“So… how's the risotto?” Lena asked from behind her glass of overly expensive red wine. The quiet between them felt palpable despite the hums of conversation of the restaurant around them.
“Eh, good. Good.” Kara nodded with half a smile as she shoved another spoonful in her mouth to prove her point.
It was far from convincing, and Lena knew it wasn't about the food. “Alright, why does it feel…”
“Weird?” Kara finished her sentence with a small chuckle as she swallowed her bite.
“Yeah.” Lena smiled. At least it wasn't just her that felt that way. “It wasn't like that last time.” She signed and put down her glass.
“To be fair, last time we didn’t realise it was a date,” Kara pointed out.
“Is this what we should do then? Pretend like it's not a date?” Lena asked with a hint of worry in her voice. They only just made the big step. She didn't want things to return to the way they were.
“I don't know, I kinda like holding your hand.” Kara gave Lena’s hand a small squeeze while flashing her a warm smile.
“To be fair we did that before we decided to give this whole dating thing a try.” Lena visibly relaxed, giving kara a small smile in return.
“I also don't want to stop telling you how smart and beautiful you are.” Kara continued, basking in the rosy colour that appeared on Lena’s cheeks.
“Well, you did that before too, if I remember correctly.” Lena bit her lip in an attempt to suppress her growing smile. It was amazing how fast Kara can make her relax.
“Your memory is as amazing as you are, so I doubt it could betray you now.”
“Kara Davners, are you flirting with me?” Lena raised a sharp eyebrow as she took a sip of her wine.
“Should I stop?”
“Don't you dare.”
The silence that followed wasn't awkward anymore, it was warm and calming with the joy of something new.
“Then are you from tennessee? Cause you're the only ten I see.” Kara finished with a wink and an over confident smirk.
“Oh dear lord! No.”
“You don't like that one? I have more.”
Lena chuckled. God, she loved that woman. “Just eat your risotto, darling.”
Hand in hand, Lena and Kara exited the restaurant into the cool evening breeze of the city. Kara didn’t even ask before wrapping her blazer around Lena’s shoulder who smiled gratefully in response.
“Such a gentlewoman,” Lena remarked.
“I try,” Kara shrugged and captured Lena’s hand once more with her own.
“Well, this is me.” Lena bit her lip as the couple made it to her building’s entrance.
“Shall I walk you to your door?”
“If you insist.”
“I am a gentlewoman after all.”
They greeted Bill the doorman on their way up who wished them a nice evening with a smile.
They stopped again once they reached Lena’s door.
“So, a date or not a date?” Lena asked with a small smirk.
“Date, definitely a date.”
“And why is that?”
“Because I really want to kiss you right now.”
Lena answered by cupping Kara’s face and connecting their lips. It was wild to her how much she craved it already. They only kissed once before, and it was already one of her favourite things in this world. Their tongues connected and Lena let out a small whimper as heat consumed her entire body in seconds.
“Would you like to come in?” Lena asked breathlessly while Kara moved l to kiss her neck.
“I thought it was a third date kind of thing?” Kara smirked, whispering her words into her ear.
“Would coffee and whatever in my fridge work for a third date then?” Lena bit her lip while eyeing Kara’s swallowed kissable lips.
“Yeah. Yeah, I think it would.” Kara barely nodded before crashing their lips back together.
They stumbled into Lena’s apartment deeply consumed by one another.
They never got to make that coffee.
Well, not until the morning after.

Sara Lance and the Legends: Literally one of most experienced fighters in the world and a team of highly skilled heroes with diverse powers, skills and futuristic technology
Black Lighting, Thunder and Lighting : The most experienced hero in the world and his two extremely powerful daughters
Batwoman: Has fought crime for like three weeks with mixed success at best. Has the personality and people skills of a cement mixer
Supergirl: Clearly we must have Kate’s crest on our walls and ignore the vastly more useful heroes. She is so......Kate. Did I mentioned Kate? Kate? Kate? Did we promote her enough?

Supercorp and #6?
Things you said under the stars and in the grass:
"So? What do you think of Eliza?"
Lena shifts closer to Kara in the grass, partly for warmth, mostly for comfort. Overhead the stars seem to go on forever and ever, and behind them the sound of choppy rhythm guitar drifts from the porch where Alex is clumsily picking her way through every song she knew how to play when she was in high school. Lena feels... not warm, exactly. She feels a sort of weightlessness in her chest, like if Kara's hand weren't so heavy in hers she might float away into that endless sky. Kara squeezes once, perhaps as a reassurance, perhaps as a reminder to Lena that she did ask a question.
