okokokok soooooooo bringing it back to battle of the blondes. letâs set the scene shall we? thereâs a wnba event where all three are present and theyâve all interacted with reader separately(reader could be apart of the event or a media reporter). everyoneâs blonde big 3 are raving about reader to each other (without realize itâs the same person) and when they find out theyâre all talking about readerâŚ..the battle begins (def might have to be a mini series but fs has potential)
thoughts? or prayers ig?
-đŤ§
Ë ŕźâĄ â・Ëâ§Ë°ĘđÉ⥠battle of the blondes,,
paige bueckers x fem!reader, emily engstler x fem!reader, kate martin x fem!reader
*just gonna call reader peach bc i donât want to make an oc, its used like twice for plot purposes.*
oh youâve really done it now.
youâre attending a WNBA event, something pivotal that would launch your career to the next level if it went well, and you might ruin it for yourself just by the way youâre ogling some of the women.
three women in particular.
you really needed this to go well. like, really needed it. you were planning on becoming a social media manager for one of a few teams youâve spoken to and you were using tonight to prove yourself. itâd been going really well and you captured such great content for a few different teams but as soon as you saw them, your heart dropped to the pit of your stomach. just looking at them made you nervous.
kate martin was the first one to approach you, smile wide with a toothy grin that made you blush. she was nervous.
she spotted you as soon as she walked into the space, easily recognizing you from some of the work youâve done with the aces. she even heard talk that youâd be the new content manager, something she could only pray was true.
she found her way to you quickly. but as soon as you were within arms length and already smiling at her, she realized she had no idea what she was going to say to you. she had no plan, no cheesy pick-up line, and she definitely had zero chill.
âhi kate! you wanna film some content?â
yes. but not in the way you were talking about.
âi mean, should i? i donât know, i just saw you and wanted to say hey.â oh god, she was definitely sweating through her undershirt.
âoh okay, well itâs good to see you. howâve you been?â
kate moves closer to you now, leaning down slightly as you talk so she can hear you better. itâs so she can hear you, not because she wants to be as close to you as possible. definitely not. thatâs why when her hand hovers over your spine, gently pressing into you itâs not a big deal because she just canât hear you.
âoh yâknow, iâve been good. i havenât seen you at any practices recently. iâve missed you!â sheâs saying it with a friendly tone, leaning down and fanning her breath over your ear. her words immediately make you blush, a silly smile spreading on your face. she never fails to flatter you.
âaw really? iâve missed you too money martin.â
the blonde laughs and you physically feel it. it isnât until her body shakes your own that you realized youâre leaning into one another. it immediately makes you freeze, eyes scanning the room for disapproving glances because you need to be on your best, most professional behavior.
you donât find what youâre looking for, extremely thankful that everyone elseâs attention is elsewhere. you push away from kate slightly, turning to stand in front of her. her hand reluctantly drops from your spine but her smile never falters because at least youâre still here.
âso.. iâve heard some rumors you might be the new media manager for the aces?â
âoh yeah, well, i donât know. iâve been seeing a couple teams recently.â
âoh?â oh. itâs definitely not kateâs favorite news. she felt like she really bonded with you and she wanted to have you around more, but the lack of confirmation was a little disheartening. you were so talented; all of your photos looked amazing and everyone loved them. plus, you were a sight for sore eyes. really though, kate looked at you like you were the prettiest girl sheâs ever seen. but thatâs because you were.
âare you jealous that other teams get my attention too?â you joke, poking your finger on her shoulder gently.
kateâs blushing uncontrollably, turning the same shade as her red suit. she feels like her body might be on fire simply because of your playful teasing. sheâs so fucking whipped.
âoh, i- i mean, no, of course not. like youâre great so yâknow, iâll miss you and stuff. yeah.â kate curses herself for stumbling over her words, red cheeks turning crimson. you laugh it off though, smiling that big smile youâre known so well for.
âiâm just messing with you kate. i still donât know where iâll end up, wish i could tell you.â
sheâs about to say something else, maybe compliment your pretty dress or the way your hair is done but she canât because someone is calling her name. she pretends like she canât hear it and continues looking at you, but youâre already looking in the direction of the voice calling out to the blonde. kate internally groans, closing her eyes to roll them in annoyance.
âwell, iâll see you around katie. it was really nice getting to talk to you.â
katie. were you giving her a nickname? the simple thought erupts butterflies in her stomach like sheâs never felt before. you make her feel like a love-struck teenager again.
âyeah, yeah. iâll see ya.â she runs her hand down your arm, gently squeezing once she reaches your palm. it feels wildly intimate for your surface level friendship but kate wants you to know. she needs you to. she canât even help herself anymore, looking back to smile at you as she disappears into the crowd.
you take a deep breath, reminding yourself that youâre at a work event, not a tinder date. a few more people approach you after that and vice-versa for some media photos and videos. you take pictures of breathtaking outfits, film funny videos and short interviews, and mingle with team management and owners.
youâre in the middle of conversation with a new york liberty media manager when you feel a familiar presence behind you, a gentle hand gliding over the small of your back.
emily engstler smiled at you as you turned away from the previous and forgotten conversation. you were immediately at ease just by looking at her, pulling her into a swift embrace.
âoh my god emily, itâs so good to see you.â
âi could say the same. thereâs so many people here iâm glad i spotted you.â
emily was part of the team youâd been working with the past few weeks, filming videos and pictures of the washington mystics players to put up on their social media. you two bonded very easily and quickly and it made your job much more fun, so you really grew a keen liking for her.
she felt the same, maybe a little something more than friendly though.
âhow are you? having fun?â
âoh yeah, loads of fun. everyone is so sweet.â it wasnât a lie; other than the soft but increased patter of your heart because of how good she looked, you were doing great.
âyeah? iâm glad. you look really nice by the way. iâve never seen you dressed up like this.â
âi could say the same about you. iâm so used to seeing you all sweaty, this is a big difference.â
on the surface emily is calm and collected. she laughs lightly at your comment because itâs true, but it also leaves her a little flustered because hopefully no one heard that out of context. but a tiny part of her hopes someone did.
âdo you want me to snap some pictures of you in your suit?â you offer, pointing to the camera resting around your neck.
now sheâs even more flustered. she nods and moves to stand against the wall, giving you her best model-level smile as you take her picture. when you show her the pictures she almost cringes at how noticeably flushed she is. itâs all because of you and your cute dress and your even cuter smile-
âare you alright em?â
em. fuck. sheâs totally done for as soon as you utter the nickname. itâs not even anything special, everyone fucking calls her that. but it sounds different coming from you. it doesnât help that you grip her bicep just hard enough to make her a little dizzy.
âoh yeah. can we retake those? i look like a tomato.â
âfor sure. iâm sorry- i think i messed up the lighting setting on the camera or something.â
she poses again, flashing you that same breath-taking smile. her hands buries itself deep in her pocket to hide the clamminess.
you canât help but adore her from behind your device. your eyes linger on her face, watching as her eyes trace your movements as you pull the camera away. sheâs much more pleased with the results this time, leaning in to affirm your media skills. emily complimented you endlessly as you showed her shots from earlier in the day too, trying to navigate her way into your heart.
âso, do you know if youâre signing with the mystics or..?â
âoh, no i donât, not for sure anyways. i donât think iâm supposed to tell you this but itâs definitely been talked about with management and stuff. i think they really like me.â
âhow could they not?â
emily tried to keep her spirits high and wandering mind positive. if you were signed with the mystics itâd make things a lot easier for emily. things like making very clear moves on you to a possible and eventual romantic relationship, something she was interested in having with you.
she watches you smile at her comment and it only warms her heart further. she noticed you do this thing when you smile and she absolutely fucking loves it- you always tilt your head a little to the left when you smile, shrugging sometimes when itâs because of a compliment. she watches you do it now, only admiration flooding her mind and body language.
âyou gotta stop looking at me like that.â
âlike what?â
âlike that. itâs driving me crazyâ
you almost go breathless because sheâs making you so nervous- was she flirting? it was making your head spin and her cheeky smile doesnât make it any easier to deal with.
youâre about to reply with some nonsense but thankfully the moment saves you, a teammate of emilyâs grabbing her attention.
âhey guys! emily câmere, thereâs someone from my college team i want you to meet.â
she reluctantly waves you goodbye as she vanishes back into the crowd of people thatâs only grown since she arrived. now youâre left to stand on your own, still flustered by the tall blonde when another one walks towards you, hand gently coming down on your shoulder to grab your attention.
paige bueckers greeted you with a warm smile, a genuine one that reached to her eyes. your eyes went wide with excitement upon seeing her, a smile like her own painting your features excitedly.
âpaige! i had no idea youâd be here.â
âyâknow i had to show up to see my fav.â
youâd worked with her before, interning with uconnâs media team last year during your last year of college. she was growing to be a big star in college basketball so you worked with her a lot. it was always a fun time, especially since sheâs so photogenic.
âi know youâre working with all the pro teams now but i still think you should come back to uconn for my last year.â she teases, squeezing your shoulder as a gentle reminder that sheâs still there and still so close to you.
âoh yeah? you gonna win this year?â
âyou already know.â
she shoves her hands in her pockets because she realized she canât stop touching you. even on the retreat, her smirk is relentless and unwavering within your banter together. confidence exudes from her very being and itâs unbelievably attractive, at least she hopes it is.
sheâs trying to swoon you.
âreally though, what team are you gonna be working with by next year? i need to know where iâm gonna end up.â
you laugh at that, a beautiful laugh that sweeps through your whole body. itâs music to paigeâs ears, face heating up at your reaction but she never falters. sheâs smiling and laughing with you because your energy is contagious to her, intoxicating enough to where sheâs okay with becoming an addict if it means she can be like this forever. with you.
âwouldnât you like to know.â
âyeah i would actually.â
âcanât tell you.â
âwhy not?â
âbecause i donât know. change of subject though, let me do my job and take some pictures of you.â
âoh yeah?â
âyeah.â
she confidently finds her way in front of the backdrop, posing in a way you can only describe as incredibly fucking hot. she switches her pose a few times and you capture a multitude of pictures from each moment, admiring her beauty and ease.
she swiftly finds her way back to you after a few moments, not able to deny the magnetic energy that keeps pulling her to you. as you show her some of the pictures her hand loops around your torso, pulling you out of the way of passersby, but also just so she can keep close to you.
it feels like itâs been ages since the draft, which is the last time paige saw you. she wants to soak you in now because she doesnât know when sheâll see you again. the thought sends a pang through her heart but paige is absolutely determined to make a more.. official, move on you tonight. she pulls back to look at your face, cogs in her head turning to look for the perfect thing to say when someone whisks you away.
you bid your sweet, honey-laced farewell before youâre gone in a flash. paige understands, youâre here to work. she strolls away aimlessly, spotting a few familiar faces seated at a table in the distance.
thatâs how the three blondes found themselves all at the same table, all gushing about the same person without a clue.
it started with paige talking to caitlin, who eventually dragged kate into the conversation alongside emily. paige talked about you, a nameless mention of the most beautiful girl ever. she gushed to the other blondes about how happy she was to see you again, how pretty you looked, and how sweet you acted.
âi didnât get to talk to her for long unfortunately but im still so glad i got to see her. sheâs so amazing.â paige spoke confidently, leaving your identity anonymous to the rest of the girls at the table. caitlin pushes kate teasingly at the topic, piping up to add to the conversation.
âkateâs little crush is here too. wonât stop talking about her.â
âuh yeah, i saw her when i first got here. i havenât seen her since though, i think sheâs really busy yâknow.â kateâs blushing, nowhere in her nightly plans did she intended to spill her guts to everyone about her massive crush on you.
âoh yeah kate, keep it modest. donât tell them what you told me, about how pretty she looks and how talented she is and how her hair is up so nicely in a cute little half updo-â
âdude!â
âfine, fine.â caitlinâs eyes drift to the other blonde across the table, motioning to her, âwhat about you? anyone special here tonight?â
emily nervously clears her throat and sinks into the chair. she canât help but smile at the simple thought of you. the word vomit comes immediately and she canât even help it.
