here’s some things i already have scripted into my dr:

at some point, i was fake dating rafe bc of my bio mom’s agreement w ward (long story 😭) but it was SEVERELY one sided for me

i eventually date jj, but i haven’t decided when bc i love the slow burn trope so idk if i want to date him prior to the season 1 timeline or at some point in the show’s timeline

i live with my aunt but had a whole ordeal w my bio mom and had to live in figure 8 for a little bit

The foxes play poker

The foxes are disfunctional in almost every reguard

Dan, as a last ditch effort, decided that during the spring semester of the year before Neil arrived, she would host a bi weekly game of poker.

It started on a whim as she was trying to think of ways to get all the team involved in things now that they didn’t have games to play on fridays

Allison was the one to suggest a poker night

They play really low stakes but everybody eventually gets really into it

Renee doesn’t like to gamble but she learned how to handle cards well and so she deals for the foxes

Wymack is just happy to hear they’re all choosing to spend time together in some way even if it is gambling and drinking

Seth plays two different ways: when he and allison are together he’s a pretty good player he’s more easily baited than others but he wins a fair amount and knows his way around the game. When he and Allison are broken up, he’s more likely to be drunk during the games and make rash decisions. Sometimes the night for him ends before the game is over because he simply storms out and crashes where ever he finds himself that night.

Allison is a beast when it comes to poker. She’s a flashy player and not afraid to take a risk. She’s got money to back her up and can see through more falsehoods than she lets on.

Dan is the most practical of all the team. She folds often but never loses as much money as the rest of them tend to. She makes calculated decisions but sometimes misses the mark.

Matt is a good natured fellow but doesn’t know the rules of the game very well. Dan tries to teach him but when he finally knows he has a good hand everyone can tell. He’s a great sport about it all but rarely truly wins.

Nicky is the worst of the bunch. He has a vague idea of the rules but is really just there to drink with the team and have a good time. He goes all in when the mood strikes him even if he has bad cards. Everyone loves to play with him because he eases the tension in the room.

Kevin has no poker face whatsoever. No that’s not quite right, Kevin thinks he has a poker face but he doesn’t really. He is sure that he keeps his expression even no matter what the cards may be but every person in the room can tell you: when his cards are bad he wrinkles his brow (which looks suspiciously like Wymack looks at the scoreboard when they’re behind) and when his cards are good he scrunches his nose so hard you’d expect it to make an audible sound.

Aaron is unpredictable because some nights he plays with his full attention and others he just doesn’t care. When he’s focused he is better than Seth and Dan. When he’s not he’s as easy to beat as Kevin and Nicky. No one has yet to find out what causes the mood shifts but Andrew has a sneaking suspicion that it involves how much katelynn and him have talked that week.

Andrew on medication is the true wild card of the group. He plays with truly reckless abandon but also knows the game really well. His moves are unpredictable and sometimes he’ll throw a game just to have fun with it. The others try to ignore his calls because to give them meaning would mean to think yourself into circles.

Later on in the games when Andrew is no longer on the court mandated drugs, he’s impossible to read. He never lies but no one but Neil ever knows when he has a bad round

They played for a couple months before the summer came. When they played their final game that spring season Dan asked “are we going to invite the new striker?”

The others eventually decided that they should and then they went along their summer break

Little did they know who they were about to bring in

Neil is single handendly the most dangerous player the foxes have. He’s got great mathematical skills. His life literally depends on being able to read the smallest clues on people. He’s been lying to them all about everything since the very beginning. His life makes poker feel like a school children’s game. Neil is the kind of sneaky person that can make you lose the game just by saying the right words. He will occasionally throw a round just to keep people on their toes. He’s got a very competitive drive and the skills to back him up.

When Neil first started playing with them he acted like he didn’t know the rules. He would throw almost every hand unless he had a good one. He drew them in and made them believe he wasn’t good at poker. Once the trap was set, he turned on a dime. He started sweeping the games and collecting more than even Allison did on a normal night. He was cold and calculating on the inside but his veneer was perfect for playing cards. He once convinced Nicky to fold when he had a full house (the foxes knew this for a fact when nicky began to sing the full house theme song under his breath). It was a jaw dropping moment in foxes poker night history.