"I like her," Lena says, and she's sure of it as she says it, though she wasn't quite so sure at dinner. "She's... intense."
Kara hums. "She's intense because she likes you. If she didn't like you, she wouldn't bother to engage."
That's something Lena can understand. She pulls Kara's hand onto her chest where she can reach it with both of her own so that she can fiddle with Kara's fingers while they gaze up into the night.
"There's one," Lena murmurs as a streak of light cuts across the sky.
Kara gasps as the meteor passes, even though she literally came from space, even though she must have seen hundreds growing up in a place like this, even though it's not even the first meteor they've seen tonight. Lena loves her all the more for it. She presses a warm kiss to her cheek and then lies there studying her face, bathed partly in moonlight and partly in the golden light filtering through the kitchen window.
"There's one," Kara says. "They're so beautiful."
"Yeah," Lena says lazily. She doesn't look up.
Kara glances over and catches her in the act. She lets out a single burst of laughter and tugs her hand away. "Lena! You're a walking cliche. You'll miss the meteor shower!"
Lena smiles slow and fond as Kara redirects her attention to the sky again. "I would choose you over every star in the sky," Lena whispers. "All the red stars and the yellow stars and the shooting stars and the dwarf stars and supernovas and the-"
Kara starts to giggle. She turns and steals a kiss from Lena's lips, lingers there a moment, drops another on the tip of her nose, flops back in the grass. "Pay attention," she stage whispers. "I don't want you to miss any good ones."
They lie there for a while, Kara fidgeting absently, restless fingers buried in the grass, Lena snuggled up against her shoulder and grateful for Kara's high school sweater as the night cools. Alex is playing Sugar, We're Going Down with moderate success, and Kelly is singing along even though neither of them knows more than half the words. The meteors streak across the sky one by one. The kitchen light turns off, and Lena hears Eliza come out onto the porch.
"You know," Kara says. "I would choose you over every star too."
Lena turns to look at her then and finds Kara looking back at her. She seems... anxious. And Lena's stomach immediately lurches, because something is wrong something is wrong something is-
Kara pushes herself up on one elbow and holds something out which Lena can only half make out. "I would choose you over anything. I've chosen you every day since the day I met you. And I- I want to always choose you, and I'm wondering." She swallows hard. "I'm wondering if you'll marry me, Lena."
And then Lena does make out what Kara is holding in her hand: a ring woven from the grass with which she'd thought Kara was mindlessly fiddling all this time. Lena's heart twists in an entirely different way. She's vaguely aware that her lips have parted, but words are not coming out, and it's as though time has frozen, as though the Davners home or perhaps all of Midvale has become a snowglobe suspended in this moment under the stars forever.
Time has clearly not frozen for Kara, because the anxiety in her face deepens, her lip trembles and the hand holding the ring falters. "I mean- Obviously I can get you a real ring, and I'll surprise you with a better proposal, it's just I can’t stop thinking about it and you're so beautiful right now and I didn't want to wai-"
Lena cuts off the rest of that sentence with her mouth. She strokes Kara's jaw, then slips her hand around the back of her neck to pull her closer even as she breaks the kiss. They linger there, nose to nose in the half darkness.
"Is that a yes?" Kara whispers.
Lena laughs softly. "Of course it's a yes."
Kara makes a big show of putting the ring on Lena's finger. She looks into Lena's eyes the whole time, solemn and reverent, and Lena tears up a little when Kara brings her hand up to kiss her there. Another star streaks overhead. Alex and Eliza break into a graceless rendition of Shut Up and Dance which Lena can hardly hear over Kelly's laughter. Kara smiles slow and warm, and she lets out a contended sigh when Lena settles against her side, head on her chest.
"There's another one," Kara whispers, but Lena isn’t looking at the stars.

Legends of Tomorrow: Who is Gwyn Davies
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This article contains DC’s Legends of Tomorrow spoilers.
Legends of Tomorrow Season 7 Episode 5
It was almost impossible for Legends of Tomorrow to follow up the spectacular 100th episode with something that matched it, and while they didn’t hit the same high, they came really close. Could they pull off three all-time classic episodes in a row? Could the best show on television put out a three episode run in season seven that eclipses the rest of the series?
Turns out no. But even a down episode for Legends of Tomorrow is a ton of fun.
With a looming midseason break in a couple of weeks, we were due for a plot mover, and that’s exactly what “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Scientist” is. But there might be something else going on here.
