Kate Bishop 4 . “I can’t believe that the world had infinite chances to find me a soulmate, and I lucked out and hit the absolute jackpot with you.”
Kate Bishop x Reader
A lil blurb ❤️
Tumblr media
Kate simply couldn’t take her eyes off of you, even though her alarm that had gone off thirty minutes ago was an indicator for her to get up and start her day. Clint’s incessant texts went ignored as well. The young archer was busy.
It’d been months since she last got to hold you like this, to feel as your warm breaths fanned across her skin. To intimately cradle your body against her very own without the blanket of sleep keeping her from seeing you. This was a nice break from her more bleak reality.
——
Kate was missing you like crazy with the nonstop flow of missions with Clint and the skilled Widows, him and Natasha were ready to pass on their mantles. Yelena seemed ready, but neither OG Avenger would leave the other hanging, and Clint wasn’t done with Kate yet.
Kate understood, Clint had a family, and Wanda and Natasha were jonesing to start their own. But she also had you to think about. Just a year ago you two were college seniors, wildly in love; now you are an official business woman, and she’s an Avenger, with no time for romance.
It saddened her to ask you to have to accept this life, but she loved you too much to have broken it off, and you were incredibly patient.
“Kate?” You whispered her name in disbelief, “You’re still here?” The sound of your voice made the woman’s heart flutter with a mix of love and guilt. It’d been weeks since you’d been able to feel her arms around you, so she felt the way you instinctively nuzzled further into her, but it was also obvious to her that the only reason you’re up at 6am is her buzzing phone that was just out of her reach. “Yeah, I’m here. I think I’m just going to blow off Clint today.”
You untangled from her grasp, against her groans of protests to sit up and face her. Kate saw the worry on your face, and just as she went to cup your cheek you reached to touch her forehead with the back of your hand. The woman stifled her giggle as best she could.
“Baby, I’m not sick, I just think life requires a little balance, and I’ve weighed the scales to find that you’re not being given your fair share.”
“It’s okay Kit-Kat, I get it, you are a superhero.” You shrugged nonchalantly, but with your eyes locked with hers she could see the toll her absence had been having on you. “You are fighting the evil of the world, it would be selfish of me to expect you to be around that much.”
“You deserve an attentive partner,” she fiercely challenged and you smiled softly. “I have one.”
Kate frowned, “Y/N/N, I’m hardly ever here.”
“Yet I’m never lonely,” you teased, “Every morning I find a smoothie in the fridge with my name on it. When I get to work there’s almost always something waiting for me, whether that be a bouquet of flowers, or my go to take out order arriving around lunch time. You never miss our six o’clock dinners or movie nights.”
You watched her eyes gloss over. “I still don’t think it’s enough my love, you deserve more.”
You shook your head, and straddled her lap with a loving smile. “What more could I need Kit-Kat?” In a show of dramatics you threw your arms up to emphasize the question, as if the universe would answer, then you smiled as she looked at you with a pout that you promptly kissed away. “You,” you paused to peck her lips again, “Returning home to me safe and holding me close is all I’ll ever want or need.”
Kate tackled you into a hug, her body crushing yours as she placed kisses all over your neck. “I can’t believe that the world had infinite chances to find me a soulmate, and I lucked out and hit the absolute jackpot with you.”
“I’m far from a prize Kit-Kat,” you managed to giggle out, though her unrelenting attack of your upper body with kisses was making you a bit too giddy to remain aware. “You’re insane, you my dear, are the best prize of them all.”
“I love you with all of my heart Y/N.” You smiled and cupped her cheeks as she was hovering above you, her flexed arm muscles on display. As if it was no effort to remain upright. “I love you too, which is why I can’t keep you home.”
Kate grumbled, “Which is why I’m doing it.”
“What was on today’s agenda?” You pressed, and she groaned, “More strength training.” Kate rolled her eyes when she saw your smirk. “We could go together, I can be moral support.”
“You’re a pervert,” she groaned, but it was playful. She herself was looking forward to taking a nice, long shower with you today. This really just afforded her the opportunity. “But that’s what I love about you, you’re a freak.”
You snorted softly, “Glad to know that of all my wonderful attributes that’s what you cherish.”
“You keep me young,” she said with a shrug, and you laughed harder, “You’re literally 22.”
“I know, my back is starting to kill me,” she teased, then she placed a chaste kiss to your lips before disappearing into the closet to talk to the angry, elder archer about her faulty alarm while you got ready for a day full of adventure.

you can see it with the lights out [K.Bishop]
Tumblr media
pairing: kate bishop x reader
summary: enduring a storm and a subsequent power outage with kate bishop by your side might not be the worst thing in the world.
warnings: none, just tooth-rotting fluff; storm + power outage = kate bishop being an adorable dork; very light mentions of anxiety and small insecurities
wordcount: 1.5k
a/n: i had so many other things to write but i really wanted to do some good old-fashioned fluff. i'm always so tempted to turn my kate fics into angst or hurt/comfort or smut so this was a nice change of pace. although you could argue this isn't just fluff but shhh. i just think golden retriever gf kate is the best kate <3 [and i would 100% cry if someone did something cute and dorky like this for me]
* * * * * * *
Storms and power outages have become synonymous with life in New York for you. Any time the sky fills with those dark clouds, you know to go stock up on candles and blankets since the power will most likely go out in your apartment.
You’re not sure if it’s a safety precaution or if the power lines around your building always end up getting damaged, you just know the routine you’ve come to adopt over the years.
A routine that’s never included Kate Bishop until now.
You’ve been dating the brunette archer for a few months and she’s somehow become the one constant in your life that you didn’t know you needed but have grown to adore.
Whether it’s randomly showing up at your apartment with a bag of takeout or staying on the phone with you until you fall asleep, Kate always does her best to be there for you and provide the support she knows you’re still too shy to ask for.
She thinks it’s cute that you still get tongue-tied around her despite how much of a dork she truly is when she’s with you. You, on the other hand, think she’s a jerk for pulling that damn smirk onto her face and making you flustered every chance she gets.
So maybe you’re a little head over heels in love with Kate and maybe she’s a little too proud of herself for that, despite the fact that neither of you have spoken your true feelings out loud yet, but the two of you make a perfect pair. A pair that’s only rivaled by power outages and your apartment building.
There had been a heavy rain warning for the past few days but it wasn’t until this morning that the sky filled up with borderline black clouds. Clouds that told you your power wouldn’t be on for much longer.
You had accepted your fate, gone on a brisk walk to the nearest grocery store, and shot your girlfriend an apologetic text about having to postpone your picnic date. The brunette had left you on seen but you didn’t think anything of it since Kate’s attention span can sometimes be shorter than Lucky’s, which is saying something.
Most of the day flies by in a blur of reading and watching your comfort show while listening to the heavy rain falling against your windows. It’s not until you hear a knock on your front door that your normal routine is interrupted.
“Kate?” Your eyes widen as you open the door and come face to face with your rain-soaked girlfriend. “What are you doing here?”
“Well, I hated that we had to cancel our date so I decided to bring the date to you!” She proudly holds up a takeout bag not-so-carefully stuffed inside a light brown picnic basket. “I wanted to cook something but you can imagine how well that went.”
There’s something about the way she’s looking at you with that sparkle in her eyes and a huge smile on her face that makes you tear up a little. There’s nothing incredibly extravagant about her actions but the feelings behind every one of her choices makes your heart flutter in your chest in a way you’ve never felt before.
Kate doesn’t need any words to tell you how much she truly adores you. And it’s something you never thought you would find, much less with someone like her.
“Hey, what’s wrong, babe?” She asks, her head slightly tilted to the side.
You can’t form a single sound but your girlfriend doesn’t need your help to know what to do. She steps forward in an instant, gently dropping the picnic basket on the ground before pulling you into her embrace and kicking the door closed behind her.
The fabric of her soft purple hoodie is completely soaked but you don’t mind one bit. You just wrap your arms around her waist and let the feeling of her body against yours drown out everything else.
Including the tiny voice in the back of your mind that reminds you your apartment is a complete mess that’s probably a few minutes away from being submerged in total darkness.
Kate might be a New Yorker through and through but she’s had a different life than you. One that’s been filled with the nicest things money can buy. Such as an apartment that can actually withstand a storm.
“I’m sorry,” you mumble, unable to keep your thoughts to yourself while your head rests against her shoulder.
“Why are you apologizing?”
You shrug but Kate doesn’t accept silence as an answer. She doesn’t rush you, though, she just trails her fingers up and down your arm in an attempt to reassure you that she’s with you.
It’s unusual for her to actually be patient for once yet she puts all her focus on waiting for you to tell her about all the worries she knows linger in the depths of your mind. She’s gotten incredibly good at reading your nonverbal cues by now.
“I don’t know,” you finally say. “I just feel like you…deserve more than this.”
She can’t back a quiet chuckle, one that comforts you in ways you can’t describe. “More than a cozy night in with my gorgeous girlfriend?”
“You know what I mean,” you whisper, leaning back a little so you can look at her again.
“Mmm, nope. I really don’t.”
She doesn’t give you a chance to argue back even though she can practically hear the words gathering on your lips. Instead, she leans in to kiss you and successfully distracts your mind from all the small insecurities that linger inside.
The lights go out right when she pulls away from your lips.
The sound of your groan is swallowed up by Kate’s laugh. The excitement you hear is more than enough to change your attitude about the current situation even if you’re a little confused about her reaction.
“What’s got you so giddy?” You question the brunette.
She doesn’t answer you immediately but you can see the telltale signs of her coming up with a, probably ridiculous, idea. Her hands leave your body as she picks up the picnic basket once again, that smirk you’ve come to love adorning her face. “Can I interest you in a romantic candlelit dinner?”
You smile despite yourself. “Only if you promise to wash the dishes afterwards.”
“Way to ruin the mood, babe.”
All you can do is laugh while she pulls you toward the kitchen, both of you stumbling around like idiots due to the darkness that consumes the apartment.
It’s not until a few hours later when the two of you are cuddled up underneath your fluffiest blankets that she gathers the courage to ask you about your earlier reaction.
Your head rests comfortably on her chest, her fingers drawing random patterns on your side, as the question leaves her lips. “Baby? What got you so emotional when you saw me at the door? Did I do something?”
Her concern serves to soothe you and make you nervous at the same time. You debate coming up with a stupid response instead of telling her the truth and laying your feelings on the line. Ultimately, you decide to take the jump, somehow knowing Kate will be right there to catch you.
“You didn’t do anything wrong, Katie,” you respond, loving the way she pulls you closer once the nickname leaves your lips. “You just always know what to do. How to make me feel better, how to make me feel…loved.”
You feel the way her breath catches at your words and you can already tell you’ll never grow tired of it. She’s silent for a long while but you don’t mind. Where there once was anxiety and uncertainty, now there’s only safety and love.
She shifts around after a few seconds, placing your head on the pillow instead of her chest before she turns onto her side so you’re face-to-face. The tiniest of slivers of moonlight shines through your bedroom window and offers you enough light to see the expression of pure love that covers the archer’s face.
There are no words but her eyes say it all. Even in the silence and with the lights out, you can see it.
And you’re sure there’s no better feeling than this…until she finally speaks the words out loud.
“I do love you, y/n. A lot. Like almost as much as my bow, or Lucky, or-”
You lean in to kiss her before she can keep rambling. You feel her smile against your lips as her arm goes around your waist again, pulling you impossibly closer to her warm body.
“I’m going to ignore the fact that you just said you love your dog and your bow more than me,” you tease her. “I love you too, Katie.”
A content sigh leaves her as you lean your head against her chest once again, her chin resting on top of your head while she holds you in her protective embrace. “I love you more though.”
You just smile in response, letting her have her way for now, and allow your eyes to slip shut. The storm and the blackout are the last things on your mind while you rest in your girlfriend's arms.