âoh yeah. i mean, i guess. iâve kinda liked her for a little while and i got to talk to her earlier. sheâs really cool. bro, sheâs got this thing she does when she smiles- i swear itâs gonna kill me someday. iâm fucking whipped.â
âsame.â
âsame.â
kate and paige speak in unison, almost alarmingly. caitlinâs eyes flicker between her friends, then to aaliyah as she approaches the table. she occupies the space between emily and paige, grabbing the shoulders of both her former and current teammate.
âpaige did you see peach?â
âyeah, i talked to her a little while ago.â
âdid you, emily?â
âyeah i did.â
liyah winks at emily, knowing of the crush her teammate has for her friend. it makes emily blush which immediately catches paigeâs eye- itâd be impossible to miss emilyâs big smile at the mention of your famous nickname shared between close friends. kate doesnât catch on, too embarrassed from caitlinâs intrusive speech to think properly.
âwait, what was that?â paige is quick to question, wanting nothing more than for her suspicions to be proven wrong.
ânothing?â
âoh my god.â caitlin breaks through the short silence. sheâs pieced it all together. caitlin throws her head back in laughter almost manically because, this drama is too fucking good.
âwhat?â kate asks, confused as to why everyone looks so concerned.
âyou guys all have a crush on the same person.â
everyoneâs eyes widen; in fear, horror, shock, jealousy, disbelief, you name it. paige finds you amongst the crowd talking to a woman and canât help but feel possessive over you. youâre hers. a similar thought seems to run through the other two blondes as well. they all grimace, faces turning sour with discontent.
âwait, you guys have a crush on peach too?â kate doesnât even want to know the answer, heart sinking past the floor when the other blondes nod in confirmation. she wants to throw up, but more than that she wants to find you and confess her admiration towards you in hopes that you feel the same.
she has to get to you before the others.
she stands up and darts across the room as casually as possible. caitlin watches in shock because sheâs never seen her close friend act this way, but thereâs a first for everything.
âfuck.â paige mutters, pushing away from the table to follow kateâs trail to you. emily does the same. all the blondes have departed from their previous spots, now only concerned with the trivial task of finding you and getting you alone.
itâs no use though, all immediately arriving within the same second. your attention is inevitably drawn to all three of them as they stand before you with pleading eyes.
âguys? is everything alright?â
âno.â kate mutters, eyes shamelessly wandering over your figure with her bottom lip pulled snugly between her teeth.
âwhatâs.. whatâs going on?â
everyone is silent, glancing around at one another before paige bravely breaks the stale silence. âwe all like you peach. a lot. basically, you need to pick one. if any of us.â
âoh.â

Y/n sighed as she (unwillingly) answered Kateâs fifth call. She went to place the phone against her ear, yet quickly pulled it away and winced when Kateâs voice loudly screeched through her speaker.
âY/n L/n!â
âHoly fuck Kate, what?â
âThat's what you get for not answering my calls.â
Y/n rolled her eyes, sighing.Â
âKate, why are you spamming my phone?â Y/n inquired, putting the call on speaker and laying back down in bed, returning to working on her computer.
âBecause of your tweet,â Kate responded. Y/n could just hear the shit-eating grin that adorned her face.
âWhat about my tweet?â

Oh kate 100% gets an ego boost when she messes up her girls makeup during sex. âWhat happened to it being transfer proof?â
ÂˇË ŕźâÂˇË ŕź *â§.*ŕŠâŠâ§âË a little blurb: kate loves messing up your makeup..
the pillow you rested your head on was surely dented by now. youâd been there for at least an hour, helplessly having fallen victim to kateâs seduction. it didnât help that you were both a little past drunk off of whatever alcoholic punch was at the party you both had attended. kate got overzealous with her portions, selfishly dunking her cup in more times than you could even count.
long story short, there were two different versions of a drunk kate. she could either be really sweet, all shy and affectionate as sheâd clumsily stumble around looking for you. or, she could be meanâ determined, unbelievably horny and lacking any self control or patience. tonight she was mean. she practically dragged you home just to tease and taunt you, telling you how pretty you looked and it was such a shame sheâd have to ruin all your hard work. it didnât help that youâd drunkenly rolled your eyes and told her âitâs smear and transfer proof,â to which she only took to offense as she practically shoved you down on her bed.
thatâs how you ended up hereâ legs eagle-spread and soaked as kate got you off for the fifth time that night. you loved being kateâs pillow princess. you usually took everything she gave you with zero complaints but tonight was almost too much for you. she refused to give you any moment of reprieve, never stopping as she massaged her tongue into your surely throbbing nub. it was no use to push her away because she wouldnât budge even an inch, insisting she was too busy and too happy to leave the haven between your legs.
âoh fuck kate!â you nearly shouted, feeling your whole body attempt to coil once sheâd coaxed your sixth orgasm out of you. of course you couldnât retreat, kateâs strong arms holding your shaky legs open for another attack. you just couldnât help it when you started to cry.
black streaky tears rolled down your face like clockwork, a choked sob escaping you when kate sucked your puffy clit back into her mouth. the sensations were too overwhelming. each movement felt like fire burning hot inside of you that refused to wane, kateâs tongue sending a sharp jolt through your leaking, overstimulated pussy. your girlfriend looked up at you upon hearing the sob, nothing but an overjoyed sense of pride swelling deep within her and mixing with her own arousal.
she instantly noticed your mascara streaking down your face. she smirked, finally lifting her head for the first time as she gleamed at you, âwhat happened to it being transfer proof?â sheâd say, probably snapping a picture of you laying so vulnerably for her.
âshould probably get a refund-â sheâd add, right she lets her tongue slide back between your folds, disappearing into your clenched and dripping hole.
chat this is freaky.

my masterlist
âoh my god, kateâ you all but moaned, attempting to whisper. her breathe was staggered, lips on your shoulder, tongue darting out to run along your skin.
âi know, babyâ she sighed assuringly âi knowâ
she was leaned against the headboard, hair free from her signature ponytail and cascading down her shoulders. kate was completely bare of her clothes, having lazily discarded them when she arrived in your shared room for the night. her long legs were spread to make room for you, extending out onto the sheets. you however, were up against kateâs chest, legs hooked over her thighs as you pressed your cunt against hers.
you had already been asleep when kate got home, utterly exhausted from work. your boss was nagging you about paperwork, clients kept calling to complain, and it seemed that everything was going wrong that day. kate, too, was struggling. she wasnât playing well the entirety of practice and coach was on her ass about it. she was overwhelmed and tried just the same. both of you were ready to call it quits for the day, just wanting to curl up in bed next to one another.
but when she laid down next to you, feeling you roll over and tuck yourself into her body, she couldnât help the feeling that overcame her. when your leg draped over her waist, hips pressing into hers, she felt the familiar throbbing between her thighs. she needed you bad. she hated to wake you up when you were this tired, but it felt like she was going to explode.
so she shook you awake with a polite shove of your shoulder. she pressed sweet kisses to your cheek as your eyes fluttered open. you groggily asked what she was doing, wanting to fall back asleep, but you knew exactly what the answer was when you heard her voice. a mix between a whine and a groan escaped her throat.
i need you so badâŚplease
and thatâs what led you to this moment, moaning quietly as you rolled your hips into kateâs. every bit of clothing was discarded on the floor below you in a state of urgency as you climbed atop of kateâs body. her strong hands guided you into postion, fitting you snuggly as you lowered yourself onto her.
she whimpered, relieved to feel the feeling of your pussy on hers. unable to handle the pleasure, she desperately grabbed at your tits, pinching your nipples gently to coax you to go faster. you complied, snapping your hips quicker and harder. exhaustion still held a tight grasp on your body which caused you to rest your head in the crook of kateâs neck. kate mirrored your tiredness, hands now guiding your hips to alleviate some of the work.
âthatâs it,â kate moaned again, her voice was strained as her fingers dug deeper into your skin âfuckinâ me so good, babyâ
you could feel the pleasure building up inside of you. head falling back in pleasure, your hands came up to rest on kateâs shoulder to steady yourself.
âkate kate kateâ you mewled. your eyes squeezed shut, mouth falling open âmâgonna cum-oh my god-iâm cumming iâm cummingâ
she could feel you, soaking wet and pulsing beneath her. it was enough to make her bite her lip, suppressing the most pornographic moan she could possibly make. her legs tightened around yours as your humping reached its peak. she watched as your chest heaved as you panted, sweat dripping down your cleavage slowly.
âoh kate-â you gulped, knowing your high was approaching. she understood immediately, one of her hands coming to your messy folds to find your clit. her finger rubbed small circles on your bud, encouraging your orgasm as you continued to languidly move your hips.
âjesus christâŚyouâre doing so good, gonna make me cumâ she was going ballistic, eyes about to roll to the back of her head in complete bliss âdonât stop, donât fucking stopâ
and you didnât-you couldnât stop even if you wanted to.
finally, she felt your body jerk against hers. your breathing became broken and you let out a satisfied, yet quiet cry as you reached your release. the action alone, paired with your rhythmic thrusts, was enough to push kate to her own orgasm. wetness pooled between you, dripping onto your thighs and sheets until you finally slowed your pace. kate was still riding out her high when you collapsed into her, arms enveloping around her neck.
âi love youâ you muttered into her ear, finding the last bit of energy you had.
âlove you moreâ she turned to place a kiss against the side of your head.
you could have laid there for hours if you could. having kate totally bare for you, mumbling sweet nothing into your ear. something you knew to be truly euphoric. it was a perfect moment and you wouldnât trade that for anything, even the best sleep of your life.
.ăťă.ăťăâăť.ăťâŤăťăăťă.

I see you watch her from across the room
Dancing her home in your mind
you were from another world, kate was convinced. dolled up in your red gingham sundress, the one lined with ivory lace and a sweet little bow that sat in between your breasts. your cowboy boots clunked rhythmically against the wooden boards on the old bars floor as you danced to the music. you had once had a drink in your hand, a fruity little cocktail because you couldnât handle the strong stuff like kate did. but the glass was long forgotten when you left your girlfriends company to join in on the line dance.
kate remained seated on the leather bar stool, her own pair of boots propped up on the foot rest. her elbow was leaned up against the varnished bar as she swirled her drink mindlessly. her attention was no longer on the ice that slowly melted within the glass, but on you, in the midst of the friday night bustle. she had brought you to the bar just like she did every weekend, a small tradition you adopted when you first started dating. you had fallen in love with the small little town and the cozy bar within it and found yourself most happy in the musical chaos of it all.
while she loved seeing you out there in your element, she couldnât help but wish youâd stay right there next to her. her heart turned to mush at the way you would smile, flash your pearly whites as you sung along to the music. she loved how your dress twirled around your calves as you spun around in circles, your voluminous hair bouncing behind you. but she hated how you were so far, wanting to see that charming smile and those gorgeous locks up close for herself. she couldnât stand the thought of you being out there for all eyes to see. hated how any man or woman could claim you as theirs in their minds.
kate was aware of your immense beauty, knew how especially the men liked to gaze in your direction. you were a sight for sore eyes, not even having to lift a finger to attract the attention of everyone in town. and while kate did get jealous, seeing how the single folk in the bar constantly asked you to dance or buy you a drink, she knew youâd never cave. your love for kate was outstanding and hardly likely to dissipate over a few drinks offered by lonely cowboys. they could continue to stare at you, imagine dancing with you all they wanted. but she knew it was her, at the end of the night, that got to take you home and settle between your thighs.
Well, it takes more than whiskey to make that flower bloom
By the third drink you'll find out she's mine
âgood evening, missyâ a deep voice slurred from behind you âi saw ya over there dancinâ and was hopinâ i could buy ya a drink?â
you had just returned to your seat next to kate at the bar, almost winded from all the dancing. a small film of sweat lingered on your forehead as you plopped down, adjusting the skirt of your dress. kateâs hand found its way to the divot of your hip without a second thought. she ordered you a brand new drink once she noticed you reaching for hers, letting you finish off her whiskey was a recipe for disaster. the bartender poured your drink as kate leaned in to kiss your blushed cheek, listening to you rave about the excitement on the dance floor. it wasnât until your drink was passed to you, pausing your conversation, that you were suddenly interrupted.
