It was more than I ever hoped for

I adore that it really is an origin story for Nemo. He's different from who we know him to be because he's yet to become that man, but there are moments when we see him beginning.

I am so happy that Humility wasn't some useless British lady which was admittedly one of my biggest fears for the show. She has a brain and opinions and heart and is just lovely.

I know that they're setting Nemo and Humility up for their romance, which I am all for, but I gotta say Kai and Loti have won my heart right now. He is an adorable malewife and she is That Bitch.

I did not expect what they did to Aadesh. Had me on my toes the whole time because of it.

I feared for Archie's wellbeing the entire time, not gonna lie

Blaster is just adorable and I will hunt down Lord Prat - Oops, I mean Prit - if it's the last thing I do.

Gia stomps through the rental house looking for the bathroom to find her best friend. Sidney tags along but doesn't speak. He's busy trying to think of something witty to say in this moment. Something so cool or funny that would impress this pretty girl in a cheetah print dress.

Kayden exits the bathroom as Gia and Sidney enter the kitchen. There was a fire earlier, caused by a drunk teen, and one of the kegs and the stove are burned and it smells disgusting.

GIA: KAYDEN.

GIA: Where is Tati?

GIA: Why did you chase her into the bathroom, you creep?

KAYDEN: I don't owe you anything, Gia.

GIA: Wow. Do you even care about her feelings, at all?

Sidney's internal monologue: I just wanted to drink tonight. WTF is this bro. He wanted to get Gia's number, but now is probably not the time.

SIDNEY: hey, gia? maybe take a breather.

GIA: Ugh. Whatever. Gia stomps off toward the back patio.

Disney+ Not Going Forward With ‘Nautilus’ UK Series As Part Of Cost-Cutting Content Removal

EXCLUSIVE: Nautilus, the UK live-action Captain Nemo series commissioned by Disney+ two years ago, is no longer headed to the streamer, Deadline has learned.

The decision is part of Disney’s streaming content removal plan unveiled in May, for which the company is taking an impairment charge of approximately $1.5 billion-$1.8 billion. It followed the February announcement by Disney that it intends to cut $3 billion in non-sports content spend across the company.

As part of the cost-reduction strategy, Disney’s streaming platforms, particularly flagship Disney+, have been taking a closer look on their programming with a new emphasis on content curation.

As Deadline reported exclusively Saturday, Disney+ also is not going forward with another upcoming original series, the The Spiderwick Chronicles, a U.S. live-action series adaptation of the popular children’s fantasy books.

Over the past couple of months, dozens of original series and specials were taken off Disney+ as well as Hulu, and Disney CEO Bob Iger also announced a pullback in new Marvel and Star Wars shows and movies for Disney+.

Like The Spiderwick Chronicles, which is currently being shopped by lead studios Paramount Television Studios, Nautilus has been shot; it started filming in February 2022 in Australia. Disney+ is working with the production team to find a new home for Nautilus, with meetings and screenings underway.

Nautilus was announced during the 2021 Edinburgh TV Festival along with two other new original UK series for Disney+. No other UK local originals are understood to be impacted by the content cuts.

Disney+’s UK scripted and unscripted programming pipeline includes Culprits, from J Blakeson; Jilly Cooper’s Rivals; A Thousand Blows, from Stephen Graham; Coleen Rooney’s upcoming documentary, In Vogue, from Vogue Studios and Raw; and Shardlake, based on the novels by C. J. Sansom.

The streamer also recently greenlit two new U.K. drama series, Jeff Pope’s Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes, and thriller Playdate.

Based on the Jules Verne’s classic novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Nautilus is a 10-part live-action adventure series about the origin story of Verne’s iconic character, Captain Nemo, and his famous submarine, The Nautilus.

In this retelling, Nemo (Shazad Latif) is an Indian Prince robbed of his birth right and family, a prisoner of the East India Company and a man bent on revenge against the forces which have taken everything from him. But once he sets sail with his ragtag crew on board the awe-inspiring Nautilus, he not only battles with his enemy, he also discovers a magical underwater world.

Also starring are Georgia Flood and Thierry Frémont, with Pacharo Mzembe, Arlo Green, Tyrone Ngatai, Ling Cooper Tang, Andrew Shaw, Ashan Kumar, Céline Menville and Kayden Price rounding out the cast. Nautilus is produced by Xavier Marchand’s Moonriver Studios and Anand Tucker’s Seven Stories.

