Watching "Revenge of the Sith" now and I'm fucking cackling at Palpatine's expression as Anakin and Obi-Wan crash Grievous's ship from space onto Coruscant. Palpatine is sitting in the backseat and looking like he's genuinely afraid for his fucking life here. He looks like he's having a crisis. He looks like he's rethinking all of his evil schemes as they fall from orbit. That looks like a "holy shit, I might actually die here with these two Jedi clowns" expression.
There are so many moments in this sequence where Darth Sidious could have died in a freak accident due to random shrapnel or something. I love that shit. I love complicated tragedies being averted by comedies of errors or just stupid errors. The rise of the Empire could have been thwarted by Palpatine tripping over his robes at the wrong moment because he thought himself too clever for an exploding spaceship.

the way hayden's long legs move through his footwork when he's fighting is honestly a joy to watch again, such deliberate and graceful placement of his feet, synced with the smooth movement of his blade, and the way he pushes the attack but he can make it look like a dance with his partner. it's fascinating to watch his style grow more brutal and aggressive when he shifts into vader, so similar yet different, his whole body acting the part, radiating menace not just his yellow eyes and kubrick stare. the whole physicality of anakin, how lanky and strong he is, how graceful and quick, is what really sold me on the episode tbh that and his fucking voice. they did a fine job with his face, it didn't look much altered, but it was the way hayden played the role, how he stood, walked, fought, just his posture and the mere tilt of his head, all these intangible anakin things that were all perfectly familiar and right. there was a genuine thrill to hearing him deliver new lines with his characteristic mix of softness and intensity, hearing how gentle and inviting he can be in one moment, how snarling and mad in the next, it was all such a treat. like however you interpret the time he spent with ahsoka helping her reflect and gather resolve, i think his scenes do mesh in well with how anakin is portrayed elsewhere, that pretty, gentle, terrifying, angry man. ahsoka saw him, remembered him, imagined him, well, for better and worse, and it was just right.

“the average Jedi is very bad at staying under the radar” factoid is statistically incorrect. Cal Kestis, who introduces himself by name to every person he meets and is incapable of not using his lightsaber for more than 10 minutes, is an outlier and should not be counted.

Oh, hm, I properly realized that Obi-Wan never finds out about the Tusken massacre in the prequel trilogy. Now I'm imagining an immediately post-Ep3 scene on Tatooine, in which Owen or Beru is forced to reference it as it relates to other occupational hazards on Tatooine, and Obi-Wan has to be like, "I beg your fucking pardon???"
And they're reluctantly like, "You know, that time that Anakin, your student, came back to Tatooine after his poor mother had been taken by the Sand People? He singlehandedly killed that big group of them down to the last child, dozens of them, and then took off right afterwards. Big mess. It was about four years ago now. Just before the Clone Wars started. Is that, uh, is that normal for you Jedi people, by the way?" And Obi-Wan has to say, "No. No, it is fucking not."
So the Larses are, at least, incredibly relieved. They didn't want that kind of thing to happen around here again and were a little worried about this Kenobi guy starting that up again. Big mess, don't you know? Everyone in their corner of Tatooine heard about it. People a few towns over heard about it. Anakin and that Padmé woman really never said anything?
Obi-Wan, already reeling from Anakin's recent betrayal and suddenly having to re-evaluate the late Padmé's entire character as well, in the flattest tone of voice that anyone has ever used: "No, I can't say that she ever mentioned it. How odd."
