“hugging their lover tight to keep them in bed” seems like a very Moon prompt X3
Some would say you spend way too many unpaid hours at work, your boyfriends would disagree, they say you get paid in cuddles. And oh how wonderful those cuddles are.
You snuggle up into the warmth, Moon's warm hugs upgrade was such an amazing addition to their repertoire of skills.
You bask in the warmth as you awake, soft music playing from Moon’s music box. Pillows surround you and stars dance over the blanket above you, blocking the whole world out, it’s just you and him.
You reach over Moon carefully to your skillfully placed phone. You'd figured out by now exactly where to place your phone in the pillow fort so you could reach it in the morning. You grab it just in time to shut the alarm off before it breaks the peace, before placing it back. You sigh as you drape your arms back around the robot who's wrapped around you.
You wait just a moment, taking in the peace and quiet. Waking up like this was always better than waking up at home. Waking up to Moon's cuddles was always the best. But they were unfortunately cut short far too soon every morning.
“We should get up soon.” You whisper.
“Nooooo,” He mumbles into your neck as he snuggles in.
“The kids will be here soon.”
“So?” He pulls you closer.
“Five more minutes?”
He only hums in reply.
You let out a sigh as you relax into his hug. You could stay like this forever.
You hold his face in your hand looking up at him.
He looks down at you with sleepy eyes.
“You’re beautiful,” He hums.
“Well you’re amazing,” You whisper back.
He places a soft kiss on your forehead before he tucks your head under his chin. He’s so safe and warm and soft, you could drift right back to sleep, and for a moment you might have.
“It’s been five minutes, maybe more.”
Moon grumbles in protest.
Had you actually drifted to sleep? You can’t reach your phone anymore to check.
You try to get up but are pulled in tighter. His gentle yet unrelenting embrace captures you in place.
“Moooon, come on we have a job to do.”
He smiles as he closes his eyes.
“Moon the kids will be here any minute.”
“You embarrassed?”
“Do I want to get caught by all the little kids and their parents like this no…”
He only chuckles.
“I don’t want this to end either.” you sigh. “But we need to get ready for work…”
He sighs. He knows you’re right.
BANG BANG
A knock echoes through the daycare.
You both jump right up.
You crawl out of the pillow fort just as the big daycare doors creak open.
“Hello?”
“Hi sorry…” you neaten your hair as Moon crawls out of the fort behind you. “We were just… setting up a pillow fort!” you exclaim as you approach the lady.
“In… your pyjamas?”
“Yes it’s pyjama day.” you let out a nervous giggle.
“You should have emailed me or something. I wouldn't have bothered dressing her.” She huffs. “I was worried you were closed because the lights were off.”
“Nope, we’re very much open.”
“Good, I have work to get to.” She looks at the little girl holding her hand. “Have fun sweety.” She hands her a bag and shoos her into the daycare before leaving.
She was a little earlier than usual but that happened sometimes that’s why you usually try to be up and ready.
Moon crouches down to the little girl's level. “Hello little star, you’re the first one here, do you want to play with Mr Moon or Mr Sun first.”
“Mr Moon please.” she chimes before looking you up and down. “Do you sleep here like teachers do at school?”

Ok so, this turned out just a tad more angsty than intended...
This is the follower raffle prize for @yuckydraws
Set post monster vs human war in medival times of my au.
Edge (UF Papyrus) x reader.
Through The Ages: Our Little Secret Cabin.
You rush through the trees. Golden light peeks through the canopy. With your woven basket tucked in the crook of your arm. Your feet trip, but you catch yourself on a tree.
You can't be late again, but you just had to lose that person following you.
No one can ever know. Not a single person can find out.
You finally get to the small cabin tucked away, deep in the woods.
You knock your secret little pattern on the dark wooden door before you open it.
Empty. Again.
What was this the sixth week since the war ended?
You sigh. Might as well clean the place while you're here.
He always liked things clean and tidy some would say he's a little pedantic about it.
But he made this place. He built it with his own hands. Just in case things between humans and monsters went wrong. It's somewhere you could both hide. He was always thinking ahead. You need to keep it perfect for when he finally comes back to you.
So you dust, polish, shine every surface, from ceiling to floor the whole place is again spotless. It's not too hard since you have been doing it every week now. You sit, in the dark, on the couch, resting before you make the trek back to your village. You hold the last letter that Edge had written you. You read it once again, checking you've got this right for what must be the fifth hundredth time. You received this letter just before the war ended. The war monsters had won.
You haven't heard from him since. He must have written this at least a week before then.
He reminded you of the promise you shared the day he left to fight. He didn't want to go, but he had no choice. You haven't seen him in years now, but those words, that promise. You've thought about it every day. Held on to it.
"My dear, after this is all over, meet me at our secret cabin. I promise no matter what happens, I will come back as soon as I can. Promise you will meet me there. Please."
But then where is he?
The worst-case scenarios run rampant in your mind.
A silent tear runs down your cheek, followed by another. Then another. Until you can't stop them.
You just want him back.
This wasn't how it was supposed to go. You were supposed to be together. Be happy. Forever. If only this stupid war didn't take him from you. Then everything would be fine. He could be here to hug you, to hold you, to-...
KNOCK.
You're frozen in place, your breath stops, you can only stare at the door.
The knocks that follow. It's the knock. Your secret pattern!
Was. Is. Is he finally home?
The doorknob turns. But then it stops. You hear a loud sigh from behind the door. The door clicks back into place.
No, no, no no-no-no.
You jump out of your seat. Swinging the door open.
He stops in his tracks. His back to you. He was walking away.
"Edge!" You shout.
He turns. It's him, you almost can't believe it.
You sniffle, your lip quivering, your eyes welling up for a completely different reason than before. You run to him. Jumping into his arms. He catches and spins you around, muttering your name in sheer surprised joy.
"You waited?" He squeaks.
"You came." You cry.
He puts you down, holds your cheek in his big boney hand, wiping at your tears with his thumb. His eye lights, shine under the moonlight as he takes your every feature in.
"I missed you so much. What took you so long? you bonehead." You laugh just a little.
"I missed you too." He mutters. He looks around quickly. "I'll explain everything inside."
You both hurry inside and settle on the couch. He takes both your hands in his but not before lighting an oil lamp to illuminate the room.
"My dear, I'm so sorry I took so long to get back to you."
You look up at him. It has been so long, you notice so many more scars and chips over his bones than you remember, and the pains of war hidden behind his adoring eye lights.
"You got hurt, didn't you." You knew it.
He looks away but gives you a sad nod.
"The last battle… I thought I was not going to make it home. I would have written. I just couldn't. I came here as soon as they let me go. I didn't know you'd be here. I thought."
You take his cheek in your hand, gently turning his face to look at you.
"I would never break our promise." You assure him. "We said no matter what happened, we would meet here. What kind of mate would I be If I didn't wait here until you came for me? All that matters Is you're here now."
He wraps his arms around you. “I love you. I missed you so much.”
“I love you too.” You hug him back. “And I missed you more.”
He shakes his head. “I swear I missed you more.”
“Nah uh. I missed you more.” You giggle.
Edge chuckles. “You have no idea how much I missed you.”
