A Ki-100 fighter plane from the 59th Army Squadron, seized by the occupying U.S. forces in 1945.
At the start of the war, this unit was the first to deploy the Type 1 Hayabusa fighter, and achieved great success along with the 63rd Sentai. After retreating to the mainland in 1944, it was reorganized into the Type 3 Fighter.
Due to a succession of malfunctions, the planes were converted to Type 5 fighters and their fighting power was conserved for the mainland battle.

Prologue: I Remember It
The sun was just setting as a red and black Kawasaki GPZ900R motorcycle pulled into the Hard Deck. The driver quickly dismounted and took off her helmet, shaking out her dark brown hair. She slipped a pair of Ray-Ban Aviators over her sage green eyes to block out the fading rays of light.
She draped her red leather jacket and helmet over the seat of her bike. No one around here would be stupid enough to mess with her things. After adjusting her clothes, she made her way across the sandy parking lot into the establishment.
Phoenix, Bob, Payback, Fanboy, and Coyote were gathered in a corner booth as they watched Hangman and Rooster duke it out in a game of pool.
It was a relatively quiet night at the Hard Deck.
Phoenix was busy telling the squad about her recent trip back home to see her new niece. She was just about to show the group some photos when the bell above the door chimed. Her eyes moved to see who the new patron was, and when she saw them, her jaw dropped.
"No way." She breathed out. "No fucking way." The group of men she was sitting with looked at her confused. Her eyes darted over to Rooster to see if he'd noticed who'd walked in. He was too focused on the game to pay attention.
Phoenix watched the woman head over to the bar and greet Penny and Maverick before getting a beer and turning to scan the crowd.
"Phoenix, do you know her?" Bob asks. "You guys don't?" She asks the group. "Should we?" Payback questions her. "Who is that?" Fanboy asks.
"Fellas, that right there is Y/N Benjamin-Mitchell, better known by her callsign, Hustler." Phoenix tells them.
"Benjamin- Mitchell? Like—" Coyote asks as he gestures to Maverick and Penny at the bar. "Yep." Phoenix replies, popping the "P."
"She's their oldest daughter. And she can fly circles around any pilot in the Navy, including Maverick." She tells them.
A voice yells out, "Bradshaw!" Everyone's head snaps up to see its the mysterious woman. She runs over to greet Rooster with a hug who looks dumbfounded to see her.
"She also the only woman Rooster has ever loved." Phoenix tells them. As all eyes turn to watch the seen before them
...........
"Hus? What are you doing here?" Rooster asks you as he pulls back from your hug.
"Dad pulled a few strings and got me a permanent duty station here. He wants the family to be close again." You tell him. "Plus, I couldn't pass up on the chance to be close to my favorite guy again, now could I?" You bat your eyes and give him a big smile.
"Don't give me that look Y/N." Rooster warns you. "What look?" You ask coyly. Rooster knows exactly what you're doing. It's a routine he's fallen for many times, but he's determined not to let it happen again.
He grabs his beer and takes a long sip before speaking.
"It always ends the same with us, Y/N. Let's not start this time." Rooster tells you before returning to his game.
Dumbfounded, you turn on your heels and head back to the bar. You can already tell you're going to need your mom to make you something strong.
You sigh as you sit down next to your father before a tequila-soda is placed in front of you. "Maybe it was a mistake coming here." You tell your father. "Y/N, give it time, Bradley wasn't exactly jumping for joy when he saw me either." Maverick tells you.
"I just can't believe after all these years, he's still holding a grudge over something I didn't do." You say. "And the fact that you've breezed in and out of his life so many times doesn't make the situation any better." Your mother tells you. You look up and meet her knowing eyes. "Believe me. As someone who's been in his shoes, getting their heart broken by a Mitchell, it's not something that you just get over. Especially when you have a knack for re-opening the wound right after they thought it had healed." She tells you as she wipes the counter.
You sink down in your chair. You know what she's saying is true. Your parents had been on and off for the first few years of your life before your mom eventually gave Maverick an ultimatum, stay, or leave for good. He chose to stay, and it worked out for them.
But they were different than you and Rooster. You didn't choose to leave him the first time. No, the first time he pushed you away, calling you a liar and a manipulator. Saying that you were no better than your father. He called you a hustler, screaming that you used him to further your career.
You tried to make him understand that it wasn't true. You can still feel the got tears that streamed down your cheeks when you begged him to believe you, but it was too late.
So, you decided to lean into his words. If he was going to call you a hustler, then that's who you'd become. And for the past eight years, that's who you've been. Hustling your way to the top, becoming the best of the best, breaking records, and breaking hearts along the way.
It was thrilling at first, but then you were stationed with Bradley for a few months in Virginia. The two of you found yourself enthralled with each other once again, ending up in a tangle of sheets and mixed emotions before you were reassigned. You'd left without telling him. A year or so later, the two of you spent a few weeks in Lemoore, only for it to end with you leaving him again.
Then last year, you were in South Korea. You spent six months with him, and then one night, as the two of you laid together, he confessed that he loved you. That you were the only woman he'd ever truly loved. Instead of saying it back, you quietly slipped out of his room that night as he slept and avoided him on base. Two days later, he was called back to Top Gun for that faithful uranium plant mission.
You never got the chance to tell him that you felt the same. You were too scared to admit.
And now, you were back, and he was here, and you wanted to make everything right. You just didn't know how.
......................
Over at the pool tables, Phoenix and the rest of the Daggers had joined Rooster and Hangman. Jake and Javy were currently playing a doubles game against Mickey and Reuben. She, Bob, and Rooster were standing against the wall.
"So—Hustler is back." Nat spoke. "She is." Bradley breathed out. "How's that make you feel?" She asked him.
"Angry—frustrated —nervous—like—" Rooster trailed off.
"Like you never stopped loving her?" Phoenix finished for him. Bradley shook his head before downing the rest of his beer. He throws the bottle away and excuses himself to the bathroom. Phoenix doesn't miss Rooster's lingering gaze towards the bar as he walks away
"Bob," Phoenix begins as she turns to her back seater. "I think I've seen this film before, and I didn't like the ending."
Okay, I was kicking this around in my brain. I'd appreciate some feedback on this prologue to know if this is a project worth pursuing!