KATE BISHOP x READER
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
Tumblr media
A/N: HELLO, HELLO, HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! How are you?
I know, I know, I've disappeared again, but I've been struggling with my calculus exam and it's driving me crazy! But here I am!
Not gonna lie, I had so much fun writing this and I'm pretty proud of everything turned out (I was actually going to make this a book, but who knows? Tell me what you think *wink*).
As always, I'm sending you guys so so much love ❤️
Enjoy ❤️
-
Summary: Kate, CEO of BishopTech, is in need of a new assistant but has the reputation of keeping them for less than two days before firing them? Is Y/N going to last longer? She is there to stay.
Warnings: crass language, kissing but nothing too explicit.
Word count: 28343 words.
-
"Oh no, no, no, please no!" Y/N sprinted down the street to take the bus but before she could get in the doors closed and it drove away. "Great. Just fucking great!" Y/N lifted her arms up in the air in frustration then slammed them on her sides, huffing out angrily. "I’m gonna be fucking late for my job interview. Just great." Y/N spent a few seconds to regain her breath on the curb before murmuring under her breath, "and also a lot more broke than expected." Y/N sighed out loud dramatically and lifted her left hand up to call for a cab that was luckily driving down the street, "where to?"
Y/N gave the driver the address and sighed out in relief after controlling her phone. 7:54. She won’t be late.
-
"Miss Y/L/N?" Y/N lifted her head from her phone when she heard someone calling her last name and smiled at the blonde already grinning at her as she sat up and walked towards her, standing on the threshold of the room she was just in.
"Hi, I’m Y/N."
"I’m Carol. I’m the head of the Nanotech Department, but today I’m your interviewer for your job interview." Carol introduced herself after closing the door behind her and smiled widely at Y/N signaling her to sit on the chair in front of her huge wooden desk. As soon as Carol sat down, Y/N opened her bag and grabbed her resume, offering to the blond, who took a few moments to skid her eyes over the paper but focusing on each word written on it, while Y/N wrung on her fingers nervously, her eyes jumping from each object present in Carol’s room to distract herself, "really impressing Miss Y/L/N. You graduated with highest honors in Electronic and Computer engineering at Stanford. Top of every class. Oh top scorer in your soccer team, I see! Impressive. Very impressive. Have you and your team ever won something?"
"Yeah, we won 3 tournaments in a row."
"Wow, do you still play?"
"Sometimes. Not as much as I want to since all my teammates are still in California." Y/N shrugged, showing a nostalgic smile as she remembered all the good times she had with her teammates and friends.
"That’s sad. I always admired soccer, it’s a very interesting sport." Carol commented while taking a few more looks at Y/N’s resume, then moved on asking a few more questions to Y/N, a few personals, but most of them were about a few technical stuff and as the interview went on, Carol found herself surprisingly but also delightfully stunned at how wonderfully Y/N’s mind worked, "you are surely the best candidate I had interviewed today. So-." Carol stretched her serious, professional frown into a wide smile as she prepared to give Y/N good news, but got stopped mid-sentence by her phone on her desk ringing loudly, "excuse me for a moment." Carol smiled apologetically at Y/N, who nodded in understanding and tried to look around casually to not make it obvious she was listening to the call Carol just answered, "yes? No, I had been busy this morning with interviews for the job you told me about. Yeah. No but- what? But- okay fine. I’ll see you in a bit. Bye." Carol sighed out after ending the call and placed her phone back down on the desk, "well, this is unfortunate. I was actually gonna give you the job but sadly our engineer that was retiring isn’t retiring anymore since he has to finish a few projects before doing that."
"Oh, that’s- cool I guess." Y/N muttered sadly, feeling her heart falling into her stomach and her eyes stinging a bit with unshed tears, but she resolutely held them in, scratching her forehead instead to calm herself down.
"No but, wait. You are a great engineer and after this interview I would be a complete idiot not assuming you. But unfortunately we don’t have any vacant spots at the moment. For engineer positions at least." Carol’s sad expression morphed into a mischievous one, staring at Y/N as she lifted her right eyebrow up.
"I’m not following." Y/N spoke out uncertainly and looked at Carol confused, but the blonde was quick to explain further.
"The CEO of this company fired her last assistant just last night. She absolutely needs another one." Carol explained, hoping Y/N understood what she meant, but when Y/N kept staring at her with her eyebrows knitted in confusion, she continued, "what I’m trying to say is- I’m offering you a job as her new assistant. I know it’s not what you came here for, but it can pave you the way to a spot as an engineer here. You can still show your value as her assistant. Please, think about it. This company really needs you and your mind." Y/N thought over all the options she had. She came here this morning for a job here, but as an engineer. It was what she wanted. It was the reason she left her home in California and moved to New York, to start new in a new city. She needed a job. Especially because she was broke and needed to pay the rent. So any type of job, at least in the beginning, would suffice. It couldn’t be that bad being an assistant, right? The CEO’s assistant to be exact, so it will be a really important spot to an extent. And also, she had always been a well organized person, she could do that for someone else. Right? And it could lead her to the job she dreamed to have here. After a few more moments of weighing the pros and cons of this job offer, she stared at Carol resolutely.
"Okay."
"Okay?" Carol asked a bit perplexed, not exactly believing Y/N actually considered her offer, that quickly even.
"Yeah. I accept your offer."
"Wow, okay. Hm- this may sound maybe a bit too much but- can you start like- now?"
"What?"
"I know it’s fast. But our CEO needs an assistant as soon as possible. She tends to be pretty busy and she needs someone to help her out."
"Okay? Yeah, okay. Hm- do I need to know something about being an assistant?" Y/N asked uncertainly as she shrugged anxiously.
"Okay? Oh, that’s great! C’mon, I’ll take you to our CEO, then." Carol sat up from her chair and signaled Y/N do the same, opening the door for her and leading her down a big hallway that lead to the elevator. "To answer your question all you need is to be well organized to sort out our CEO’s agenda. Oh and a lot of patience. She tends to be a bit- hm- tough sometimes. But please hold on tight. We need you here." As Carol finished speaking, the loud ‘ding’ of the elevator ringed loudly to signal its arrival and the two girls filed in the elevator.
The ride was pretty quick since Carol’s office was 5 floors down the company’s CEO’s one, but it was filled with quick advices to be the CEO’s assistant here. "What do you mean with ‘she tends to be a bit tough’?" Y/N asked as they filed out of the elevator, keeping up a fast pace to an happy and giddy Carol.
"Nothing to worry about too much. She likes to annoy her assistants that much that they quit or she gives them a real reason to fire them- in like two days."
"What?!" Y/N asked bewildered, whipping her head around to stare at Carol in disbelief but it was too late, Carol was already knocking on the CEO’s door with a big, bright smile on her lips and a few moments later a quiet ‘come in’ reached the two girls’ ears, making Carol open the door swiftly.
"Hey boss, are you busy?"
"Just give me a second, I’m finishing this report." Y/N heard a deep, husky voice coming from behind a big computer and tried to take a look at the mysterious woman typing away on the keyboard and sighed out loudly when she didn’t succeed in her task as she was hid away behind her computer.
"It won’t take too long. I came here to tell you, you don’t need to find a new assistant anymore. I got you one."
The woman behind the big wooden desk stopped her frantic typing and finally came into view as she peeked her head to the side of her huge desktop, almost knocking the air out of Y/N’s lungs with her endless beauty, "I don’t need a new assistant. I already told you that."
"No, you need an assistant. We talked about this. So I nicely took over the interview part and found one. She is great for this job." Y/N gulped loudly when the woman’s ocean blue eyes focused on her and gave her a once over, scrutinizing her carefully, causing her to stay frozen on her spot, incapable of moving with those eyes on her.
"No." Kate finally said and moved back behind the computer, resuming her frantic typing on the keyboard.
"C’mon! Do it for me. I promise you she will be the best assistant you’ve ever had." Carol pushed as she stressed her words, "please."
"One week."
"Six months." Carol counter offered, lifting her right eyebrow up when Kate stopped typing and leaned over the computer to look at Carol unamused once again.
The blue eyed woman scoffed and shook her head, "two weeks."
"Four months."
"Three weeks."
"Three months." Carol counter offered again with a firm tone, pining the woman down with a resolute look and it seemed to work as a moment later the black haired girl slumped her taut shoulders and sighed out loud.
"Okay fine. If she quits before the month ends, I will not be held responsible."
"Oh please, you always are the reason why your assistants quit."
"It won’t happen." Y/N spoke for the first time since she entered the room, making two pair of eyes focus on her and she gulped again. Carol nodded at her proudly, while the black haired girl’s gaze stayed curious but held a bit of mischief that made Y/N shiver. "I won’t quit."
"We’ll see about that." The black haired woman stated in a low, raspy tone, that it totally didn’t make Y/N tremble, and seemed to think about something for a few seconds because her face almost lighted up like a Christmas tree before she spoke up again, "when can you start?"
"Now." Both Y/N and Carol spoke at the same time, making the CEO nod impressed. For a few moments silence fell in the room with Carol staring at the black haired woman almost in reprimand, while she looked at Y/N like she was the predator getting ready to jump on its prey, but it was short lived when Carol’s phone broke the silence ringing loudly.
"Sorry- I need to go." The blonde grimaced at Y/N after controlling the ID caller then stared Kate down with a warning glint in her eyes once more, "you-." Carol trailed off pointing at the black haired woman, who lifted her eyebrow up and smirked defiantly, "behave."
With that Carol bid the two girls goodbye and walked out of the room while answering her phone, the door closing behind her, "okay, Jenny. Since you decided to punish yourself and me with you being here and wanting to be my assistant-." The black haired girl resumed typing on the keyboard without looking at Y/N, "I want you to call Frank from the LarryCorp, Trevor from NanoTech, Gary from PML and Lauren from Logan Limited and invite them here to talk about our last product that needs to be introduced to the market. Then I want you to go the laundry and pick up the suit for a party I need to go on Thursday. Then you can order my lunch- chicken salad with no kale and tomatoes. Oh then you need to call Shuri here, I need to discuss with her regarding a few things about our prototype. Then you-." Kate stopped talking when she diverted her gaze for a moment on Y/N and found her wringing on her fingers in the middle of the room, looking like a deer in headlights, "I’m sorry, was I boring you with my schedule?"
"No- I just- I don’t have a notebook with me."
"Then fucking get one. Or type on your phone, or try to put your fucking brain to work. I don’t care. I hope you’ll remember everything I told you. I expect an update on every single thing I told you in 30 minutes."
Y/N tried to open her mouth to counter back wittingly but decided against it when the black haired girl resumed her typing and was clearly over with the conversation, so she turned around and walked towards the door but before exiting the CEO’s office, she turned towards the blue eyed girl and spoke up with annoyance clear in her tone, "it’s Y/N, by the way."
"I don’t care." Kate countered back quickly, still not looking at Y/N and keeping typing on her keyboard.
With that Y/N exited the room and after closing the door, she leaned her body on it and sighed out loudly, "what a fucking bitch."
"New recruit?" A red haired woman approached Y/N with an apologetic smile as she carried a stack of paperwork, looking at her with an apologetic grimace.
"Yeah, I am her new assistant." Y/N pointed with her thumb to the room behind her and shook her head softly with an humorless laugh.
"Kate can be a bit tough sometimes, but once she warms up to you, she is a sweetheart. Let’s just say she is not prone on warming up to her assistants." The redhead stated with a warm smile and a snort before signaling Y/N with a small tilt of her head to follow her, "I’m Wanda."
"Y/N, nice to meet you. Do you need a hand?"
"No, don’t worry, I just need to put them on my desk before delivering it to my boss." Wanda pointed to two doors down Kate’s one after placing the stack of papers on her desk and Y/N nodded in understanding.
"Hm- listen, I’m not usually someone that asks for help but- this is my first day here and I actually have never been an assistant in my life. Can you help me?"
"Of course! What did Kate asked you to do?"
"Hm, she said a lot of things- I didn’t have a notebook so I need to remember everything she said. Okay- hm- she said something about a laundry. I need to pick up her suit for a party on Thursday and she asked me to order her lunch. That’s what ai remember the most, then she said to call a bunch of people for a meeting for a new device, oh and she asked to call someone named Shirley- no- Sheila- no-hm-."
"Shuri."
"Yeah! That. Hm- I think that’s all."
"Okay, I can handle a few things since I have a little bit of free time. I will take care of her laundry and call those people. I know who she was talking about. Jane has that meeting on her agenda next week already. Here-." Wanda trailed off to write down something on a small piece of paper and gave it to Y/N. "This is her favorite restaurant’s number. Chicken salad, no kale and tomatoes, right?"
"Yeah, how do you-?"
"I’ve sometimes helped Kate when she didn’t have an assistant after making her quit."
"Oh, okay."
"Then, go to the 14th floor and ask Okoye for Shuri to send her up here."
"Noted. Thank you so much Wanda. I owe you big time."
"Ah, there’s no need." Wanda waved Y/N off like it was no big deal doing almost everything Kate asked her to in her stead while rounding her desk and sitting on her chair, already picking up the phone on the desk to make a call. "How much time do you have?"
"About 26 minutes."
"Alright, in 15 minutes you will be done with everything and will communicate it to her, just to impress Kate on your first day." Wanda winked before signaling her to move toward her desk to call the restaurant, Y/N immediately moving to the empty desk and picking up the phone.
-
"Hm, hi. I’m looking for-hm- Shuri."
"A new face." Okoye looked up from the paper she was reading and gazed up and down Y/N with a blank face.
"Yeah, I’m Miss Bishop’s new assistant."
"Oh, poor kid." Okoye looked at Y/N with sorrow on her features as she sat up from her chair and rounded the desk to pat Y/N’s shoulder gently, an apologetic frown never leaving her face, "how is it going?"
"It’s been 12 minutes and I already need a vacation."
Okoye laughed heartily and nodded, "oh, I bet. Anyway, are you looking for Shuri?"
"Yeah, Miss Bishop needs her in her office to talk about-."
"Our prototype." A voice behind Y/N stopped Y/N mid-sentence and caused the Y/H/C girl to turn around to look at who interrupted her. "Hi, I’m Shuri."
"Y/N, Miss Bishop’s new assistant."
"Oh, I’m so sorry." Shuri looked apologetically at Y/N before patting her shoulder like Okoye did, "anyway, let’s go before she gets mad."
-
"Jenny!" It was later that day and Y/N was typing a few things on her new desktop as she organized Kate’s messy agenda, the assistant that was here before her did such a poor job with it that every appointment was in the wrong place or misspelled, while Wanda was finishing printing a few paperwork for Jane. "Jenny!"
"Who’s Jenny?" Wanda asked after hearing Kate shouting that name again and looked at Y/N quizzically, who sported an annoyed look on her face while sighing loudly, already sitting up from her.
"Me. That’s how she registered my name."
Wanda placed her hand on her mouth to suppress a snort while Y/N rolled her eyes good-naturedly at her before opening the door to her boss’ office, "Jenny, how many times do I fucking need to call you before you come here?"
"If you call me by my real name, I will surely come faster." Y/N retorted wittingly, smiling too sweetly at the black haired girl, who looked up immediately at her from the papers she was reviewing, a withering glint shining in her ocean blue eyes.
"I would shove that attitude up your ass if I were you. Remember who is in charge." Kate countered back with a snaring tone and Y/N immediately nodded and lowered her gaze, clutching on her notepad and pen.
"I’m sorry."
"That’s better. I need a report from Clint. It’s in the drawer." Kate pointed to the drawer right beside her and Y/N looked at her bewildered. She swallowed the ‘you could’ve grabbed it yourself’ and obliged, sauntering towards Kate and opening the drawer. She found Clint’s folder and opened it, furrowing her eyebrows as she wondered what she was looking for, "are you looking for a solution to the cold fusion?"
"Hm- no?"
"Then why the fuck does it take you so long for that file?"
Y/N rolled her eyes inwardly and tried to answer without telling her boss to fuck off, "I don’t know what I’m looking for."
"The nano-robotic files from June."
Y/N nodded, although she knew Kate couldn’t see her as she was still focused on her papers, and quickly grabbed the files she asked for and gave them to her. "Do you need anything else?"
"No, that’s it." And with that Y/N walked out of the office, sitting down unceremoniously on her chair and sighing loudly as she rubbed her temples.
"You okay?" Y/N looked up to a girl, smiling apologetically at her before focusing on Wanda beside her looking at her with a small smile.
"Yeah, just- rough first day. I-I’m Y/N Y/L/N."
"Oh, you’re Kate’s new assistant. I’m so sorry."
"You guys here have been telling me this the whole day." Y/N snorted humorlessly and Wanda snorted under her breath.
"Because Kate is a sweetheart but just not with her assistants. I’m Jane by the way." The brunette offered her hand to Y/N and Y/N was quick to shake it, smiling warmly at her.
"My pleasure."
"Wan, honey, I need the reports we talked about in 10 minutes. Thank you. It was a pleasure Y/N and please, hold on tight. You seem nice and it would be great having you around."
"Thank you so much. If you ever need an extra hand, I will gladly help you."
"That’s lovely of you." And with a smile Jane moved to her office. Y/N waited until the door closed before turning to Wanda and looking at her pleadingly, "can we switch bosses?"
-
"Ugh, I need fucking vacation." Y/N slumped on her chair for the umpteenth time that day, fatigue from the day weighing on her shoulders.
"It’s only been two days, Y/N." Wanda countered back with a small giggle and sat on Y/N’s desk beside her.
"I don’t even want to imagine what a week with her will be. And to think I came here to be an engineer."
"What?"
"Oh- you see." Y/N laughed when Wanda stared at her in bewilderment, "yesterday I actually came here for the vacant spot Clint was leaving to retire." Wanda nodded as she followed Y/N’s words, "I almost got it, until someone told Carol he won’t retire until his last projects are done."
"Oh Y/N, I’m so sorry."
"It’s fine. Carol wanted me to work for this company, so she proposed to be Kate’s assistant until that electronic engineer spot is free again." Y/N shrugged and smiled at Wanda a bit uncertainly, the redhead looking at her apologetically.
"I’m so sorry Y/N. But look it on the bright side, that job is yours. You just need to hang tight as Kate’s assistant."
"Yeah, it’s a little bit easier said than done though." Wanda giggled at that and nodded, patting Y/N’s shoulder softly.
"I know. But hey- it’s Friday and we’re almost done. Wanna get a few drinks?"
Y/N looked at a hopeful Wanda and smiled brightly at her, "are you kidding? I will need more than a few drinks to forget about these past two days and to get myself ready for the next."
-
"Hm- hello?" Y/N fought sleep as she answered her phone and took a look at the alarm beside her showing 4:48 a.m. on it.
"JENNY?! WHY AREN’T YOU ANSWERING MY TEXTS?" Y/N grimaced as she pulled her phone away from her ear at Kate’s screeching tone, hearing faint EDM music in the background.
"Because it’s the middle of the night?!" Y/N couldn’t help but answer with a bit of a bitchy tone, but her sleepy mind was still trying to function properly.
"Then fucking get up and get a car to get me." And with that Kate hung up and Y/N slumped back on her pillow with a grunt.
"Bitch."
-
"Jenny!" Jane got interrupted in the middle of her retelling of their last online meeting with a few Spanish companies and Y/N sighed as she sat up from her chair.
"Who is Jenny?"
"That’s me." Y/N smiled sarcastically at Jane and watched as she suppressed a snort as she grabbed her notepad and pen, "I’m sorry. I’ll be right back."
"Jenny!" Y/N grimace at Kate’s loud scream as she opened her door and closed it right after, "does your brain have a problem communicating with your feet? Why does it take you so long to come in here when I call you."
"I-hm-." Y/N cleared her throat to swallow the witty remark and continued, "Jane was telling me about your last meeting."
Kate looked up from her phone and stayed in silence for a moment before speaking up, "I need Steve here, call him. Then you need to grab my purp-."
"Purple suit. Done. It’s already in your apartment." Kate looked at Y/N and tried to hide her impressed expression as she scrutinized her.
"Order me lunch."
"Chicken salad with no kale and tomatoes. Coming right up." Y/N was quick to continue and Kate nodded at her, but her face was still blank.
"Okay, that’s it."
Y/N nodded at Kate and smiled when she turned around and exited the office, unaware of Kate’s curious and impressed stare.
-
"I must say, I’m impressed, Jenny. You survived your first week here without hitches."
"Miss Bishop, it’s been a week. Can you please call me by my real name? It’s Y/N."
"You don’t like Jenny?" Kate asked with a wide, teasing grin on her lips, clearly messing up with Y/N. "Jenny is a great name."
"It surely is, but it’s not my name. My name is Y/N."
Silence fell down around the two girls in the big office, Kate staring up at Y/N with a blank face before a devilish grin cracked it, "alright, Jenny. I- okay, jeez. There’s no need to look at me like that! Y/N, better?" Kate rolled her eyes good-naturedly at the Y/H/C girl staring at her annoyed and lifted her arms up in surrender, a ghost of a smile adorning her lips.
"Yeah." Y/N’s annoyed look got quickly replaced with a wide grin and nodded happily at the black haired girl.
"Anyway, I called you here because I need you to go to Natasha downstairs and ask her for our cloaking device and take it to my house, with all the reports, as soon as she finishes revising it."
"Okay, do not forget you have a brunch with your mother tomorrow, at 11 a.m." Y/N was quick to remember Kate as she looked at her agenda, causing Kate to nod as she probably tried to stash that information in her mind to remember it.
"Okay, thank you."
Y/N exited Kate’s office with a wide grin that didn’t go unnoticed by Wanda, who stared at her quizzically with her eyes narrowed, "why so smiley after coming out of Kate’s office? It’s a first for an assistant."
"She called me by my real name."
"No Jenny?"
"No!" Y/N exclaimed enthusiastically, opening her arms and smiling in disbelief at Wanda as she made her way towards her sat behind her desk. "Well I technically asked her to, but she did!"
"Good, that means she is warming up to you. You can be her first assistant staying here for more than 9 days."
"I didn’t know I was here to break records." Y/N joked, making the redhead laugh heartily at her, before shaking her head to focus, "anyway, I’m going downstairs."
"Okay, do you need help to know which floor you need to go to?"
"Hm, yeah actually. She mentioned someone new. Natasha, I think. She needs a cloaking device she is working on."
"N-Natasha?" Wanda asked with wide eyes as her cheeks immediately tinted with red, a reaction that go unnoticed by the Y/H/C girl.
"Yeah."
"Oh, well, do you want me to accompany you? I mean you had never been to 16th floor."
"That would be great! Are you busy now?" Y/N exclaimed excitedly, not picking up on Wanda’s weird behavior.
"No! I mean, hm- no, I’m almost finished anyway." Wanda stated casually after sprinting up her chair and fixing her dress, but Y/N didn’t pay too much attention on her, as she walked towards her desk, grabbed her notebook and pen and joined Wanda again in front of her desk.
"Great!"
The ride to the 16th floor was quick with Wanda fluffing her hair and checking her makeup in the mirror, while Y/N took another look at Kate’s agenda. The elevator dinged and the two exited it to walk into the electronic and nano-tech labs, Wanda guiding them to where Natasha was, finding her hunched over a device on her desk, a mess with electronic parts, papers and a few tools scattered all over it.
"Wanda Maximoff. To whom do I owe my gratitude to have you here down here?" Natasha looked up from the device as soon as she heard footsteps approaching her and smiled charmingly at the redhead, something that piqued Y/N’s interest. Y/N smiled inwardly when she looked at Wanda and found her blushing as she smiled giddily at the other redhead.
"Hm, Y/N here needs you."
"Fresh meat. Hi, I’m Natasha." Y/N took the redhead’s hand and shook it with a polite grin.
"I’m Y/N, Miss Bishop’s new assistant."
"Oh you are the girl that survived for 7 days straight. Impressive."
"Yeah, I’m aiming at breaking the 9 days straight record as her assistant." Y/N joked and Natasha laughed heartily at that.
"You’re funny. I like it. I will threaten Kate to punch her in the face if she ever fires you." Natasha smirked at Y/N and resumed her work on the device after telling the girls to sit in front of her.
"Carol already told her to give me a chance for three months, so she technically forbidden her to fire me during that time." Y/N explained and Natasha nodded happily.
"That’s great." Natasha giggled and grabbed a paper on the desk, reading it before nodding and continuing with her work, "so tell me, Y/N, how is working for Kate?"
"A great challenge to be honest. She demands and expects a lot, but I think I can handle her."
"Hm, you would be the first." Natasha joked as she focused her attention on the device she was finishing fixing, while Y/N stared at her working curiously, her hands hitching to help her out but she resisted.
"Yeah well, Wanda had helped me a lot during this week. I owe her a lot."
"Oh please, I didn’t do anything special. I was happy to help." Wanda waved Y/N off with her right hand before laid her chin on her closed fists as she perched on the table to look at Natasha working. Y/N could swear she saw her eyes become heart-shaped eyes as she stared lovingly at her, that thought made her laugh inwardly.
After sharing a few more chats, Natasha lifted her eyes up from the device, focusing her attention on Y/N before looking at Wanda with a knowing glint in her blue eyes, "since it’s Friday, we need to celebrate Y/N surviving as Kate’s assistant for a week."
"Oh I really want to, but I need to go as soon as you’re done and take this device to Kate’s place."
"So what? You will join us after. We will celebrate at Cerbero. It’s a great night club, first round of drinks on me. C’mon!"
Y/N felt like it was impossible to say no to Wanda and Natasha when they stared pointedly at her and pouting, so with an entertained snort and a small shake of her head, she caved in, "alright."
"Yay!" Wanda cheered loudly as she clapped her hands before high-fiving Natasha, who sported the same wide grin as her.
-
Y/N arrived at Kate’s apartment about an hour later, balancing the device in the box on her left hip as she fumbled with the keys Kate gave her, sighing out in victory when she finally slotted the key in the lock and opened the blue eyed girl’s door. After taking the key out and balancing the box back in her hands, she entered the apartment and almost dropped the device on the floor when she was met with the sight of Kate’s face buried between some girl’s legs, both stark naked on the couch. "Oh shit." The girl murmured traumatized, trying to communicate with her feet to fucking move but her brain short-circuited and made her stand froze on her spot.
"Ah! Who are you?!" The blonde girl screamed in fright as she tried to cover herself as much as she could with her hands, but she was clearly not doing a good job. That caught Kate’s attention, who detached her mouth from the girl’s vagina and looked at the intruder, her blue eyes recognized her an instant later. Y/N really wanted to look away, but she couldn’t help but notice the black haired girl’s chin was glistening. She really hoped she had her hands free to cover her eyes, to not endure witnessing this embarrassing moment for one more second, but she sadly couldn’t.
"Y/N, what are you doing here?"
"I-I- the d-device you a-asked." Y/N cursed herself under her breath for stuttering but Kate didn’t seem to mind, as she lifted her hand from the girl’s thigh and pointed mindlessly towards her kitchen table.
"Great. Now go." After speaking, Kate didn’t wait for Y/N to exit her apartment and immediately focused her attention back on the girl spread on her couch, diving her face right back between her legs. When the blonde moaned Kate’s name loudly, Y/N’s brain finally kickstarted and made her move quickly, leaving the device on the table and flying out of Kate’s apartment.
-
"Oh my god! This is priceless. Did you really walked in on Kate fucking a girl on her couch?" Natasha asked in entertained disbelief and laughed loudly, wiping a few tears that escaped, when Y/N nodded with a grimace, Wanda doing the exact same.
"It was awful. Ugh." Y/N stated before tilting her head back and chugging a shot to try to erase those images from her brain.
"I wish I was there to see your reaction." Natasha laughed loudly again and this time leaned her body on Wanda for stability, making the other girl stop laughing and blush wildly. The other redhead didn’t pay attention to it, but it didn’t go unnoticed by Y/N, who took advantage of Natasha having her eyes closed to lift her right eyebrow up curiously at Wanda as she took a sip of her drink. Wanda’s blush deepened and that was all Y/N needed to know. She took a mental note to talk to her about it soon. "Another round?"
-
"Hey, how was your weekend?" Y/N asked when she heard footsteps approaching her, smiling sweetly at Wanda as she walked towards her, who did the same.
"Pretty good, how about yours?" Wanda asked after placing her coat on the rack and went to sit on her desk, while Y/N sat up from her chair and approached her, crossing her arms and leaning her left hip on the desk to come face to face with Wanda.
"Normal. I slept most of the time. A week here and I’m barely keeping my eyes open from how much tired I am." Y/N joked and Wanda giggled softly at her words, "now, let’s talk about the most important thing I wanted to discuss. When were you gonna tell me you have a crush on Natasha?"
"Shhhh! I don’t have a crush on her." Wanda shushed Y/N hastily before looking around her to make sure no one heard them.
"Oh yes, you do." Y/N smirked widely at Wanda, who sported a red hue on her cheeks and quickly sat up from her desk to run away from her, goin to sit on her own chair and have the desk to separate them, but it only made Y/N ten times happier as she grinned widely. "So-." Y/N started, bending slightly to lean over Wanda’s desk on her elbows and placing her head on her closed fists, making her cheeks puff a bit, "when are you gonna tell her?"
Wanda scoffed while looking at Y/N like she just went crazy, "never."
"Why?! She likes you too! Trust me, I’m good with these things."
"Hm no, you’re not?! Listen Y/N, I like our friendship, we became fast friends and you may know me that much to tell I have a crush on Natasha-."
"A-HA!" Y/N interrupted Wanda and pointed her index finger at her with a bright smile, making Wanda roll her eyes good-naturedly and emit an exasperated sigh at Y/N’s behavior but a smile stretched over her face too.
"As I was saying, you may know me, but you met Natasha just Friday and we only spent a few hours together. You don’t know her."
"Maybe, but I like to observe. That much to know that she has a habit to bit her bottom lip when she is focused on a task, or that she likes to communicate with her eyes when the object of the conversation is obvious, or that she has a smile that she reserves only for you every time you’re around. I may not know her, but my point of view, completely out of any dynamic, is the truest one you can ever get. Hell- you can even ask it to Miss Bishop, I’m sure she knows that too."
"Ask me what?" At that both girls focused on the voice coming from behind Y/N, Wanda peeking from Y/N’s left shoulder while Y/N turned only her head around to look who was behind her. Only when Y/N realized it was her boss behind her and she was literally bend over in front of her giving her a view of her ass in her black, tight jeans, Y/N widened her eyes comically and straightened her body up to a more appropriate position for a work place.
"Nothing." Y/N and Wanda spoke at the same time, sporting an embarrassed smile as both tried to avoid Kate’s scrutinizing look.
"Okay, well- Y/N, I need you in my office in 10 minutes, I have a meeting in an hour and I need every paper you can find on Tess Nicholson."
"Yeah, sure." With a nod, Kate flew into her office and closed the door behind her, making both girls relax their shoulders and let out the breath they were both holding.
"Do you think she remember I literally walked in on her fucking someone on her couch a few days ago?"
"I don’t know. Maybe she is avoiding the subject to save both of you from a deep embarrassment."
"Hm, I hope you’re right."
-
"Perfect, this is perfect! Thank you Y/N, I have everything I need to make our new possible associate join our forces."
"Do you need anything else?" Y/N tried to contain her smile from the praising words Kate just used for her even if her attention was laser focused on the papers in front of her, but she was pretty sure Kate could detect her happiness and pride in her voice.
"No, thank you. You can go." Y/N nodded and made her way towards the door, but when her hand touched the door handle, Kate’s voice stopped her in her tracks, "actually, Y/N, about Friday night-."
Y/N almost fainted as those words reached her ears and carefully turned around to face Kate again, getting ready for Kate yelling at her for not knocking or invading her privacy, "I’m so-."
But what she imagined never came, as Kate ignored her and continued, "call Shuri up into my office. There’s a problem with the prototype."
Y/N let go of the breath she didn’t know she was holding and nodded tentatively, forcing her body to find the voice she was sure she lost to feebly speak to Kate, "yeah, s-sure."
-
"How the fuck is possible that this fucking thing isn’t fucking working?! We had been working on it for over a year to fix every flaw! But every time we switch it on, 7 seconds pass and the device shuts off from overheating!" Kate stressed in frustration, walking up and down her office as she massaged her temples.
"I don’t know Kate, I run every test possible, I made so many changes but the result is always the same." Shuri explained exasperated, stressed just as Kate on something they had been working on for so long. Y/N then took a look at everyone else present in the room, as a small briefing with Shuri became an emergency meeting with a few of her best engineers to find the flaw in their new device, and found the same expression on their faces, making her furrow her eyebrows apologetically.
"It’s actually the first time it worked this long. Last month’s test resulted in the device working for only 5 seconds before shutting off." Carol chimed in the conversation, done staying quiet while staring thoughtfully at the device on Kate’s desk.
"I controlled every single electronic part in the device on Friday before Y/N delivered it at your house, Kate. Nothing it’s wrong with it." Natasha stated calmly while massaging her temples too to calm her nerves down.
"Then why the fucks is this thing not working?!" Kate repeated the question and looked at every single person present in her office in the eyes but everyone avoided her gaze as they all focused on the device, almost like they hoped it could magically work if they stared at it hard enough.
"We don’t know, Kate. Maybe I can run some more tests." Jane suggested with a calming tone as she approached Kate, trying to make her relax just a bit by gently touching her shoulder and looking at Carol, standing on Y/N’s right, for help. Y/N looked at Wanda as she finished writing down the last few things said just like Y/N was doing, writing down everything that could be helpful later on, before staring at Kate walking back and forth in distress when she moved away from Jane and sighed out softly.
"I did them just an hour ago. Our system tells nothing’s wrong, but something’s clearly wrong or this fucking thing would fucking work!" Kate exclaimed with an hard, angry voice, sighing out loud to get rid of some tension.
"Hm- have you tried to switch to active cooling system to passive cooling system?" Y/N spoke up when no one talked for over a minute, everyone closed up in their minds as they thought over for a solution, and almost regretted talking when every pair of eyes in the room fell on her.
"What?" Shuri was the first to talk, a curious glint shining in her eyes as she focused all her attention on Y/N, her mind already working on Y/N’s solution.
"Passive cooling system. It’s-hm-."
"Hm, excuse me Y/N, did you major in electronic engineering in the past five minutes? Everyone here is the best in their field and an assistant wants to take their place?" Kate asked angrily, looking like she was ready to loose it.
"I-hm-." Y/N went to answer but the fiery look in Kate’s eyes stopped her in her tracks and swallowed anything she was about to say, looking down at her feet as she wrung her fingers nervously.
"She actually is Kate." Carol butted in right after, placing a comforting hand on Y/N’s right shoulder and caressing it softly, sending a small, encouraging smile at her, that Y/N feebly mirrored as she gazed quickly in eyes before focusing back on her shoes.
"She is what?"
"An electronic engineer."
"Are you fucking with me? Because this is not the time." Kate grunted out unamused and caressed her temples again.
"No, she came here 10 days ago for a job interview for Clint’s place but Clint is not retiring anytime soon so we don’t have any place as an electronic engineer to offer to her right now. I couldn’t let her go to any other company, so I offered her to be your assistant. She is truly amazing. Let’s listen to what she was saying. Please. It could work."
Kate stayed quiet for a few moments, thinking over everything that has been said and without adding anything else, she just gestured Y/N to go on with her idea with a wave of her hand, "hm, as I was saying-." Y/N cleared her throat to subdue her anxiety under Kate’s and everyone else’s scrutinizing gaze, "I couldn’t help but notice that you are using an active cooling system to cool down the device from overheating, but it’s clearly not working. The energy you’re using to cool down the electronic parts it’s not cooling down the components but it’s actually just heating them more. And the computer systems tell you nothing it’s wrong because it technically isn’t, it just needs another cooling system. So I suggest to switch to passive cooling system to bypass the overheating problem."
"Passive cooling system?" Kate asked only, her curiosity piqued by Y/N’s idea, just like everyone else’s in the room.
"Yes. With passive cooling system we can use natural conduction, convection and radiation to cool the components down. It will work. I fixed many similar problems with it."
"Yeah- oh, yeah. It could work!" Shuri thought over Y/N’s words as she stared at the device on Kate’s desk before nodding enthusiastically at her. "Nat, what do you say?"
"That we need her help in the lab. Can we borrow her for a while?" Natasha directed the question to Kate, who was still staring at Y/N with a mix of shock and confusion, but also something that resembled pride? Y/N was not so sure.
"Yeah. But when you’re done- Y/N I need to speak to you." Kate stated with a low tone as she stared pointedly at Y/N, who nodded unsure and a bit worried and walked out of her boss’ office with Carol, Natasha, Jane and Shuri, Wanda following them.
-
"Come in." Y/N entered Kate’s office at hearing her boss’ validation to go in and tentatively walked into the room, wringing her hands nervously after she closed the door and turned around to face Kate.
"Hm- the device works, we run a-."
"I know. Shuri just called me." Kate interrupted Y/N with her eyes still glued on her desktop’s screen but when her eyes moved onto her a moment later, Y/N almost fainted from anxiety. "Why didn’t you tell me about you?"
"Because it wasn’t important. Not now at least."
"What do you mean?" Kate sat up from her desk and rounded it, making Y/N almost flinch in fright, but stayed put and watched Kate lean over her desk with her butt as she crossed her arms and stared at her curiously. Despite the serious, heavy air surrounding them, Y/N couldn’t help but think how extremely hot Kate looked in that moment, with her well-fitted, tailored grey suit hugging her curves, her hair flowing down her shoulders in natural waves, her light makeup highlighting her blue eyes and her bossy pose. It made Y/N’s head spin with so many gay feelings but she couldn’t focus on them too much right now since they weren’t exactly appropriated because Kate was her boss and because that said boss was now right in front of her, with an angry expression that told Y/N she was about to be lectured.
"Like Carol said, she made an offer for me. Working as your assistant until I can get a job here as an engineer. So that’s what I am for now, your assistant."
"Oh wow." Kate exclaimed, closing her mouth right after, mulling over Y/N’s words. "Are you really putting aside your degree just to wait for that spot as an electronic engineer here?" Y/N nodded softly, expressing how much this job means to her through her eyes hoping Kate would catch it. Luckily, she did. "Wow, that’s- dedication."
"I needed a job. Yeah it may not be my dream job for now, but it will be. Any type of job, for now, will do. I moved from California after graduating. To start over." It was Kate that nodded this time, understanding where Y/N was coming from, "besides, being your assistant it’s not that terrible or hellish like everyone told me about." Y/N cracked a joke to light up the heavy air that suddenly fell over them with a small shrug and she succeeded, making Kate snort under her breath while shaking her head.
"Who told you that?"
"Everyone here said to me, and I quote, ‘I’m so sorry’ every time I tell them I’m working as your new assistant." Kate snorted at that and nodded, knowing her friends and employees were just messing with her, "oh, and one of your ex assistants, the first one I assume, apparently left a journal in one of the desk’s drawers to vent over you and your, and I quote again, ‘narcissistic and completely dumb requests’. It seems it became pretty important to leave comments for every assistant that came after."
"Wow, really? Can I read it?" Kate asked with a mix of bewilderment and amusement swimming on her features, making Y/N snicker gently under her breath but she nodded nonetheless.
"Yeah, I’ll give it to you as soon as I finish reading it. It’s like a novel. I’m hooked." Y/N admitted with dreamy eyes and a wide smile, "do you know Kyla-."
"Who?"
Y/N rolled her eyes good-naturedly at Kate’s question, hearing her snort under her breath at her own words, before continuing, "anyway, she almost spit in your coffee three times just because you called her Koala?"
"Oh my god! Now I remember!" Kate laughed heartily as she clapped her hands, "yeah, I enjoyed calling her that just to see the vein on her forehead pop." Kate made a gesture with her hand in front of her face to stress the word ‘pop’ more before laughing alongside Y/N. Due to the giddy air now surrounding them Y/N didn’t exactly ponder on her next words, but she spoke up anyway.
"I also have a theory- that I need to verify once I’m done readying the journal- that there is something that each one of your assistants shared."
"And what is that? The hatred they had for me?"
"No, besides that- they actually- hm- all wanted to fuck you apparently." Y/N stated quickly, shrugging nonchalantly, causing Kate to almost fall off her leaning position on her desk with a loud laugh.
"What?! That’s not true! You’re messing with me."
"I’m being actually honest. Okay, wait here!" Y/N sprinted out of Kate’s office, approached her desk, opened the second drawer and retrieved the journal, smiling at Wanda looking at her quizzically in the process, before closing the drawer and returning to Kate’s office. "Take a look yourself." Y/N approached Kate still leaning on the desk and mirrored her as she sat beside her, while flipping through the journal’s pages to find a few spicy words Kate’s ex assistants wrote about her. "Ah, here it is. Okay, Barb said ‘that fucking bitch had the audacity to ask me to order her a salad and count if there are 115 lettuce leaves in it. But fuck, you can do anything she asks you to with that pretty face. Let’s not talk about that ass. Oh that ass, I daydream about touching that ass every time I have the chance to look at it.’ I laughed so hard reading it. Did you really ask her to count your lettuce leaves in your salad?" Y/N cackled loudly after reading the piece on the page she already read and turned around to look at Kate incredulously.
"Yeah, I thought it was fun." Kate laughed alongside Y/N and tried to conceal her blush tinting her cheeks at the words Y/N just read. "Go on, I want to know more."
"Okay, let me just-." Y/N flipped a few pages over, finding another interesting piece to read, "Johanna said ‘Kate oddly didn’t ask anything weird today so I had a lot of time to admire her amazing arms in her blouse. I would give anything to rip it off of her and see what else she has to offer.’"
"Oh my god, they were feisty." Kate commented as Y/N kept flipping over pages in focus, moving to the ones she hadn’t read yet.
"Hm-hm, but not as much as Violet, who wrote ‘can someone be so annoying but so fucking hot at the same time? She makes me go crazy. She always finds something wrong with what I do, but I would gladly let her bend me over her desk and fuck me hard as she lectures me." Y/N read out loud, finding herself blushing after finishing reading not only because she was reading those things that were directed to Kate right to Kate, but also because her brain decided to play with her and played that image over and over. And to make everything worse (or better?) she imagined herself bent over by Kate on her desk as she pound-.
"Oh shit, did she really wrote that?"
Y/N got pulled out of her daydreaming by Kate’s voice as she leaned over to take a better look at what was written on the journal’s page Y/N was reading, "y-yeah and apparently she was the last assistant you had because after this there is nothing more to read."
"Hm, good to know. Are you gonna write something down too? Vent about my rude ways or for calling you Jenny for a week?"
Y/N snorted at Kate’s question but shook her head softly, "nah, believe it or not, I actually enjoyed working for you these past weeks."
"Really?" Kate asked incredulously, turning her head around to look at Y/N better. "You would be the first then."
"Yeah." Y/N nodded with a gentle smile, "I have to admit I called you a bitch the first day we met and a few days later when you called me in the middle of the night, but I stopped then. I took it as a challenge to satisfy your every request."
"And what about the other comments? Are you gonna lust over me too?" Kate asked tentatively with a low, teasing tone, staring into Y/N’s beautiful Y/E/C eyes and waiting for her answer.
"Oh no." Y/N was quick to deny, maybe too quick for Y/N’s likings and snorted for good measure. "And besides, you can’t ask that!"
"Why not?"
"Because it’s-." Y/N trailed off to think something over, looking at Kate as she stared at her smugly, "totally unprofessional of you, of me."
"Oh, yeah right." Kate concedes in a sarcastic tone, a small grin appearing on her lips, "since you’re not gonna jump on my bones anytime soon like my other assistants, why don’t you go order my lunch? Oh and do not forget to call that catering company for my party at my house on Friday night."
"I already did."
"Oh that’s great, then call-."
"I covered the alcoholic beverages too. I ordered great amount of alcohol to make it, and I quote yourself, ‘flowing and flowing’."
"Hm, only two weeks here and you surprised me more times I can remember." Kate nodded in approval, her eyes doing a once over at Y/N as a proud smile rolled on her lips.
"I like being organized. Oh, this reminds me-." Y/N opened her notebook and flipped a few pages over to find the note she needed to comunicate to Kate, "someone named Sam called two times today asking to talk to you, she refused to tell me who she was or who she worked with. She insisted a lot on making you answer her calls."
"Oh shit, I promised to call her after our night on Thursday!" Kate sighed and caressed her temples gently, "okay tell her I’m working late."
"And if she calls again?"
"Tell her I’m working late again. I need to get rid of her."
"I don’t know if you’ve ever dumped someone Miss Bishop, but I think this lie will definitely not get rid of her."
Kate sighed at the sarcastic tone Y/N used and caressed her temples in thoughts, "it usually works, smarty pants. They just stop trying at the fourth attempt."
"O-kay." Y/N agreed skeptically but nodded nonetheless at her boss, "I will tell her that. Anything else?"
"No, just my lunch."
"On its way, boss!" Y/N announced on her way out of the door with her thumb up, a dorky gesture that made Kate snort in amusement with a fond shook of her head, totally ignoring the affection she already started feeling for her new assistant, something that had never happened before, as she took a seat at her desk again.
-
"An electronic engineer, an assistant and now a party planner. Is there something you can’t do, Y/N?" Wanda commented with a mix of bewilderment and amusement as soon as she entered Kate’s apartment with Y/N and Natasha following, causing Y/N to smile shyly at the comment.
"Damn, Y/L/N. This looks amazing." Natasha admitted in a dazed expression, her blue eyes sweeping all over the place in awe.
"Thank you, I spent two entire days planning all of this. Kate only told me about this party Tuesday morning. I had to plan everything in a very short amount of time."
"And you did amazing." Kate appeared out of nowhere, making the three girls jump up in fright, but Kate smiled at them as she approached the trio, "and for the record, I purposefully told you about this party that late."
"What?!" Y/N asked in disbelief, anger shining behind her eyes as she send a withering glare at Kate.
"I wanted to see how you worked under pressure." Kate shrugged nonchalantly as she took a sip of her drink covering her smug smirk with the rim of the glass in her hand.
"Oh great." Y/N lifted her arms up dejectedly and sighed, making Kate tap on her shoulder gently.
"You did good, you should be proud of yourself."
"Oh so I should thank you now?" Y/N asked sarcastically, smiling amusedly at Kate, and the blue eyed girl mirrored her with a challenging look.
"Wan let’s go, or we will witness them fucking in front of us." Natasha murmured in Wanda’s left ear and grabbed her hand to pull her away from the duo still bickering to walk towards the counter where the open bar was.
"What? Do you think-?" Wanda asked, trailing off and not finishing her question as she pointed with her thumb behind her back to Y/N and Kate still discussing and gasped softly.
"Yeah. They may not realize it yet, but I can see they lust over each other." Natasha explained to Wanda with a wide smirk, sitting down on a bar stool as Wanda walked around the counter. "So, how is an innocent, sweet girl like you, serving at this party full of snotty people?" Natasha changed subject quickly and leaned on the counter with her elbows and lifted her right eyebrow up seductively, eyeing Wanda like she was a predator ready to jump on its prey, speaking after a few moments of silence spent watching Wanda grab a few bottles to make cocktails for them.
Wanda blushed furiously when she made the mistake of meeting Natasha’s gaze and almost dropped the bottle of vodka she was using to mix it with a few more ingredients with the intensity of her stare. "I needed a job, rich people leave good tips when they are drunk."
"Hm, and did ever someone insisted too much on particular topics while too drunk?"
Wanda kept playing along Natasha’s charade, taking some time to squeeze half a lemon into the mixer before answering Natasha, "yes, but I can look after myself."
"Oh I do not doubt that. But you can’t be here, all alone. Someone needs to protect you." Natasha stated nonchalantly, shrugging when Wanda lifted her gaze up from the mixer to stare at Natasha unamused, "pretty girls needs to have their knight in shining armor."
"Oh yeah? Would that be you? Are you offering?" Wanda purposefully ignored the ‘pretty girls’ part, not wanting to get her hopes up when Natasha was just playing around to kill time at the party, so she moved on with their banter with an amused grin.
"Yes, of course."
Wanda’s small smile widened just a bit as she thought over her next question, "and where is your shining armor?"
"Oh I took it to the dry cleaner’s." Natasha made up an excuse nonchalantly, cracking Wanda’s almost serious face as she laughed heartily at that.
"Yeah, being clean is a really important thing. I love when the pretty girls I serve are clean." Wanda for once decided to be bold and delivered her line to Natasha as she mixed their drinks.
Natasha swallowed imperceptibly at the words Wanda used, feeling her brain literally melt and short-circuit for a moment, but pretended to act cool as she grabbed the drink Wanda offered to her with a seductive look, "thank you."
"So tell me, my brave knight, are you gonna make sure no one poisoned alcohol?" Wanda kept joking as she fidgeted with the small straw in her glass, mustering the most seductive look she had ever used and bit on her bottom lip teasingly. If Natasha wanted to play dirty with her, she was capable of doing just the same.
At that, Natasha straightened her back slightly as she saw a big opportunity. She could make the final move and explicitly hit on Wanda, hoping she would finally notice she had a crush on her, "oh yeah right, hold on." The younger redhead watched with rapt attention as Natasha wrapped her lips around the small straw and took a small sip from her glass, humming at the delicious and balanced taste Wanda created for their drinks, before licking her lips clean. Wanda watched everything unfold in front of her like it was all in slow motion, her breath getting shallower as her mouth dried up and her eyes darkened. "Nope, no poison in here."
"Okay then-."
"Ah-ah, I need to check yours too." Natasha stopped Wanda mid-sentence and without hesitation, sat slightly up from her stool to lean over the counter, giving a great view of her half exposed boobs to Wanda through the really deep neckline of her dress, before wrapping her lips around Wanda’s straw too with her drink still in her hand, and taking a small sip, never breaking their eye-contact as their faces were really close. Wanda felt like she could explode at any moment as lust pumped fast into her veins, Natasha’s green eyes feeling like they were swallowing her in and she was willing to make them do that. Wanda’s breath hitched imperceptibly when Natasha lifted up a bit to be at eye-level with her, purposefully leaning closer to the young redhead to tease her some more, making their breaths mingling as their noses almost touched but she didn’t close the gap. She wanted Wanda to want that too. "All clear."
"I-I-." Wanda licked her dry lips and swallowed the lump that formed in her throat as she tried to collect her thoughts and to form at least a coherent phrase, but it became a really difficult task with the redhead so close to her. "I- I need to go to the bathroom."
And with that Wanda excused herself and flew into the bathroom, running on wobbly legs and with her heart aching, leaving Natasha hanging there. She knew she was acting stupid but she needed some time to collect her thoughts over what just happened in the past few minutes. "You’re an idiot."
Wanda turned around with a small shriek when she felt a voice ring right beside her, making her open her eyes at the person on her left, "what are you doing here?"
"I saw what happened there. She was flirting with you and you ran away from her?!"
"She wasn’t flirting with me, she was just joking around." Wanda shook her head in denial and closed her eyes to calm her nerves and heartbeat down by laying her hands on the sink, the cold ceramic soothing her slightly, while Y/N scoffed under her breath.
"Wan, I love you but you are fucking stupid." Y/N stated gently, eyeing Wanda with a mix of affection and exasperation, "she was flirting with you. Trust me, I’ve done plenty of that. I can recognize when someone is flirting and Wan, she was."
"I-I-." Wanda sighed out loud before covering her face with her hands, her mind still wrapping around this new piece of information she subconsciously already knew but she wasn’t ready to admit to herself.
"Why did you run away?" Y/N asked softly, approaching the redhead and placing her hand on her shoulder.
"I- I can’t lose her, Y/N/N. She means the world to me and her rejecting me and pushing me away after I tell her how I feel it’s something I don’t want to experience."
"But she won’t reject you Wan! She was just flirting with you! She literally eye-fucked you as she drank from your glass. Listen- I know it’s scary, but if you don’t make a move you won’t know if she feels the same."
"I don’t want to risk our friendship, Y/N/N." Wanda reasoned, sighing out loud in distress as she detached her eyes from Y/N to look at herself in the mirror in front of her, finding dread in her features.
"Natasha won’t ever walk away from you if she doesn’t feel the same. You know that." Y/N tried to reassure Wanda with the softest tone she could muster, looking at her through the mirror and smiling encouragingly at her.
Wanda smiled back gently and nodded solemnly, "I appreciate what you’re doing Y/N/N, thank you for cheering me up."
Y/N let out a soft breath while nodding in understanding. Wanda wasn’t going to relent that easily and she won’t push her to do something she wasn’t ready to do yet, so she just moved on another topic to ease Wanda up, "don’t mention it, I will always be here for you, Wan."
The redhead turned towards the Y/E/C girl and hugged her hard, showing all the gratitude she felt for her and what she did tonight, "do not tell Clint, but you’re becoming my favorite."
Y/N snorted at Wanda’s words before pulling away from the hug and nodding at the girl, "noted."
-
"Miss Bishop, can I talk to you for a second?" About an hour later her interaction with Wanda in the bathroom, Y/N watched as Natasha gravitated back to Wanda and pretended like the girl didn’t just walked away from her flirting as she initiated a conversation with her and the Y/H/C girl decided to jump into action.
"Yeah, what’s up? And please call me Kate, Miss Bishop makes me feel old." Kate asked after excusing herself from her previous conversation with a few of her employees, nodding at Y/N in anticipation before following her to a more quiet part of her apartment to talk.
"Okay- hm, Kate- hm, do you want to join me on a mission?" Y/N whispered conspiratorially after moving closer to Kate, making the girl furrow her eyebrows and look at her confused. Despite it felt weird at first, Y/N had to admit it was amazing calling her boss by her first name and not by her last name.
"What are you talking about?"
"Do you see those two idiots in love right there?" Y/N pointed to Wanda laughing care-freely at something Natasha said before staring at Kate as she looked at them and realization hit her.
"Wanda and Natasha? Are they-?"
"Yeah, look at them." Y/N gave Kate about a minute to let her observe the two girls interact, her blue eyes scrutinizing every movement to detect everything that could make her believe Y/N‘s words.
"Oh shit, you’re right!" Kate spoke up in disbelief after she watched Natasha flirt shamelessly with Wanda, "Natasha is flirting with Wanda."
"Yeah, she jumped right at it again, I see. You missed the great show that was Natasha trying to seduce Wanda by taking a sip of Wanda’s drink from her straw."
"Oh wow, Romanoff is bold. And why are they still here? I thought they would be already on their way home, y’know." Y/N snorted at Kate’s wink and wiggling of her eyebrows before shaking her head in exasperation.
"Wanda walked away in panic. I tried to talk her out of her nerves, but she is too afraid to make a move herself or believe Natasha is actually flirting with her because she doesn’t want to lose Natasha as a friend."
"How cute." Kate commented as she stared at Wanda talking heatedly with her hands with Natasha, who stared at her like a lovesick puppy and smiled.
"That’s where we come into the picture."
"What?"
"Wanda needs reassurance Natasha likes her back and Natasha, well- she just needs a good opportunity to kiss Wanda. She almost did at the counter, but Wanda walked away before she could do that."
"Okay, I think I’m following."
"I need your help to make sure they are alone in the bathroom. I already thought about everything." Y/N smirked conspiratorially and watched as Kate did the same, nodding in understanding as she agreed to work with Y/N on her plan.
"I like this this wicked side of yours. Go on."
"Okay, first thing first, I will go grab a drink and then go to Wanda and Natasha to join on their conversation, meanwhile you will try to talk to anyone that is in our proximity and wait about 5 minutes before ‘accidentally’-." Y/N made quotation marks with her fingers to stress over the word ‘accidentally’ before continuing, "bumping into me and making me spill my drink on Wanda’s blouse. I will offer to help Wanda clean herself up but then you will stop me by making up some kind of excuse, this way I know Natasha will offer to help Wanda clean herself up and they will be alone in your bathroom." Y/N finished explaining her plan with her chest puffed up in pride, feeling satisfied for making up a great plan to help her friends out.
"That’s great! Did I already tell you I love this wicked side of you?"
-
"No Y/N, tell me you didn’t."
"Oh I did, right in front of my teacher. I got detention for punching that asshole but he asked for it." Wanda and Natasha laughed their asses off as Y/N told them about a funny story from high school, letting a small laugh escape her lips too as she thought about that moment. "That way he ne-." Y/N got abruptly stopped mid-sentence when a body collided on hers, knowing it was Kate that ‘accidentally’ bumped into her and following her plan she purposefully tilted her hand too much from just a simple bump to let her drink spill all over Wanda’s blouse, making her shriek loudly at the coldness invading her body. "Oh, shit! I’m so sorry! Someone bumped into me and I-."
"It’s okay Y/N/N, it wasn’t intentional." Oh, but it was. Y/N mischievously thought in her head before fumbled around to take a few napkins to dab the liquid from Wanda’s blouse. "Ah, shit. Let’s go to the bathroom, I’ll help you clean up."
"Oh Y/N! There you are! I’ve been trying to find you for an hour." Kate immediately butted in the conversation, making Y/N smirk inwardly at her playing along with her plan, "I need your help with something."
"Can it wait? I need to help Wanda-."
"Don’t worry Y/N/N, go. I’ll help Wanda." Natasha interjected gently, a small smile adorning her features as she took the napkins from Y/N’s hands and guided Wanda into the bathroom, "let’s go or you’ll smell like a tropical cocktail for the rest of the night."
Y/N and Kate watched as Wanda and Natasha walked into the bathroom, that Kate made sure no one was in before starting their plan, and then closed the door behind them. "Good job." Y/N admitted to Kate as she lifted her hand up to her without moving her eyes away from the closed bathroom door.
"Thanks, you did good too." Kate high-fived Y/N as her eyes also stayed glued to her bathroom door, before turning towards her assistant mischievously, "we’re a good team."
"Yeah. Now let’s go, you owe me a new drink."
"No, you owe me one." Kate objected and made Y/N snort at her as she shook her head in fond exasperation, but complied anyway as the two made their way towards the counter to make themselves their drinks.
-
"Good morning, Y/N/N!" Y/N lifted her head up from the papers she was sorting out on her desk when Wanda’s voice interrupted her, watching as the girl walked to her desk and sat on her chair with a brighter-than-the-sun smile, something that made Y/N grin too.
"Good morning to you too. In a good mood today?" Y/N asked causally while sitting up from her chair and walking towards Wanda’s desk to sit on it like she usually did on the early working hours when others employees and their bosses haven’t showed up yet, in her smile no trace of her knowing why the redhead was so happy.
"I’m always in a good mood, Y/N/N." Wanda tried to elude Y/N’s question as she avoided eye contact with her. Y/N had a feeling something happened between Wanda and Natasha Friday night and she knew Wanda would spill everything out by just meeting her eyes, but since the girl was avoiding them at all costs, she used other ways to let her talk.
"How was your weekend?"
"Oh you know, same old stuff. Caught up on some sleep, watched a few tv shows, slept some more. Yours?" Wanda answered vaguely, still avoiding Y/N’s gaze as she busied herself with tidying up her desk that was already pretty neat since they hadn’t started working yet.
"Hm, I had to do a few things Kate asked me to do Friday night. Oh speaking of which, I’m sorry again for spilling my drink on you."
At the mention of Friday night, Y/N noticed Wanda’s eyes widened almost imperceptibly as she stopped just a moment in her tracks before resuming her actions to not rise suspicion, "don’t worry, Y/N/N."
"Did you left right after? I tried to find you but you were gone."
"Oh- y-yeah. I- t-the blouse was drenched, I went home because I couldn’t fix the stain." Y/N noticed how Wanda stammered in her explanation and she knew she was ready to relent and tell her what really happened that night, so she just pushed Wanda’s buttons a bit more to make her spill the tea.
"Hm, yeah, that’s understandable." Wanda sighed out of relief when Y/N didn’t say anything else, but almost fainted and fell off her chair at Y/N’s next question, spoken with an innocent lilt in her tone but with a cheeky grin on her lips, "and did you get the hickey on your neck before or after going home?"
Wanda then whipped her head towards Y/N and finally met her eyes with her own widened comically, "I-I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"I think you do. You tried to cover it up with makeup, but it’s too dark for your skin. It’s showing out, like- a lot."
Wanda tried to hold Y/N’s knowing gaze but after a few, painful seconds she relented with a loud sigh, "what do you know?"
"That Natasha definitely helped you out with your blouse." Y/N stated out loud with a proud, knowing smirk, and wiggled her eyebrows mischievously when a deep red blush appeared on Wanda’s cheeks.
"She- I- yeah."
"Oh my god! I’m so happy for you, Wan. Tell me everything!"
Wanda smiled softly at her friend as she fidgeted with her hands and nodded gently but before she could open her mouth, Kate came strolling down the hallway and stopped in front of Y/N sat on Wanda’s desk, "good morning Wanda, good morning Y/N."
"Good morning, Kate." Wanda smiled widely at the black haired girl, hoping with all her heart her blush at least faded a bit.
"Good morning, Kate." Y/N repeated Wanda’s words and greeted her boss, watching her with a knowing smirk on and a certain glint in her eyes, making Kate understand right away what she was silently telling her.
"So, did it work?" Kate asked hopeful, her eyes filling up with mirth when Y/N nodded with a bright grin, shamelessly asking about Wanda with the girl right beside them, who stared at the two girls confused.
"What did it work?" Wanda asked confusedly, biting nervously on her bottom as she worried at the two girls sharing knowing smirks and looks.
Y/N ignored Wanda’s question and answered Kate’s one, her grin broadening, "yup."
Kate stared at Wanda a few seconds, intimidating Wanda as her ocean blue eyes scrutinized her up and down, before she spoke up with a proud smile, now directed at Y/N, "you owe me 50 bucks." And with that Kate walked away from the two girls and into her office, leaving Wanda with her jaw falling on the ground as realization fell on her.
"Yeah, I know." Y/N sighed out as she yelled at her boss before she could close her office’s door and then turning back towards her friend, smiling innocently at a furious looking Wanda.
"Hold on, did you bet on me and Natasha with Kate?!" Wanda asked with an incredulous expression on her features, letting go of the pencil she was holding in her shock, the wooden object clinking loudly on the desk as it fell down.
"Kinda." Y/N tried to downplay what really happened but one pointed look from Wanda made her sigh out dejectedly, "okay, yeah, we did."
"That’s just- wait, hold on." Wanda was ready to give Y/N an earful about betting on herself and Natasha when something Kate said piqued her curiosity again, "Kate asked you if something worked out. What was she talking about?" At that the Y/H/C girl immediately avoided Wanda’s eyes, focusing them on a random item on Wanda’s desk and picking it up.
"Oh wow is this new? I am sure it is, because it totally wasn’t there-."
"Y/N." Wanda stopped Y/N in her attempt of deflecting her question with an authoritative, hard tone that left no space from any more avoiding from Y/N, making the Y/E/C girl let out a resigned breath as she placed Wanda’s stapler back down on her desk.
"We kinda teamed up to make you and Natasha happen on Friday night." Y/N quickly spit out the words and closed her eyes in anticipation, waiting for Wanda’s wrath, but it never came so Y/N tentatively opened one eye to see Wanda’s reaction.
"You two- what?!" Wanda was only capable of emitting those three words, too much focused on replaying Friday night’s events to connect all the dots, but coming up empty. "What did you two do?"
"We planned on spilling that drink on you. I was sure that you both needed a little push, especially Natasha. But it worked right? You spent the night with her, right?"
"Well yeah, but- Y/N!" Wanda leaned forward and slapped Y/N on her bicep, making the girl groan in pain.
"Ohw!"
"That’s what you deserve for what you did." Wanda repeated the gesture, making Y/N groan in pain again before she stared at her in disbelief, her arms opening in bewilderment at the redhead slapping her again, but the girl nodded resolutely, "and that was meant for Kate, but since I can’t hit our boss, I hit you."
"How convenient." Y/N rolled her eyes at Wanda’s logic while caressing her arm to ease the light sting there, Wanda nodding again resolutely.
"And this-." Wanda trailed off to sit up from her chair and Y/N instantly lifted her arms up to shield herself from Wanda’s attack, but relaxed right away when Wanda hugged her tightly, despite the embrace being a bit uncomfortable with Y/N’s hands still between their bodies. "Is for what you two did." Wanda finished her sentence in a grateful tone, leaning her head back and staring into Y/N’s eyes with appreciation glinting in them, before laying a small peck on her left cheek.
"I only wanted you two to be finally happy. You both deserve it." Y/N admitted truthfully, smiling softly at Wanda as she pulled fully away from the embrace and sat back down on her chair, the redhead reciprocating the gesture right away, "now, tell me everything."
-
"Y/N, do you have any reports about that new technology Tony tested?"
"Yeah, hold on- I have it right here." Y/N rummaged through the stack of papers she had in her arms with only one hand as she struggled a bit on not making them fall on the ground as the other held the stack of papers still, and sighed out loud when she came up empty. "Hm, I think I have it on my desk."
"Okay, you’ll give it to me later. You can go for now." Kate dismissed Y/N while never breaking her eyes on whatever she was typing away on her phone, her eyebrows furrowed in a small, focused frown.
"Don’t forget your meeting will start in 20 minutes."
"What meeting?" Kate stopped her fingers’ movements on her phone and looked up at Y/N in a mix of confusion and panic.
"With those investors from Germany."
"Fuck! Was it today?" Kate asked in alarm, frantically looking through the mess that was on her desk to find the sticky note she was sure she put somewhere to remember about that important meeting. After about 10 seconds she found it under hundreds of papers and sighed out in frustration, "shit, I completely forgot about it!"
"Do you need something to help you prepare everything for it?"
"No, I luckily had everything ready for weeks. I am just- shit- worried. A deal with them is really important for us. It’s a lot of pressure and I would’ve liked a little bit more than 20 minutes to get ready properly." Kate moved her eyes from Y/N’s figure standing in the middle of her office to fixate her eyes on the sticky note to calm her nerves down, sighing loudly.
"Is there something else I can do for you?" After a few seconds of silence of Y/N watching Kate closing herself off in her brain still staring at her desk pensively, she spoke up softly, effectively pulling her out of her thoughts.
"Hm, no, thank you. I just need some time alone to get myself ready, like I always do for important meetings. Don’t wait for me. Go welcome our guests when they will arrive, I’ll meet you there." Kate stated in a calm tone while massaging her temples, Y/N staring at her in worry.
"Okay, if you need anything, just call me." Y/N reassured Kate on her way out of the door, looking at her through her shoulder before she could walk out of Kate’s office and watched her nod with a small, grateful smile.
"Will do. Thank you."
With that, Y/N exited the room and sighed out loud again as she walked towards her desk to put away the stack of papers she had in her hands, before searching the reports Kate asked her, finding them in a folder in the first drawer of her desk with ‘TONY’ written down on it. She took the folder and placed it beside her computer, ready to give it to Kate as soon as she finished with her meeting before focusing on tidying up a few more papers littered on her desk. Ten minutes or so later she looked to her right, towards Wanda’s desk, and found it empty, knowing the girl was already in the conference room with Jane, Natasha and Shuri to review a few things before the meeting. She let out a small breath before checking the time. She still got about 6 minutes before she had to be in the conference room to welcome their guests, so she sat up, grabbed her notebook and pen to take a few notes during the meeting and got ready to walk towards the conference room, but stopped in her tracks when she noticed Kate’s office door was slightly ajar and furrowed her eyebrows in thought. Kate hated being interrupted as she got ready for important meetings, so she always asked Y/N to close the door to prevent anyone to disturb her. Her now leaving her desk to go to the meeting room meant she couldn’t stop anyone from disturbing Kate and the door slightly ajar also meant they could think Kate wasn’t actually busy and could just knock, disturbing her in the process. With a small sigh, the girl shook her head and walked towards Kate’s office door, not wanting to deal with an angry Kate in the near future. She grabbed the doorknob and got ready to pull the door close, when a small sound blocked her. It couldn’t be what she thought she just heard, could it? Y/N stayed frozen in front of Kate’s office door for a few moments, her left hand gripping the doorknob hard as she stared with widened eyes at Kate’s black couch through the small crack the door created, her heartbeat so loud in her ears it almost deafened her. When about 10 seconds passed and no strange sound echoed from Kate’s office, Y/N sighed out in relief, thankful that what she thought she heard was probably just the door squeaking loudly. The Y/H/C girl almost chocked on her own saliva when a moment later she heard that sound again, louder this time. It was unmistakable. Kate was moaning. Y/N felt a mix of emotions hit her all at once and it astonished her she wasn’t exactly feeling what she should actually feel when you walk in on your boss moaning, like disgust, horror or uneasiness. No, she actually felt a little bit of shock, but also eagerness and most importantly arousal and instead of focusing on why she was actually feeling that way or to stop eavesdropping on Kate and feel dirty for spying on Kate’s personal space, she tried to take a better look into Kate’s office through the small crack she had available, but sighed out in frustration when she could only see the side of Kate’s desk.
Then, instead of walking away, Y/N tried to open the door just a slightly bit more, thankful it didn’t squeak loudly in the process, and almost fainted when she could now partially see Kate, sat on her chair, facing the windows behind her, and with the back of her chair facing the door. From her angle she could see the blue eyed girl’s right arm was moving rhythmically up and down, leaving no doubts about what Kate was actually doing. A shiver run down Y/N’s spine when Kate whined again under her breath as she noticed she sped up her movements, telling Y/N she was ready to come and that immediately increased her body temperature as a familiar pressure formed in her lower stomach. Y/N knew it was wrong what she was doing and she was glad no one was around to catch her spying on her boss masturbating, but she couldn’t walk away, she felt stuck on her spot as her eyes couldn’t detach from Kate’s arm moving. Her body reacted to every breath, whine or moan Kate emitted, filling her up each passing second with need, need for her and for her release, a release that didn’t take long to come (no pun intended). After about a couple of more seconds with Kate’s whines coming out incessantly, Kate came with a long, breathy moan but with the heartbeat loud in her ears and from her distance Y/N wasn’t able to hear what Kate murmured under her breath. "Fuck." Y/N whispered under her breath and shivered wildly when what she just witnessed caught up on her. She immediately shook herself out of her lustful haze, closed the door as quietly as she could to not be caught by Kate, before walking, no, sprinting, towards the conference room.
-
Y/N typed quickly on her keyboard to update the report of their meeting, feeling her forehead sweating while she shook her right knee up and down frantically under her desk. Even if on the outside she looked laser-focused on her task, she was actually far from that on the inside. She was freaking out as images she witnessed about two hours ago still plagued her mind, increasing the pressure she felt between her legs and the shame she felt for what she had done and what she was feeling. During the whole meeting Y/N sat in her chair staring into space, replaying Kate’s moans over and over in her head and beating herself up for feeling arousal for everything she witnessed. Am I really crushing on my boss?! That’s- just- too much. I mean yeah, she is hot, not to mention smart and witty and extremely beautiful. But she is my boss!!! Fuck I’m so screwed right now. What do I do? I will pretend it never happened, duh. "Y/N, you’re gonna break that thing in half." Wanda snickered when she returned from the printer and noticed the girl’s harsh typing.
"Sorry- I-."
"It went fucking amazing!" Kate exclaimed as she came out of nowhere and placed her hand on Y/N’s left shoulder, making the girl jump up in her chair as she let out a shriek that almost sounded like a moan, but she was thankful neither Kate nor Wanda noticed as they were too busy laughing at Y/N’s reaction.
"Sorry. You just- scared me." To be completely honest Y/N heard Kate approaching her, she just didn’t expect her to touch her and she jumped up not in fright but because her body almost exploded at her touch.
"Remind me to come up behind you and scare you more often. That was hilarious." Kate admitted as she chuckled heartily and patted her on the shoulder, while Wanda calmed down from her giggles and sat at her desk to finish a few tasks Jane assigned to her.
"Yeah, yeah." Y/N dismissed Kate with a wave of her hand, still trying to calm herself down and get a grip on herself. She was Kate’s assistant. She worked with her every day, all day long. She needed to stop feeling this way towards her boss.
"Oh, are these Tony’s reports?" Y/N nodded at the girl as she avoided her eyes at all costs, fearing she would literally melt under her gaze. She just needed to avoid looking and be near her for a while. But it was proven a really difficult task right away when Kate leaned over her to grab the folder on her desk, causing her left boob to grasp her right arm. When she felt she was about to moan out embarrassingly, Kate straightened up and opened the folder, before sitting on Y/N’s desk as she reviewed the papers in there. Y/N definitely didn’t focus her eyes between Kate’s legs as they were slightly spread- hm no, no- opened in front of her as planted her left foot on the floor to balance herself on the desk, focusing instead on her hand close to Kate’s knee that was itching to touch her, silently communicating with it to not move. If someone knew her inner turmoil, they would’ve found the scene hilarious. "Hm, there’s something not working out in these." Kate admitted in a hum as she skidded her eyes quickly on the words written all over again, "did Tony sent us his device?"
"Yes, Natasha showed it to Shuri before the meeting." Wanda answered when Y/N dumbly opened and closed her mouth without responding, making the redhead stare at her in confusion but also curiosity as she tried to meet her gaze, while Kate stayed focused on the papers in her hands.
"Okay great. This definitely needs an electronic engineer’s review. Y/N, can you go get the device and come into my office? I need your help with this."
"Y-yeah. No problem." Y/N stuttered before taking a long breath, calming her heartbeat down, then immediately sprinting up her chair when Kate sat up from her seating position on Y/N’s desk, something that didn’t go unnoticed by the redhead that made a mental note to ask Y/N what was happening before she could go get the device Kate needed to review.
"Great, I’ll wait you in my office." And with that, Kate walked away without breaking her focus from the papers in her hands, entered her office and closed the door behind her.
"I- I need to go. Are we still up for tonight?"
"Yeah, we will pick you up at 9." Wanda nodded before quickly sitting up from her chair and stopping Y/N as she almost flew to the elevator but Wanda stopped her with a hand on her arm, "Y/N/N, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I’m fine. Why are you asking?" Y/N let out in one quick breath and slapped her forehead inwardly for sounding totally okay.
"What happened?" Wanda asked with worried eyes when she saw conflict appear on Y/N’s face as she debated on telling Wanda what happened a few hours prior or not, in the end deciding to tell her the truth, hoping to at least relieve her nerves and guilt.
"B-before the meeting, I-." Y/N looked around herself to make sure no one was listening to them and almost rolled her eyes when she remembered they were the only occupants of that floor beside Jane and Kate, before continuing, spilling out words as fast as humanly possible, "IsawKatemasturbate."
"I’m sorry, what? Can you repeat? Slower this time. You sounded like my brother on his fourth coffee of the day." Wanda snorted at her own joke as she thought over her brother when he had too much caffeine in his system, but chocked on her saliva when Y/N repeated herself, spelling her words out slowly this time.
"I saw Kate masturbate."
"WHAT?!" Wanda screeched in shock as her eyes widened comically, making Y/N shush her as she frantically looked around them again.
"Shhh!"
"Wha- how?!?!"
"I will explain everything later, I need to go or I won’t finish in time and we will be late for tonight."
"Okay, but I need to know everything!" Y/N nodded and quickly run to the elevator to get the device she will need to review with Kate, feeling butterflies in her stomach at the thought, but tried to calm herself down to be as professional as she could.
-
"Ugh, I don’t understand why it’s not working. Tony wrote that he already started working on a solution on this flaw." Y/N groaned after about three hours of reviewing Tony’s reports on the device with Kate, already feeling her uneasiness leave her as she focused on what she was good at.
"I think we need a break from all of this. We can go to my place. I think we are the only people left in here." Kate stated as she looked out of her office and saw only a few lights still on, the others already been shut off by the guards.
"I- I actually have p-plans. It’s Friday night and-."
"Y/N, you don’t need to reason with me." Kate stopped Y/N before she could start rambling with a small smile on her lips and a soft expression on her features, "we can continue on Monday, it’s fine. Or I could work on it myself during the weekend."
"I- I- hm- do you want to tag along tonight?" Y/N screamed inside at her stupid mouth talking before she could give it permission and tried to frantically explain her totally out of nowhere and especially unprofessional question, "I-I mean this way we can continue talking about the device, o-or not. I mean you- I was just-."
"Y/N, breathe." Kate interrupted Y/N with a warm smile on her lips and placed her hands on her shoulders to help her calm down, "yes."
"I-you- what?" Kate’s hands placement was meant to calm Y/N down, but it was only worsening as she was now freaking out for completely different reasons.
"I said yes. I totally need a night out to get rid of this week’s stress. I didn’t have plans tonight other than staying at home watching TV. It will be fun." Kate shrugged and finally moved her hands off of Y/N, letting Y/N breathe normally again.
"I- great. It will be fun." Y/N repeated with more of a grimace instead of a grin and took another deep breath to prevent her heart to beat out of her ribcage.
"Well then, let’s go. Do you need a ride?"
"No I- will take the bus." Y/N waved Kate off but sighed out a moment later when she checked the time and noticed she missed it by an hour.
"Yeah, I’m sure they are waiting for you to finish working." Kate cracked a joke and snorted at her words, "c’mon. I’ll take you home." Kate sent Y/N a soft smile as she shook her head gently and continued, "let me just grab my things and we can go."
"O-kay. Thank you." Y/N stuttered nervously, watching Kate grab her phone, her car keys and her coat and as she waited, her mind decided to let her remember what she witnessed that same day, her eyes immediately flying to the chair Kate was sat in a few moments prior as her body temperature rose once again.
"Are you ready to go?" Kate pulled Y/N out of her head, grateful she pulled her mind out of the gutter before it could spiral out of control and nodded with a gentle smile.
"Hm, yeah, I just need to take my coat and we can go."
-
"Here we go." Kate parked outside Y/N’s building about 40 minutes later, their car ride surprisingly comfortable as they talked about the device some more alongside with a few things to get to know each other more. "We live close each other." Kate pointed out as she took a look around and recognized that part of the city, not too far from the block her apartment was in.
"Yeah, I know." Y/N smiled at Kate, remembering the night she walked in on Kate fucking a girl and before her mind could spiral out of control again with images of Kate masturbating, she just nodded with a snort, not exactly sure if she could exit the car just yet or wait for Kate’s signal or something like that.
"Hm, listen, since we live close, I can pick you up in an hour so we can meet the others there." Kate suggested after silence fell down in the car, not completely awkward but not exactly comfortable.
Y/N was pretty sure she melted onto Kate’s car’s expensive leather seat at the girl acting shy as she asked her question, a sight Y/N wasn’t used to since she had always watched Kate stand tall and carrying so much confidence at work, "yeah, that would be great. I’ll see you in an hour." Y/N agreed without actually thinking properly, but she couldn’t say no to that pretty face literally begging her to come pick her up, so she just took a mental note to call Wanda as soon as she got home to tell her to meet them at the club.
"Great." The two said goodbye with soft smiles and Kate waited for Y/N to enter her building before speeding away towards her apartment, causing Y/N to literally ask the butterflies in her stomach to stop going crazy at the gesture as she took the elevator to her apartment floor. As soon as Y/N closed her apartment door, she grabbed her phone and dialed Wanda’s number and put her on speaker, meanwhile getting rid of her shoes and discarding her pants and jacket on the couch. The redhead answered after 3 rings right as Y/N took off her blouse too, leaving her with just her bra and underwear on.
"Hello?"
"Hey Wan, I called to tell you, you don’t need to pick me up anymore. I’ll meet you there in an hour and a half."
"Did you buy a car in the last four hours?" Wanda asked amusedly at the girl’s words, snorting at her own joke.
"No, I-." Y/N trailed off to think about the best way to deliver to Wanda the news about Kate joining them at the club without having the girl tease her about it to no end but came up empty-handed, so she just decided to deliver the news right away, just like ripping off a bandaid, and hoped Wanda was on her best behavior, "Kate is picking me up."
"I’m sorry, I think I lost signal for a second. Did I heard Kate is picking you up?"
Y/N sighed out at the girl’s mocking tone as she sat on her bed, pinching the bridge of her nose and getting herself ready for the endless teasing, "yeah, I- I invited her tonight."
"Are you serious?" When Y/N stayed quiet at the question, Wanda gasped in shock, "tell me everything!"
"I will try to summarize everything really quick, I still need to shower and Kate will be here in less than an hour." Y/N purposefully ignored Wanda’s knowing ‘hum’ and continued, "we were working on a few flaws Tony’s device has and she started to get frustrated because we didn’t make any improvement, so she wanted to take a break and asked me to continue at her place, but when I told her I already had plans- Wan you should have seen her face, she was so sad. So I asked her to join us. Then she drove me home, realized we live close and asked me to come pick me up. Again she was so adorably hopeful for me to say yes- so I couldn’t say no to her and here we are."
Wanda stayed quiet for a couple of seconds, a wide smirk making its way on her face as she listened to Y/N, sure Y/N could detect it in her tone, "so when were you gonna tell me you had a crush on our boss?"
"WhAT?!" Y/N screeched as she choked up on her saliva, a blush immediately appearing on her cheeks while her heartbeat increased.
"Oh, don’t play dumb with me, Y/N/N. You like her. I honestly had been having my suspects for about two weeks, but this just confirmed everything. I find it extremely cute."
"No Wan, I don’t have a crush on Kate. Yeah she is hot, extremely smart and-and she carries so much confidence during meetings with misogynous men, making her look so powerful- and she can be so- so effortlessly beautiful- and-." Y/N trailed off to sigh out loud when she noticed she just literally gushed about Kate with Wanda and slapped her forehead when she heard the redhead squeal in excitement.
"Oh my god! You have a crush on Kate! Ah! Okay, now it’s not the time to fangirl. You need to get ready. Put on the sexiest thing you have and if you don’t make a move tonight I will literally slap you in front of her."
"Wan did you gone fucking crazy? I can’t make a move on her."
"Why not?"
"Because I’m her assistant and she is my boss. I will never make a move on her. She will definitely fire me and I need this job. Not to mention I spied on her masturbating this morning!" Y/N reasoned as she massaged her temples to relieve the stress she started feeling in that moment once again. Before going into Kate’s office with the device, Y/N told Wanda everything that happened before the meeting and after enduring Wanda teasing her, she walked into Kate’s office to work on the device’s flaws. She would love for something to happen between her and Kate, but they weren’t in a romantic movie. Nothing will happen between them. She won’t give herself hope to have her heart broken.
"What if she doesn’t fire you? What if she likes you back?" Wanda tried to reason with Y/N too, wanting her friend to find happiness just like she did with Natasha and she had to thank Y/N and Kate for that. So she will do everything in her power to make them happen and make them happy like they did with her and Natasha.
"It won’t happen, Wan."
"What if it will?" Wanda pushed, getting a little bit angry at Y/N dismissing everything like she wasn’t even willing to try.
"It won’t, Wan. I don’t want to get my hopes up. I- I need to go. It’s getting late. I will see you soon, okay?"
Wanda let out a frustrated breath but let the girl be for now, "okay, but please, put something nice. It won’t hurt trying."
"Just admit you want to see me in a sexy dress." Y/N tried to joke to lift up the heavy air that surrounded their call and smiled in relief when the redhead snorted under her breath.
"Keep dreaming, Y/L/N."
With that, the two girls hung up and Y/N sprinted into the shower to get ready as quickly as humanly possible since Kate would be there in 45 minutes.

