Saagara - 3 - Wacław Zimpel and four Carnatic musicians from southern India

Saagara’s new album 3, is the third installment of this acclaimed collaboration between Polish producer/multi-instrumentalist Wacław Zimpel and four virtuosic musicians from the Carnatic musical tradition of southern India: percussionists Giridhar Udupa (ghatam), Aggu Baba (khanjira) and K Raja (thavil) and violinist Mysore N. Karthik. It’s a buzzing juxtaposition of dense Indian rhythms and pulsating electronic patterns. An album of deeply transformative compositions that navigate tradition and experimentation as they move towards the universal. On 3 the music is not as contemplative as it was on the previous two albums. Acidic electronic post-club sounds now counterpoint the traditional instruments, and the instruments themselves are filtered through contemporary processing. Saagara’s 3 is also more studio-based and conceptual. Zimpel devised electronic sequences and then got together in a Warsaw studio with Udupa, who began by adding konnakol (vocal percussion) rhythmic patterns to the sequences. Zimpel’s production grew from there – developing additional electronic textures, manipulating the sound of individual instruments, and deconstructing or reducing the instrument tracks altogether. As a result, the boundary between the acoustic and the electronic, the tradition and the future, is blurred. Saagara’s new album brings the ancient ritual of Carnatic music, a music that carries the listener from one state to another, into a dance with electronic music and its techniques, beats and synthesis. The whole thing unfolds in a cosmic trance; an inspired and buzzing juxtaposition of dense Indian rhythms with pulsating electronic patterns.

One of Poland’s most creative and original artists, an outlier among his generation of jazz musicians in his country, Waclaw Zimpel, has released Saagara-3. This is his third album in a series in which wild saxophone and electronica meet Carnatic musical traditions. Zimpel collaborates with Giridhar Udupa, Aggu Baba, Mysore N. Karthik, and K. Raja.

The Raja Saab’: Prabhas is super-cool in latest poster

The Raja Saab’ is set to arrive at the cinemas on April 10th, 2025. Touted by People Media Factory as a romantic horror comedy, the film is directed by Maruthi.

A new poster in which Prabhas is seen in a relaxed demeanour is out. “Cool composure with a presence that dominates. The King of Swag is here to bring you an MASSIVE treat with his UNMATCHED AURA,” the makers wrote.

A special video introducing the world of the film will be out on October 23rd, marking Prabhas’ birthday. “Stay tuned to welcome him in a KING SIZED way on 23rd Oct (sic),” the makers added.

Producer TG Vishwa Prasad recently revealed that a colossal indoor set, spanning 40,000 square feet, has been constructed for the pan-Indian film. With music by SS Thaman, cinematography by Karthik Palani and production design by Rajeevan, the film brings together the Ram-Laxman duo and King Solomon to helm the action department. Nidhhi Agerwal and Malavika Mohanan are associated with ‘The Raja Saab’.

Prabhas announces Maruthi-directed entertainer The Raja Saab, see first look

It is touted to be a king-sized romantic horror entertainer. Director Maruthi said, “The Raja Saab stands as one of my most ambitious projects to date."

Following Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, Prabhas announces his next The Raja Saab, a romantic horror entertainer by director Maruthi under the People Media Factory banner. A Pan-India film with an illustrious cast, the film will be released in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi. Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad, with co-producer Vivek Kuchibotla, The Raja Saab promises to be an out-and-out entertainer presenting Prabhas in a ‘massy’ look in the film.

The film’s music is being orchestrated by National Award-winning music composer, Thaman S who is regarded as one of the most prominent and gifted musical talents in Telugu and Tamil cinema. He’s best known for his work in the 2020 musical hit ‘Ala Vaikuntapuramulo’ and the viral ‘Hungy Cheetah’ song from ‘OG’ in addition to more. Known as one of the most accomplished and celebrated filmmakers in Telugu cinema, Maruthi is credited for superhits like family entertainer Prati Roju Pandage, first-ever Telugu horror comedy Prema Katha Chitram, and romantic comedy ‘Mahanubhavudu’ amongst many others.

Ecstatic about the upcoming romantic horror entertainer and joining forces with Prabhas, director Maruthi said, “The Raja Saab stands as one of my most ambitious projects to date. Film’s Producer TG Vishwa Prasad, who’s known for backing superhit commercial potboilers like Karthikeya 2 and Dhamaka, added, “We are thrilled to have Prabhas on board for our upcoming romantic horror entertainer The Raja Saab. He’s truly a Pan-India star who’s loved by audiences for his brilliant range as an actor and we truly believe he’s best suited for the role. Audiences can expect to see him in a massy and vintage look that they have long yearned for. With Maruthi’s filmmaking brilliance, we are truly looking forward to beginning this journey.”

Director Maruthi, confirming the romantic horror entertainer, announced on social media that The Raja Saab is Prabhas’ special Pongal treat for fans worldwide. It is touted to be a king-sized romantic horror entertainer.

The film’s cinematography is led by Karthik Palani (Varisu), and VFX is led by Kamal Kannan (Magadheera, Baahubali ) both are renowned for their works in big-budget blockbuster films.
