8. which of your own projects have shaped your writing the most? in what way?

I'm gonna say that writing course that I took in sixth? grade. I hated writing so much, but it forced me to write and I got good at writing through it, and now I enjoy it and think often about those assignments.

The Music of the Night for the WIP ask game pretty please <3

this one's one of my favorite original wips, about a vampire who can't touch water falling in love with a mermaid who can't leave the sea!!!! here is a little snippet!!!!!!!

"I opened my eyes to face whatever man was so powerful that even my song couldn't reach him- but when I saw his face, I understood. His skin was as pale as the moon that drew my tides, teeth as sharp as the rocks where my enemies meet their final end, his lips as red as their spilled blood, and his eyes a deep blue like the ocean I call home- though not without their own blood redness to them. I'd never thought a man beautiful until that day."

5 and 19 for an OC of your choice

yay! I'm gonna answer about my darling Maristella!

5. How did you choose their name and why? Was it simply based on vibes or is there any specific meaning behind the name? Are the reasons behind their name different in- and out of universe?

I've loved the name Maristella for an exceptionally long time! I kinda made it up while I was making a Tangled the Series OC, but decided the name wouldn't work for a coronan librarian's granddaughter, so I decided to set it aside for a special purpose. Maristella is a name that does, in fact, exist, but I accidentally reinvented it by throwing the names "Maris" and "Stella" together. Maris relates to water, and the sea, and Stella refers to the stars, and when you put them together, it means "the star of the sea."

Stars and the sea are a recurring theme throughout this story, often paired together through descriptions and dialogue. The Star of the Sea is also the name of the Admiral's flagship, and, yes, he named it after his daughter, not the other way around, and when she was growing up, he'd often call her his "little seastar."

In-universe, the name was intentionally chosen as well. During her father's time in the navy, especially in the years before he became Admiral, what kept him going the most was knowing that his wife was waiting back at the homeland, and that everything he did was to protect her. About a month or two after one of his first leaves, he recieved word that his wife was pregnant with their first child. Throughout the rest of that year until he'd return home next, what kept him alive, what kept him on course, was knowing he had yet to meet his daughter. She was his guiding star, and he named her after that.

Maristella's last name also has meaning too. Knowing her last name would also be her father's, searched for names that had strong, authoritative presence. When I stumbled upon the name "Arrington," which means "where the eagle flies," I fell in love with it, and it suits their family perfectly.

19. What is your general favourite thing about the character? What is your least favourite?

My favorite thing about Maristella is that she's not just a #girlboss but she's also not a damsel in distress. She's allowed to be in love without being weak. In fact, her love for those around her is what strengthens her.

I can't think of a least favroite thing about her right now.

The first fic that comes to mind for your username is the Belle x August one where he's buying flowers for her from her dad, and neither of them know. It was very sweet!

It makes me really happy that this fic is the one you associate with me. It's quite literally underrated compared to my other fics, but one of my favorites and has the sweetest and softest vibes, with a bit of situational comedy and a sprinkling of academia, and it really is a comfort fic for me.

This fic was part of what launched me into studying Victorian flower langauge, and I ended up making flashcards based on all the flowers mentioned in this fic!

1. How many words did you post this past year?

59,451! Which is less than half of last year's total, but also most of last year I wrote in 2022 and posted in 2023 because it was OUaT stuff I didn't want spoiled 😅

5. What fic surprised you with how much interaction it got this past year?

While I'm most proud of the feedback I got on need a player 2?, I think I was more surprised by all the response to SCRHSAPKOLB(NC!!!!!) just because I wasn't going into it writing something impressive, I just wanted to have a funky good time!

9. What are you most proud of accomplishing in your writing goals this past year?

finishing need a player 2?, writing 25 drabbles based on one song because that kind of challenge has been a dream of mine for a while, and getting the third draft of my original novel written!

Not counting drabbles, nine different fandoms! A couple of the fics were gen, but one fandom had three pairings and another had two, so I think I did ten different pairings! Counting drabbles, I wrote for twenty-five pairings spanning nine different fandoms!

7. Share a line/paragraph/snippet that you were especially proud of from a work this year!

here's a snippet from a non-canon fanfic i wrote about my ocs!

"...she pulled out a locket from under her uniform, a devoted secret, one that, by now, had become a part of her. Some days she hardly noticed the heart as it hung next to hers, but others it was all she noticed, especially on nights such as these. Once again she ran her fingers along the worn edges, the clasp opening almost of its own will, and though the lighting around was dim, she wouldn't've needed it to see the face held within..."

8. What's your favorite work you posted this past year?

need a player 2? it took so long, and I'm so proud of it!

10. What are your writing goals for the upcoming year?

My fanfic goal is to finish a couple chapters of SCRHSAPKOLB(NCB!!!!!) but my other writing goal is to publish my book!
