Seers' Miscellany
Prologue: Origins of the first bloom
A circular fic for the Dainsleif mini-series I'll be working on. This will be the introduction; of the evanescent bough keeper of the new world. "Observers of the North do not usually wind up in personal business, but when they do, in their wake comes great shifting of the plates of the timelines." Logs of the stag and the delicate flower.
Pairings -> Dainsleif x Reader; Reader is NOT Traveler
Word Count -> 1579
Themes -> Pretty sad, but also fluffy
Chapters -> 1
Warnings -> Story progression takes a while, oh dear why am I doing this now, I'm so busy

"500 mora; and three answered questions."
He's not really sure what lead him to indulge the requests of a simple adventurer when he made his rounds around the city of freedom. Was it the simple need for currency? It couldn't be, he was better off with other commissions that Katheryne could offer.
Was it the desperation in your voice and eyes? You looked at him like a prophet, your only salvation, and perhaps in this context that may be true. You were but a lone adventurer and the way your weight leans heavier on one foot shows your struggle to those who have keen eyes like him, no other person wished to indulge your needs and you were getting desperate.
Or was it the three questions? Dainsleif have yet to hear such contractual obligations before, but it felt as tho it was the most important part of the agreement he took the moment you pleaded with that soft voice. Humble yet resolved, not letting him walk away without at least considering it once.
And so he found himself traversing the land of the wolves through a dangerous path, where you skip ahead with a gait of happiness, bubbly and energetic enough to surpass even his long legs. You hummed without consideration at the glee of finally having a companion, and he did not mind it at the slightest despite the attention it may bring upon your little party.
"First question," Dainsleif fleeted his gaze away from the horizon to turn to you whom slowed your pace to match his, head looking over your shoulder with a wide grin. "How are you?" So innocent.
He huffs in amusement, the most emotion you've seen of him. "You don't need to waste a contract question for such a simple question, you know," he stands behind you as you crouch down on a shrubbery filled with Wolfhooks. Your main objective for visiting Wolvendom in the first place.
You assured him that you meant your question in every way possible as your hands carefully pick at the herbs, wary of the thorns and the intrusive prickly leaves. Despite your attention turned away from him he knows you await his answer. Dainsleif hums to himself and stops—
How is he? What does he truly feel in this moment of his time?
A simple question yet risked for one of the three inquiries agreed upon definitely holds a deeper meaning. His train of spiraling thoughts halts upon the sound of otherwordly grunts and chants as he turns away from your still busy form (you seem very focused on your foraging) to find three Hilichurls approaching with ill intent.
Dainsleif squints at the impending threat before shooting a final glance to make sure you weren't looking. His arm glows blue as he raises it, power in the form of blue swirling mist surges around him - how are you? The feeling brings him back to vague memories of his past, of the energy rising through him at his expeditions with an old companion, of the thrill spent upon encountering the unexpected. Such thoughts are not vivid but the familiarity of what he is experiencing right now was enough for him.
Though he was sure that there were no camps before they went through this route.
"You asked me how I am," he spoke when you finally turned from the bush with an armful of Wolfhooks on your arsenal, confusion on your face at the sight of downed Hilichurls and the side profile of the bough keeper.
His cerulean eyes were fixated at his left hand that he repeatedly closes and opens for a few seconds, before he fully turns to you (your eyes did not miss the blue glow from underneath his cape, where his right arm should be) with a wisp of a smile, "I feel alive right now."
You reciprocated the gesture with a wide grin, "I'm glad to hear that!"
A majority of the wolfhooks gathered where given to the little Botanist Chloris, the seller of flowers, who looked relieved and ecstatic upon your arrival. Something Dainsleif took great notice of. Carefully handing over the berries and some which you had to pluck singularly from your companion's flowy cape, the little girl gave you her Valberries in exchange.
It was sweet and familiar, something Dainsleif took note as he accepted your offer of the fruit despite his none need for sustenance.
Your little chewing sounded through as you two settled on the humble camp you managed to setup with your supply for a single individual. There was a little hole in the middle for a campfire Dainsleif had made the effort to prepare knowing the coldness the night will bring soon enough, and your fragile form is not something he wishes to bargain now. Is that really the reason? Perhaps in the back of his mind, he was really just working on forgotten routines.
