The addict in me
The times I hit the rock bottom
Of sadness, hopelessness
And all things negative
When I want to forget
And be forgotten
Or cease to exist in the mind of all,
My weakness gets the best of me
When I turn
to drown my sorrows
Shamelessly with no remorse
In the full seasons of kdramas

1. ML of Love of Nirvana still continues to be a mini drama ML rampaging in a “proper” production. I love it but that man is 100% a goner by the end. He’s got enough death flags to open a whole flag franchise.
2. I sped ran through Pinocchio. As you can tell by the fact that I did a 20 ep drama in less than a day, there was a lot of skipping and 4x.
Honestly, out of all the LJS dramas I’ve watched, I like this one the least except for Big Mouth (and Big Mouth was actually a better drama imo just not my type of narrative.) LJS is great as usual and Park Shin Hye surprisingly OK (she’s one of the very popular actors where I don’t get the love) and supporting cast quite solid but the story was honestly a mess, various narratives stitched together haphazardly.
I am still trying to figure out what is the point of having a separated brother who’s a killer, gets arrested in ep 8 and then occasionally dispenses world wisdom from behind bars. (Not even getting into the fact that a man who’d kill three men for revenge the way he did is not gonna be sure fair enough bring down the rest legally little bro I am gonna confess. Or the fact that the way they wasted Yoon Kyun Sang in that pointless role was criminal.)
And the mom is a character who makes no sense - the way she randomly got redeemed as a journalist and mother made zero sense. Also not a fan of the whole “she got bribed” narrative as the original one of journalist just seeking eyeballs and doing anything for it hit harder and is more common.
The way she escaped truly significant punishment was…well.
Anyway, that drama was a mess.
3. My next modern binge drama (since My Country the New Age is too heavy and meaty to really mainline) is Hello Monster aka I Remember You.
I am less than half an ep in but I am adoring it. I miss the days when Jang Nara played roles that did not revolve around cheated on wives. Also only she could make that character adorable instead of annoying. And this drama has EVERYONE!
Clearly I need my drama to have a serial killer in it to be addicted. So..
Tumblr media
In conclusion that’s FL about ML in Hello Monster. Persistence is our all!!!

It has been a while since I do this… have the
Exorcists AU
Might change the name at one point.
• so this is based on a KDrama, I never fully watched it, but I saw the ending(ish)
• anyways, Cole and Lloyd have exorcist abilities, while Jay & Kai are psychics
- Cole lost his abilities(not permanently) after sealing Yang and decided to live a normal life
- Jay still has his abilities, but since there isn't an exorcist to help him with, he also decided to live a normal life (he still wears the necklace, since it's more dangerous that the exorcist doesn't have his abilities at the moment)
- Lloyd is a newbie exorcist that thought he's going crazy just because he started seeing ghosts again (he used to see them as a kid, but it stopped when he was like 9-12)
- Kai is a newbie pyschic whom got possessed by a vengeful spirit, which was the thing that started this story lol
• the necklace they're wearing (or at least had to wear) have vengestone pendants or is made of vengestone
• I think you guys know what an exorcist is, so I'm gonna explain what a pyschic is: Since the vengeful spirit has no body, so it can only be exorcized when it's inside the psychic's body
• Steep Wisdom and Steeper Wisdom coexists:
- Steeper Wisdom is the tea shop and Steep Wisdom is the Real Estate (for haunted houses)
- Steep Wisdom is temporarily closed since Cole temporarily lost his abilities
- Cole and Jay have part-time jobs at Steeper Wisdom
• I don't know whether to make them almost-graduating-from-highschool students or college students

