ARROW STAR KATIE CASSIDY KICK BOXING TRAINING ON AN ISLAND
Katie Cassidy is pretty tough. She works her ass off and really is dedicated to playing her characters on Arrow. She really wants to make her stunts are real as possible but sometimes she isn't allowed to for insurance reasons. She should not be faulted for that. She really is a professional.

“Katie Cassidy sucks as black canary and black siren! She doesn’t even look the part!”
DC comics artist Otto Schmidt disagrees.

It’s so strange that there are still people who think like:
Yeah, Katie was never able to capture Laurel.
Katie is such a bad actress.
You know what, no one in the world would be able to perform as Laurel because she’s a shitty character with shitty writing.
Tumblr media
Katie Cassidy is the only one on the show to win an award for her acting, a PRISM Award, for her portrayal of Laurel Lance, during her addiction storyline.
This is a direct quote, from the site, on what the PRISM Award is:
The PRISM Awards encourage creators to make the most of their rights to free creative expression, while at the same time showing the reality of these health issues. As a part of the industry, EIC never wants to inhibit the creative process; however, we take pride in being the first to applaud creators who use their power and influence over their audiences wisely and responsibly, informing them while at the same time entertaining them. This is what we refer to as “the art of making a difference”.
Tumblr media
Katie Cassidy did an amazing job performing the alcohol and drug addiction storyline, and showed the real effects of those issues using her platform, as a way to show others, the world, what drugs and alcohol addiction and depression looks like, responsibly and wisely.
The acting consists of so many things, they way you speak, look, dress, and the tremors you feel when you’re desperate for that sip, the drug, and the uncontrollable anger you have in your voice - Katie did it all. It was never the writing. Does it help? Yes, of course a good script would be helpful.
But, it requires absolute talent to perform with a script or storyline that the PRISM Awards didn’t think was wise enough, responsible enough, or done properly enough to warrant an award for. They nominated themselves and did not win, whereas Katie did for her performance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Laurel Lance, thanks to the amazing acting of Katie Cassidy, is an amazing character who shows consistent growth.
All throughout the show, we see Katie Cassidy going above and beyond when it comes to portraying Laurel, a lot of Laurel’s personality is really shown through the way she delivers lines, moves, and reacts to others around her. We notice that in the way her eyes dart around the room, her fingers tremble, and how she pulls people in for hugs - none of those things are said.
Katie even goes the extra mile of talking to her co-stars, about what type of relationship they should exhibit on-screen, when it comes to their characters. There’s is so much attention in the little details that Katie fine-combs her character to speak without words, and builds a lot of the relationship off-screen with her co-stars. It is absolutely amazing how much work she has put into this character.
There are even more times where Katie stands up for her character, and forces the writers to change lines or add lines to reflect her character. Of course, Stephen Amell does the same as well, at least he used to, when it came to his own character and storylines. It’s these changes that allows Laurel to grow as a character, not depend on a love interest, and to remain true to her core values, as a character.
And even now, we’ve come to a strange cross-road of who is our Laurel.
Our hearts broke the moment we lost her, our Laurel, to fan-service for a ship - her death was used to prop up a ship that called for her unfair death. But, thankfully, due to popular demand, Katie Cassidy has returned to some-what reprise her role. The Flash Writers and Producers had Katie come onto their show to guest star as Laurel Lance’s E2 doppelgänger, Black Siren, who we still have yet to see her backstory or proper interactions with anyone outside of Quentin.
Despite this, Katie Cassidy has delivered to us six different, amazing versions of Laurel, that we can differentiate:
Flashback Laurel: A young, chipper, and naïve Laurel who is completely lovestruck by Oliver Queen.
Addiction and Depression Laurel: An older Laurel, who’s hurting from everything the world has thrown at her.
Black Canary Laurel: A wiser Laurel, who’s learned to embrace all the bad things that come her way as a hero, with the belief that it’s a chance to be better and stronger, to protect all those she loves.
Black Siren Laurel: A Laurel from another Earth, who’s learned to embrace all the bad things that come her way as a villain, with the belief that she has to watch out for herself.
Alien Stasis Laurel: A Laurel that fits into the scheme of the Aliens, wanting Oliver to stay, she is timid and full of love and forgiveness.
Hallucination Laurel: A Laurel that keeps Oliver sane (omfg, I’m getting FitsSimmons feels) and reaches out to him, keeping him alive and heroic.
And currently, she is doing an amazing job at showing us just how much of our Laurel is in Siren. By watching Katie meticulously, her eyes opening, her lips parting, and the way her eyes linger - when her shoulders tense and when they drop. There are so many ways that Katie is telling us, Siren isn’t our Laurel but she is Laurel, and I can’t wait to have our Laurel back.
TLDR: Shut up, Katie Cassidy is amazing and so is Laurel, Hater.