âoh,â you licked your lips, the salt from the rim of your glass sticking to your upper lip. you turned around to face the stranger to see it was a taller and quite older man. he was muscular and burly, a thick beard embellishing his face. not that it would sway your opinion, but he was no different than the rest of the men who thought they had a chance with you âno thank youâ
the man seemed to be taken aback, nose scrunching in disgust. he shook his head and and rolled his eyes, large hands coming up to rub his jaw. he inched closer to you, broad shoulders on the brink of colliding with your back. kate immediately noticed this, tightening her grip on you as she shot a stern glare his way.
âno?â he scoffed âitâs just a drink, ladyâ
âlook iâm just not interested alright?â you sneered, trying not to be too harsh and make a scene in the midst of the busy bar.
âand whyâs that, huh? iâm a nice, good lookin guy. whatâs your fuckin problem?â he spat at you, near slamming his fist on the bar. this triggered something in kate, causing her to leap from her seat in anger. but you placed your hand on her chest, sending her a look to tell her that you had it under control. she looked back at you, then back at the guy in conflict. kate was more than ready to put that guy in his place, to claim you as hers and teach him a lesson. but she also knew you took satisfaction in telling these men off, ultimately deciding to take a seat and observe.
âiâm happily taken, iâll have you knowâ you motioned to kate âi appreciate the offer, but i would appreciate it even more if you apologized and left us aloneâ
kate smirked, seeing his expression fall. it was always so gratifying to see these people learn that you were in love with someone else, and a woman at that. she tipped the rim of her cowboy hat mockingly at him, her way of making her presence known. the man cleared his throat, now embarrassed as he took his hand away from the bar and took a step back.
âyou-uh-youâre right, maâamâ he mumbled, digging his hands into his pockets âmâsorry ladies, have a nice nightâ
he shuffled away in humiliation, probably on his way to pester some other woman he thought he could seduce. you watched him bump into a few people before he disappeared into the ever growing crowds. you sighed in relief, taking another swig of your drink.
âhe not your type?â kate snickered, smirking at you teasingly before finishing off her own drink.
âshut up,â you laughed as you smacked her shoulder lightly. you turned on the stool, rusty metal squeaking loudly as you came to face her. nimble fingers came up to move a strand of hair away from her face âyou know i only have eyes for youâ
âyouâre somethin else, ya know that?â she groaned, noticing the way you bit your lower lip and batted your lashes at her.
âi do,â you leaned in to place a small kiss to her lips âbut you love itâ
I've loved her in secret
I've loved her out loud
âcan we just stay like this forever?â you asked, resting your head against kateâs shoulder as you let your eyes close.
these were your favorites moments. sitting on the porch swing with kate as the sun went down, crisp summer air swooshing past you. the sky glowed pinks and oranges, reflecting onto the home you shared on this secluded farm. the chains of the swing creaked with each push, kateâs bare foot touching the floorboards just enough to rock you back and forth. crickets and other little critters sounded from the fields in front of you as the evening fell upon the town. the grasses and weeds of the crops whistled in the wind, adding to the noise. kate hummed an unknown tune-probably some song she heard on the radio weeks ago-as she draped an old knit blanket across your laps.
âmhm,â her hand wrapped around your shoulder, tugging you closer into her side to keep you warm. her fingers toyed with the fraying ends of your sleeve, an old country singer tee shirt that you stole from her drawer one day âthen iâd get to keep ya all to mâselfâ
âyou already got me to yourself, kateâ you chuckled softly, nuzzling your nose into her neck.
âyea,â she continued âbut here? itâs jus the two of us. no drunks at the bar, no assholes givin us a hard time in townâŚitâs just you, me, and the farm. everything iâve ever wantedâs right hereâ
you smiled against her shoulder, feeling the rough material of her flannel shirt on your lips. kate was the biggest sweetheart, was always vocal on her appreciation for this life. it was true, everything she wanted was right here. she was never set on a busy life at all. as long as she had her woman, her animals, her crops, and most likely her guitar (because how else would she serenade you on quiet nights like these), then sheâd never need anything else. you were her entire world, what made her the person she is. sheâd do anything to keep this life with you.
âmmm,â you sighed, another breeze lulling you into sleep âi love you sâmuch, kateâ
âi love you too, darlinâ she confessed, sensing your drowsiness âmore than you knowâ
The sky hasn't always been blue
It might last forever
Or it might not work out
her back ached, her feet hurt, and her head pounded with the memories of your conversation this morning. kate had never meant to say what she did, and now she beating herself up at the thought of hurting you.
she had woken up at the same time she always did, quietly padding out of bed and into the connected bathroom as to not wake you. you hated early mornings so kate normally let you sleep while she did her morning farm chores. in return, youâd clean the house, run errands, and you often helped kate with anything she was behind on. it was a fair trade off and the routine worked for you, so there were hardly any issues during the countless years youâve been together.
but for some reason, everything seemed to have gone wrong this morning. kateâs alarm didnât go off so she was late to milk the cows, causing her to go behind schedule by at least 45 minutes. the water heater apparently stopped working, she ran out of toothpaste, and her favorite work pants had a pretty gnarly hole. then, she accidentally woke you up by knocking down some of her toiletries because she was in a rush. you were shocked to wake up to such chaos, trying to ask her what was wrong and asking if there was anything you could do to help. but rather than answer or kiss you goodbye and tell you she was in a rush, she snapped at you angrily before running out the door.
âcan you just leave me alone? fuckâ she had said, trying to pull her boot over her left foot âchrist, i donât have time for this, i gotta goâ
the comment left you dumbfounded, disgusted by her tone. sure, there were times that kate got a bit angry and said something she didnât mean, but it was never like this. she never said anything that directly offended you. plus, she always apologized if she hurt your feelings. this time, on the other hand, felt like a personal dig at you.
you laid in bed for a while as you replayed the scenario over and over in your mind. it had made you incredibly upset, knowing that she was somehow mad at you for asking if you could just help. eventually, you decided to just get up and get some work done throughout the house to try and take your mind off of it. but no matter what you did during the day, you couldnât shake how terribly she made you feel. her words stuck with you like glue as you went about your daily chores.
the dishes were done and the floors were scrubbed spotless by the time dinner rolled around. you made your self busy with prepping the food as you waited for kateâs arrival. she typically finished around 5:30, but with her being in such a hurry, she most likely wouldnât be back to the house until 6:30. so you focused on cutting the vegetables and marinating the meat until she was home.
kate, meanwhile, was finishing rounding up the horses. she so desperately wanted to go home, eat the delicious dinner you had made, and curl up under the covers with you while you read your book aloud to her. but now, as her hands grasped around the brass door knob of the front door, she realized that that may be harder to achieve than she had thought.
she was instantly met with discomfort the second she set foot in the house. the air felt heavier and the atmosphere was merely dimmer than it should be. the radio would often be playing somewhere in the kitchen, you could never get anything done without your old school tunes. her heart twinged at the loss of your humming, the sweetness of your voice nowhere to be found as she kicked off her boots and set them aside.
her legs dragged her into the kitchen where she spotted you silently chopping away at some peppers (the ones you had insisted you grow yourself, giving yourself yet another thing to tend to). you were still and quiet, not even so much as swaying your hips. she knew that you were upset right away. and you had every right, she admitted internally, her behavior this morning was uncalled for and she didnât blame you.
âhey, babyâ she mumbled, testing the waters. she wandered through the kitchen, making her way to the cabinet to grab a cup for a glass of water.
âheyâ you murmured back in response. now it was the tone of your voice that stung kate. you didnât bother to look at her, keeping your focus on the task at hand. but kate couldnât bring herself to look away from you, instead she took the time to study the expression on your face and the movement of your body. you seemed stiff, muscles tense with irritation. the features of your face were soft-they always were-but now they were soft with disappointment. you were a headstrong gal, kate knew all too well, and would rather go all night completely mute than pretend like this morning never happened. so she decided to shrug off her guilt and pride and own up to her mistakes.
âdarlin?â she set the glass down on the counter top, no longer worried about the water. she came up behind you as you slowed the movements of your knife.
âhm?â
âmâsorryâ she divulged, chest pressing against your back. her arms came to wrap around your torso as she let her head fall. her chin now rested on your shoulder, her nose nudging at the angle of your jaw âfor what i said today, that wasnât fair to ya. you were jus tryinâ to helpâ
you said nothing, pushing her off your shoulder as you resumed your chopping. the small action made kateâs insides churn. she tried again, this time placing a hand on your lower back and attempting to apologize once more, but she was swiftly shot down.
âthought you wanted me to leave you alone?â you taunted bitterly. you moved over to the stove and slid the diced vegetables into an already simmering pot. she sighed, scratching at the back of her neck.
âbaby, i didnât mean itâ she pleaded âiâd never want you tâleave me alone, i was just upset and i lashed out. it was wrong of meâ
âyea,â you laughed in disbelief, still moving restlessly around the kitchen to display your anger âit wasâ
âcan you just-â she halted to try and find the right words âcan you just stop for a second? pleaseâ
you set-more like carelessly tossed-your cutting board and knife back onto the counter. your head whipped in her direction, shooting her a dissatisfied glare. your sun kissed cheeks were down a darkened red and your brows furrowed downwards, your nose scrunched up and your tongue ran along the insides of your cheeks out of annoyance.
âiâm sorry, im so so sorryâ kate continued once she realized you were listening âwhat i did was incredibly shitty and you donât deserve that. iâm so grateful to have someone who is so willin to help me out and i took that for granted. but i promise i didnât mean it at all and it wonât happen againâ
she pulled her sweet puppy dog eyes on you, beautiful blue irises staring back at you. it genuinely seemed that she felt horrible. you knew kate like the back of your hand, knew that she definitely didnât mean to say something like that. although, it had cut you deep in the heat of the moment and made you feel awful all day. but seeing her so distraught over this, now practically on her knees to beg for your forgiveness, it had you rethinking the validity of your coldness. you could never stay mad at her for long.
âitâs just-â you groaned, fingers coming up to rub at your temples âit just made me feel so mad and you ran out without even apologizingâ
âi know, i know. i shouldnât have done thatâ she gulped, hoping that you would come around âbut i really donât think i can stand ya beinâ mad at me any longer, baby. you gotta forgive meâ
you chuckled at her urgency. it was true, she always felt lost when you were cross with her. a smile worked its way onto your face as you stepped towards her, throwing your arms around her neck. her arms tugged you in closer as she let out a sigh of relief.
âalright, youâre forgivenâ you tilted your head âbut, it better not happen again, got it?â
âgot it. never again, i swear itâ
you got up on your tip toes, your house slippers about to fall off your feet, to kiss her. before you could pull away, though, she had grabbed both sides of your face to kiss you even deeper. you moaned with surprise when her fingers threaded through your hair, tongue slipping into your mouth as she caught you off guard. you indulged in the kiss until you had to pull away for air.
âok, cowboyâ you breathed against her lips âyou gotta let me go, dinners gonna burnâ
âoh, mânever lettin you go ever againâ
If she ever leaves me, it won't be for you
she sat back in her seat, an old wooden rocking chair that matched the one you were in. it was an oddly hot night this june even though the sun had set hours ago and the cold air from the lake was creeping closer. the heat from the bonfire in front of you only added the warmth.
this was one of your favorite things to do, sit outside on the small concrete patio kate had made, roasting marshmallows and taking turns on the guitar as a toasty fire crackled against the humid air. you had the acoustic instrument rested on your knee, a hand woven strap around your shoulder as you lightly plucked the strings rhythmically. you sang quietly along to a song as you looked off across the field and into the mountains, you were in your own world. kate was merely listening, too distracted by your beauty to sing along. the way your lips moved with each lyric, how your nearly manicured nails strummed against the guitar so smoothly.
âwhat?â she snapped from her trance, eyes blinking when she noticed you. she hadnât realized youâd stopped singing, fingers no longer on the guitar. kate cleared her throat as she chewed on the insides of her cheek.
âsânothinâ her hair swaying against her shoulders whilst she shook her head âyouâre just pretty sâallâ
âoh stopâ you giggled, the most infectious thing kate had ever heard. when she died, your laugh would be the last thing sheâd want to hear âthatâs the liquor talkinâ, babeâ
âdefinitely not,â she hated how you never believed her compliments, always denying your own beauty. but that just meant she got to compliment you twice as much to get you to buy into it âi could be sober forever and still think youâre the most breathtaking woman to grace the earthâ
you had now set the guitar down, propping up against the varnished table between the rocking chairs, pushing yourself back and forth by the heel of your boot. you reached your arm over, fingers outreached to kate. she took your hand without hesitation, giving your hand a loving squeeze. the whites of your teeth shined through the darkening sky as you let yourself smile. youâd never get tired of the affection kate showered you with.
