Character development questions! How do they position themselves in a group? Do they like to be the center of attention, or do they hang back at the edges of a crowd?Due to Ethan’s nature he naturally levitates towards the outskirts of a large crowd or towards the walls of a room. He does not mind that at all though and is very much aware of it as he feels more comfortable in such a position, being able to have more personal conversations while not paying attention to everyone. What are they like in motion–in different environments, and in different activities? What causes the differences between these?Depending on the situation and what Ethan knows about it he will act very differently, but in any case he will be alert and attentive enough to give quick responses, no matter what the need. How are they bodily expressive? How do they use nonverbal cues such as their posture, stance, eyes, eyebrows, mouths, and hands? You can tell a lot about how Ethan is feeling from his body language alone. This can be both in and out of conversation, his face being the most notable indicator. When Ethan looks away, that means he’s probably not sharing something, as in most conversations he will maintain eye contact, for example. Fidgeting and constant movement would indicate concern and discomfort. After spending more time with Ethan, one would realize that these cues are consistent and really help you in understanding him.Are they more shaped by nature or nurture — who they are, or what has happened to them? How have these shaped who they’ve become as a person?Ethan’s character has been primarily shaped by nurture, his interactions with people as well as the events early on his life. From there he was able to draw his own conclusions about how he wanted to present himself to the world and what he thought would be best. Of course there are certain aspects stemming from nature that constantly influence him, but nurture makes him who he is.What is their preferred level of activity and stimulation? How do they cope if they get either too little or too much?Ethan is a very self motivated person and so he doesn’t need a lot of external stimulation to do something he wants to, even remotely, get done. He prefers to stay busy throughout the day, with different levels of productivity but as long as he is active consistency, he will be happy. How do they understand the world–what kind of worldview and thought processes do they have? Why?He is a firm believer of seeing the world as inherently good, looking for something positive in everything. This is because very early on he realized that a negative attitude and perspective rarely gets anyone anywhere, when he viewed the world like that only bad things ever happened to him. And so he decided to change completely, and so far its done him more good. What do they wonder about? What sparks their curiosity and imagination, and why? How is this expressed, if it is?Just about anything, why people act a certain way, why things work the way they do, what his greater fate is. If you ever catch him sitting by the and simply looking out its likely his mind is grappling with any of these questions.

Angst questions
1. What’s one experience your character had that made them very afraid?
well, uh… colonialism for one. though, if you want a very specific example… jackie has a phobia of tobacco that has been conditioned over the years. YES, tobacco was VERY important to the american economy, but she associates it with severe neglect from the british empire. often times when america would request supplies because of having such poor living conditions, the british empire didn’t really care and just kept pushing the tobacco industry. it was a fear that was psychologically conditioned.
4. Has your character ever been hurt or betrayed by someone they thought they could depend on? What happened?
ABSOLUTELY. by many people, actually. at this point, relationships to her always have to do with benefit. she doesn’t have many genuine relationships and they often just consist of her using them or them using her, and that’s all she sees in her relationships. of course she had been heavily dependent on the british empire (not that she chose to be, but the fact she was colonized and HAD to be). it hurt even worse, because she didn’t WANT to be under this rule, and they STILL neglected her (not to mention the extermination of her people, which continued even AFTER the revolutionary war). it has to do with what i talked about in the previous question.
9. Is the character a victim of abuse?
yes. her personality disorder stems from abuse, actually. she is constantly in fight or flight mode thanks to it.
10. What were the character’s parents like? What was the affect the parents had on the character?
jackie was born to a lovely powhatan family. they were very caring and loving! they shaped her need for fun and knowledge in the best way possible. she loved them with all her heart! they gave her her name (2 names actually, given AND secret/spiritual), which she holds dearly to herself. unfortunately, they were human and she isn’t, so of course she had to see them go.
15. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?
at this point, her largest, most general fear is losing power. she’s caught up in a world of being a superpower, and she will do anything to hold onto that. she gets incredibly paranoid when that’s compromised, and it shows through events like the cold war. she responds immediately with anger and defensiveness, which is a good portrayer of fear to anyone who knows her well (which is no one, haha).
27. What would be the worst way to die, in your character’s opinion?
in a way that isn’t extravagant or positive. she wants to be remembered for her greatness, and absolutely wants people to speak fondly of her if she were to die. good thing she’s relatively immortal though!

ANGST HC MEME || open
1. What’s one experience your character had that made them very afraid?
This would have to be having the plague. Because she didn’t just have it once while it circled through Europe, she died from it multiple times and those deaths were the worst thing she’s ever faced. It caused her to be paranoid about germs in the modern day and develop a case of minor (not so minor) OCD. Twice a week she wipes her house down from bottom to top and she’s constantly washing and sanitizing her hands. She doesn’t do it so much when she touches a person so much as when she just feels dirty, so it’s almost purely a mental thing.