Healer (2014-15)
Tumblr media
I completely enjoyed this show. The writers play with alot of tropes from both kdrama-land and comic books, but the show still kept my interest. Mainly because the writers made sure to ground everything in believable and interesting relationships. But most importantly—you get Kim Mi-kyung as a freakin hacker!!
Tumblr media
She knits, she dispenses rough wisdom, makes lots of gimbap, and hacks just like the geeky guys in Hollywood! (That's to say, with lots of keyboard tapping and plot related antics that have no relation to reality!)
The OTP relationship between Ji Chang-wook's character and Park Min-young's character is the highlight, of course, but the show is packed with interesting character moments and relationships.
The American show this most reminds me of is Person of Interest which is amazing and I will always love. It's got the muscle, the grumpy hacker, and a ton of fun relationships that build over time.
The Performances
Ji Chang-wook as Seo Jung-hu (aka "Healer"). The show does a good job of setting up the badass fighter side of him. What makes the character interesting is the other roles he takes on as throughout the series. The writers pull a page from comics and give him a "Clark Kent" style alter-ego as Park Bong-soo. This could have been very silly, but Chang-wook makes it work and is just as entertaining when playing "Bong-soo" as he is as "Healer".
Park Min-young as Chae Young-shin. Min-young does an amazing job bringing this character to life. In a lesser show, the "plucky girlfriend" could feel stale and boring, but Young-shin is a character with many layers and a fair amount of trauma, and Park Min-young manages to do a good job with all of that, while still highlighting the fun and sunny side of the character. So good to watch in every scene.
Kim Mi-kyung as Hacker Ahjumma. I already love watching Kim Mi-kyung on screen. She makes every role she plays fun and interesting, but you could tell how much she enjoyed this role. We need more grumpy middle-aged women hackers in TV land!
Oh Kwang-rok as Ki Young-jae (aka fighter ahjusshi, aka "Healer 1.0"). He's not in every episode, but the character is so memorable you feel like he's there even when he's not. Another case where you could just tell the actor was having so much fun that he brings you along with him. Really fun to watch!
Everyone else. Look, they're pretty much all great. Even the big baddies are believable and interesting rather than being cartoon evvil. The tragic backstories are suitably sad. The colorful side characters are fun. Just watch it. Or don't, I'm not your ahjumma / ahjusshi.
TL; DR:
I liked this show alot and would recommend it to people who like Person of Interest or similar fun action / vigilante shows. The first two episodes are good, but fairly predictable for an action show. Episodes 3-4 are where you'll probably decide whether you're all in or not, but if you can stick with it, you'll enjoy the ride!

