Permaculture instructor Andrew Millison demonstrates how your hand is a map of the basic pattern of landform found throughout most of the planet. He then explains how water travels from source to sink in a Permaculture designed landscape versus conventional civil engineering practices.
The terminology in this video describing the landform: Main Ridge, Primary Ridge & Primary Valley was coined by P.A. Yeomans, founder of the Keyline Plan:

Done. The plan here now is a three color print poster. And the real trick will be getting an intense orange ink to work as a keyline...
Meanwhile - my advocacy moment through this art: for anyone not getting much or feeling harmed by their SSRIs, try looking into the new research being done through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies -> maps.org
There's the overzealousness and cult-like irresponsibility that cost the world a promising field of medical research, and landed us into a culture of fear, ignorance, and judgement/harassment. It'll take a lot of effort to climb out of that hole while dodging the pitfalls of the past to remain unbiased and objective. I believe in the serious research many in the MAPS community can bring. You don't have to donate to support their goals -> read their studies. Learn. Advocate.

Overtheline - Showreel from Christoffer Olovsson on Vimeo.
00:00 - Endori for Copenhagen visuals This was one of the first projects I worked on at Copenhagen Visuals. I helped out with assets/props. I did some modeling and built shaders for some of the props. I also did a lot of cleanup and shader work on the cars. I modeled and did shading for the hero button.
00:09 - Chocolate for Overtheline This is a concept video for myself. I looked at industrial videos of how you create chocolate bars and thought of ways to show this in a pleasant and presentable way.
00:16 - Apple VR for Overtheline When I first heard that Apple was working on and planned to release a VR headset. I found a concept sketch of what it could look like. So I took that did a 3D model of it and did a concept on how Apple could present their new headset.
00:22 - Eurojackpot for Copenhagen visuals I was assigned to work on another project (TBA), but before that started I was set to do modeling/shader on the fan and connecting it to the drone, when I moved on to the other project Christian Sjöstedt took over this and finished the model and shader. I also started the initial work (clean up and UV) on the dodo bird for the other part of this commercial, however, Sara Pezzoni did an amazing job on that and deserves all the credit. I´m not a character artist.
00:29 - Varma Koppen for Bästa Kompisar This was done during my internship for Bästa Kompisar I was there to learn 3Ds max and V-ray. So this was part of my journey for photorealism. I'm happy with how this turned out.
00:31 - Boardio for Österlin Communications This was part of a project I took a leading role in at Österlin Communication. It was done for År Package (now Graphic Packaging International) Together with the client, I build a video for each of their main Keylines Boardio, Cekacan, and Sealio. That illustrates how the package is folded and constructed throughout the manufacturing line.
00:36 - Vodafone for Overtheline This was a job I did for Fredrik Swerin. I had a wonderful time working with Fredrik. He had a team working on this and I took a supporting role for this. So I modeled some and kitbashed the rest of the stage and then sculpted the trees for the shot.
00:38 - Over Power for Overtheline Over power is a personal concept video I made experimenting with smoke in Blender then rendered VOD with Cinema 4D and Redshift.
00:40 - Tetra Pak hummus for Österlin Communications I came in at the end of this production the first part of this was made by Erik Roth, and then I jumped in and prepared the 3D parts at the end of the video. Then I think the schedule collided or something but I ended up also comping the last part. 100% team effort.
00:43 - Coca Cola Perfume As a Coca-Cola drinker, I thought it was funny to make a concept video for a Coca-Cola Perfume. It also gave me a chance to make an environmental forest scene.

Currently, the account support in India is available in English but it is soon going to be available in Hindi. The subscription plan for both the user’s Android and iOS is available in India for only 699 rupees monthly. But in the coming time, it will be available for only 599 for all Indian web users.
This is going to be a remarkable step taken by Meta. Although Twitter has already introduced it to us, India has only a few users on Twitter. A large portion of India uses Instagram and Facebook. By introducing ‘Meta Verified’, it will become tough for fake accounts to fool people on these trending platforms.