The big plot news of this episode is the reunification of the team, after several episodes travelling apart. Gideon, Spooner and Astra finally catch up to the rest of the gang in New York City, just in time to stop them from electrocuting themselves on the malfunctioning time platform of one Dr. Gwyn Davies, the mad scientist working for Thomas Edison (yes, that Thomas Edison) who claims a “divine purpose” to his time travel experiments. The team keeps mistaking him for a distant relative of various old crewmates – Sara thinks he’s a young Professor Stein, others think he’s a relative of Ray Palmer, one even mistook him for a Rory.
He is, of course, played by the returning Matt Ryan, who plays Davies as a neurotic mess, a pretty significant departure from his previous visit to the Waverider as John Constantine.
The team encounters Davies in their quest to find a time machine and get back to a place where the Time Bureau’s resources will let them dig into who’s hunting them. He’s got an almost fully functional time platform in his enormous NYC apartment, and they try and steal it (to then replace it in the instant it left) and get to 2021 Tahiti.
In my mind, there are three big outstanding mysteries that need to be addressed…
Who is Gwyn Davies?
These shows have done the “aren’t you familiar” bit in the past, with Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer saying that Kara Davners “looks like [his] cousin” during the Invasion crossover a few years back. While that was a nice joke referencing Routh’s turn as the big-screen Superman, the jokes about Davies, made by almost everyone on the show, feel a little bit too visible to not be pointing towards some kind of plot twist. The fact that nobody has pinned Constantine on him yet, but that people are still doing it at the end of the episode, feels like something’s still up here.
If something is up, it’s probably not the thing we all jumped to: Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer had a ton to say about Ryan’s return when we spoke with him earlier this fall.
“[Matt and I] were talking about how Constantine stories are all circular,” Klemmer says. “He’s essentially like an addict or a person with pathologies. He always imagines that he’s moving forward and despite his strength and his cleverness he’s always just ending up back where he was.”
Davies is a clean slate for Ryan and the Legends crew.
“[He] doesn’t have the canon of Constantine. He doesn’t have to put on the mantle of the tie and the trench coat. He doesn’t know how the story ends and neither do we,” says Klemmer. “He’s now on a linear story as opposed to a circular one, and yeah, it’s terrifying but it’s also thrilling because he gets to evolve.”
That freed Ryan up to stretch his legs as an actor.
“I think it’s really exciting because Constantine was so tortured but I can’t believe that Matt Ryan had to spend the better part of a decade knowing that he was never gonna find salvation as a performer. That’s a super heavy thing to do to an actor. So I’m glad for him that he’s plotting his own course.”
Who is Davies’ person?
Davies and Sara have a heart to heart in Bellevue – he’s there because Edison had him fired and institutionalized for continuing work on his time machine, and she’s there because her rushed attempt to long-term borrow Davies’ time machine broke the timestream and erased Ava and Gary.
They connect over their shared desire to find “my person,” the one they’re each wading into the timestream to save – Ava for Sara, and giant flashing question mark for Davies. The show feels like it’s deliberately tiptoeing around any clues as to who that person might be, which makes it feel very plot-relevant.
Why is Bishop protecting the timestream?
It doesn’t seem like his thing to care enough to keep replacing Hoovers and Edisons with robot versions (real Edison dies when robot Hoover explodes in front of him), but their programming is clearly from him. Is it possible there’s a third faction out there? Maybe the future Legends trying to make sure the timeline stays solid-ish and keeping them from being picked off by angry derivative villains, and their work keeps getting intercepted by Bishop?
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
While it was a plotwinder, this week’s Legends of Tomorrow wasn’t completely devoid of good character beats. We’ve got some nice moments for Nate and Totem Zari as they try and decide how to be together even though she lives in a bracelet. And the Spooner/Astra relationship has really flourished on their road trip. But, as Legends periodically does every season, all the character beats take a backseat to the plot, and the end result is a solid B episode, one that seems less enchanting because it’s surrounded by ungradable high ones.

How I wish the Kara’s grief stuff would play out
This is probably tempting bad luck, because shows never do what I actually want them to do. But this is what *I* think is interesting about Kara’s grief.
1.) Kara is an abandonment issues bunny. That is a huge part of her character. The grief and loss she feels about Krypton and her family. It makes sense that losing her boyfriend triggers that all over again.
2.) But there is one important difference. The difference is CHOICE. Kara had no choice in regards to Krypton. She has indicated before, if she had had a choice, she might have chosen to stay with her parents and died with them and all of Krypton.
But the situation with Mon-El is different. Because the new element is choice. That’s why there is this big conversation in the finale between Kara and Clark about how Kara made the hard choice that Clark couldn’t make. That’s why in the first trailer we got of season 3 what Kara talks about his her decision and how she would make it all over again.
