So the second end of the year post is here and it's best BL OST's. I love me a good OST. And sometimes the BL isn't that great but the OST is. Now let's find out my picks
Can there even be an OST list without Boy Sompob? No not at all. He is the #1 BL ost guy and as it should. This song perfectly fits the BL it was made for La Pluie.
More Boy Sompob? Well he was busy this year OST wise so. This one has to be my favorite of the Boy Sompob OST's this year. It's just so beautiful. It was for Chains Of Heart which was not a good BL unfortunaly. But perfect OST.
Now this song? For I Feel You Linger In The Air? Absolutely fantastic. This is by far the most populair BL OST for this year and no surprise. Cocktail is always great tho so if you haven't checked out the rest of their discography then go do so now!
Daou Pittaya with Would You Mind? for Love In Translation. More then enough times they let actors do the OST while they can't sing but this time? No where near close. Daou is an amazing singer. Top tier! Also the special version he did with one of the Tilly Birds members is really beautiful. Check it out as well.
The OST for The Sign and what a banger! Perfectly fits this action packed BL.
Last one on the list and it's the OST from Only Friends by Khaotung Thanawat. Another good BL singer. I love the piano part at around 1:52.

2023 Recap - Songs from (QL) Dramas
I've been tagged by @troubled-mind to make a list of my favorites songs from this year's QL dramas (thank you so much 💕) and of course I can't resist. I liked a lot of music from shows this year, which is great but made the selection harder so it will be a little long, I hope you'll forgive me.
OST I've been milking in full
I don't very often go through full OST unless someone does a background music playlist i can put on (Like this one for La Pluie by troubled-mind, and this one for To Sir, With Love for example) but two stood out for me this year.
My School President OST - I knew in advance I would enjoy a musical show, and I have to say I was NOT disappointed. My favorite though is ฟัง by Fourth, Ford, Satang, Winny, and the fantastic Pijika Jittaputta. Have a go at the original too!
Unintentional Love Story OST - This one came late this year for me, but i have been listening to the whole thing again and again. My favorite is Beautiful Day by Cha Seowon. I really enjoy his voice a LOT, and I'm weak for a nice, so soft it's even a little mushy love ballad.
With those two out of the way, let's go through the list country by country I think.
From Thailand 🇹🇭
ลางสังหรณ์ by Teng Tachaya from The Sign
This one is just a banger! It literally rocks, and I keep belting out the chorus every single time i listen to it. I love everything about it, even the spoken words. Also, not music related, but that costume!!
เงา by Lazyloxy from Shadow
I like Lazyloxy's voice a lot, as well as the rhythm/bass line (?) during the verses. There is an edge in that song that fits the show very well, too.
พรุ่งนี้ by Ford Arun from Moonlight Chicken
Ford's voice, do I need to say more? Tbh I got a little teary the first (ten) time(s) I listen to it.This ballad is so very touching, it's gentle and hopeful, I can never tire of it.
Honorable mentions >
รักคุณยิ่งกว่าใคร by NuNew's cover of Got Jakraphan from Cutie Pie 2. I loved this one so much I got myself a video editor so I could post it there. Only honorable because it's a cover, but it got me into luk thung so it deserves to be here.
เพลง รักนี้มากับดวง by Bmine & Near from Lucky My Love. This one is just because it's goddamn cute, sweet and peppy, and it makes me smile and bop my head. Sometimes I don't ask for more.
From Japan 🇯🇵
U&I by Hi-Fi Unicorn from Kimi ni wa todokanai
It's just a perfectly crafted pop song imo. It's cute, fresh and lively, fitting the show perfectly too. Since it came out, you can catch me humming "kimi ni waaa todokanai hmm hmm hmm" all day, every day, so it deserves its place on the list!
Yoruwazura by osage feat Ishino Riko from Kimi to nara koi wo shite mite mo
This one got me the second Ishino Riko started singing. The harmonies between the two are SO good! I really like the guitar in this one, and the little claps in the background. It's also really easy to hum so it stays with me a lot.