“Well, you have no idea how much I missed you.”
“How about we agree to disagree, love?”
“No, I think we’re going to have to prove who missed the other more.” You bat your eyelashes.
“Alright, challenge accepted.” he smiles. “I missed your devilish little smirk.” he plants a little kiss on the corner of your lips.
“Well, I missed your stupidly handsome cheekbones.” You giggle, pressing your lips to his sharp cheekbones.
“I missed that giggle of yours.” He snuggles his face into your neck, making you giggle more.
You push him gently to lay on the couch. “I missed having you to hold.” You cuddle up.
“I missed that too.” He slowly pats your head, holding you close.
You both sigh…
You look up at him. “I missed your gorgeous jawline.” You whisper, scattering little kisses over his jaw.
“I missed your beautiful mind.” He whispers back, kissing your head.
“No, I missed your amazing mind.” You shuffle up to kiss his forehead. “I missed everything about you.” You pepper kisses over his skull.
“Ok, ok you win.” He chuckles.
“But there’s something else I missed too.” You pout.
“And what might that be my lady?”
You trace your thumb over his teeth. “Your kisses.” You whisper before gently pressing your lips to his teeth.
Your hand rests on his chest, the other holds his cheek. He melts into your kiss, wrapping his arms around you more, pulling you close. He breaks away long enough to whisper, “I missed this too.” Before kissing you again.
You can’t help but kiss each other breathless, trying to show just how much you’ve really missed each other.
“I love you.” You sigh.
“I love you more.”
You both laugh as you rest your head back on his chest. A moment of quiet passes.
You need to ask the question you know has to be on both of your minds.
“What now?” You mutter.
Edge takes a deep breath in and out. “I don’t know.”
“We’ll… figure it out though, right?”
He nods. “Of course. We’ve been through worse.”
“Yeah.” you sigh.
“Say, has the bed been changed recently?”
You giggle. “Just before you came.”
He kisses your head. “We’ll figure it all out in the morning then.”

Been a while since I posted one of these little comfort drabbles.
Tis Uf!sans x reader of course.
Tis a short one but I hope you enjoy.
 ~~~~~~~~~~
The soft cold breeze rustles the evergreen leaves. You wrap his jacket around you tighter as you look out into the garden. From the back porch, you see the glistening lights carefully strewn over… pretty much everything, matching the stars above. You can't help but sigh, your breath a white puff of vapour.
Now you feel his presence, you scrunch up hoping he won't notice you… but you know he's seen you, you feel his soft gaze.
He sits on the bench beside you leaning back getting comfy.
"Hey." He whispers.
"Hey." You parrot back.
A moment of silence befalls you both, it's not quite an awkward one, more like. A needed silence.
You know he noticed you were missing from bed not long after you snuck out and you know he's just worried.
"So…" He hums. "You ok doll?"
You only nod, still looking over the garden.
"Kay... so like you come here often?" He chuckles.
You let out a little giggle. "I live here silly."
"On the porch? Man, that's rough."
You roll your eyes but laugh a little all the same.
Then.
Another.
moment.
of.
quiet.
"Do... You wanna talk about it?" He then asks.
You finally find the strength to look his way and all you can do is lean in and wrap your arms around him.
"H-hey, it's gonna be ok." He holds you and pats your head softly.
You try not to soak him in tears.
"Hey, It's okay to cry a little, heard it helps some." It's as if he read your mind.
Despite your best efforts, the water in your eyes take that invitation.
"Let it all out doll, you can tell me what's up after. It'll be ok I promise." He pulls you closer and gently rubs your back.
You cuddle up, he's so warm and you always feel so safe in his arms.
"I love you, sweetheart, you know that?" He mutters in your ear.
You nod. "I love you too Sans."
A Storm of a Hunt Part 5
Previous
It's kind of suspicious to put the plate on the torture box. But then again, it’s either that or the floor. You look up at the ceiling for a few minutes, opening and closing your eyes, testing yourself to see if you're really ready to get up. You wonder for a moment If you should wait for Papyrus to get back. Maybe he wants me to sleep longer? Maybe he isn’t coming back. It is very possible that his claim to be ‘standing guard’ was a lie.
You decide to get up. You swing your legs over the side of the crate, and wince. You feel like someone just grabbed your nerves, and jerked them straight. The top of the crate is large, and fits you comfortably in a sitting position. But it does not fit you long wise. In order to sleep comfortably, you must sleep with your limbs curled in, and lean on the wall. This is not an uncomfortable sleeping position, but upon waking, you find that your joints do not approve.
You finish sitting up, and cringe at the pain in your side, and ache in your joints. You stretch, and stand up. Oops… Congrats! You gained a headache. You curse under your breath, and rest a hand on the wall to keep your balance. What time is it? There is no way of you knowing. After a moment, you inspect the plate.
You find a dubious looking bundle. it's covered in what is possibly… cheese sauce? Maybe? Next to what is either a burrito, a strange sort of casserole or perhaps poison, sit three generously sized, chocolate chip cookies. You spot a scrap of paper next to the plate with the word ‘Human’ written on it in neat handwriting. Papyrus?
The bundle doesn't look so appealing, but you decide to try it anyway. You cut into the bundle. The cheese was somewhat rubbery, and the layer under that, far to crisp. Under that, you find it a bit slimy. You take a bite. It’s somehow worse than Asgore’s snail pie, you have no idea how Chara copes with that. You swallow. Nope, you definitely can’t finish this.. Sorry Papyrus. … Why did that thought even cross my mind? Why am I sorry for that monster? Why do I care? You try to shake yourself out of your thoughts by turning to the cookies.
They look edible, good even, and are tinted orange for some strange reason. They look like chocolatechip, and smell like Christmas, and spices. Odd. You decide to try the cookies.
They’re pretty good, on par with that donut if not better, and like it, and all the other food you’ve had down here, it’s very filling. But you’re not sure if it's good just because of the previous disgusting food, or if all the weird food here is messing with your taste buds. You feel something. It’s like.. Someone’s watching you. You turn around. Papyrus is standing there almost frozen with a load of books in his arms. How!?
“Wha’s ‘at?” He asks cautiously, pointing at the plate of food.
“...Food?” Did I do something wrong? . “I… thought you left it here.” You hold up the note. Papyrus cocks a brow, and shakes his head
“Don eat anyth’n, less I’m ‘ere ta tell ya to.” Papyrus says in a dark voice.. You feel yourself jump at his tone, that was the first time he’d raised his voice above a mumble, it was a bit of a surprise. It almost stung for some reason.
“Sorry.” You say quietly, trying to hide the quiver in your voice. You put the half eaten cookie down. Dang it! I let my guard down again. What is it with this place? was that poisonous, am I gonna die now? Papyrus turns away with a sigh.
“Can ‘ave tha cookies.” He states softly. Your chest still feels a bit tight for some reason. What is this?
“You're sure they're not poisoned?...” you ask. Papyrus hums.
“Poisoned?... Sans prolly lef’ it. Poison an’t ‘is style.” Papyrus shoots you a small smile, one that looks like it doesn’t belong. Good on him, but foreign.
“Sans… is your brother, right?” You recall. Papyrus nods.
