Writing Notes: Hierarchy of Needs
Abraham Maslow’s (1943) hierarchy of human needs has profoundly influenced the behavioral sciences, becoming a seminal concept in understanding human motivation.
The original pyramid comprises 5 levels:
Physiological needs: Basic requirements for survival, such as food, water, shelter, and sleep
Safety needs: Security of body, employment, resources, morality, the family, health, and property
Love and belonging needs: Friendship, family, intimacy, and a sense of connection
Esteem needs: Respect, self-esteem, status, recognition, strength, and freedom
Self-Actualization: The desire to become the best that one can be
Maslow posited that our motivations arise from inherent and universal human traits, a perspective that predated and anticipated evolutionary theories in biology and psychology (Crawford & Krebs, 2008; Dunbar & Barrett, 2007).
Maslow developed his theory during the Second World War, a time of global upheaval and change, when the world was grappling with immense loss, trauma, and transformation. This context influenced Maslow’s emphasis on the individual’s potential for growth, peace, and fulfillment beyond mere survival.
It is noteworthy that Maslow did not actually create the iconic pyramid that is frequently associated with his hierarchy of needs. Researchers believe it was popularized instead by psychologist Charles McDermid, who was inspired by step-shaped model designed by management theorist Keith Davis (Kaufman, 2019).
Over the years, Maslow (1970) made revisions to his initial theory, mentioning that 3 more levels could be added:
cognitive needs,
aesthetic needs, and
transcendence needs (e.g., mystical, aesthetic, sexual experiences, etc.).
Criticisms of the Hierarchy of Needs
Criticism of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs has been a subject of ongoing discussion, with several key limitations identified by scholars and practitioners alike. Understanding these critiques and integrating responses to them is vital for therapists aiming to apply the hierarchy in a modernized way in their practice.
Needs are Dynamic
Critics argue that the original hierarchy does not offer an accurate depiction of human motivation as dynamic and continuously influenced by the interplay between our inner drives and the external world (Freund & Lous, 2012).
While Maslow’s early work suggested that one must fulfill lower levels in order to reach ultimate self-actualization, we now know human needs are not always clearly linear nor hierarchical.
People might experience and pursue multiple needs simultaneously or in a different order than the hierarchy suggests. After all, personal motives and environmental factors constantly interact, shaping how individuals respond to their surroundings based on their past experiences.
Cultural Bias
One of the primary criticisms is the cultural bias inherent in Maslow’s original model. While many human needs can be shared among cultures, different cultures may prioritize certain needs or goals over others (Tay & Diener, 2011).
It’s often argued that Maslow’s emphasis on self-actualization reflects a distinctly Western, individualistic perspective, which may not resonate with or accurately represent the motivational structures in more collectivist societies where community and social connectedness are prioritized.
Empirical Grounding
The hierarchy has also faced scrutiny for its lack of empirical grounding, with some suggesting that there isn’t sufficient research to support the strict ordering of needs (Kenrick et al., 2010).
In practice, this limitation can be addressed by viewing the hierarchy as a descriptive framework rather than a prescriptive one.

❏ STREAMING MEDIA ❏
Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-userwhile being delivered by a provider. The verb to stream refers to the process of delivering orobtaining media in this manner.[clarification needed] Streaming refers to the deliverymethod of the medium, rather than the medium itself. Distinguishing delivery method fromthe media distributed applies specifically to telecommunications networks, as most of thedelivery systems are either inherently streaming (e.g. radio, television, streaming apps) orinherently non-streaming (e.g. books, video cassettes, audio CDs). There are challengeswith streaming content on the Internet. For example, users whose Internet connectionlacks sufficient bandwidth may experience stops, lags, or slow buffering of the content. Andusers lacking compatible hardware or software systems may be unable to stream certaincontent. Live streaming is the delivery of Internet content in real-time much as livetelevision broadcasts content over
the airwaves via a television signal. Live internet streaming requires a form of source media(e.g. a video camera, an audio interface, screen capture software), an encoder to digitize thecontent, a media publisher, and a content delivery network to distribute and deliver thecontent. Live streaming does not need to be recorded at the origination point, although itfrequently is. Streaming is an alternative to file downloading, a process in which the end-user obtains the entire file for the content before watching or listening to it. Throughstreaming, an end-user can use their media player to start playing digital video or digitalaudio content before the entire file has been transmitted. The term “streaming media” canapply to media other than video and audio, such as live closed captioning, ticker tape, andreal-time text, which are all considered “streaming text”.
