There's so much beautiful scenery around the resort, we stayed on campus. Today we had little R&R day and just walked the property, which is HUGE! We had a nice lunch at the smoothie bar, and just kicked it on the deck and had a swim up the river pool. The wind is blowing hard, but the temperature is nice. Earlier in the day, we found a pond that's home to a crocodile 🐊 named Frida. I gracefully found a perfect gap in the bougainvillea to observe, then lost my footing and gashed the sclera of my eye and bottom lid on a thorn. Fortunately, I was wearing contacts, so the lens took the worst of the scrape. It sliced in half, but my vision is fine and I just have some scrapes and soreness around the eye. Frida didn't budge...cool crocodile! Can I even call it a trip to Mexico if I don't have some haphazard near-death experience? Based on my history, I don't think so. We'll be doing some horseback riding and a visit to Tulum later in the week. All is well and the weather is beautiful.