“One could argue.” An odd answer.
“He.. doesn’t like me. Does he.” Your question comes out as more of a statement. Papyrus smirks, but the expression falls quickly.
“He,.. uh… wan’s ya dead.” Papyrus mutters. No surprise there.
“Yea… no surprise there…” Everyone seems to… I left the only ones who didn’t… You pick up the cookie to finish it. The conversation is getting a little dark.
“These are really good.” You state, trying to lift the mood. Papyrus nods in agreement.
“Yea…” he trails off with another foreign smile. He furrows his brow for a second before relaxing.
“So, uh… you.. having a good day?” You ask tentatively. Stop being polite to the enemy! Papyrus flinches, and his eyelights flick downward.
“Err...Ya.. try’na... tease me? Er. somethn’..?” Papyrus asks awkwardly. You feel a bit bewildered, and… actually, no. you’re not surprised.
“No, sorry, just… uh, trying to, ya know, make small talk…” His cheekbones turn a faint dusty pink.
“Er… I’m a’kay….” He shifts on his feet. “You uh.. How’re you?”
“As good as I can be, I guess.” You chuckle lightly. Papyrus lets out a quiet, hoarse chuckle as he rubs his arm.
“‘Umans ‘re weird.” Papyrus mumbles.
“Yea... guess we kinda are.” Compared with his race, you are very weird. “You, wanna sit down?” You're a bit surprised he hadn’t done so sooner, with all those heavy books he’s holding, and all…
“Uh.. yea.” he sets his pile of books on the floor, picks up a paper bag off the top, and to your surprise, hands it to you. “Take this.” His face is on the verg of red. “Got it… before,..” He gestures over to the plate on the torture box. You nod, as he takes a notepad from his pocket, and a book, and sits on the pile. You open the bag to find two muffins.
“Can eat that, Got somethin’ need ta work on.” He opens the book, flipping through some of the pages.
“Did.. you want one?” You ask. He shakes his head. “Thanks, for everything.” You add. Papyrus bobs his head. You want to say more, But it’s obvious that he’s avoiding conversation. You sit back down and pick at one of the muffins ——————————————————————————————————
You finish your muffin. Papyrus has been studying those books for a while now, you think maybe about half an hour of silence has passed now. How old is he? Is he in some sort of monster school? Whatever, you’re bored. Whatever Papyrus is reading must be really interesting… it had to be more interesting than staring at the old wooden ceiling of this shed, anyway. You tiptoe over to Papyrus, and look over his shoulder.
“What’s that?” He jumps and closes the book, but not before you saw some of the oldish style writing and strange pictures. It looked like a diagram of some sort, but it was hard to tell from the quick glance. Papyrus looks over his shoulder and gives you a questioning look, he doesn’t look too impressed..
“Sorry.” You say, biting your lip. You look at the floor. Papyrus is about to say something before a chime from his pocket cuts him off. He curses under his breath, and stands, gathering the books.
“’ll be back.” And with that he disappears. Drat, When did the fire go out?
And... so I've been inspired!!!! By this absolutely amazing piece of art!! I just hope I've gotten the mood right for this! I do hope you enjoy.
A Storm of a Hunt
It's cold… So cold… you ache… every limb throbs… those traps almost killed you, your side still drips with warm blood from those darn spikes… good thing you took that weird pie from the crazy goat man right?… not that It did all that much, you should have listened… what you really need right now is a break and some medical attention a.s.a.p…
But you can't stop, not yet, you have to keep running... as the heavy clouds close in you know something else is closing in on you too… something terrifying… It's footsteps ever so quiet, almost silently crunching the snow beneath them, and so quickly catching up.
You run past tree after tree, deeper into the snow covered forest. It's dense and getting darker by the second … and you don't know if you can run much further…
A howling wind blows in, from where or how you do not know since you're pretty sure you're still in the heart of a mountain, but those heavy clouds now loom over you… as does your inevitable doom. The clouds spew a flurry of snow and ice at you… the storm crashes down on the dense forest...
You've been lucky so far you're sure of that, to survive this long? luck and fate must have been cheering you on, thats for sure… but this thick storm… was it a sign your luck had finally ran out? or would it deter the monster's pursuit? Either way you had to keep going.
You run further into the seemingly unending forest.
Your foot gets caught.
You hit the ground. You fall into the deep snow. You scramble back up as fast as you can only to fall back down again… your ankle. You curse under your breath. You know you can't run now, the only thing left to do is hide.
You look around. You can barely see. The shape of a large tree is just about visible… maybe if you crawl to it there would be a place under it to hide…
You make your way over. Thankfully the snow storm covers your tracks. You hobble around the tree. Looking. Hoping. Praying for a place to hide.
A gap, a crevice in the tree just big enough to sit in. You climb in… hoping that the monster has abandoned his hunt.
You're cold, freezing even, but now it feels like your warming up in the shelter of the tree. You use an old bandage and a worn ribbon to wrap up the worst of your wounds, the best you can with numb fingers anyway.
You rest your head against the tree… maybe a little sleep would make you feel better… yes just sleep the storm away…
You suddenly open your eyes wide! Was that… you think you heard those same soft footsteps… it was hard to tell with the howling wind but you're almost certain… you look out into the dark night, trying to see through the storm…
A light… of a rusty orange and red colour shines like a flame in the black storm… it gets closer… with a step it gets closer and you realise... this is not any light nor a flame… but an eye… a glowing eye…
He steps closer, his form becoming clearer…
He looms over you, a tall skeletal figure…
Two gold fangs either side of his teeth reflect the light from his eye…
His hands stuffed in his pockets confident yet lazy like as bones as sharp as knives appear in a circle above his head. . . Ready to strike as he...
Steps...
One last...
Step...
Closer...
Looking down at you as you press your back against the tree trying to get as much distance as possible… You're efforts? Futile.
You're stuck. Pinned between a rock and a hard place… or rather a terrifying skeleton hell bent on murdering you and a tree… there's no escape…
Surely this is where you die…
You look up to face your demise,  to look him in the eye before he kills you… his eyelight harsh filled with merciless magic, the other socket empty and terrifying...
You feel the strangest feeling well up in your chest… was it the adrenaline? The fear… then why did it feel comforting? Why was it so warm...?
He…
Stops…
You wait…
He does nothing?
Is this a game to him? Torturing you with anticipation… with dread as he makes you wait for death?
….
Was it... your imagination or… did his harsh eyelight… just soften? Another light flickers in from his empty socket as a look of confusion envelops him…
"It can't…" He mumbles in his deep harsh voice as he clutches his jacket above his chest…
He quickly snaps back to scary mode as he raises his hand….
You shut your eyes ready for the strike… Ready to feel those bone knives stab through you… Ready for the end… it would stop you from both freezing and bleeding to death at least… perhaps this is a mercy…
"Darn it what the heck…" He growls…
It can't be, he thinks to himself… why can't I just kill this darn human… this… feelin'... no that's just fiction… a stupid idea… a fairytale of old… but if this human really is… then now I've met em… if I... if they die… Then I would be dust where I stand… What can I do? I can't possibly save them? Or keep them… but it's dangerous out here… they'd die… then I'll die… then My brother would truly be alone...
