hello friends <3 for the month of july i'm putting together a little writing challenge (kind of like nanowrimo!) I'd like to get a lot of writing done this summer and I'm hoping through this little challenge I (and a few others) can get some work done!
The Rules Are Simple:
on july 1st put forth a writing goal you'd like to have met by the end of the month. this can be a wordcount, a pagecount, a paragraph count or an overall time spent writing. basically any sort of measurable goal
every day for the month of july put forth work towards your goal
post a daily recap/diary/log of the work you did that day and how you were feeling throughout the porocess of completing it either here using the tag #kc-writechall or posting in the daily report channel of our discord server!
with all that, i hope to make this a successful bit of writing for us all this july and i hope you'll join me on this little pursuit <3

I couldn’t sleep last night so I stayed up late writing and I’ve yet to really get around to some shut eye so I figured I’d do an example of what my daily report will probably look like. This is by no means like what you HAVE to do. Part of my process as a writer (and something that has helped me become better at it) is sort of introducing mindfulness practices and reflecting on what went right/wrong and how I felt throughout the process and is just an example of how one person is going to do this. You could literally just write. Yep. Here’s the date. I wrote 510 words today.
Anyways. I wrote about 3500 words last night (early this morning) on a romance scene between my character nash and the mc. I’ve been really stressing out about this scene bc it’s nsfw and I become like extremely nervous around writing stuff around that, so I popped on Gibson girl by Ethel Cain and got into a sort of trance state and popped it out. Overall, I’m happy with how it came out, (but I’ve yet to do any real editing on it so let’s see how well that sticks lol) and despite feeling stressed about it, sitting down and forcing myself to do it and rip the bandaid off felt really good, and I’m happy that the biggest chunk of it is over with. I need to work on just getting myself to write even if I don’t feel like it and not waiting till 2:30 am to start on something I’ve been putting off for a week (but, that’s what this challenge is about am I right fellas? (gender neutral)) overall successful day 0, and I really hope I can keep some semblance of this momentum up throughout the new month. ✌️