Tumblr media
This thread was a response to questions about how to build soil. I look at the big picture what helps soil grow & end with a discussions about how towns & cities might be designed to help.
So there’s so much to cover in how to repair things. I’m going to do a slow thread on how the designed and built environment can be directed to soil building and climate repair.
1st thing to think about is what is soil? For brevity i’m going to say soil is the culturing of weathered rock with a food web of microorganisms that leads to making rock nutrients solvable &stores them along with organic carbon. (Soil scientists i know i’m over-simplifying)
I’m talking about aerobic souls formed with oxygen rather than anaerobic. Wetlands souls are amazing and do good. But there are reasons to focus in aerobic for now. (I’m a huge fan of wetlands and pond systems too)
Too much water and too much compaction removes oxygen. The system switches to anaerobes that live by yanking Oxygen off of soil nutrients, making them smell bad and able to leave the soil. They also produce alcohols that prevent plant roots from growing.
So this kind of soil needs: enough air, water, contact with plants (that feed it with sugars and proteins made with photosynthesis and CO2 exuded from their roots.)
Rock weathers into subsoil without a lot of big life, when plants interact with it they build living subsoil through their roots and the accumulation of organic matter on top.
Tumblr media
Living soil is protective. So it actually protects the subsoil from some of the processes that speed up formation. Which is why in natural conditions it can settle into a very slow rate of production.
We have been running civilizations in the use of this built up soil. Turning it killing fungi and structure to get bacterial blooms that feed out Annual crops.
This leads to Erosion rates more similar to mountain systems then the low lands where the soil formed. We are burning through our soil to grow and crash quite a few civs
You have to understand. The buffering capacity of our plants souls* could have handled the CO2 from fossil fuels. Only what we used fossil fuels for was to increase erosion, change the balance of water runoff, deforest, and plow over the grasslands every April. 8/?
*Sorry about the autocorrect to soul. Lol
I have to be off-line for a spell but I’ll continue with a discussion about how we design to accelerate that soil building process. Including some references in case studies
So i want to introduce a few puzzle pieces. The first is the work of this man PA Yeomans. He was a mining geologist who retired and starting thinking about soil care from a Geomorphologist POV
Tumblr media
When he set off to tend his land, the Australian gov provided soil conservation literature focused on contour plowing. Based on the view that soil is precious(it is) but that it’s impossible to speed its production (it’s not)
The main problems with contour based design can be seen from this image by PA. On land contours are not parallel. This slows water but it drains ridges and concentrates water in valleys. Overdrying and overwriting soil at the same time. Can even blow out.
PA developed a way of understanding topographic features to organize landscapes so that: water is infiltrated, spread, extra collected stored as high as possible to re-hydrate during dry times. He realized this could be used to organize everything on broad acre farmland
This prob is too dense for Twitter. But imagine land as big ridges between streams and they have smaller ridges and valleys. Imagine the inflection point in those smaller valleys where the land nicks in like a clavicle * in the pic 13/
Tumblr media
PA called them keyponts and they are : the highest water concentrating point in land, where soils thicken, & any line parallel to this on the land concentrated water above but spreads water below
Now he had a way to organize features. First he placed ponds at those points. Collection drains could be set to collect overland flow and move it into those ponds. Then any roads could follow those drains with minimal impact actually helping water collection.
And bellow, the land could be plowed with a subsoiler that sharpers the subsoil without turning the soil. And he would plow down on ridges and up on valleys which means water spreads.
PAs land:
Tumblr media
And here in red are plow lines (or how to organize and water receiving element such as tree rows to spread water along ridges)
Tumblr media
Roads, buildings, pasture, agroforestry- whatever could be designed. Roads can also be placed along ridges, Trees get planted along ridges & in valleys and along streams with complete connectivity. And humans move out of valleys to ridges, leaving valleys for soil and wildlife.
This planning process is like adding sourdough starter to flour and sugar and adding just enough water. The subsoil can be reached by water, roots, inoculated by microbes. you can rapidly add feet of topsoil. Keyline farms are amazing. They stop flashy creeks & can repair land
And it should be viewed as appropriate for where people live and farm. Ag land not the giant ranges that could be bison prairies.
So there is more. PAs last book was on how these design methods could be applied to cities and towns. That towns could extend along ridges, roads could direct water into Catchment which could water yards then agricultural & reforested lowlands. He called it “the city forest”
The City Forest by P.A. Yeoman hosted on SoilandHealth.org
Library Rules and Copyright Notice
Think about what this would mean. Human settlements designed so they are collectors of water, human labor, and even humanure, directed towards the generation and care of soils and forestry.
So let’s talk examples. Frederick Law Olmstead designed a number of Stormwater collecting parks Into towns. One of the most famous being Boston’s Emerald Necklace. /24
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His son John Charles did something similar when he designed Portland Oregon’s water collecting neighborhood of Lauralhurst. Before the current Stormwater system, Laurelhurst Park was the detention basin.
Tumblr media
Next step in the journey Is Davis California in the 80s where Mike Corbett designed village homes a neighborhood designed to handle Stormwater by soaking it in Swales and orchards rather then management systems
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Village_Homes
Here’s a video of Mollison touring the place in the 1990s. https://youtu.be/v_05oRQxssQ I’ve heated that they have managed several very large storm events that flooded their neighbors. All while building the soil and restoring the water table.
Village Homes with Bill Mollison (improved audio)
So:,remember this and this question: what if we really looked for a city that took this approach?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, here's Siena Italy which started as a number of little settlements and converged in the hills of Tuscany: that big public square is the Piaza Del Campo- built in the key point of the landscape, The roads collect water into drains and reservoirs under the piazzas.
Tumblr media
Link to tweet with 3 Images here
28/ if you look at the landscape you see how this hilltown stayed on the uplands and collected water to irrigate the lowlands.
Tumblr media

Underground passages for water, the 'fountain of the earth' sits at the keypoint, and the lowland valleys are irrigated and saved for soil...