He sighs as he sits down… and utter confusion consumes you… as it had already for him...
What can I do, he wonders… would Sans take I think this is my soulmate please don't kill them as an answer to why I brought them back alive? He was furious when they escaped his traps… of all the people… maybe I could find a way around that big door and get Asgore to take em back?
He sits in the way of your escape as he thinks… planning, you can only assume he's planning how to kill you…
If the Queen found our though… then I'd be dead anyway… but I can't…
"Ok… ok..." he mumbles and you're now sure he's completely crazy…
I'll sneak em back… try to explain to sans, surely for the fact It might kill me he'd spare them right? and if it doesn't work I'll get em out quick and try take em to Asgore or just something…
He looks back at you, a hint of determination in his eyelights, then...
He grabs your arm...
He's ready to set his plan in motion…
It's Official
A human dating a robot in the pizzaplex? More likely than you think.
Sun and Moon x reader.
Read more on AO3
As you pack up for the day you notice a note on your desk. Strangely enough, Sun hadn't begged you to stay for a sleepover and had insisted on going to his room to recharge or tidy up or something right after his daily maintenance. He was vague and jittery. It had you a little worried but you needed to go home every once and a while anyway, so you didn't push your luck. But the note, your heart sank a little as you walked around the desk and saw your name on the front and a sunny smile drawn in glitter glue.
You know by now that Sun writes notes for anything hard to say in person. It's easier for him than a stress-filled conversation, despite his bad spelling.
But your worries fluttered away as you opened and read the note.
Can I be you're Boyfriend?
[ ] yes
[ ] no
[ ] maybe
A shy smiley sun was drawn in the corner this time with glittery hearts all over the page.
You obviously checked the yes. You then closed the note and left it on the edge of the desk for Sun.
Your Boyfriend was such a silly goober. You went home that night with a smile. I mean not much would change, you're still over at the daycare for sleepovers most nights and you basically already act like a couple so much that your coworkers have started noticing but it's not like you're the only one to fall for an animatronic at the pizza plex…
Either way, it made you childishly giddy. You just couldn't wipe that smile off your face, not even waking up in the morning or traffic could get you down. You don't know what magic this was but you could get used to it.
As you enter the Daycare Sun's head turns 180 from what he was doing to you, his smile stretching across his face. He calls your name as he turns himself in your direction.
“Sunny.” You call him as he starts running over to you.
If only you were in a meadow filled with flowers, instead you're in a brightly coloured Daycare, but really it didn't matter.
You run to him, you jump as you meet in the middle and are caught in a hug as he spins you around.
He says your name once again in a softer warm tone.
“Sun.” You whisper as you nuzzle some bunny kisses.
He puts you down still smiling like a fool.
“I'm so happy you said yes.” He hums.
“I'm so happy you asked.”
His sun rays spin happily around his head and he takes your hand.
He gasps. And bends down a little.
“Am I allowed to say I love you now?” He whispers into your ear.
You nod. “If you want to.”
“Oh, I'm gonna do it.” He giggles.
“Go on then.” You giggle back.
“I love you.” He whispers.
“I love you too.” You whisper back.
“OH, I'm so happy!” He exclaims.
“What does Moon think?” You ask.
He stops. “Uuuuhhh.”
“Does he not know?”
“Well um…” he scratches his cheek. “He might have been napping when I wrote the note…”
“What about now?”
“Napping…”
“Well, we have to ask him right?”
“I have a brilliant plan.” He lets go of your hand and stands in front of you. “We pretend everything is normal.” He points finger guns at you. “And you tell him at nap time.” He then skips off into the daycare.
“Hey! That's not a plan, Sun!” You run after him.
You finally corner him, he sits there in the corner, your hands on both walls, your eyes looking straight into his… for a moment you forget why you chased him. Your brain screams at you ‘Kiss him! Kiss him! Kiss him.’
His eyes slip half closed as he looks at you. You lean in.
A bell rings at the daycare door. You stand straight and dust yourself off. And head to the door to greet your first customer of the day.
You were both completely normal for the rest of the day, super duper normal. For sure. As if nothing happened.
Then came nap time.
You tuck in your last kid and join Moon on the big bean bag, it has always been your spot.
“You've been quiet today.” You hum…
“I have? Oh, I didn't notice.” He retorts.
“Soooo I have something to tell you…”
“You do?”
“Actually ask you.”
“Okay…?” He shuffles in his half of the seat.
“Will you be my boyfriend?”
He freezes for a minute before turning away and covering his mouth. “I could…  um… I could do that… for you, if you want…” he mumbles.
“Is that a yes?” You lean on him.
“Yes…”
You give him a big hug. “Thank you, Moon Moon.”
“So you asked me first, not Sun?” He turns back to look at you.
Now you freeze… “Well… um about that.”
He chuckles. “I thought maybe you'd lie.”
“Huh?”
“I saw the note between you and Sun.” He wraps his arm around you.
“Why didn't you say anything?”
“I thought it was between you two.”
“What? That we just wouldn't include you?”
He shrugs. “That he got to you first.”
“You two are a 2 for 1 deal. A complete package. I can't have one without the other.”
“So…Who's the freebie?” he mumbles.
“Hey,” you whisper-shout to not wake the kids. “Neither of you. I love you both equally. I wouldn't cuddle with you and have sleepovers and love on both of you if I only liked one. It would be a little awkward if I only liked one of you but I know I wouldn't play with the other's heart like that.” You look up at him with a little sad frown.
“I know… I just… yeah, I'm sorry that was stupid.” He presses a little kiss to your head. “You do know what you've gotten yourself into right?”
“Yeah of course.”
“You know what Sun's idea of being your boyfriend entails then?”
“Yeah, being exclusive best friends and cuddle buddies.”
“And what's your expectation?”
“The same duh.”
“And you're ok with that… you don't want something more like human dating?”
“Moon… If I wanted that I'd go date a human, but I don't. I want you guys.”
“Wow, I guess it's official then we're a throuple.”
You almost choke on nothing. If you had a drink it would be nothing more than a mist in the air. He really caught you off guard with that one.
Heya! :3 Saw your sweet Skeleboy Date Idea and would ask for Axe if you´re still open for it! :D Fall Season, raining/Thunderstorm maybe? Daytime should be Sunset or Night, Dinner, Your House/Garden and let it be romantic :3 I love your little Storys hehe
Axe With Thunder and Food.
You hear a little knock on the door so you turn the pan, you were keeping warm, off and head over to answer it.
You open the door and there he stands, your boyfriend, Axe, axe-identally looming over you as usual, because of his height. A dopey grin across his face, an arm full of snacks and a small bouquet tucked away in his hand. He's dressed in a smart casual way, possibly caught by his brother before leaving, his classic beanie hiding his unfortunate injury, his single red eyelight soft and focused on what he surely perceives as your rather small frame.
"Hey Sansy, come on in." You chime, stepping aside to let him in.
"Thanks sweet pea." Axe replies as he ducks under the doorframe to step in. "I brought some snacks." He dumps said snacks on the coffee table. He always brings you a haul of snacks when he visits, and now he even remembers all your favourites, how sweet.