The others don’t know whether to be mad or impressed. They decide on both.

This little skinny kid comes in and wrecks them at poker.

The foxes decide to make their targets outside of the team and get other people on the floor to play with them. Really they just want them to play against Neil.

The soccer team was the first to fall victim to him. Then the football team. Then the whole school learned to never play poker with the foxes because Neil will almost always sweep the floor with you.

This is all to say: the foxes bond over drinking and losing money to Neil in a game of cards

In the third chapter of his book  ‘Digital Media and Society’,Lindgren, S introduces the topic that the internet might have an influence over society and culture. There are perspectives two perspectives: Cyber-optimism and Cyber-pessimism.The author has successfully reached a middle ground, where both perspectives co-exist.

 In the 1990s, people were very optimistic about how the internet will revolutionize most areas of social life. the new economic system will let everyone participate .Suppliers,consumers,and producers will communicate with each other. There will be place for new ideas as there will be freedom of innovation. The internet will make people respect,accept, and tolerate each other, no matter where they’re from. These Utopian expectations were realized, but they have also come at the price of the dot-com bubble, economic crises,increased surveillance, and censorship. Large corporations were take over the internet. People were optimistic about the internet because it was created by the military, then mediated by computer scientists at universities;therefore, this dynamic mix of academic,counter-culture, and public services gave rise to a public space that is open,decentralized,and diverse public sphere. On the other hand some intense forms of online trades had took off, some believed that this came at the price if ever more intrusive forms of advertising and spamming. Wealth was concentrated in the hands of the big corporations only, and search engines started to do data mining for advertising.

At the same time, the revolt of the nerds was deployed. The first wave consisted of computer scientists , who created and promoted free an open source software that could be used,distributed,and changed by anyone. In the second wave, Wikipedia was launched in 2001 and it became popular as a source of information. Facebook and Youtube entered the scene of the web 2.0. The belief that internet would make the world a better place was based on technological determinism, which is technological changes and shifts in human relationships to these technologies were bound to generate certain forms of progressive,social,cultural,and political change. To oppose technical determinism, one must realize that technologies are tools, and tools can be used to for good and bad things.  Social psychologists Katelynn Mckenna and John Bargha use the example of TV to make the point that the context and the motivations of users decide what social effects the internet will have “Television can link a world together and help bring down the Berlin wall but it’s also infertile for the cultivation of couch potatoes. The internet can bring people of like interests and minds together in ways heretofore unseen, but those similarities can range from a past of sexual abuse among people in great need of anonymous social support, to virulent hatred of other racial groups”. Internet centrism: the technological properties of the internet specifically its global reach, its interactivity,its relative uncontrollability, would be of particular importance. Morozov (2011) underlines the importance of letting go of internet centrism in order to save the internet from “authoritarianism”

In the 1990s, everyone had shares in the emerging IT companies, they guaranteed everyone’s wealth and prosperity in the future. Stock market saw  the nominal value of the NASDAX index soar to extreme levels, and everyone talked about the “dot-com bubble”. In winter 2000, the bubble burst, as the stock market collapsed. Some tech-companies dies, and other lucky ones survived. Scholar Greek Lovink (2011) said that another bubble had burst now, referring to the overblown idea of the internet as a completely open,unregulated and exceptional sphere. Because of the social control and commercialization that the users found on the internet, they found themselves in the “eco-chambers” of communicative capitalism. Communicative capitalism: a social system, where a lot of content is produced freely and openly, yet this lacks any potency to transform society and drive it in a better direction. 2010 saw a sea of change in the internet and social media discussions became conflict-ridden in the wake of surveillance scandals, targeted advertising, and increased commercialization. 