hi! can i ask what your writing process is? like how you plan and develop your ideas into stories? i just really love both la hantise and the cost of a thing:)
oh hi!! it’s so serendipitous that you asked this, because i just started trying out a new process that i actually LOVE and may never go back on again. it’s actually something that @valleydean once mentioned in one of our conversations and i was like “hmm what’s that” and i went down a google rabbit hole
so anyway it’s called a “plot treatment”. it’s apparently more common to do it with tv scripts, but novelists do it too because it’s HELLA useful. essentially it’s more than an outline, less than a draft. you’re writing out specifically what’s happening, but not so much that you’re actually writing the prose (although if dialogue/descriptions pop into your head, you make notes as you go along). rather than explaining it to death, I’ll just show you what I got:
Tumblr media
so here’s the first page of my treatment. i color coded it because I’m an OCD monster. in the right column I have in each chapter the setting, a “hook”, any keylines that pop into my head, and then if anything needs some context, I’ll remind myself of it there too. I also indicate how many scenes I have, since my goal is to keep it to 2-3 scenes per chapter. the color-coding also make me organized when i want to scan through and make sure I’m including enough “context clues” in each chapter, since this is a thriller mystery after all :P
what I love about this is that I can sketch out ALL my ideas for the draft before I even write it. I always have a bunch of notes and thoughts spinning in my head with a new story idea, and this is a place to organize them, rather than scratch it all out in a notebook that’s hard to find (i still do that too, but then I organize them ultimately into this document lol). i just love thinking up scenes as a movie on a screen, and writing that down in a word vomit, without thinking about the “right” words to describe it right away. kinda takes the pressure off:)
and there you have it!! there’s my writing process. :) if you’re curious, i used these articles [1] [2] to read up on it.

𝕸𝖔𝖛𝖊𝖗𝖘 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖘𝖍𝖆𝖐𝖊𝖗𝖘 - 𝖐𝖊𝖞 𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖒𝖘
Animation: A series of linked images placed in a sequence to create the illusion of movement and life
Rotoscoping: It is one of the most simple and accessible ways of animating regardless of level of skill, aimed to create realistic sequenced movement.
Frame by Frame: An animation will only work if key positions are lined up together. There has to be a start and a finish for it to be a successful frame by frame animation.
Looping: Looping is where you have a sequence of frames that repeats infinitely. The first frame is the same as the last frame. It’s like an endless cycle. It’s a labour-saving technique for animation repetitive motions; walking, a breeze in the trees or running.
Illustration: When talking about illustration, it describes usually a drawing or an altered picture of some kind. It can also be referred to the act of illustrating; (creating, drawing, altering etc.)
Sequence: A sequence is a collection of something that is related to each other, put into to a specific order to create motion, storytelling, feel, spark thoughts etc. It is used in animation, related to Frame by Frame.
Narrative: This can be explained as the plot of a story. It most often includes characters and a setting as well as a person or narrator from whose point of view the story is told. It is generally speaking a spoken or written (to later be illustrated/animated to convey this story) collection of connected events.
Chattering: It generally means that each frame in a given animation isn’t lined up completely evenly; general imperfections are often very easy to spot once played back, but with practice, it can be avoided quite efficiently.
Linework/Keyline: Linework can simply be put as a specific technique of drawing lines when talking about art. There are countless ways in which you can interpret linework, some of them being; bold, fine, scattered, clean, sharp, fluid, altering thickness etc. - When talking about keyline, it can relate to linework as the planning part of linework. To give an example of this, it could be that you outline the image or shape of something, planning where the linework has be be placed; keyline.
Storyboard: Storyboards are a sequence of drawings, often with some kind of direction and/or dialogue included within. They are often used for storytelling in film, television productions and comics/comic books.
Animatic: Essentially it can be described as a moving story that is synced up to audio. In the animation industry, it is used to create a rough visual of the final product with the use of the voice recording that they have had their voice actors record. During this process, they can add and take away everything they feel like.
Clean up: This is part of the overall process of animating. It is especially often used in hand drawn/analogue/traditional animation. In this workflow, the first (conceptual) drawings are called roughs, referring to how they are very loose and rough at this stage. Professionally speaking, when the director has approved of these roughs, this is when clean versions of these are created. This process is called clean up. The term of clean up can also be referred to as, for example, when you have done frames in ink and some of it may smudge in the process, you can scan in the frames and proceed by cleaning up the frames digitally.
Turnaround: A turnaround or character turnaround is a type of visual reference that shows a character from at least three different angles. They are essential for mediums that will be showing the character from multiple different angles, such as animation and comics. Another use for these turnarounds is to make sure artists keep their character visually consistent and proportional, to pitch characters for projects and as guides for teams where a bigger group of people will be drawing the character and need to stay on model.
Model Sheet: When talking about model sheets (also known as character board, character study or character sheet) it is mostly understood as a visual representation of a character to understand the poses, gestures and even the personality in animation, comics and video games.