I don't understand why people say "Katie Cassidy is only an actress because she has a famous father!". Besides being obvious she's at the very least a decent actress, the only one I know with this surname is Katie herself(maybe it's because I'm not from the US and I'm on my early 20 ' s). So,it doesn't matter how famous her relatives were in the past, people don't remember them now.
people who spew that kind of crap are just people trying to downplay her talent because they're jealous or somehow threatened by her so they need to believe that she was handed her success to make themselves feel better. the truth is, the cassidy name does mean something (though more so in the music world) but it doesn't hold nearly as much weight as these people think it does.

Ways to bring Laurel Back
1 Pull her body right before the time she dies. 2 Pull her freshly dead body from the hospital and let the wave rider revive her 3 Find her dead body and take her to another Lazarus pit or the one Nyssa destroyed before it was destroyed 4 draw out Laurel’s soul spirit and conscience and put it in Black Siren 5 Flash Point Paradox 6 She Should never have been killed off 7 these writers are inconsistent dumb shits who contradict themselves. If Stien can keep his time aberration of a daughter and other characters be brought back over and over then there is no reason Laurel can’t be brought back.

Arrow didn't deserve Laurel
Whether you loved her character off the bat, or took a few seasons to get to know her, you can't deny that Dinah Laurel Lance drove the story of Arrow in a way no other character, including Oliver, could.
In S1E1, we see the first person he wants to see, the first thing he wants to do when given the choice to do whatever, is to go to Laurel and beg for her forgiveness. He isn't even ready to talk about the traumatizing experiences, all he wants to do is apologize to the person who he stole everything from. Her love, her sister, and with it 5 years, as we later discover that Laurel spent a ridiculous amount of time either studying or pulling her father out of a bar.
Tumblr media
”For all we know, Oliver could be dead and Sara certainly is, but there are people that are still alive. People who need us.” - Dinah Laurel Lance
A major plot point in S1 revolved around one question. “What happened to you on that island”. He wasn't comfortable talking about it with diggle, his new partner. Not with his best friend, nor his sister, or with his mother. There have only been a few times where he spoke about it willingly. One being under oath at the courtroom, one while under a polygraph while under arrest, and the final time, being completely of his own free will, when he showed up on Laurel's door, saying “I need to talk about what happened, can it be you?”
Laurel was literally what drove him on the island. Let's not forget how both Yao Fei and Slade told him he stares at the picture too much, and if he continues he will die.
Tumblr media
“I know that it probably sounds insane. It probably is, but Sara, she gave me this and when I wear it, it makes me want to help people like she did. Like she's alive again.” - Dinah Laurel Lance
In S2 she had a tragic storyline. First she had to prosecute Oliver's mom, then had to deal with severe depression and substance abuse. I don't even think I need to remind people that she got an award for her performance at this part. Her struggles is what allowed them to bring Sara in as The Canary, and begin to introduce the tragedy that was shado's death on the island and how traumatic it was for Oliver. All of this built up Slade Wilson, who may very well be the best villain arrow has ever had.
S3 wasn't her best season, and that's purely the writer's fault. They didn't transition her into the Black Canary well enough, and then gave her a terrible arc where for about 9 episodes she lied to her father about the fact that her sister was dead, and even disguised her voice to talk to their father as if she was Sara. Katie is an amazing actress, but this version of her was unlikable even considering how well she plays the character.
Regardless, she was suffering with her own trauma but still acted as the glue and the moral compass for everyone else. She befriended Nyssa Al-Ghul when she was practically treated as going rogue from the league, took in Thea when she discovered that Thea couldn't handle living alone (whereas her brother just left to go play house with Felicity.) She and Roy formed an amazing duo while Oliver was presumed dead, and she took up the voice of reason for the team during the time as well, regardless of how she was suffering.
Tumblr media
“I'm sorry about what happened to Thea. I really am. I love your family, I always have. I just wish that sometimes you would give a damn about mine.” - Dinah Laurel Lance
Season 4 Laurel, or at least right before she died might have been the best version of her. After the arc with Constantine and Sara was resolved, she became the only one on the team who mattered to the viewer, and perhaps, the reason the show didn't go under.
Roy was gone, Diggle was dealing with his rage and letting it out on his brother like a punching bag, Felicity was crying about something and blaming Oliver, and Oliver turned into a bitch who couldn't do anything unless queen fefe approved. Laurel may have gone through the most traumatic experience of this time, having to go to her sister's funeral twice only to see her resurrected twice, not to mention staying sober, yet she was the only level headed, calm and rational decision maker at this time.
Tumblr media
“I know that the world isn't fair. I know it's a terrible place where people deserve to get punished and they don't. I just, for just one night, I needed the world to be different.” - Dinah Laurel Lance
That is, up until Guggenheim decided to kill her off and have her last words be about queen fefe.
Arrow didn't treat her as a character right, and didn't show Katie Cassidy, an exceptional actress who was said to be constantly training for her role as the Black Canary, any respect because of it.
Guggenheim failed this series, and they've failed her legacy.