From here the article talks about authors that are either optimistic or pessimistic about the internet. Neil Postman was very pessimistic as the subtitle of one of his books was “ The surrender of culture to technology”, and the book presented a negative outlook on the emerging digital society. However, he believed that it played an important role in society. Postman said that technology is “the submission of all forms of cultural life to the sovereignty of technique and technology”. Similarly,Evgeny Morozov’s “To save everything, click here”’ warns of the dangers of technological solutionism. In contrast, Negropnte’s “being digital stands as cyberoptimism . He formulated many of the positive and hopeful ideas that were floating around this time. For him there 3 components to success: access, mobility and the ability to effect change. He wrote that being digital was not about retrieving various types of information from online repositories. Instead, it was about the emergence of communities taht would create “ a totally new,global social fabric”. Just like Postmann, he  was sure that the internet will bring social and cultural transformations

The article goes on and on about the pessimistic view and the optimistic view on how the internet will change the world by impacting the society cultural, socially, and politically,and how some authors state that if there’s no one to regulate the internet, it will be a show that is run by monkeys, which is, in other words, a chaotic mess. Other authors embrace the amateur creativity and the openness and the smartness of digital networks,and that everything will be better if we just let the people connect with each other to get knowledge.Philosopher and media scholar Pierre Levy used the term Collective intelligence to refer to the people pooling their resources, in the from of knowledge and agency, online.

To conclude, the author of this book has reached a middle ground, by saying that there’s a lot of things on the internet to be optimistic about, and on the other hand there’s a lot f things to be pessimistic about, and that’s why one should always try and be optimistic, because we never know what the future holds.We must try and downplay both of the perspectives in order to formulate a sensible perspective on how and when the media contributes to a transformation of the social

hello lovelies! i’m finally making the grand move to shiftblr to basically reteach myself shifting?? in a way??

i have been actively trying to shift since 2020 and have mini-shifted one time at the beginning of 2023!

what i will mostly post is focused around talking about my drs and giving people a look into what i’ve planned for it, just because i love talking about my drs and everything i’ve scripted, it’s so insanely motivating for me

i tend to ask lots of questions. i haven’t tried to shift since my mini-shift back in 2023, and i think it’s because of my doubts and fears of actually succeeding?? i want to broaden my knowledge and actually succeed in something i’ve wanted for FIVE years now.

did i almost shift last night?

for context, i’ve been trying to shift since 2020 but had lost motivation in 2023 and am now trying to get back into my attempts.

last night, i was trying to do something really simple for my attempt since i didn’t want to overcomplicate my shifting journey this time around. while i was saying my affirmations, my body felt like it was floating but also sinking? almost like when a dentist gives you laughing gas. then, my eyelids were twitching and i could almost see spots in my vision i couldn’t figure out.

i kept visualizing myself in my dr bedroom to try and shift my subconscious, however, i struggled with it due to some routines i have set due to my ADHD. for example, i have to sleep with noise so i keep my tv on youtube constantly, and i have a fan on high right by my face. i feel like those kept grounding me to my current reality and held me back? i’m not sure how that works but if you have any tips on overcoming that pls let me know!

y’all i think i almost shifted?? did i almost?? i wanted to take a nap before i went to work and i had no intention set to shift but my mind kept visualizing myself sleeping in my dr bedroom and i was about to be in a deep sleep when i felt like someone had touched my hip?? that’s almost what i had scripted i would feel and i literally shot awake out of my bed (it was my obx dr and i scripted kie would wake me up in my room)

i have no idea if i almost shifted or not bc sometimes i will get a sleep spasm that feels like that but it felt like someone had tapped my hip/leg

i’m so sick of seeing ppl on tiktok being like “omg remember when we were all trying to shift to hogwarts? we were literally going thru psychosis it’s not real lmaooo 😛”

it’s literally the most demotivating thing ever. whether i have physical proof of shifting being real, I KNOW IT’S REAL. there are so many religions and scientific theories that support it but it’s so hard bc i’m wondering if i even should be trying for something that’s possibly not real or not what i expect it to be.

i’ve been trying since 2020 and have only gotten close maybe once (which i’m still not entirely sure if it was a minishift or not?)

in other words, someone pls motivate me and help me find hope in my attempts bc i don’t want to give up something i’ve wanted for years bc one person didn’t even try and called it psychosis 😭

y’all i know i’m getting close to shifting to my dr! i set and intention last night on “if i shift, i shift. if not, it’s okay.” and i had a dream about my dr! i cant remember what the dream was about but i know i dreamt about my obx dr bc i remember jj being in it!

i haven’t had a dream, let alone one about my dr, in a long time! and ever since i woke up i have felt so connected to my dr like if i closed my eyes rn i would be there