Always Been You - Chapter 4
You let out a long sigh as you finally changes out of your scrubs. You weren't sure if your shift today was particularly slow or was it because you were still reeling about your encounter with one Bradley Bradshaw last night; wither way you were exhausted and just wanted your bed.
You grabbed your stuff and closed the locker behind you making your way to the hospital exit waving to your roommate Nicole as you passed who had just clocked in an hour ago to start her night shift.
Finally reaching your car you began the short but what felt like long drive home. What you weren't expecting was the Kawasaki parked in your drive. You smiled knowing that bike anywhere and suddenly you were a little less tired when you look towards your house and noticed your dad was on the porch with his back to you.
You got out of your car and walked up behind him, "Are you seriously changing the bulb in my porch light?" you ask him with a knowing smile.
He turned around with a serious face, "Well maybe if the previous bulb didn't look like it hadn't been there since the place was built I wouldn't have to" he tells me with a raised eyebrow and I just roll my eyes before walking up the steps and being engulfed in a large hug.
"I've missed you" he told me, I pulled back and looked at him, "Hey I've lived in the same place for the last four years unlike some of us" I countered causing him to chuckle.
"Okay okay, you win, I'm sorry"
I playfully nudged his arm as I walked past to unlock the door, "Don't worry about it dad" I tell him like always and I mean it. I'm reality, I'm not sure if it's because I didn't actually mind it or because I got used to it over the years being the daughter of a single parent who was also a naval aviator.
He followed me inside as I dropped my things by the couch and making my way over to the kitchen to grab us both drinks.
"Still living with Lisa?" He asks looking around to see if much has change. "Mm Hmm" I answer taking a gulp of water before passing him one, "For now anyway, she's hoping to move in with her girlfriend once she moves here permanently at the end of the summer" he nods and I lean against the kitchen island watching him suspiciously.
"So" I start causing him to look at me expectantly, "Does your visit have anything to do with why I ran into Bradley at the Hard Deck last night?" I ask him and I notice he freezes for a moment before sighing.
"I was hoping to give you a heads up before you ran into him but apparently I'm too late" he sighs, "You okay?"
I roll my eyes and smile at him, "I'm fine dad, it was years ago, left in the past" I told him but I could tell he didn't completely believe me.
"If you say so"
A beat passes before he coughs awkwardly, "So ho..how was it seeing Bradley?" he asks and I not entirely sure how to answer him so I just say "It was fine, kind of weird"
I compose myself before letting him know that "He's still pissed at you know know?"
"Yeah I know, he made it very obvious on Monday when he saw me for the first time"
I walk over to him and give his arm a reassuring squeeze, "Maybe this is what you both need" I say hoping to convince him. He smiles at me before chucking, "Honey, we know better than anyone the grudge that boy can hold" I let a sad smile grace my face, "Yeah, I know".
We spend the next while catching up before dad leaves to head back to base having an early start and I take the chance to relax for the evening trying to clear my mind of all things Bradshaw related which is easier said than done.

