some time (possibly spanning years), it started out small, kind of like a feud between two parties or clans, or another nation/territory and it grew and gradually got worse over the years, which could possibly explain that both the Valley of Peace and the majority of China had managed to stay relatively unaffected or unscathed from this conflict, in other words, the majority of china and the valley managed to stay out of the conflict, or at least to the point that the conflict did not cause enough damage to the common people or to the fate of china enough for any kung-fu masters to be alerted from or of to concern. However, as the number of casualties increase or somehow, more people, or even a kung fu master somehow gets tied up in the conflict (could even be one of the five), it is a cause of concern for an ongoing devastating conflict that could grow and quickly cause all of china to fall into chaos if not taken care of (The conflict had already grown over the years for it to be major enough to be dealt with, but could still be stopped before devastating all of china, the next or feature movie could take place at rising to or at the peak of the conflict/war.)
This kind of conflict could bring more opportunities to the table for the franchise.
1. The Furious Five can play a bigger role compared to the third movie (that was one of the reasons I fell in love with the second movie and what the third movie lacked though understandable.)
2. More character development, especially among the five, Po, and more notably, Tigress.
3. A darker tone, similar to that of the second movie, conflicts and plots of this nature will tend to invoke a darker tone overall to the story.
4. character revelations, especially if the war was somehow responsible for how that character ended up in the situation they are in today, for example the war could somehow be connected to Tigress' past, as in the war somehow being the direct or indirect cause of why Tigress was separated from and or "abandoned" by her parents by dropping her off in the steps of the Bao Gu Orphanage. A situation or event like this could lead to the war becoming a personal conflict for her.
5. Deeper and stronger relationships, especially if another character can understand what the other character is going through and helps them understand or helps them through the personal conflict, therefore creating an understanding between the two characters, often resulting in the relationship/friendship strengthening as a result along with gaining more understanding of each other.
If the writers can manage to address a massacre of almost an entire race or kin and turn it into a story, or make it apart of the story, then I believe that this type of conflict can somehow be made into a story. This may or may not happen, but it is a pretty good concept that is certainly worth exploring and expanding.
Like I said, not perfect by any means, I would love to see what everyone thinks about this?

We have Po as a student. Then as a Master. And then as a Teacher.
The next challenge will be about Po being a husband. And then final will be about Po being a Father.
Sums up the whole KFP.

I introduced you to the villain I created for my kfp5 idea, Pusa Kui. She is a priestess who proclaims that there is only one being in all of China who must rule it, a deity, and she will not stop until China kneels before it. 💀📿