❏ COPYRIGHT CONTENT ❏
Copyright is a type of intellectual property that gives its owner the exclusive right to make copies of a creative work, usually for a limited time. The creative work may be in a literary, artistic, educational, or musical form. Copyright is intended to protect the original expression of an idea in the form of a creative work, but not the idea itself. A copyright is subject to limitations based on public interest considerations, such as the fair use doctrine in the United States. Some jurisdictions require “fixing” copyrighted works in a tangible form. It is often shared among multiple authors, each of whom holds a set of rights to use or license the work, and who are commonly referred to as rights holders.[citation needed] These rights krequently include reproduction, control over derivative works, distribution, public performance, and moral rights such as attribution.
Copyrights can be granted by public law and are in that case considered “territorial rights”. This means that copyrights granted by the law of a certain state, do not extend beyond the territory of that specific jurisdiction. Copyrights of this type vary by country; many countries, and sometimes a large group of countries, have made agreements with other countries on procedures applicable when works “cross” national borders or national rights are inconsistent. Typically, the public law duration of a copyright expires 50 to 100 years after the creator dies, depending on the jurisdiction. Some countries require certain copyright formalities to establishing copyright, others recognize copyright in any completed work, without a formal registration. It is widely believed that copyrights are a must to foster cultural diversity and creativity. However, Parc argues that ry to prevailing beliefs, imitation and copying do not restrict cultural creativity or diversity but in fact support them further. This argument has been supported by many examples such as Millet and Van Gogh, Picasso, Manet, and Monet, etc.

G.S. Schray — The Changing Account (Last Resort)
The Changing Account by G.S. Schray
The Changing Account is G.S. Schray’s third album on the Last Resort label. In simple terms, this is more of the same delicious concoction of woozy jazz, post-rock and ambient flavors he perfected on his last album, First Appearance, which made #2 on my list of favorite albums of 2019. (Schray is also a member of Lemon Quartet, who put out the excellent Crestless early last year, before the whole world ground to halt.) When you have a sound that’s as beautiful as Schray’s, it pays to stick to your guns. On this release there are occasional contributions from his Lemon Quartet bandmates Stephen Clements (piano), Corey Farrow (synth) and Keith Freund (piano, bass clarinet), but for the most part it’s Schray alone, weaving his inimitable way through these gloriously languid compositions.
As with Schray’s last two solo releases, The Changing Account comprises eight tracks totalling just over 30 minutes of music, neatly split into two batches of four songs per side. The song titles — such as “In Select Everlight,” “Sated By The Plum” and “Two Pals Glowing” — are a story unto themselves, immediately conjuring a whimsical imaginary world. Schray’s quicksilver electric guitar playing continues to be a thing of wonder, accompanied by a varied instrumental palette including drums, bass, synth and horns, all blending beautifully in the mix.
On the gorgeous scene-setting opener, “In Select Everlight,” Schray’s distinctive chord voicings suspend the listener aloft on waves of clean, shimmering, single-coil guitar tone. The track feels like it might melt into the aether, only for insistent tom-tom and bass drum to snap the scene into focus. The song really blooms in its final stretch, with golden swells of brass, before dissolving in a spiral of ride cymbals and heavily effected voices and synth. “Two Clouds Each” comes across like Tortoise lazily jamming on a Sunday afternoon, driven by shuffling ghost notes on the snare, double bass, and bright horn refrains. “Sated By The Plum” blends bass clarinet with Schray’s EWI (electronic wind instrument), thick synth beds deep enough to doze in, and twanging guitar leads. The longest piece, “Still, Puzzled,” is a wonderfully meditative, beatless exploration for guitar, double bass, organ and trumpet. “Eye On The Menace” rounds things off neatly with a short, tightly arranged composition built around piano and double bass.
When an artist has such a distinctive and well-developed style, it’s often first exposure to their music that has the strongest impact. As a result, The Changing Account hasn’t made as much of an impression as First Appearance, though it’s similarly wonderful. If you’ve yet to step into G.S. Schray’s fantastical world, this is as good a starting point as any.