KarKay Insecurities

— Preface:

Let me just start by saying I noticed two major insecurities that Kayden and Kartein have. For Kayden, he is cautious about his perception and image regarding power. For Kartein, he is cautious about who can claim a relationship to him and his ability to do genuinely kind deeds

— One:

Kayden’s image and perception. Three distinct moments jump out at me for Kayden here. One, when he says to Jiwoo that he beat up people in order to show the world that he is still strong (181, 214). Two, when he had that particular smile in front of Jiwoo before suffering in the basement to do force control (262). Three, Kayden being quite angry at Pluton for saying he wouldn't fight (277).

All three instances show that Kayden is actually very cautious about how people perceive him regarding strength. Everyone mentioned in those points has to see him as strong and Kayden goes to great lengths to maintain that image (fighting people, smiling through pain in front of Jiwoo, explosively ranting at Pluton). He cannot afford to be weak in these moments, and he shows that he actually does consider perception as part of strength. If he only thought raw power was needed to maintain image, he wouldn't have cared about perception

— Two:

Kartien's relationships and kindness. Two moments jump at me for Kartein, but there are definitely more scattered throughout the comic. One, when Kartein claims Jiwoo as his patient, rather than allowing someone to say that he is Jiwoo's physician (even though it's the same thing) (228). Two, when Kartein literally seems to blame cat poop for going off to help Subin’s grandpa (also 228).

At first, Kartein is only willing to associate with Jiwoo and Kayden on a professional basis for a decent price (healing Jiwoo in exchange for a new force method). But as we go along in the comic, he increasingly finds more flimsy excuses to be kind (cat poop my dude…) and more wonky ways to ensure that he is in control of a relationship with someone (Jiwoo must be his patient, not him being Jiwoo's physician). Kartein is quite ridiculous in his lengths to cover up genuine care for people, but he does so anyways regardless of how foolish he looks. I think it's interesting how he feels the absolute need to control his relationships to someone

— Three:

But Kartein notices Kayden’s insecurity. When Kayden went down to the basement, Jiwoo seemed to take the reply at face value, but Kartein was the one who really noticed (262). His expressions tell the story, he knows something is up with Kayden, that he is very very injured. Unfortunately Kartein doesn't do too much about it, I just think it's interesting that he did notice. That Kayden panel really breaks my heart though, I wish Kartein did more (but helping him would interfere with his relationship insecurity for sure). There's also the time during WAA (214) where Kartein asks why Kayden fought. He agreed that Kayden did the right thing to preserve his image

— Four:

And Kayden also seems to notice Kartein's insecurity. I know it's framed as a joke when Kayden makes the script with Jiwoo to convince Kartein to heal the grandpa (228). But that hides the fact Kayden is actually helping Kartein by giving him an excuse to be kind. For example, in the beginning Kayden used the same taunting method to get Kartein to heal Jiwoo's core (138). He taunted Kartein into doing something— this is a genuine taunt during the core healing moment, but I think the implications during the grandpa moment are slightly different. Although it definitely is a joke on Kayden's end, he is enabling Kartein to do what he actually wants to do. After all, Kartein wouldn't heal the grandpa anyways if he didn't want to. Simple fact. But Kayden gives him an out, gives him an excuse to do kindness.

It's a weird understanding of Kartein's weakness in being unable to give kindness freely (Kayden even acknowledges Jiwoo as Kartein's excuse in 242). So Kayden helps him hack that impulse, allowing Kartein to frame the situation as a challenge to his prowess that must be dealt with, rather than Kartein actually wanting to help others. I don't think there's such a concrete example of Kayden helping with the relationship aspect, but Kayden doesn't particularly challenge it

— Five:

There's unfortunately a bit of a difference in those examples regarding willingness to help each other. However I can see a lot of hope for their development, particularly on Kartein's side, after the Astra battle in the 270s. Kayden absolutely proved himself to Kartein there and fought a Top Ten on Kartein's behalf. And Kayden followed solely on the suspicion that Kartein was doing something dangerous when he left Jiwoo's house. With that sort of proof that he is absolutely under Kayden's protection and within his inner circle, I think Kartein would be a lot more willing to help Kayden directly in the future (beyond the literal life and death healing moment in 273). Or at least with another flimsy cat shit excuse I guess

