Yokaitober, Days 5-8

I know its the 16th and over halfway through the month, but I promise I have been (mostly) keeping up with Yokaitober. My issue is that building habits is hard, and I am definitely out of habit on posting to tumblr.

In the second series of yokai for the month, I covered a pretty wide variety of creatures, including the jubokko, a bloodthirsty tree that was actually created in the 20th century; Keizobo, one of five famous kitsune from Inaba; the yogen no tori, a helpful, pandemic-predicting raven that was "seen" only one time; and the hinoshu, a rock-like yokai the size of a germ who lives in people's spleens.

And within those three days, he says his goodbyes. To his friends, Satoshi and Cho. In his Daichi attire, he goes to visit Giichi who is upset but surprised to hear that he's leaving for Tokyo for a school that accepts him.

"It's about time, you damn brat!" Giichii said. Daichi laughs, "Yeah! I know! We had lots of adventures together."

Giichii huffs but doesn't say anything. He got a gift and a calling card from Daichi. The detective didn't say anything but gave a faint smile.

Then he says goodbye to the yokai. Gokuto, Kyo-hime, Reiki, Keizobo, and a few others. Then he visits Master Kanne, "Master Kanne? Are you there?"

With both Hiraki and Aiko flying back to their masters, they hope both Eito and Kisho grows stronger when starting at the school. However, they wonder what new adventures they will share together but it will tell in time. For now, the two focused on returning back.

Caster class: Shoroshoro gitusne ( or just Shoro )

Her name comes from the Japanese onomatopoeia of the sound of a waterfall, Shoroshoro gitsune is one of the Inaba Five Kitsune of Tottori Prefecture. She was known for transforming into a beautiful woman and bewitching travelers. Overall, there is nothing truly standout-ish about her. Especially when compared to some of the other Inaba give such as Keizobo and Otonjoro. She really is just your run-of-the-mill trickster kitsune.

Perhaps it’s the general lack of notoriety that pushes Shoroshoro along.

Shoro has very mixed feelings about other kitsune. On one hand, she can’t help but be rather jealous of their notoriety. Kitsune whose stories have in some way shaped the world of culture. On the other, she can’t help but look up to these same kitsune for the same reasons she is jealous of them.

Another kitsune oc. I recently decided to challenge myself by making a couple ocs off yokai with very little info on them and those ocs are Shoro and another tanuki that I am not 100 percent ready to post yet

The smaller yokai got to the shrine safely. They easily hide inside the temple. The cursed spirit tries to break through but the charms that were hung on the tori gate burn them. The curses hissed as they got back. Then they were quickly slain by Keizobo right away.

"All for account for!" Keizobo seeing the smaller yokai is now safe. Meanwhile, Daichi and Gotoku dispatched against the curses while Tesso's rats led the smaller yokai to another shrine. They are also safe.

Master Kenna stands in the way of a cursed spirit that is stronger. The curse is a boar-looking monster as it growls. Kenna taps his staff against the ground and lets out a chant. The chant forces the curse back against the wall before Kenna lifts his hand, carrying a small mallet and a golden dong bell. Kenna hits the bell with the mallet twice, breaking the curse down. It was exorcised.

"Master!" Daichi exclaimed as he and Gotoku came forward. They were finished with their area. Kenna looks towards the two, "So I have."

As the three kept running, they saw a few more helping. Ones named Kiyo-hime and another named Reiki. Nobara was shocked seeing them but she did love the clothes they were wearing. Not bad. Megumi and Yuji keeps going but looks to see one pointing to the shrine.

Nobara gets there but lets the little ones hurry on inside scared. The two boys made sure they got in quickly but hearing more cursed screeching and roaring out.

A pack of four-legged curses are now hunting them but before any of them reach the sorcerers and the smaller yokai. One of them got stomped by a big blue yokai. Keizobo laughed, "Glad you join the party, Reiki and Kiyo!"

"It's Kiyo-hime to you!" Said the snake woman Yokai haughty before she let out a breath of cursed energy towards the other three curses, making them wheeze and cough in the gas giving the Reiki to pulverize them to nothing.

"Over there!" Keizobo points at the shrine. "All of the yokai enter!" The smaller yokai enters the Shinto temple shrine.

Nobara kept near them but she would protect these little yokai with her life. she sees Yuji staying in the front to keep her safe while Megumi stays in the back while hurrying along. They saw and heard more roaring from other curses showing up. Seeing so many delicious spirits to eat. However, a few hisses at Daichi and Gotuko ready to eat them alive with some curse spirits burning.