"Stick an aircraft engine in it" part 1 - Boeing Jetfoil
In the late 60s and early 70s, all branches of transport were hoping for an increase in performance similar to what the jet airliner brought to aviation, and the solution was invariably to use similar gas turbine technology, with invariably identical career trajectories when the oil crises hit, as, apart from in aviation, far more economical engine options were available. So I was very surprised to see this still active in Japan last summer:

This is a hydrofoil which uses gas turbines to power a pump-jet. Once it is going fast enough, it takes off and runs on foils, greatly reducing water resistance and achieving speeds up to 45 knots, over 80 km/h (which, on water, is very fast). I remember seeing exactly this type of vessel in ferry brochures when I was a child; Oostende Lines operated some between England and Belgium. The advent of the SeaCat, a class of huge Diesel-powered car-carrying catamarans, got the better of the hydrofoils and the hovercraft, which was incidentally another case of "stick an aircraft engine in it".

This specific class of hydrofoil takes the mantra to another level, as it was designed by Boeing, which named it the 929 Jetfoil. Production was licensed to Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan, which made boats for the domestic market. The Rainbow Jet is one of these, running between Sakaiminato on the San'in coast and the Oki Islands. I saw more of them at Atami in Eastern Shizuoka, providing transport to the Izu Islands. So, despite the astronomical 2150 L/h consumption (though to be fair, I can't find consumption numbers for equivalent foot passenger-only catamarans), Japan still runs them...

The KI-84 was designed to use high-quality 100-octane gasoline, but as foreign affairs worsened and it became difficult to obtain, the design was changed to use 91-octane gasoline with water-methanol injection to achieve the same effect as 100-octane gasoline.