Between the sun setting earlier in the evening and the cold fronts coming in quick, your seasonal depression was taking over. Though summer could be a little too hot for you at times, you found your mood to be changing with each passing day.
Your bed started to become your best friend and Lucky felt your pain, as he looked to have gained a pound or two. It didn’t help that he always joined you in your activities, even if they consisted of eating your favorite treats while watching ‘New Girl’ in the dark.
To top it all off, your job made it all too easy to stay home. While most days you taxied to work in person, you have been taking advantage of the fact you have the option to work from home. Lately, there has been a lot more home and a lot less work.
It was just another day and you heard the door downstairs open and close, indicating that Kate was home. You were asleep when she had left, so you were not sure exactly when she had left. Since Kate was in the process of moving up in Bishop Security, she was gone at odd hours of the day. You could consider it being on call.
“Babe, I’m home!” Kate yelled through the house.
You always felt guilty for going through spells of depression, even though you knew you couldn’t help it. It didn’t take away from the fact that you felt useless and lazy, especially when you could see how hard Kate was working.
“There you are,” Kate said, acting surprised as if you hadn’t been in bed for three days. “You’re up early.”
“Am I?” you questioned. You hadn’t even thought to look at the clock.
“It’s about eight in the morning, the day is still young,” she smiled. “Speaking of…”
Kate trailed off a bit and you could tell in her voice that she was about to suggest something that you may love or hate. Most ideas lately you resented the thought of.
“When I was coming home, I was thinking that it would be nice to have a little date day?” Kate suggested lightly, knowing that it could be a long shot. “I know things have been a little bit tough lately and I want to treat you.”
She waited for your response, whether that was verbal or physical. You weren’t turned off by the idea, but nothing sounded better than staying home.
“Please?” Kate said with a pouty face.
“Are you begging now?” you asked.
“Maybe,” Kate giggled. She came over and sat on your side of the bed, looking at you closer now. That’s when the puppy dog eyes began.
“Now that’s not fair,” you whined. “You know how I feel when you do that.”
“That’s exactly why I’m doing it,” Kate smiled.
She stared longer and longer until you said “yes,” with a reluctant groan.
“That’s what I like to hear!” Seeing the excitement on Kate’s face made it worth it for you. You could tell your sadness had affected her too, whether or not she would admit it.
“What are we going to do?”
“That’s the best part, it’s a surprise,” Kate grinned from behind the closet door that she rushed to in order to find clothes for you. “It’s chilly today so you need to wear your nice coat.”
You groaned and flopped down on the bed. “But I hate that coat, it makes me all itchy.”
“I know honey, but it’s the only way you will stay warm, I promise. And that’s coming from me.” Kate was never one to wear thick clothing or layers, usually one coat would suffice.
Kate laid everything out nicely for you and helped you get ready as fast as you could. She was anxious for the both of you to leave the house and spend the day together, something that rarely happened.
Once you were carefully bundled, Kate practically dragged you and Lucky both out of the apartment and into the bustling city.
“Okay, first things first, we need caffeine,” Kate declared.
You already knew where she was taking you because you always went to the same coffee shop close to the apartment. It was also the place that you and Kate had your first date, making it special each time you went.
“You wanna hold onto Lucky and I can go in and order for us?” Kate asked and you agreed.
You didn’t want to admit it yet, but being outside felt amazing. With each passing minute there was a part of you that felt rejuvenated. The temperature was perfect for you, making it cozy but not unbearable. The chilly wind pierced your skin and gave you the wake up call you had been begging for.
After a few minutes, Kate came back out to join you. “Your usual, dear.” She handed you the warm cup and you shivered. The warmth from your drink gave you even more motivation to enjoy the day together.
You walked several blocks with Kate leading the way before you dared to ask where you were going. “So, where are you taking me?”
“I see what you’re trying to do,” she said. “I’m not telling you, but nice try.”
You groaned and walked on. The farther you walked down the street the more crowded it became with both people and dogs. Up ahead, you could now see groups of people blocking the road and you assumed you were headed that way as well.
Kate took your hand now, comforting you as you both moved through the sea of people. When you made it towards the front, you could see now what Kate was taking you to see.
“Is this the Halloween Dog Parade?” you asked excitedly.
“Are you surprised?!” Kate said with glee.
“Are you kidding me? Of course I am!”
The annual dog parade was an event you always wanted to attend each year, but something always got in the way. This year, you hadn’t even given it a thought, but your girlfriend remembered. She always remembered.
You watched as dogs of all kinds walked down the street dressed in everything from food to movie characters. Your personal favorite was the little dog dressed as Bob from ‘Beetlejuice.’
As the parade wrapped up, you couldn’t keep the smile off your face. You couldn’t remember the last time you were this happy. Whether it was the energy in the city, the autumn feeling, or the sheer fact you were finally spending quality time with your girlfriend, there was no stopping your light from shining.
“Onto the next adventure,” Kate said. She grabbed your hand once again and pulled you in another direction.
“You should have warned me we would be doing this much walking, or else maybe I would have worn different shoes,” you said uncomfortably while moving your feet around in your shoes.
“I’m sorry, babe.” Kate genuinely seemed upset, which made you feel bad for ever complaining in the first place. “We can go back and you can grab some different shoes?”
“I’m afraid if we go back we may not leave again,” you laughed. “Let’s keep going!”
The look on your face was enough to make Kate’s life. She was so grateful for your happiness that she hadn’t seen for several weeks. You walked several more blocks until you had reached Central Park.
“It’s so beautiful,” you sighed.
Taking a break from the concrete buildings seemed to be all the medicine you needed. You looked into the park and saw a flood or orange and red leafed trees. You had spent so much time looking down that you were reminded to finally look up.
There were families running through the grass and dogs playing happily through the leaves. In addition, the amount of food vendors made your stomach growl, not realizing how hungry you were.
Kate looked at you after the noise from your stomach caught her off guard. “I guess that’s a sign it’s time to eat,” Kate laughed. “My vote is a good old fashioned New York hot dog.”
“I raise you a soft pretzel and cheese,” you rebutted with a smiling scowl.
“Hmm,” Kate thought. “You have a deal!”
You laughed and wrapped your arms around her waist while she placed her arm around your shoulders. You walked together through the park until you made it to the pretzel stand. You each got your own to snack on while you strolled through the park.
You switched from holding hands, linking arms, and holding each other while you walked. You weren’t always someone who enjoyed PDA, but you were proud to be with Kate Bishop.
There were so many beautiful things. From the way the wind ran through the leaves to make them fall delicately on the ground to form piles for the children to play in, to the view on your left of Kate guiding you through the park on the most perfect day.
You hadn’t realized how much you needed this day until you were living it. Kate knew your heart inside and out.
Once you had walked as much of the park you could, you made it back to where you started.
“I have just one more place to take you and then we will be done,” Kate instructed you.
At this point, you would follow her anywhere. She made you forget that your feet were even hurting in the first place.
After walking several blocks you stopped in front of ‘The Strand,’ your favorite book store. You could spend hours walking along the aisles of books that were waiting for you to open their pages.
“Ta-da!” Kate said. “Now, I want you to pick out whatever your heart desires. It’s on me.”
“Kate, I can’t-”
“You can, and you will.”
You knew Kate was in the position to do so, but that did not make you feel any less guilty. “Whatever you say,” you smiled, unable to contain your excitement. “Wait, but what about Lucky?”
“Don’t worry, he and I will slum it out here next to the heat lamps, we’ll be alright,” Kate replied. “But that also means you can’t take five years.”
“Well, that might be hard but I’ll try my best,” you said sarcastically.
“Uh huh, bye now,” Kate waved you off with a smile.
You couldn’t deny how happy you were. You were able to roam all the aisles that you pleased. The smell of coffee and paper became your favorite smell, savoring it as much as you could before leaving. You ended up buying three books for your enjoyment, hoping that it would take your mind off of your struggles as of lately.
You walked out of the store with your books in hand and found Kate sitting in a chair with Lucky between her legs. She was watching the people fly by around her, while you just couldn’t take your eyes off of her.
“There you are!” Kate exclaimed. “I was about to call the cavalry, but here you are alive and well.”
“Oh please, I was gone for maybe 30 minutes… 45 minutes… okay maybe an hour.”
“Mmhmm, you owe me. My hands are practically ice.”
“I’m sorry, baby. I lost track of time,” you said sadly.
“Did you have fun?”
“Of course.”
“Then that’s all that matters,” Kate smiled. “Now, let’s get you home.”
“That sounds like my kind of party.”
“I’m so happy to see you smiling again.”
You blushed awkwardly. “Today meant a lot, thanks Bishop.”
“Don’t get all mushy on me now. How about we pop open a bottle of wine, take a bath, and end the day with a movie… preferably watching it on the couch,” Kate laughed.
“I think I’m done with beds forever,” you chuckled. “We should do this more often.”
“I couldn’t agree more.”

