School Diary: Design Studio 3 Finals
My finals for Design Studio 3 last semester. This is luxury wear inspired by Fashion Intimates
To complete the look i made a purse/bag from scratch. Decided to use rubber place mats that is usually used in the kitchen and in the bathroom. A play on the mix of fabric was done by pairing the unconventional material with leather trimmings.

My Holy Grail Foundations
When it comes to makeup, i think foundations constitute about 60% of my entire collection. I have been collecting for about 4 years now and so i have tried quite a lot from different brands. Both high-end and drugstore, Good ones and bad ones.
Pretend you're about to paint. Your face is your canvass. A good base leads to a good makeup look.
throughout my 4 years of trying different ones, i think i have finally found what i could consider--- my holy-grail foundations. I was gonna do a Top 5 list, but i only have 4 that i consider really amazing and worth the money. Today i'm gonna be sharing it with you all!
These 4 fall on the high-end category. They're quite pricey, but i believe its true that in makeup, you get what you pay for. Usually, They are priced that way for good reasons.
1. Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation - judging from the name itself, when applied to the skin, it feels really smooth (silk-like). Coverage is medium-full. It stays on for hours! This is available locally in Rustans.
2. Chanel Vita Lumier Aqua Foundation - this one i like to wear when i have pretty good skin to begin with already OR if i'm just feeling a bit fancy. It's a mousse like product and transfers beautifully on the skin. The coverage is light to medium---BUT IT"S AMAZING! You've got to try it. I recommended it to my friend Issa when she asked me about it and NOW it has become her favorite too!
Now i got mine when i was in Singapore but my friend got hers from Shangri-La so it's available locally as well!
3. M.A.C. Pro Longwear Foundation - Now this one is my go to foundation when i've got events to attend to, where i need the look to stay from day to night. From the name itself, this one from M.A.C. really is a long wearing foundation. The only thing that i'm not very fond of with this is that, since it is a full coverage foundation it tends to feel heavy on the skin. That's why i don't use it all the time cause i like using light coverage foundations on a daily basis.
But if that doesn't bother you, then i totally recommend it! This is available locally on all M.A.C. Counters. I'm not sure about the price now, but when i got mine it was around 1700php.
4. And last but certainly not the least, (judging from the photo i'm almost out of it! hahaha) the BENEFIT Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Foundation. Well That's a mouthful.
This is by far my very first foundation that i'm running out of. I love it so so much that i just use it a ton. It gives a demi matte, slightly dewy look when applied to the skin.
I haven't' repurchased a full size as i still got one of the baby ones. ughhh look at that miniature bottle. too cute! hihi This is locally available in all Benefit Counters in the Philippines. Got mine for 1900php.
AND THAT IS IT! That comprises my holy grail foundations! But always remember that good skin is still the secret to a good look. Use Makeup to enhance it---NOT COVER IT.

#DIYwithKat : Necklace Organizer
DIY time! You know that feeling when you wanna wear a necklace or a bracelet and it's all tangled up with the rest of your accessories? This scenario happens to me all the time.
So i've looked through Pinterest, tumblr, basically all over the internet for inspiration on how to solve this thing. I know there are tons of acrylic organizer in the market right now but they're quite expensive tbh. That's why i always love diy projects. It's cheaper and you could make it your own and design it however you want it to be.
Today i will be teaching you how you can make your very own Necklace Organizer. It will be step by step so don't worry!
1. Pick your Base, I've had this huge cork board in my room that i don't ever use really so i thought instead of throwing it away, might as well use it for something else. An alternative that you can use if you don't have this would be a picture frame and a foam board.
2. I wanted mine to be striped so i started to put masking tape every 3 inches alternately.
3. Once that's done you're ready to paint! I used this paint from DAVIES which was actually perfect since i was working inside the house and this doesn't give that foul paint odor unlike the other brands.
P.S. make sure you lay out some newspaper or whatever to protect your floor from getting paint on it.
I had to paint mine about 2-3 coats for it to be really opaque. After that, i let it dry for about an hour to be sure before moving on with the next step.
4. Once it has fully dried, i took off the tape from the board. And as you can see if you're also gonna go for a stripe pattern the tape will guide you what to paint and what not to paint.
If you've done it right so far, your project should look something like this .
Now you could leave it like this, and get on with it. But i wanted mine to be a combination of mint and white so it'll go with the color scheme of my room so...
I covered the edges of the mint green so the paint won't splatter on that part and very carefully painted the rest with white. Now you can fully cover the mint part with the masking tape again (like we did before) but i got lazy so i only covered the edges. Hehee
5. Once that's dried, your base is complete!
6. Now on to the fun part! This would totally depend on your preference. Basically choose where your necklaces would hang! I decided to use drawer knobs that i purchased from Ace Hardware on mine.
I like that it goes well with the design i was going for.
So what i'm doing here is planning out where i want them to go. I did measure the distance between each knobs to look nice and proportioned.
7. Now this next steps depends on the type of knob or hook you're gonna use. Mine had a screw, so what i did was to punch a hole on the cork board using the screw itself, take it out once the hole is done, screw it again on the back towards the front and screw it together with the knob. Quite confusing describing it in words but you'll get it for sure.
This is what mine looked like after putting all my knobs in.
Uh-Oh. Now i encountered a problem as i closely looked into it. Apparently the screws were a bit too long for my cork board. Thus, the knobs hang loose and it's not very appealing to my eyes. I also worry that if i'll hang heavy accessories into it, it might damage the cork board and ruin the whole thing.
8. Operation superglue! This was the only solution i could think of and GLAD IT ACTUALLY WORKED! HAHA So i basically glued the bottom of the knobs into the cork board directly and it stayed put since then.
Success! Here i finally tried if it's going to hold up even if i put heavy necklaces on!
TADAAA! Here's the finished look of my DIY necklace holder!
Also, very quickly showing you all this beautiful box that used to contain bath stuff. I also painted mint green to go with the look that i was going for in my room basically.
If you loved this DIY project and want to see more, keep following this blog if you are already. If not, just click the button on the upper right corner to stay updated.
Really excited for the next coming weeks because i have tons of DIY projects coming up! I love arts and craft in general so diy projects are right up my alley!
P.S. I wanna take this opportunity to thank everyone who's constantly been reading my blog. It's surreal that what used to be a personal diary for me is slowly starting to get out there and starting to inspire more people to travel and love ART and fashion. Thank you so much for the kind words and support. I promise to put more and more unique content up here in the future! Have a nice day!