Movers + Shakers  - Monday 14th October 2019
Today we looked at a new brief that consisted of looking at animation in its early stages ie rotoscoping, zoetroping and other formats. This was to purposefully introduce us to the early stages of animation getting us familiar with how it began and how it has progressed over the many years.
The name of the brief itself is called ‘Movers + Shakers’ this name was simply given as the content and task of the brief was to eventually end up with a couple seconds of somewhat fluid animation that portrays movement, however since this is our first animation test in class we are not expected to create animations with having a ‘chattering’ effect. This means that it will look slightly shaky and not so smooth and fluid.
The main themes of visual language we are looking at are texture, tone and form we are choosing to focus on this as we are looking to animate in a semi 3D landscape. The challenge itself is to attempt to create a series of animations that are at least a second long depicting movement of some kind. This interests me extremely as I am very passionate for animation of any kind be it hand drawn or digitally rendered. I am very excited to see what I can/ will create during this period since I already have somewhat of an idea in mind.
The key terms mentioned and need to fulfil this project and brief successfully, are:
animation - a series of images strung together in a chronological sequence to create the illusion of movement/ life
illustration - an image/ set of images completed and rendered to stimulate an idea, concept or narrative making it easier for the viewer/ consumer to handle.
sequence - a set of related images, events, movements, items (etc) that follow each other in a chronological order
narrative - a spoken/ written account strung together in a chronological order, selected to convey a story normal between characters within scenarios and situations
line work/ keyline - the dominant set of lines that visibly define the illustration, normally used with thicker black lines, separating colour and details
storyboard - the graphic planning document in a rough format using only illustrations/ images displayed in a sequence for the purpose of mapping out and visualising the animation before hand. this is used in comics/ mangas that tell the story in a quicker and inexpensive way.
animatic - typically black and white sketches placed to gather in a sequence to to the structure/ form of an animation, technically this is a moving storyboard.
clean up -  the process of essentially ‘cleaning up’ the animation at the end. may it be to re draw over the rough sketch with finesse and technicality (digitally or by hand) then edited and smother by using a digital software.
turnaround - an artwork representing an animated character of choice shown in at least 3 alternate projections (usually front, side and profile). this is used to help the animator understand the composition, shape and size of a give character.
model sheet - an art work of a character expressing a character across a range of different emotional satus’ to help the animator understand the characters individual traits and personalities
looping - a labour saving technique for repeating repetitive motions such as a character walking, a breeze blowing ect. This loop is created so when played back it will seem seamless wiht the last and first frames being similar/ the same
Since we’re starting a new brief we are expected to research a person of instrest realted to the task at hand. In class we were introduced to Mr Eadward Muybridge a british photographer who, (you could say) began/ started the whole idea of roto-scoped animation. More information will be spoken about in another blog, that willbe entirely dedicated to his work and my attempts to recreate his work. On the other hand aswell as Muybridge I will look at other artists/ influencers who could’ve inspired the art of roto-scoped animation.
By looking at the brief more in detail, I can see many links to the preivous brief, as the previous breif looked at surrealism and hyper reality while being tasked to create anthropomorphic characters that channel surrealism whereas this task develops that and takes it one stop further by taking our character and making them move in an animation of some kind. Be it a walk cycle, talking secquence, jump sequence ect. All just have to be looped cycles. This links as during Muybridge’s time people were taken a back with Muybridge’s first work ‘Horse in Motion’ as when shown, and if shown with audio to go with it, conviced them that a horse was running infront of them without there being an actual horse present infron tof them.

Seven Awesome Things You Can Learn From Outdoor Fish Tank
In her ebook weight-reduction plan for a small planet, frances moore lappe argued greater than 35 years in the past that grain-fed cattle have been primarily "reverse protein factories" as a result of they required many extra pounds of plant protein to supply a pound of flesh. The advantage of shopping for a complete prepared-to-go aquaponics stem meals growing system , or an almost full quick Fish Aquaculture package like those you see on this web site is you know they'll work and they will work effectively. Since tilapia have a really environment friendly feed-to-protein feed-conversion ratio, develop very quickly and may be crowed” in very excessive populations inside the fish-tank part of the system, they're probably the greatest candidates for aquaponic production. Proof of fish seize and on-growing in ponds and lagoons date again to more than 2000 years ago whereas friezes from historic egyptian tombs (tomb of aktihep) show tilapia being harvested from ponds way back to 2500bc. For the reason that crops don't need grime, aquaponics allows Fish Farming gardeners to supply extra food in much less house. If little culling is anticipated and fish will probably be mass produced, typical pond manufacturing services and methods suitable for regular carp might be adapted.
Nationwide marine fisheries service (nmfs) commercial providers: aquaculture and seafood - comprises leads, current and historical trade statistics, import requirements, information and regulatory data. After which there are on-land fish farms, which exist in closed systems that draw water in and flush waste out. And in addition to producing a healthy product Aquaponics Tank low in fat and excessive in omega-3s, shellfish farms clear the water of excess vitamins. Certified naturally grown doesn't offer certification for the fish in an aquaponic system. One frequent drawback in ponds is excessive algal growth. However the firm's agriculture enterprise division assistant supervisor alfred tham recently informed enterprise insider that the farm has quadrupled its square footage and food output. The ecovillage training center on the farm offers a tremendous alternative to experience permaculture in motion; the farm's 1,seven- hundred acres will bear an enormous keyline design and implementation during and after the course to assist drought proof the group and put together for future rising.
Learn to layout your farm and optimize for plant and fish manufacturing and find out about the advantages of a decoupled system to optimize for each environment independently. Generally the nets retaining these fish in malfunction and the escaped fish spread their illness and genetic modification to wild populations. We need to see farms profitable over the lengthy haul and never be one Fish Tank Garden other statistic within the growing line of aquaponic operations making a giant splash early on after which folding up inside two years. Skretting is the market leader for diets specifically designed for recirculating aquaculture methods.
There are the smaller sized ponds used for hatchlings, spawning, or fingerlings (baby fish) manufacturing whereas the larger ponds hold the growing fishes at differing levels of progress. The first thing you will have to learn about this technique is that it combines the ideas of aquaculture with those of hydroponic gardening, thus ensuing a brand new and highly effective approach of growing vegetation and fish at the similar time. Greenhouse aquaponics is probably the most difficult aquaculture technique, requiring a excessive level of administration and parts Outdoor Fish Tank equivalent to a water pump and aerator. We are centered on just one side of the general effort in turning into extra self-reliant in meals manufacturing and that's within the space of soilless farming,” he says. Land-based fish farms in the united states produce solely a fraction of 1 percent of the 7 billion pounds Best Fish For Aquaponics of fish we'd want if every american ate as a lot fish as the federal government guidelines recommend.

