Sharon Lazibyrd

Sharon Lazibyrd is an award winning singer-songwriter who writes striking and melodic songs and makes music that matters. Her songs are influenced by musicals, music hall and everything from Julian Cope to English folk. Her debut solo album Half Shame and Half Glory was critically acclaimed. During lockdown she started to record her own songs at home for the first time. ‘Scrolling Back’ is a personal and powerful song about the end of a relationship. “This song is a reflection of how I was feeling at the time that I wrote it and captures the sense of loss and of memories” said Sharon. It should resonate with anyone who has recently been through this situation. It was written during lockdown and recorded at home by Sharon and Jonni Slater.  “Lockdown was a period of creativity and collaboration for me and songwriting helped me get through this time of personal change.” said Sharon. ‘Scrolling Back’ features Sharon on vocals, violin and viola with Jonni Slater on piano who also mixed and co-produced the track. Kelli Frances Corrado

Kelli Frances Corrado is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, a quilt of memories and mysticism. Growing up in Chicago, she would sneak out during school nights to see hip hop shows and spend Sundays learning prayer rituals taught by a Bohemian Czech grandmother. This set a unique musical foundation. Leading her to pursue opera training, string arranger, beat making and classical poetry. Giving voice to her spiritual beliefs. She has lived many lives before putting her heart in song: social worker, student, tap dancer, teacher, wanderer. Living in the Black Forest, London and by the sea. These patches of experience bring together a musical broth of magical realism and urban life ripe of lucid dreams and superstition. Her new album is called Tuff Feathers. We’re sharing LP track ‘What Direction is Heaven on Earth?’. “‘What Direction is Heaven on Earth?' was written in response to the fires of the West Coast of the United States,” says Kelli. “When the sky was orange for weeks and it was hard to breathe. I wrote this song to call in a spiritual tempest to help heal the earth. It features Lori Goldston on cello and was engineered by Jeffery Mcnulty at the Killroom in Seattle, WA." Listen below.

Kitty Junk

Kitty Junk is a rock duo from Seattle and they have partnered with the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence to promote safe and healthy relationships, especially within the POC and LGBT communities, which often go underrepresented in terms of mental and emotional well-being. They sell RAGE bracelets (one of their song titles) at each show and pass out resources for women and those affected by domestic violence. "’Rage’ is our anthem song in support of survivors. We have been hanging out after shows to hear women's stories as they line up and it has been incredibly powerful and eye-opening in the Seattle rock scene. We've just launched our own record label, to start recording underrepresented musicians at Earwig Studio and we launched the all female led audio engineering program at North Seattle College,” say the duo. Based in Manchester, 21 year old R&B artist Rosita releases new single ‘FEEL A WAY’ today. Expressing the story of vulnerability and self love, Rosita composes an admirable narrative that is both empowering and beautifully personal. Callaz is the artistic moniker of Maria Soromenho. A beguiling and imaginative fusion of experimental electronic pop and indie rock featuring Callaz's unique aesthetic sense, informed by her preference for work guided by the DIY philosophy. The songs, at times vulnerable and playful, feature incisive refrains heard in the dancing darkness that her listeners have grown accustomed to.  “'Living in a Garage' is mostly inspired by a strong feeling of discomfort and by one feeling ungrounded in their own house,” says Maria. “I used samples I recorded on my phone while walking the streets of Lisbon and explored my vocals. I moved to Berlin this Summer and this track was recorded and produced by Ah! Kosmos.” Listen below.

Book of Echoes is a musical story book of 7 songs about 7 archangels and 7 personal healing lessons. Each song is written (according to the lore) in the key of the archangel. The songs are chapters to a two year time span which tells the story of 7 healing lessons on learning on how to be strong in moments of vulnerability when the journey is not clear. Two additional tracks are spoken word pieces to further explore the influence and connectedness of the ancient mythologies and the personal experience.

Hello friends old and new!

Happy new year!!! We write from the turning point of the Visiting Families tour, here in the first days of 2017, on a 10-hour layover back in NYC after shows in the Pacific Northwest and prior to a string of shows in Israel. One family visited, one family to go.

Had an amazing time at Hollow Earth Radio in Seattle, WA with Kelli Frances Corrado and The Shakedown in Bellingham, WA with Deadly D, 2Troublesome and the crew, and in Portland, OR with Gooo of the Show and Smell Recordings family. ...They also have #goofcamo.

New York family — if we were in town we would be at Bizarre Bushwick on January 11 for Where the Wild Things Are #21. But we aren’t, so we won’t. But if you are, then you should! Much love to the Brooklyn Wildlife crew, who cavort in our hearts as we globe-trot far and wide.

Amidst all this adventuring we have written and recorded a new song about TREES — like in the literal sense — and are shooting footage for the video wherever we go. Got the Evergreens covered in Washington. Send us your favorite tree and we’ll try to get footage of it shaking its sexy foliage in the video.

Nothing quite so soul-affirming as hurling oneself back and forth across the planet earth and spittin’ rhymes in the company of old friends and new ones. Cold weather, warm hearts. Here’s hoping your new year has been a bundle of joy in its recent birth.