Author’s Note:
*tap tap* is this thing on? Well, hello! It's been a long, long time! Honestly, writer's block is a real thing, especially when you have two jobs and not enough time to daydream. Regardless, I made a promise to my friend @ittynyte, who made the awesome art for this, that I would write this for her birthday. It took me a year, but I delivered. Better late than never, right? I hope you enjoy it!
The light slipping through the curtains seemed rather blinding that morning. Perhaps it was the building headache that drilled through your brain. Maybe the ache that made itself present in your chest with every breath you took. You groaned, hating it.
You dragged yourself out of bed, the opposite side as empty as it had been the last couple of weeks. You tried not to look at it. You still couldn’t get used to the emptiness, even with time passing by.
Your freshly made black coffee alleviated the headache, but the deafening silence of your apartment only made you travel to simpler times. Your gaze fell into the wine-stained carpet that you had neglected to throw out and the incense marks left on the dark wood of your coffee table.
Even if you didn’t intend to, you could still picture it as clearly as it had happened yesterday.
“Okay, weirdos, I’m retiring to bed,” Cassie proclaimed, getting up from the couch despite the growing protests coming from the floor, where you and Kate sat. She had her back against the opposite loveseat, your feet on her lap while you used the cushions as pillows on the floor, both tipsy.
“Cass, it’s only–” Kate started, lifting her wrist to her face to see the hour, squinting her eyes. “Oh, crap. It’s 4 a.m.”
“Exactly.” Cassie retorted, grabbing her phone and her blanket from the couch she was on. “Some of us actually do want to sleep, okay?”
“Party pooper.” You said, matter-of-factly. Cassie only rolled her eyes, throwing a kiss in your direction.
“Don’t finish my wine!”
You and Kate made a similar sound in response, before looking at each other and exploding into giggles.
It wasn’t often that you spent time with Kate. Between your jobs, school, and her multiple sports practices, it was hard to hang out. And it was a shame, really, because you did enjoy Kate’s company. She was funny, and not bad to look at. She was brilliant, too, but not in a way that made you feel less than. No, her brilliance was something that not a lot of people gave her credit for. It was in the way she spoke so eloquently about the things she was passionate about. Like in that moment, starting a rant on why vinyl records were a much better way to capture audio than any other. You could have listened to her forever, go on about how listening to records was an immersive physical experience that simply could never be replicated. Almost like that moment, too.
“Simply the quality of the audio should be enough to choose vinyl!” Kate continued saying.
“Streaming is more convenient, though,” you replied with a mischievous grin. “I can only press play on a silly little app on my phone and listen.”
Kate rolled her eyes, the tiniest of smiles drawn on her lips, pushing your feet off her lap to get up. “I can’t believe you just said that.”
“Where do you think you are going?” You asked, faking offense. “See? You can’t even defend your argument.”
“Shut up, I’m getting more wine,” Kate said, picking up your glass from the coffee table.
The bottle of red wine that Cassie left opened on the counter was already half-empty, and it wasn’t your first. You watched as Kate poured the wine into the glasses, a curl of long black hair falling into her perfectly sculptured face as she did so. You allowed yourself this momentary silence to admire her, from the curve of her nose to the shape of her lips. You never wonder why half the world seemed to be enthralled in that woman—you had experienced it firsthand, every time she was around. The light in her smile was enough to leave anyone breathless. However, you were aware that Kate Bishop was not the kind of person who would ever find it within herself to settle down. If anything, adrenaline was her lover, and danger was her spouse. Anything that kept her away from those things was merely a distraction.
You never let yourself daydream about her. But you would occasionally indulge in her beauty.
“I can prove it to you,” you heard Kate say as she returned to the living room, placing both glasses on the coffee table. She walked toward the TV stand, where Cassie kept all of her records, which had originally prompted the conversation. She kneeled in front of them, lightly brushing the spine of the covers as she lowly murmured the names on them to herself. After a little while, a small ‘aha’ escaped Kate’s lips, pulling a record.
“Katherine,” you called her in a whisper-yell. “Cassie literally just went to sleep.”
Kate scoffed, not even bothering to look your way as she pulled the record from its case and placed it as carefully as possible on the record player. “Please, she’s probably knocked out by now. She won’t hear us.”
You shook your head in disapproval, reaching for your wine glass, with a faint smile dancing on your lips. The soft sound of a male voice, accompanied by a soft bassline and high hats in the background started filling the room. You watched Kate smile satisfied as you took a sip of your wine, the dryness reminding you why you actually preferred the cheap rosé Cassie liked. She hummed along to the music, swaying side to side a bit as she walked toward you.
“Do you hear that? How clear every instrument is?” Kate said with a grin. “You can’t tell me you get that from Apple Music.”
“Who do you think I am?” You replied, the laugh present in your voice. “I use Spotify, doofus.”
“Even worse.” Kate sighed, grabbing her wine and extending her free hand in your direction.
You arched your eyebrows, skeptical. “Hello to you too?”
The brunette rolled her eyes, but her hand never faltered. “Dance with me.”
The question took you by surprise, but not more than your own hand moving forward to take hers without even thinking about it. She pulled you off the couch, spilling a bit of wine onto the carpet. You would have winced at it on any other occasion, but you had no mental capacity for anything other than Kate. She flushed your body to hers, her hand leaving yours to rest on your waist, yours finding its way to her shoulder while the swaying continued.
“How is dancing going to prove your point?” You managed to say, thankful your voice didn’t register the sudden anxiety that started filling your body.
Kate shrugged, sipping at her wine. The glint in her eyes made them seem even bluer, an endless sea full of wonder. “It just felt like a good idea.”
A huff escaped you, unable to stop the smile on your lips because, of course, Kate would say that. You heard her start humming the song again, her head moving slightly side to side in the same motion the both of you did. There was something in the air, unspoken, lingering, and you were far too nervous to speak. You weren’t sure you would have been able to if you tried. The smile didn’t leave your lips, and she never took her eyes off yours.
A good minute into the song, she looked at you with an arched brow, mischief written all over her face. “Do you feel it yet?”
“What?”
“The music in your veins.”
You rolled your eyes, but you would be lying if you said you weren’t feeling… something. She didn’t have to know that, though. “It feels the same to me.”
Fond exasperation exuded from Kate, pressing her forehead to your shoulder in what was seemingly a move of defeat. “Come on, Y/N. Don’t do this to me.” For some reason, your heart fluttered at the sound of your name. “It’s like–” Kate started, pulling back to look at you again. “It’s like when you kiss someone you have been wanting to kiss for a long time. Everything feels like there’s a show of fireworks exploding inside you.” You saw the question in her gaze as she brought her glass up to her lips. “Do you know that feeling?”
You scrunched up your nose. “Honestly?” You shook your head, looking at the floor. “I don’t think anyone has ever made me feel like that.”
Her eyes widened in surprise, her movements so fast that the glass of wine she held in her hands slipped, just enough to get some of it on your shirt. You gasped at the cold liquid sticking your shirt to your skin, while Kate cursed under her breath, moving her glass as far away from you as she could.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry!” She exclaimed. “I was just not expecting that. Lemme just—”
Kate hurriedly grabbed the glass from your hands, and placed both cups back on the table, before attempting to head back into the kitchen to get something to clean you up. Nevertheless, you grabbed her hand at the last minute, already missing the heat of her body next to yours. She looked back at you, confused.
“The song isn’t over, Bishop.”
The faintest shade of surprise shadowed her features, but she returned to where she had previously been, her hands firmly holding your waist. You weren’t entirely sure if the goosebumps you felt were caused by her firm grip, or the cold liquid still rolling down your skin. But somewhere deep within you, you knew you would hate yourself forever if you broke the moment. If you left whatever this was slip through your fingers.
Absentmindedly, you wrapped your arms around her neck, and that seemed to bring Kate out of whichever trance she was in.
“That is a nice shirt I just ruined,” Kate muttered, still looking apologetic, and unable to contain the scarlet creeping across her cheeks. “I’m so sorry.”
“What, this old thing?” You said, resting its importance. “I was going to throw it out soon, anyways.” A smirk appeared on your face. “Besides, I’ll say it was well worth it to see the almighty Katherine Elizabeth Bishop blushing up a storm.”
Kate shook her head in disapproval, the confidence returning to sapphire blue. “Yes, well, in my defense, it was half your fault. How are you going to reveal something like that and expect me not to react?”
“I honestly don’t see what’s the big deal.”
“It’s just–” Kate sighed. “The type of thing everyone should experience at least once.”
The air felt thicker, for some reason. “Explain it to me, then. How does that feel?”
“Well,” she started, her voice now softer. “The moment right before it, there’s something in the air. Almost tangible, like electricity.” You didn’t miss the glint in her eyes, nor the glance she gave at your lips before licking her own. “You become very aware of your surroundings, of the feeling of warmth around you.”  You were not sure if you were just imagining things, but the gap between you just seemed smaller. “And your skin tingles, wondering if it is everything you’ve always thought it’d be.”
You didn’t know why, but you closed your eyes. You never let yourself daydream about her, but it would be a lie to say you said you never wondered what it would be like to kiss her. “And then what happens?”
“Fireworks.”
You hated to admit it, but she was right. After Kate pressed her soft lips against your own, the fireworks appeared. You couldn’t even describe how you felt after that night, but you were sure your life had been turned upside down.
You tried to play it off as a drunken spur-of-the-moment at first. Getting drunk and making out with your friends was part of the college experience, after all. Nevertheless, that kiss was the first of many to follow, all of them in secret, each hungrier than the one before. Kate Bishop became a constant in your life after that night, as if she was on a mission to help you find that spark you had been missing. And you found it, time and time again, in urgent kisses and impatient brushes of skin. On marks left in your collarbones; in the sound of your name escaping her mouth when you touched her where she needed you most. She was your drug, and you were at her mercy.
You wished it could have lasted an eternity, and that made you ignore the signs. Despite spending almost every night in your bed, it was rare for you to see her outside the four walls of your apartment. Despite knowing the sounds she made when she reached the highest point of ecstasy, you had never held her hand in public. And despite all your friends knowing about your arrangement, she never dared to bring it up to any of them. What you had existed in the shadows, far away from everyone’s reach.
Even your own.
Your phone chimed on the counter, a steady stream of messages appearing on the screen. Exhaling heavily, you picked it up, finally opening the thread you had been ignoring for a few days. Your friend group chat kept going off, probably for the finishing touches of the farewell party they were throwing over the weekend. Cassie, America, and Kate were heading west, leaving their entire lives behind to follow their dreams. They had even asked Peter to go with them, to make it a bit easier to start a new life surrounded by friends. The boy, however, had decided to stay home in New York, saying how he couldn’t even imagine his life without MJ with no hint of hesitation in his voice. As happy as you were for your friend, you couldn’t say that it didn’t hurt that Kate couldn’t even look at you when he said that.
Now, you weren’t naïve, you always knew where this was headed. You knew it that night, when she kissed you for the first time, and you knew it every night she looked into your eyes and told you her deepest, darkest secrets. You knew you represented everything she had never wanted. Even if, at times, it seemed like what you had could be something she wanted, she had a plan that she wouldn’t let go of. Kate Bishop would never give up a life of adrenaline and danger for a quiet life with you.
Despite knowing that, it didn’t mean it didn’t hurt.
It hurt when she told you she was leaving. It hurt when she never asked you to go with her. It hurt that she wanted to keep you until she was no longer there.
Your phone chimed again, vibrating in your hand and snapping you out of your thoughts. You looked down at the screen just in time to see your name appear in the chat.
Cassie – Y/N, are you coming to the party?
America – Of course she’s coming. She’s not letting us go before saying goodbye.
America – Right, bestie?
Peter – Yeah, Y/N, it will be so much fun! We can bully them for leaving us behind!
You sighed, your fingers hovering on the screen as you thought of a reply. As far as they were concerned, not showing up to their party would have been the highest of treasons. They were your best friends in the world, how could you possibly miss it? But if you were honest with yourself, you were not up to it, especially knowing Kate would be there. You had successfully avoided her since calling off the agreement and you had no intention of seeing her before she left.
If she wanted to pretend it had meant nothing, you could do that too.
You – Sorry, guys, working ☹ But have fun, and swing by before leaving! <3
You rolled your eyes as you added a kissy emoji at the end but sent the text anyway. It was immediately seen by three out of the six people in the group, followed by a new stream of reactions and replies that you didn’t have the willpower to pay attention to. You turned on ‘do not disturb’ and placed the phone face down on the counter, before heading into the living room to find a distraction on TV.
---
After many hours of watching several episodes of your comfort show, a loud knock on the front door startled you. You stared at the door with narrowed eyes for a moment, unsure if it had really happened or if you had just imagined the sound. As much as Cassie and America loved you, they had been so wrapped up in their move you could not imagine they would show up at your door, despite your earlier text. Another knock followed, more impatient this time.
“Coming!” You yelled, throwing the blanket off your body and getting up from the couch with a groan.
Whoever was behind the door didn’t insist, giving you enough time to pick up some food wrappers off the coffee table and throwing them in the trash. After running your fingers through your hair in an attempt to make it look better than it did from a whole day of lounging in the living room, you pulled the door open, your heart dropping to the floor the moment you saw who was disturbing your peace.
Kate Bishop, in the flesh, blue eyes shinier than ever.
You contained the desire to slam the door in her face. You just wouldn’t give her the satisfaction.
You rolled your lips, standing as tall as your frame allowed you, your chin slightly tipped upward.
“What are you doing here?”
Kate gave you one of her characteristic smirks, shrugging nonchalantly as if this was just another casual meeting. It infuriated you.
“You said to swing by before leaving, so…” She dragged the final ‘o’, her voice causing a disturbance within you that you weren’t sure how to describe.
You rolled your eyes. “That wasn’t meant for you, so!” You exclaimed, attempting to close the front door before she stopped it with her foot.
“Come on, Y/N, I just want to talk.” Kate replied, her voice now sounding more serious. “I brought a peace offering.”
Reluctantly, you flung the door open again, setting your gaze on the bouquet of flowers she was holding, pressed to her classic purple sweatshirt. Her smirk turned into a dashing smile, and you hated your heart for reacting at the mere sight of her.
“You said they were your favorite.”
You couldn’t help the bitter laugh that escaped you.
“Those are carnations,” you said, the tone of disbelief apparent in your voice.
Kate furrowed her eyebrows, bewildered. “They are not. They are roses.”
You rolled your eyes, walking back inside your apartment. Maybe it was immature to hate that she couldn’t remember your favorite flowers, but you did. At this point, you hated Kate Bishop as much as you loved her.
That is what hurt the most.
“Y/N, wait!” Kate exclaimed, closing the door behind her as she followed you. You felt the warmth of her skin through the fabric of your shirt as she reached for you, her touch as electrifying as when you danced in that very living room.
“Why did you come?” The words escaped your lips without intention.
“I told you,” Kate replied. “I just want to talk.”
“But why?” You dropped your hands to your side, the bitterness now seeping into your voice. “Why can’t you just go and leave me alone?”
“Because we–”
“No, Kate, there is no ‘we.’ You don’t want me. Stop stringing me along.”
Kate put down the flowers on the coffee table, her eyes dimming. “That is not true.”
“What’s not true?” You retorted, exasperated.
“That I don’t want you.”
You scoffed. “Oh, please, stop lying. You are leaving, Kate, not me!”
“I know, Y/N, okay? I know!” Kate sounded just as exasperated as you were. She covered her face with her palms, sighing as heavily as the words resounded across the room. “I know I hurt you and I will regret it forever.” She furiously wiped a tear from her cheek, as if she did not want you to see her like that. “It just doesn’t mean I don’t want you. I just wish I didn’t.”
The words rang in your ears, like a drum to the beat of your heart. What did it matter now? She would still leave. “Kate, just go. I don’t want to do this.”
“Listen to me.”
She walked into your space, her palms finding your waist. Your body reacted to her touch naturally, your fist falling on the top of her chest without meaning to.
“Stop...” You pleaded. She closed the gap between you, the tip of her nose almost touching yours.
“I want you so bad these last few days without you have been a torture. I wish I didn’t want you because then...” She hesitated for a second, her voice stuck in her throat. “It wouldn’t be so hard to leave.”
You wanted to hate her. You wanted to break free from her grip, move on from everything she made you feel. But you were powerless. Your body wasn’t your own. It was only an extension of the rage and sorrow and love coursing through your veins. Without thinking about it, you grabbed her cheeks, making those watery sapphire eyes glance back at you.
“Why are you so set on leaving?” You inquired, genuinely. “You don’t have to. You can stay and be everything you want to be here—with me.”
Kate pressed her cheek to your palm, closing her eyes as she shook her head. It was only then that you felt it. The way her pain mirrored yours. Two different sides of the same coin.
“I can’t,” she simply said, making it clear there was no room for question.
The decision had been made and nothing you said would change it.
Silence overcame you both, a far cry from that night full of laughter and drunken haziness that started everything. It wasn’t often that you dared to question how things have gotten this way, but in that moment, wrapped in the quiet and sorrow and everything this woman made you feel, it was inevitable. You wanted to encapsule the last few months in a snow globe, a safe keep for these memories that would haunt you for as long as you lived.
Kate pressed her forehead to yours, the tips of your noses brushing slightly. You could feel her breath on your lips, the essence of her empowering you.
“Y/N, I want you. I couldn’t leave without making sure you knew that.”
Your lips were trapped in hers before you could even have a chance to think. Your mouth molded perfectly with hers, your arms wrapping around her neck in a simple notion. As much as your brain was screaming at you to not get lost in her, this would be all you would have left. Once she left, the memory of the taste of her lips was all you could cling to. And it was as natural as breathing, following the pace she was setting. Perhaps it was foolish, and it went against everything you had said, but that was all you needed then. For a moment, everything else disappeared.
As all things do, the kiss died down slowly. You pulled away reluctantly under Kate’s expectant gaze. You exhaled deeply, trying to retain the last thread of sanity left in your body. You let go of her, feeling the weight of reality upon your shoulder all of a sudden. You closed your eyes, trying to keep the tears at bay.
“Y/N...” Kate whispered, carefully, and the sound of her voice popped the bubble.
You took a step back, pulling her away from you. “Kate,” you said. “You need to go.”
You didn’t dare to open your eyes to watch her go. You had done it once, when she told you for the first time that she would be leaving. You had no interest in doing so again. You heard the fading steps, the opening and closing of a door. You heard the rumbling in your chest, and you felt the shaking of your shoulders as pain finally overcame you.
You had lost her.
And there was no turning back.

