I talked about the Karate AU here, but essentially it’s an AU where Obi-Wan reunites with his former karate student Anakin! Here's a (very brief) snippet.

He knew how it would look, a boy sixteen years his junior, a very pretty one at that, hanging off his arm in photos under a bolded headline that read, “Mayor’s ex-husband seen around town with new boy-toy!”

But as Anakin shot him a crooked smile before lifting his shirt over his head, Obi-Wan, giving into that foreign feeling of selfishness, found himself not caring.

Au idea! How about a karate au but it's just like the ballet au? but different.

Like say Alma used to go to a school in Colombia that taught martial arts, weaponry, and some other military skills to girls. Of course, it was hidden as a girly boarding school because "girls weren't meant to fight".

Alma was top of her class and excelled in everything taught to her. the story is still the same; Pedro meets alma, they get married, have kids, Pedro passes, and the miracle is born. Over time Alma just settled on taking care of her kids and the Encanto so she just "forgot" about her training. Until Mirabel was turned five that is, she didn't have a gift...nothing to protect her.

Mirabel was a very agile kid, always seen using Casita as a parkour playground and using mops as swords to "fight" with. Not to mention whenever she fell or got knocked down, she got right back up. like Alma used to. She had that spark and Alma noticed it.

After a year or so Alma took it upon herself to make Mirabel her apprentice. But before doing so, she asked the candle to at least make her young enough to train Mirabel and a small space to train her as well.

The candle accepted both requests and yeah Mirabel became her apprentice. I'll think of more, but this is what I got for now.

And Mirabel is pretty agile, I imagine she picks it up pretty fast, much to Alma’s joy. Dunno why, but do you think she would have like. Lightning fast reflexes. So Isabela can’t throw flowers in her face, she just dodges it 😮‍💨

Good Omens Fic Rec: The Sincere Way

Aziraphale had only been attending karate class for a few months. Anathema had convinced him to try it. She was picking up an extra day a week of training in advance of her next promotion. She was already a second-degree black belt, going for her third stripe. Sensei Crowley was serious and sour. Lithe and lean and, Aziraphale had to admit, gorgeous. But not warm. Usually, he seemed vaguely irritated. Even when Aziraphale remembered the Japanese vocabulary, providing the names of the techniques when asked, Sensei Crowley’s approval felt grudgingly given.

*Minor Spoilers* This poor fic got caught in the crosshairs of my fic rec hiatus. It had just finished as a WIP and I wanted to get a rec up quickly but then life got away. Well, silver lining that means I get to reread it again!

To set the scene, in this human AU, Crowley is Aziraphale's new karate instructor. This fic gives me the perfect amount of jargon, enough to really immerse me in the world and show that it's something the author clearly has a lot of knowledge about, without becoming a karate Wikipedia entry. It makes up a large part of the story, but it is used for story building and not just info dumping. I think it was a setting that ended up working great for them! A confidence builder for both.

Anyway, as you can guess, they end up striking a friendship. The attraction is there from the start, but neither are available right now. Both of them are in age gap relationships, that add a really complex and interesting narrative to the story. The Metatron being Aziraphale's partner here gave me the biggest ick, and I mean that as a compliment to the story. It was a choice I haven't seen before, and one that worked well! Not that I enjoyed that, I hated it. Good storytelling, insufferable character. Our boys will figure it out though, they always do, and with a classic "one bed" moment as well!

I really enjoyed this! Especially the setting, I loved what learning karate did for Aziraphale. How much more confident and at home he becomes in his body. I love that the story gives him that along with Crowley. His self love and acceptance doesn't just come from a partner, it comes from himself first. The partner is an added bonus. Definitely takes a page out of the show's moment with Nina acknowledging she needed to work on herself before she could move forward with Maggie. That's what this fic let them do! Mostly safe in public, until towards the very end! It's a very light and casual read, no major angst or stress. Slight moments of hurt, but the story is always right there to pick them back up and comfort them. Keeps them going, keeps them doing their best, the sincere way.

Karate kid au

Imagine how shocked the triplets are when they see their 66-year-old (I'm talking about when Mirable was 6) mother chop a wooden board in half. Scratch that, imagine them finally knowing that their mother knows karate. How they knew that Alma throwing a chancla at them was her being merciful.