TELEVISION SHOW AND HISTORY A television show (often simply TV show) is any content produced for broadcast via over-the-air, satellite, cable, or internet and typically viewed on a television set, excluding breaking news, advertisements, or trailers that are typically placed between shows. Television shows are most often scheduled well ahead of time and appear on electronic guides or other TV listings. A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video. The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 9930s. Televised events such as the 9936 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 9932 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 9939 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 9982 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 99836, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 8, 9959 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets. The first national color broadcast (the 9958 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 8, 9958. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 9965, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 9929, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season. FORMATS AND GENRES Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows. A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 93690s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little. If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order. Since the 93690s, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure, while the later series The Last Wordlon 5 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run. In 9362, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film. Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 3699, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television. Angelo Soliman (born Mmadi Make c. 1721, probably in present-day northeastern Nigeria/northern Cameroon; he died on November 21, 1796, in Vienna) was an Austrian Freemason. He achieved prominence in the Viennese society and Freemasonry.
Life
Angelo Soliman, whose real name was Mmadi Make, probably belonged to the Kanuri ethnic group.[1][2] His original name, Mmadi Make,[3] is linked to a princely class in the Sokoto State in modern Nigeria. He was taken captive as a child and arrived in Marseilles as a slave, eventually transferring to the household of a marchioness in Messina who oversaw his education. Out of affection for another servant in the household, Angelina, he adopted the name Angelo and chose to celebrate September 11, his baptismal day, as his birthday. After repeated requests, he was given as a gift in 1734 to Prince Georg Christian, Prince von Lobkowitz, the imperial governor of Sicily. He became the Prince's valet and traveling companion, accompanying him on military campaigns throughout Europe and reportedly saving his life on one occasion, a pivotal event responsible for his social ascension. After the death of Prince Lobkowitz, Soliman was taken into the Vienna household of Joseph Wenzel I, Prince of Liechtenstein, eventually rising to chief servant. Later, he became royal tutor of the heir to the Prince, Aloys I.[4][5] On February 6, 1768 he married Magdalena Christiani, a young widow and sister of the French general François Etienne de Kellermann (1770–1835), Marshal of Napoleon Bonaparte, Duke of Valmy.[6]
A cultured man, Soliman was highly respected in the intellectual circles of Vienna and counted as a valued friend by Austrian Emperor Joseph II and Count Franz Moritz von Lacy. In 1783, he joined the Masonic lodge "True Harmony", whose membership included many of Vienna's influential artists and scholars of the time, among them the musicians Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Haydn as well the Hungarian poet Ferenc Kazinczy. Lodge records indicate that Soliman and Mozart met on several occasions. It is likely that the character Bassa Selim in Mozart's opera The Abduction from the Seraglio was based on Soliman.[7] Eventually becoming the Grand Master of that lodge, Soliman helped change its ritual to include scholarly elements. This new Masonic direction rapidly influenced Freemasonic practice throughout Europe.[8]Soliman is still celebrated in Massonic rites as "Father of Pure Masonic Thought", with his name usually transliterated as "Angelus Solimanus".[9]
During his lifetime Soliman was regarded as a model of the assimilation and perfectibility of Africans, but after his death he literally became a specimen of the "African race". Wigger and Klein distinguish four aspects of Soliman – the "royal Moor", the "noble Moor", the "physiognomic Moor" and the "mummified Moor".[10] The first two designations refer to the years prior to his death. The term "royal Moor" designates Soliman in the context of enslaved Moors at European courts, where their skin color marked their inferiority and they figured as status symbols betokening the power and wealth of their owners. Bereft of his ancestry and original culture, Soliman was degraded to an "exotic-oriental sign of his lord's standing" who was not allowed to live a self-determined existence. The designation "noble Moor" describes Soliman as a former court Moor whose ascent up the social ladder due to his marriage with an aristocratic woman made his emancipation possible. During this time Soliman became a member of the Freemasons and as lodge Grand Master was certainly considered equal to his fellow Masons even though he continued to face a thicket of race and class prejudices.