Bitter by Royce from Utsukushii Kare season 2
The contrast between the energy of the melody and the nearly bored sound of the voice (the singer sounds like their mouth does not open fully) works reaaally well for me. It's catchy and fun, and well, the lyrics are just so perfectly Hira...
ふたたび Futatabi by HIROBA & Otsuka Ai from Bokura no micro na shuumatsu
I was very surprised when I saw it was a feat with Otsuka Ai (who I only knew for her sugary pop in early 2000). The melancholy of the lyrics and the melody are beautiful, I am a huge fan of the way their voices mesh together, and I can't resist a piano + violins combo like that.
Honorable mention > Go Sign by Billy Laurent from Ameiro Paradox. The little piano, the rhythm, that chorus, it makes me shake my ass every single time.
From Taiwan 🇹🇼
'痛苦擁抱 (Painful Hug) by Ozone from Oh No! Here Comes Trouble
(I won't hear anything about technicality and it being a QL show or not =3) Had not realized it was from a boy group before checking the clip for this list. I like the way the melody rises for the chorus, their voices are pleasant, and it carries both power and some sort of melancholy that reminds me very much of Pu Yiyong.
Honorable mention > Come With Me by K6 from Marry My Dead Body. The whole OST of that movie is great, but I somehow got completely obsessed by this one from the gym scene at the start. It also features Austin Lin (I think as backup on the chorus).
From Korea 🇰🇷
IoU by UTOPI from The New Employee
It's a sweet, simple one that never fails to put me in a good mood, and sometimes that's enough to listen to a song non stop over months =3
Natural by Young K from A Breeze of Love
This one is also sunny, light and joyful. I like the guitars and I am especially fond of Young K's voice - it got me looking into him which I do not regret. A nice little surprise for the end of the year.
Thank you if you made it all the way through it, otherwise...
Tl;dr you can find all songs under this playlist (´꒳`)♡
i'm not sure who would have fun doing this, maybe @iguessitsjustme if you fancy it? Anyone who see this and want to do it, please tag me so I can have a look at your faves! <3
#f i n a l l y managed to go through this one!#after rearranging it three times#but yes here are this year's favorites <3#music#(Kat you're stronger than me I would never have managed to keep it to 10 lol)

Most rewatched show of the year (regardless of air date):
The Sign
Series you’re most excited for in 2025: I don't generally get hyped about shows so take this with a grain of salt.
Lover Merman if it ever comes
Ok, I'm hijacking this a bit to do my yearly wrap-up of thoughts of the year. I've done one for each year that I've come back into Bl 2022 and 2023
My first thought of 2024 was disappointing, but when I started looking back and looking at what came out this year, it was a really good year. The 1st part of this year sucked for me and JBLs. Every title just didn't seem to hit right. They weren't bad but by the end I was disappointed. It is the first for me since JBLs are my go-to BL. It left an impression on me even though the 2nd half of the year delivered some of my top ten favs of the year.
There were lots of cross-over titles this year bridging 2023 to 2024 that were actually really good. The Sign, Pit Babe, Last Twilight, Cherry Magic, and 7 Days Before Valentine were all some of my favs. 2024 started out with a bang with BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita being a short but really fun show airing over the start of the new year. Ossan Love took me by surprise with the first season of the series that I enjoyed it completely.
Spring seemed to be a dry spell after the huge dump we had gotten over the holiday season. City of Stars was a big surprise from Star Hunter that turned BL tropes on their head while being sweet and charming. Deep Night and My Stand in filled in the gaps for me in the spring with two good strong titles. Deep Night did the host club right while Time did it completely wrong.
Summer was a feast for me. Century of Love and Meet You at the Bloosom both air almost together and I adored them. Grumpy gruff tops and silly cute bottoms are my thing 🤣. Mr. Mitsuya, Takara's Treasure and Sugar Dog finally came out and renewed my love of JBL much to my relief.