I feel like at different ages Alma taught Mirabel different things. From 6-10 she taught her karate, from 10-15 she taught her how to use guns, machetes, katanas, and how to throw knives/daggers. (I remember in your wild west au Mirabel had a deadeye, which made it better for her to shoot so incorporated it in here). 

So, in this au, Mirabel gets her deadeye from Alma. They both can shoot from anywhere, as long as they have an eye on it. Alma instantly knew Mirabel had a deadeye because the very first time she held a gun; she shot a target in the direct spot she was supposed to. And of course, Mirabel has perfect aim because she practiced so much. 

Mira’s parents were surely against Mirabel holding weapons at such a young age. But alma assured them she was in safe hands and always took safety precautions to make sure nothing went wrong. And casita makes sure that when Mirabel isn’t in the training studio, the door is locked so no one below the age of 18 can touch anything inside the training studio without Alma’s permission and supervision. 

Training studio

Ok, so the studio has a wide range of weapons starting from Guns; revolvers, colts, rifles, pistols. Swords (all originated from Japan): Katanas, Tachi’s, Aicuchi’s, Ninjato’s. Combat knives, daggers, Combat tactical knife, classic bowie, throwing knives, and of course the machete. All of these weapons are what Alma used to use in her old school and keep in her older years as well. 

Casita made these little “opponents” for Mirabel to fight to help her train better. They’re honestly just walking plush mannequins. There are a few punching bags in there too, as well as chop boards. Mirabel chopped a board in half by the time she was 12, Alma couldn’t be anymore proud because when she was 12, she did the exact same thing. 

All of the madrigals have been inside the studio but only to look at everything and watch some of Alma’s training skills. 

Also, no one in the family likes that Alma sometimes takes the training outside of the studio, like at the breakfast table. Like the woman will just throw a butter knife at Mirabel to see if she catches it, she does but it still nearly gives Julieta and Agustin heart attacks.

 

But Alma let everyone know that she can throw a knife at someone and still not directly hit them. It’s all a matter of intent. She’s a little offended that everyone thought she was that reckless towards her own granddaughter. 

Oh and because of Mirabel’s parkour knowledge, that girl bounces off the walls…literally. She rarely takes the stares in casita, nor does Alma. And outside, Mira loves to run across the roofs of people’s houses to get where she needs to. 

Once a woman came to Alma and told her she should “tame” her granddaughter a bit more because “Ladies shouldn’t behave that way”. Man did she give that woman a full earful in front of everyone. It was talked about for weeks, and after that little situation Alma made it her business to parkour across roofs too AND wear pants outdoors. 

She also lets Mirabel keep her scars too, to Alma, the scars mean she’s growing and learning like kids are supposed to. Alma had gained some scars from roughhousing with some mannequins and she’s quite proud of them.

Alma also taught Mira how to forge her own weapons, so she has many colorful weapons that she made sit in the studio such as; knives/daggers, swords, brass knuckles, and dynamite (firework kind). 

 visual differences from canon;

Mirabel has gained quite a few from just being the clutz she is and from roughhousing. She mostly has small scars on her arms, legs, and some on her face. Not to mention her clothes and herself are covered in dirt. Not like she cares. It’s the same for Alma as well. Julieta doesn’t exactly like that they keep scars because they’re both at risk for infection but Alma assures her she knows how to properly care for scars. 

Mirabel carries around her machete, just to let all her old bullies know not to f around and find out. Mira mostly wears pants because her dress has been snagged on so many things. Alma only wears pants for training but does wear them outside from time to time. 

Honestly this au has a little room for angst but let me know what you think.

Um first. Very cool, love the fighting. Uhhhhh. Guns, I don’t. Don’t give guns to little kids. If at all, I don’t even thinks guns would be a thing 🤕 but a machetes, throwing knives, maybe (imported???) swords in older ages is very cool 🌚 EVERYTHING ELSE. SO COOL. Imagine being able carry around a machete. So rad.

AND DEADEYE RAHHHH ‼️‼️‼️ also training studio. Very cool, keep it locked. Because. Sharp stuff. As for visual differences. I don’t blame Julieta 😭😭 her whole thing is healing people, and her own mother and daughter literally have refused to be healed at times. Like I’d have an existential crisis, what’s point of healing anyone if you can’t heal your own family. Like bro 😮‍💨

More king sabo au :) thinking about the changes to the sabo koala relationship…

So plot-wise, this is after the second reverie that Sabo ever attends, at the age of 22. This is also the reverie where a lot of shit goes down— the five elders kill king cobra, Vivi and Wapol go into hiding with Morgans, and the Revolutionary Army invades and successfully declares war on the Celestial Dragons, and retrieves Kuma.