"And." He holds the mini bouquet out to you. "Tada."
What a lovable dork.
"Thank you so much dear." You send him a sweet smile as you accept his gifts. That's when you notice the orange leaf stuck to his beanie.
"Oh let me just." You rest a hand on his shoulder and reach up, on your tiptoes snagging the little leaf. "There, I couldn't leaf that there now could I?" You show him what you found on his head with a giggle.
Axe chuckles his cheekbones a soft midnight blue. He then plants a little kiss on your forehead, and pulls you in for a hug.
"Thanks." He mumbles. "You know... you look really pretty."
Now it was your turn to blush.
"Oh damn, something smells good." He purrs, sniffing at the air.
"That should be dinner, come on you big Teddy bear, let me show you to your table."
You lead him out to the garden, it's a little duller now then when you set everything up out here, oh well, what's the worst that could happen? at least it's still fairly warm.
Axe takes a seat and sends you another one of his adorable smiles.
"I'll be right back." You wave the bouquet in hand as you head in.
You quickly find something as a vase, filling it with water and setting the flowers in it, bringing them out.
"Perfect." You set them on the table, the little flash of colour bringing the whole set up together. "Ok I'll fetch dinner now." You turn around to head back in.
"Wait." Axe says.
You stop in your tracks.
"I… I just wanted to say." Axe mumbles. "You look really nice today, sugar cookie."
You blush yet again and press a kiss to his cheekbone. "You look nice too, sweetie."
You then head back in and serve dinner as nicely as you can, you place a big plate of food in front of Axe and pour drinks before you sit down with your own food before you.
"Bon Appetit."  You chime.
The two of you dig in, casual chatting as you start your meal.
"Stars is this good sweetie pie."
"It's nothing really, but thank you." You sing in reply.
The scent of the food compliments that classic earthy, sweet smell of autumn, not to mention the soft perfume of the flowers.
But the air feels slightly tight and almost thick, the leaves in the trees are still as stone, it's warm and despite being relaxed it feels somewhat tense.
That's when a drop of water lands on your nose, followed by more droplets as the heavens begin to open.
Axe stops. You both look at each other. The sprinkling of rain was sure to get heavier. You both grab all you can. You rush inside.
Your hair damp, his hat darkened by rain but thank the stars your food didn't get spoiled.
You look out the window as the rain gets heavier and heavier, hammering against the glass. The sky grows only darker by the second.
A crash of light is followed by a roar of thunder.
"Shoot."
Glad you got in quick.
"There we go." Axe chimes, while you were distracted he set the table.
"Oh I'm sorry, I should have-"
"It's no problem, puddin'." He cuts you off.
"Thank you." You reply.
An idea then pops into your head. "I know just the thing to make this perfect." You light a candle setting it on the table too, it lights the slightly dark room aglow in a warm orange hue.
"Perfect." Axe smiles.
The storm almost feels like it's faded into the background as you both enjoy finishing your meal together.
"Hey dear, want to watch a movie after this?"
"Sure, I'd love that, sugar plum."
You finish off this night snuggled on the couch, munching the snacks Axe brought, as you watch a movie together, unbothered by the storm outside, until the electricity cut out halfway through, that is.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm glad you like my stories and I really hope you enjoyed this one uwu
More choose a date fics.
A little bonus headcanon, although Axe isn't keen on having a nickname (compared to sans who kept his name) he loves throwing pet names around with his S/O, especially since he knows he can just call you whatever he finds nice (read tasty) and you'll reply, although your name is imprinted on his soul it puts his mind and failing memory at ease. It takes him a while and a dedicated partner to get this far and comfortable in a relationship though.

Chapter list
Chapter 8: Flowers and fallings
You sit at your desk, doing more homework… your favourite little feline jumps up on the desk rubbing his little head against your hand. You put your pen down and give him some well-deserved pets.
He’s grown quite a bit the past few weeks. You feel like homework has been your life for all that time.
“How long have I been at this, hey?” You ask knowing he can’t answer so you check the time. “Oh, a while… Did you come bug me cuz you're hungry?” You coo.
You make your way to the shared space. Sans, Red and Blue were sitting in the living area. You give them a wave as you get your little kitten some dinner.
"That nice?"
He happily munches his food.
You put your hand in your pocket and find a paper? Oh right.
“Hey guys, Got this leaflet they were handing out today, would any of you be interested?” you show them the paper.
“Sorry Doll, not my thing.” Red shrugs.
“Same, Buddy.” Sans shrugs.
“I’M REALLY SORRY HUMAN, I HAVE PRACTICE THEN.”
“Oh, that’s no problem I’ll see if the others might be interested.”
As if planned, Edge, Black and Rus walk through the door.
“Oh hey, perfect timing, I wanted to see if any of you would be interested in this.”
“Looks like a lot of work...” Rus says as he flumps on the sofa.
“GIVE ME THAT.” Black swipes the leaflet. “A GARDENING COMPETITION?”
“Yeah but you need a team soo...”
“I AM RATHER GOOD WITH PLANTS SO I MIGHT AS WELL JOIN YOU.”
“Really? Cool, now we just need a few more to reach the minimum… What about you Edge?”
“I DON’T KNOW, IT SEEMS LIKE A WASTE OF TIME.”
“DON’T YOU WANT TO SHOW EVERYONE YOU'RE SUPERIOR IN EVEN SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS GARDENING OR CAN YOU NOT DO THAT?” Black taunts.
“WELL OF COURSE I CAN, I’LL SHOW YOU I’M THE BEST, EVEN BETTER THAN YOU.” Edge exclaims.
“That’s the spirit bro,” Red adds.
“Awesome, this will be great.”
That weekend, Black and Edge drag you outta the house way too early and down to the college gardens. The Gardening club organised this event for a little help managing the vast amount of bare waist land around the campus, everyone gets a little extra credit for participating. The garden that wins gets a piece in the college newspaper. And well this event is more of a project, so you get a couple months to create, develop and decorate a garden from a piece of land.
The three of you sign up, get assigned a plot and get started on planning.
“WHAT IF WE SPLIT THE PLOT THEN WE CAN SEE I AM TRULY THE BETTER GARDENER?!” Black says.
“GOOD IDEA, THEN I CAN SHOW YOU UP PROPERLY YOU PROUD MIDGET.”
“WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!”
“Hey, hey, hey.” you push between the two. “We are going to get nowhere fighting.”
“MINE IS STILL GOING TO BE BETTER.” Edge huff.
“No. We are a team, our garden is going to be the best, but we're not going to win anything if our plot is too disjointed. We need to work together.”
They roll their eyelights and sigh a simultaneous “FINE.”
“Ok well, first we should have a little theme right?”
“A THEME? FOR A GARDEN?” Edge asks.
“Yeah, a word or idea that brings the whole thing together.”
“WHAT ABOUT TRANQUIL OR SERENITY? WE COULD DO WITH MORE PEACE HERE.” Black suggests.
“I like it, what about you Edge?”
“I DON’T KNOW, I WAS THINKING SOMETHING COOLER MORE STRIKING FEAR INTO HUMANITY.”