"Second question," his footstep at the edge of the camp halts as he turns once again, where you sat on the mat as tonight's bedding, hands flicking to remove the stray juices of the berries. He stood still in wait before he goes back to his mini mission of getting fire wood.
"Go on," he urged when you stood a minute longer in silence.
"Do you like traveling, Dain?" Easy enough, he simply said yes and left when you ended the conversation with a nod.
When he came back with the wood and tinder bundle for easy spreading, out of the corner of his eye he watched your hands work on the mortal and pestle as you grinded the remaining wolfhooks on your person. The fire started the moment he was done setting up the kindling and your face filled with admiration at the sudden and immediate spark, praising him for his quick work.
Dainsleif is both talkative and not, and at times he finds himself rambling to the wind. The moments of the night passed without much details until he found himself talking about his past adventures with his old companion, of the world they've seen together and the now estranged relationship between them.
His responses were sometimes cryptic unintentionally, and he apologizes when there are things about it that he couldn't answer simply because he could not remember. When silence struck after he finished his tales and meal, the beautiful spike in his eyes found yours gleaming despite the drowsiness pulling at your whole feature.
"I'm glad you're very fond of traveling. If not, I wouldn't have met you," and he wouldn't have taken the commission. Dainsleif's eyes flashed in recognition, finally understanding the meaning behind your second question. Somehow this little commission deal turned into a silent back and forth quip of him understanding past your simple inquiries.
Like a little game he muses on with his curious mind.
That night you rested with the extra comfort of his eccentric cape, something you needed more than him as he gazes over the clear night sky. His eyes silently traced the galaxy of stars while the sound of your whispered breathing accompanies his sleepless night.
The last question and that last of your very quick expedition came the next day at the cliffside overlooking the lair sealed by winds.
Your fingers were dusted by the violet paste of grinded wolfhooks long consumed the night prior, stained fingers gripping the thin and fragile stem of the yellow dandelion in its grasp. It was his great observation that let him realize the disaster that happened now but even his foresight could not prepare him for what has to come.
"Third question," his head snapped down to watch your ethereal face don a calm smile, the sun's setting light kissing your cheeks in the right angle that matched that of the clean clouds above. Your eyes silently questioned his unfocused gaze but he only shook his head.
Don't worry about it. "I know this last question would end the commission with you," your voice trembled in both fear and fatigue but Dainsleif didn't force you to preserve your strength like he should. "But I wanted to ask, maybe tomorrow again,
do you want to be my traveling companion?"
The hand that clutched the Dandelion found it way to the side of his mask, the petals brushing against his eyelids as he looks down at you with an eye. A ghost of a smile lingers on his lips as he leans on your hand.
"It would be my pleasure."
Life momentarily flashed over your orbs before you let out a sharp exhale and a breathless, joyous laughter. Relief overtook the tension that laid on your shoulders, and your hand would have dropped to the ground immediately if he had not gripped it on the last second.
"That sounds good. I've always wanted to travel the world," he pulls the cape closer around your form as your eyelids droop to a close. And he witness another breathe, "It was supposed to be today, but I feel really tired today, I'll rest early too if that's okay."
He rose from the ground with you in his arms, "I'll be here."
"Mmm thank you... good... night."
"Good night, little dandelion."
And perhaps that distant memory from faraway had urged him to invite and indulge, when he saw the same spark of intrigue and desperation, of the warmth of carefree days in front of him.
"But I will require advance payment,
500 Mora, and three answered questions."

First question and we're already at the hard part HAHAHA
Liyue. So far all of my screenshots are from Liyue and I do find then aesthetic with a mix of autumn and spring environments. The Chinese aesthetics and architecture as well. While Mondstadt as a country may look..a bit barren other than important locations but it will always be my home.
Diluc. For simping reason 👉👈. But I'm slowly getting fond of Kaeya (in game) yet I don't agree with his 'methods' (in the webcomic), he's way more mysterious than Batman here. So, for now Diluc is a safe choice.