Makhosazane Kubheka’s resilience pays off
By Nomfundo Cele
Tumblr media
Makhosazane “Khosi” Kubheka , an entrepreneur, podcaster and YouTuber. Image: supplied.
If they say "never let your past determine your future," the 26-year-old resilient entrepreneur lives by that saying. After suffering from depression and nearly committing suicide, she now spends her days speaking about her experiences and journey to raise awareness about mental health and how God has blessed her.
Makhosazane "Khosi" Kubheka grew up in the Kwadabeka township, north-west of Durban. She is the fourth of seven children. She describes her childhood as "bad," claiming that she grew up in an unhealthy, violent home after her father began drinking alcohol and emotionally and physically abused her mother.
She revealed that writing helped her cope with the situation at home.
“I would write down every feeling I had. I would create stories in my head and write them down,” "That helped me escape my reality," said Kubheka.
When she became pregnant at the age of 20, she was embarrassed and shy because she was a God-fearing Christian and people judged her. She said that her sister's support helped her overcome her embarrassment.
She unexpectedly lost her baby when she was seven months pregnant, and she said it broke her heart.
"It was really hard. I remember I had to pray and reason with God to please wake my baby up. What made it very painful was that I had experienced the baby kicks," said Kubheka.
She said that she suffered from depression after the loss of her child and nearly committed suicide as a result of the pain.
"I was always on my bed. For two months I couldn’t go out. All I did was cry and I made a decision to commit suicide,” "I overdosed pills but nothing happened. I didn’t even go to the clinic and now that I think about it , it was God’s grace," said the devoted Kubheka.
She said that it was a church friend who would always come to her house and tell her about God and the church that convinced her that it was time to pick herself up and return to church.
“I went back to church and told my pastor that I wanted to start attending bible college, my pastor was open to the idea, so I enrolled in the bible college and I learnt a lot there, including dealing with my past and how God has a plan for me. I just need to be resilient," said Kubheka.
Warren Ndlovu, a friend and brother in Christ , describes Kubheka as a strong, caring, and firm believer.
“I remember when I was visiting her at the hospital , she looked stunning with her messy hair,” “I remember that day because I was so happy and felt very lucky to have a sister like her because even on her hardest days, she can still have her beautiful smile shining brightly, "said Ndlovu.
Kubheka recently created her own YouTube and podcast channels, where she discusses mental health, relationships, and God.She hopes to encourage young girls to open up about their relationships and experiences in order to avoid making the same mistakes as the previous generation.
Kubheka holds a certificate in film production from MovieTech Film and Television College as well as a graphic designer certificate from Keyline Digital Design College. She currently works in the media department at His Church New Germany and owns a graphic design business that provides services such as banner design, brochure design, business card design, invitation card design, and poster design.

About the Clave being feared for no reason, for me its even more clear with the Shadowhunters. Alec spent all season 1 running after his siblings trying to keep them from breaking too many rules and clearly afraid of the consequences. And there were some with Izzy's trial and the Lightwoods losing the institute. But even so Jace and Izzy (and Clary) committed treason and it was all forgotten as soon as they returned the cup. And Aldertree can torture, Alec can blackmail a superior, they can....
change the HoTI without bothering to ask the Clave (let's be real, Jace at most could have made a recommendation and quit in rl), can publicly argue with one of the highest rank officials, can allow a exiled (Maryse who has been accused of treason) in one of their bases and keep exchanging information with her, can lie to the Consul face after their possesed friend has killed the Inquisitor, can put in motion a high risk plan to clean the keylines without approval...
The scariest thing the Clave did in the entire show was re-open Maryse’s case without cause and deruning her. Now, that is truly terrifying because it means the Clave can change their minds about anything at any point and then reinforce the new decision. I just wish that was the point of that storyline.
Other than that, as far as oppressive institutions go, the Clave is quite lenient as evidenced by all of those moments you brought up. Unless they finally managed to get their hands on you because then they burn you to death. That wasn’t lenient at all.