RULES: Post the first paragraph of your last 10 fics posted to AO3. (Sort by date posted.) If you have less than 10 fics posted, post what you have.
(I edited the game a little to include the first paragraph instead of a single line)
Losing My Religion (Rooster/Maverick)
Bradley tossed his comic aside and rushed to the window at the familiar sound of a revving bike engine. Mav was seated on his Kawasaki, the thick bulk of his thighs spread wide around the leather seat. It was a muggy evening, but he had his favorite leather jacket on, his hair freshly gelled. Like he had a date.
Something Extra (CTCU Ray Ferrier/Jason Willette)
Ray slung his backpack off his shoulder and pulled out a bottle of potable water from one of the pockets. He could almost see the lake behind the treeline, knew he'd be home by nightfall if he maintained a brisk and steady pace.
Afterwards (CTCU Ray Ferrier/Jason Willette)
Jason moved the razor against Ray's jawline with meticulous care. He'd been on a two-week trading trip, and the hair on his face had grown thick. Most of the bristles were as dark as the hair on his head, but the noon sun revealed a few spots of gray on his chin, reminding Jason of the years that stretched between them. Jason had never even held a razor before the Invasion, but the nerves in Ray's dominant hand were permanently damaged from a piece of shrapnel, making anything that required careful precision a challenge.
Claimed (Rooster/Maverick)
“Another one?” Maverick sputtered.
“That’s right.” Harold gave the weekend edition of Buck Holler Herald in his hands an angry rustle. “It was two, this time, and they’re gettin’ closer to our fields." He spread the newspaper on the kitchen table and poked his finger against a black-and-white picture of a mutilated cow. "Won’t be long till it’s our cows that get gutted.”
Mav had barely climbed out of his coffin, but he could tell it was going to be a long night if the old man was this worked up before he’d had his evening blood.
Layers (Rooster/Maverick)
Bradley paced around the Ready Room, back and forth between the foosball table and a wall full of monochrome pictures. His fellow aviators had gone back to the barracks after the initial shock from the accident had settled, but Bradley didn't want company. He knew his temper was on a hair-trigger, and another scuffle with Hangman would send him packing.
Atonement (Rooster/Maverick)
Mav peeked into the kitchen, taking in the cozy scene of Bradley at the breakfast table and Carole in her yellow housecoat, flitting around with a cup of coffee in one hand and a box of cereal in the other. It felt a little surreal after months of Navy canteens and crowded mess halls, almost like he’d stepped into a Norman Rockwell painting.
Soothe (Rooster/Maverick)
The A/C was cranked to the highest setting, but the air in the car was pungent with teenage boy sweat and something much more intimate. A private thing that wasn’t meant for Mav’s nose. He did his best to breathe through his mouth, but it was almost worse because he could taste every fresh burst of slick as Bradley squirmed in the passenger seat, his hands clutched around the crotch of his baggy jeans.
Take These Broken Wings (Rooster/Maverick)
It was only day two of training for a mission Bradley wasn’t even going to fly, and things were spiraling out of control. Literally. He could still see the bottom of the canyon every time he closed his eyes, a frantic order to pull up, pull up! ringing in his ears over the chatter in the bar. It was so stupid. The most reckless thing he’d done since he’d wrapped his first car around a lamppost almost two decades ago. He'd spent years doing things by-the-book, conservative in the air, stable and reliable, a real team player. Until today. And he didn't even have the excuse of being drunk and high on shitty weed. But the same rage that had earned him a faceful of scars at eighteen now drove him to pull the kind of shit you'd expect to see from someone like Hangman.
Slow Ride (Johnny/Daniel)
“That’s it, you’re doing good, Johnny. So good.”
Johnny preened at the compliment, teetering on the edge of pleasure and a growing urge to pull his hands free where they were tied behind the back of the chair. Daniel was good at knots, but the obi around his wrists wasn’t too tight. He could slip away if he wanted to. He bit the soft inside of his cheek and continued to bear it, Daniel's hand on his dick an ebb and flow of too much and not enough.
Domestica (Rooster/Maverick)
Bradley wiped his palm across the fogged up mirror and leaned in to study his reflection. The scarring from the mission last year had faded, but he couldn't really see a difference between thirty-five and thirty-six. Maybe a couple of extra pounds on his cheeks, but his time on shore was almost up and he was going to enjoy his beer and burgers while he could.
I tag any and all of my writer followers who want to do this!

Seeing Green: A Hi-Vis ’74 Rickman CR900 Selling at Mecum
An old saying in aviation says ‘If it looks right, it flies right,’ summarizing the idea that the most ideal mechanical designs are often the most visually pleasing. While beauty is decidedly in the eye of the beholder, there’s no debating the Rickman brothers’ performance chops, and not a single item out-of-place on this exceptional 1974 Rickman Kawasaki CR900. In viewing Lot F171 of Mecum’s…

Plane Strafes Motorcyclists in PA! They escape with their lives to the Ace Café Well... ...the ride was also sensational. An unseasonably warm fall day was taken advantage of by we three intrepid riders: Turbosteve (Kawasaki W800 Cafe); Hot Dog Donna (CanAm Spyder); and Prince Albert on a Pan (Honda ST1100). By now it's no secret that the counties of Morris and Hunterdon in NJ and Bucks in PA hold an unusual spell over me when it comes to places to ride through (and places to stop and smell the horse manure and aviation fuel).
