Polaris found it easy to trace Karme's eyes, watch his path, and let his lips idly part into a smile as the witch's gaze landed upon them. "At least that many, I'll walk you through each- hand in hand." Or hand over hand, whichever worked best for any given scenario.
Even as Polaris spoke he did so with a whisper over the curve of Karme's neck, breaking up his words with a few tender strokes of his lips. He could hear the threading pulse of Karme's heartbeat and smell the ichor coursing through him. A sigh passed with the subtle press of his tongue, idly savoring the taste of warm anxiety washing off the witch beneath him. "I stopped keeping count." Polaris wouldn't be able to answer that question honestly because he lacked so much as a ballpark in which to land.
"You'll be welcome as many nights as you can fit into your schedule." The Olympian had to be busy but Polaris had noted that lovesick stare many times over. Affection and admiration that bordered on worship; naturally, the dragon enjoyed it. He stood to create some distance between them but in the same motion he extended his hand toward Karme; his eyes raked the length of the witch's frame - shamelessly and without even a modicum of remorse. "If I had any doubts about this place you've laid them all to rest, lets make our exit ahead of the crowd."
Tumblr media
Polaris had the uncanny ability to consume the free space in Karme's brain. When Karme thought about him or was even around him, his scatterbrained nature zeroed in on him. If the witch was sustaining multiple thoughts at once, it was always about the way Polaris talked or the many questions there were about his past. Which branch did he come from? How old was he? Why did he choose The Harmonium? What were the limits of his weaves? Karme was fascinated and wanted to know everything, even though a part of him was still freaked out. As the minutes passed by and the endearing (or hot) moments they shared continued to compound Polaris' affirmations, Karme felt more confident that this wasn't dreaming, but the doubt would remain. Everyone in The Keep would probably want Polaris after one look, but Karme couldn't honestly say the same about himself.   But he wanted to. He wanted to look in the mirror or be in a public place with Polaris and know without a shadow of a doubt that he was worthy of a man who saw him the way the elvhen did. "Hundreds?!" he exclaimed, his volume spiking for that moment before he reigned himself in. Given how the last lesson nearly made him bust in his pants, Karme struggled to imagine how many more there could possibly be. Then again, it was equally possible that his head was still in the gutter and Polaris had things to show that wouldn't turn Karme's face red from blush. "Well I … I want to learn them all. With you. From you. Especially if they feel as good as the last lesson did." Now Karme was getting some of his gumption back, looking Polaris right in the eyes until he dropped his gaze to his lips before biting his bottom one.   Even when Karme was feeling low, Polaris never even got annoyed and always knew the right thing to say. He felt better now, still like the wind could blow a little too hard and he'd ruin his knew suit, but better. Karme felt all melty and wobbly, and the invitation to get out of The Keep was enticing enough. It was the gentle kisses against his skin that made him moan though. "H-How many guys have you said that to?" he asks in a part joke, part genuine inquiry, and a part stall tactic because the last thing he wanted was for Polaris to stop kissing his neck. As he shifted against Polaris, leaning into his lips while adjusting himself at the crotch, Karme realized that he was about to be in the same position he was just in all over again if he didn't answer. "Yeah, I-I really wanted to see your studio. And I think I like this place a lot more now so you should buy it if you want. Maybe the next time, as the owner, you could set up a private box for shows then we can do a lot more … kissing."

@ageofkarme location: Comedy Keep, Private Booth notes: yuk yuks but make it a satire about young love
There were a few moments still until the curtain raised, at present there was a fool below juggling poisoned daggers but the trick was he kept flubbing and pricking himself. Every prick caused a portion of the infected digit to flare up, causing his hands to grow progressively larger. Red, then purple, if the man lost the use of his hands did that make this his masterpiece? Polaris didn't find it amusing but he was holding out hope for the main event. What was most intriguing was the full seats, the sold-out boxes, and the full theatre.
