synopsis: beomgyu takes you on your very first date at your favorite place and with your favorite food. but most importantly with him, your favorite person.

“how do i look?” you asked your best friend standing in front of you.

“you look absolutely beautiful!! his jaw will drop when he looks at you i promise,” young-eun gushed.

you felt flustered, not used to getting compliments. “thank you young-eun.”

“of course! now go, you don’t wanna keep him waiting!!” she exclaimed.

you were in the elevator of your apartment complex, going down levels until you got to the lobby. you could feel your heart pounding rapidly. you were so nervous for this date with beomgyu. it was your first ever date and although your best friend assured you everything would go smoothly and that you looked great, you still had your doubts.

what if beomgyu ends up not liking me after this? what if i mess everything up? what if i actually don’t look great? all of these thoughts ran through your head over and over again.

the elevator dinged and the doors opened. you walked out into the lobby and then into the breeze outside. there beomgyu was in his car, waiting to pick you up. you knocked on the window. beomgyu turns to you automatically and smiles widely, motioning that the door is open.

you open the car door and give him a small smile. “hi gyu!” you say.

he grins a little, loving the nickname you called him. his friends would call him it but it just wasn’t the same. he loved it when you called him gyu.

“hi yn, you look stunning. ready to have the best date of your life?” he smirked.

also my first ever date, you thought, but chose not to speak on it.

“whatever you say gyu,” teasing him.

he rolls his eyes, “that’s what you say now but watch, it really will be.”

he pulls into a parking spot smoothly and you both unbuckle your seat belts. getting out of the car, you admire the view. it was almost sunset.

beomgyu starts unloading the trunk taking out the picnic blanket, bag full of food and drinks, and speaker. you went up to him to help him but he shook his head and told you to get a spot for you two.

since you and gyu became friends, the beach has always your place. the sound of the waves, the nice breeze, and just the calmness it gave you; the beach was your healing spot. and gyu knew that better than anyone else.

it was the most perfect day since there was almost no one there. maybe a couple of people scattered, but you chose a spot where there was no one around. you walked into the sand and closed your eyes. there was just something about the beach that made you feel so at home, or maybe it was the person you related memories of the beach to?

opening your eyes, you called beomgyu, “gyu this is a good spot! you wanna put our stuff down here?”

he walked over to you and nodded. you took the picnic blanket out of his hold and laid it down on the sand. he placed the bag and speaker on top. you sat down on the blanket and opened up the bag. there were warm to-go boxes with pasta from you and gyu’s favorite restaurant, a bag of fresh breadsticks from that same place, two bottles of your favorite bottled milk tea, and two sets of utensils. you felt your chest warm up at the thought of him putting all this work in.

he sat down next to you, scooting over to take the goods out of the bag. while he did that, you connected your phone to the speaker and put your guys’ shared playlist on shuffle. evening glow by wave to earth started playing.

beomgyu had fully unpacked everything and smiled at you sheepishly, “i know it’s not very fancy but i hope you enjoy it. all your favorites for my favorite girl.”

you felt your face get hot. “gyu.. this means a lot to me. we could have a horrible date where everything goes wrong but i’d still love it because i’m with you. just being with you makes me happy.”

now it was his turn to get red. he looked away, now staring down at the pattern of the plaid blanket. “the same goes for you. i love the time we spend together.”

you turn to look at the beautiful view in front of you. the sky was orange with yellow streaks across it, the sun was setting.

“i might be full of flaws, but you will crave my heart.”

beomgyu speaks in a low voice, “yn..”

you turn to him and dear lord does he look beautiful. he’s now facing you, dark full eyes staring into yours and the sky’s orange light shining on his face.

“hm?” you barely manage to get out, so stunned by the sight.

he took your hands in his. “i like you. it’s probably quite obvious by now,” he pauses to chuckle, “but i really really like you. you are incredibly beautiful inside and out and i wanna be here to remind you that every day. i want to spend the rest of my life with you, every sunrise and every sunset. will you let me be yours and you, mine?”

you felt tears welling up in your eyes. you have never felt so loved before.

“wait! no please don’t cry..”

you giggled, “it’s not that.. i just love you so much.”

after you said that beomgyu went frozen.

“beomgyu..? you’re scaring me.”

he snapped out of his little zone. “no! i.. i just wasn’t expecting you to say love, but i love you too. i’ve loved you for so long yn.”

he wiped away your tears, looking at you with adoration. you spoke, “i want us to be each others too. in fact.. i’ve been wanting this for a while now.”

he pulled you into his embrace and you hugged him back. you both sat there holding each other for a long time, in your own world. just happy to be in the others arms, happy to finally be together.

evening glow ended and space kids by the poles started playing. gyu pulled away from the hug and looked at you with his signature toothy smile.

he questioned, “wanna dance?” you nodded in response, getting up together with your hands still intertwined.

“and i couldn’t say when this universe became ours. doesn’t matter, let’s sing and dance until we’re spent!”

you two swayed together in silly motions and laughed. gyu kept his grip on one of your hands and pulled you to the waves. he splashed you with water and stuck his tongue out.

“gyu.. you don’t even know what you’re starting right now!!” you splashed him back and grinned.

you spent the rest of the day devouring the food he brought, pointing out constellations in the night sky, and giggling at stupid little things. you loved beomgyu, and he loved you. all your doubts had been gone and you only saw him, your gyu. you both were truly in your own world together, your universe.