Are You Ready
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kate Bishop x Reader
Word Count: 1857
Warnings: Pregnant!Reader, Little bit of angst, Probably a terrible description of giving birth, Fluff, Kate missing the birth, Happy ending though, I'm so fucking terrible at tagging.
Pt 1
A/n: Hope you like it. I love writing for Kate she just so adorable. Uhhh I need more Kate in my life.
NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO STEAL, COPY, OR REBLOG MY WORK AS THEIR OWN
You jolt forward in pain from a dead sleep. You grip the side of your stomach. “Fuck. Stupid braxton hicks.” You grunt through the pain. When the pain starts to dissipate you reach your hand out and pat the bed looking for your girlfriend. When you don’t feel her you turn to look at the side of her bed seeing it empty. The clock on her bedside table reads 3:00am causing you to sigh. “Katie?” You call out hoping she maybe is close by but you get no response.
Another wave of pain washes over you causing you to whimper. That’s when you feel the gush of liquid between your legs. You quickly throw the sheets off your body revealing in the moonlight that your water has broken. You reach for your phone and quickly call Kate but she doesn’t pick up. You curse under your breath trying to call her a few more times each time failing to get a hold of your girlfriend.
You grip the sheets with your free hand from the pain as the pain gets slightly closer together. So this time you call the other person you trust the most, your best friend. The phone rings a few times. “Hello.” A groggy voice comes through the phone. “Wands.” You can’t help how your words come out as a whimper. “Y/n/n, what’s wrong?” You can hear shuffling as Wanda sounds much more awake than she did a moment ago. “M-My water broke. K-Kate isn’t here a-and I-I-I can’t get a hold of her.” You stutter through your words gritting through the pain.
Wanda shuffles around more, putting some clothes on. “I’ll be right there sweetheart.” She hangs up the phone. Not even a minute later she is coming into your room and is quickly by your side. “Let’s get you down to the med bay.” She helps you to your feet. She helps keep you steady as you make your way out of your room.
Natasha stood in the hall rubbing the sleep from her eyes. “What’s going on?” She looks between the two of you. “Y/n’s water broke and Kate isn’t anywhere to be found. I’m sorry I didn’t say anything detka I just needed to get to Y/n.” Nat shakes her head. “Don’t apologize, get Y/n/n to the med bay.” She motions for you two to continue on as you grip onto Wanda. “Natty, can you please find where Kate is?” You ask as Wanda leads you down the hall. Of course sweetheart.” Nat turns quickly and makes her way down the hall looking for an explanation on why Kate isn’t here especially when you were so close to going into labor.
Wanda leads you into the med bay where doctors are already leading you into a room and getting you as comfortable as they can. You look at Wanda with a few tears in your eyes. “I want Katie.” You whimper. The look in your eyes breaks Wanda’s heart. “I know sweetie. Natty is looking for her. She will find her and bring her here.” She tries to reassure you.
Your contractions are getting closer together. The nurses put you into a hospital gown and get you into a bed. The doctor comes in with a wide smile. “Let's see how far you are along.” Your dad had hired an OBGYN for the compound after finding out that you are pregnant in preparation for his grandbaby. “Hi Dr. Robbins.” She gives you a warm smile as she puts on her gloves. “Are you ready to have your little boy?” She sits down on a rolly stool and positions herself between your already spread legs.
You shake your head as your thoughts go to Kate. Where is she? Is she okay? Did she decide that she doesn’t want to do this anymore? All you want is for her to be by your side while going through this. More tears fill your eyes. The more your mind wanders and your fear builds. You can’t do this without her.
“Looks like you're ready to push.” You hadn’t even realized that Dr. Robbins had checked you out until her words broke you out of your thoughts. “No.” You whine. “I-I can’t.” You shake your head vigorously, tears starting to stream down your face. “Y/n/n.” You turn to look at Wanda who has a reassuring smile on her face. “You can do this.” She takes your hand in hers and squeezes it lightly. “N-No I can’t.” You shake your head more. Panic takes over as you cry. “I can’t do it.”
“Y/n I need you to push for me.” Your head snaps to Dr. Robbins before you shake your head more. “I can’t do this.” The room is all trying to encourage you. “Yes you can sweetheart. You are so strong.” Wanda kisses the top of your head. “I-I-I need Kate. S-She needs to be here.” You start to panic more. Sweat now dripping from your forehead that Wanda tries her best to wipe off.
Wanda’s heart breaks more for you. If she wasn’t so concerned for you she would be more pissed at Kate right now but you need her more right now. So she pushes her anger down in order to be there for you. Right now you are more vulnerable than you have ever been with Wanda and she just wants to help.
“I’m here with you. I’m not going anywhere.” Wanda tries to reason with you in order to get you to push. She knows that the longer you try to hold it in, the more dangerous it becomes for you and your son. “I-” Your cut off as Nat bursts through the door. Without your knowledge Wanda had mentally communicated with Nat trying to get her to hurry up on finding out where Kate is. Nat has a tablet in her hand. “Kate was sent on an emergency mission. She is on her way back now.” Nat turns the tablet showing you the screen.
Kate’s face lights up the screen. You can see that she has some scratches on her face. “You-You’re hurt.” You mummer. Kate gives you a reassuring smile. “I’m ok baby. I’m sorry I’m not there, I didn't have a choice.” Kate wasn’t supposed to be sent on any more missions since you were so close to your due date so who made her go. You don’t have time to think about it as you grunt in pain.
“Y/n you really need to push.” Dr. Robbins tries again, her voice filled with worry. “You can do it baby.” Kate tells you as Nat continues to hold the table close to the bed. “I-I can’t. I need you.” You look at the screen with her face displayed right there. “I’m here baby.” You shake your head. “You’re not here Katie.” She gives you a sad smile. “I may not be there physically but I’m going to be right here. You have Wanda and Nat to help you. We are all here for you baby. I love you so much and you are so strong. Please push for me baby.” You look down before nodding lightly. “That’s my girl. You can do this.” You let out a shaky breath. “Okay.”
“Alright Y/n you ready.” Dr. Robbins asks. You give her a nod. “Let’s meet your son. Come on Y/n push.” You follow her instructions and start to push. All the women around you encourage you as you continue to push. Grunting through the pain and grip Wanda’s hand tightly. This is one of the worst pains you have ever felt but you know it will be worth it when you get to meet your son.
With one final push the cries of your son could be heard through the room. You can hear a watery chuckle from the screen. Nat facing the tablet to let Kate see your son being born. She wishes more than anything that she could have been there in person but she is glad that she got to see it. The nurse takes him to clean him up as Dr. Robbins finishes with you.
“You did amazing, sweetheart.” Wanda kisses your forehead. You look up at her and she has the biggest smile on her face. “Thank you.” You mumble exhausted. “Why are you thanking me? You did all the work.” Her expression is soft and loving. “For your help. I don’t know what I would have done without you. Or you Natty.” You look at the other woman. They both just wave you off. You notice that Nat is holding the tablet anymore. Your brows furrow and eyes water a little. “Where did Kate go?” Nat doesn’t answer you but she has a smile on her face which confuses you more.
The door swings open. “I’m here.” Kate is out of breath as she comes through the door. Nat backs away, giving space for Kate to come to your side. Kate rushes over to you, taking your hand and leaning down to kiss you. “I’m so sorry I missed it.” She has tears in her eyes, leaning her forehead against yours. “You’re here now.”
A nurse comes towards you with a little blue bundle. Wanda gives her room as she gets closer. The nurse gently hands you the little bundle. “Meet your son.” Tears fill your eyes as you cradle him in your arms. You look at him trying to memorize every feature of his face. He looks so much like Kate and you couldn’t be happier.
You and Kate never told anyone the names you had picked out, wanting it to be a surprise. But as you look at him and remember what you have been through you know that you want to change something. You take a look up at Wanda before you look at Kate. She had been watching you. Your eyes meet hers and you can see them shining with more tears. She nods her head lightly with a smile. You didn’t need to say anything for her to know exactly what you wanted to do. Your gaze returns to your son with a smile.
“Meet Theo Pietro Bishop.” You look back up to see Nat has joined Wanda. Wanda is wearing a shocked expression, tears slowly filling her eyes. “You’ve helped so much Wanda I wanted to do something for you. I couldn’t think of any better way to show you how much you mean to me.” You're both crying now. Wanda shakes her head. “You didn’t-” You cut her off. “I want to Wands.” You let out a watery chuckle. “We would want nothing more.” Kate adds.
Kate’s arm wraps around you and you lean into her side. Both of your gazes back on your little bundle of joy. More than happy to start this new chapter of your life. To have an amazing girlfriend. Two women who will be fantastic Aunts to your little boy. And a whole village behind you with the Avengers. Life couldn’t be more perfect than it is right now.

THE SUN AND THE MOON
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kate Bishop x Demigod!Reader
Summary: Kate makes a visit in your universe after weeks of not seeing eachother.
Word count: 2.5K
Pure fluff. Kate is such a dog mum. This is taking the sapphic long distance experience on a whole other level. Reader is a daughter of Apollo.
a/n: there might be a prequel of this on the workings. It's still an abstract idea but I already got something laid out.
————————————————————————
"Okay, I'll come and pick you up tomorrow morning at 10:00. And if I find you two doing cheeky stuff again you can say bye-bye to your personal multiversal taxi." America warned Kate as she was opening a portal right on the fire escape outside your bedroom window.
"Just to clarify, we were just making out." Kate points out. "We were half naked but only making out." She adds mumbling to herself. She took a step forward, finding herself in your universe. "Whatever. You own me so many pizza balls for this." America grumbles before closing the portal.
You were sitting at your desk, music was blasting through your headphones as you were finishing up an assignment on your computer.
Kate opened your window and jumped inside your room. She smiled as she saw you concentrated on your work. Her backpack slips out of her shoulder, hitting the hardwood floor. She sneaks behind you and takes your headphones off.
"Whatcha listening to?" She whispers in your ear. You jump on your seat and turn around.
"Oh my god!" You whisper shouted. "Kate? What are you doing here?" You stood up from your chair, a smile plastering on your shocked face. You weren't supposed to see her until next week, so this was certainly a very nice surprise.
"Hi, baby. 'Was just popping by. Wanted to see what my beautiful girl was up to." She shrugged as her hands found your waist, immediately connecting your lips in a sweet kiss. When you draw back you notice she has cuts and bruises all over her face and probably on her body too since her suit was all ripped and a bit bloody. You tilt your head. "Did you come here because you wanted to see me or because you want me to be your personal nurse again?"
"Both?" She raised her eyebrows and made her famous puppy eyes at you. You shake your head and chuckle. "Take off your suit." You step back, crossing your arms under your chest. "Eager, are we?" She teases as she peels off her archery suit, throwing it on the floor. Now she's left with a black tank top that accentuates her muscular form and some boxers that had purple hearts on them. Of course she was wearing something like that.
You roll your eyes. "Just stay still." Your hand reaches her jaw, where a fresh and deep cut was glaring at you.
You took a deep breath: a golden aura began to shine around your body. Kate felt your warmth streaming from your fingers to her jaw. In a matter of seconds the cut disappeared. "Who did you fight this time?" Your hand moved to her forehead. "Just some thugs that were trying to steal some kind of dangerous substance. It was a pretty cool fight, actually. I knocked out three guys with only one shot." She says proudly. You smile at her being all cocky of her actions. "That's amazing, love."
As your hands were moving all around her body, healing her from every single bruise and cut, she rambled on and on about her mission. You had to force her to stay still because she was moving around trying to demonstrate how she back flipped and knocked a guy out kicking him in the nuts with her left foot.
Once her skin was smooth again you removed your hands and returned to a normal non glowing human. "Thank you, princess." She smiled at you and gave you a quick peck on the lips. "You knows you're always so hot when you do that. Literally and figuratively."
You chuckled and sat down on the bed, reaching for a bottle of soda on your bedside table and drinking it to get your full strength back.
Kate crawled on the bed, laying on top of you. Her arms cradled around your hips and her chin rested on your midriff as she gazed up at you with her dazzling angel eyes.
"I missed you." She whispers and leans her head forward. She starts to leave a trail of butterfly kisses from your collarbone to your lips. You can't help but giggle at that sweet action.
"I missed you too, Katie." Now her face is right above yours. Your hands find the small of her back and caress her there, your touch is as soft as a feather while you draw heart shaped figures on her bare skin.
"Lucky misses you too." You could feel one of her calloused hands sliding up your back and reaching your neck. "He's always so excited whenever I say your name." She then lets go of you, and goes to retrieve her phone that was in her backpack. "I've got a few videos of that, actually." She crawled back next to you, opened her gallery and pressed play on a video of Lucky being all happy and stomping around as his tail was wagging like an helicopter. You chuckle at the adorable sight.
For the next few minutes Kate proceeds to show you every single video of Lucky she had. (even the ones that you had seen a million times already) "Wait! I almost forgot." She reached in her backpack, taking out a small folder. She opened it and inside there were dozens of pictures of her, Lucky, and a couple with her team too. "I printed some more pictures for you." You melted. Kate knew you couldn't have a phone (being a demigod was really shitty sometimes.), and every time she made sure to print a lot of pictures (and yes, some of them were spicy too). You, in the other hand, were more prone to writing. So while you had an album full of pictures, she had a folder with all your letters and poems.
You couldn't help but to lean forward and kiss her on the lips. "Thank you." You looked at the pictures for a few moments and then looked up. "I got something for you too." You stretched your arm to open the drawer of the bedside table and took a small notebook, handing it to her. "It's a small scrapbook I've been making for the past couple of weeks." There's all kinds of things: poems, flowers, pictures and small things that remind you of her.
The corners of Kate's mouth reached her ears. "You're amazing, princess." She took the scrap book in her hand, starting to open it and flip through the pages. You stopped her. "Nah uh." You put your hand over hers, shutting the scrapbook closed. "That's for later. When you're back home."
Kate rolls her eyes. "Fine." She carefully puts the scrapbook in her backpack. She crawls back to you, fully laying on you and burying her face in your neck. She starts giving you little kisses on the same spot. "Come with me." She says in between kisses. "Come back to my universe."
"Katie, you know I can't." You sigh. Being long distance was certainly not easy. Especially if you both live in different universes, and don't have any type of communication besides iris messages, that you discovered can work between universes, but those can last just for a couple of minutes. (One time you left the "call" go on for the whole night. You had to toss 15 drachmas to pay for it. The inflation has reached the mythical world too apparently.)
"Please." Her soft voice was humming against your skin. You wanted to. You wanted to be with her, be close to her, falling asleep in eachothers arms and waking up to Lucky jumping on the bed and licking your faces. But you had your family to take care of. You were the oldest of the family. Your mum worked all day long, leaving you to take care of your two little siblings. And also you had college. You had missed the whole first semester due to the whole "disappearing into another universe thing" and now you had to catch up.
"I promise that I will, just not now. I have so much going on right now. I can't just disappear again after being away for months." You made her look at you, cupping her cheeks. "You promise?"
"I promise." You whisper, a small smile tugging on your lips.
She leans in and kisses you. She wants time to stop. Tomorrow morning she'll have to go back and it's going to be another couple of weeks until she can see you again. So she doesn't dare to pull away from you. She wants to be in your arms forever.
Soon her tongue slides in your mouth, sinking into you. But it's not enough. Touching you isn't enough. Her hands move up and down your sides, squeezing your waist over your sweater. Or better, her sweater that you stole the last time you went to visit her. Her fingers graze your stomach and slides her cold hands under the soft fabric. Your skin perks up, a shiver running down your spine to Kate's electric and intoxicating touch.
"Katie..." You whisper when her lips detach for a millisecond. She just hums against your mouth, her hands sliding upwards. She knows you're not wearing a bra underneath.
"Darling..." You say again a bit louder but she continues. And right when her fingertips are about to reach your breasts, you stop her. She leans back from your face, her hands don't move, they're warm, now having stolen the heat of your body. She's looking at you with her mouth agape, she's slightly panting, her pupils are blown out and tendrils tickling your now rosy cheeks. "We can't do that right now."
She furrows her eyebrows and she's about to ask why when someone knocks on your bedroom door. "Y/N?" It's your mum. You totally forgot that on Sundays she only works in the morning. Shit. She tries to open the door. This is the only time you thank the gods for having a crappy and old apartment. The handle of the door is almost broken, so it's pretty hard to open it unless you know the right mechanism to not tear the knob out.
"Quick. Hide somewhere!" You tell Kate as she panics and jumps out of the bed. She looks around and then she hears a click. The handle slightly turns and the door opens. Kate crouches down and slides under your bed right before your mum walks in your room.
You quickly put all the pictures that were next to you on the bed under your pillow and smile innocently. "Hey, mum. What's up?"
"I've made tea, do you want some?" She asks.
"Uhm- no. Thank you. I'm fine." You fold your arms under your chest.
"Are you sure? You've been in here for the whole day. You need to take some breaks from those books." She points at your messy desk.
"Yeah, I know. I'm taking one right now. You know, laying in bed and- looking at the ceiling." Kate has to hold in a laugh for your lame response. "It's very relaxing. You should try it."
"Alright." She says reluctantly. She takes a step back when she notices Kate's backpack on the floor next to your bed. Fortunately her suit was on the other side so she couldn't see it. "What's that?" She points at the black backpack.
"Oh. That's uhm- Will's. He left it here yesterday." You lie. But it was pretty effective because Will actually came to visit you the previous day. He would never own a backpack like that but your mum buys the lie and nods. "Hm. Okay. Well, if you need anything I'll be in the living room. Your siblings want to see Cars again." She states and closes the door behind her.
"Okay. Cool, thanks. Have fun!" You hold your breath until you can't hear her footsteps anymore and pat the side of the bed. "Coast is clear." Kate rolls out from under the bed and lays on your bedroom floor, a smirk on her face. You sit criss cross on the edge of the bed and look down at her. "What?"
"You're right. It is relaxing watching at that nice and smooth ceiling." She mocks.
"Shut up." You dangle down one foot and lightly kick her on her hip. She fakes a hurt face and pouts. She stands up and now she's the one looking down at you. "So, I gather you haven't told her yet?" You shake your head. You did want to tell your mum about Kate. But you know she would freak out. She's... very protective, to say the least. The first time you heard of camp half-blood or the term 'demigod' was when you were 15. You didn't even suspect anything since monsters wouldn't attack as you weren't as powerful as some other demigods. So she took that as an opportunity to keep you safe next to her. But the time comes for everyone and one day, after a big fight with her, you sneaked out, walking all the way to camp. And it wasn't a nice little promenade at all with monsters attacking you left and right every single step.
You only reconciled after the whole thing about your dad getting transformed into a teenage boy. Now you were on pretty good terms again, but her protectiveness hasn't ceased that much.
"I want to. I really do but... She'll definitely ban me from going to see you." You look down. "If she even finds out that in those months I've been in another universe and not at camp she'll probably get into a coma." You scoffed.
"Yeah, but you're an adult now. You are way capable to make your own decisions." Kate sat down next to you and wrapped an arm around your shoulder.
"I know. But the past months we became so close, more close than we've ever been and I don't want to ruin that again." Your eyes are fixed on your lap. You stop the urge to take your fingers to your mouth and bite your nails. Kate sees you getting anxious and she places her hand that wasn't around you over your hands. She speaks with a calm and smooth voice. "Hey, get those bad thoughts out of your head. In the first place, you didn't ruin anything. And secondly, I'm okay with you taking your time. I won't push you to do anything you don't want to." She kisses your temple and then presses your forehead against it.
You lean into her touch and exhale deeply. Then you turn your head, your eyes fix on her collarbone, the sun necklace you gave her is shining on her toned skin. You had a matching one, but with a little moon charm instead of the sun ("That way, it's like we will never be apart." Kate said when she gave it to you.). Then your gaze travels along Kate's features until you meet two oceans rumbling in front of you. "I really love you."
She smiles. "I love you too, baby." She pauses and her sweet smile turns into a cheeky grin. "So no head?"
You chuckle and shake your head. "Can't risk having my whole family hearing your pretty sounds." You peck her nose, making her scrunch it in an absolutely adorable way. "Those are only for me I'm afraid. I can propose some cuddling with a little make out session if you'd like." You suggest.
"Okay. That's fair." She nods in agreement. "Let's get started then, we have so little time and I have to tell you so many things." She climbs on top of you and gently pushes you down the bed. You giggle and your lips press together.
You stayed up all night. Talking about random stuff, taking breaks to make out, and chat again trying to maintain your voices and giggles as quiet as possible.
And it's in these moments where you understand that whatever happens, you won't ever let go of eachother. Because despite the distance you need eachother. The sun and the moon will always need eachother.

Giggles and Kate's hilarious jokes echoed in the room, and also some kisses here and there. Your girlfriend´s hair was tied in her typical ponytail, that you love so much, her front strands perfectly shaping her face. You lay gently on top of her, your bodies fit perfectly together like two pieces of a puzzle and your fingers are exploring Kate's upper body and also her so surreal beautiful face. Her ocean blue eyes locking with yours. Every evening has been like this since you've lived together and it is every time the best part of the whole day. The atmosphere was calm, you could feel peace and the love between Kate and you. Both of you taking the time to realise how lucky the two of you are, being in such a delightful and pleasant relationship.
When Kate discovered you staring at her kissable lips, she began to smirk, and her hands, which were resting comfortably on your back, moved to your hair and pulled your head a little closer to her. So close that you could feel her breath on your lips. As your lips finally collapsed together, you could feel her heartbeat, it had sped up a bit, which made you giggle into the soft kiss. She slowly moved away and broke the kiss. "Why are you laughing?" She whispered with a confused gaze on her face, that kind of made her even look more cute, according to your taste. "Do I make you nervous my love?" You asked with a bright smile on your face, which got even brighter, when you saw the blush creeping up Kate´s cheeks. As she realised that you noticed the pink color, she hid her face into your pillow and started smiling broadly.
-"I guess that´s a yes then."
"Shut uuuup."
The moment you started chuckling, you felt warm hands wandering under your hoodie that started tickling you before you knew it. You burst out laughing and your body collapsed on top of Kate´s. You placed your head into your girlfriend´s shoulder and continued laughing until your shirt lifted up a bit. However, Kate didn't notice this and turned the both of you, so that you were now lying on the bed and she was on top of you. You had your eyes closed, so you didn't notice Kate admiring your abs. Her curious hands pulling your hoodie even further up until it was over your head and finally on the floor.
Your eyes were still closed, you relaxed every muscle in your body and just focused on the kisses that your Kate was placing now on your neck. You could feel her breath against your skin, which was calming you even more. The moment you finally opened your eyes, you placed your right hand on Kate's neck and moved her face back towards yours. You looked at every detail of Katie's face until she interrupted you with again her lips on yours.
It was a long kiss, so long that you had enough time to play with the end of Kate's shirt. You were about to pull the fabric over her head until Kate suddenly took your hand in hers and pulled it away from her body. You stopped kissing her and looked intensely at her face, but you didn´t see any signs in her features.
"What´s wrong, Katie?"
She avoided your gaze and mumbled a small "nothing".
Clearly not believing her, you furrowed your eyebrows and put your finger under her chin, so she has to look at you.
"Talk to me."
You put your hand back on Kate's neck and played with her baby hair as you waited for her to answer, she gently placed her head on your chest and started talking.
"I´m sorry my love, I just-, I just don´t want you to see my scars."
In that moment you couldn´t hold back your smile and softly turned yourself around, so Kate is one more time beneath you. Gently you started kissing every part of her face.
"But I want to see your scars."
Your hands wandered once again under Katie´s shirt and you began to pull it up, though you looked into Kate´s eyes as if to ask her, if it´s okay. She understood your silent question and nodded. A moment later her shirt gave your hoodie company on the ground. You started to kiss each collarbone, where you already could feel the first scar beneath your lips.
"Where did you get this scar from?" You asked while continue kissing your girlfriend´s body.
"A guy cut me with his knife."
"Interesting, and this one?"
"Okay, could you stop asking questions?"
You chuckled at Kate´s behavior and felt how lost her hands were in your hair, leaving it a complete mess as you were still kissing every part of her upper body.
"No, but seriously, where did you get this from?"
"I burned myself while cooking your favorite dish."
You burst out laughing, which made Kate giggle too.
After you both calmed down a little, you continued kissing her, you now kissed her palms and each delicate finger that were lost in your hair just seconds ago. You found her stomach and kissed it from each scar to the next. You loved Katie´s scars, they were unique and every single one of them has their own story, if it´s a hilarious or a fascinating one, you thought they looked pretty, especially when they´re from your loving girlfriend and you could kiss them, or even admire them.
Your hands met Kate´s waist and the final piece of clothing on her figure. You began to pull it off and the pile of clothes on the floor got bigger. She let out a sigh of pleasure as your lips returned to her soft skin, her noises being music to your ears. She kept her hands buried in your hair and you began to touch places no one ever touched her before.
When you stopped your movements, Kate held her hands on your back and pulled you into her body as much as she could, but you both still didn´t feel close enough.
You collapsed again on top of the person who stole your heart and placed your head on her chest, so you could hear her heartbeat. Her hands were gently scratching your back and you could again feel the peace in the atmosphere. There is nothing you love more than this girl, especially when she has scars all over her body.
"You know that scar on your thigh? It kinda looks like a flower."

