Here's my art piece for @call-me-rucy's story Layton vs. Layton, as part of the Professor Layton Big Bang 2024 over at @proflaytonbigbang!

I wanted to make this drawing like one of the scenes you'd find in the end credits c:

Would Flora and Alfendi bicker over who they believe Kat should date?

Flora is Team Ernest - she relates to him as she, too, lost her parents to illness when she was young, and she was at the centre of a mystery surrounding her wealthy family. She sees how much Ernest supports Kat as her assistant and her friend. He would never abandon Kat... Yes, this loyalty could be found in FRIENDSHIP alone, but if Kat has to date someone, Flora would much rather it be Ernest than... Emiliana Perfetti. Flora doesn't dislike Emiiana personally - she's a perfectly respectable woman - but Flora isn't a fan of the police after how poorly they've handled the Professor's disappearance. Or how some members of Scotland Yard have tried to pin their crimes in the Layton family. Also, Emiliana constantly clashes with Kat, and she's much quicker to point out Kat's flaw than Ernest. Kat needs someone who will listen to her and hype her up, not someone who will tear her down... At least, in Flora's opinion!

Alfendi is Team Emiliana. To start, Emiliana hasn't worked at Scotland Yard for many years and she wasn't there during the Forbodium Incident. She has never said a bad word against Alfendi. Their paths rarely cross but they hold a distant respect for each other. Alfendi knows what a brilliant profiler Emiliana is and he feels she is the perfect counter-balance for Kay's instinct. Kat needs someone who will call her out for her ego, her recklessness and her mistakes - not a lapdog who worships the ground she walks on. Also, Emiliana is a little bit older than Kat and would bring maturity to the relationship. Also, Miles Richmond is a two-headed snake who should be behind bars. He betrayed Kat 's trust once and he could do it again...

Luke turns up late to the party but he is Team Lucy. He sees a lot of himself in Lucy - from their roles as Layton's cheerful assistant with a big appetite and a colourful cap... Flora and Al tell Luke to BUTT OUT of Kat's love life because he's been AWOL for the last eleven years

Layton, meanwhile, quietly smiles at their squabbling, because he suspects Kat is aroace.... Not that that's any of his business!

Mystery Journey Jeudi! Have a doodle comic! (Ft. Lucy!)

(If I have time today, I'll make something a bit more Halloween-y.)

I regularly lose my mind over the fact that their relationship would be pretty undefined outside of Ernest deciding to be her assistant. I also think it would get more fuzzy than that over time as they get to know and care about each other more. Especially since neither of them would just bring it up normally.

(This also applies to Sherl, but this comic isn't about him)

Also, Ernest and Emiliana friendship is amazing. It took me a bit to get her expression in character while not looking genuinely annoyed.

And the page's quote makes the comic funnier, I think:

The Professor's reappearance is made public

Did my own version of how Alfendi would learn that his father returned: Explained under the cut

Basically Barton got called by Hershel personally since he couldn't reach Alfendi at the time to check up on him since it had been 11 years

This is where it goes into where Alfendi and Lucy appear in Katrielle's Anime visiting the Detective agency since him reappearing has not been made public yet, Lucy persuaded him to go and talk to Hershel.

Hershel did not want the public flocking to him before he got to speak and spend time with his own children (Flora included)

After he had spoken to all three he was fine with the press knowing unbeknownst to him the press would begin to bug his kids minus Flora she left London shortly after speaking with Professor Layton.

Katrielle was more than happy to speak to the press, Alfendi on the other hand hates the press and is warned by one of the officers that they crowded the front of Scotland Yard and that they might want to use a back exit to leave.

The reason they are dressed up is because they just went out to eat to celebrate Justin's arrest and final court session.