In usual fashion, the dragon was dressed well, Polaris could wonder if it was still considered assimilation after all this time. Parts of him still did not belong, maybe he would never feel as though he did, and neither did he wish to. A wolf among sheep and an opportunist, that was the role that Polaris intended to continue playing. While he'd met Karme outside, Polaris had been quick to usher them both inside so they could take their seats.
"What are the odds you're going to be able to sit still for the next two hours before we break for intermission?" Polaris asked, endeared. Idly, Polaris wondered if Karme had taken his advice and slept at all before this. On the same train of thought, the question of whether Karme had ingested anything other than fumes from an engine was making itself known at the back of his thoughts. From their first meeting it had become immediately apparent that while Karme could work himself to the bone, he failed at taking his own self into consideration. Polaris was a selfish creature by nature, he needed to be, which is what gave him some insight into Karme's more self-destructive side.

Polaris was caught off guard by the intensity of Karme's response. The witch kissed him with a desperate hunger that surpassed even his own expectations. As Karme pressed against him, hands grasping and exploring, Polaris felt a surge of heat course through his body. The dragon in him stirred, awakened by the passion and desire radiating from the witch. As Karme pressed against him, hands grasping and exploring, Polaris felt an overwhelming urge to consume the young witch entirely.
His amber eyes flashed with heat as he pulled Karme closer, one hand tangling in his hair while his body responded reflexively with wandering hands that went from the back of Karme’s head to the small of the witch’s back, sighing as his heart hammered under the press of the witch’s hands. Polaris deepened the kiss, his tongue dancing with Karme's as the other practically shoved it down Polaris’s throat - still - he savored every taste and texture. The witch tasted of smoke and steel, of wild magic barely contained.
For a moment, Polaris allowed himself to be consumed by the kiss, meeting Karme's fervor with his own. His hands slid down to Karme's waist, pulling him closer as their tongues danced together. The kiss moved through him like a wildfire, fierce and untamed, while altogether completely consuming but as quickly as it began it was extinguished. Karme shoved away abruptly, scurrying to the far end of the bench. Polaris blinked a few times before he watched with a mixture of amusement and concern as Karme retreated to the far end of the bench, flushed and flustered. The dragon in him wanted to pursue, to recapture that passionate moment, but he restrained himself. Karme was clearly overwhelmed, and Polaris didn't want to push too far too fast.
Under the Keeps’ lighting Polaris skin glowed, his brow slightly furrowed in surprise and amusement. His lips were reddened and swollen from the intensity of their kiss, his eyes darkening with desire and cock already filling enough that he needed to make a subtle adjustment - clearing his throat in the process.
Polaris's typically calm and collected expression was replaced with a surprised one, his lips slightly parted before the part took to a smile. "You’re a quick study," Polaris praised, Karme moved away, but Polaris moved closer, arm folding across the other’s back again. "For both of our sakes, we should slow down… At least while we’re here." Polaris tilted Karme’s chin, as he’d taken to doing so often, "We have all the time we need." His thumb brushed Karme's prominent jawline, "You've nothing to apologize for."

Karme couldn't help but wonder if Polaris learning the full extent of "prank dates" he endured while stuyding in the Tower would change his assessment. In the end, Karme felt like the real fool for how gullible he was. Althea always told him he needed to choose better, yet he never learned how until now. Polaris was better, and even if it were possible for him to lie, Karme would still believe every affirmation and promise that fell from the other's lips.
His fascination with the other man seemed to be endless. Karme had so many questions, and even though he knew Polaris would help him navigate to an answer for each if he blurted them out in rapid succession like he wanted to, he kept a lid on them. The date was going pretty good, plus it was fun stumbling upon details just from spending time with him. A sculpture brought them together but it hadn't come up during the date at all. There was so much for them to say to one another that speaking on an inevitability was unnecessary. Karme would go to Polaris' studio, and Polaris would have gotten to know Karme well enough to turn him into an art form. They got to be each other's muses and then … well, Karme didn't want to get too far ahead of himself.