âyouâre my everythingâ she whispered to you, thumb mindlessly stroking the backside of your hand.
âand youâre mineâ you replied as you thought your conjoined hands up to your face, kissing her knuckles âmy universeâ
She loves Wild Horses and Tumbling Dice
She don't have a single tattoo
kate remembers the exact moment she met you. when she wandered into the quaint house of a close friend from college, noticing you right away. her friend, caitlin, was having a fairly large get together for her birthday: poker, beer, and pizza. kate typically hated going out and socializing, but rarely ever was she able to say no to good food and a cold glass of cheap beer. she debated not going for the longest time and instead having caitlin over one night for dinner to make up for her absence, not really wanting to get dolled up and leave the comfort of her home. but she forced herself to go anyways, turning the key in the ignition of her truck and making her way down the road.
boy was she glad she did.
you were like a rainbow in the midst of a storm, a rose among thorns sitting there leaned against the back of your chair. the moment caitlin had let her in the house, guiding her into the kitchen to grab her a drink, her eyes were glued to you. your hair was let down down, a leather cowboy hat resting atop your head with a think pink band wrapping around the base. a flannel that was far too big for you swallowed your upper half, leaving kate to only imagine what laid beneath it. she noticed your muddy jeans, how your velvety skin ran across the stiff denim when you doubled over in laughter. you were absolutely radiant, kate didnât need much also to fall head over heels for you.
for the most part, she avoided you all night. her nerves were getting to her, not even having to talk to you to become riddled with anxiety. something about you enchanted her, drew her in like a moth to a flame, but she couldnât bring herself to make an introduction. rather she lingered on the outskirts of the room as she made pointless conversation with mutual friends, eyes wandering just to get a glimpse of you every so often.
then, as kate was talking to small group of people in the living room, caitlin summoned everyone into the kitchen for the poker game. her heart began to race, watching as you followed the crowd of people to the dining room table. kate was the last to funnel through, finding herself straining her neck to find an open seat. and much to her luck, like a sign from the universe, the last open seat was directly next to you. maybe this was meant to be, written in the stars that sheâd sit next to you tonight.
âhey,â she swallowed hard when she tapped on your shoulder, choking back a cough of uncertainty âdâya mind if i sit, maâam?â
you looked back behind you, eyes wandering up kateâs tall figure. you grinned, pulling out the chair a little more so she could sit down.
ânot at all!â she squeezed in between you and the person next to her, arm brushing against yours electrically as she tried to find a comfortable position âi -uh-i donât think weâve met?â
âoh! yea noâ kate felt like she was about to faint, she barely made it past the initial question and now she was already being forced into an introduction? âi went to college with caitlin, weâre pretty close buds, but umâŚi donât go out much so iâm not aroundâ
âreally? thatâs crazy youâve known her for so long!â you said. kate would be forever grateful that you disregarded her awkwardness âi met her a while back when i first moved to town, she helped me get settled in and everythingâ
kate exhaled, the words spewing from your lips hardly retained as she was concentrated on your immense beauty. you voice sounded like honey, everyone elseâs words becoming jumbled in the background.
âsorry, i didnât even tell you my name,â you internally scolded yourself âiâm YNâ
âsânice to meet you, YNâ she nodded, offering a calloused hand out to you. you gladly took it, dainty hand fitting perfectly into her much larger one âmâkateâ
and just like that, such a simple introduction seemed to entice a years worth of conversation. throughout the entire poker game the two of you couldnât seem to stop talking. to be truthful, kate threw the entire game in the first hand just so she could get out as soon as possible to talk to you. youâd be lying if you said you didnât do the same. this didnât go unnoticed by caitlin (or any of the others for that matter), quickly catching on to how her best friend had stuck like glue to you. whilst the rest of them pushed around chips, threw down hards, and occasionally cussing over a bad hand, you and kate sneaked away to the backyard.
âweâre just gettinâ some air, weâll be back bâfore the games overâ, she announced when caitlin asked why you both backed away from the table. caitlin nodded innocently, pretending she didnât know your true intentions. she smiled smugly behind her cards as she watched kate open the back sliding door open for you, placing her hand on your hip to guide you in front of her. suddenly, caitlin felt like a matchmaker.
the air was still, crickets sounding loudly from deep under the trees and bushes of caitlinâs backyard. an owl cooed in the far distance, moonlight beating down onto the lush and green lawn. everything went silent when kate slid the door closed behind you. you were far too scared to say anything, opting to take a seat on the concrete steps and listen to the tranquil sounds of the south. kate plopped down next to you as she let her knee relax just enough to bump into yours. her lips parted, eyes locking with yours, elbows resting on her knees as she fiddled with her fingers in her lap. she wanted to know everything about you, hear every story you had to tell. she had the unexplainable urge for you to consume her every being, needing to know what it was like to love you. she didnât care you had just met, or that you were merely just talking, something inside her told her this was love at first sight.
she had only muttered something along the lines of âi think i could sit here all night with youâ before you were high off chitchatting once again.
maybe an hour passed, maybe 2, you werenât quite sure. time seemed to stop as you sat there talking to kate, the sky growing darker with the lights inside being your only source of light. your butt stung from the roughness of the concrete, but the discomfort didnât seem to cross your mind once as you babbled to kate about everything and anything. from childhood stories, to worse first dates, there didnât seem to be a single topic left out of discussion.
in such a short amount of time, she learned so much about you. how much you adored animals, that you wanted to be a veterinarian when you were little but ultimately not having the money for college. she learned that you loved to bake and thatâs why you moved out to town, to take over your great grandmas bakery on the edge of the valley. you told her about how your favorite thing to make was carrot cake and that youâd love to make one for her sometime, really just an excuse to see her again. she learned that you hated needles, that youâd wanted to get a tattoo last year but ended up chickening out before they could even lay down the stencil. even the little details, like your parents divorce or your close relationship with your brother, she came to know it all. and loved every bit of it. she had never felt so connected to a single soul in her entire life.
âwait wait wait,â kate threw her head back, throat bobbing as she laughed âthereâs no way you did that!â
âitâs true!â you cackled, hand coming to grasp at your chest as you chuckled âi swear to god itâs true!â
âso you mean to tell meâŚâ she tried to get the story straight, tongue darting out slightly as she processed what you had said âthat you got chased down? by a wild horse?â
âyes! my friend bet me 20 bucks to try and get a stupid selfie with it-cause letâs be honest we were 16 and fucking idiots-and i spooked it from behind, and wellâŚit chased me all the way back to my truck!â
âwell youâre a hell of a lot braver than me, i woulda been knocked out cold within a second!â you snickered, luring the most mesmerized grin from kate. she looked back out into the yard when she sensed the mingling was dying down, the air going quiet once again. âyou know i-umâŚthis has been really nice, sittin here talkin to yaâ
âyea,â you tucked a piece of hair behind your ear, still looking at kate even though she had turned âit hasâ
âcould be kinda up front with ya?â kate blurted. she had been contemplating it all night, asking you out and overcoming her fears. but the whole night she couldnât see herself doing it. that was until now, the moment she understood how badly she needed to see you again.
âof course, kateâ
âdo you think i could get your number?â she might faint on the spot, the sudden sour of confidence could send her into cardiac arrest âi mean you definitely donât have to give it tâme at all, i donât know i just thought that-â
âkate,â you laid a hand on her shoulder to get her to ease up, she held her breathe in fear of your possible rejection âi would love to give you my numberâ
and just like that, the rest was history. sheâd remember this moment forever.
She'll drink all the liquor and leave you the ice
kate leaned against the cedar post that held the rickety porch together, weathered and old from so many years of love. her boots, a new pair that you had gotten her for her birthday, left muddy prints on the slats underneath her. she had her arms folded across her chest as her fingers came up to toy with the bolo tie that sat snuggly underneath her collar. it was baby pink, like the band of the hat you were wearing during the night you met. kate was never big on pink, but after meeting you, it became her favorite color.
she was watching you closely, not wanting to miss a single second of the moment. you were out in the front yard near the little flower garden you insisted on starting when you moved in with kate. it stretched along the fence that separated the yard and the plots of land reserved for the rest of the farm. endless species of wildflowers sprouted from the dirt and mulch, other plants you picked from the gardeners market sat freshly planted. you loved that damn garden with everything you had. sometimes kate wondered if you loved your flowers more than her.
dressed in a light green sundress, the one that sat untouched in the back of your closet most days, you stood radiant under the evening sun. there was a cotton apron draped around your waist, you had sewn several pockets into it by hand so that you could carry your supplies in the garden. there wasnât a shoe, sock, nor sandal on your foot either. you claimed to prefer it that way, wanting to feel the earth and âbe one with natureâ. it made kate laugh, seeing your toes sink into the soil. you were on your hands and knees trying to pull the freshly grown weeds, hands wrapping around the base and tugging the roots from their clutch in the ground. kate could make out a line of dirt that spread from your temple to your cheek, most likely from wiping your hand across your sweaty skin. with a groan, you sat back on your knees, tossing the last few weeds into the basket next to you and throwing your head back. you sighed from the excessive heat and the gnawing pain in your forearms. but kate couldnât help but stare at you in awe, whether you were dirty and tired it didnât matter to her. she watched as the neckline of the dress dipped down, your chest heaving, causing the tops of your breasts spill just a tich. kate gulped deeply in astonishment. your pink lips, now red from the amount of times youâve licked them, puckered out as you stretched your neck. it took everything in her to not march over to you, lay you out onto your back, and give the neighbors a show they certainly wouldnât want to see.
âquit starinâ at me you creep!â you hollered across the yard, snapping kate from the trance you had her in. she chuckled under her breath, her arms falling to her sides.
âmâjust appreciatinâ the viewâ she was so good at smooth talking you, always getting you rattled âcanât a woman just admire her gorgeous wife?â
ânot when her womanâs knee deep in weeds and is too tired to make it back to the house!â you pouted, balled fists coming to rest on your hips. you were scolding her now?
she made her way down the cobblestone path, tripping on the stone that stuck out more than the rest. you had asked her to put âfixing that stupid fucking stoneâ on her to-do list earlier in the month, but she had never gotten to it. youâd probably pester her about it again eventually. your mood instantly changed when she stepped foot onto the grass, shaking her head at you jokingly.
âcant believe youâd leave me out here in this blistering heat, makinâ your so called âgorgeous wifeâ sit out here helplesslyâ you nudged again, neck craning up see her clearly.
her face was covered in freckles, darkened from a days work on the farm. her hairy was tied into a braid, strangling hairs whisking around ever which way. you noticed the pink tie on her neck, always smiling when she wore it because you knew she bought it because of you.
âwell iâm here arenât i?â she held both of her hands out to you, offering to help you up âiâd be quite the fool to leave yaâ
âsuch a sweetheartâ you tutted, letting kate yank you from the ground, grunting from the force. with her bewildering strength, you stumbled into her. your arms gripped onto her biceps and hers found the way to your rear, giving you an inviting squeeze âthank you babyâ
she tipped her head to the right, one hand coming up to tangle itself in your hair. her lips met yours momentarily, capturing you in a winded kiss. you squeaked in surprise at her actions, only to accept it immediately after and kissing her back.
âanytimeâ she smirked, nipping your bottom lip as she pulled away âalthough you looked like absolute perfection out hereâŚon your kneesâŚthat pretty little dress ridinâ up your thighs. gettinâ me all hot and bothered, yet youâre the one doinâ the weedingâ
âkeep it in your pants, martinâ you rolled your eyes, trying suppress the butterflies in your stomach. but you could never trick kate, she knew exactly the things she did to you. you hooked your fingers through her belt loops as you began walking backwards towards the house, taking her with you ânow come and help meâ
âhelp you with what? i thought you were done weedin-â
ânot with the weeds sillyâ she looked at you confused. you pursed your lips as you pushed the front door open âwith somethinâ elseâŚthis dress ainât gonna take itself offâ
she groaned, biting down on her tongue. images of what sheâd do to you on a continuous loop in her mind âyou teaseâ
âmaybe,â you shrugged, already making your way down the hall and to the stairs, swaying your hips to egg her on. kate had halted at the bottom of the stairwell, unable to form a complete sentence it seemed âare you coming or not?â
âiâm cominââ she said, following you to the bedroom âjust you wait, darlinâ
âŚThat's too much cologne, she likes perfume

Can you write kate Martin x reader that sheâs completely whipped by but they get into an argument and Kate says something she didnât mean?