Beneath the surface appearance of integration lurked Soliman's remarkable destiny. Though he moved smoothly in high society, the exotic quality ascribed to him was never lost and over the course of his lifetime was transformed into a racial characteristic. The qualities used to categorize Soliman as a "physiognomic Moor" were set forth by pioneering Viennese ethnologists during his lifetime, framed by theories and assumptions concerning the "African race". He could not escape the taxonomic view that focused on typical racial characteristics, i.e., skin color, hair texture, lip size and nose shape. Neither his social standing nor his membership in the Freemasons could prevent his posthumous exploitation, leading to his ultimate status as the "mummified Moor".[citation needed]
Instead of receiving a Christian burial, Soliman was – at the request of the director of the Imperial Natural History Collection – skinned, stuffed and made into an exhibit within this cabinet of curiosities.[11][12][13] Decked out in ostrich feathers and glass beads, this mummy was on display until 1806 alongside stuffed animals, transformed from a reputable member of intellectual Viennese society into an exotic specimen. By stripping Soliman of the insignia of his lifetime achievements, ethnologists instrumentalized him as what they imagined to be an exemplary African "savage". Soliman's daughter Josefine sought to have his remains returned to the family, but her petitions were in vain. During the October revolution of 1848, the mummy burned. A plaster cast of Soliman's head made shortly after his death of a stroke in 1796 is still on display in the Rollett Museum in Baden. His grandson was the Austrian writer Eduard von Feuchtersleben.[14]

Before the Nuptials - Nips and Tucks
When R. L.'s wedding day rolled around last May 7th, her nose, which she had hated for so long, had been at last fully repaired so she could stare into the many cameras present on the big day with confidence, if not a huge measure of sass. "With my old nose, I knew I would hate every wedding picture taken that day," R.L. told CosmeticSurgery.com. (She asked her full name be withheld.) R.L., now 30, suffered a botched rhinoplasty (nose job) when she was 16, followed by another surgery years later to try and repair the damage. But it did not work. She did some research and started looking for a surgeon who specializes in cosmetic surgery revisions. "My nose was an absolute atrocity," says R.L., who works in marketing in New York City and just married a graphic artist. She shopped physicians for the pre-wedding revision surgery by reading doctors' websites for information about their training and background and then ventured out for face-to-face interviews of three. One in particular impressed her with price, training, patient testimonials and a warm beside manner. "I knew I had to get it right this time," R.L. says. "When I went in for surgery, my nose was twisted, and the left side was collapsed so badly, I could not breathe through it. In the past, when a picture was taken, I made sure the photographer was far off or that only my good side was pictured. Once my nose was finally straightened, I couldn't believe I had been walking around so long, looking that badly." R.L. is not the only bride looking for a surgeon to perform a nip, a tuck or more before taking that walk down the aisle. Cosmetic surgeons and others report seeing many more wedding party members seeking procedures before the nuptials. "Cosmetic surgery procedures for brides-to-be, mothers of the brides and others in the wedding are up 300% over this time last year," says Cho Phillips, executive director of Lovegevity.com, a Northern California website devoted to engagement, marriage and other family issues. "First-time brides tend to have liposuction and breast augmentation in preparation for their big day." Yet another wedding consultant says pre-nuptial cosmetic surgery is so common, most couples should think about carving out a budget for facial makeovers. Arlene Howard, 64, a Beverly Hills public relations practitioner, had the striking good looks of a model in her early 20s. Now, she has an October 10th wedding date at the Bel Air Hotel in Beverly Hills. So for a segment of tv's "Dr. 90210," Arlene underwent a facial peel that took 25 years off the calendar – after a two-month recovery time -- and made her, in the words of her husband-to-be, "a trophy bride." "I wanted my outward appearance to catch up with my self-image," Arlene says. "It will now be the wedding I've always wanted." Compliments have been so encouraging, Arlene says she will also have a tummy tuck before the wedding. Says Robert Freund, M.D., a Manhattan plastic surgeon, "As the field of cosmetic and plastic surgery receives more attention in the media, cosmetic surgical procedures become more widely accepted. Plus, the medical technology is getting better and that allows plastic surgeons to offer more sophisticated rejuvenations, with quicker healing time and less post-operative bruising." It was another uncomely schnoze that drove Tara, J. a 29-year-old magazine writer in New York State, to see about