Difference between Spot Color Printing and Four Color Process Printing
There are two principle printing measures you should think around: Four color process printing and spot-color printing. I'm not a printer, so I'm not going to jibber-jabber on with regards to cleaning covers, shading moving, guillotining, or the excellence of the Heidelberg Speed master XL 105, however amazing as it very well might be.
Many mix-ups are made when spot tones are blended in with 4 color process colors and afterward shipped off the press. It's very entirely expected for organizations to set aside cash by running a huge Four color process (CMYK) print work and afterward 'overprinting' the stock with spot shading dark 'text just' plates. I work with various distributors creating different language books that utilize this procedure. They overprint distinctive dark language plates onto similar pre-planned shading books. At the point when this happens, it is the obligation of the originator to guarantee that all overprint settings are right and that all text has been shaded with the 'fifth shading' pattern (typically with dark set up as a spot color).
Tumblr media
This Is Jumping The Gun, Though, So For Now, Let’s Just Focus On The Basics Of The Two Processes.
Spot color printing creates brighter more brilliant, more energetic outcomes, yet with a more modest shading range. When imprinting in single (spot) colors, a solitary shading ink (regularly with a Pantone reference number) is applied to the print machine roller. In case there is only one tone to be printed, there will be a solitary plate and a solitary run of the press. In case there are two tones, there will be two plates and two runs, etc. The tones are layered onto the paper individually.
Tumblr media
Spot color printing would be regularly utilized for occupations that require no full-shading symbolism, for example, for business cards and other writing material, or in droning (or duotone, and so forth) writing like dark and Screen Printing Near Me .
Four-color process printing includes the utilization of four plates: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Keyline (Black). The CMYK craftsmanship (which you will have provided) is isolated into these four tones – one plate for each tone. The four CMYK inks are applied individually to four unique rollers and the paper or card ('stock') is then taken care of through the print machine. The tones are applied to the stock individually, and out comes the full tone (four shading measure) result.
Here is an illustration of Four shading measure printing and three instances of spot shading printing. There is a ton of flexibility in planning for a spot shading print run - trial and see what brings about you can accomplish!

Festival Research:Brand A Festival
The visual identity of any event plays a huge importance to its success.
Graphics for branding a festival.
Here are some tips to be sure that will make any event looking good using graphics.
Step 1: What graphics already exist?
Overall what we’re talking about is branding. Your event should represent the same message throughout the designs. For example,If you use a massive yellow circle on your main poster, as the audience they should see that circle everywhere. It should be coherent, recognisable and easily understood by your target audience. Is the event related to a business? Does the business have a logo? Or is the event itself trying to generate an identity for itself? Is it a one-off event, or will there be more?

Step 2: Who are you communicating with?
Who is your target audience? You’ve got to think – who am I trying to reach with my event? What is the best way to visually communicate with this type of target? Are you going to need to use the internet to spread the word or will a few black and white photocopies on a lamppost work.

Step 3: Colours
Are you working with corporate colours? What is your printing budget? When considering the colour palette for your event, you’ll need to take into thought any already existing logos, to make sure that they will work with the new tones.
Tumblr media
Step 4: Typography
Are you going to be producing a lot of printed material? Will you have elements that are heavy in text content? Remember that if you’re going to be producing a lot of reading material, you may need a font with serifs to improve readability. Also obviously check for spelling mistakes and typos, nothing looks less professional than a flyer with an error on it.

Step 5: What printed graphic elements do you actually need?
I had use the music festival as an example because I think it’s one of the most common event categories in terms of possible graphic implementations, but the advice on this post should work for any occasion.

Step 6: The printers
This needs the most planning. Don’t underestimate the amount of time it can take to print your designs. If you can organise it well in advance with your printers, you’ll save loads of cash and nerve cells. Ideally allow around 2 weeks for delivery of bulk orders of T-shirts to save the pennies, for example.

Graphics of all types are primary, important branding tools that allow you to personalize the messaging for any event.
Case Study 3: Form, the Studio Branding the UK Festival Big Guns
London-based studio Form has a long history of working with music clients, having spent the last two decades working on projects for the likes of Elbow, Scritti Politti, Depeche Mode, Ministry of Sound and Girls Aloud.
Over the past few years the agency has also tackle some major rebrands for some of the UK’s largest and most established festivals: Reading and Leeds, Latitude, and V Festival. The first of these was in 2012, when it created a bold new look for Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Form got involved after Melvin Benn of Festival Republic, the owners and co-produce Reading, Leeds, Latitude, Wireless, and Download festivals, invited them in for a meeting. “We got on really well,” says Form co-founder Paul West. “I’ve got massive admiration for [Benn], he always briefs face to face and we enjoy those conversations, and we bonded through that and our shared passion for music”.
The key to the approach for Reading and Leeds was simply to celebrate the festivals themselves. “We didn’t need to put anything too hooky in it for the visuals,” says West. “They’re world-famous events so we just thought let’s colour coordinate Reading as red with Leeds as yellow, and that worked fantastically from posters to the stage scrims in full bleed red or yellow. It really just took off from celebrating the greatness of the brands.”