Noelle. Her ult is really satisfying during the unrecoild stars event bruhh + the healing you get with her skill? Hell yeS. And another advantage with her shield is that you won't be affected by elemental attacks and I?? I'm on my knees for her right now.
Zhongli. I'll listen to his voice everyday and his passion for Liyue. And I'm rich in mora (heh flex) so at least I have the money to spend on.
Andrius. I haven't able to defeat him yet but close, at least it was much shorter than my battle with Stormterror. I don't want to fight big bad dragon with wonky camera movement and reconnecting during the fight.
This is horrible but I will go commit massacre in treasure hoarders' camp. Hilichurls are fun to talk to but too bad they need to be killed :(
Falling to my death in Juyeun Karst. Because..well..it's very tall mountain and I favor the aesthetics there. (But the adepti won't be pleased.)
Katheryne. Fight me y'all. She's the best Katheryne than the other Katheryne. Katheryne who? Don't know her 😪 I only believe in Katheryne supremacy.
reblog and tell me if you prefer:
mondstat or liyue ♦ diluc or kaeya ♦ barbara or noelle ♦ childe or zhongli ♦ stormterror or andrius ♦ committing hilichurl genocide or murdering groups of treasure hoarders in cold blood ♦ accidentally falling to your death in jueyun karst or accidentally falling to your death in huaguang stone forest ♦ Kathryne or Kathryne

Wokeness won’t solve Katy Perry’s identity crisis
Katy Perry wants to fight the good fight. She'll have to learn how first.
Image: Picturematt/REX/Shutterstock
In Katy Perry's haphazard and controversial rebranding as a woke pop star, she seems ready to admit she's often out of her depth. These days only three words now comprise her Twitter bio: "i know nothing."
It's a refreshing dose of humility from a celebrity who seems constantly torn between her good intentions and ego. Most of us are, of course, but Perry is staging that struggle before millions of people. The resulting spectacle isn't about what's righteous. Perry's gestures of solidarity instead seem all too often about her spiritual crisis of piecing together her own fragmented identity.
SEE ALSO: Katy Perry's new songs have been pretty terrible, and that's a problem
When she spent last weekend live streaming her life for 96 hours to promote her new album Witness, a tearful session with a therapist revealed that the 32-year-old feels like her emotional and psychological growth stalled as an adolescent.
Katheryn Hudson, the "dorky" evangelical Christian singer, had to bury herself deep inside the persona of bombshell performer Katy Perry in order for them to both reap fame and fortune. And during that rise to stardom, Perry also happened to reject the feminist label before tepidly embracing it, arguably trafficked in homophobia, and sparked outrage with racially insensitive performances and costumes. The pain Perry feels as a result of her split identity is palpable: she craves validation, authenticity, and to have a greater purpose.
youtube
"I'm really strong as Katy Perry, but sometimes I'm not as strong as Katheryn Hudson ... I so badly want to be Katheryn Hudson that I don't even want to look like Katy Perry anymore sometimes," she said, sobbing. "And that is, like, a little bit of why I cut my hair, is because I really want to be my authentic self, like a hundred percent, and so it hurts, you know, when I don't feel like I can."
Plenty of troubled pop stars before Perry have put on a similar show on in public before: Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, and so on. We cheer them when their journey is intense but not too tortured. We mock them when they lose control. But none have tried to wrestle with their own demons and simultaneously exorcise patriarchy and white supremacy from their consciousness.
Being forced to learn about and confront one's own white supremacy for the first time in public is an experience that social justice facilitator adrienne maree brown wouldn't wish on her worst enemy. (Brown styles her name using lowercase letters.)
"White supremacy is really ugly, and to have that pulled out of you in public is really ugly."
"I wish she didnt have to learn this in public," says brown, author of Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds. "White supremacy is really ugly, and to have that pulled out of you in public is really ugly."
Whether Perry is driven to do so because of a marketing strategy to reach a new audience with what she calls "purposeful pop," or a reflection of her deep-seated desire to use her platform for good, or some misguided combination of both, the aftermath actually holds more than just lessons for white pop stars curious about rebranding themselves as allies.