You can’t help but giggle. “Ok hear me out, what if we go more philosophical, with, like healing? So it starts as cooler and scary but slowly fades to that peaceful?”
“INTERESTING.” Black hums. “WE COULD START THE FLOWERS IN REDS AND ORANGES THEN FADE IT THROUGH TO BLUES AND PURPLES?”
“Exactly we could do the same with a path starting with black rocks and grey to white.”
“THAT SOUNDS COOL.” Edge adds. “WHAT IF THE PATH BENDS THROUGH THE GARDEN LIKE A RIVER.”
“I LIKE THAT.”
The three of you spend a little more time throwing ideas around and drawing up a little plan. It’s really nice to see them both actually working together, you only had to break up a few more squabbles. What an odd group the three of you make.
Then you get started actually getting your hands dirty. You can’t do much yet but you can get to digging the pathway and preparing the ground at least.
After quite a while Black gets a call from his brother. Seems Rus has gotten into a little trouble? Whatever the situation Black excuses himself. So you and Edge end up staying and working. You didn’t mean to work for this long, the sun is starting to set before you two start cleaning up…
It’s getting dark as you carry the last of the things, Edge leads the way through the plot to the gardening club shed.
“Ouch.” You hit the floor.
He turns at the sound of a crash.
You didn’t notice that… whatever tripped you up.
“ARE YOU OK?” he rolls his eyelights.
“Yeah, I… aw” you try to get up just to fall again. “Darn, I think I sprained my ankle.”
He sighs. “Just wait there as I finish putting things away.” he takes the stuff you dropped and walks away.
You sit there in the dark and wonder if he’ll come back, you wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t.
Before you have the chance to go too far down a rabbit hole of misery he appears before you. How did he?
He holds his hands out to you. You take his hands and he helps you onto your foot. You stand there like a flamingo.
“CAN YOU PUT ANY WEIGHT ON IT?”
You shake your head.
He sighs again. “I’ll give you a piggyback ride,” he grumbles.
“What? You really don’t have to, I’ll just. Hop?”
He scowls at you. “THAT WOULD TAKE WAY TOO LONG.” He turns and kneels. “JUST HOP ON.”
“Ok… sorry.”
You wrap your arms around his shoulders and he stands.
“I’m not too heavy am I?”
“I’ve carried my lazy bag of bones, brother, around.” He mumbles. “You’re fine.”
“I’m sorry…”
“STOP BEING SORRY AND JUST BE GRATEFUL.”
“I’m s-... I am… Thank you. I appreciate it.”
“YOU’RE WELCOME.”
“You’re a great friend.” you mutter. You don’t know if he replied because your eyes felt heavy, you drift to sleep.
“Pathetic little human.” He mumbles to himself, a small smile over his teeth.
You wake when he dumps you on the couch. Blue and Papyrus fuss over you.
Black and Rus come in not long after. Rus just trudges over to his room.
“What Is Wrong With Her?” Black asks.
“Oh, hey. I’m fine, it's just my ankle. I kinda tripped.”
“AND NO ONE ELEVATED, ICED OR BANDAGED IT? USELESS LOT.” He grumbles. “BLUE GET AN ICE PACK.”
“It’s not too bad, and in Their defence, we only just got back.”
He gets a Bandage out and wraps your ankle. Papyrus collects pillows to elevate your foot, and Blue brings the ice pack.
“I told you guys it’s not really that bad.”
“WELL IF YOU REST IT THEN IT WON’T BE A PROBLEM AT ALL.” Black replies.
“Thank you, guys.”

You see them in the distance of the clothes section, where you think you saw them last time, you might as well go say hi right?
You slowly begin to approach, It seems like they've spotted you if the curious stare directed right at you was any indication. As you get closer you notice they're even wearing the same clothes, you get even closer and see the same items in their basket as you. You give them a wave that they mimic perfectly.
You're really getting creeped out now, your heart rate quickens and you begin to wonder whether or not Is it too late to turn back.
You continue on, The worst that could happen is they're a version of you from either an alternative universe or from the future or something, which isn't so bad.... Or it could be a trap set by shape shifting Aliens. No... No it couldn't be anything like that ... right? Probably just some kind of coincidence, You reason with your self.
You take a few more steps forward, wondering if this shop has gotten longer somehow, you push passed the racks of clothes to the open space and before your eyes lay. . . .
A huge mirror covering the wall. So you go home really embarrassed.
A couple of weeks ago you spotted a person who looks eerily a lot like you. Every day since you’ve been back, not to buy groceries but to try and catch a glimpse of that person again.
Today, you spot her.

I remember finding your tumblr through a fanfiction place I THINK-I'm not sure however but if you do have an account on a fanfiction platform?
Hmmm... yes, but I haven’t posted anything to it yet so it would be pretty wild if you found me just through the few comments I’ve left on other people’s work!
Maybe you’re thinking of the fanfic @keziha-writes did for for one of my Inktober drawings?  A Storm of a Hunt?

"I'm glad you asked. My Digital Dream Simulation system it's basically a game console that transports your mind into a universe of my design and while you're in there you have no idea it's a game. The only programme I've made so far is a fairytale medieval setting and is best played by a couple since the FATE code I intergrated brings both players together in a romantic story." I ramble on excitedly as I explain. (1/2)

“That’s...that’s really, really cool,” Red says, trying to process all of this.  One detail sticks in his head.  “Your alternate you is married?  To, uh, to who?”  He shouldn’t be jealous.  It’s not you.  It’s a different you.  It would be like if Smiley was married.  Smiley’s not him.  This other Kezi isn’t you.  But damn if his soul isn’t swelling with envy at the thought of someone else with his sweetheart!

Another Great day of Saving the sharks.
Intro Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 <- You are Here AO3
Chapter 4 A New Fish in Town
A set of blue eyes stare at you in the dim lights.
“What do you think?”
He looks over at you then the new fish floating in the tank, then at you. His expression is unreadable.
“He’ll wake up soon.” you chime. “I think.”
He stares at you some more before he goes over to Neo and pokes his face.
You have to wait until he’s awake to put his monitor on, you’d do it while he slept but the anaesthetic would mess with the monitor and it would scream at you until he was awake.
“I could tell you how we found Neo?”
He tilts his head at you.
“Come here.” you beckon him.
 He swims over. You’re not crazy, you tell yourself, that article said telling stories could help…
“So, we got a phone call…. I don’t think you’d understand that um…. Someone told us he was in danger, so we went to see him and a bunch of nasty fishermen.”
He seems to understand that as he frowns a little. You were trying your best to also tell the story with gestures as well as words, swinging your arms about.
“They were the ones that hurt him, but then they dropped him and we, me and a friend, we saved him.” you finish with a smile.
You think he understood that.
He suddenly spins around and zooms over to Neo. You notice Neo twitch as Ray swims around him checking him over. Ray then takes Neo’s face in his hands.
“I’m not sure that's a good idea…”
Neo slowly opens his eyes, blinking… his eyes then spring open, his pupils pinprick as he shoves Ray off himself.
Ray shrinks partially under the water, an apology maybe?
Neo backs away, he scans the room frantically.
“Hey, it’s ok.” you try to sound as soft as possible. You can tell this might not be as easy.