Jiwon - Detailed Profile
Name: Jiwon Han Nickname: "Golden Boy" Meaning of name: His family name, Han, means "king," "kingdom," and/or "country." His given name consists of "ji" (wisdom, intellect), and "won" (source, origin, beginning). Note that "won" when written with a different hanja can mean "beautiful woman", so imagine Zen's surprise when he saw a beautiful man walk on set! Age: 22 Pronouns: he/him Blood type: B+ Nationality: South Korean Sexual Orientation: Homosexual Love Interest: Zen Birthdate: July 31 Occupation: Kdrama actor Hobbies/Pastimes: Going to the gym, watching idols, birdwatching Talents/Skills/Powers: Physical strength, gets along with everyone, great listener, can customize skincare routines
Physical Characteristics Height: 188 cm (6'2") Weight: 🙂 Posture: Excellent posture. Shoulders back, chin up. As a member of the Han family, he was raised to present himself with pride and elegance. Build: Broad shouldered. On the slimmer side. Most of his weight comes from muscle, and he often needs to see dieticians to ensure he's getting enough nutrients and fats to keep his heart healthy. His core is probably the strongest part of his body, but he doesn't skimp on arm or leg day! (His biceps, abs, and quads are quite popular among his fans.) Hair: Short and jet black. In the back it's well kempt and never goes too far down his neck, but in the front he has thick, long bangs that are parted on the right side of his head and swoop towards the left. Ears: Normal sized. Detached lobes. Rounded. Eyes: Deep purple. Monolidded. He has a dark beauty mark beneath the outer corner of his left eye. Nose: Thin, "Grecian" style. Mouth: Bow-shaped lips. Straight, glittering white teeth that are almost always beaming a smile. Face shape: Oblong. Prominent jawline. You could probably sharpen a rock on his jawline. Expressions: Vivid. Bold. Almost no poker face except during interviews (which took some trial and error). Part of the reason he's so popular is because he emotes powerfully on screen with his characters. Tattoos/Scars?: None. He wants a tattoo of a heart on his heel, but he's worried about damaging his reputation and career. Left/Right-handed?: Right Distinguishing features: Beauty mark. Jawline. Wide, friendly smile. His curiosity. Who does s/he take after; mother or father?: Father, appearance-wise. (Those Han genes are strong.) His eyes come from his mother, though. Style (Elegant, shabby, etc): Quite causal and relaxed, actually! How does s/he dress or what do they typically wear?: He likes sweatpants, athletic wear, and hoodies! Also a big fan of muscle shirts and graphic tees. Dresses up for interviews and red carpet events, though. Likes gold jewelry, like chain necklaces and stud earrings. Health: Better than it used to be. He looks healthy, but he has struggled significantly with an ED for most of his life. He tries to stay upbeat but sometimes the pressure gets to him, whether from directors, costars, paparazzi, etc. He doesn't get too down on himself otherwise, because he truly enjoys what he does. Not smart enough to be depressed tbh Voice Claim: (TBD) Background: Jiwon is a son of the Han family, a cousin to Jumin Han. Born into wealth, he was expected to perhaps go into business or politics, but he instead chose the arts. Jiwon has a lust for life and enjoys making people feel happiness, sadness, fear, surprise, etc. He wants everyone to feel the beauty of being alive. He knows his relatives are emotionally repressed, but he doesn't quite realize how much of an elite bubble he's living in until he starts meeting more ordinary people, like fans, directors, extras on set, etc. Jiwon has known for a long time that he is gay, but he is not able to reveal that safely without the threat of harm to his career or his personal safety. He's always felt more attachment to his male costars and never felt any romantic pull to the countless women he's had to kiss or hug for his shows. He's just a big gay puppy boy full of excitement, loyalty, and not enough fun snacks like potato chips or instant ramen.

You know what? I think this is a chance to be like or better than our parents and grandparents.
We all have those things we go to them for that we don't know how to do like changing a tire or getting the most out of those scraps of clothes we refuse to throw out or the secret to making some bomb-ass cookies or just fixing whatever breaks. Basic things back then that we don't really think about nowadays.
I think this sort of computer knowledge is or generation's "ask your (grand)parents" arcane wisdom, so I think we should make the most of it. Don't take what we know for granted and jot down notes for how to extract a compressed folder or getting a good adblocker or where that good pirate bounty is so they can watch their anime or kdrama or tokusatsu that doesn't get aired where they live or even just installing a program or renaming a file. Put them in a rolodex or something, I don't know.
This isn't a time to chastise the younger generation. This is a time to get our knowledge ready to pass on to them. Make your Library of Alexandria.
Just... make sure you have basic online etiquette as, like, the first thing you teach them because the internet is absolute dogshit nowadays. I want to go back to the days where you were DIScouraged from sharing all your contact info and shit online.
Tumblr media
Here, I've given you one thing to add to rolodex.
Telling young zoomers to "just switch to linux" is nuts some of these ipad kids have never even heard of a cmd.exe or BIOS you're throwing them to the wolves

Catching up on anime today, still on the hunt for another good kdrama. Watched Wisteria Wand and Sword, Reincarnated as a Slime and True Beauty. Also finished playing the main story of Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. It’s one of my favorite Zelda games of all time. It’s been a long time since I’ve really gotten into a Zelda like this.