Her celebrity aside, Perry is in some ways a stand-in for white women newly eager to stand up for social justice but still painfully unaware of the scale of oppression others have endured. Perry's chief failures of continuing to make the same mistakes and frequently portraying activism as about her own personal journey are the same missteps that new converts to activism often make. She's also not the only person or brand trying to leverage their fame for social change or even make a buck off the #resistance. (We see you, Kendall Jenner and Pepsi).
For those just finding their way, Perry's mess of contradictions probably feels highly relatable. She praises herself as exceedingly "curious" about the world and ready to absorb people's stories and viewpoints.
Yet, she's made several grotesque displays of cultural appropriation over the years, including dressing up as a Japanese geisha, and sporting cornrows, both in 2013, and earlier this year, posting an image to Instagram of the Hindu goddess Kali. Perry's only commentary consisted of "current mood."

When Perry spoke to the activist DeRay Mckesson during her live stream, he pushed her to take responsibility for such transgressions. Amazingly, she confessed that she'd only just learned the difference between appreciating a culture and appropriating it, even though critics had been pointing it out to her for years.
"I think in my intention to admire a culture and appreciate, I actually appropriated," she said. "I actually made a mistake, because I didnt educate myself ... I didn't know that I did it wrong until I heard people saying I did it wrong."
Perry also pleaded for people to call her out with "love" and "compassion" instead of "clapbacks."
Brown is sympathetic to the request, but it strikes her as disingenuous coming from Perry.
"That's asking us to believe you never saw the feedback ... We're supposed to believe somehow you missed all of that, and now, somehow televised and live streamed, that youre having this awakening," she says. "Don't ask us to have a bunch of time or patience for it."
It doesn't help that Perry's social consciousness often comes across as her means of feeling worthy and important. When Mckesson asked why she'd energetically backed Hillary Clinton's presidential run, Perry didn't focus on critical issues like police violence, paid family leave, or college affordability. Instead, she rhapsodized about how Clinton helped Perry discover an elusive part of her identity.
"I've had to come to terms with the fact that even though it seems like I had so much to sing and say ... there was still something missing."
"It was a real growth spurt for me," she told Mckesson. "Listen, Ive always had a voice 'cause I can sing, but I almost created this character out of protection, because I wasn't really happy with being my birth name, Katheryn Hudson. I didn't think it was enough. I didn't think it was sparkly. I didn't think it was great. So I created Katy Perry ... I've had to come to terms with the fact that, like, you know, even though it seems like I had so much to sing and say ... there was still something missing ... inside of me to really know that I had a real voice that mattered, that was enough. I think it started really being activated when I got to stand alongside Hillary ... In a way I felt, you know, empowered. She gave me that power that I was looking for."
Perhaps the same question framed in another way would have prompted an answer from Perry about the people and causes she wants to elevate. She has, after all, posted Twitter and Instagram messages of solidarity for various causes, including climate change, police brutality, Dakota Access Pipeline water protectors, Planned Parenthood, and the Women's March. And when SNL actress Leslie Jones was attacked online last year after a hacker published nude images of her, Perry name-checked the strain of misogyny so often aimed at black women and tweeted, "Do not give your eyeballs to this racist, hate-filled misogynoir crime."
Do not give your eyeballs to this racist, hate-filled, misogynoir crime. I #StandWithLeslie
KATY PERRY (@katyperry) August 24, 2016
But Perry also has a habit of putting herself at the heart of the story, even when the world is literally on fire around her. In May, a giddy Perry Instagrammed the front page of The New York Times because it included a picture of her appearance at the Met Gala. What she didn't notice or care to address was the main image of a French police officer engulfed in flames after being struck by a Molotov cocktail thrown by a May Day protestor.
One user summed up the dissonance perfectly with the comment "fake woke."

The same thing could be said of Witness. The album doesn't offer anything particularly risky or political. The song "Chained to the Rhythm"would have the listener believe we're all "So comfortable, we're living in a bubble, bubble / So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, trouble." That oblivion may be new to Perry and some of her fans, but millions of people have known injustice their whole lives.