Wedding Planning . KM
pairing: kate martin x reader
synopsis: kate says something she doesnât mean and it puts your relationship at risk.
A/N: guys i think this is my favorite kate fic so far
my masterlist
ŕźśâ˘ââŕ¨âĄŕ§âââ˘ŕźś
it had felt like youâve known kate for a lifetime, having been together for 5 years. so naturally, when she proposed to you on your anniversary, you could hardly contain your excitement. there were tears, kissing and laughing (and the best engagement sex ever). it was the absolute best night of your life.
since you were a little girl you had dreamed of your wedding. you were obsessed with wedding dresses and falling in love, constantly imaging what your life was going to look like. when youâd play outside youâd make wedding bouquets out of wild flowers, or when you would draw portraits theyâd always depict you walking down the isle. now that you were grown and engaged to the love of your life, you couldnât wait to get started on planning the wedding.
kate, although she was equally ecstatic to get married, wasnât as keen on wedding planning. she was more laid back with decisions and didnât have any particular opinions on how she wanted it to look. âjust as long as youâre happy, babeâ she would say. you didnât mind all that much, in fact it made your life easier. you had full reign to make your wedding exactly how you had pictured it.
on the downside, it felt like you were doing this all alone when you really wished it was something you two could do together. you just wanted to sit down, after kate came home from practice and you from work, and look through different flowers and centerpieces. you wanted to do cake testings and pick out color schemes. but kateâs answer was always the same when you asked: âwhatever you like, i likeâ.
you knew that possibly couldnât be true. kate was an open book and you knew literally everything about her. there had to be at least one cake flavor she despised or one flower she didnât like, thereâs no way she was fine with anything. sometimes you felt irritated that there werenât any disagreements about the wedding, she accepted any ideas you threw her way and it really bothered you. planning a wedding, throwing a party in honor of your love for one another, should be about what both of you want.
it had already been months since your engagement and the wedding was rolling around quicker than expected. within days, you became stressed and overwhelmed. there were still so many decisions to make, so many people to call, so many things that still needed to be made perfect. these past few weeks have been incredibly hectic, and to no surprise, you felt isolated and alone. perhaps it was just typical bridal anxiety, or maybe it was the fact that your fiancĂŠ wanted nothing to do with helping prepare for your big day.
one late night, around 12 am, you sat on the floor of your shared living room. you had came home late from a night shift at work, waiting up for kate to come home from a night out with the team. with the wedding being so close you decided to spend the extra time tying loose ends and checking things off your to do list. you always waited for kate when she was out late, it was near impossible to sleep without her, so you didnât mind.
there were folders and binders spread on the coffee table in front of you. little scraps of color samples and inspiration pictures took up every square inch, various phone numbers and addresses also scattered every which way. to any outsider, itâd seem like chaos, but you enjoyed the sweet moments of wedding planning.
not long after you organized the floral section of your wedding binder, you heard the lock of the front door click open. it was followed by the creak of the hinges and heavy footsteps. you looked over from your spot on the ground, seeing kate drop her bag at the door and kick her shoes off. she was tired, you could tell, but still buzzing from hanging out with her teammates.
âhey, baby! youâre home!â you smiled as she approached you. she leant down to press a chaste kiss to your lips before setting down on the couch that you sat against.
âhey,â she was slightly out of breath. she was leaning over your shoulder now, eyeing the mess on the table âwedding stuff? this late?â
âyeah, i wanted to keep myself busy while i waited for youâ
âgotchaâ with a monotone response, she was already dismissing you and pulling out her phone. she didnât ask about what you were arranging or what folder you were working on, but instead she was checking instagram?
it made your blood boil slightly, the way that she was completely clueless to anything wedding related.
âwant to help me?â you asked, looking back at her âif youâre gonna be up for a little longer, iâd like the helpâ
âyou know me, babe. iâm really not good with that, youâve got the eye for all of itâ she didnât even bother to make eye contact with you.
âreally?â you choked back a scoff, torn between wanting to be mad and confront her or letting the matter roll over.
âwhat do you mean âreallyâ?â now she was paying attention, typical.
âdonât worry about it, letâs just go to to bedâ you pushed yourself off the floor, putting on your slippers and heading for the stairs. before you could move, however, kate had grabbed your wrist gently to keep you in place.
âwell i am worried,â her face contorted to any angry frown âwhy are you mad all of the sudden?â
âbecause kate, youâre pissing me offâ
âwhat the hell did i do?â
you wanted to scream, the emotion starting to build up inside of you. for months you had been annoyed with how she left all the wedding stuff for you to do. how she didnât even want to be involved in this made you feel like you werenât doing this wedding to proclaim your love, that you were really just doing it for yourself.
it wasnât your intention to pick this fight tonight, but oh god did you just want to get it all off your chest.
âiâm pissed because you donât even want to help with this wedding, kate! you canât even sit down with me for 5 minutes and help me organize a fucking folderâ
âthatâs not true i-â
âno it is!â you didnât even want to hear the bullshit that was bout to spew from her mouth. she remained on the couch, jaw clenched in anger as you cut her off âevery time i ask you to do something, you blow me off and leave me to do it by myself! you have no interest in doing any of it with meâ
âbabe, iâm just not good at that stuff. i thought you wanted to plan this?â she was chewing at the inside of her cheeks now, you could tell she was trying to avoid this conversation.
âwith you! i want to plan this with you! but for some reason you want no part in it! i have asked time and time again for a little help in hopes that youâd become interested in it. because in all honesty, kate, i donât even care about the wedding being perfect. i just want to do it with you! i want you to care and to go to run wedding errands with me, i want you to want to do it with me, but you donât even give a shit!â
her face started to turn red with annoyance, eyes pressed shut. her large hands covered her face as the ran down her cheeks. she was practically huffing as she sat there listening to you completely hound her for her disinterest.
âyou havenât even asked me about what flowers i decided to go with or shown any fucking interest in my god damn dress. my dress, kate, the part that iâm most excited for. you donât even care about that and it hurts. and you dont ev-â
âjesus, i donât care about the fucking wedding, YN!â
she could have just punched you right in the face, it probably would have hurt less than hearing her say that. your heart dropped, noticing how she was seething in rage. jaw still clenched, hands tugging at the roots of her hair, trying to calm herself down.
your eyes welled with tears, body frozen as you tried to process what just happened. she she really not care at all? it didnât take long for the tears to start spilling, running down your cheeks in heavy cascades. a sob struck your body, you tired to bite your lip to hold it back but it was no use.
âgreat,â you muttered. she finally looked up at, body softening when she realized what she said âglad i know how you feelâ
âbabyâŚâ she stood up abruptly, trying to come over to you.
âsave it, itâs clear that you donât care about the weddingâ more sobs took over you, it killed kate to see you like this. she was kicking herself internally for even thinking that. why did she say that?
âif itâs really that big of a dealâ you stepped back when kate tried to reach for you hand to apologize âthen letâs just call the whole thing offâ
âYN, noâ she begged, tears of her own building up âbaby come on, i didnât mean it, donât say thatâ
âwhy not? i mean you donât have any interest in it. like at all, not even enough to spend time with me to do it. so letâs just call itâ
âi donât want to call it offâ her lips contorted to a frown âi wouldnât have proposed if i didnât want to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you. honey please, i donât want to call it offâ
âyouâre not acting like itâ is all you could say, you were truly speechless at this point. âwhy scream at me that you âdonât care about the weddingâ when iâm trying to express my feelings to you if you donât want to call it offâ
âbecause iâm a fucking idiotâ her voice wobbled as she began to cry. the pattern of her tears mimicking yours âi donât know why i said that, itâs not true even in the slightest. iâve just been so stressed with everything recently and stuff with the wedding has just been so overwhelming, but at the end of the day i just want to marry you, baby. thatâs no excuse, iâll admit that i havenât been a very good fiancĂŠâ
âno you havenâtâ you crossed your arms, wiping away some of your tears âi know things are stressfulâŚand i get that, but you donât even seem interested. like you donât want to do this with meâ
âi do,â another wave of sadness washes over her âi think iâm just scared. things are happening so quick and change makes me nervousâŚour life is so perfect and iâm worried that iâm gonna fuck it up somehow. whether itâs planning the wedding or being a shitty wife, i feel like im going to failâ
âkateâŚâ you swallowed deeply. it sent another pang to your heart knowing that this is how she felt all along âis that really how you feel? like youâre going to fail?â
she nodded, sniffling as she looked down at her feet in embarrassment. you ran over to her in an instant to pull her into your arms. she collapsed into your body, arms wrapping around your waist, chin sitting atop your shoulder as she cried to you. your hands rubbed her back smoothly, letting her get all of it out.
âiâm sorry, iâm so sorry that iâve been so shittyâ you could feel your shirt dampen with teardrops âyou donât deserve any of this. i canât believe i said i donât care, i never meant it, i swearâ
âhey hey hey,â your hand now finding the back of her head, running your fingers through her hair âitâs going to be ok, i get it, we can work past that. but the last thing i want is for you to feel like youâre going to be a shitty wife. baby, i donât think you could be a bad wife even if you triedâ
âyouâre just saying thatâ
âiâm not! i mean it! youâre the love of my life and i think youâre perfect inside and out. i wouldnât have said yes if i didnât accept every part of you. weâll have ups and downs like everyone does, but that doesnât mean i donât still love you and it certainly doesnât make you a shitty wifeâ
she released you from the hug when you took ahold of her shoulders. you ran your palms up and down her biceps before moving to her face, fingers grazing her cheekbones.
âitâs going to be ok, alright?â you cracked a smile, pressing a kiss to her forehead as you got up on your tip toes.
âiâm sorry, i love you so muchâ she pulled you in for a real kiss, this time, lips coming into contact with yours.
âi love you tooâ
after that night, kate made it her mission to change. she started helping out more, like you had asked, but she was also doing things on her own. kate picked out her suit, called the wedding photographer, and a handful of other things on your list. it was clear to you now that she just needed reassurance. it was going to take sometime to recover from what she had said to you, but you knew none of it was true and it was something you could work past.
you just wanted to marry your girl.
and marry her, you did.

hiiiii PLSS KATE MARTIN ANGST!!!! đĽ°đĽ°
âËŕˇâ§âË â
* â§â- ,, illicit affairs,,
kate martin x fem!reader
(not spell checked.. are you surprised?)
it was doomed from the start, when you told kate it had to be a secret.
she had somehow weaseled her way into your life, immediately finding a keen liking for you. for some reason you let her; you let her break your walls down until there was nothing left between you but unspoken feelings of love and admiration. it was inevitable when she kissed you, making it impossible for you to reject her advances because, secretly, you wanted her just as bad.
but no one could know. no one knew.
make sure nobody sees you leave,
hood over your head,
keep your eyes down.
you were running through the dorm parking lot belonging to the building kate lived in. your hoodie was pulled up over your head, draw-strings tugged taught until you could hardly see. kate watched you through her window, the weight of your shared secret making her feel heavy.
she hated seeing you go like thisâ rushed and panicked with the news that her team was coming back to the dorms earlier than originally planned. her hoodie engulfed you, creating a safe and secret place for you as you crossed the parking lot, eyes downcast as you make your way to your car.
youâd finally been able to come over to her dorm after weeks of hardly seeing her at all. not even moments ago your limbs were tangled with hers, soft kisses and a sloppy make out transpired between the two of you.
her whole team was out, celebrating a win that kate would rather miss if it meant she got some alone time with you. the time with you ended up being short-lived though. not even a full hour had passed before kate received a text from caitlin informing her everyone was going to check in early tonight.
disappointment was etched in her face as you pulled out of her embrace, quickly collecting your things to leave. all she had left was a chaste kiss on the lips and a sweetly whispered goodbye that rang in her ears as she watched your car disappear into the darkness.
what started in beautiful rooms
ends with meetings in parking lots
âiâm sorry we had to meet like this.. i thought the team wouldâve been gone tonight.â kate sighs, letting her hands slip off of her steering wheel as you step inside her car.
you could tell she was tired. her hair was messily tied back, dark circles sagging under her eyes as she rubbed them. assuming it was pressure from the very demanding basketball season, you reached out, intertwining your delicate fingers with her calloused ones.