Dreams (Fleetwood Mac) Cover by Katrine Salvador
I've always wondered what it feels like to record a song on professional studios. Still clueless what all those buttons are for. Maybe one day i'll try it. For now, garageband is my home studio.
I honestly haven't played the guitar for more than a year but it suddenly called me out a while ago as i was staring blankly at the living room. I was happy to be able to play…and sing again. My fingers do hurt at the moment. Well it's been a long time like i said. haha Anyway Here's a clip of me singing Dreams by Fleetwood Mac. Which is an old song i know but i just really like what the song is about. Enjoy.

Top 13 things that f*cking happened in 2013
If you ask me right now on things that happened this past year, to be honest, i am struggling to remember bits and pieces of it. So i went back on memory lane on my iPhoto and looked at how my year went. Here are the top 13 memorable events of my 2013.
1. That crazy night of January
Taft has always been the a fun place to hangout for me. And it still is, something about the people here just makes you wanna have fun and forget about everything. Well, Most of my YOLO nights happened here. hahahaha Spending it here was definitely a great way to kick-off 2013.
2. My Birthday
That night we've finally coined our group name. HAHAHA and lived up what it means. I love these people to bits and even though everyone's so busy spending their nights in front of their medical books right now, the friendship we shared will forever remain.
3. That random night we blessed Cyril's condo with our awesomeness
I can't help but just laugh whenever this night comes to mind. I guess these people will agree as well. hahaha
4. THESIS SHIT IS DONE. f*cking done.
Passing the thesis after all the struggle the professor made us experience was the greatest part of it all. Those days were probably the biggest struggle of my college life. Can't believe we f*cking made it. Hi thesis-mates!!!
5. OH HEY, It's Graduation!!!!
After 4 years of sleepless nights, it's finally over!!!! I am a graduate. I've never really liked my course, like NEVER, but i'm proud to say i never failed any subjects. So if i can do it, you can to.
6. Trip to THAILAND
Well I got to travel every bit of Bangkok on my parents' wedding anniversary. And realized how amazing Thailand is for shopping, that i was able to sneak a good deal on an instax mini 8!!!
PLUS i met Brad Pitt okay? HAHAHAHAA
And become bff's with Obama. can it get any better? hahaha
7. Summer Getaway All the way to Ilocos
Probably the best summer EVER. I've been to Ilocos many many times but this has to be the best trip so far.
8. A New Journey Begins
This came in the mail and i can't help but smile when i got it!
One semester down, and i'm proud to say i'm finally where i'm suppose to be.
9. I moved in!
I finally have my own space in Makati. I love it here. I decorated everything myself and i've made it as personal as it can be. I like to call it "my little hideout".
10. I can finally draw a human's face. LIKE SERIOUSLY, they finally look like a normal human being now. HAHAHAHHAA
This was a personal achievement for me this year, since if you know me personally, my drawings always lacks one thing. FACE. It was always just a blank face so i'm really REALLY happy i could finally do a decent one!
and of course, THIS.
11. My very first Philippine Fashion Week
Can't wait for more!!
12. Trip to Singapore
Probably my favorite country so far. The place is just too beautiful to put into words. Can't wait to go back!
12. Meeting new friends
But STILL , never forgetting the BEST!!!!
This has got to be my most personal blogpost EVER. And i'm glad i did it. Because without it, i wouldn't realize how awesome this past year was. Like bloody hell, f*cking Cheers to 2013!!! hahahaha