Post Hawkeye (Deaf Female Reader X Kate Bishop)
Summary: Your cute new friend Kate learns ASL for you.
Word Count: 4.4K
Content None I think... just cuteness.
Tumblr media
Two weeks ago, Kate Bishop saw you across the library.
She had just finished classes and was rushing to pick up a book she needed for an essay she HAD NOT started when she saw you.
She hadn't seen you around before, and Kate was instantly mesmerized by how your cute face scrunched as you kept your head low to read. Kate couldn't take her eyes away, and she got to see your smile when you enjoyed a particular moment of your book.
Kate loved seeing your smile and how your eyes lit up.
Kate looked at her phone and truly needed to find the book and leave now or never. But on that day, Kate Bishop was feeling bold. Blame on the need for a certain thrill since Clint took her off Hawkeye duties to focus on school, but Kate started walking towards you.
You, however, never saw or heard her coming. Not when she tripped over her own feet. And not even when she stumbled sitting down next to you.
You had no idea Kate Bishop existed.
Maybe you would have if you had your aids in, but they made you feel embarrassed and inadequate, something you've struggled with for years. Something a certain someone would help you with in time. But, for now, you choose to go without them 99% of the time.
So when Kate started with a simple greeting, that turned into an overcomplicated rambling where she gave you numerous unwanted compliments.
You didn't hear it.
In fact, you didn't even look over to the now slummed-over pretty girl with the blue-grey eyes until she slammed her head on the table in defeat.
The vibrations of the repeated knock of the head against wood alerting you.
You put a bookmark in your book before closing it to look around, hoping maybe someone lost their friend because you had no idea why she was sitting at your table.
But at last, no one had lost the captain of the archery team. So you waited for her to look up, hoping to get an answer, and when she did, you're lucky your mouth didn't drop open.
She was gorgeous. Stunning actually. You had no idea why she was sitting here, but now you didn't want her to leave. You were about to lift your hand when you saw her eyes open in shock before her pink lips started speaking a hundred miles per minute.
Too fast for you to keep up.
You tried to get her to stop, but before you knew it, the last thing you saw was her black ponytail bouncing away.
You didn't know what to make of the last two minutes, but there wasn't much you could do. So, with a frown and shrug of the shoulder, you returned to your book. Wishing you got a chance to say anything.
Exiting the library, Kate Bishop was red in the face. You had just sat there ignoring her as she tripped over all of her words and called you beautiful and babe within two sentences. She didn't know what was wrong with her. She wanted to stab herself with an arrow. Badly!
Kate shook her head because that wasn't even the worst part.
The worst part was when you finally looked at her. You acknowledged her. Kate was already embarrassed enough. So she apologized and claimed that she would never bother you again.
But yet here she was two weeks later. Spotting you from across the library just like before.
"Go!" Kate felt a nudge on her arm from her friend Laura Kinney—a fast friend of Kate after transferring from Canada a year prior.
Kate looked back at her friend. "Stop that! I'm not going." Laura rolled eyes. "You talked about this one chick not stop-"
"No! I talked about how I embarrassed myself once! You're the one who keeps bringing it up!"
Laura shook her head and nudged her friend again. "Go! She's cute, and if you don't go, I will." Kate turned her head to her friend, surprised, but saw that maybe her friend wasn't kidding. "Ugh." Kate turned back to look at you. "Fine! Okay! I'll try again!"
"Good luck!" Laura called out, knowing Kate would need it. Kate sent a thumbs up and did her best to calm her nerves. "Just apologize and don't ramble," Kate whispered to herself as she reached your table.
However, before Kate could do anything, you closed your book and turned away from Kate to put it in your bag—the action meant nothing to you. But to Kate, it would appear you didn't want anything to do with her.
That thought was further cemented when you got up without looking at her and started walking away.
Without realizing it, Kate began to walk after you.
Her walk turned into a quick jog when her brain finally caught up to what was happening. She was right behind you when she said: "Excuse me! Hi!"
Yet you kept walking.
Okay, the library is busy, and maybe Kate could've spoken up a bit louder, so she tried again, HOPING that you weren't actively trying to get away from her.
"Hi! Sorry to bother you, but I..." She trailed off when you kept moving forward, keeping your head staring straight ahead at the library's exit doors. Kate was growing embarrassed and did the one thing she could think of.
She ran ahead and turned around, stopping you in your tracks.
"Hi!" Kate breathed out with a wave, coming face to face with you for the first time. You looked up from her lips, surprised at who was standing in front of you.
It was her!
Hi. You waved back with a questioning look to Kate's beautiful eyes before looking down to her lips—something Kate noticed.
"Sorry to bother you, but I don't know if you remember me but..." That was all you caught reading her lips before Kate started speaking quicker and quicker than you could process.
In your defense, even Clint Barton, an Avenger, said Kate had more speed talking than Captain America did running.
You held your hand up, shutting Kate up. She looked at you with curious eyes and waited to hear your voice, but instead, you started signing.
I do remember you.
Kate immediately felt embarrassed. She knew very little to almost nothing of what you were saying.
She promised Clint she would start learning when he began teaching, but for someone who helped save the world, he could still be stubborn. But now The Archer regretted not learning ASL.
Kate awkwardly smiled, making you smile back, in turn, causing Kate's face to flush red. You caught it. While looking at one another, you both thought the other person was beyond cute.
"I'm sorry," Kate spoke slower than she usually would. You tilted your head as she continued. "I don't know ASL."
You made a flat smile and nodded. Most people didn't. So it wasn't surprising that the first new cute girl to talk to you in some time didn't know it either. It just meant it would be harder to forget her when she inevitably didn't want to make the effort.
But you had never met Kate Bishop till before this moment. You didn't know that she was just as stubborn as her mentor but a thousand times more annoying when she needed to be. She wasn't going to give up.
She was going to learn for you.
She was going to speak to you.
Kate watched you nod and go to walk away, but she stepped in front of you again. "Wait!" She held her hands up and quickly pulled out her phone, handing it to you. You took it as it sat on the New Contact screen and looked up with furrowed brows. "Please?" Kate asked, making you nod and blush.
Kate watched your fingers fly over the keyboard before you handed it back. You watched Kate smile and try not to laugh at your contact name: Y/N 👂❌
You bite back your own laughter. Having been used to not everyone being comfortable with something you lost at a young age.
Kate looked up to see your smile and finally broke laughing. Her pearly whites were on display until she closed her mouth and started typing in her phone.
A few seconds later, yours buzzed in your pocket. Pulling it out, you looked up and smiled. The text read: "Hi Y/N. I'm Kate Bishop 🏹!" You nodded and made that her contact name.
"So Kate Bishop... what can I do you for?"
You typed and immediately regretted sending because you sounded like someone who was a boring attorney. But Kate found it kind of charming.
You looked down from her as the three dots popped up and down, but nothing happened. You looked back up at Kate, who was nervously biting her lip.
"You ok?" You typed to Kate, who stopped biting her lip, avoided your eye contact, and replied: "Yes. Sorry!" But Kate wanted to say more. She wanted to say: "I was going to ask for your number earlier, but we kinda blew through that quicker than I imagined. So now I don't know what to do?! Do I ask you out now? Is that allowed? Would you say yes?! You don't even know me!?"
But Kate didn't say that. Instead, she wrote: "I tried talking to you a couple of weeks ago because you seemed like a really cool person. Which you are! Ugh sorry. This is so embarrassing as I type this, but I wanted to know if you wanted to be friends? 😅"
Kate added the emoji, hoping to relieve any awkwardness. And it did. But Kate asking you to be friends wasn't where you thought this was going.
Truth be told, it wasn't.
But Katherine Elizabeth "Kate" Bishop wasn't going to ask you out over text. She was going to ask you face-to-face, and she didn't want you to read her lips to make it happen.
Yet you didn't know that. All you knew was that a cute, friendly girl was choosing to seek you out and wanted to get to know you. So you smiled and nodded to Kate, whose eyes lit up. "Great!" She audibly yelled, earning a fury of looks from people around.
But a smile from you.
"Sorry." You read Kates lips as she looked around at people shaking their heads and looking away.
Kate looked down at her buzzing phone to see a message from you. "Maybe we should leave the library. Are you busy rn?" Kate froze as she looked at the words on her screen. She was supposed to be courting you. Asking you out in time. Were you flirting? No. This is just what friends do. Hang out! The two of you were now friends! Right?
Kate's turmoil-struck brain could only process so much so fast before she decided to actually look at the time and realize, yes, she was supposed to be somewhere right now. Kate sent you a frown. "I actually should be on my way to archery practice."
That made a lightbulb go off above you. That's why she wanted her name like that in your phone. You thought Kate was being cute and was saying she was Cupid or was sent by Cupid or something. However, her being on the archery team made a lot more sense. You felt silly for thinking it was the former. But you pressed on.
"I have a free period right now. Can I come?"
Kate looked up from her phone and nodded with glee. "I'd love that!" Kate yelled once again, earning glares from everyone else in the room, but the two of you paid them no mind as Kate started leading the way.
On the walk, Kate and you enjoyed one another's company while also learning about the other one. It was new and slightly awkward but adorable to any outsider looking in. Like when you asked Kate if she took up archery because of the Hunger Games, she laughed and said no. She did it because she was saved by Hawkeye during the Battle of New York.
The very same battle you lost your hearing.
But Kate didn't know. She would in time.
Not right now.
The conversation about Hawkeye led to the two of you talking about your favorite Avengers. Kate's being obvious, and yours surprising her.
You said Natasha Romanoff—the Black Widow.
When asked why, you just sadly shrugged before replying through text: "The Avengers were all great. Most of them were role models. But none of them looked as good as she did in her uniform." You laughed to hide the tears in your eyes.
But Kate saw, leading you to type: "Plus, I bet she gave the best hugs." Kate smiled at that and could agree. Her and Wanda Maximoff probably gave the best hugs.
Where was Wanda, by the way??
Kate's phone buzzed, bringing her back. "Sorry... I could give actual reasons, but I don't want to cry right now." You smiled and swallowed the lump in your throat when Kate looked over at you.
Because Kate could relate, she had only gotten to hear Clint share less than a handful of stories about The Black Widow, and each time, they ended with the man in tears.
"I have a friend who's the same. It's okay." Kate sent back to you, making you feel better before you asked her if she had read Scott Lang's book, to which she said not yet.
Meanwhile, it was in your backpack.
Three weeks from now, she would borrow it and read the chapter dedicated to Natasha and cry.
As you and Kate walked up to the field holding practice, you had Kate lead you to a spot where you could safely watch from. Unbeknownst to you, the other girls around you were friends or girlfriends of the ladies on the team. So when people saw you walk up with THE Katherine Bishop, everyone started talking in hushed whispers.
But not that you knew.
However, you couldn't lie. Watching Kate's arms and fingers hold and mess around with something that's basically string and wood never looked so hot. On top of that, the shy, awkward, almost annoyingly cute girl you had become quick friends with didn't exist anymore. When the arrow flew from her fingers, she was confident, cocky, and dominant.
Also, she was easily the best of the team. Hot.
The warmth rising in you hit a tipping point when she pointed at you and then to the bullseye on the target before mouthing, "watch this." You expected Kate to turn and look to where she was shooting, but she didn't. She looked straight at you and let the arrow go. Your eyes went from Kate to the target.
Bullseye.
The girls around you erupted into a mixture of cheers, shock, and jealousy. They all turned to you, confusing you before you saw a couple of them smile and point back to Kate as if they were praising the two of you.
You're fairly certain you saw the word "girlfriend" being thrown around, but you just shook your head and waited for Kate to come to your rescue.
_
Over the next couple of months, as the season of spring was winding down to make way for the heat of summer, you and Kate had only grown closer. Your friendship had turned the two of you into being the best of friends.
Often being mistaken for girlfriends.
A mistake that always left you and Kate blushing but never saying how awful it would be if that was the case.
It was like there was a silent understanding. Kate knew what she was waiting for, and you were too nice and kind to even think about jeopardizing what you two had.
It was expected that if one of you was around, the other one had to be within ten feet. And this was true—most times. But there had been times in the past where if you woke up in the middle of the night after passing out while reading, you'd discover Kate gone. Her bag and clothes would still be there, but she was just gone. Well, herself and... her archery equipment.
That part confused you.
You wanted to bring it up to her. Because for one reason, whatever she was doing was making her exhausted. You could see it on her face better than anyone. She was tired mentally and physically. You didn't like seeing her like that.
The other reason is that it hurt you to see someone you cared about lying to you. You hated it and didn't want to hate the girl who started holding your hand on your walks across campus. The one who never missed a bullseye for you. The same girl who decided to read The Hunger Games instead of just watching the movies for you.
So when you couldn't bear yourself to bring it up to her, you decided to wait up and catch her.
Kate had no idea you had started to catch onto her. But it's not like Kate enjoyed sneaking around. Well, she did, but that was when she was chasing bad guys and doing some recon. But she hated it when it came to you. Sneaking around behind your back felt wrong, no matter the cause.
So, as Kate quietly picked up her bow and quiver, she looked over at your sleeping form and made a motion with her hands.
You didn't see it as you faked sleeping. But if you did, you would've understood why Kate was being sneaky.
Kate turned away from you and took a few steps towards her window. Kate opened it and reached back behind her when suddenly you flicked on the light in the bedroom of her dorm as she looked ready to jump out of her window. A labeled arrow prepared to fire.
Kate slowly lowered the bow and turned her head to you. You stood wearing her high school archery t-shirt and a pair of black shorts.
Kate couldn't help but smile. She loved seeing you in her clothes.
And you loved seeing her in yours, but right now, that was the last thing on your mind as Kate sheepishly said: "It's not what it looks like."
You threw your arms up at that and ran up to her, smacking your head as if to say, "what the hell are you doing?"
Kate sighed and knew that now was the time to say one thing or the other. Or maybe both?? Kate weighed her options before gently placing her bow on the bed you two had come to share. As friends of course.
You watched Kate let go of the bow before her hands found their way to yours. Taking them from your hips.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner." She started as you watched her pink lips speak. Tilting your head at the words she spilled before she softly let go of your hands to unzip her purple hoodie.
You gasped and covered your mouth when you saw what she was hiding. You looked from her guilty eyes back to her purple suit. Kate watched you step forward and raise a hand to her hip. The touch making her stomach flip while two of your fingers danced along the edge before gliding up the lining of the suit before they floated away.
Kate missing your contact already.
You couldn't believe what you were seeing. But yet, it made sense.
You'd been to enough practices to know the only match for Kate with a bow and arrow would be an Avenger. You looked to Kate's downward face and put your finger on the underside of her chin. Lifting it up. Her eyes meeting yours. You weren't mad. Well, you were, but if anything, now you were just shocked.
Are you Hawkeye? You signed without realizing it.
Yes. Kate signed ba— KATE SIGNED!
You took a step back in awe. Did that happen? You swallowed and stared at the girl, holding back a smile dressed in a purple superhero suit. Slowly, you raised your hands and, with a deep breath, signed: You can understand me?
Yes.Kate signed the exact same way as before, surprising you once again.
She was communicating with you in ASL. Your best friend- someone you cared for- No someone who you loved was signing!
Tears were threatening to spill as you ran into Kate and wrapped your arms around her. Your head burying its way into her neck. Kate wrapping her arms around you, holding you tight.
As Kate held you, she heard your sniffles and felt a few tears spill from your eyes. Kate bit her lip to keep her eyes from spilling.
It was then she decided she would keep the night of surprises going. So, after some time, she patted her hand against your back and removed her hold from you as you moved back to look at her. Your eyes were a little red, but Kate could see what was holding in them.
Kate smiled and started moving her hands. Since I met you, I've been learning ASL.
Your mouth dropped. With who? You could've asked me!?
You would've loved to teach Kate. But it had to be done this way.
Kate didn't answer you. Instead, she pulled out her phone and went to a secret photo album you had never seen before. Inside were pictures of her with Lucky, a family, some friends, and lastly... Clint Barton.
You looked up from the phone to Kate and back to the phone—Full-on, yanking it from her hands. You zoomed in on his face and then Kates before sliding through other pictures of the two of them together. A lot of them were unflattering pics of the grown man while Kate smiled brightly. But then there were some where Clint smiled and posed ridiculously for his mentee. You laughed and smiled at each one, including the ones of his family surrounding Kate.
You swiped once more, and a video automatically started to play. You felt the vibrations in your hand but couldn't make anything out. However, Kate knew exactly what was happening in the video.
It was Kate's first ASL lesson months prior. But that didn't start till ten minutes in. Instead, what was playing right now to the room was Kate in the video going on and on about this new friend of hers named Y/N. Kate mentions that you are the reason that she wants to learn sign language.
Slightly and purposely offending Clint.
"Okay, so let's say I manage to teach you, and you manage to learn, then what?"
Clint asks in the video.
"Then I ask her out."
Kate replies.
You looked up from the video to Kate. Asking why she is blushing, Kate takes a step closer to you and asks for her cell phone back. You place it in her hand. She hits the button on the side before putting it in her pocket.
I learned for you.
You watch Kate sign and mouth simultaneously, the feeling of wanting to cry from pure happiness returning. Why? You asked Kate as you smiled.
Kate lifts her hands and stops. She starts to sign but stops again.
The Archer breathes in and out.
Because ever since I met you, I've wanted to do one thing. Kate waits for you to nod back to her. I- Y/N... Y/N, do you want to go out?
She signs with a nervous smile.
Together? Sometime, like on a date. A real date! One where we dress up and go out on the town, not just eat junk in my-
You surprised Kate by jumping into her arms. Cutting off her ramblings in ASL. Kate barely had time to register to catch you before she felt just how soft your lips were.
Kate closed her eyes and melted into you. She marveled at the feeling of your smile as the kiss deepened. You pushed further into her and felt butterflies flutter inside of you at what you've wanted for so long.
Kate felt the same and would vow to always hold you closer than anyone ever could as she pulled you into her. Taking you all in.
Eventually, air had to return into your lungs.
You blushed harder when you and Kate separated. The heavy breathing between the two of you being the only noise in the room.
Yes, you signed when Kate placed you onto your feet. "You want to go out? With me?" Kate said, knowing you were watching her lips. But maybe she was wrong when she saw you shake your head no.
You moved back a bit as Kate kept her arms around your body.
I want to be your girlfriend.
Kate looked at you, making sure she saw that right. "Girlfriend?!" She asked with a glint of hope. You smiled and brought your lips to hers as you nodded before moving your hands down to hers. Taking them off your body and placing them in yours as you moved them.
You kissed Kate again as she traced her fingers over your left hand, discovering the pinky and index finger were raised. She moved from your index finger down to your extended thumb.
She pulled back and looked at your hand watching it move towards her.
Kate brought her hands up to your face and quickly kissed your lips before she moved onto your cheeks and nose, forcing a giggle out of you.
When she let go of your head, she looked into your eyes and said with an unmistakable smile: "I love you too. I love you so much!"
Kate wrapped you into her arms and held you close before she could feel you patting her back.
When she let go, you smiled and asked: So girlfriends?
Kate nodded.Girlfriends.
A million more questions ran through you as you stood in Kate's arms. But before you could stop yourself, you started with: Oh, and Kate... You laughed and signed to her before continuing. Since I'm dating Hawkeye, do I get a cool name?
Kate laughed back and raised an eyebrow. "Sure! What would you want to be called?"
You tucked your bottom lip into your mouth as you thought. An action making Kate pull your lip out of your mouth with her thumb before bringing it to her lips, almost frying your brain to the point that you nearly didn't say your answer. Bullseye.
"Why is that?"
You shrugged but hid behind an innocent smile. Your eyes briefly darting to Kate's closet before looking back to Kate.
Because I want to be the only thing you can stick your arrow in.

BRIGHTER THEN CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
SUMMARY — you’ve been with kate for years, but on your first christmas in your new apartment, she decides to make you hers forever
Tumblr media
The room smelt like pine and peppermint, you could thank the six foot tree in the corner, decorated with candy canes and assorted purple ornaments for that. As the morning sun bled into your quiet bedroom, painting the walls and everything else it touched golden, your heart fluttered in your belly at the simplicity of this moment you earned. After months of endless battles, there was finally peace to be enjoyed, and you would milk every second of it while it lasted.
Kate was flush against the bedsheets, satin pillow on the floor and heavy blankets tangled at her hips like she’d kicked them off in the middle of the night. She was always a quiet sleeper, but with her face pressed into the bed, soft snores escaped her parted lips. Her cheeks were flush, tinted pink, an accent to the all purple room she adored. Her deep brown hair that was almost the color of a raven sat twisted into a single braid in the middle of her head, frizzy at the roots as a result of restless rustling all night. Her plaid purple pajama top had ridden up in her sleep, exposing the softest parts of her hips and belly. You sat in the quiet for a while, admiring her even breaths and innocent face, wishing every morning could be this easy.
Just last week, you’d spent your nights alone while she fought alongside Clint somewhere in Brooklyn. When she did finally come home, she was sore and not nearly herself, not that you could blame her, but you were finally back in a routine, and your favorite holiday awaited you downstairs in full swing. If there was one thing Kate was known for within your small community of friends, it was her full-out commitment to decorating that could rival her high energy personality. Your bedroom was full of purple accents, from the blankets on the bed to the little trinkets she collects on the shelves, the apartment was a different theme in every room, not a single space left unfinished. You had assumed she’d go the generic Christmas route, not holding your expectations too high knowing how busy this time of year got for her, but you’d been severely wrong. So perfectly she found decor that matched every theme, and so proudly she’d put up a Christmas tree in every room that would surely have the place smelling like pine for months to come. It so perfectly fit who she was at her core, and the day it all came down would break your heart.
The ornaments on the tree reflected purple shadows against the wall, the candy canes were sweet and the pine was light, the sun warm against your skin that felt flush just watching her breathe. She looked so peaceful, you couldn’t even think about rousing her from that state, content with the silence around you and the heavy snow that fell outside of your window. It was a perfect snowglobe moment that you had waited days to have.
You lean back against the headboard, letting the cold flush wash over your warm body. Reaching a hand out tenderly, you caress the side of Kate’s face, pink cheeks warm to the touch but nothing out of the ordinary for her, always running hot when in the deepest depths of her slumber. You wondered what she dreamed about, but much to your dismay, she always woke without a single memory, only a smile on her cherry lips and wonder in her icy eyes. She wore your most favorite shade of blue so easily, everything about her was captivating, even in this moment. You didn’t mean to wake her, but the ticklish sensation that spread through her face was what brought her back down to earth, her eyes squinting before she stretched her entire body out like a clumsy puppy, smiling up at you with closed eyes.
“G’morning.” She rasped, snuggling deeper into the bedsheets, using her folded arms as a pillow once she realized that hers had fallen sometime during the night. You laughed quietly at her gravely morning voice and sleep slurred words, trailing your gentle fingers down the side of her neck and over her exposed shoulders. The tank top she slept in fit tightly to her muscular build, and you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t the hottest thing you’d seen in a while. She’d been frolicking around in your biggest sweater, hiding her perfect body from you, but it was all yours to oogle now, and you did so selfishly.
“Good Morning, baby.” Your hand slipped beneath her purple plaid tank top, nails scratching along her skin gently. She hummed in pleasure, wiggling closer to you until her head fell onto your soft thighs, her braided hair tickling the skin of your arm.
“Merry Christmas.” She smiled sleepily, finally peeling her blue eyes open to find yours in the sunlit room. You would never know how you got so lucky to have her, to call her yours and to spend every moment at her side knowing so many people wanted her for themselves, but you would thank your lucky stars until the end of time.
“Merry Christmas, Kates.” You chuckled lightly, letting your lips brush against the palm of her hand as it came up to rest on your cheek. “You slept well, if the pillow on the floor is any indication.” You giggled, belly jostling her head much to her displeasure. She grumbled mopily, digging her face further into your thighs like that was the answer to her problem.
“Always sleep well when you’re next to me.” She admitted in her delirium, unaware of how she melted your heart like a snowman in summer. Retracting her warm touch from your face in favor of rubbing out her tired eyes, she sat up straight once she felt the slightest bit of energy course through her body, finally starting to remember that today was the day she’d been counting down to since October. Her knees knocked yours, both sitting criss-crossed on the bed like kindergarten children, and with as much glee as you’d ever seen her wear, she reached for yours hands. “Merry Christmas!” She beamed brighter than a thousand ultra bright Christmas lights, perky and alert now as she really let this moment wash over her. It wasn’t the first Christmas you’d spent together as a couple, but it was the first year you’d woken up together tangled in bedsheets, in a place that you could call only your own. Clint’s little farmhouse had been home for a while, and while little kids made the holiday even sweeter, this was something new, something well deserved, and you were grateful for it everyday. Even if it lacked Lila jumping on your bed and Laura cooking waffles downstairs.
You giggled, leaning in close until your lips brushed together, fireworks exploding around the room when her lips reciprocated your movements. “Merry Christmas! Do you think Santa came?” You teased, cupping both of her cheeks in your hands and holding her close to your face, not ready to let her go just yet.
“I don't know. I think we have to check it out.” The presents had been slowly accumulating beneath the extravagant tree in the living room for weeks, both of you knew what awaited you once you descended down the stairs and made a sharp left, but that didn’t squander your joy as you raced out of bed and haphazardly shoved into each other just to say you got there first. Kate let you win, she always let you win, but it didn’t dampen your pride as you bounced around and kissed her face in a teasing celebration. “Santa came!”
“And his name is Katherine Bishop.” Your girlfriend jutted out her chest goofily, scratching at an imaginary white beard. You shook your head in fondness, taking a seat in front of the tree and the color coded presents beneath it. Ironically, both of you had chosen purple wrapping paper, though hers was a few shades darker and matched the pajamas she wore with its checkered print. You had gone a separate route then the traditional Christmas print, buying as many rolls of Hawkeye themed paper you could find once you realized it existed and sported a cartoon version of her face. Kate had laughed so loudly the first time she’d seen it, you’d do anything to hear that sound again, and you weren’t disappointed. When you handed her the first box, her face contorted with happiness, and contagious belly laughs escaped her.
You opened your presents at the same time, neither one of you having enough patience to sit around and watch the other. It didn’t take long for the living room to become a disaster of ribbons and crumpled paper, but that would be a cleanup project for later. Right now, you were just enjoying the small things.
“Last present!” Kate declared, reaching deep behind the tree and pulling out a small box you hadn’t noticed before. She had hidden it well, not that you would’ve gone around and snooped, but you could appreciate her commitment to surprises, even if she was horrible at them, always wanting to loop you in and dissect everything that had happened.
“Gimmie!” You reached for the little box, beaming from ear to ear when she placed it in your waiting hands and watched you intensely. You thought nothing of it, tearing into the paper like a madwoman. The velvet box you found beneath was no different then the boxes you’d acquired throughout your years together. Kate loved getting you nice things, and most often that was in the form of diamond bracelets or pearl necklaces. You appreciated them every time, but nothing had led you to believe that this box was different. When you flipped the lip, eager to see what awaited you, and whether it would be a gorgeous new charm for your collection or an elegant diamond bracelet, your mouth hung open in shock and tears breached your gentle eyes.
You never wanted an elaborate proposal. You had always told Kate that. You weren’t elaborate people, you didn’t need the big speech and the thousands of dollars spent on photographers and videographers to know that she meant it, but somehow this little moment was even more perfect than you could’ve anticipated. Looking up at her and away from the breathtaking engagement ring, you couldn’t help the single tear that fell down your face.
“Kate?” Your voice trembled, coming out a breathy whisper as you watched her watch you. Her eyes were the deepest shade of blue you had ever seen, a nervous grin on her face as she looked between you and the navy blue velvet box. “Are you-”
“Will you marry me?” She asked shyly, nothing but admiration in her icy eyes.
Not knowing what to say and not trusting your voice, you nodded through tears as you let her take the box and reach for your left hand. The ring fit like a glove, shimmering on your finger like that was exactly where it belonged. And it was. Blubbering like a fish out of water, you attacked the woman in a bone crushing hug, only pulling away to trap her lips in a deep kiss that couldn’t even begin to explain every emotion you were feeling.
“Merry Christmas, fiance.” She giggled against you, and you couldn’t help but laugh with her as you pulled your hand up to admire the diamonds.
“Merry Christmas, fiance.”

