When Kaze found out you were pregnant, he was over the moon. You’d never seen a smile so wide.

He didn't speak, but pulled you into his embrace and held you for ages. He didn’t let you go all night.

As you started to show more, so did his protective nature. He became far more doting than you thought possible.

Your gripes were more focused on your aching back and swollen feet than Kaze catering to every need. You were stuck on bedrest, shuffling the pillows to try and get comfortable.

“Is your back still hurting, my love?” Kaze’s voice drew you from your discomfort, spotting him as he entered the room with a fresh, hot cup of tea.

You smiled tiredly at him and nodded, shifting your pillows around, again.

“This little one isn’t giving me a chance to settle down.” You sighed, “If it’s not my back, the baby’s kicking and causing all sorts of trouble. And if it’s not either of them, I’m overcome with the need to go to the bathroom, almost instantly after I’ve settled in!”

“It sounds as though you are struggling through a serious trial.”

Kaze gave a sincere frown despite his amused tone, setting the tea aside as he came to help you.

“Let’s take care of things one step at a time, then. Why don’t you go ahead and go to the bathroom, and I’ll fix your bedding.”

“Would you?” You sighed happily as he helped you up, his hand gentle against your lower back as he helped you to the washroom.

Thankfully you hadn’t reached the stage where he needed to help you use the bathroom, so you still had a small shred of independence.

Kaze was busying himself with the pillows, fluffing them up and settling them at a very specific angle.

He seemed completely focused on making the bed as perfect for you as possible, which drew a smile to your lips.

“Feeling better?” He asked when you returned, slipping an arm around his waist.

You nodded as he pressed a kiss to your hair.

“Good. Let’s get you in bed, then. I’ve calculated the exact angle that should relieve the pressure on your back, and I’m happy massage you, if it helps.”

“You’re actually an angel, aren’t you?” You mumbled happily as you curled into his embrace. Kaze laughed and stroked your hair, mindful of your growing baby bump.

“I should be asking you that question, oh mother of my child.” He mused, parting just long enough to help you back into the bed.

You beamed as he came in beside you, handing you the cup and saucer before he slipped his hand behind you, nestled in that nook the pillow provided.

“Mm...yes, please…” You sighed into your tea, his fingers pushing deep into your aching back.

He observed you silently, that ever-knowing smile on his lips present as you relaxed into his touch.

Kaze knew that pregnancy was difficult. In order to mitigate your struggles, he did extensive research into how to aid you best.

It both relieved and prided him to know that he was helping you, and yielding results. You leaned into his touch, the tea nearly forgotten.

“I love you so much.” You whispered, finishing off your tea with a delighted hum. Kaze chuckled at your unguarded confession, and slipped his hand out from behind you.

He had the pillow set in such a way that you barely even realized his hand was missing until you felt it slide gently over your baby bump.

He leaned closer, his head resting atop your belly as he looked up at you. “You should know I return that love a thousand fold, Corrin.”

“I do.” You giggled as you threaded your fingers through his hair. Seeing him so open and sweet, more so than usual, it truly made your heart swell with love.

He was everything you could’ve asked for, if not more.

“You’re going to be a wonderful mother, too, you know. I’m sure that no matter what gender the baby is, you’ll be the favorite parent.”

“I’d hate for you to be left out, though. Maybe we should have another to even the odds. Then you can be the favorite for one, and I’ll be the favorite for the other.”

“You truly want to have another baby? Even though you’ve not even had this one, yet?” Kaze laughed softly, “Despite all the trouble this little one will put you through?”

“I’d gladly have as many children as you wanted, because it’s you.” You confessed, drawing a blush to his cheeks. “That, and any baby that’s a child of yours will be just as handsome, no doubt.”

“And as beautiful as their mother, mind you.” He added, pressing a chaste kiss to the baby bump. A little foot tapped against the spot his lips touched, drawing a grin to his face. “Feisty, too, it seems.”

“Considering how often they knock around, I’m not surprised.”

“You be gentle with your mother, now.” Kaze chided in a warm voice, “She’s bringing you into this world. I highly doubt she couldn’t take you out of it.”

“That’s my joke to make.” You giggled again, and pinched his cheek. Kaze snickered as he ran his hands over your stomach, his soothing ministrations relaxing both you and the baby.

“It’s important to communicate, though, isn’t it? I would hate for the baby to give you so much trouble. I want this to be as easy a pregnancy as possible.”

“I'm sure it will be.” You confessed as you stroked his hair once more, drawing him back up to your side.

The last trimester was certainly a trial, however Kaze kept things from getting too troublesome with his expertise in pregnant wife assistance.

He stayed by your side through thick and then that trimester, happy as can be when all his efforts yielded a precious little girl with hair as green as his, and eyes as sparkling and sweet as yours.