âhey, itâs okay. as long as i get to see you, it doesnât matter where i am.â
that makes kate smile, her gaze breaking away from the rain-soaked parking lot. her relief only lasts a few seconds and is gone before you could even catch it. of course she was happy to just see you, but realizing her relationship with you has trickled down to these sort of meetings, it kills her.
you used to come to her games. you used to hangout with her and the team. you used to be seen in public together, when you were friends. and now, when you were supposed to be closer than ever, none of that seemed like a possibility anymore. it was killing kate. because now this was almost as good as it gets; secret meetings in an empty parking lot past ten oâclock at night.
kate remembers meeting you for the first time, how different things were then. she remembers meeting you in the warm and dim lights of the library late at night, catching up on late work and trying to escape the distractions of the dorm. but then she saw you. she really couldnât help it when she started to stare, watching as the light and itâs shadow cast different shades of color over your face as you moved.
the library had been beautiful that time of night, kate always thought so. but not as beautiful as you.
leave the perfume on the shelf
that you picked out just for her
so you leave no trace behind
like you donât even exist
itâd been awhile since kate even uttered your name in front of her friends. the fear of giving something away loomed over her head like a dark cloud, rain threatening to spill at any moment. it wasnât until kate came home late after a night with you that your nervous activity started.
caitlin was sitting in the common area when kate got back, motioning her to come sit with a gentle pat of the cushion next to her. your girlfriend was in good spirits so she gave in without hesitation, coming to sit next to caitlin on the couch as she watched a late night basketball game.
âwhereâve you been?â caitlin asked suspiciously, turning her nose in her friendâs direction.
âjust out.â
âwith y/n?â
kate goes stoic, eyes trained on the wall while her previously bouncing leg stands still. she hasnât been expecting that, what gave it away?
âwhat? no, we donât really.. hang out anymore.â
âyou smell like her.â caitlin presses in dangerous territory and she knows it. you seemed to be a sensitive subject in kateâs life now, and she had no idea why.
kate shrugs before quickly standing up. she was desperate to escape from this conversation because somehow, caitlin always knows. and she canât know about this. thatâs why when kate shuts her door with a soft click she texts you immediately with a link to a new perfume, offering to buy it for you. she couldnât tell you about what happened. youâd freak out, go into hiding away from kate for a little while.
so she doesnât.
she buys you the new perfume and you replace it with the old one, the one that happened to be her favorite. the one she knew you used to wear just for her.
it was safer this way. caitlin couldnât trace any scent back to you now. she couldnât trace anything back to you anymore. a big part of kate hated that, but a smaller part of her knew it was better for you, so she settled.
take the words for what they are
a dwindling mercurial high
a drug that only worked
the first few hundred times
âkate, i just need time.â
it was a hushed whisper, one that kate has heard before. she believed it before, and part of her still does. but each time she loses hope, her fingers slip until sheâs hanging on by her fingernails.
you promised kate it wouldnât be like this forever. one dayâ soon you claimed, the two of you wouldnât have to love in secret.
âkate iâve never loved anyone the way i love you,â youâd whisper genuinely and sheâd be hooked, fully trusting and forcefully patient. there was nothing she loved more than you, not even basketball, and sheâd wait forever to be able to tell everyone that, even when it was having an undeniable impact on her mental state.
âi know.â she whispers back, lips moving against your skin as she tries to become one with you.
it was so hard to remember all the lost promises and time when you were holding her like this. hands in her hair, coddling against her and cradling her head into your chest. it was as if you were massaging all the past memories of empty words out of her brain, trying to make her forget about how you said all of this months ago.
and a couple months after that youâd whisper the same sweet nothings.
âyou keep saying that..â
âand i mean it, kate.â
she stares at you, eyes turning to oceans full of complex and conflicting feelings. she was upset, disappointed, angry, and betrayed.
âlook i understand what itâs like to come out. iâve been there and i understand if youâre not ready, but donât tell me you are.â
her first tear slips along with her conviction.
âkate.. iâm sorry,â you whisper, reaching out to wipe her tears away and she physically softens into your touch. âplease donât give up on me.â
and it was working again. your words, whether they were honest or not, had an affect on kate that made her stay. sheâd always stay as long as you asked. somewhere deep down kate knew she was crumbling from the inside out. she was growing restless, a sinking feeling of hopelessness consuming her each time you failed to follow through on your promises. the promises you made while entangling your pinky with hers, kissing delicately along her knuckles.
and thatâs the thing about illicit affairs
and clandestine meetings and stolen stares
they show their truth one single time
but they lie, and they lie, and they lie,
a million little times
kate glanced your way longingly, watching silently as you interacted with the people around you. she wished so deeply it could be her so close to you, demanding attention and hearing your sweet laugh.
but it wasnât. and despite what you said, she knew it probably wouldnât be her for a long time.
kate felt so real when she was with you. so pure, who she was meant to be at her core. being with you was so real for kate, all her feelings and commitments, all the promises and conflicts were real.
but it was a lie.
every time sheâd avoid your gaze or pretend like she didnât know you, it was a lie. lying to her friends about you, her family, or anyone who asked. sheâd lie and say yes if anyone asked about her being single. sheâd lie about you.
it drained kate. she couldnât fathom the idea that this was all per your request. deliberate decisions made by you to deceive everyone around you. kate was like your little affair, a secret you kept hidden away from the world so you could still have your fun elsewhere.
kate was your lie, and you were hers.
when you finally made eye contact with her she broke. all her buried resentment and defeat, all the fake promises and compromises, all the secrecy, all the hurt and confusion, all the insecurity, all the buried thoughts that haunted kate glared back at you.
but she saw it in you too. the weight of your lies and the pain of the truth. not only were you lying to everyone about kate, you were lying about yourself, to yourself.
and you wanna scream
donât call me âkidâ
donât call me âbabyâ
kateâs head was deep in her hands, sobbing as shaky fingers pulled at the roots of her hair. for some reason she never saw this coming. the hopeful and innocent part of kate always thought itâd work out, that youâd work it out together. like you always said.
but youâd broken up with her. the stress of your secret relationship finally catching up. this couldnât last forever, and you realized youâd never come out like kate wanted you to. it wasnât fair to her. it wasnât fair to expect her to be okay with being hidden. thatâs what you told yourself to feel like less of a coward.
you could see she was freaking out. it took a lot to speak again, too afraid and shameful. too scared youâd make it worse.
âbaby iâm so sorry, im so sorry.â
kate squeezes her eyes shut painfully. the word rings like a mantra through her ears, seeping into her soul where it freezes her feelings and numbs her mind. she shakes her head before looking back up at you with a face contorted by hurt.
âdonât call me that.â
âkate..â
âdonât call me that. seriously.â
you stare silently, guilt-ridden eyes shamefully gazing on her soft features, made even softer by the shine of her tear-stained cheeks and red puffy eyes. this was the hardest thing youâve ever done. looking at her made you want to change your mind, to take it all back cruelly but you knew you couldnât.
if you couldnât accept who you were, how could anyone else?
âhow could you do this to me? câmon, i mean, i was there, through everything. i love you with everything i have. i mean.. i canât even.. you promised me this wouldnât happen. you promised.â
look at this idiotic fool that you made me
you taught me a secret language i canât speak with anyone else
kate felt like a fool. she shouldâve known better.
every time sheâd make a harmless joke about you being a lesbian and you denied it, she shouldâve known. every time youâd claim you were ready to come out to your parents but never did, she shouldâve known. she shouldâve seen it coming a mile away.
she couldâve, if she hadnât chosen willful ignorance. but she decided she would rather have your love in private than not at all.
but now she had nothing and could tell no one.
she couldnât tell anyone about you even if it was over. but caitlin didnât need to be told twice, or even once. she knew where kate had been going late at night, she knew about the longing looks from across the room. she also saw your text to kate asking to talk.
thatâs why she slipped into her best friendâs room that night when she got back home. to hold her as she cried, tell her it was okay and she was there for her.
âi love her so much caitlin.â kate choked out, crying all over again when the image of you in her bed only a few weeks ago flashed through her brain. a cruel memory.
âi know kate. you always love too much.â
and that pattern repeated for weeks, a concerning amount of time that even caitlin was restless. it happened almost every night like clockwork; kate would get back from her self-inflicted extra practice looking exhausted and battered, fleeing to her room without a single word and about ten minutes later sheâd attempt to muffle her sobs into her pillow. the pillow that somehow still smelt like the perfume kate bought you.
walking through day-to-day life became harder for kate. no one understood the stupid inside jokes you built together, or the gesture of kissing fingertips you started together.
caitlin forced her friend out into the social world and it only took one conversation to break kate down into a reminiscing mess. objectively there was nothing wrong with the girl other than the fact that she wasnât you. no one would ever understand kate the way you had, and sheâs certain no man would ever understand you the way she had.
kate had to mourn the loss of your love and the connection that came with it. the unique diction you had built together. that one of a kind love could only be found with you, the girl that denied ever loving a woman.
you were a self-proclaimed straight woman. but kate knew, behind closed doors, behind her doors, you were far from it.
and you know damn well
for you, i would ruin myself
a million little times
after awhile kate could finally claim sheâd gotten better.
she was enjoying her social life again. going out to bars and clubs, going to team parties, going shopping and playing basketball. sheâd even visited home, getting the secret of you off of her chest to her mother.
she slowly eased herself back into normality, following a similar routine to the one she had before you.
the issue was, kate is no longer who she was before she met you. sheâd never be that rational woman again. sheâd never be able to say no to you again. but that didnât occur to her, and if it did she wouldnât mind much because she never thought sheâd have to.
itâd been months since she saw you.
but suddenly you appeared across the room, lifting your head before meeting kateâs wide eyes. she knew she was doomed when you waved, a soft smile on your face when she waved back. that lasted for a few moments; stealing glances at each other from across the room before you made your way over.
âhey kate.â it was sweet, like a voice dipped in honey.
âhey..â
âkate, iâve really been wanting to talk to you. iâm really sorry for how everything happened.â
she looked down at you, draped in your pretty outfit with your pretty hair and your pretty eyes. you sounded so genuine, and she wondered desperately what you wanted to talk about.
âdo you wanna come to my place tonight?â she asked, curious and hopeful.
âhow about mine?â
âoh, yeah.. sure.â
and kate knew. she knew nothing had changed. you were still the same old you, and she was still the same old her.
sheâd go through it all again for you. a million times over.

Boys workin' on empty
Is that the kinda way to face the burnin' heat?
kate was exhausted to say the least. practices, gamesâŚeverything was really weighing down on her. she had so much on her plate all the time and it often got to be too much for her to handle. there was a lot of stress on her recently, being drafted and being the new girl on the team. she bared the overwhelming feeling of having to impress everyone, prove that she could handle it. and deep down she knew she could. kate was strong and smart and resilient, but her biggest fear was letting people down. letting you down.
thatâs why, during times like this, she turned to you. her biggest supporter, her number one fan, her everything. you had been with her since the beginning. you were there for every meltdown and all the late nights spent in tears when kate felt like a failure. you were there for every loss and every win, there to clean up her nasty bruises and cuts. and now you were here to guide her through this huge change in her life. she wouldnât be able to count on her fingers the amount of times you had truly saved her in the midst of all this. kate struggled with change, hated how she felt like she needed to start over with a whole new team and a whole new life. but you were there to remind her that nothing was going to change, you would still be with her every step of the way. all she needed was you, the most important thing in her life.
you were the reason she got up in the morning. you were the reason she kept pushing even when she felt like giving up. because she knew that at the end of the day, youâd be there with her, arms holding her tight to ground her. that youâd never leave her and, for that, she wanted to make you proud.