OOTD: Whoopsy Daisies
I looked like a human being today and so i decided to put up an OOTD post.
been wanting to wear this daisy pattern dress ever since i got it from Singapore last October but i haven't' found a day to wear it. Ironic, Today wasn't special at all. I decided to wear it anyway.
I paired with this crochet cardigan from Cotton On because it gets pretty cold in SoFA. Finished off the look with these brown leather sandals from Forever21. This would have looked way better with a pair of good heels but MEH, heels are so not me.

Travel Diaries: Breakfast at Arab Street
Bright and Sunny Day ahead on our third day at Singapore. We started our morning by having a breakfast at Kampong Glam Cafe located at Arab Street.
Not all of the locals knows how to speak english but don't worry they're really nice people. They try their best to understand you and help you with anything. Plus their menu has photos so you can basically just point what you want to order :)
The owner recommended this dish called Nasi Lemak for breakfast. It comes with a Lime Juice. Basically the taste would be very familiar to your tongue. Besides the rice, it taste like our normal fried chicken and fried fish. Their rice though taste a bit different than usual. The owner told us they combine coconut with their rice. So somehow it reminded me of rice cakes. It's sweeter. But i actually liked it. See i told you they're nice! They would love to share their culture to you :)
After breakfast we then headed to one of the Bus Stops to wait for the tourist bus. I will never get tired of walking around Singapore. It's too clean to be true hahaha
While waiting for the bus we entertained ourselves by looking at the cars passing by. Mercedes Benz and Chrysler 300C for a taxi? #onlyinsingapore
The tourist bus i was talking about is this. It's called the Duck Hippo.
Basically It stops at the famous tourist spots all over Singapore and you can hop on, hop off anytime within 24 hours. You can avail this in the counters on most malls (we got ours at VivoCity, but i also spotted a counter at Suntec City and Singapore Flyer)
and most probably on the airport as well. It goes 33$ per adult. and 20 something for children!
It may seem quite expensive for a bus ride for a day but trust me, it's worth it. You get to see the sites in a whole different perspective and you get to tour the whole singapore in a day. Plus, it's pretty cool riding a double decker bus as well! Just like in the UK!
Here are some my shots while we were at the bus :) One thing is for sure, ART is everywhere in singapore. Even the buildings are a masterpiece.
And Finally, the famous Art schools in Singapore! it's love at first sight.

Travel Diaries: Universal Studios Singapore
If you ask what became my favorite place in Singapore is, i'd say in a heartbeat---Universal Studios. And yes, i went with with mom and dad. My parents are cool like that yo.
to know more about what i wore here back read here http://katrinetriestoblog.tumblr.com/post/65124029518/ootd-universal-studios
We visited last October and since November was fast approaching, Universal Studios theme was : Halloween Horror Nights!!!
To get to Universal Studios via train:
1. Ride the MRT and get down at Vivo City station.
(Vivo City is a pretty big shopping mall, there are tons of food outlets here as well; It's definitely going to be cheaper eating here compared inside)
2. Ride the Sentosa Express located at the 3rd floor of Vivo City.
( Roundtrip ticket would cost you S$4.00 )
Everything was so clean and well maintained! Singapore really does live to what they're known for. Even this mirror i took a selfie on is spot on-CLEAN.
Spotted a really cool mom of two kids! She reminded me a lot of Pink!
Mom and Dad are so cute hahahahaha
Childhood feels!!!!!! hihihihi
I swear this ride was so childish. BUT you definitely should try it!!!! A trip with elmo to the universe to save the freaking meatballs?? i'd do it over and over again :)))
Before you leave Universal Studios, definitely visit the Chocolate World in Sentosa! You can definitely spot some really great deals on chocolate goodness here!!!
I hope you guys enjoyed that and now i only have one thing to say to you guys…

OOTD: Out of Focus
Today i wore one of my creations. This was one of my homeworks for Entrep Class. I've always liked Kimonos and when i saw this floral fabric at the Fabric Warehouse i knew it was perfect for it.
the stitchings aren't perfect but it works out so whatever hahaha.
What I'm Wearing: White Cami from the Dept Store; Kimono Top by Katrine Salvador; Half Floral Half Denim Shorts are from Bangkok; Brown Wedges are from Parisian
Almost all of my subjects has announced the final projects and i seriously have no idea where to begin. Each subject has more than one final project. And each one is equally challenging. The next days and weeks are going to be hectic and probably crazy but i'll try and keep up with the blogging still. Wish me luck!