— Personal Rant:

I wanted to make a fic based on the insecurities I mentioned here but idk if I will ever muster the brainpower, so I ranted instead. Gosh, they could actually be so sweet on each other if they developed a bitttttt more in the trust direction and improved their communication. Like just imagine Kartein helping Kayden out in another basement equivalent scene and reassuring him. And Kayden much more obviously allowing Kartein to express his kindness, without judgment or expectation. They could actually be so soft on each other and I swear I will write more of what I think they could be if that happened (cough my soft fics are them doing just that). THEY ARE PAINFULLY SWEET, I WILL SHOW THE WORLD *shakes fist*

You were one of the best healers the awakened world had ever came to see. But... There was just two flaws. Just two.

That kept you. Held you down from becoming the best. From achieving the title of the greatest.

Well.. . Your healing touch.. . Came with a price. A condition.

A person.. Or just about any living being, had to be at death's door for your ability to work. They had to be in a state that the majority would refer to as fatal. They had to be tethering on the edges of life.

And who had to be the one to deliver that most of the time? You of course.

You see. People came to you for many reasons. And while their injuries might've been fatal.... Sometimes it isn't fatal enough and you had to make a few adjustments yourself.

Oh how laughably pathetic it was... Their expressions... When they thought that you had made enough "adjustments" for the ability to work.

Only for it all to flop. The more time passed by. The more the hope in their eyes seemed to wither away.

But eventually you always got the job done. Flawlessly even. Your ability being so powerful that it would even get rid of permanent scars.

Which one time got you in trouble as a client almost lashed out for it. Claiming that the scars were a show of their prowess and strength. Which you couldn't help but roll your eyes at.

But aside from all that... You also didn't have the ability to heal internal wounds..

These were the only things that kept you from being the greatest.

People preferred to not go through more pain. Even though yours required you less energy than Kartein's methods.

You were the second greatest.

Kartein being the nemesis that you once admired but cannot stand any longer.

But alas you worked for him. As a result having to see him around most oftenly.

Even as your blood boiled at the mere sight of him, you did nothing against him. Not uttering a single word.

You went along with Kartein to everywhere he went.

And this time. It wasn't any different. You had come to Korea. Following right behind him. Just like the right hand man you were.

You were almost about to offer your own treatments for the young boy's broken body when you stopped yourself.

Yes. You might've worked under him. But you didn't go out of your way to help him... You used to... But not anymore. And he, ever the independent and confident, never asked for it.

So you stepped back and refrained from any interference. Watching as he wasted his power and energy on the weak little boy.

You found the situation quite foolish. If he was going to continue being Kayden's disciple, why did Kayden not figure out a way to protect him? How does he except the boy to thrive and blossom if he's always exposed to the trampling beasts?

You only stood in the side lines. Letting you stare bore into them as you judged them all heavily.

Afterwards as Kartein turned into a malnourished and visibly neutered feline, you asked the golden question.

"Should I go and tell everyone that your now a cat that won't be coming to work? "

Which Kartein immediately shut down. As he seemed to be wanting to keep it a secret. But stated that for you to return back would be fine.

And so you went back to from where you had come. The headquarters feeling like home when you returned, despite you hating every inch of the place.

Kartein's absence was quite a thorn in your side. Without his presence all of the responsibilities fell onto your shoulders. Every mess he had created, every client he had declined, you had to deal with all.

It was hard when many saw you as less capable. As a lesser being.

Many demanded his presence. As if convincing the man himself was child's play.

Or maybe it was. Maybe that's why your superior got fooled by the Kayden so very often. But that's Kayden. Not you. Your thoughts mattered once in a blue moon.

And he seemed to be enjoying himself in Korea. Quite a bit.

You thought he had completely forgotten of all his responsibilities when you received an email.

But your shock instantly deflated.

Why? Well Kartein occasionally has a convenient habit of throwing clients your way when he doesn't feel like granting them the time of day.

And this time was no different.

The email was rather vague though. But it gave off the feeling that the client was an important figure.

Wanting to find out more, you booked a flight to Korea.