Me after it was revealed that Kreisberg sexually harasses his female co-workers, real women, and has been getting away with it for years:

Difference between Dinah Laurel Lance 2 and Caitlin Snow
First of all I can’t take any of Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost’s problems seriously or this path to being a “hero” because she has done nothing to redeem herself. Apparently all she has to do be redeemed is have people tell her she is a good person, get coddled by her annoying ass fandom, the writers and characters. Now Killer Frost is trying to live a normal life and she is angry she might die. She has shown no remorse for people she helped mutilate and trrafficked and she has shown no remorse for attempting to kill her whole team. However, the one thing that Killer Frost is angry about is dying and she might not get to try all 31 flavors of Baskin Robins icecream to find out which one is her favorite. I am sorry to the few fans that care about her but she is shallow superficial and just annoying. It’s hard to take her problems seriously. Now let’s talk about Black Siren now turned Black Canary. Dinah Laurel Lance 2 started as a villain she has blood on her hands but you know what she worked hard to redeem herself. She apologized to Tina for killing Vinnie, she started to work as Earth 1 Laurel and help catch criminals. Yes she almost reverted back to her evil ways but she had support and continued being good. Even when she was framed for murder yes she slipped back into being Black Siren but she snapped out of it real quick. She went back to her Earth to make amends for her crimes and to put things right. Oh, and Quinton died she was the first one that reached out to Sara when no one else would. Now, Earth 2 Dinah Laurel Lance, has is now getting her life back on track, was making ammends and doing things to atone for her crimes but now she lost a lot even more than Earth 1 Laurel. She lost her Oliver, the version of her father, her Earth 1 Father, she crossed the road from good to evil but found her way back to being good and now her whole universe is gone obliterated. She litterally lost everyone and everything she ever loved. Iris is scared has the fear hanging over her head of losing Barry/The Flash for good. Earth 2 Laurel’s universe was erased from existence in seconds and all Killer Frost is not trying all 31 flavors of icecream from Baskin Robins? I can’t take the character seriously. She is the worst written character on the Flash. Also unlike Katie Cassidy Rodgers Danielle Panabaker is not a good actress. At least Katie Cassidy Rodgers always delivers a stellar performance where as Danielle Panabaker is either super wooden or hammy! Like Katie can emote and Danielle looks constipated when she tries to emote.