Fall brought me the biggest surprise of all in Love Sick. It wasn't even on my radar since I hadn't watched the original. That bald shaved head look is a real turn-off 🤣 Surprisingly I loved both the old and new version and kicked myself for not watching it sooner. Every You, Every Me was also something I wasn't that into except they still kept catching my eye and I found myself wowed by the visuals and acting. Addicted Heroin I often defended to the age police and OG book crowd but was ambivalent to for the most part. In the the show for me was an enjoyable watch as well. Monster Next Door also came out which topped my BL list this year. Green flags are waving proudly this years.
In terms of overall countries. Japan and Taiwan my mainstays have just had an ok year this year. Normally these countries are consistently 8 to 10-star shows but I had several dips into the mediocre 7-star range. Thailand remained the same with a mix of OMG I LOVE to What were they thinking?! Korea this year was depressing. There were some bright spots like Please Teach Me, Jazz for Two, and Love for Love Sake but I'm over the dark mood stuff they have been pumping out lately.
For production companies Kongthup was amazing this year especially with the team up with Wetv. Knock, Knock Boys, Two Worlds, and Monster Next Door brought some unique and wonderful series. Wetv has upped their game this year. Along with having Kongthup work on their series, they have also given up Caged Again which I adore with my whole heart and they have announced a whole raft of titles for 2025 including snatching a BOC title. Also 👍for adding a Boy's Love section something IQIYI hasn't fully done yet. I also love they SHARE with Gaga giving us a choice of platforms.
Gaga on the other hand need to to stick to licencing content instead of making it. Playboyy was like a trainwreck I couldn't look away from. At 25:00, in Akasaka had pacing and story issues and First Note of Love was a slow burn that never lite. I adore gaga for giving us so many LGBTQ niche titles all in one place for a great price but they fail on content creation.
This year also brought a SURGE of app based dramas. I now have 16 apps on my phone and have been ponder whether to just get a phone for all these silly apps. I will admit I HATE vertical dramas but some have come out and shocked me with how go they really are. I also found a love for Cambodia BL through Sastra that has a cheap membership and some fun shows.
Still I hope the trend of app based content dies the death it deserves. When you start breaking down how much these cheaply made shows actually cost whether it is in time or money it is a terrible thing to come to BL. I also will never forgive them for chopping up movies into 50+ pieces interpreting the flow of the show and making them worse just to make huge amounts of money off them.
As for merch, I have cut down a little but not by much. 9 Thai boxsets, 13 Japanese movies, 6 Japanese series, and an assortment of BL merch from Taiwan, Thailand, and Japan. I now need to add another section to my bookcase 😔 My fav item is the ramune bottle from Takara's Treasure and Word of Honor posters. My fav boxset is the Minato Coin Laudary season 1 & 2 for the dance extras.
Finally for my resolutions from last year. I did manage to watch the mainstay Chinese Dramas. Word of Honor and Untamed are now off my to-do list. I just can't with bromance. Untamed left me skeptical of Chinese censored dramas. I had my issues with word of honor but I did like it but I've been told it is an outlier. I did watch less mainly because I now am strapped for time. The website eats hours away like candy and my 12-day work weeks have cut deeply into my free time. So I have been forced to be choosy in the series I watch. Manga has been out this year I lack the time. As for branching out into various countries, I have only managed Cambodia mainly because of my Sastra membership.
No resolutions for this year. I'm fairly stressed finding all the time to do what I want to do so no pressure or goals. Just keep on keeping on with BL watching and organizing as I can 😍

i was thinking about thanuphai while hearing music on youtube and came across this song by keng tachaya and it completely fits their situation from phai’s perspective :( phai’s such a sweetheart and he’s so selfless, i love him. also, do you think markkit will end up fighting bc of the thanuwayuphai situation?? like kit would obviously side with his brother and mark with his bff??
https://youtu.be/H24YOzccUwg
ughh anon your mind. I love that song!!! and the lyrics fit them so well 🥺🥺🥺
I’m so soft for them... Phai is so cute, I hope Thanu won’t screw him over. Their story is so precious so far 😩
I can see markkit getting into a feisty situation because of thanu though.... he’s kind of caught in the middle between wayu and phai so if the situation gets more heated between them, it’s possible that mark and kit will eventually start picking sides like you said. Which WILL end in chaos for sure lmao. But we’ll see.....
xxx
#gen y#thanuphai#them and padsaeb are the superior couples on this show i do not take criticism#besides markkit ofc#Anonymous#ask#doreen answers

You in songs 🎵 A song that you would listen to as you sleep. A song you would love to play. A song from your childhood that you still love so much. A song that describes you the best. A song that makes you happy. A cover that you loved way more than the original. 🎶
alfjaldj I LOVE THIS OK. Music is such a big thing for me and yes. anyway ok. here we go. you’re about to get a glimpse into the full range of my musical interests.