I just think about my baby
I'm so full of love, I could barely eat
she was gone for the week, in another state for an away game. but a week was 7 days too long for kate, she couldnât stand being away from you. she remembers the night before she left, how she was packing her things unwillingly as you made sure she had everything in her bag. you were trying so hard to get her excited, it was going to be one of her first games upon her pro-ball debut and you had assumed sheâd be ecstatic. but instead she was sulking (typical kate), talking about how much she was going to miss you.
âi canât believe youâre about to go live out your life long dream and youâre sitting here poutingâ you teased. she knew you were right, and she really was quite excited, but the thought that you wouldnât be there killed her.
normally you would attend like you always did, but you needed to take the week to focus on finishing up school. kate admired the way you prioritized your studies, but there were times like these in which she cursed your determination. all she wanted was to see you out there, amongst the crowd, cheering her on. a big â20â plastered on your shirt to show your support and a gratifying smile on your face. you were her lucky charm, she would say. but now she here, far from home and missing her girl.
it was the night before the game and kate and the team had opted for a nice dinner out. something to hype everyone up and to boost moraleâŚwell thatâs what she was told. but it did little to cheer her up and get her excited. she dreaded leaving her lonely hotel room, somewhat dim and weary without you there with her. it had been a long time since she stayed in a room without you. kate had to fight her own mind to attend dinner with the girls, just wanting to stay in and facetime you instead. nevertheless, she managed to get dressed up and make an appearance.
the entire night she was miserable, as expected. she wanted to join in on the conversations, talk about what her teammates were talking about. but she couldnât help but feel sorry for herself. she was still jet lagged, tired, nervous, and definitely missing you. she couldnât even eat her food because she couldnât focus on anything else but the image of you. memories of your relationship flooded her mind as she messed with the food on her plate, all she wanted was to go back home.
not able to stand it anymore, she made some excuse about being sick so she could leave. she packed up the leftovers to bring back to her hotel room and bid everyone a good night. her time would be much better spent texting or calling you than feeling sorry for herself at the table.
finally, she made it back to her room. without a second thought she was changing her clothes and crawling into bed, pulling out her phone and pulling up your contact. she had no hesitation in clicking on the âfacetimeâ button.
the phone rang several times, making her worried that you had already gone to bed for the night. but, on the 4th ring, the call went through and your face appeared on the screen. it was a gorgeous sight, she thought, seeing you there. you had taken off your makeup already, pulled your hair back, and tucked yourself into your shared bed. oh how she longed to be in that bed right now. you had instantly smiled when you saw kateâs face, making her heart ache for you.
âhi baby!â you chimed.
and thatâs all she needed to hear. all of her worries, doubts, all of her anxiety was out the window now. she had just wanted an ounce of your attention all day, and at last, she could relax finally having it.
There's nothin' sweeter than my baby
I'd never want once from the cherry tree
âwhat did you say?â kate whispered, so shocked that she could hardly speak.
tonight was not a usual one. you had come home upset and stressed out, the past few days youâd been struggling with your mental health. it wasnât often that you had difficult days, but when you did, kate was at your side and ready to help you in whatever way you needed. but tonight you felt inconsolable.
with kate becoming more popular in the media with her upcoming career, there had been a lot of press coverage. you actually hadnât had an issue with it, you were thrilled for her to see that she was getting so much attention. but with the praise and positivity online also came the negative parts as well. you had seen a few articles and instagram posts concerning yours and kateâs relationship. seeing your name in bold headlines caught your attention. it was a bunch of nonsense, really, some random person online blabbering about nothing. they were clearly bothered by the fact that you and kate were very much in love, writing about how âkate could find someone much betterâ or how she âshould be with someone in her own leagueâ. you tried to remind yourself of how foolish that was, kate loved you deeply and wouldnât ever think of leaving you for someone else. but, with your history of self image issues and mental health, it was hard to believe it yourself.
âi said,â you were both sat on the couch, thighs barely touching. tears streamed down your face as you had your head turned away from kate. you had seen another one of those damned articles earlier and it seemed to be your breaking point, sending you into a fit of sorrow âi said i donât know why youâre still with meâ
the statement had caught her quite off guard. how could you possibly think such a thing? had kate done something? were you suddenly falling out of love? her heart was shattering as she sat there, desperately trying to figure out what had gotten you upset.
âbaby,â her hand found its way to your cheek, gently guiding your head to turn back to her. your eyes were red and your lashes damp as you locked eyes with her âhow could you say that? i love you more than anything in the world-i donât understandâ
âi justâŚiâve been seeing all of those posts about us, kateâ sobs racked your body and you hiccuped to try and catch your breathe âi see all the things they say about us and i canât help but feel like you deserve more than meâ
she had known about those posts for some time now, since she saw you inspecting one the other day. it broke her knowing you were indulging in all the ridiculous things people were saying about your relationship.
âhey hey heyâ she wrapped an arm around you, forcing you to move closer to her âi donât want anyone but you, got it? you have no idea how fucking in love with you i amâ
a scoff fell from your lips briefly before you shook your head. you wanted to believe her, but your mind was so convinced otherwise âyouâre just saying thatâ
âwell allow me to enlighten you then?â she prodded, wiping the tears from under yours eyes. with reluctance, you nodded.
âi have never loved someone so much in my lifeâ she began âi donât even know where to start because thereâs so much i love about you that it would take forever to say it all. i love the way you love me. how you take care of me all the time without me having to ask. how you make me breakfast in bed and how you brush my hair before we fall asleep. i love how you send me pictures of cute things you see in the store when you should really only be getting groceries. i love that you cry during movies even if itâs supposed to be happy because it shows how deeply you love things. and i love that you always think of people, even though that sometimes means you forget to take care of yourself. but i love that too, i love that i get to be the person that shows you how much love you deserve. that i get to sit here on nights like these and tell you how wonderful you are. because itâs true. honey, you are the best thing that has every happened to me and iâd be fucking crazy to let you goâ
she let out a deep sigh, having lost her breath from her confession. if she had anymore air in her, sheâd still be rambling on and on. the two of you stared at each other for a faint moment, her blue eyes gleaming back at you. your bottom lip quivered as another tear rolled down your cheek, although this time, it was a cry of joy.
âkate martin,â you muttered, almost speechless âi love you so so muchâ
she just chuckled softly and smiled at you. she guided you into a much needed hug, feeling your head tuck itself underneath her chin and your arms fall over her shoulders.
âi love you a thousand times moreâ
'Cause my baby's sweet as can be
She'd give me toothaches just from kissin' me
it was dark outside already, signifying the late hours of the night. you werenât sure what time it was, definitely late enough that you should be asleep. but instead you and kate were both still up.
the orangey glow from your bedside lamp illuminated your bodies, creating silhouettes on the bedroom wall. kate was laid against the bed, back against the headboard and head tilted back. you were hovering over her as you straddled her waist with legs on either side of her figure. your head dipped down to her exposed neck, lips connecting lazily to her supple skin. eager hands roamed her shoulders and down the sides of her torso. her hands did the same, anxious to touch you wherever she could.
this was another instance in which kate unfortunately had to be away from home for an extended period of time. like every other time, she thought about returning home to you every second that she was gone. she hated not being able to touch you, to feel you, to know that you were right by her side. you had also been yearning for her arrival and hated her absence just as much. so when she was on her way home, she knew she would be having her way with you that night, no matter how late it might be. it may have been well into the early hours of this morning at this point, but the need to be with each other was a far greater need than sleep.
when she stepped foot in that house, she was already dropping her bags at the door and ridding of her shoes. sock clad feet marched quietly up the stairs as she began imagining kissing you for the first time in over a week. she pushed the door to your room open ever so gently, taking in your inviting presence. you had been fighting sleep, she could tell. your eyes peeking through low eyelids, hair messy from laying against the pillows, your lips turned in a sloppy smile. what a sight for sore eyes.
she was tempted to tell you to go to sleep, to get some rest that she knew you needed. but you were already sitting up and crawling over to her side of the bed where she now stood. one of her oversized tshirts hung loosely on your body, your lacey panties emerging from the bottom. before she had the chance to do so much as greet you, your hands were gripping her shirt and tugging her into you. soft lips molded into hers as you frantically kissed her. she took it as a sign that you needed her just as much as she needed you. so she let herself indulge, slithering into bed with you. articles of clothing were discarded to floor. your shirt thrown over your shoulder, kateâs sweatpants and top banished to a pile next to the bed.
now you were here, idly making out, taking each other in as much as possible. one might think you hadnât seen one another in years by the way you both were acting. your bare chests were pressed together, creating arousing friction. kateâs fingers dug into the soft skin of your ass where her fingernails left small indents. she was breathing heavily and groaning as you left dark purple marks along her collarbone and the tops of her breasts, a reminder of your devotion. her hands pressed deeper into you, guiding your hips in a smooth rhythm of grinding against her lap. the room felt hot from the breathy moans and content sighs.
once you decided you were done marking the skin of kateâs chest, you made your way back to her lips. both of you were too tired to do anything other than this, just needing to be close to each other. not that you needed much else, having her lips on yours was enough to keep you satisfied. it was like your lips were meant for hers. they fit so perfectly together, moved against yours in the most delicious way.
kate let out another moan as she felt your lips grace hers. the sensation sent shivers through her veins. kissing you had to be the best feeling in the world to her. sometimes she felt sorry for the rest of the world, because what a sad life it would be to not know what it would be like to kiss you. and at the same time she felt so damn lucky that it was her, and only her, that got to know what this felt like.
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold, dark earth
No grave can hold my body downâŚ
âi hope you know that iâm absolutely head over heels for you,â she said next to you âyou do know that, right?â
you hummed in response, nose scrunching as you looked at her. the amount of guests at your wedding must have been well into the one hundreds, but right here in this moment, it was just the two of you.
underneath a sky full stars was the makeshift dance floor of your wedding venue, marbled tiles beneath your feet. twinkling lights lit up the quaint garden of your backyard that you and kate both decided would be the perfect place to hold your reception. it was the middle of your first dance as a married couple and it was the most perfect moment of your life. your dress swayed behind you in the breeze, hair cascading around your face elegantly. kate looked even more beautiful than she normally did, if that was even possible. both of her hands rested on your waist and your arms looped around her neck as you danced across the floor slowly. your wedding playlist sounded in the distance and your families were watching you with teary eyes, but you and kate were only focused on each other.
âi do,â you replied âi hope you know that iâm also madly in love with youâ
âi doâ she had repeated like she did during her declaration of intent at the ceremony. you would never forget the look on her face when sheâd said it for the first time âiâm never going to get tired of thisâ
âof what? our first dance?â you laughed, head falling back briefly âhate to break it to you, babe, but i think itâs gonna have to end at some pointâ
she laughed too, shaking her head. she pulled you in closer as her eyes wandered over the features of your face.
ânoâ she grinned âof looking at youâ
your face was already turning a bright shade of pink, you could feel it as you smiled, but you didnât mind one bit. you let your arms fall from around her neck as you heard the song of your dance come to an end.
your hands traveled up to take her face in your hands, something you have done often, a small action of your love. they directed her face to drop down to your level. you got onto the tips of your toes to meet her half way, kissing her passionately like your life depended on it. both of you smiled into the kiss, hearing everyone around you cheer as your dance concluded.
and, god, did it feel good to be loved like this.
âŚI'll crawl home to her
ŕźśâ˘ââŕ¨âĄŕ§âââ˘ŕźś
A/N: i feel like this started out so good, but then i kinda fucked it up at the end, but i hope you all like it !!

kate martin x girly reader and readers pet name for kate is âbearâ because sheâs so big and cuddly and reader calls kate âbearâ in front of her teammates after kates game and they all tease her for it
Bear . KM
pairing: kate martin x reader
synopsis: your little nickname for kate has quite the impression on the team
ŕźśâ˘ââŕ¨âĄŕ§âââ˘ŕźś
you donât really know when it started, but it just stuck. the idea to call kate âbearâ conjured in your mind one evening, when you were laid atop kateâs chest with her strong arms wrapped around you. she towered over you in height by quite a lot and was the biggest, cuddliest, clingiest girlfriend to ever exist so what better pet name than âbearâ?
âlove you, bearâ you had mumbled one night, yawning and drowsy. you offered her a toothy grin while your eyes fought to stay open.
you and kate had just gotten home from a night out, only leaving as early as you did because you were absolutely exhausted and about to fall asleep in the booth. your girlfriend had so graciously helped you back to your shared apartment where she dressed you into your pajamas and tucked you into bed.