It was perhaps the best way to show how fate works in really mysterious ways, and you never know until it all unfolds before you. Nobody--including Im Sol and the audience--back in 2008 or OG 2023 would've thought this guy would not just be a prop second male lead to serve the typical kdrama jealousy trope. I love, love, love how his character is written. Best SML ever.
And this also goes on to show why these boys keep falling for Im Sol left right and center in different timelines, because she's, just, so. inherently. GOOD? Whether it is holding an umbrella over the delivery guy (lmao Seon Jae), giving him candies for his hard work in the rain, or giving her 'first love'/crush some much needed attention, care and words of wisdom, she does it simply because whether it's the 19yo or the 34yo Im Sol, Im Sol is just a good person, who wants people in her life to be well and do well.
To think Tae Sung wasn't even in the original story. Aah I'm forever thankful to the writer.
I love how this show portrayed how no act of kindness goes to waste. Im Sol had no real reason to show friendship to the random high-school dropout guy she had a crush on when she was 19. But she did. She convinced him to abandon his rackety lifestyle, dressed his wounds, urged him to consider a parent’s point of view which in turn acted as catalyst for the mending of his relationship with his father, encouraged him to graduate, and praised him wholeheartedly when he did so. All of which (the scolds and the compliments) added up to him finding his purpose and making a good life for himself.
Her sincere and unceasing kindness towards Kim Tae Song in all the timelines gained her not only a friend for life, but the said friend turned out to be the one who ultimately reversed her ill fortune. Saving not only her but the man she loves as well. Thereby securing them a happy future together.

Lee Yi Kyung
the “Gwenchana, gwenchana” kdrama actor from “Welcome to Waikiki” and “Marry My Husband”
Lee Yi Kyung Honors His Father's Dream By Donning Seoul National University Graduation Dress
From the article:
Recounting his father's words of wisdom, Lee Yi Kyung revealed, "I used to play sports, but I gave up because I got hurt. After my dream disappeared, I developed a mental disease [depression]. My dad said, 'Just live doing what you want to do,' and signed my [school] withdrawal papers".
What loving advice!

background notes for One Way or Another
from my ongoing story One Way or Another
Set in an AU where Bangtan disbanded amicably in 2018
Beta Jin completed his military service and moved into a career as a television host, similar to Kelly Clarkson in that he sometimes performs songs on his show. He also does the occasional film
Alpha Hoseok and Beta Yoongi stayed in the company, Yoongi as an in house producer and Hoseok as a manager/trainer for new groups. They frequently collaborate and still release solo music. Hoseok served in the army and Yoongi did the civil service bc of his shoulder.
During his service Alpha Namjoon was fast tracked as an English translator; post discharge he moved to Los Angeles (splits his time between LA and Seoul), has a popular podcast in English but still drops tracks in Korean
Beta Jungkook opted to enlist in the navy and based himself in Busan to be closer to his family/visit during leave times. Afterwards, he moved to Los Angeles and lives in Namjoon’s beach house. Jungkook does not release music, which has led to fan suspicion that he has a new contract with Hybe, but it’s more of an open agreement where they develop him at whatever pace. He basically uses their buildings as free gym and dance classes. What the others know that the public does not is that Jungkook is hoping Bangtan will get back together for an album release.
Omega Taehyung successfully transitioned back into kdramas. Omega Jimin participated in a few seasons of a reality show based around dance, and then started his own youtube content channel. Jimin released one solo EP and Taehyung has dropped a ton of jazz singles that will probably get a special vinyl release at some point
Vmin are the only ones who have not completed their service since they were waiting for Jimin to be ready to retire from dancing professionally. They had planned on enlisting together. They are a happy mated couple in a world where omega pairs are rare, but not unheard of. However they relied on popular wisdom that claimed omegas impregnating each other was extremely difficult. This is not the case and Jimin ends up pregnant unexpectedly.

Talking with my mom is always a rollercoaster
We could be talking about her family trauma and the next minute be talking about the most recent Kdrama she watched
Also, the amount of times I’ve thought about quoting her is insane. Y’all would love her and her infinite mind of wisdom