caught myself [K.Bishop]
Tumblr media
pairing: kate bishop x reader
summary: kate's competitiveness gets in the way of her seeing you for who you truly are.
warnings: technically none?; idiots in love; kate technically does knock R on their ass but no one gets hurt; yelena being an awful wingman; kate's sad puppy dog eyes; me feeling rusty af after writing so many serious essays
wordcount: 1.6k
a/n: me writing something else instead of focusing on the large pile of requests i still haven't gotten to? yeah, it's more likely than you think. i'll try to get into a somewhat normal posting schedule at some point if uni ever stops kicking my butt BUT FOR NOW, enjoy what was supposed to be a valentine's day special. also, don't worry, kissing in the crossfire part two WILL be happening!
* * * * * * *
You’re not sure what’s worse, being the newest member of the Young Avengers or being the member with the most obvious crush possible. It’s like the universe didn’t think you had enough difficulties getting used to life with your new team, it also thought you needed to juggle having the biggest crush on one of your teammates simultaneously.
Because fighting criminals daily isn’t hard enough, right?
You had tried your hardest to keep your massive crush on a certain purple-loving archer a secret but your plan had gone out the window the second Yelena figured out the hidden feelings behind your lingering stares. To say she didn’t understand your fascination with Kate Bishop would be an understatement but at least she tried to help…in her own, weirdly aggressive, way.
Her help mainly included making ridiculous comments at your expense. Comments that went completely over Kate’s head every single time and only led to awkward silences and unanswerable questions.
You thought the Russian was on her way to giving up and letting you handle your love life problems on your own but of course, when has Yelena given up an opportunity to embarrass someone she cares about?
It’s exactly Yelena’s love of embarrassing you that’s forced you into a situation you wouldn’t be able to get out of if you tried: sparring with the purple archer herself.
Training in the same room as Kate is already bad enough, especially considering her habit of wearing gray sweatpants and a tight purple cropped shirt, but having to spar with her? While she looks that good? And she has that stupid smirk on her face because she knows she’s going to win?
Nothing you could do could stop you from looking like a goddamn fool.
And that’s exactly what you look like right now.
It’s not bad enough that you can’t concentrate enough to anticipate her punches, you also don’t even know where to look because all of her is so damn attractive. It’s impressive and annoying all at the same time and it’s unfortunately taking up too much of your brain space right now.
You’re acutely aware of Yelena’s disapproving looks but you’re even more aware of the constant glares Kate throws in between rapid punches. Your brain may not be working well enough for you to spar correctly but if there’s one thing you can do, it’s dodge…which only infuriates the archer.
“Will you quit moving?” She huffs, only barely stopping her lips from forming a frustrated pout.
“What else am I supposed to do? Let you punch me?” You reply.
“That’d be a good start, yeah.”
“Ladies, quit chattering!”
You know Yelena is being annoying on purpose to get on your nerves but that doesn’t stop you from turning to glare at her. Your mouth barely begins to form around the complaints you want to hurl at her when Kate takes her opportunity.
It’s technically cheating, and it’s incredibly advantageous, but she’s not thinking about any of that. All she wants is to win and she doesn’t think twice. She swipes her leg under both of yours, catching you by surprise and instantly sending you crashing down onto the hard ground.
You don’t get a second to react before the back of your head makes contact with the floor. Large black spots fill your vision as Yelena starts throwing out curses at the startled archer. You barely make out the outline of Kate’s worried face before your eyes slip shut and darkness overcomes you.
You don’t know how much time goes by, or how many times Kate gets scolded in increasingly more aggressive Russian, all you know is that when you wake up…you’re not alone.
Your first instinct when your eyes open again is to sit up but a gentle hand pushes you back down before you get too far. “Don’t try to move, you’re gonna get a killer headache. Trust me.”
“Oh, I’m supposed to trust you after you knocked me on my ass?” You huff. It makes you sound more like a kid throwing a tantrum than an angry Avenger but you don’t really care.
“We were sparring, what else was I supposed to do?”
You don't notice the small grin that accompanies her recycled words, too upset and embarrassed about getting your ass handed to you by someone who's too lost in her own world to notice how much you like her.
“What else was I supposed to do?” You mock her. “Did you try not being a jerk?”
“That’s not fair. You’re the one who ignores me all the time but I’m the jerk here?”
Her words don’t catch you as off guard as the look on her face. You’re expecting to see flashes of the arrogant archer most of your teammates claim exists behind the usual warmth Kate so easily radiates. Instead of anger or arrogance, though, you come face to face with the most overdramatic pout you’ve ever seen.
And you suddenly understand why people say there’s a fine line between love and hate. Because it would be easy to think Kate Bishop is the most annoying person in the world if you didn’t also think she’s the most adorable person you’ve ever met…despite the constant ease with which she turns everything into an argument.
“What are you even talking about?”
“You don’t like me! And you don’t even try to hide it!”
All you can do is stare at her and wonder how the world’s greatest archer also happens to be the world’s most oblivious person. “You’re an idiot, Katherine.”
Her eyebrows crinkle in disgust but you’re pretty sure it has more to do with your use of her legal first name than the insult you push her way. “You sound like my mom.”
“You’re not helping your case.”
She opens her mouth to reply in an instant, a half-formed stupid sentence already forming on the tip of her tongue. You’re expecting yet another unnecessary argument to break out. Yet another reason for you to give up on all your attempts to build a bridge of thoughtful actions and sweet words that will lead you to who Kate truly is under the mask she so effortlessly wears around everyone else.
You’ve learned to expect anything from Kate Bishop. Especially the unexpected.
“I know. I’m sorry.” She adds the tiniest smile and most awkward shrug you’ve ever seen to her soft-spoken apology.
“What did you just say?” You ask, wondering if you hit your head hard enough to be imagining this whole interaction.
“You heard me,” she replies but her tone carries more traces of embarrassment than the cockiness you’re used to. “You’re right, I’m an idiot.”
You’re left dumbstruck, waiting for the other shoe to drop. There’s no way the archer can say those words without some sort of snarky comment coming after it. So you wait. Watching her with curious eyes that only fuel the nervousness bubbling underneath her carefree posture.
It’s strange to realize how little you genuinely know about her. Having a crush on her has ironically been the easiest part of everything. Sure, it’s awkward and annoying and ridiculous but believing you understand her is easier than accepting the fact that Kate’s never let you in.
So why would she start now?
“Are you going to say something?” The subtle crack in her voice reveals the truth she’s trying to hide behind her usual smirk.
There are so many things you want to say but you’re still a little lightheaded and the sudden change in her attitude toward you isn’t helping you keep yourself in check. “I like your smile.”
“Oh.”
You could easily dismiss her reaction as indifferent if it weren’t for the pink hue emerging across her cheeks. It’s subtle and warm and…real. Like her. And it suddenly dawns on you that you’ve never seen Kate Bishop flustered before.
Especially not from one of your compliments. It’s different…and you really like it.
“Can I ask you something, Kate?”
She looks away from you for a second, almost as if she’s scared of what you might say. Of the possibilities that lie in your unspoken feelings. “Sure, yeah, go ahead.”
Your mouth begins to form one of the many questions you’ve wanted to ask the archer since you met her but then her eyes find yours again and you get a glimpse into the fear-filled storm inside their depths.
It’s subtle but the armor made from cocky grins and imperfectly timed jokes begins to crack.
Which means there’s no way you’re going to spring such a loaded question on her just yet. As much as you’d love an answer to the one thing that’s been haunting you since you realized your true feelings for her, there’s no way you’d force her when it’s clear it’s been far too long since she’s let herself be vulnerable around someone.
So, you settle for the only thing you need right now: her.
“Can you stay with me?” You do your best to ignore the warmth that spreads along your face as the words slip out of your mouth. “Yelena doesn’t have the best bedside manner.”
A beat of silence goes by before her lips form a genuine smile. “Yeah, I can do that.”
Her eyes nervously flick around the room in search of somewhere to sit. You watch her for a few seconds before putting her out of her anxious misery.
“Kate…” You trail off, doing your best to hold in your laughter as you pat the empty space beside you. “You can sit here, I won’t bite.”
Your words are all it takes for her nervousness to turn back into her usual goofiness. “Really? That’s not what I’ve heard…”
“So you do talk shit about me!”

KATE BISHOP x READER
Maybe your heart isn’t made of plastic.
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/N always considered high school an hellhole where you need to fight everyday to survive, especially when Kate Bishop ruled over everything and everyone adored her. Everyone except her. She hated her. So she just tried to lay low and mind her own business, but when a new student arrive at their school, madness follows.
After a revenge plan, everything falling apart and just overall chaos, Y/N hooked up with none other than Kate Bishop. And it just kept happening. The two started hooking up wherever they had the chance and old feelings start to resurface. But would things work out or they would fall apart eventually?
[I got inspired after watching the new Mean Girls movie and after writing a too long oneshot about an original story with Kate, so I decided to create a book.]
-
A/N: HELLO PEOPLE! I know, I know! I just disappeared for months but it's been quite a challenge these months. But I'm here to make amends, starting with a new chapter! I soon will be posting on my Hailee imagine book too, so don't worry about me disappearing again.
How have you been? Tell me!
Enjoy ❤️
Sending you all so much love ❤️

Chapter 4
"Ugh, that bitch." Y/N grunted out as anger still boiled under her skin.
"Hey, Y/N/N, what’s wrong?" Bucky stopped Y/N in the hallway before lunch as she limped over her locker and stared at her in worry. After the P.E. hour, they all went to their separate ways to their classes, with the promise to meet back again before lunch. Y/N suffered from some back pain due to not being athletic enough and having her back sore from all the times Kate had her fun tackling her onto the ground, she had been limping around school for two hours as she plotted all the ways she could let the black haired girl pay for her bitchiness.
"Kate fucking Bishop, that’s what happened. That bitch tackled me on the ground the entire P.E. hour. And had her fun doing it." Y/N gritted through her clenched teeth as she left her physics class book in her locker and slammed it shut as rolled her eyes when Wanda snickered beside her, "stop laughing. You were lucky. She made you win."
"Hey loser, still angry you lost?" Kate in that moment walked beside her and smiled mischievously, making Y/N’s anger increase tenfold, but she just rolled her eyes at the black haired girl already walking away.
"Fuck you!" Y/N shouted after Kate and when she turned around to wink at her - it should not have made her core pulsate but she just ignored it - and flipped her off, making her snicker before turning around and turn on the left, leaving them in the hallway.
"True, but you’re just being overdramatic." Wanda giggled some more as she pushed on her shoulder and Y/N rolled her eyes good-naturedly. She knew the girl wasn’t disrespecting her by laughing, she made sure Y/N was okay as they made their way back to the locker room, she was just angry that Kate had her fun with her with lacrosse. "And she was just joking. You know that. She even helped you up once and she never did with the others."
Y/N rolled her eyes at Wanda’s statement and just pouted childishly, she just wanted to sulk around for a bit, okay? Kate deserved a lesson and she cursed under her breath when her traitorous mind made up all the ways she could ‘punish’ her during sex and for her horny self for getting turned on subsequently, "shall we go to lunch?"
-
"No Buck, I’m sure the answer to that is not ‘a fucking push’."
"Why not?" Bucky’s voice sounded through the speakers of Y/N’s laptop, his face on the screen clearly confused.
"Because we’re doing physics and you can’t explain a parabolic motion that way!" Y/N explained with a fond, exasperated tone and shook her head amusedly at her best friend, a small chuckle leaving her mouth. It was now half past 9 p.m. and the two best friends were now finishing studying, Wanda calling it a night an hour prior due to an important thing she needed to do, leaving them to deal with physics alone.
"All I’m saying that this stupid shit should not be-." Y/N tuned Bucky out as her phone chimed in with a new notification and looked down at it, her body temperature rising as she took in the words on her phone, anger already kicking in.
Heartless bitch: where are you?
Pyro-lez: not your fucking business.
Heartless bitch: can you fucking be serious for a moment? Jeez.
Pyro-lez: I’m studying with Bucky. Now shut the fuck up.
Heartless bitch: where?
Y/N plainly ignored Kate with a roll of her eyes and discarded her phone on the mattress as she refocused her attention on Bucky, "and that’s why we should learn how to style our hair perfectly instead."
Y/N’s anger dissipated in a second as she laughed heartily at her best friend for his nonsense and shook her head. Despite she missed everything he said, she knew he was just messing with her, "okay, professor. Before you start lecturing me on how I should upgrade my hairstyle, I’m calling this a night. See you tomorrow."
"You would have all the girls in school at your feet if you would let me style your hair. I will tell you more about it, tomorrow. Goodnight." Y/N chuckled at Bucky’s know-it-all tone and shook her head fondly, before ending the FaceTime call and closing her laptop lid. She grabbed all her books alongside her laptop and moved it all onto her desk, sighing out softly as she stretched her still aching back and yawned softly. Her phone chimed again and with a roll of her eyes she ignored it, knowing it will probably be Kate still annoying her, and went to her en-suite to get ready for bed. As she got out of the bathroom she tidied up the mess that was her desk with books, notebooks and pencils scattered all over it and sighed out contentedly when she was ready to slip in her bed and finally sleep her tiredness away. As she put the last pencil in her drawer under her desk, she heard a faint clicking sound in her room, but she was busy closing her drawer to dwell on it. If she paid attention to it she wouldn’t have jumped out of her skin when her window opened abruptly.
"What the-?!"
"Relax, it’s me!" Kate shouted as she climbed through the window, shielding her face when Y/N lifted a book up ready to throw it at her.
"Kate?! What the fuck are you doing here?!" Y/N whisper-yelled at the archer, placing her book back on the desk, as she casually closed the window and smoothed out her hoodie with their lacrosse team name on it, causing Y/N to look at her bewildered at her nonchalance. "Kate?!"
"Jeez, calm down. You were being an asshole and didn’t answer my texts, so I had to guess where you were." Kate shrugged and sauntered slowly towards the Y/E/C girl, still standing near her desk with a not so convinced look on her face.
"Do you actually know that when someone doesn’t answer your texts means they don’t want to talk to you?!" Y/N asked with a bitchy, matter-of-factly tone as she crossed her arms and arched a challenging eyebrow up at the black haired girl, but she seemed unfazed by her biting tone as she merely smirked on her way to her.
"No, you were just being an asshole." Kate repeated with a gloating tone and smiled haughtily at her.
"Look who’s talking." Y/N scoffed and rolled her eyes, opening her mouth to protest and tell Kate to get the fuck out of her room, but what actually came out was just a pitiful moan as Kate gripped her hips harshly and slammed her butt on her desk, effectively trapping her between the furniture and herself. "Let me go."
"No." Kate merely answered as she inched closer to Y/N, her arrogant smirk stretching even more over her lips.
"You are insuff-oh." Y/N’s words got abruptly stopped as Kate attacked her neck with open-mouthed kisses, her hands on her hips pushing her more onto her desk as her body flushed over hers teasingly. "Shit."
"I’ve been busy the whole day." Kate murmured on Y/N’s neck before biting on it harshly, causing a wail to leave Y/N’s lips as she bucked her hips up involuntarily. Kate licked the sting away immediately and moved up to Y/N’s jaw, nibbling on her skin there as she rubbed her hips over Y/N’s ones teasingly. As Y/N released another whimper and moved her lips on Y/N’s pulse point, her right hand left the Y/E/C girl’s hip and moved to her front, sneaking into her sweatpants and past her panties to feel an already great amount of wetness there. "Already so fucking wet for me."
"Oh- Kate- we can’t-."
"Why not?" Kate let out in an hum right onto Y/N’s pulse point, before biting on it teasingly, reveling in Y/N’s body trembling under her, her hips angrily seeking out more of her touch. Her fingers circled Y/N’s clit and rolled it in precise, firm motions, ripping a few more guttural moans from the girl above her and filling the archer with excitement, making her increase her tempo of her patterns.
"My- my parents are down stairs and-."
"We’ll be quiet. Well, for now you need to be quiet." Kate smirked mischievously at Y/N after pulling her face away from her neck and meeting her eyes, gulping when she found almost black Y/E/C staring back at her.
"The door-."
Kate rolled her eyes at Y/N’s yet another attempt to stop her, so she pointedly slipped a finger into Y/N’s core and Y/N’s words got replaced by a too loud moan, that Kate promptly muffled with her lips clashing over Y/N’s ones. Y/N fluttered her eyes closed and bucked her hips down Kate’s finger, silently asking for more but whimpered under her breath in frustration when Kate pulled her hand away from her pants instead and detached their lips from the intense kiss. "I’m gonna lock the door and we’ll be quiet. I’m wet too and I want to fuck you."
Y/N couldn’t find in her the words to counter the girl back some more and she merely nodded, watching silently as Kate moved off of her and sauntered towards her door, her eyes focusing on the swaying of her hips as they took in her phenomenal ass. "Wait-."
"Ugh, now what?!" Kate snapped before she could reach the handle and turned around towards Y/N with a withering glare, but Y/N just shook her head amused and flipped her off playfully.
"Calm your panties, I still want to fuck you so hard you will drop that cocky face." Y/N’s words seemed to affect Kate to the point she just put on a neutral face and closed her mouth, waiting diligently for Y/N to close the distance between them as she joined her to the door. "I’m gonna tell my parents I’m going to bed. Stay here and do not make a sound." Y/N gritted through her teeth at Kate, now standing impossibly close to her, so much so their noses brushed together and Kate just scoffed and rolled her eyes at her order, making Y/N’s anger boil over in an instant at her cockiness. She boldly gripped Kate’s ass and flushed their bodies together before slamming her mouth over Kate’s one hungrily, her tongue forcing its way in to lick it thoroughly for half a minute, before pulling away abruptly. Y/N smirked as Kate chased down her lips but Y/N moved away completely to walk out of the door. "I’ll be right back." As Y/N got downstairs, Kate took a moment to look around Y/N’s room, finding it just like she remembered it. It seemed not much changed since she last was there in 8th grade except for a few pictures of Y/N with Bucky and Wanda and posters of Y/N’s favorite movies. Kate didn’t have too much time to look around more because a minute or so later the door opened and Y/N reentered her room. "Here, now I can fuck you nicely."
Kate shivered at the low tone Y/N used after locking her bedroom door and bit on her bottom lip hard as Y/N approached her with a predatory look on her face, "if I remember correctly I was about to fuck you, so lay down and let me work my magic."
"I don’t take orders from you." Y/N scoffed and retorted with a bite tone before gasping when Kate grasped her ass harshly and flushed their bodies together once again, biting down on her bottom lip hard and pulling a low whine from the Y/E/C girl. Y/N slid her tongue past Kate’s lips and grasped her ass too, moaning at how firm it was and kissing her more deeply.
"You will if you want me to fuck you. And I know for a fact you want me to fuck you." Kate let out in labored breath as Y/N slipped her hands past her sweatpants and kneaded her ass without the garment in the way, moaning softly at how nice it felt as Y/N touched her.
"Oh is that so?"
Kate wanted to wipe Y/N’s gloating smirk off her face, so with a swift motion she sneaked her her hand between them and slipped it past Y/N’s sweatpants and panties like before and slid her fingers over Y/N’s drenched core, collecting her juices as she skidded over her slits, "yes. You are so fucking wet, shit." Kate moaned at how much aroused Y/N was for her and when the girl gripped her ass harder and moaned right onto her mouth, she quickly pulled her hand away and pushed Y/N backward until the back of her knees touched her mattress, "fuck." Kate groaned as she lifted Y/N’s hoodie up and got met with her naked torso, her eyes instinctively focusing on her erected nipples staring back at her. She devoured Y/N’s chest with her eyes, memorizing every patch of skin available, but got pulled quickly out of her daze when she felt two hands grip her wrists and guide them onto her desired destination, making the black haired girl lick her lips in anticipation.
"Wanna touch?" Y/N asked in a soft, enchanting tone and looked into Kate’s eyes almost innocently, batting her eyelashes at her.
"Fuck, yes!" Kate let out in one breath before whining when her hands got unexpectedly pulled away as Y/N smirked mischievously at her, causing the archer to look at her in anger.
"You need to be naked first." Kate wanted to really grunt out frustration and lash out at Y/N but everything got morphed into a moan when Y/N’s hand still grasping her left wrist pulled it back into her panties, making Kate cup her core once again, "or you won’t get to fuck me at all."
Kate groaned out at the words and unconsciously slipped the tip of her middle finger into Y/N’s core while clashing their lips together in an hungry kiss, swallowing a moan from Y/N when, with the great amount of wetness there, her finger slipped easily into Y/N, "so fucking wet."
"Oh Kate." Y/N murmured into the kiss and pushed her hips down onto Kate’s hand asking for more, already losing the determination to tease Kate, so Kate gripped her right buttcheek and added another finger, using her hand to help Y/N slid her hips down her fingers while sucking on her tongue eagerly, swallowing each sound came out from Y/N.
"On the bed. Now." Kate murmured and Y/N whined in agreement, letting another sound, this time of frustration, when Kate slipped her hand out of her core, only to shriek out in surprise when the black haired girl pushed her unceremoniously on the bed. Kate got distracted for just a moment as Y/N’s breasts bounced from the movement but was quick to pull herself out of her lustful haze to take Y/N’s pants and panties off of her in one motion and throw them on the floor.
"Ah-ah. I want you naked too." Y/N lifted her finger up and halted Kate before she could crawl over her and smirked seductively up at her, her heart roaring in her chest when the black haired girl for once didn’t protest at her demand as she quickly discarded her clothes. Y/N enjoyed the show Kate was unintentionally putting on for her and bit on her bottom lip to calm her horny self as her hoodie was the first to fall on the ground, revealing a purple sport bra and Kate’s delicious abs right on display. After throwing her hoodie on the ground Kate sent a quick look towards Y/N and found her eyes black with desire as they devoured her half naked body, so with an empowering thrill running down her spine she run her hand down her abs, watching delighted as Y/N’s eyes followed the movement, before letting it disappear under her sweatpants. Kate smirked at the small whimper coming from Y/N at her motions and boldly cupped her drenched core before sliding her fingers over her slits, exaggerating the movement just to create a bulge over her pants and drive Y/N even crazier. In her eagerness to tease Y/N some more, watching her almost drool at the show she was putting up just for her, she unintentionally brushed her palm on her aching clit and moaned softly at the yearned stimulation. What turned her on even more was Y/N’s hands gripping her sheets as she moaned softly under her breath too at her pleasuring herself in front of her, so she quickly repeated the gesture and purposefully arched her head back to let out a sinful moan of Y/N’s name to tease her some more.
"Oh- Y/N- ah!" Kate had her eyes closed as she touched herself in front of Y/N so she didn’t hear Y/N move from the bed and it caused her to squeal in shock as she felt an arm circle her waist, a hand pull her own out of her pants while a pair of hungry lips devoured her abs with harsh bites and open-mouthed kisses. "Oh."
"It’s my turn to have fun." And with that Y/N quickly yanked Kate’s pants and panties down her legs as her lips moved to her lower stomach, leaving a trail of saliva with her tongue right above Kate’s center. "Bra off." Y/N ordered as her hands went down Kate’s ass and squeezed it harshly, pushing Kate’s hips more towards Y/N’s mouth as she moved her tongue dangerously close to where Kate needed most. Y/N left a small hickey right above Kate’s slits as she felt her move to discard the last piece of clothing, so when she felt her still, she moved quickly backward and pulled on Kate’s ass to let her straddle her, her mouth moving from her abs up to her chest in mere seconds and devouring her amazing boobs, staring with her left one.
"Oh- Y/N, fuck!" Kate bucked her hips down when Y/N pulled a nipple in her mouth and suckled on it hungrily and gripped her scalp hard to push her more into her chest, "I’m so-."
"Fucking wet." Y/N finished for Kate as she swiftly moved one of her hands from Kate’s ass between her legs and teased her entrance as she collected her arousal, humming contentedly when Kate moaned onto her hair and pushed her hips down her fingers to silently ask for more.
"Inside. Now." Kate commanded and pushed her hips down in need again when Y/N didn’t budge, but Y/N just kept devouring her chest as she skidded her fingers between her slits teasingly, a ghost of a smile on her lips. "Y/N." Kate growled and pulled on Y/N’s hair to catch her attention and moving her away from her chest, ripping a small whine from her throat in the process. "Fuck me."
"With pleasure." Y/N smirked as their eyes met and in a quick, unexpected motion, switched their positions, laying Kate down on her back and moving between her legs, "buckle up for the best orgasm you’ve ever had."
Kate snorted at Y/N’s cocky statement, "I wouldn’t be so-FUck!" Kate had to slam her hand over her mouth when Y/N inadvertently pushed a finger in and started an already fast pace into her, her eyes closing shut as her body got wrecked with pure bliss.
"Shut up and let me fuck you." Y/N spatted angrily and pointed her words out by biting harshly on Kate’s left nipple, smiling when Kate wailed under her and bucked her hips up to ask for more. So Y/N added another finger into her and used her hips to help her movements, making them more precise and harsher as she pushed them deep into her.
"Oh fuck." Kate moved her hand off her face only when she was sure she could control the intensity of her moans, although it felt like a really difficult task since Y/N was doing amazing things to her, and moved it in Y/N’s hair to keep her in place as she paid attention to her neglected boob.
"So fucking hot." Y/N murmured with a nipple in her mouth before lapping up at it, matching her fingers’ tempo, and smiled as Kate thrashed her head around in ecstasy and moaned under her breath.
"Fuck Y/N! More!" Kate asked as she circled her legs around Y/N’s hips, her heels pushing on Y/N’s back every time Y/N slid her fingers back into her harder, "oh."
"Try to lower your voice. As much as I love how loud you can be-." Y/N trailed off to grunt out in fatigue as she increased her tempo, feeling Kate’s walls clench down her fingers and swallowing them even deeper, "I don’t want to get caught and stop this." Y/N bit particularly hard on the underside of Kate’s left boob and smiled as Kate arched her chest more into her mouth, while a softer moan left her lips, "good girl."
"Fuck." Kate moaned at the words and bucked her hips up needily, feeling her orgasm ready to wash over her as her body trembled in anticipation, "more Y/N. I’m close." And Y/N, with the primal need to feel Kate come undone under her, slammed her fingers back in while laying her palm on Kate’s clit, feeling Kate’s body twitch at the new stimulation. After a particular hard thrust and her palm hitting Kate’s clit just right, another loud moan left Kate’s lips, so Y/N understood Kate was becoming incapable of controlling herself as she approached her peak, so she quickly moved her lips off her chest and clashed their mouths together in a languid, full of tongue kiss, gulping down every sound Kate emitted as she neared her climax. Y/N doubled her efforts and moved her fingers faster and harder into Kate, her wall clenching impossibly hard around her hand and after a few more hard thrusts and precise hits on her clit, Kate came undone with a loud moan of her name right into her mouth, something that made Y/N’s mind spin out of control. "Y/N!"
"Fuck, you look even hotter right now." Y/N murmured on Kate’s lips as she slowed her fingers into her while watching her with pure awe, her hair completely tousled and spread on her pillow, her eyes closed with her face still contorted in pleasure and her mouth hung open as a few more soft moans left it. She was beautiful.
"Fuck, that was-."
"Good right?" Y/N asked cockily as Kate finally came down from her high and smirked mischievously right at her. She knew Kate thought that, but the stubborn girl she was would never admit it, so she only rolled her eyes at her. With her newfound strength, Kate switched their positions quickly and settled between Y/N’s legs. "Oh."
"Now try to be quiet as I fuck you nicely." Kate smirked down at Y/N and slipped her tongue past her open mouth to tease her as her hand skidded down her stomach and reached quickly its yearned destination. Kate swallowed a low whine from Y/N as she circled her clit, before moving her lips away and sending a warning look to Y/N, who obediently nodded. Kate smiled softly at that and descended her lips down Y/N’s jaw to nibble the skin there, while her hand kept on moving circularly on her clit to work Y/N up some more.
"Enough teasing. Inside."
"Ah-ah, no bossing me, or I’m not fucking you." Kate taunted as she pressed more firmly onto Y/N’s clit and Y/N wailed pitifully in need. Kate’s gloating smirk fell off her face as she moaned under her breath when Y/N pushed her hand away and replaced it with her own, her middle finger slipping into her quickly as she moaned lewdly right onto Kate’s lips. "Fuck."
"Since you were being an ass, I’m doing it my own." Y/N gritted through her teeth as she fought off another loud moan. Kate stared mesmerized as Y/N’s finger moved in and out of her fast, her lips drying up in a second as arousal pooled once again between her legs. It was like she was frozen in her spot as she witnessed Y/N pleasure herself, but when Y/N bucked her hips up and moaned lowly, she got pulled out of her haze and quickly gripped Y/N’s wrist to stop her movements, causing the girl to groan out in frustration.
"As hot as this is, I want to fuck you."
"Then fucking do it." Y/N gritted through her teeth again, but Kate could detect a pleading undertone and she knew she teased Y/N enough. The girl wanted to have her needed orgasm and she was sure as hell she was going to give it to her. The best one she ever had.
Kate trapped Y/N’s eyes in a staring contest as she silently pulled her finger out of her and without breaking their eye contact she moved her finger up to her lips and pushed it into her mouth, moaning around it as Y/N’s taste filled her senses, "delicious."
Y/N moaned pitifully between them and gripped Kate’s scalp hard as she made her lick her finger clean, their position so intimate they both felt trapped in a bubble, "I can’t take it anymore, Kate. Fuck me."
And Kate spurred into action at the pleading tone, deciding not to mock her more and just pulling her finger out of her mouth with a loud pop and sliding slowly over her body, leaving a trail of small kisses from her sternum, to her left boob, ignoring her nipple to not get distracted in her task, down her stomach before settling between her legs and meeting Y/N’s eyes pointedly, "I can’t wait to lick you clean." Kate murmured on Y/N’s left hip before leaving a small hickey there, soothing the skin with her tongue then inching her mouth closer to where Y/N needed her the most. She started by laying her lips on Y/N’s clit, smiling when the girl whined in pure bliss and bucked her hips up needily, so she placed her hand on her right hip while the other hauled Y/N’s leg over her shoulder to give her more space to operate before starting on sucking on her clit fervently, pinching her leg hard when Y/N emitted a loud moan of satisfaction, "quiet."
"Ah-right, sorry. It was just so-fuck- good." Kate smiled on Y/N’s clit and paid attention to it for just a few more seconds before sticking her tongue out and laying it flat at the base of Y/N’s core, before moving it up slowly and lapping up the juices there, "oh Kate." The black haired girl repeated the gesture two more times before she too felt like Y/N had truly enough of her teasing and slipped her tongue in her entrance slowly, savoring each inch she slipped in Y/N’s core as her wall clenched deliciously around her wet muscle. As she slipped her tongue all the way in, her nose bumped onto Y/N’s clit and that, with the pleasurable intrusion provided by her tongue, made Y/N moan again as she bucked her hips up in need, "Kate."
"Hm." Kate hummed at the warning tone and quickly slipped her tongue out before slamming it back in and curling it, repeating the gesture over and over again as she clamped down on her leg, drunk on Y/N’s moans of approval. She devoured Y/N with precise and hungry strokes, pushing Y/N’s hips down every time they bucked up too harshly from her ministrations and hummed into her core from time to time as her taste invaded her sense. "Hm." Kate hummed particularly low into Y/N’s core when the girl gripped her hair and pushed her more into her core and got rewarded by the sexiest moan Y/N ever emitted, causing shivers to wreck the black haired girl’s body, the need to hear it again fogging up her mind. She tentatively slammed her tongue back in and curled it like she had been doing to deliver the best pleasure possible to Y/N and hummed again, causing that sexy moan to leave Y/N from above once more. "So fucking hot." Kate commented on Y/N’s slits when she pulled her tongue out to take some needed breath and Y/N gripped her hair harder as the gesture surprisingly turned her on, causing a splash of arousal to drip down her core.
"Do it again." Y/N pleaded Kate as she lifted her head off her pillow and the archer met her eyes as she did what she asked, lapping up at the juices dripping from her and humming lewdly right into her core, causing Y/N’s body to tremble as she moaned out Kate’s name, "oh fuck Kate, that was so fucking good."
Kate growled in ecstasy at that and, fueled by the need to drink up her orgasm, she unexpectedly pushed two fingers into Y/N as she clamped her mouth down on her clit, making Y/N’s head to slump back harshly on her pillow as she arched her back in pure bliss, feeling her orgasm approach fast. "You are so fucking tight."
Y/N moaned at the filthy words and bucked her hips up, asking for more, her body thrashing around as pleasure pumped fast in her veins while her senses were overwhelmed by everything Kate, "fuck Kate, more! I’m close."
And Kate did what Y/N asked, curling her fingers after slamming them back in while sucking harshly on her clit, never slowing down her tempo and always trying to apply the right pressure on Y/N’s clit. When she felt the small bundle of nerves twitch under her lips, she quickly moved her mouth and fingers away from Y/N, causing a whine of protest to leave Y/N, and quickly murmured, "come for me, let me taste you." And after that she replaced her fingers with her tongue as she slammed it back into Y/N and curled it as deep as she could, while her thumb pressed down on Y/N’s clit firmly. The Y/E/C girl came a few moments later with a loud moan of Kate’s name she promptly muffled with her hand and the archer wailed too as Y/N’s release invaded her mouth.
"Kate!"
"Hm, so fucking delicious." Kate lapped up at Y/N’s juices eagerly, while decreasing her movements on her clit to help Y/N ride her high out, her hand clamping down on Y/N’s thigh and Y/N’s hand in her hair grounding her to the moment. Her senses were so high on Y/N as she tasted her and her ears got filled with Y/N’s small wails as she came down from her intense orgasm that she felt she had never been so happy in that moment and she made sure to savor it thoroughly. Only when Y/N slumped back on the bed and pulled softly on Kate’s scalp, Kate stopped her movements and reluctantly detached from Y/N’s core, licking her lips clean as she moved up Y/N’s body.
"C’mere." Y/N growled as Kate met her eyes with satisfaction on her face and her chin still glistened with her juices, gripped the back of her neck and kissed her deeply, moaning softly when she tasted herself on Kate’s tongue. After pulling away from some needed breath, Kate’s body slumped beside Y/N’s one and with her hand drew idle circles around Y/N’s right nipple, their eyes never moving away from the other. "Stop or you’re gonna turn me on again."
"That was my intention." Kate smirked mischievously and bit seductively on her bottom lip, "what time is it?"
Y/N moved her head to the side to look at her bedside alarm clock before meeting Kate’s blue eyes again, "it’s 10:20 p.m."
"There’s still a lot of time." Kate murmured as she kissed Y/N again, starting the kiss as slow and languid before their desire took over and their tongues slid over each other to start an hungrier kiss. They went at it for other two more rounds before they slumped back on the bed, completely spent but satisfied. "Shit, it’s getting late! I need to be at practice at 7 a.m."
Y/N watched as Kate sprinted off the bed and dressed herself back, looking at the time quickly and widening her eyes as she looked at the time, 1:12 a.m., and sighed out contentedly. "You can always tell your coach you did plenty of cardio tonight." Kate surprisingly huffed out a laugh as she finished pulling her hoodie on and moved towards the window, climbing out of it without saying goodbye. Y/N leaned back on the bed and covered herself with her duvet before falling asleep right away with a dumb smile on her lips.