School Diary: Let's play Barbie
Last Thursday, i helped out on my friends' project. They had to do a photoshoot and i helped by doing Rhea's makeup. For the shoot, i had to give her a natural look.
I'm no pro when it comes to doing makeup, but i do it on other people every once in a while. For fun. Rhea's features were great so i decided to just play around and enhance it. I gave her a full brow look to frame her face.
I started of by using the Makeup Forever HD foundation which is perfect for photos. Since i was going for the natural look, i decided to use the Naked 2 palette and play around the colors: Foxy, chopper and tease; Rhea had pretty long lashes and after using the Benefit they're real mascara, it looked even longer and fuller.
For the cheeks i used the NAKED flushed palette. To finish of the look, i used MAC's lipstick in the color faux. What do you guys think?
Who says you can't wear makeup and still look natural? Makeup was made to enhance features, not hide it. Remember that. chos! Here's a closer look!
I brought my camera that day too and you guys know how much i love taking beauty shots of other people. Here are some of my shots that day!!!! Shall we?
We then headed to Ayala triangle after hair and makeup.
On with the shoot, i decided to take a few snapshots too!!!. AAAAH photography will forever be the love of my life.
First Up is Essa! This cotton candy hue on this garment is L O V E. And the fact that they actually did idk spray painted this? i'm not really sure but i have to give them props for that. It is so pretty! HAHAHHA
The rest of the garments were also designed by them. Here are the rest of my shots from the shoot!
On Ana:
And of course on my model hahahaha Rhea:
HEHEE Did you guys like that? It was a fun shoot!!!! We ate at Bonchon after the shoot cause we were starving. I like photoshoots like this. Photoshoots that doesn't feel like photoshoots. It's just like a bunch of people having fun together. Till next time guys :)
Outfit post on what wearing soon!

School Diary: 13 Days Collage Challenge
I didn't have much to work with, i was mostly indoors that week so most of the things i had was from the condo. I didn't want the collage to look like crap so i decided to paste it all together in one day and make it look like ma-icollage lang but rather make it look coherent, like a 3D artwork.
Here are the list of things that's in this artpiece. Let's play spot where i am shall we? hahaha!
1. scented candles
2. Fake roses
3. berries
4. Fake Lavender
5. Post-it notes
6. Surgical Gloves
7. Lace #1
8. Lace #2
9. Brown Paper bag (painted gold)
10. Mini Forks
11. Leaves
12. Snowflakes
13. Ice Cube Trays
And lastly, Gold Chain as my interpretation to the pork barrel issue. It's funny even politics played a part in this one. We also designed 2 shirts over that weekend as homework too which i will be blogging about soon!
The homework doesn't end there, from all the 14 items in total, we had to incorporate everything in one design. Here's what i came up with. No more, no less. It was a fun homework over all, just takes a lot of your time you know.

School Diary: Paper Doll
For History Class, we had to make a gown for a paper doll inspired by either Baroque or Rococo Period. I liked the silhouette from the Rococo better so i based the design from their costumes.
Instead of doing the usual paper doll made out of paper... i decided to actually use fabric. Because i wanted to show that their garments had 3 layers, it would be kind of harder to interpret that with just paper. I had no idea it's gonna be quite tricky sewing a garment this small. I originally thought it would be easier since it's really small and it will take less time to make. BUT, hell no. The fact that it's smaller, actually makes it much harder. I handstitched the fabric instead of running it in the machine because i was afraid i might ruin it. It took me about 3-4 hours to finish it and i'm really happy how it turned out.
I present to you, my very first haute couture. CHOS!

School Diary: Art Exhibits
Last Thursday, i went to 2 art exhibits in Makati. It was the I love Kusama exhibit at Ayala Museum and the Art Wearable at Yuchengco Museum.
We had to do this for our Trends Class Project. I had mixed emotions about it because this past week i had to focus all my time on studying for the board exam and giving away few hours for this 2 exhibits didn't sound appealing to my ears. But after actually here, i'm glad i did.
Sadly, camera's were not allowed in the I love Kusama exhibit :( If you guys are not familiar with the person named Yayoi Kusama, there's this thing called Google. Her style of Art is not exactly my style. It's a little bit too weird for me but it's her ART and seeing how much work she has put into every piece is something worth our attentions.
Our next stop was the exhibit at the Yuchengco Museum at RCBC plaza. What actually caught my eye was the work of Botong Francisco. There's just stones but it's such a beauty.
I went there with my friend Aya and i swear we were laughing 75% of the time that we were there. We had our personal favorites at the Kusama exhibit and we still laugh everytime we talk about it. My friend Iza was there too!
This was probably my favorite from the Art Wearable Exhibit and i swear this photo does no justice to how beautiful it was!!!!
I think that all the designers exerted effort on their craft and no doubt all their hardworks had paid off. I think the exhibit is still open for few more days so go visit while you still can!
