Mine would be in this order: 🍂🌷☀️☃️ I just finished reading WINTER by Karl Ove Knausgaard, and although actual winter happens to be my 4th preferred season, that didn’t stop me from loving this book. ☃️ WINTER is the second volume in this author’s autobiographical quartet based on the seasons. It is a beautiful collection of daily meditations and letters addressed directly to Knaugsaard’s unborn daughter. I’ve started (yet another) new painting inspired by the environment in hospitals. Over the course of my life I have had occasion to visit them many times, most notably when I was 12 years old and interned for nine days for an asthma attack. Most of the other times have been for health checkups for visa purposes. They are very fascinating spaces, the most apt word I can think of is “Purgatory”. I’ve been inspired recently by the work of Peter Doig and Edvard Munch (who inspired Doig as well). I read a fascinating exploration of Edvard Munch’s paintings by Karl Ove Knausgaard and it has really got me thinking. This painting has been challenging me. That��s great, because my sole goal every day in the studio is to push and explore a little farther. That’s all I (can realistically) ask of myself.