After finishing the last few touch ups to your makeup you made your way out of the bathroom, happy and content with how your outfit looked.
The scent of your body wash still lingered on your skin as you were freshly showered, your hair was styled to perfection, and you were clad in one of your favorite dresses that you know your girlfriend loves just as much.
Tonight was a very special night for you and Kate. The two of you were attending an event, but not just any event.
Kate would finally be meeting your dad for the first time.
She’s met your mom and brother as well as a few cousins on occasion since the two of you have been dating for almost half a year. However, she’s never had the chance to be introduced to your dad.
Between Kate’s avenger duties and your dad’s job, schedules haven’t always lined up.
Your dad had always been a very busy person since you were young with him being the CEO of a well-known company. Him having to leave for a week or two sometimes for business trips wasn’t unusual as his job keeps him on his toes.
So unfortunately he’s not always home, but when given the opportunity to take time off to be with his family, he does.
Like tonight.
Your family was having their annual holiday party and your dad was coming home to attend, so it’s safe to say Kate would be taking this very seriously.
Hence, why when you walked out of the bathroom and into the bedroom, you were met with a very frustrated looking Kate standing in front of the mirror hanging on the closet door.
She had a frown on her face as she held a tie in each hand, alternating holding one tie up to her collar, then the other.
You watched her from the doorway for a few moments. During that time, she switched back and forth between ties probably about eight times before you noticed her growing more upset, so you decided to step in.
Walking behind her, you placed your hands on her shoulders and gave them a comforting squeeze. She didn’t seem phased by your presence, seemingly still stuck in her head with her current predicament.
“What’s got you looking so upset, hm?” you asked as you gazed at her face through the reflection in the mirror. “You’ve been standing here with a frown on your face since I came out of the bathroom, and who knows how long you’ve been here before that.”
Kate let out a big sigh and met your eyes in the mirror as she gestured to one of the ties, “This one seems like it would be too much,” she held up the other option, “And this one is just plain and simple, but it might be the safer option.”
She stared into the mirror once more, “I don’t want it to seem like I’m trying too hard, but I also don’t want to seem boring.” she said.
Your expression softened as you turned your head to look at her side profile, “Which one do you like with this suit more?”
Kate tilted her head as she contemplated one last time before holding up her final choice, “This one.”
Taking the chosen piece of fabric from her hand, you spun her around to face you and draped the tie around her neck as you began to tie it.
“You don’t think I should go with the other one? What if I just go without it? Or would that make me look too informal?” she rambled, hesitancy evident in her voice.
You looked up to meet her eyes with a comforting smile, “I think you should wear whatever you want to wear.” you said, focusing back on the task at hand. “I also don’t think he’s going to judge you based off of the pattern on your tie, or if you choose not to wear one at all.”
Kate looked at you with masked surprise, but you’ve been with her long enough to be able to see right through her and read her like a book.
“I know you’ve been acting as if meeting him isn’t making you anxious, but I know you.” you said. “If I didn’t know before, I definitely know now since I just witnessed you almost pop a forehead vein over a tie.” you giggled and you heard your girlfriend chuckle too.
“You can relax, Kate, you’re gonna be okay. He’s not a monster.”
Your girlfriend sighed and lightly laughed, “It’s just—”, she started but stopped herself. You gave her a moment to collect her thoughts.
“Getting his approval is really important to me because he’s your dad, you know? He’s really important to you.” she explained and you nodded, letting her know that you were listening.
“So I wanna show him that I’m fit to be dating his daughter and if my outfit will help me make a good first impression, I want to wear a nice one.”
Your heart nearly bursted at her confession and your eyes lifted to meet hers in a loving gaze.
“Oh, Katie,” The pure sincerity on her face was overwhelming enough to make you fall for the tall brunette standing in front of you all over again.
“I love you, so he automatically has no choice but to like you because we both know you don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon.”
You tightened the accessory around her neck and smoothed down her suit jacket. Your hand came up to caress the side of her face with your thumb, “I’ll be there the whole time. It’ll be okay.”
Kate reached to hold your hand on her cheek in hers and turned to kiss your palm. “Why do you always make everything so much easier?”
“It’s what I do.” you giggled, and she smiled before leaning in to press her lips to yours in a tender kiss.
Neither of you wanted to pull away until you had to, so you finally separated once air became a necessity instead of a suggestion.
Kate rested her forehead against yours and gazed into your eyes, “I love you.”
“I love you too.” You smiled softly in return, “Ready to go now?”
She took a deep breath before nodding her head confidently, “Let’s go,”
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
When you arrived the party was in full swing. It was loud with chattering people and an occasional laugh while they sipped on drinks.
You’d already run into your brother and a few other family members who stopped to give you a hug and say hi, greeting Kate in the process too.
It wasn’t very long before you saw your mom making her way over to you with a contagious smile plastered on her face that you easily returned.
“Y/n, you finally made it!” once she was within arms reach she pulled you into a tight hug. “You look so beautiful, honey.” she said as she kissed the crown of your head.
Hugging her back, you giggled, “Thanks, mom. You look amazing too, and the place looks great.”
“Well thank you, darling. And I see you brought Kate!”
She pulled back to address your girlfriend who held out her hand with a kind smile at the mention of her name.
“It’s good to see you again, Mrs. Y/l/n.” Kate said.
Your mom glanced down at her outstretched hand and playfully rolled her eyes, “Oh please, Kate, none of that formal stuff you know that come here.”
Kate was pulled into the same tight embrace you’d been pulled into just moments prior, and she happily reciprocated.
You smiled as you watched two of the most important people in your life easily fall into conversation.
But as you scanned the vicinity of the venue you realized there was one person you had yet to see since you got here.
“Hey, mom? Is dad here?” you wondered.
Hearing the question she went to look around for him as well, but there was no need to when you saw the man in question appear behind your mom with a glass in hand.
“Did someone ask for me?” he said with a grin on his face.
Kate broke into a small smile seeing your face light up. The view calming the nerves she was suddenly feeling just a little bit.
“Dad, hey!” you greeted cheerfully.
He held his arms open in invitation and you gladly moved into them to give him a hug. “Hey, sweetheart. How have you been?”
You stepped back to return to your girlfriend’s side. You’d noticed how nervous she became at the presence of your father.
“I’ve missed you, but I’ve been okay and I have someone I’d like you to meet.” you answered and watched his eyes flicker over to the girl beside you. “Dad, this is my girlfriend Kate, and Kate, this is my dad.”
“It’s so nice to finally meet you, Mr. Y/l/n. Y/n’s told me so much about you it feels like I already know you.” Kate chuckled and held out her hand for him to shake, but she almost took it back now noticing how clammy it was.
She didn’t want your dad to have to shake her sweaty hand.
You watched as his lips pulled into a tight smile, “Likewise”, he glanced down at her hand, but never made a move to take it. “I’ve heard a lot about you too. ” he said.
Kate was clearly very nervous at this point, judging by the way she dropped her hand and you watched her shakily wipe them on her pants. But she kept a smile on face and tried to keep the conversation flowing.
“I-I hope she’s told you all good things?”
Your dad gave a nod of his head as he eyed her down, “The best.”
Silence fell and as you looked between the two it was almost painful how awkward the atmosphere seemed to be now.
Your dad reached out to brush off the shoulder of her jacket, and deciding to help girlfriend you took her hand and squeezed it, “How about we all—”
“Let me talk to you for a second, Kate.” your dad interrupted you to speak to her.
“Dad—”
“It’s okay, Y/n.” Kate looked at you with a reassuring eyes.
You searched them for hesitancy, but she was determined to get him to like her. Yes, your dad did look a little intimidating, but she wasn’t going to be scared away so easily. You nodded and let go of her hand to watch her follow your dad out of sight.
“I’m sure he just wants to get to know her. You know how parents are, honey.” your mom reassured and you nodded.
She was probably right.
Kate followed your dad through the crowd and shoved her hands in her pockets when she was led outside onto the balcony, sheltering them from the chilly air.
“Listen, Mr. Y/l/n, I know it’s late that I’m just now meeting you after being with Y/n for half a year, but I can assure you I would never hurt her. She means too much to me for me to do that.”
Your dad just blinked at her for a moment before speaking, “Kate, do you know that Y/n’s my only daughter?”
The archer nodded her head and he took that as the go-ahead to continue.
“Her entire life her protection has been mine and my wife’s responsibility, and our responsibility only.
Kate didn’t exactly know where this was going, so she just opted to listen.
“And for the first time in her life we have to hand that responsibility over to someone else.” he said before taking a couple steps closer to the tall brunette.
“I know what kind of work you do and I know what all can happen, so I need to know that I’m able trust you, Kate.”
She should’ve known that this would come up. Her job isn’t usual by any means and she knows there are risks. Of course your dad would be skeptical about you dating someone like her.
“I understand your concerns, Mr. Y/l/n. I can promise you that what happens out in the field stays there, we take precautions to make that happen. And you should know that I’d never let anything happen to your daughter. I just want to make her happy because she makes me so happy that it’s the least I could do for her. I love Y/n, so I promise I’ll do everything I can to keep her safe.”
This was the first time she had seen your dad look at her with any expression that wasn’t a glare since meeting him, and it lifted all the weights off of her shoulders.
He held out his hand with a soft smile, “Welcome to the family, Kate. I look forward to seeing you more often. Love the tie by the way.”
You were standing at the bar, waiting on a drink when Kate finally spotted you again. She made her way over to you and placed her hand on the small of your back gently to not startle you.
Recognizing the touch instantly you turned to face her, “Hey, I got you your favorite.” you said just as the bartender placed the drinks down in front of you.
“Oh thank you, my love.” she looked at you gratefully and took a sip of her drink. It was much needed after the stress of tonight.
“How did it go? Is everything okay? He didn’t threaten you did he?”
Kate chuckled at the ramble of questions before shaking her head, “No, he didn’t threaten me. And it went amazing. Everything is perfectly fine.”
Her words made you smile happily and you leaned in to give her a quick loving kiss, pulling away with a giggle and teasing look when she went to lean in for another.
“Told you it would be.”

Drained Embrace
Tumblr media
pairing: Kate Bishop x Fem! Reader
warnings: small angst, kate being mean once :( but she’s just tired! reader feeling bad, fluff , happy ending !! i think that’s it (?)
word count: 1.4K
summary: After a long exhausting mission, Kate wants to go home and relax.
_______________________________________________
The city lights cast a soft glow through the windows as Kate Bishop trudged into the apartment, feeling every ounce of exhaustion weigh her down. Her muscles screamed in protest with every step she took, her mind still reeling from the chaos of the mission she had just returned from. All she wanted was a hot shower and the comfort of her own bed.
The apartment was quiet, besides the gentle hum of the refrigerator that filled the room. The soft click of the door closing behind her barely registered as she dropped her gear by the entrance. It was quiet, too quiet for her liking. She had half-expected to be greeted by the sound of her girlfriend's voice. Kate's heart sank a little as she realized her partner wasn't there to greet her. She had been looking forward to coming home to the warmth of her embrace, but now, all she felt was pure exhaustion.
"Hey, babe, you home?" Kate called out, her voice a tired rasp, as she dragged herself further into the living room, when there was no response, she frowned, letting out a weary sigh and dropped her gear on the floor with a clatter. She rubbed her temples, trying to push away the headache that threatened to consume her. But as she turned around, she was met with the sight of her girlfriend sitting on a couch, engrossed in a book, a tired smile playing on Kate’s lips.
"Hey, Kate!" you chirped, directing your full attention to her. "How was the mission?"
Kate forced a smile, though it felt more like a grimace. "Long," she replied, her voice strained. "I'm just glad to be home."
But you didn't seem to notice the exhaustion etched into Kate's features. Instead, you moved closer, wrapping your arms around Kate in a tight hug. "I missed you." you murmured, nuzzling into Kate's neck.
Kate's muscles tensed at the sudden contact. She tried to muster up some patience, but it was quickly slipping away.
Your smile faltered for a moment, feeling your girlfriend tense under your hold. You patted the space beside you on the couch. "Come sit with me. Tell me all about it."
Kate hesitated, her exhaustion making her crave solitude more than anything else. But she relented, sinking onto the couch beside her girlfriend. As she began recounting the mission, she couldn't shake the feeling of being suffocated by her girlfriend's presence.
With each passing moment, her girlfriend's touches grew more insistent, her questions more probing. Kate felt her patience wearing thin, her exhaustion morphing into frustration.
"Can we do this later?" she said, her tone sharper than intended. "I just need some space right now."
You pulled back, hurt flickering in your eyes for a brief second. "Oh," you whispered, taking a step back. "I didn't realize- I didn’t mean to overstep.. I’m sorry.."
Kate felt a pang of guilt at the sight of your crestfallen expression, but she couldn't bring herself to soften. Not when she felt like she was on the verge of collapsing. With a curt nod, she quickly got off the couch and headed straight for their bedroom, shutting the door behind her with a resounding slam.
Kate sat on the edge of the bed in their shared bedroom, her head buried in her hands. The room was enveloped in a heavy silence, broken only by the soft hum of the air conditioning.
The events of the past few hours weighed heavily on her mind, her heart heavy with guilt and regret. She was exhausted, yes, but she couldn't shake the memory of the hurt in your eyes when she snapped at you. Kate's exhaustion threatened to overwhelm her, her muscles aching with fatigue.
But even as her body begged for rest, her mind raced with thoughts of you, of how she had let her frustration get the best of her.
“Fuck.” Kate mumbled, throwing herself onto the bed. Even though she’s exhausted, her mind filled with worry about you, wondering what you’re thinking about. Wondering if Kate had messed up.
Kate's heart twisted painfully in her chest at the thought of it.
"I'm such an idiot," Kate muttered to herself, her voice barely above a whisper.
But now, in the solitude of their shared bedroom, Kate had let her exhaustion and frustration get the better of her, lashing out at the one person who meant the world to her. And for what? Just for a few moments of peace and quiet? When she could be in your arms right now.
The minutes stretched into hours, the silence becoming suffocating in its intensity. Kate glanced at the clock on the bedside table and sighed. Her mind wandered back to the mission that took place hours ago. The danger she had faced had taken its toll on Kate. She had been running on adrenaline, her emotions raw and unfiltered. And when you had greeted her with open arms, all Kate could think about was how badly she needed space.
Tears stung Kate's eyes as she thought about it more and more. The way she had shut you out when all you had wanted was to comfort her.
She knew she needed to apologize, but fear held her back, fear of facing you, fear of admitting just how much she had messed up, the fear of rejection held her back, anchoring her to the spot.
Kate was everything you could think of, including being someone who overthinks constantly.
As the silence stretched on, a different kind of fear began to creep into Kate's mind. What if you never forgave her? What if she had finally pushed you away for good? The mere thought sent a shiver down Kate's spine, a cold dread settling in the pit of her stomach.
Desperate to push away the thoughts swirling in her mind, Kate buried her face in her hands, willing herself to calm down. She took deep breaths, in and out, trying to steady her racing heartbeat. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered in the air.
Finally, with a heavy sigh, Kate pushed herself off the bed and made her way to the door. She hesitated for a moment, her hand hovering over the handle, before finally steeling herself and opening it.
The living room was bathed in soft moonlight, you were curled up on the couch, fast asleep. Kate's heart clenched at the sight, her guilt washing over her in waves. She moved closer, kneeling down beside you, her eyes tracing the gentle curves of your face.
"I'm sorry, Y/N," Kate whispered, her voice barely audible in the stillness of the night. "I never meant to hurt you. I was just... so tired, and scared, I didn't mean to take it out on you."
She reached out to brush a stray lock of hair from your face. "Please forgive me," she whispered, her voice cracking with emotion. "I love you more than anything, Y/N. I can't bear the thought of losing you."
Placing a soft kiss to your forehead, Kate rose to her feet and made her way back to their bedroom.
Soft footsteps approached the bedroom door, the door creaked open, and Kate looked up, her breath catching in her throat as she met your gaze. Your eyes were red-rimmed and puffy, evidence of the tears you had shed in Kate's absence.
“Y/N" Kate whispered, her voice barely above a hoarse whisper. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. I was just... I was just so tired, and I took it out on you, and I-“
You stepped further into the room, closing the door behind you with a soft click. You moved closer to Kate, your expression softening with each step. "It’s okay Kate," you said, your voice barely louder than a whisper. "I forgive you. I know you didn’t mean it. I should’ve seen how tired you were and given you space, I’m sorry for that.”
Tears welled up in Kate's eyes as she reached out for you, pulling you into a tight embrace. "I'm sorry," she whispered, her voice breaking with emotion. "I love you, Y/N. I love you more than anything in this world."
You melted into Kate's embrace, a soft giggle escaping from your lips. “I love you so much, Kate.” With that being said, you softly pressed your lips against hers.
“Now let’s get some sleep, hm?” You rasped out and guided Kate to lay back down onto the bed as she wrapped her arms around your waist and eventually drifted off to sleep.

The girl who works at the hot chocolate stand at Rockefeller
Tumblr media
Reposted from my Wattpad.
This is part of my 12 days of fics
Pairings: Kate Bishop x Fem!Reader
Warnings: none
Summary: in which Kate Bishop buys too many hot chocolates
It's that time of year again. The temperature drops, tiny snowflakes fall from the sky, everyone scrambles to get their holiday shopping done, while making cookies and getting bundled up in red PJs to watch Christmas films. Some people drop the needle down on their Christmas vinyls.
You love everything about this time of year. The cozy vibes, magical feeling, and family gatherings. Which is why you work the hot chocolate stand at Rockefeller center every year. You love watching people ice skate and gathering the tree for the lighting. When you're off your job you join in, and enjoy the holiday magic.
As you prepared orders, you thought about what to get your little sister for christmas. And decided on an American Girl doll. She loves those dolls and has always wanted one, even though they're crazy expensive. But you've saved up a lot for presents this year.
You heard some people whispering and pointing to the entrance. Curious, you looked up to see The Avengers walking around. You heard rumors about them visiting this year as a group, but here they are.
They walked up the stand and got in line.
You made many cups of coco, from ex assassins and super soldiers, to a witch, a guy who can run really fast, a guy with an iron suit,an Asgardian god, and a hulk. And the two world's greatest archers.
One of them, being Kate Bishop. The raven haired girl studied you for a moment. She thought you were extremely beautiful. She got too caught up in her thoughts when she didn't notice you had finished making her drink.
"Uh, Ms. Bishop? Your drink is ready." You spoke up and she shook her head and took the warm styrofoam cup. "I'm sorry, thank you..."
"Y/n." you responded with a warm smile.
She smiled back at you.
"Y/n." she repeated and she walked back t0 the group of supers.
"Well...you seemed very occupied over there." Natasha smirked while Yelena let out a laugh.
Kate rolled her eyes.
"Okay, whatever."
"Come on guys! Let's go ice skating!" Steve exclaimed. The team started skating around, but Kate couldn't keep her mind off of you. She wanted to see you again. So, she bought another cup of hot chocolate. And another one. And in the words of DJ Khaled, another one. Till you finally spoke up about it.
"You must really like hot chocolate, don't you?"
Her face turned crimson.
"I-uh, yeah. I guess you could say that. Um, when do you get off?"
You smirked at her question.
"Whenever I can. Which happens to be right now." you responded.
Kate smiled and you closed up the stand, getting bundled back up in your mittens and coats. And your All Too Well scarf you bought from Taylor Swift's merch store.
She took you by the hand.
The two of you talked for awhile before the tree lighting ceremony started. You stood with Kate by the rest of the team. And as soon as the lights on the tree came on, she grabbed your face in her hands and pressed her lips to yours.
You happily kissed her back.
This was definitely the most magical Christmas you've ever experienced.

Am I Worthless
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kate Bishop x Reader
Word Count: 1224
Warnings: Depression, ⚠️ Self Harm, Angst ⚠️, Fluff, Soft Kate.
A/n: I was borderline in tears writing this. I'm learning that when I am depressed I write the comfort I'm searching for by using my feelings. So please enjoy my breakdown and hopefully it can bring you some comfort.
NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO STEAL, COPY, OR REBLOG MY WORK AS THEIR OWN
The phone rings against your ear as your breath comes out jagged. The call is picked up with a bout of silence only the sound of your breathing could be heard. “Hello?” A groggy Kate answers the phone. “Katie.” You whimper. You can hear her shifting quickly at the sound of your voice. “Y/n what’s wrong baby?” Her voice is laced with concern.
Your mind spirals out of control, spewing harsh words into your ears. Unspoken words by loved ones that aren’t actually true but your mind tells you that it is. You’re a burden too messed up for someone to love. You’ve somehow done something wrong when you haven’t done anything at all and maybe that is the problem. You’re the problem and no one should have to deal with how messed up you are.
A sob rips from your throat, your mind's unspoken truth breaking you down. Kate’s heart breaks concern flooding her every thought. “Baby please.” She pleads with you. “What’s wrong?” You shake your head unable to find words, regret filling you for waking her in the middle of the night with how worthless you are. “I’m coming over.” You hear more shuffling as Kate gets out of bed and puts on a shirt. “I-I’m sorry, I-I shouldn’t have called. I’m sorry.” Your hand trembles slightly as you start to pull the phone away. “No baby please stay on the phone with me. I’m heading over right now.” Kate exits her apartment, running down the stairs and getting in her car.
“I’m sorry.” You mumble out before ending the call. “No, no, no, no, no.” Kate mutters as the line goes dead. She tosses her phone in the seat and races to your place. She knows that you struggle with depression and anxiety but she has never heard you like this and she is truly scared. What is normally a 15 minute drive turns into 5 as she barely shuts the car off before running up the stairs to your apartment. She is thankful that she has a key as she lets herself in.
There you are sitting on the couch, the glow of the tv barely illuminating your face. It’s just enough Kate can see your tear stained face and the fresh tears falling. You're sitting in a ball, a blanket draped over your head, your right hand in a tight fist. “Oh Y/n/n.” Kate rushes over to you but you don’t meet her gaze, ashamed of yourself. She cups your face in her hands but your eyes don’t meet hers. She looks you over until her gaze stops on your clenched fist. A trickle of blood peeking from under your fingers as it trails down towards your wrist.
Kate gently takes your hand in hers and you reluctantly open your fist. She gasps slightly seeing the razor blade nestled in your hand and digging lines into the palm of your hand. “I-I’m sorry. I wanted to use it so bad. I tried to stop myself. I tried b-but I couldn’t.” You sob finally meeting her gaze, but it’s not what you expected. Her face is soft and comforting. She leans in, placing a soft kiss on your forehead.
“You did amazing Y/n/n.” Kate gently takes the bloodied razor from your hand, placing it on the coffee table making a mental note to get rid of it later after she has helped you. You shake your head at her words. “Yes you did princess.” You look at her as more tears fall. “How?” Your voice is small but Kate just gives you a soft smile. “You could have done so much more but you held onto it. You didn’t let the urge fully take over.” You look down at your bloodied hand, a few straight cuts line the middle of your palm from when the blade shifted.
It could have been worse. You let those words play in your head. Kate is right, you could have easily sliced up your arms or thighs but instead you held the blade stopping yourself from doing more. You look back to Kate. She’s here and she hasn’t run away. A reassuring smile on her face to show you that she is here and she isn’t going anywhere. She came when she didn’t have to come. Maybe she does really love you.
“Let’s get you cleaned up baby.” Kate breaks you out of your thoughts. You just give her a small nod. She leads you to your bathroom where she sits you on the counter before she goes into your bathroom cabinet and brings out a first aid kit. She gently cleans your hand and checks on you throughout. Once she cleans all the blood away she applies some antibiotic ointment, placing a sterile gauze patch on the area before wrapping it up. When she is done she lifts your hand gently kissing the bandage before she leans in and kisses you softly.
You don’t think you deserve all of this softness and empathy but Kate makes you feel safe and loved. She feels like home. A few more tears slip from your eyes. “Thank you.” You say softly not even sure she could hear you but she does. Kate lifts you off the counter, having you wrap your legs around her waist. You bury your head in her neck and breathe in her familiar scent. “I love you so much.” Kate kisses the side of your head as she carries you into your bedroom and places you down on the bed. She goes to the other side climbing into the bed with you. You immediately snuggle into her side as she wraps her arms around you.
The room is silent for a while. The only sounds you hear are your soft breathing and the beating of Kate’s heart. “Why?” You mumble looking up at Kate. She tilts her head slightly. “Why what princess?” A genuine look takes over Kate’s features. “W-why didn’t you just leave? You deserve so much better than me.” Your voice shakes with your words scared of her response. Kate’s heart breaks more for you. “I love you so much princess and would do anything to make you happy. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Be here for you through your best days and your worst. You are my everything and I want to give you the world if you let me.”
Your tears turn from sad to happy as you lean up and kiss Kate. She smiles against your lips before you pull away. “I love you too. I don’t deserve you.” You lay your head back on her chest. “You deserve the world princess and I will give it to you.” You can’t help the light pink dusting that covers your cheeks and a soft smile. “I want you to have everything too.” She leans down and kisses you again.
You didn’t expect the night to end like this but you're so glad now that you called your girlfriend. You may not be ok right now but with Kate’s help you will heal and when you fall down again she will be there to pick you back up. If she falls you will be right there with her to give her everything that she has given you.