Ray tries to take his hand but Neo drags him down into the water.
You can’t quite see what’s going on from here so you head down the stairs to watch from the front of the tank.
It looks like a pretty heated conversation, Neo does not look happy. Was this a bad idea? Was finding a luna for Ray a bad idea? Was he an outcast? Did they know each other? They were found not too far from each other… you just hope they weren’t in rival villages or something… Neo leans closer to a nervous-looking Ray, seemingly scolding? Shouting, arguing? You can’t tell you just know it’s too much.
“That’s enough.”
You grab your goggles and jump in the pool. You get between them and push them away. Somehow unscathed. You’re not having them fight like this.
Neo scowls at you and Ray hides behind you. You resurface for air and they both follow. Eye contact was never lost.
“No fighting,” you demand.
Neo backs away.
You then turn to Ray. “Are you ok?” you check over him, no injuries.
“How about some food?” You swim back over to the ledge and drag yourself out of the water.
Ray eagerly followed, seeming already familiar with the word food.
You throw a fish to Ray and he happily eats it. You throw one across the tank to Neo. It splashes in front of him, he doesn’t even flinch and it floats there in front of him as he crosses his arms.
You’ve never had a lunas attitude directed at you like this before, you’ve only heard of it. You’re just a little scared.
Ray seems to notice and puts his fish down going over to Neo. He picks up his fish and offers it to Neo. Neo shakes his head and pushes it away.
Great just great, you save a shark and he doesn’t even want to eat the food you have for him. Ray drops the fish with a dramatic splash and swims to the opposite corner of the tank in a sulk.
Double great. You are so close to pulling out your hair. “It would make my life easier, he said.” you sigh. All you had to do tonight was make sure both fish were settled and feed them before you could go home and catch up on all the sleep you’d missed. It’s already getting late.
They both stay that way for a moment before you see Neo’s resolve crumble as he lowers his arms and glances at Ray… he swims over and taps Ray on the shoulder before lowering in the water so only his eyes are poking out.
Ray crosses his arms looking over his shoulder at Neo before turning away in a big humph. You see Neo seeth for just a second before he grabs the fish and swims back. Ray finally turns to him as Neo thwaps his shoulder with the fish. But Ray stares him down.
Neo rolls his eyes before he bites the fish's head off.
Ok, he’s eating. You feel a little tension leave you.
Ray keeps staring at Neo until he’s eaten the whole fish.
Once Neo’s finished Ray pulls him into a hug and spins him around with a big smile.
You really hope the clinic cameras caught all of that, it was so interesting.
Neo doesn’t look too happy with the hug but he just casually brushes it off. Ray then finally finishes off his previously discarded fish.
Now… how were you going to get Neo to wear a monitor… maybe you should have chosen to suffer the incessant blaring siren the monitor would have screamed at you while the anaesthetic was active in his system.
You put your hand out like you did for Ray, in hopes Neo would catch on.
You instead got a yellow hand placed into yours.
“Well done Ray.” you pass him a small chunk of fish you prepared earlier. He seems happy with that.
“Neo?” you look over to him. He doesn’t recognise his name yet, of course, you’re not sure Ray does yet either, but they won’t learn if you don’t use it. You look expectantly at him. He glances over while picking fish bones out of his teeth and then looks away. Oh, come on.
Ray once again places his hand in yours. You feel a glare your way.
An idea… it could fail or be a great success.
“Ray, could you.” you point to him, “Give this.” you hold the monitor, showcasing it to Ray, “To Neo.” you point to Neo.
Ray takes the monitor and looks it over, it looks like a little black box on an elasticated band. He looks to the one on his arm, back at the monitor back at you.
“Put it on Neo’s arm?” you point to your arm, then to Neo again. “Please?”
He looks around, at you, Neo, the monitor…
“It’ll help him get better.” you point to his, “and you’ll match.”
He seems to get the idea and swims over to Neo and holds his treasure up in the air.
Neo shifts to the side. Ray holds his hand out to Neo. Neo shakes his head.
You did not expect what happened next.
Ray tried to put it on Neo but he dipped under and past him. And blew bubbles at him. Ray took the challenge and lunged for him. You think the mood has been lifted but you’re not sure.
They playfully jump and swim around the pool, Ray chasing Neo like kids playing tag. Finally, Ray corners Neo. They both jolt left, then right like awkward people trying to scoot past each other. Neo makes a move, trying to slip past but Ray instead blocks his escape and slides the monitor over Neo’s arm. A champion, a victor! You actually cheer.
They pop up to the surface to see the commotion you made. You happily toss some fish bites to both of them, Neo actually accepting your offering.
Checking their vitals they both seem stable, even after sprinting around the tank a few times.
You decide to push your luck.
“Neo, come here.” you point his way and beacon him.
He looks around.
“Come here.”
Ray swims over eagerly.
“Alright, you can have one.” you toss him a fish chuck. Hopefully, it will distract him.
“Neo,” you call showing him the treat. He slowly swims over. Getting closer and closer.
You really want him to take the fish from your hand. You hold it out to him.
He’s pushed out the way as Ray takes the fish eating it in one gulp and then holds your hand with a smile.
“That was rude Ray.” You let go of his hand and give him a disapproving look. “Take turns.”
You move over to the side Neo was shoved to and offer him some fish. He takes it and swims off.
That was good progress. You sigh. “You two, look after each other ok?”
It was definitely time to head home before the lights turned off. You’ll be back in the morning just as Ray wakes up but before Neo heads to bed, you might extend dawn for a little. Maybe then you can see about starting language lessons.

Hope you don't mind but I thought I'd use this as writing practice... so I wrote a tiny drabble 👉👈
~~~~~~
“They were out of roses, so I got you tulips. Because I love your two lips.” You say with a wink as you present the bouquet of tulips.
"You know I don't have lips right?" Sans chuckles but despite his words his cheekbones glow a faint blue.
"You get the idea though right?"
"I don't know if I do." He says, but you know he does.
"Well then how about I show you? Hey sugar skull?"
"Maybe you should?"
"Only after you say thank you for the flowers though." You say cheekily as you hand them to him.
"Well thank you for the tulips, flower." He says. "Now how about those two lips of yours?"
"Yeah how about them?" You say as you lean in and kiss him.
“They were out of roses, so I got you tulips. Because I love your two lips.”said reader
(Is that ok to put that??)
With Sans
I’m so sorry.  I can’t think of a way to do this one...
Another Great Day of Saving the Sharks!
AO3 Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4
Chapter 5- A fishes first words
How does one train Mer-creatures to talk? You wonder as you open the clinic door, You’d spoken to Kai as you headed in, and he let you know the tank would be ready for the boys in a few days. the team had done a lot of cleaning, it was once a shark tank but that was a year or so ago, and it’s been empty since. The tank was currently cycling, usually cycling a tank could take weeks but with the right tools, one of the old filters from another tank, live plants and the right additives your team could have it done in a single week, it’s amazing what a bunch of experts can do. Anyway, you’d asked Kai for some tips on teaching fish to talk and he’d been oh-so helpful by telling you to figure it out on your own.
