juyeon’s addition to ateez was unexpected to many. she was announced as a member once concept photos for their debut were uploaded. she was new and wasn’t apart of their pre debut activities. it took some time, but eventually juyeon was able to win over the hearts of atiny and became an admired idol in the industry.

on november 6th, 2021, it was announced that juyeon would be taking a temporary hiatus for personal reasons, causing her to miss out on promotions for ateez’s repackaged album, zero: fever epilogue. there were a lot of rumors and speculation about her hiatus, however nothing was ever confirmed by juyeon or her company. she would return to activities on january 7th, 2022, making her first appearance at the first show of the north american leg of their beginning of the end tour.

The bts timeline has been a dumpster fire what with seven and the payola allegations and the rumors of an all-english jjk1, so instead of that I'm curious about your thoughts on new jeans and their new single (sorry if you've talked about this, but I tried searching your tags and couldn't find it). Also, since you seem to listen to a lot of Kpop, who are your favorite bg and ggs outside of bts? I've personally always really liked mamamoo

Yeah, I don't know much about payola, but every song that does well on Spotify is accused of payola, right? And this is Jungkook, who joined hands with Scooter Braun and is breaking all kinds of records now. The accusations were inevitable... Also, if you're curious about my thoughts on JJK1 being all in English, I had an ask about that.

I love that you're asking me about kpop! Thank you! On New Jeans, if you look up my posts about them (I've only written 1 or maybe 2), you'll see I sort of boycott them... Maybe it's hypocritical because all labels suck, and Min Hee-jin is not the only predatory, melomaniac asshole out there, but she loves to hear herself talk more than most. And NJs are not the only groups with very young members, but very few groups have all minor members when they debut. Also, people's obsession with a bunch of teenage girls is a bit weird to me... I just don't want to listen to their music. When I had no idea who they were, I watched their Attention MV, and the sensual RnB vibes and the way those girls were filmed seemed inappropriate to me. I didn't fall in love with the song either. I've heard snippets of their other songs, because you can't escape them in kpop, and I've heard a NJs cover more than once, but I don't listen to them, sorry. Their style isn't really my style though. I like fun kpop tracks, not really chill ones for the most part.

I only listen to kpop really. I love kpop. I love that I can't understand the lyrics when they're shitty, I love how fun and playful the concepts can be, I love that there aren't as many boring breakup songs (Korean pop is a different story), I love the dancing, I love that the songs are fun and "noisy". I mostly listen to ggs. I find them the most exciting, refreshing, and also relaxing. I love girls so it's natural! (Listening to bgs isn't anti-feminist though lmao). My favorite ggs right now are Twice, IVE, and LSF in that order, but I love Twice and IVE's music a lot more than LSF's. I like Sakura a lot though. I used to love Itzy but haven't been vibing with them much lately, but they're still one of my favorites. I really like NMIXX! JYPE is my favorite company musically. I'm a bit done with Stayc right now, after the curry song thing, but I like them too. These are mostly new groups haha. I like Apink and Exid too. I like Fifty Fifty and Aespa, I listen to some KEP1ER1. When a group I know, even if by name, has a comeback, I usually listen to them. When a group debuts, I try to give them a shot too. This new group who debuted, Kiss of Life, are killing it. I also listen casually to RV (not recently though), TRI.BE, Billlie, Weeekly, Secret Number, Cherry Bullet, WJSN, Viviz, Woo!ah!, etc... I like Eunbi, Yuri, and more recently Yena, from IZ*ONE too, though they are soloists.

As for bgs... I don't listen to them a lot, but there are tons of amazing bg songs that are some of the best kpop songs (excluding BTS). I like TXT and SKZ the most, but haven't vibed with SKZ recently. I like Enhypen's tts and some Exo, I like recent Shinee. Recently, I loved PHarmony1's Jump, LUN8's Wild Heart, VAV's Designer, Treasure's Move, and even 8TURN's Excel... I listen to random songs from a lot of groups. I kinda like KARD but not some of their tts.

Exchange of Power by Tricia Owens

Warnings: Read this book with caution. There are no warnings as to the true content. The Juxtapose City series contains multiple incidents of dubious consent, murder, drug use, torture, incest, oh and the occasional light blackmail.

😵🤯😘 And we are back to wtf just happened??? There is a lot to digest from the last maybe 20% of this. Game-changing events. Moments of just why. Sex as power is nothing new to Juxtapose City but some of how it is used here is... offputting maybe. We have new antagonists with differing motives and new relationships but it is still Black and Calyx against the world. Masochistic Black is back and I'm really not sure how I feel about that. The payoff to that in a way is that we get to see Calyx, the former whore, as what is possibly the strongest ace advocate in the city. As stated sex is power so in this world it really can mean next to nothing. It is good if maybe end heavy entry, lots of arc conclusions and full stops. It feels like a hark back to the original style of the series.

I'm writing this review nearly a year after I read the book, it is going to be largely dot points. These are just things to be remembered going forward and things that I appreciated.

