Hof van Ittersum/Karel V Huis in Zwolle, the history of this complex of buildings goes back to at least 1383 when Roelof van Ittersum had a hall with adjoining room built. Later additions were a grand hall in 1435 and the so called Karel V Huis in 1571. @vereniginghendrickdekeyser 1 & 2 facade of the Karel V Huis. The house was named for the bust of emperor Charles V (1500-1558) that adorns the top of the gable. This facade was built in 1571, presumably in front of an older structure. It is one of the best preserved mid-sixteenth century Renaissance facades of the Netherlands. 2 & 4 details of the interior of the Karel V Huis. During the restoration of Hof van Ittersum these sixteenth century wall paintings, depicting several coats of arms, were uncovered.
