Never mind his shock at suddenly being hoisted off the ground without warning, the usually composed court musician could only blink in bewilderment when his world suddenly changed on him. Yes, those were most certainly his knees at eye level he was seeing. Yes, he most certainly did not have his feet down where they belonged. Yes, he most certainly felt a strong pair of arms confidently carrying him like he weighed nothing, while his own immediately braced themselves around their owner’s neck and shoulders for support.

Had it been a man, at most he might draw out a laugh and make some sort of quip at his own expense. At most.

But that it had been Charlotte doing so turned him outright silent and meek, which was... new to Forwin, catching him by complete surprise! Did he feel himself shrink a little in the safety and comfort of her deceptively lithe arms? Maybe. Had his heart turned its comfortable thrumming up into a powerful beat within his ears? Perhaps.

Did he kneejerk hide his face into his gloves when he felt embarrassment burn his face up more and more?

Yes.

Yes he did.

And Forwin quickly realized he couldn’t find it in himself to complain about any of this-

Watch out Hibiki - Futaba may have snuck hot chilli sauce into your coffee when you weren't looking

   futaba’s done something to your coffee. you don’t even need to look at her ( probably expectant ) expression to know this; the moment you’d gotten up to use the washroom and left it unattended, futaba was going to pounce– and if she didn’t get your coffee, she’d get you some other way. 

   you’re admittedly a little disappointed that she’d stoop to sabotaging your life support drink of choice, though. one would think a phantom thief – and shut-in neet with the entire internet at her disposal – would do better. be more creative. she’d had all day to set something up while you were at school… 

   nonetheless, you sit down. pick up your cup. look the girl right in the eye, and down the cursed liquid. and yep– it’s as you expected. the coffee’s been tainted. it takes all of your willpower not to grimace as you swallow it down. it’s not nearly spicy enough to bother you, but god does chili sauce and coffee mix poorly… you’re going to have to wash this down with another cup afterwards.

“hey, this actually came out pretty well. i wasn’t sure about this blend in particular, but i think i like it. wanna try, futaba? i’ll let you have a sip, if you want.”

Olberic’s eyes narrow with a sigh. It would seem the arrow Cyrus had taken from the sea birdian would be more trouble than Olberic had thought.

“ You were knocked over just now, Cyrus. That’s what I mean. ”

With a single, wide swing, Olberic manages to stagger most of the flock that surrounds them. It likely won’t buy him enough time to dig out a herb of clarity for the professor, however.

“ Ah-- One question, ” he speaks through gritted teeth as he wards off amn eagerly swooping birdian. “ How disorientated would you say you feel? ”

If it wasn’t by much, perhaps Olberic could simply protect Cyrus and wait the condition out.