I want to say that this starts off in Captain Dick's head. He doesn't appear much after that. But what we do get from that time with him is incredibly important. It is an explanation of what he's been doing all this time. F***er.

The title Exchange of Power is perfect, it doesn't make sense until the end. And I promise you it will make sense at the end. And at that point, it made me so emotional.

Masochistic Black and uber-possessive Starr both appear with more frequency in this than they have for a while, Starr is a possessive creature anyway but there is a scene in this that triggers him badly. And leads to an interesting moment of character clash. In a way that is near painful to read.

This has one of Parker's visions a strong and rather terrifying one. But I'm trying to figure out the context of it given the ending of the book. It feels like it is definitely going to come back later. (Parker)

Calyx was armed with a faze whip. He wanted to wrap it around Kard's nuts and repeatedly push the button. Hell, he wanted to stand on the button. — I mean given what Kard is doing with Black I don't blame him. (Calyx)

"You're talking war." — This is a clever play, for both of them. Sundhill has done his time as the villain de jour now he gets to be a half-valuable ally. And he will make a good ally in his own way. Sundhill broke the kiss again to suck on his earlobe. "Agent Starr has his hand down his pants," he whispered. Black shuddered violently. "He likes watching us." Sundhill sounded smug. Black didn't care. The thought of Starr watching him prostitute himself to the Golden Wonder both shamed him and turned him on in the dirtiest of ways. — These two and Starr have the most messed up relationship. But there are some smart language choices here, Black referring to Sundhill as the Golden Wonder. (Sundhill and Black)

"You sure as hell didn't warn me you were going to do that! Did it slip your mind that Sundhill wasn't wearing a Bliss tab? I felt every fucking second of that man's lust for you, Darkness! I felt everything he felt when he was talking about fucking your face and ordering you around. My god, I need to scrub my brain out now because of that!" — This is Starr's reaction to the moments of the quotes before. Starr wasn't jealous so much as pissed and reacting as is only normal for someone (in particular a former sex worker who enjoyed it) who is in the middle of a sexual feedback loop. (Calyx)

"I know what you're doing," Calyx sobbed against his ear. "I won't let you do it. You're not using me to punish you. I get that you hate yourself for what you did to us, but that's where this ends. I'm not letting you turn this into something even uglier." "It already is!" — Calyx has a serious possessive streak that is on full display here and Black wants his masochistic itch scratched. This is the moment in which they both break. Black is punishing himself and using Starr and his love as a weapon. (Calyx and Black)

"If you want to hurt me, then hurt me." Black held out his wrists, tight together. "Cuff me and punish me. Make me scream and cry. Make yourself feel better. I deserve it, don't I? I've brought nothing but misery and suffering to your life. You're right. You can't trust me. Every other word out of my mouth is a lie. My name is a lie. You hate that about me so get some of your own back. I'll let you." — Black wants to be punished it's that streak again. I love how Calyx in all his glory decides to punish him. It is a moment of pure power for Calyx and something that Black needed.

It wasn't sex he wanted, but connection. Sex was poor glue for holding two people together. Having fucked a few hundred people, Calyx knew this better than most. — 😆 The former whore may just be the best ace advocate in this world. (Calyx)

They've done all but never said the words. And there is such desperation here, Jake needs Parker at this point, more than he needs oxygen. (Jake)

Rumores que era ele a pessoa misteriosa que foi vista com um grupinho de famosos e que estava envolvido em rumores de uso de drogas e outras substâncias num jantar intimo que foi fotografado por um paparazzi. Depois foi provado que era mentira essa história das drogas.

Kai é um trainee já bastante conhecido do público uma vez que ele já participou de alguns projetos como backdancer e, por esse motivo, não é raro ve-lo interagindo com seus fãs.

Desde que conhecia por gente, Joon sempre gostou da arte da dança, daquele mundo brilhante que ele via do outro lado da tv, especialmente quando a mãe solteira estava sempre assistindo os programas semanais com performances de seus idols favoritos, e incentivava o bebê de bochechinhas gordas e pertinaz tortas a fazer alguma partezinha da coreografia.

O sonho de se tornar parte daquele mundo do k-pop cresceu com ele, assim como o desejo de fazer sua mãe feliz e orgulhosa com seus feitos e, enquanto todos os meninos do colégio se inscreviam em times de esportes e artes marciais, ele estava no time de dança, sendo o único menino numa sala cheia de garotas.

Quando mais velho, Joon se tornou trainee de uma gravadora famosa, a Cube Entertainment, mas acabou desistindo temporariamente de seus sonhos por acreditar que, por melhor que fosse, ainda faltava muitas outras qualidades para que se tornasse um idol do qual sentiria orgulho. Dois anos depois e após se especializar em outros estilos de dança e música, ele tentou novamente uma chance como trainee na Cultural Media, onde se encontra até hoje como trainee e ansioso para dar o próximo passo atrás de seus sonhos.