âbear?â she questioned, climbing into bed next to you, letting your head fall onto her shoulder.
âmmm yeaâ you giggled, definitely almost sleep by now âyouâre like my big strong cuddly bear, i jusâ love you sâmuchâ
she chuckled to herself, finally hearing your gentle snores. kate thought it was sweet how you had come up with the pet name, loved that you were thinking of her. so she encouraged it, obsessed with the way it had sounded coming from your lips.
the buzzer had sounded, declaring the end of a wonderful game for iowa. the girls had won by a landslide against the other team. you had watched from the sidelines, like you always did, cheering the entire night as your girlfriend kicked ass.
when the teams post-game celebrations died down, family and friends crowded the arena floor. you followed suit as you pushed past groups of people to try and find kate. she was across the floor, glowing with excitement and talking to the team.
you bolted over towards her, calling out her name to grab her attention. she turned with the biggest smile on her face to see you approaching her. seeing you after a big win was one of her favorite feelings.
she let out a soft âhmphâ as you jumped into her, arms wrapping around her neck, kateâs large hands finding the small of your back. her nose nudged against your neck as she hugged you deeply.
âyou did so good, bear!â you praised, pulling away from the hug to kiss her cheek âiâm so proud of you!â
âthanks babyâ she said, holding your waist to keep you at her side.
âbear, huh?â caitlin teased âis that what weâre calling you now?â
the team laughed, making harmless jokes about the nickname you had for kate.
âshut upâ kate chuckled back âthat name is reserved for YN and YN onlyâ
you felt a faint heat form on your cheeks, turning them a shade of scarlet. the jokes didnât bother you at all, but you really did enjoy how she was quick to take full possession of the name.
âwhat about teddy? teddy bear? can we call you that?â gabbie chimed in âour big olâ teddy bear!â
âwhatever, you wish!â kate responded, shoving her playfully.
after a bit more teasing she finally started saying her farewells for the night âhey, i think weâre gonna head out, but iâll see you guys tomorrowâ
they all nodded, hugging her before she dragged you off the arena floor. you congratulated her again as you made your way to the car to drive home, making sure she knew how proud you are of her.
the apartment was quiet when you arrived home. kate dropped her things at the door before hopping into a hot shower before bed. you, even though she practically pleaded for you to join her, opted for getting cozy in bed. you listened to the flow of the water stop, listened to her follow her nightly routine to a âtâ as you scrolled on your phone. when she finally emerged from the bathroom, hot steam trailing behind her, you were still awake.
âstill up?â kate asked, already under the covers.
âcanât fall asleep without you, bearâ you smiled. she looked down at you, biting her lip when she heard it. she would listen to you calling her bear on repeat if she could.
âi love you so much, yâknow that?â
âalways,â you replied âi love you so much moreâ

So so you wanted a small town reader request so I thought of this one. She sheâs from a southern small town and plays basketball for the SEC team of her state, she really made a name for herself there, but wants to broaden her horizons so she enters the transfer portal and somehow ends up in Iowa where meet Kate who is OBSESSED with her southern accent. Then itâs just Kate trying to show her interest bc reader is totally oblivious until one of their teammates says something
Southern Charm . KM
pairing: kate martin x reader
synopsis: after transferring to iowaâs basketball team to broaden your horizons, you end up meeting someone who changes your life
A/N: i got a request to do another country fic like this one with kate, so expect one with âcountry kateâ here soon!
also, iâm not very proud of this one so iâm sorry if itâs genuinely shitty lol :â)
NOT PROOF READ
ŕźśâ˘ââŕ¨âĄŕ§âââ˘ŕźś
ever since you were little, maybe 7 or 8, you were fascinated with basketball. growing up in texas you were exposed to a large following of sports and hard core fans. your family was always repping the pro and college teams of your state with pride, attending several games throughout your childhood. basketball in particular held a special place in your heart. you remember watching the university of texasâ basketball games with your dad, absolutely enthralled by the game. it didnât take long for your parents to get you involved in the sport. you played in small teams as a kid then on your schools girls basketball teams in middle and high school. and with a lot of hard work and determination, you got into the university of texas to play on their womenâs team.
while playing for the university, you made quite the impression on basketball fans. you were quick, had unbelievable stats, and extremely adaptable. you were a pretty valuable player in most eyes. but after two years at the school, you started to feel restricted. there wasnât a whole lot for you to improve on your skills so you made a drastic decision to enter the transfer portal.
it was an emotional decision. realizing you would be leaving teammates behind as well as your home state was hard, but you longed for something greater. not long after entering the portal, you had transferred to the university of Iowa. you were ecstatic despite having to move away. it was time to broaden your horizons and hopefully expand upon your skill set.
ËËË Â´ËË
you had arrived in iowa around a week ago and you were still adjusting. figuring out where all of the buildings were, where the dining halls were located, was a lot for you to handle. hell you could barely remember how to get to your dorm at this point.
you havenât even met your new teammates, practices not starting up for a couple of days. the anticipation had you extremely nervous.
what if they didnât like you?
what if they thought you sucked?
the days leading up to your first practice were consumed with these uncontrollable thoughts. but as you laced up your shoes and grabbed your duffel bag, heading out the door, you felt those nagging thoughts dissipate.
when you arrived for practice, opening the large metal doors to the gym, it almost felt like you were right back at home. you wandered over to where the team was warming up, hearing the squeak of the polished floors. quickly, looking up from her clipboard, bluder spotted you a few feet ahead. she met you on the sidelines to officially greet you for your first day.
âah, YN!â she announced, grabbing the attention of the other girls ânice to see you again, glad you could join us. letâs get you introduced and settled inâ
her smile was welcoming as she motioned for the girls to huddle up. everyone gathered around, you being the center of attention as you looked around awkwardly.
âteam, iâm sure youâre all aware of our newest member, YNâ lisa said âletâs be kind and supportive and help her get settled in on her first day alight?â
everyone nodded âgreat. YN, would you like to introduce yourself?â
you took a deep breathe as you studied their faces timidly, fidgeting with your fingers and trying to think of something to say.
âum, yeaâ you managed, hoping you sounded confident âiâm YN, i just transferred from the university of texas..and iâm-uh-really excited to get to know you guysâ
the team offered their helloâs, walking up to you one by one to shake your hand politely and introduce themselves. they were all incredibly sweet right away, telling you youâd fit right in and complimenting your skills. you went down the line, excited to get acquitted with the team.
then, at the end of the line, stood kate martin. you had seen her play and you thought she was amazing so you were excited to finally meet her. she approached you with the most genuine smile, eyes lit with zeal.
âhey,â she spoke up, offering her hand to you âiâm kate, itâs nice to meet you YNâ
you smiled back at her âitâs nice to meet you too! youâre a fantastic player, iâd be lyinâ if i said i hadnât been excited to meet you!â
âiâm flattered, really, thank youâ you could feel her hand linger on yours as she pulled away from the handshake âso texas, huh? i caught onto the accent!â
you both laughed âyea, iâm from a small town not too far from campus, so i got that signature dialectâ
âi think itâs really cute,â she looked down, avoiding your gaze âthink it suits youâ
âthanks, kateâ you blushed, smiling at her once more before bluder summoned everyone to resume warmups.
what a sweetheart.
ËËË Â´ËË
it had been quite sometime since you had finally settled into your new team. there was a lot of awkwardness and uncertainty, but you had started to feel like this is where you were meant to be. and like you had hoped, there was so much more room for you to improve rather than back in texas. you were playing amazing games, beating your own records and personal highs on a regular basis. going to iowa was truly the best thing for your career.
you had also grown really close to the girls since arriving. kate, especially, was like your best friend. she had always been so kind and sweet to you. at some point in your friendship, you started to develop a decent crush on the girl, but you had always assumed that she didnât feel that way about you. so you stayed quiet as to not distrust your connection.
but recently, things have been a little off with kate. she often avoided you during practices and didnât stay to say goodbye when you left. both things she did on a normal basis and now she just stopped doing it all together. she didnât even bother to text you or ask about your day, nor did she laugh when you said things funny (sheâs always giggled to herself when your accent was thick). you were beginning to wonder if you did something wrong.
it had been weeks of her dismissive behavior and you were starting to miss your best friend. your heart ached at the thought of her not liking you anymore. so you devised a plan to meet her during her extra early practice one morning and confront her, hoping to figure out why she wasnât giving you the time of day.
it was about 7:00 in the morning, much too early for your liking. youâd never understood why kate, amongst others, wanted to be at practice an hour earlier. but you had managed to get out of bed at 6, suiting up and sneakily heading to the gym. you hoped you could catch her off guard, maybe surprise her so sheâd have no choice but to deal with your confrontation head on. you were approaching the doors of the locker room, about to open the door, when you heard kateâs voice echo from inside. freezing in your spot, you shamefully eavesdropped to see what she was talking about.
âno! iâm not going to do that!â she exclaimed.
âwhy not?â you heard another voice, from the sounds of it, it mustâve been gabbie. âyouâre like obsessed with her, just go for it!â
âiâm not obsessed, ok? thereâs just something about YN that drives me crazy and i like her so so much, but iâm sure as hell not going say that right to her face!â
you went numb hearing your name fall from kateâs mouth. you tried to move closer to the door, wanting to hear what she was saying a little bit better, but you tripped over your own foot causing you to lunge forward. the doors to the locker on went flying open, your stiff figure busting through the entrance as you immediately gave yourself away.
you stood, completely unable to move as you looking up into the vastness of the locker room. sure enough, there were gabbie and kate, sitting in front of you. their eyes were wide seeing you burst through those doors, realizing they had just been caught talking about you. and it was no secret that you had heard almost everything they were saying.
âiâm so sorry!â you rambled an apology âi was just about to come and talk to kate, but then i heard my name, and i really didnât mean to intrude like this iâm so embarrassedâ
kate sat, also embarrassed as gabbie spoke up.
âiâm going to give you guys some privacyâ she said âi think thereâs a lot that kate needs to sayâ
and with that, she walked out of the locker room, leaving you and kate in awkward silence. you walked over to where she sat on the bench to take the seat next to her. she looked at you, hardly able to make eye contact.
âiâm sorryâ
âfor what?â you asked
âi shouldnât have been talking about you behind your back. i had no idea you were gonna be here, not that that makes it ok-â
âkate, itâs okâ you placed a hand on her shoulder âi was here early cause i needed to talk to you, but i shouldnât have stuck around to eaves dropâ
âwhat did you need to talk to me about?â
you sighed, suddenly wishing you didnât have to bring it up in the first place âitâs just that iâve felt like youâve been avoiding me and purposely not talking to me so i wanted to ask whyâŚbut i think i already kind of know whyâŚâ
âyeaâ she replied, voice cracking âyou werenât supposed to find out like thatâ
âif itâs any consolationâŚi feel the same wayâ you removed your hand from her shoulder, taking her hand in yours. gentle fingers ran over hers soothingly.
âyou-you do?â
âmhmâ you grinned âiâve been too afraid to say anything cause i didnât know if you felt the same and i didnât want to ruin our friendshipâ
she didnât say anything, just sat looking into your eyes. there were no tears, no anger in her eyes, just a certain longing that only you could recognize.
âi think im in love with youâ
âyou donât have to say-â
âno i mean itâ she continued âeverything about you, from the moment i met you, iâve been in love with. youâre perfect and funny and gentle, you have the cutest accent iâve ever heard, and i donât think i can handle being just friendsâ
âkate i think iâm in love with you tooâ happy tears welled in your eyes as you inched closer to her, feeling her breathe on your skin.
âcan i kiss you?â she asked, but she didnât even need to, you wouldâve done it anyways.
âpleaseâ
and finally, your lips met in the most gentle yet passionate kiss. teeth clashing at the urgency of it, both of you so eager from waiting so long for this moment. you wished you couldâve stayed like that forever. nonetheless, she pulled away breathlessly, forehead resting against yours as you smiled at each other.
âitâs that southern charmâ she joked, large hand resting against your cheek âyouâre irresistibleâ
you laughed, pulling her into another kiss, trying to savor this moment for as long as you could.