The red for Reading was a play on the name itself, and Leeds’ yellow was chosen for its ability to stand out, as well as the fact that “when we looked at festival branding around the world, there weren’t many that relied on vivid colors”.
Off the back of that work, in 2014 Form was brought in to create a new look for UK festival of music and literature, Latitude. “We were massive fans and had been going for quite a few years and loved it,” says West. “We really understood the festival and loved that it was about music, art, literature, and raving in the forest at night; or watching the sunset over the lakes.”
The designs drew on the beautiful festival setting by the lakes and forests of Henham Park, near Southwold, Suffolk. “We just wanted to celebrate the beauty of the festival,” says West. “We used a decorative font for the logo but wanted to keep it tight and graphic. The logo incorporates a keyline diamond graphic, which is an interpretation of a compass, so playing on the idea of lines of latitude.”
Form then went to the festival site a week before it opened and then captured the whole festival with photographer Peter Beavis throughout the day and night, and used the resulting imagery to create “a whole canon of really amazing images,” says West.

Event as Branding
The most successful and honest festival branding, it seems, relies not only on type, color, logomarks and a suite of photography, but on creating a holistic identity built around more abstract and experiential concepts.

NFL team with best new uniform
The 2020 offseason has been a hotbed of activity for new NFL uniforms and logos. The Los Angeles Rams had already revealed new logos in March, but on Wednesday the team introduced rebranded uniforms, which includes a blue jersey featuring two-toned numbering.
The Rams are one of seven NFL teams to have introduced a new uniform, new logo or both this offseason. The Los Angeles Chargers in late April revealed a refreshed look that includes a signature powder blue, gold and white color scheme that has interchangeable pants and jerseys. The New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons rolled out their uniform changes in March. The Indianapolis Colts unveiled a new logo and tweaks to their existing uniforms.
Let’s recap the new looks and vote on which team has the best new uniform.
New uniformsThe Rams’ rebranding effort, including uniforms and logos, began in 2016 when the team relocated from St. Louis to Los Angeles. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams’ new look includes a blue jersey featuring yellow gradient numbering, with interchangeable blue or yellow pants. There is also an off-white jersey and pant combination. The Rams’ new helmet is a vibrant metallic chrome blue, with a gradient yellow horn and blue face mask.
“I already told my friends this is the coolest jerseys I ever wore, I ever got to put on,” Rams receiver Robert Woods said.
The Rams’ new look on their logo has been a work in progress since they returned to Los Angeles in 2016 after 21 seasons in St. Louis. But not everyone is a fan of the new logo, including Rams Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson, who met with the front office to discuss unhappiness with the change. But the Rams have no plans to re-think the new look.
The Patriots’ 2020 jerseys will include some minor alterations (such as the fonts on the numbers and nameplates) from these Color Rush blue uniforms like Sony Michel and Julian Edelman wore in 2019. Bob DeChiara/USA TODAY Sports
The Patriots’ new jerseys should look familiar: The Color Rush alternates that the team has recently donned have been promoted to full-time status.
It is the first change to the Patriots’ primary uniform in 20 years.
Since 2016, when the alternate jersey debuted, the Patriots have posted a 6-1 record in it — wearing blue at home and white on the road. The team will continue to wear blue at home and white on the road, while donning blue pants both home and away.
The Browns opted for a more classic look with their new uniforms. Courtesy of Cleveland Browns
The Browns say they are getting back to their roots with a “simplified, traditional look,” harkening to their 1964 NFL title team led by legendary running back Jim Brown. The tweaked look features brown jerseys with white pants, and white jerseys with brown pants.
“As you look at iconic franchises like the Browns, the Bears, the Packers, the Cowboys — they’re true to who they are,” executive vice president and owner JW Johnson said. “They’re not doing a lot of changes and trying to make a lot of flashy moves with their uniforms. I think when we went through the process, it just felt right that we got back to who we are and who we’ll always be.”
The Buccaneers unveiled new uniforms that pay homage to their best years. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs’ new uniforms pay homage to the winningest era in franchise history, from 1997 to 2013, which included a Super Bowl title. Gone is the font for jersey numbers that fans complained were too difficult to read. They have three color combos instead of their previous two: red, white and an all-pewter look for Color Rush games.
The Falcons unveiled new uniforms for the first time in 17 years. Twitter/@AtlantaFalcons
The Falcons introduced on April 8 their first uniform redesign in 17 years. The home uniform has black jerseys and pants with the road look featuring white jerseys and pants. There will be up to eight uniform combinations, including a throwback version to the 1966 team and a “Rise Up” alternate uniform.

The Chargers are the latest team to unveil their new uniforms for the 2020 NFL season.
The Bolts’ refreshed uniform look includes a signature powder blue, gold and white color scheme that has interchangeable pants and jerseys. The design features a simplified bolt on the jersey and pants, and numbers have been added to helmets.
“That all-white is sweet, man,” former Charger and Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson said. “Can’t go wrong with the all-white.”
The Chargers also introduced an update to their Bolt logo earlier this spring. The three-tone Bolt with a navy keyline has been reduced to powder blue and gold.
New logos
The Colts are keeping their uniforms relatively traditional, but they announced on Monday a new logo style that honors their home state. The “C” on their uniform will have the outline of Indiana on the interior part of the letter. There are also seven grommets around the “C” to represent the horseshoe. That logo is being added to the inside of the neckline of the uniform.