The ironically titled "Bigger Than Me" actually isn't about much more than Perry's own non-specific awakening: "Can't go with the flow, got to make waves / Even though I look at the sand, and I'm just one grain."
Witness makes no attempt to shine a light, as Perry is fond of saying, on any particular social ill. There's nothing like Tupac Shakur's "Changes" or Beyonc's "Freedom." And while you could argue that Tupac and Beyonc were uniquely positioned to write such anthems, white artists have powerfully commented on social issues before. Tupac's "Changes" sampled Bruce Hornsby's hit "The Way It Is," which tackled racism and poverty. Even Phil Collins managed to write a song about homelessness with his hit 1989 track "Another Day in Paradise."
Today a feminist got her wings. Thank you @gloriasteinem
A post shared by KATY PERRY (@katyperry) on Jan 21, 2017 at 6:37pm PST
Such earnestness may not top the charts these days. But had Perry not set expectations that Witness would get political, there'd be no need to wonder why it's so lacking in detail and conviction.
Perry knows well that she's failed and will continue to make mistakes; it was a constant refrain when she spoke to Mckesson. At times that looks like taking responsibility upfront, but in other moments it seems like she's eager to give herself easy outs by blaming the media for taking her words out of context, bemoaning the difficulty of living under a "microscope," and pointing out the burden of her childhood "conditioning."
"Just do the right thing. It doesnt have to be for an audience or anything."
That readiness to see her own hardships first before seeing the pain she's caused others or even the pain others experience as a result of institutional injustice is what enrages many of her critics. And it's a tough habit to break for anyone who is new to being an ally of marginalized people and communities.
Brown believes Perry should think about making this period of growth a private one, adding that she might also consider, if she hasn't already, working with an initiative like the Catalyst Project, which helps teach white people how to fight racism.
"I do feel the good intention," says brown. "[Her] timing makes it suspect. Whats the motivation? So often people are doing things to look like they're doing the right things just do the right thing. It doesnt have to be for an audience or anything."
And that may be the crux of it for Perry and anyone else who sees their wokeness as a journey centered around their own personal validation and growth. The sooner that Perry can disentangle her impulse to use her platform for good and her need to feel authentic and worthy, the more genuine her gestures will seem.
That moment, for Perry and those watching, can't come soon enough.

I got annoyed by the exclamation mark on the weapon banner so I fixed that before doing some wishes hoping for Thoma, but the amount of 3 stars I was getting was getting suspicious... I forgot to switch back to the character banner and wasted 6 wishes on the weapon banner instead... so in order not to let those wishes go to waste I kept wishing until I got pink, which of course was at 10 pity... and it was friggin rainslasher which I have at R5 already and don't even use because fish supremacy
AGH i feel so pained for you :((( that is literally my worst fear, because i tend to do ten pulls, like what if i forget to switch back and then i wish on the weapons banner 💀

hi guys im new baby genshin player and i was hoping to get some help with ruin guards how do you make them be gone :((((
this was smth that i did to pass the ruin hunter stage of the liyue archon quest:
freeze team supremacy!
kaeya and barbara are more than enough (that's how i did it at first, but be careful of cryo hilichurl archers) but you can also only use one cryo character and wait until it rains LOL
but if you don't have a freeze team or just don't want to go that way, here are some general tips:
- when the missile marker is on you, sprint at the last moment (that way the missiles won't hit you); iirc geo constructs can also block the missiles, and if you hide behind a tree or rock that works too (just make sure it covers your entire character)
- when the ruin guard starts spinning, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN and don't come back until it's stopped spinning
- for its clap attack or jump attack, the easiest way to survive is to dodge lol just sprint away and sprint back after it's done attacking
- ruin hunters are much much easier with a bow character; not even to hit the eye and paralyze them, but because the hitbox is pretty high if the ruin hunter is always flying above you and never coming down
- ruin guards can be paralyzed by shooting its eye; ruin hunters' eyes only come out when they're in the middle of shooting missiles at you; graders are incapacitated by hitting the shins and paralyzed by hitting the eye
and feel free to add/send in your own advice!