23. Is your character more physically or emotionally strong? Why is this?
To say Carina’s physically strong would be a bold faced lie. Looking at her it’s easy to tell that she has trouble carrying boxes over fifty pounds more than a few feet. With this in mind it’s really easy to be more emotionally strong, and that’s where most of her strengths are. Sure her judgement can be cloudy and cause her to be a disaster in the face of some situations but for the most part she can endure a lot of things. Her resilience is something to be admired, if nothing else.

the only thing i can get behind would be for native OCs because you go to any native on earth and we will brag about our tribe/cultures being virtually unchanged and intact for like 12,000 years
[[ you have a point here! but if it’s like idk a country that can’t be that old no matter how hard you try I’m like :| ]]

1. How do they move and carry themselves? Pace, rhythm, gestures, energy?
Saima has a fairly smooth and controlled kind of way of movement. It feels natural when they move or something - but there’s something about their gestures that feels a little languid, a little bit like opening up a little bit to people through their actions.
Their rhythm adjusts to the energy of their surroundings - so that they try to keep up with wherever they might be on a given moment. In general though, they keep a brisk walking pace and trying to move in an efficient matter.
Their energy is quieter, it increases during certain periods but - for the most part, they maintain a very calm and relaxed presence. It feels like these days they can be collected and put-together despite everything that might being going on within their minds.
12. How are they bodily expressive? How do they use nonverbal cues such as their posture, stance, eyes, eyebrows, mouths, and hands?
They do a lot of expression through their eyes. It’s very easy for someone to tell how Saima really feels through they look at someone - narrowing eyes, widened eyes, averted glances. All those things have a meaning in terms of how Saima is actually reacting to.
Their mouth they try to keep a neutral look with - but they have been known to give a slight grimace or a slight grin in a reaction to something.
Saima tends to use a lot of subtle nonverbal cues because they don’t really feel like talking all that much. So in the way they shift their posture, the way they use their hands to just to signal a pause of shock- they can be rather expressive.
18. What kind of person could they become in the future? What are some developmental paths that they could take, (best, worst, most likely?) what would cause them to come to pass, and what consequences might they have? What paths would you especially like to see, and why?
Saima is looking to become more of a confident and self-affirming person. Developing in the best route - they could be more comfortable in their own skin and more like to change in a way that makes sense to them. Additionally, best consequences with their people doing better leads to them feeling stronger and more willing to take more of a direct route. Worst - they start to withdraw further and further from those around them. Although they’ll continue to try and be comfortable - fear might keep them from being the person they need to be.
Most likely - They’ll try to face any oncoming crises with grace and calm while trying to reach out for help at more drastic measures. I’d like to see them become more comfortable with themselves because I really need them to be a little more happier with themselves for real.
22. How do people respond to them, and why might these responses differ?
People from their own land tend to feel a natural comfort around them mixed with a bit of wonder since they can tell that something is different and almost ethereal about them. There is a feeling that somehow they came out of the mythos of their land even if there is an inability to describe it.
To other humans, Saima probably comes across as somewhat strange and maybe a little bit difficult to get a hold on. They tend to react to them with a little bit of caution - treating them as something like a human with this kind of instinctive uncanny valley feeling that doesn’t always get expressed.
Obviously, the differences come from whether or not Saima is naturally associated with the people within a given area.
23. How do they respond to difficult social moments? What makes them consider a social situation difficult?
Saima tends to remain quiet and internally withdraw from difficult social moments. They may become a lot more aloof to those around them and respond in brief ways to cut off things shorter. If possible, they tend to actually leave the area of such a social moment because it’s just a lot and they don’t care to be around it.
Usually the feeling of being inadequate around others makes social situation difficult, and they often leave discussions if they feel alienated and just not a part of the audience that it is addressed to - if it’s really binary in nature, it tends to make them just kind of shift in their seat and glance out the nearest window as a distraction.
32. Do they have any “props” that are a significant part of their life, identity, activities, or self-presentation somehow? What are they, how are they used, and why are they so significant? How would these props’ absence impact them, how would they compensate, and why?
Maybe the closest thing would be musical instruments - kannel, piano - or musical choir books. They would be highly attached to them because music is pretty crucial to their identity and making them feel comfortable in their surroundings. These instruments are used for making music which they take a lot of joy and comfort in.
In the absence of them - Saima just hums to them a lot, or listens to a lot of music on their phone. They just feel the need to have music nearby in any situation that it can be afforded.
Otherwise, little accessories might help affirm the way that they’ve been changing to fit a better and more accurate self.