This thread was a response to the idea that we should put aerosols in the atmosphere. There are solutions we could be putting our energy towards:
Most of the proposed responses to climate change don't fundamentally address one of the largest sources and solutions to the situation: restoring soil through regenerative agriculture and grazing. Current agriculture is rapidly causing soil to lose carbon- and this is fixable.
the numbers vary as the destruction of soils is so backgrounded that it has only recently been brought into international discussions. But the levels of carbon storage in living biological soils are enormous.
but it is reasonable to attribute 30-60 ppm of the problem to soil loss which opens up a big realization: the WAYS we've used oil is as big of an issue as the use itself. how have we used it? by combing over the world's carbon storage every April.
i know a lot of people have come to see Organics as a luxury but it's important to remember where the word comes from: a focus on the organic matter content of soil rather than applying salts and fertilizers which kill soil biology.
we used around half of the world's oil to tear apart and oxidize the carbon storage in the soil and, unlike a lot of the BIG PLANS out there to block the sun or fertilize  oceans, fixing soil loss would be a way to direct our remaining oil energy to solve a TON of other problems:
if we were to focus our civilization onto restoring the basis of life: the storage and moderation of water, the capacity of landscapes to support complex grasslands and forests, then we can have a basis for a future.
Regenerative Agriculture is possible & understood: polycultures, agroforestry, silva-pastoralism, intention planned grazing: all can mimic and work with natural systems and restore the link between CO2, plant, fungi and bacteria, and soil storage. While feeding people. Right now.
This is the one change this is within our grasp that can happen on the scale of space (pretty larger areas) and time (in a time-frame of 10ish years) that can actually fix a number of problems that are about to be irreversible:
ocean dead zones, the breakdown of communities, lack of local resilience, lack of jobs, broken food system, famine, flooding, die-off of insects and the food-webs that need them, etc etc etc
since the start of the industrial revolution we have used around 944,000,000,000 barrels of crude oil. Which has the same amount of energy as 91,752,708 first atom bombs.
right now, at the peak, we use 87,421,000 barrels of oil a day, which has the energy of 8,500 atom bombs.  every day we use that energy to forge metals, throw cars down the road, lift buildings, but also to rip apart the landscape.
taking apart soil has grown a large population but it also lead to the loss of more than 1/4 of all farmland over the past 50 years. and it's accelerating. what if we use that energy to stop erosion, improve infiltration, plant trees, inoculate subsoils with important microbes?
just to put in perspective the sheer energy part of the problem: “The energy released so far from crude oil is only 100th of the energy of the impact of the astroid that killed the dinosaurs 65 MYA.“

Ruddiman has argued that agricultural climate change started 10k years ago
Tumblr media
and we are ON TRACK for the catastrophic predictions of The Limits to Growth by Donella H. Meadows and others:
Tumblr media
but the thing is, building soil back isn't impossible and with a coordinated effort, a lot can happen. in 1970 Earl Butz changed farm policy to subsidize corn production, agriculture is one of those things that can instantly redirect a huge amount of fuel energy into new goals.
and at the same time, it is something people can do on personal, local, regional, state levels as well: we don't have to wait for the power to change.
a simple thing is to start to find soil-improving ways to replace degenerative agriculture. One I suggest is to start seriously considering Chestnuts in urban and residential contexts as a carbohydrate source. Perennial, carbon-storing, and able to produce as well as grains.
another is to rethink meat but not in the ways you think. right now, convention production is unsustainable pollutive & requires mass grain agriculture But when cows are managed in tight moving herds/they are able to be used for ecosystem repair. I have seen this with my own eyes
grassland & predators coevoled w/ clumped herds of grazers hitting deep-rooted perennial grass & moving on built the massive storages of carbon rich soil that allowed agricultural civilization to start. Now we've used up what they made: it's time to restore it. not dimming the sun
we could be planning our cities, towns, and residences to spread and store water, improve soils, and also store carbon. I would recommend looking to the water systems of Italian hilltowns, the parks of Olmstead, and the soil-building keyline systems of PA Yeomans for inspiration,
if humans started put as much energy into the improvement of the foundational life support systems as we do for the high trophic levels of tech we wouldn't have half of the problems we have now.
because we would be net-producers and ecosystems would grow in our footprints. this is possible. we know how to do it.
o, yeah, we all have to build as much soil as possible over the next ten years. not all of us even realize there is a problem so we'll have to build soil for them too. We can do this.
To put it in perspective it will require taking all of our ag lands and raising the organic matter content of the top foot by about 9%. We can shatter and inoculate subsoils and rapidly improve them through compost teas, restoring grassland, and stopping microbe-killing ag

So wow thanks for all the reads likes & retweets. I'd like to say that i've been working on these issues for years, though i'm taking a hiatus to study spatial data science to be more useful. Two years ago I was building a project to implement these ideas, and i still intend to. (LINK)
I also still keep open my ongoing gofundme fundraiser that paid for a lot of my initial research. For every $5 I get I devote at least an hour of work toward my project.

one VERY important piece to add. Most of the ideas and techniques we have in our toolkit were worked out by, the use-rights held by, and the knowledge taken from indigenous people. So when I give talks I spend a LOT of time on this slide:
Tumblr media
well-meaning white people: "but we are trying to repair the planet. it's a good use" if it's the  technique that will work and the indigenous developers of the idea don't want to grant use-rights, then give them back the land
I did a follow up thread with some answers to questions here: LINK