And when you arrived, you sure as hell were surprised.

Out of all the people you expected to be Kartein's client. You most definitely did not expect the 50th of the Awakened world Vator.

You thought the man would have some dignity. A slight bit of self respect.

But you were a fool to hope for it.

Oh how pathetic he seemed. So desperate. His words so persistent and repetitive.

At this point he might as well just fall onto his knees and beg.

No wonder Kartein had called you up despite how unlike him that is. This man was likely eating away at his brain.

He was pushy and even admitted that he had accepted Kartein as the most beautiful of all Awakeners.

How pathetic, you couldn't help but sneer. Did he seriously think that would get Kartein to heal him? Is he brain dead or what?

Did Kayden's lighting bolts kill off all the neurons in his head?

Kartein replied in suit as expected. But the glorious moment was getting on your nerves so you cleared your throat, announcing you presence.

"She must be here! "

Vator cheered like never before turning to face you. The moment he saw your face all the color and vibrance drained from his visage.

You only smiled widely in response. Masking your distaste.

Kartein seemed to visibly brighten at your arrival. Quickly yet gracefully standing up and whispering a "He's yours. " with a hint of hatred to you before stepping out of the room accompanied by Kayden.

You only nodded in response. Stare fixated on the cyan headed individual. Hastily grabbing onto his arms as he attempted to step out.

Yanking him back and throwing him onto the couch. He tumbled back and fell. Huffing and puffing. Looking up at you red faced.

It was truly so fun. So exciting. Vator was trashing around so desperately. Anything just to move out of the way of your blades.

His whimpers only feeding into your amusement.

Anything to stop the stinging sensation. He didn't know much about healing and injuring. But he sure as hell knew that holding and rubbing alcohol swabs against his wounds wouldn't put his life at risk.

He knew enough to know that twisting one's fingers weren't life threatening.

But he couldn't say much. He couldn't bring himself to show that he was afraid.

He was the world's 50th. He's faced off pain much much worse than this. This is nothing new. It won't hurt.

That's what he wanted to convince himself.

But his heart almost fell out of his rib cage the moment he witnessed the sight of you pulling out a bone saw.

Was he to lose limbs now?

.... This shouldn't be so scary... But.. But then why... Does his heart hammer so loudly... Why does his pupils shake... Why does he get dizzy at the sight of the large blade gleaming in the dim lighting?

He wanted to contain his pride. He really did.

But he couldn't help the hitching in his breath as you brought the saw lower and lower and lower.

The closer you brought it to his leg, the harder his heart pounded, the shakier his breathing got and the more dizzying it all got.

He was truly at how.

Your work, it was so flawlessly.

It's as if the scar never existed. As if his never got injured.

He was shocked, bewildered as not heal any injuries made by awakened ones, healers would have to use a lot of their own power as the energy of the attacker, if a powerful one, stays with the injury and affects the victim.

How... How did you do it?

But aside from that, he had another thought.

The small gentle little voice he heard, when you thought he was unconscious.

That gentle hand stroking his hair. Mumbling apologies.

That... That was you...

But why...

Weren't you laughing at his misery a few moments before?

Why... Where did this sympathy come from.. The remorse...

Were you not the way everyone knew you as?

Tati has not heard her ex yet. She is too busy having fun dancing to this very ridiculous song with her best friend, Gia.

He says her name again.

KAYDEN: Tatiana?

Tati stops in her tracks and turns to face the hallway when she hears her name.

TATI: Kayden...?

Gia thinks Tati is making a joke. Surely, he isn't here.

GIA: Haha, that's a funny jo-.

KAYDEN: We should talk.

TATI: Um, no. I have to pee now BYE

GIA: oh shit

Tati and Kayden take off in a sprint.

My wife was up early this morning, and off to a set up a booth and a bazaar held by the local Catholic church. She made a bunch of Teddy Bears and tote bags to sell. She really went all out with the Teddy bears, packaged in fancy plastic a real pro look. She used different fabrics, but I think the LSU (Louisiana State University) bears with sell like hotcakes. Though she told me the price that she is selling them for and I'm pretty sure that they cost her more to make than what she is asking, and that's not including her time. She also took a few quilts and a couple of my photos on stretched canvas. Sorry, I didn't take photos.