1. A song that you would listen to as you sleep
“Bring on the Rain” by JoDee Messina and Tim McGraw - there’s just something incredibly soothing and uplifting about it
2. A song that you would love to play
“Crystal” by Stevie Nicks - this has always been one of my absolute favorite songs, and it’s always made me wish i could sing/play an instrument
3. A song from your childhood that you still love so much
“Slow an’ Easy” by Whitesnake - honestly, there’s so many this was so difficult. but my parents are metal heads so this is a song that i grew up listening to, and one of my earliest memories is in the car, singing/clapping along with this song and just jamming out while having 0 idea what the song is about while my parents were losing it in the front seats
4. A song that describes you best
“Perfect” by Pink [ Self Harm TW for the video ] - there’s lots of reasons. but instead of going into it i’ll just say that this song makes me sob every time i hear it
5. A song that makes you happy
“โซซัดโซเซ“ by Tachaya Prathumwan (Keng) - this was a really hard choice, but this song alwayssssss makes me happy every time i hear it.
6. A cover you loved way more than the original
I’m going to cheat and do two because I really cannot choose.
“Save Tonight” by E.M.D - as much as i looooooove the original, there’s just something about this. it just seems to fit the heartbreaking lyrics far more than the original sound (which i still love but yea)
“Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing” by Caleb Hyles ft Jonathan Young - look, i can’t even explain why i love this one so much. but i do. it’s just great. and it goes so much harder than the original version, imo.

Oh my god. I came across the original video years ago by pure coincidence when I was interested in the Ramakien and thai culture. I’ve been listening to it ever since despite having no idea what it means, because of how positive it sounds. It’s so nice to finally be able to understand what it says.
The male singer, Keng Tachaya, is such an interesting fellow. He seems to have embraced the persona of the green giant from the Bangkok Temple (at least back when I came across this video). Talking purely from the passing perspective of a non-thai speaker, his work seems fully intent on promoting thai culture among the youth, but in a friendly, non-manipulative way, wich is something I think a lot of people need to learn. Quite often I see institutions in countries like mine trying to make the youth feel guilty about not acting this way or that way about their local culture and history, to shame them into submission rather than trying to understand why they are dissapointed and unenthusiastic, and that’s just no good. Obviously I cannot speak for thai people and how this video represents their culture, but I gotta say I find inspiration in all this.
Here is a site showcasing several of Tachaya’s songs with translated lyrics, for anyone interested.
My first submission for the @hindumythologyevent !
Here's a modern Ramayana AU that got its makers in some trouble...
youtube
A cute song with Ravana and his minions having fun and encouraging people to travel domestically, what's not to like?
The Thai Ministry of Culture, however, was NOT amused. The Ramayana isn't taken QUITE as seriously as in India, but as a national symbol closely connected to the royal court, there are certain things you can't play with. A modern AU where Ravana, king of Lanka goes on a horsie ride on the beach and makes crispy snacks in the floating market... Nope.
And, to be fair, it's not just politics and propriety -- the Ramayana dance-drama in Thailand is both entertainment and ritual, at least for performers. The masks are objects of worship, and have all sorts of taboos connected to their use and storage. Obviously, not everyone thinks the same way about the art form, but the most conservative, court-oriented group is the one in power. The producers had to cut and replace certain parts of the video. This is the original.
(Just wait until the cultural "dinosaurs" find out about the IndrajitxHanuman slashfic I found on a blog some years back... Kidding! It's the materiality -- ie the mask -- and the publicity that's the problem.)