You finally walk through the door and are greeted by Ray jumping out of the tank.
Or well almost it definatly gave you a heart attack.
“Hi to you too.” you send him a wave.
He copies waving back.
“Now if only it was that easy to get you to talk.”
You suit up, leaving your things at the desk, you’ve spent more time at this desk than you have at your own recently. You then cut up some fish filling a bucket. Might as well use their meal as motivation right?
Ray follows your moves like a soccer goalie anticipating the ball to be kicked their way at any moment.
He meets you at the edge of the tank as you walk up the steps. You place the bucket of chum down and sit at the edge of the water.
You haven’t seen Neo yet, he shouldn't have headed to bed yet, you’d even lengthened the dawn cycle so you could spend some time with both of them.
“Where’s Neo?” you ask Ray.
Neo’s little head bobs out of the water.
“Hey, Neo!” You were getting worried he was hiding from you.
 A wet hand touches your knee. “Hi to you two Ray,” you pat his head.
“Now who wants some food?" They both perk up at that. You toss them a cube of fish and even Neo eats it up, swimming just a little closer.
Now how to get them to speak?
Did you even have a plan? Sure you did it was to get fish chunks and then get… them to… talk… a great plan, there are so many details. You sigh. Well if you were being honest you were hoping to get more of an answer from Kai, was he testing you or did he actually not know? You’ll probably never know. You’re kind of wishing you’d worked in a daycare or school at some point in your life, maybe then you’d know about teaching or something.
What is even the first thing you teach them? Food?
You hold a piece of fish just out of their reach. “Food, can you say Food?”
Ray tries to reach the fish but you pull it away. He reaches closer, jumping trying to get it.
Now you feel like a bully… you cave and give him the fish.
Neo tries to take the fish at the same time. Ray got it first but Neo snatched it from his hand. Ray grabs it back and shoves it in his mouth. Neo then pushes him, Ray pushes back.
You grab your goggles about to jump in when you stop in your tracks.
“F-f-f-f freaking S-sea m-m mons’er!” Neo pushes Ray away.
“WOAH WOAH WOAH!” you interrupt “No fighting! That's Bad.” You hand both a handful of fish. “We’re all friends.”
Ray looks at you… “f…f-r-ens?”
“Yeah, friends.” You smile. “Us.” you point to yourself Ray and then Neo. “Friends.”
He points to you, himself and Neo, “f-re-ns. frens!”
“Yeah well done.” you toss him a treat.
Neo swallows a mouth full of fish as he looks at Ray, still offended.
 “Maybe trying this before food was a bad idea.”
“B-ba…” he puffs his cheeks. “Ba-d”
You laugh a little. “Well done Neo.” you chuck him some fish.
Ray tilts his head. “N-n… neee-oh?”
“Good job Ray.” He gets some fish too.
“Ay?” Neo points to Ray.
“That’s close.” another reward.
How did this even happen? They’re speaking!
“Ay, bab.” Neo scowls.
You facepalm. Should you reward that? “No no.”
“No! Ay, frens!” Ray retorts.
“Yes, Ray is a friend. Neo is a friend.” you throw them the rest of the food.
You can’t believe they actually spoke, not just one word but a few, they even strung together a sentence each, it’s incredible. You can only assume Neo might have learnt a little from the fishermen or other sailors that he had encountered while in the wild.
 What to teach them next? OH, you need to compile a report for your boss Henry! You’ll have to CC it to Kai as well, of course, the clinic footage should have picked up when they met and their speech today, you’ll send those and a few of your findings.
You head down to the office and start at the computer, you can hear Ray and Neo babbling like toddlers in the background, not many coherent words are being said but you’re happy they’re learning how to use their voices. It soon dies down as Neo heads to bed in the little cave as the lights brighten. After that, you can hear Ray swimming around the pool.
You can’t wait until the boys get their own tank, they’ll have way more room. It’s only a few more days.
After the report which took you way too long to compile you headed to grab some lunch, you were late for the usual lunch break so you didn’t see many people and not many people have been frequenting the clinic but one or two popped in for a few supplies. As you get back an email chimes through your computer, it’s the weekly order, you’ll finally get to order the boys some better food, something they might hunt in the wild. Neo would probably enjoy some squid, Ray would prefer some catfish and they both might like some crab… A small crate of blue manna, a bag of European Squid and some gaff top catfish should do the trick. actually, maybe live blue swimming crabs might be a good idea, Neo like most lunas seems more of a hunter. You should check if the clinic needs anything restocked. Isabelle has already submitted the order for the other mers, awesome, that means you don’t have to. Maybe some toys like ones meant for dolphins or seals might help entertain them… you scroll through the aquarium store and request a few.
Then it was just a case of cleaning up. It was about time to do a deeper clean around here. You start by re-organising some of the supply cupboards and cleaning all the surfaces. You wipe down the tank glass.
“Clean up,” you sigh.
“C-clee… clean up!” Ray exclaims. “Clean up, clean up.”  he chimes almost in a tune.
You can’t help but laugh.
He chirps a bubbly laugh back at you. “Clean up! Clean up.”
“I am I am.” you giggle.
You would boop his nose if you could reach.
You finish cleaning and feed the boys as dawn mode activates. You just remembered the aquarium they’ll be moving into will have a glass ceiling. They’re going to love that.
It was then time to clock out. You’ll have to have a plan for tomorrow, maybe a quick trip to the library would be a good idea. There’s only one in the area you know will be open this time of day. It was a student library close to the university you studied at.
It was a decent detour but you couldn’t help heading there before heading home, surely there would be something to help right? It’s not like they’ll have a book on how to teach fish to talk but maybe there’s something about helping children?
Even after your school days, you’d been to this library to read studies and study up on fish and mers but you’d never ventured much further than that, or maybe once or twice for some sci-fi or fantasy but definitely never into this section.
You look around at the children's books and parent-help books. You pick up a few kid's storybooks, a book titled, ‘How to get your kids chatting’, and a pack of ‘things and words’ flash cards.
You walk up to the desk with a shy smile.
“Did you find every book you were looking for?” the librarian asked.
“Yeah, I think so.”
She starts scanning your books. “I didn’t know you had a little one?”
You freeze. If you told her you were teaching fish to talk she’d surely know you were crazy.
“Me no.”
She looks at you puzzled.
“I’m um… actually helping look after some kids… for a friend” You rub the back of your neck.
“That’s nice of you.” she glances at you over her glasses as she finishes scanning your books.
“Oh you know, since you’re so mad about fish, I have something for you. Someone just turned this one in.” She grabs a book from the pile of books to her left. The title, ‘My First Ocean Encyclopedia.’ ”It’s a little damaged, someone's little brother discovered markers. Only two pages have scribbles over them but we’ll have to throw it away and buy another, you can have it, maybe those kids will like it when they’re older." She pushes the book over the counter.
“Are you sure?”
She nods.
“Thank you,” you take it and the other things with a polite smile. The boys might like learning the human words for different fish, It might be more familiar than cars and shoes and all the other human things that the stories and flashcards might have on them. You’ll have to sort through them.
You do just that before heading to bed, you’ll be in at dawn to feed the boys and see if your endeavours at the library were worth it.