The small yokai follows Nobara and her team safely with Keizobo leading the way. The sound of screeching and roaring is heard. But there is a presence of energy being felt. That familiar energy is no other...

Daichi blasted a curse with his fireball. Eito is chirping as Daichi goes to exorcise the curses coming their way. Gotuko is with him as the yokai cat breathes a huge fireball, blasting the curse into smithereens.

"Don't you dare underestimate you damn curses!" Gotuko roared.

"R..right!" Yuji and Megumi goes to quickly help as Nobara sees the little ones following them. "Come on you little ones. Just follow us. We'll get you to safety." she said. Everyone was still going while seeing this. However, they were hearing more screeching and roaring from other curses.

"You're quite welcome!" Keizobo nods, "Also take the small yokai to the shrines and temples, they will be protected by charms and other strong yokai." He advises the three sorcerers. "Right now, us yokai are fighting across the town!" He said he was rolling across the street with his skates.

The yokai were glad to see their fellow yokai who are strong.

As Yuji and Megumi looks ready to take it down, they saw the curse cut down in two. The boys blinks then turn seeing a human-sized fox wearing armor. It was a yokai with a fox head and human body.

"Wow.." Megumi said.

"Thanks for helping us!" Yuji said smiling but the two was ready to fight with Keizobo. Megumi stood up but was holding her hammer to keep the kitsune safe with her.

Then right away, a curse was cut down in two. A human-sized, fox wearing armor but this yokai has a fox head and a human body. He carried a sword.

"Hope I am not too late." Said the fox as he skidded to a halt. Not to mention, he is wearing skates. "Heard that you three helping us. My name is Keizobo! Your friendly neighborhood yokai postman!"He grins at the three.

She sees both Megumi and Yuji take down another curse but they were landing before one punches him away. "Megumi!" Yuji sees him crash against the ground while seeing Megumi was holding a yokai to keep them safe but moves seeing another tries to attack.

"We need to get the little one away from here." Yuji said seeing it roars out at him but he attacks the curse.

"Daichi..." Keizobo begins, "If you're doing this for us, then count me in!"

"Ha?!" Most of the yokai look at Keizobo's way. Daichi and Tesso were surprised. The fox yokai explains, "I mean! I am the fastest and I want to show those sorcerers what I'm made of. You and Tesso can't take on all the work, ya know!" Keizobo grins.

"If you're doing this to help everyone, I wanna help out too. I'm doing for this for my family. I want no cursed spirit around them!" Said Reiki. The Kawa twins stand up, "Us too."

Gotuko blinks before groans, "I help too! After all, I teach you how to control your fire! So I'm going to show whose your other teacher besides Master Kanne!" He said. The minor yokai goes to show their support as well. Everyone looks at Kiyo-hime to which sighs.

"Alright, I'm in! But you promise me some sake, ya got that?!" Kiyo hime tells them. Daichi widen his eyes this. He tries not to cry. "Don't worry! I will! Thanks everyone!"

The others said nothing else at that moment but they hope Daichi knew what he was doing. With the scary curses lingering about, it was hard to say what would happen next. Even with some looming around in waiting afraid of what these curses could do.

"I have an idea, Master!" Daichi said, coming back. After Master Kanne gathered the remaining yokai. The yokai were now upset. Kiyo-hime, a yokai that is a half woman whose upper half is human and lower part is a snake body.

"Daichi! You can't expect us to work with jujutsu sorcerers!" Kiyo-hime hissed. Then another yokai, Gotoku, a medium-sized tabby cat with flaming two tails wants to know what's going on. "Yeah! You can't trust them!"

Then there's Reiki, a big blue oni yokai with a dragon's face wearing overalls, "They're horrible!!!"

Then the Kawa twins, a pair of fraternal twins who are river people with dark scales and hair on top. They both have pointed ears. They also look concerned. Then there's Keizobo, a kitsune hybrid, who works as a postman. He looks concerned as well. There were minor yokai who kept quiet and they were looking scared.

Daichi had his hands up, "Guys! I know how you feel! But they told me 50 cursed spirits are lingering around."

"How do you know that they're not referring to us?!" Kiyo-hime asked with her arms crossed. Tesso argues, "They fought me and spared me!"

"Yeah, to get to Daichi!" Gotoku growled. "What the hell is wrong with you, Tesso?!"

"Alright so we need to think of some idea to lure them to the hit point. But how?" Yuji asked.

"We just need to think of something during the time. We have till tomorrow to think of something." Megumi said already back with them as well. Knowing the curses around here it was going to be a mess.

"Even so, we have to do something. I really don't want to know what the cursed spirits will do when finding this out." Nobara sighed to think.