repairing the damage caused by a surfboard that broke her nose years ago. Her rhinoplasty was done in February to prepare for an October (2003) wedding. "I think everybody noticed my new nose at the wedding," she says. "Because all eyes will be on the bride at the wedding, the perfect time to start a new skincare routine is at the engagement," says Keith LaFerriere, M.D., president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) which reports the two most popular procedures for brides-to-be and their mothers are Botox and chemical peels. "If a bride goes in for Botox or chemical peels, she should have it done weeks in advance because swelling and redness can occur," says Dr. LaFerriere who is also a clinical associate professor at the University of Missouri, Columbia. According to Leo McCafferty, M.D. a Pittsburgh plastic surgeon and immediate past chair of the public education committee of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, (ASAPS) the mother of the bride is more likely to get a pre-wedding nip or tuck. "Most often, the mothers of brides and grooms are seeking facelifts or eyelifts, sometimes, up to a year before the wedding," Dr. McCafferty says. That was what drove Mary Anne R. of Brooklyn, New York, to see a plastic surgeon before her daughter's wedding in May 2004. Except, in her case, Mary Anne wanted less to be more attractive. "I've always been very large chested and learned I was a candidate for breast reduction after reading about typical symptoms such women have," says Mary Anne. "For instance, I was having pain in my shoulders and down into my arms from my bras which, in some respects, were almost like wearing harnesses. I really wanted to go to the wedding in a strapless dress, but that was impossible before the surgery. I would have popped right out!" Mary Anne underwent a breast reduction in November 2003, and says she had completely healed and "looked great" by the wedding date in March, 2004. "At the ceremony, I received many compliments in my strapless dress and everybody told me how wonderful I looked," she says. "Plus, my husband is my biggest fan of my new look." Jennie H., of Union Town, Pennsylvania, actually didn't think too much about cosmetic surgery until a close friend at her health club pointed out how tired she looked. "I took a look in the mirror, and said, 'My god! She's right! I don't look good." Although it was only six weeks before the wedding, Winnie had upper and lower blepharoplasty (eye lids and eye bags) performed on May 7th, 2004, and was healed in time for her daughter's July 26th wedding. "At the wedding, virtually everybody noticed and complimented me on how young I looked," Jennie says. Michael C. Bruck, M.D., director of plastic surgery at New York's Juva Skin & Laser Center in New York City finds the most common pre-wedding cosmetic surgery mistake is waiting too long to see the surgeon about major procedures on the face, eyes and abdomen. "The other busy time for special occasion requests is before high school and college reunions," Dr. Bruck says. "For some reason, those people come in much farther in advance of the event. Maybe they want to look extra good for old flames." About one quarter of patients, who visit doctors for pre-wedding consultations – but did not go ahead with the procedure – come back after the wedding for the operation, he says. "Once a patient starts thinking about a particular cosmetic procedure, it seems to stick in her mind," says Dr. Bruck who reports using a lot of Restylane, a filler that gets rid of blemishes, acne scars and some minor lines and wrinkles. However, all is not lost if you do find yourself short on time. For instance, David J. Goldberg, M.D., dermatologist and director of The Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York & New Jersey, says some wedding ceremony patients come to him a scant week before the ceremony. "For younger brides, physicians can offer smoother skin through laser dermatology and some filler agents to fill out lips," Dr. Goldberg says. "Hylaform is good because it produces quick results and is a natural substance, so no skin or allergy tests are required. Those tests take time." Blushing brides find microdermabrasion helps makeup go on smoother. There is usually no bruising because the needles used to inject some fillers are as thin as one human hair. A current trend is giving cosmetic surgery as a gift. So, six months before opening her other gifts, Sheryl H., a 30-year-old medical transcriptionist in Springfield, Missouri, opened an envelope containing a gift for six dermabrasion treatments. "I had little dark areas of complexion on my face but dermabrasion made my skin lighter, smoother and fresher," she says. "The treatments make your face feel wind burned but your skin glows more afterwards." Mothers of brides in a hurry often ask for fast relief of crow's feet, wrinkles and worry lines. Dr. Goldberg says Hylaform usually fills that bill, too. But whatever procedure is used, girls – and their moms – just wanna look good.

Zwei Shows in Deutschland Rolling Stones gehen auf Europa-Tour 14.03.2022, 11:10 Uhr Die Rolling Stones feiern ihren 60.