He might've too if he saw the way Polaris took in his features, so it was probably for the best. If Karme had caught Polaris staring the same way he stared at the elvhen whenever they were conversing, he probably would've had another freakout. Knowing that Polaris did things intentionally to get a rise out of him didn't prepare Karme one bit. Even now when he got in close to press their heads together, Karme froze, paralyzed by a combination of excitement and anxiousness. He was the kind of guy who jumped right in when his brain shifted course, so have Polaris so close yet still so far was agonizing. His thick words slicked with his enigmatic charm drew Karme in as deeply as his eyes did. The witch could feel his breathing grow shallower and his throat go dry, both a result of his mouth absent-mindedly hanging open. He had never experienced what Polaris talked about, and he especially had never been in love, but Karme was seducedby the picture those words painted. When his eyes flicked from their gaze-lock down to Polaris' lips, he knew with certainty that he would lose himself in it. The world would explode and he'd succumb to the weakness that came with it. Why? Because Polaris was good at everything.
The moment their lips touched it felt electric. The kiss was small at first, building upon the initial contact with each passing heartbeat. Karme gave himself to the moment, closing his eyes and following Polaris' lead, letting their mouths dance with each other in a way he'd never experienced before. The world melted away, providing space for Karme to remember every detail. He could never forget how it felt, or what Polaris tasted like, or how the scent of his cologne made the kiss even better. He remembered how it felt to gasp for air when he got pulled closer and how the only air available was what got pushed from Polaris' lungs. The way electricity spread across his body, weakening him, as their kiss grew deeper would be ingrained into his very being. And Karme could never forget this surge of desperation for a man blossoming from deep within his core, how it was the first time he'd ever felt something like that, or how it kept growing and growing and growing…
Then it stopped. Polaris' warmth still fanned across his skin, but now he was left with ragged breaths and no lip-to-lip contact. That was… "Woah," was all Karme could manage as he regained control over his senses. He knew Polaris could help him quiet his mind, so the usual multitude of thoughts he juggled at once were limited to whatever was necessary in his present, but Karme had never experienced silence before. One kiss, and he was barely able to think at all. His reciprocity was based purely on instinct, following the feeling Polaris spurned from being so appealing. Karme wanted him, he wanted him bad. So while he nervously nodded when Polaris told him to try his kiss again, some newly awakened part of him was ready to take charge. When he kissed Polaris, there would be no ending it. Karme would kiss him for the remainder of the show if he had his way.
When Karme pressed their lips together, it lacked any of the restraint or gentleness Polaris extended towards him. Instead, Karme went right for the deepest kiss possible, leaning into Polaris with the intent to consume him this time. Hands started on the sculptor's chest, feeling his body and the beating heart beneath, only to rise higher until he was grasping Polaris with both hands by the jaw. Polaris felt so good and tasted amber, smoke, and pure heat. Karme understood now, how his first kiss was insufficient. He wanted to consume Polaris and kissed him like he was trying to. He mirrored as best he could the way Polaris' lips moved against his, letting their tongues slide against one another as he refused to give the other an out. More of Karme's weight leaned in, he wanted to be closer, he wanted to lose himself entirely, he wanted the only thoughts in his mind to be of him. All zealousness and impatience, Karme started to make gentle moaning noises when he pulled enough air into his lungs to. Nothing mattered but this, nothing existed but this. He lost himself in the kiss until he realized his clothes were feeling a little too tight and that a heat was rising that was more than just excitement over kissing a beautiful, kind, super attractive in every way man however, Karme wasn't ready to stop. He wanted to keep going because what if there wasn't another kiss tonight? Thoughts were pouring in, he could feel himself slipping from the moment, but the deeper he kissed the closer to the edge he got until—
With a gasp, he abruptly pulled away, even accidentally shoving Polaris back a bit. Karme quickly slid in the bench to put some distance between them, still flushed but now looking in the opposite direction from where Polaris sat. Honestly, he would've run out of the box right then and there if he could, but that really didn't feel like an option for him right now. "I'm sorry!  I'm sorry! I was just…" Shaky breaths, hands fisted and shoved into his tensed-up lap, completely forgetting that they should've been minding their volume, Karme was incredibly embarrassed at his lack of control. He wanted Polaris so bad, but he never imagined kissing a guy would be enough for his body to react. Now, Karme was glad he could think again because running through equations in his head while replaying the last time grandmama scolded him was probably the only thing he could do to cool down. "You were right, you are good at that. Really good, I'm so so sorry," he says, still unable to even look at Polaris.