In this AU, Sabo manages to befriend Vivi by talking about Luffy, and finds a way to hide and watch the confrontation between Cobra and the five elders + Imu, the way that Wapol did. But perhaps not quite as thoroughly, so he’s seen, and forced to hide, and cannot return to Goa. Unfortunately Cobra is not saved, as Sabo isn’t strong enough without his years of training as a Rev to even attempt to save Cobra. But Sabo manages to hitch a ride to Kamabakka with the Revs, most likely as a stowaway, and reveals to them as soon as they land about what he saw. Dragon agrees that it’s unsafe for him to return to Goa, and lets him stay with the Revs for the time being as he figures out what to do next.

Now during this time, Koala, soon to be promoted to Chief of Staff, meets him. But she is also incredibly angry at him, and takes it out through “friendly spars” that Sabo agrees to because he wants to get stronger. It’s through these spars that he eventually returns to being able to wield a pipe with proficiency, but the first few really are just him getting absolutely destroyed by Koala.

This all comes to a head at some point when Sabo asks why Koala always beats him down so thoroughly— so angrily— when they spar, and they end up getting into an argument over ideology during a spar. Koala asks, what reason does she have to not be angry at him? He, who became king to a country under some misguided notion that he could help people, who has been king for 5 years and yet has not been able to make any substantial changes to Goa that would help the people. What has Sabo achieved, beyond becoming one of the people that the Revolution seeks to overthrow? Did he have slaves at the castle? Did he ever try to free them?

The problem is that Sabo could have become a Revolutionary much much sooner. He could have asked, and the Revolutionary Army would have sent a small team or something to extract him—he was a strong child and he is still pretty strong, and his heart’s in the right place. But at some point Sabo fell into so many logical fallacies, that he was weak, that he was trapped, that even if he ran he would never escape his noble upbringing, that eventually he believed that the only way he could be useful was as an informant, and in the meantime, clung to and maybe even enjoyed the luxuries he could have as a young noble in Goa.

This verbal (and physical) beatdown from Koala is what eventually gets him to ask Dragon if he can become a Revolutionary. Dragon says that the Revolution has always had its arms open for him.

I was just thinking about this because of Ralphs birthday.

Cheerleader AU! Where both Daniel and Johnny end up being on the cheerteam at school. They both hate each other because they want to be “the guy” on the cheerleading team. They constantly argue in front of the team. Trying to get the same role for practice and games. It gets physical so many times that the coaches have to pull them off of each other.

Daniel always ends up walking of with Ali and Susie.

While Johnny sneers at him, throwing his duffle bag over his shoulder and walking off with the cobras.

Then one day Reader moves to town, with a big smile she comes to the football field after school looking to try out for the team. She talks with the coaches telling them she was on her last schools cheerteam. She knows the team has already had tryouts for the year but in her defense it was still the beginning school year. Doing the most she could she gives them puppy dog eyes as she asks to join the team. The coaches step away for a quick chat with each other. They admit that one of the girls from last year transferred out last minute leaving a spot open. With that being said they go back and tell Reader she's in.

She practically skips across the field to meet everyone. She's so excited to be on a new team and meet new people.

Most of the girls are really nice to her but some of them start giving her the side eye pretty quickly. They take notice of the fact that's shes a bit bigger than most of the other girls on the team. She is curvy and chubby, most of the other girls are either super athletic or on the skinny side. Mentally they question what position she is going to take on the team. Reader chats with some of the girls, hoping to get to know them a bit better.

Daniel and Johnny are on the side just watching her talk to the other girls. Both of them are taking her in. They can't help but look her figure over, she's curvy in all the right places and it catches their attention right off the bat.

Johnny can't stop himself from watching her ass bounce around with every little step she makes.

Daniel can't get over the way wide fluffy hips sway back and forth with every move.

This time instead of getting into each other's faces they stand next to each other unmoving. Johnny smirks as his eyes are trained on her Reader’s ass “ Your scrawny ass definitely can't pick her up, just give up and leave her to me.” he borderline hisses out. Daniel scoffs “Yeah well I could probably cover her better anyway, pretty boy.” Johnny grinds his teeth at the small boy's words.

Their rivalry only seems to grow now that they both have their eyes set on the new thick cheerleader on the team.