Chaehyun hops on her feet as she walks with you inside the baseball stadium, happy that you took her invitation to a ball game date. Though you are not a fan of any sports and prefer playing video games instead, seeing your girlfriend happy after winning some preseason pass to watch her favorite baseball team gives you a little fluttery feeling in your chest.

"Why is the stadium so empty? Shouldn't it be at least half filled?" You asked after noticing the lack of people to watch the game, far from what you expected when you watch major leagues with her during your home dates.

"Hm? This is normal, YN. People don't usually watch preseason games unless they are a reporter or someone from the league management. Teams that fight before the regular season are just practicing to see their opponent's current strength and test out their own." Chaehyun explained sternly, raising a finger as if she were your mother scolding you for something you did wrong.

Raising your hands in defeat, Chaehyun smiled softly and nudged your chest with her elbow before taking you to one of the thousand empty seats. She personally picked the seat near the dugout and bullpen of her favorite team so she can watch them closely and see who will be on the lineup this season.

After minutes of waiting, the players slowly filled up their benches and start warming up on the sides. Chaehyun stood up and starts calling out her favorite team, cheering the team captain and ace pitcher particularly. The two looked at her and waved their hands, smiling at her and bowed slightly to acknowledge Chaehyun's presence.

You would be lying if you didn't feel a sudden pain in your chest when you saw Chaehyun smiling from ear to ear after she got recognized by her idol players. You haven't seen her that happy much lately, especially when you two are tired from work and didn't have much time to bond with each other. That's why you let her bring you to a ball date to make up for the lost time.

Sensing the sadness by her side, Chaehyun took a glance at you. With face dropping low, hands holding the armrest and eyes staring to the ground, Chaehyun knows that you are being jealous of her favorite players right now. She returned to her seat and leaned towards your stomach, head tilting to face you and block your sight.

"Why are you frowning, YN? You don't wanna watch baseball? We can go home if you feel uncomfortable." Chaehyun asked softly while holding your cheek with her closed fingers, hands forming like a paw and massaging your cheekbones in circular motion.

"It's nothing, Chaehyun. I wish I'm just as cool as those baseball players." You replied, still a bit sullen.

"But you are the coolest person for me, YN. You are always there when I need you. Spoiling all my whining and pampering me. Please don't be sad" Chaehyun smiled and pecked your lips, rubbing her nose to yours right after.

Your lips curved into a smile because of Chaehyun's cuteness and sweet words that tickled your heart. You patted her head and brushed her hair while putting her back in her seat, holding her hand and intertwining your fingers while Chaehyun leaned her head on your shoulder. Everything seems fine and you felt happy again, but it didn't take long because of what happened next.

Chaehyun's happy mood turned sour when the opponent of her favorite team started dominating. The ace pitcher stood on the mount and shut down the batters of the opposing team during the first inning, gaining them a huge lead with 3 points. However, during the 2nd inning, the coach of her favorite team called for a timeout and switched their pitcher with their new member, causing the team to lose its advantage and got dominated.

"The new pitcher is dog shit! Boooo!!" Chaehyun chanted along with some fans you can count on your fingers.

Getting a bit embarrassed by your girlfriend's action, you pulled Chaehyun back to her seat and covered her mouth, hushing her. "Stop it, Chaehyun. The coach must have a reason to switch players. Who knows? Maybe he wants the new pitcher to taste the pressure of a real match so he could expect what to face during the regular season."

"That is still not an excuse, YN. His pitches are too weak and predictable. They don't even hit the center of the catcher's gloves. I thought he was playing for a local high school division." Chaehyun explained angrily, crossing her arms and puffing out some air to blow off some steam.

Having zero knowledge about baseball, you just nodded at Chaehyun's explanation and pulled her towards you, letting her lean on your chest while you hug her arms and lightly pat her shoulder. also it's nice seeing jungwon and yn getting along <3 but tbh i would've loved to see more of the not-quite-friends-but-not-enemies awkward phase. just to laugh at them for a bit lmao

I wasnt kidding about that, originally it wasn't going to be that bad of an injury but then I was like if I'm gonna do it, I might as well make it hella dramatic ya know 😂.

It's not so much pretty privilege but moreso that Jay hadn't really hurt YN all that much. Jungwon in his asshole era hurt her a lot more so it was easier to forgive Jay than Jungwon.

See the plan was for there to be more chapters of them in the awkward not quite friends but not enemies phase but then it just started to seem too similar so I decided to cut that short plus there's angst coming so enjoy that.

Do I have surprises to come. YNs self esteem and family drama come into play in further chapters.

So the idea originally was a spin on the good boy x bad girl trope but it somehow evolved into this 😂. Where YN is an annoying troublemaker but not like a bad girl in general. And Jungwon was supposed to be golden boy that was just perfect instead he's going through another redemption arc 😂. Jay being horrible kinda was inspired by Jaywons bond, like theyre so close and I love them but I decided to flip that in Jay being loyal and letting prejudice come in between being a nice guy. Bahi was just randomly chosen, I think it was more so that I knew Bahi better than I knew Gaeul if that makes sense, like I don't follow Kep1er but I love seeing the Huening siblings tiktoks and I think she's cute 😂.