"Naturally," Came the confident counter to Karme's remark. Polaris knew very well how he looked, the dragon took a great deal of pride in the details. Maybe he'd acquaint Karme with his tailor, though that was a well-kept secret. "all that tinkering and you haven't invented something to wash your robes for you?" He tutted, playfully, "The parties get dull very quickly, you'd hate them, but, your presence would make them that much more interesting - if you ever wished to join me."
Karme's body felt rigid under his, different from the other day, but he focused on the present instead as he leaned in, conspiratorially to tell Karme some of his plans. The reiterated revelation furthered the spread of the emerging smile, etching at the corners of his lips. "Something tells me you won't need any help with that. But, the Keep has been putting on the same plays for decades - some are even older. Classics, but dated. My revival would be more... Current."
Polaris brought his mouth closer to the shell of Karme's ear, conspiratorially low as the witch asked after his plans. When he spoke next, his lips brushed in an idle movement against the shell of Karme's ear, his breath fell against him, low and warm.
"I want to make fools out of the Aetherian magi." For the pompous, overpowered, and impossibly strong, Polaris couldn't think of more satisfying retribution than to make the world laugh at them. Fear was a powerful tool, one that the dragon could render useless; curtailing favour to his own advantage was a skill the bard had picked up over the last decade, where he lacked Alessandra's talent for performance, he could land his own blows.
"You seem... tense." It wasn't like him to worry about how well a person was or wasn't taking care of themselves, but Karme worked himself to the bone and probably stuffed himself into this suit without further consideration. "I can get you something to eat, or drink."

Right about then, Karme was wishing he'd gotten into contact with Eldar before he showed up. The coolest of his boys would've definitely had some tips on how he could make tonight go well. On his own, Karme had no charm or lines to use. He had no idea how to "pull" and he was more than nervous about Polaris regretting asking him to the show. Then again, despite the new clothes and the attempt to do his hair up nice, he arrived at the comedy club expecting this to be a hangout.   Hearing Polaris refer to it as a date though had Karme looking at him with a bewildered yet excited expression. Once he remembered how to breathe again, he tried and failed to contain his smile, his joy bleeding through against his best efforts to remain chill. Karme had hoped, but he didn't want to assume. He also knew Polaris would throw that term around unless he meant it, so naturally his poor attempt at whispering got a little worse. "You look really nice too. I bet you get invited to fancy stuff all the time, but not me. All of my Olympian robes were greasy and I was feeling a bit worn out from constant casting and I was never good at doing laundry by hand so something new seemed like the best thing for everyone. I'm glad you like me. It. I'm glad you like it."   The tension in his shoulders when Polaris draped an arm over them was a result of his nerves, but Karme began to relax as the elvhen spoke into his ear about tonight's plans, mostly due to the calming impact his tone carried. Blushing and caught up in the closeness, it took Karme's brain a moment to catch up to what was being said to him. "You want to buy the whole club? Not just this box? Oh wow that's…" He wanted to say impressive, but once he turned his head and got stuck in Polaris' eyes, his words died on his tongue. Clearing his throat, Karme looked back out to the audience below. "I'll admit, I'm not very good with money, and some people think the things that entertain me are dumb. But I'll pay close attention and think of some feedback. I don't just make weapons or magic tools, there's all sorts of things I can do. And who knows! What if helping you helps me with my next breakthrough?" Polaris was the bard and probably knew better what kinds of things entertained people, but if he was the one asking for help Karme would give his happily. "What kinds of shows would you put on if you did by this place?"