This isn’t fate ripping something away from Kara and her being powerless. This is about how to her, she had a hand in it. She made a sacrifice, she gave something up versus she experienced a loss. And how she struggles with that. Because in superhero stories, it’s usually always much easier to sacrifice yourself than it is to sacrifice somebody else.
Now there are various flaws to this setup (from: the sacrifice was pretty unnecessary, why didn’t they just send him to Barry’s world, to how direct is Kara’s “sacrifice” really). But to me it seems that this is the frame of mind the writers wanted to set up.
Kara made a choice As a superhero. And it triggers all her other experiences with loss. And she wrestles with that.
And she should. Even if she didn’t love him. From her point of view, she sacrificed, she harmed an innocent in order to attain victory. And innocent who in addition has personal relevance to her. Choice is what makes this different than just "why do traumatic things keep happening to Kara?".
The trifecta of Kara Davners/Kara Zor-El/Supergirl is one of Supergirl’s biggest strengths as a character. And it makes only sense that this is something the writers really love playing with. Because it shouldn’t be just an easy choice of “well obviously, Kara Danvers is the “real her”, everything else is just stupid”. Because it gives more mileage, more stuff for them to explore.
This is something that gets explored with Superman too, Clark, the person who grew up among humans, Superman the icon and Kal usually representing the Kryptonian heritage that some villain or other wants him to embrace. But this question is more meaningful with Kara because she actually lived on Krypton, because she actually remembers Kryptonians. To Clark Kryptonian heritage is just a word. It means nothing to him. Kara has actually experienced it, personally, viscerally.
People always say that Superman was an immigrant story. Clark is the immigrant who has no concept of being an immigrant almost because he doesn’t know anything else. Everything he loves is here in the new world. The new world is the only normal he knows. If you put him into his old world he’d be confused.
Kara is more about divided loyalties. About being torn between two worlds. About how much you should do keep alive your heritage even though you lose contact with your old world more and more.
To me those are meaty storylines. And to me it’s unfair when people complain that they don’t want the show to explore those other sides of Kara. When to me that trifecta is Kara’s greatest strength and it makes *sense* for the show to construct situations that will push Kara more into one direction or the other. The show already explored a bit that Kara just staying on Krypton and being Kara Zor-El would be the wrong choice for her. IMO it’s pretty clear that if Kara was given the chance to be fully human and couldn’t be Supergirl anymore, that would be the wrong choice for her too and she wouldn’t be happy that way either. And now they might go into what it would be like if Kara focused on being Supergirl, more icon than real, breathing person and how that wouldn’t work and be the wrong choice for her.
Because to me Kara Danvers isn’t the answer. Kara Zor-El isn’t the answer. Supergirl isn’t the answer. It’s all three. Kara isn’t fully fleshed out without all of these aspects.
In Superman media there is always this debate, whether Superman is the disguise or Clark Kent is the disguise. Usually by annoying fanboys who insist that “but originally!!!” it was the latter, when imo with Clark, there is a much better case to be made that Clark really is the main thing. But the reason is again, because Clark grew up not knowing anything else other than living amongst humans. But with Kara it makes sense that the answer is different, more complicated, more nuanced.
Now, I don’t really expect this exploration of Kara’s grief to last that long. It would fit well with a long history of CW cliffhangers that act like they will be bringing big character changes, but it actually is wrapped up within an episode or two. But even if it lasts just an episode, to me this is an important story to tell. And this is what I hope the focus of it be:
1.) Kara’s decision/choice and how that makes this loss different than the loss of Krypton/her family
2.) Kara figuring out that Supergirl only is not the answer, but not actually figuring out a final answer, so this topic can continue to be mined in the future (imo Alex predominantly represents the “Kara Danvers”/human family aspect, while Alura predominantly represents the “Kara Zor-El”/Kryptonian heritage aspect. The fact that they recast Alura and talked about “what it means to be human” as a big theme of the season makes me hope that this aspect will continue to be explored.
Because I couldn’t disagree more with the idea that this is boring and that Kara should just pick “Kara Davners”/that Kara has already made that choice and it shouldn’t be revisited. Because to me that shouldn’t be something with a flat and clean answer.
Yeah, Kara sided against Astra and with the humans/Alex in season 1. But aliens and their various, non-Kryptonian aspects were the big topic of season 2. Kara’s alien boyfriend, the alien bar, the persecution of aliens, going to alien planets. It makes sense to now take that back again and reintegrate it with the “what does it mean to be human?” question.
Because Kara is and always should be more than one thing. Person and Icon. Alien and Human Background. Reducing her (permanently! as opposed to exploring one side and then another) to fewer of those options, wanting to actually kick out some of those aspects is chopping her up as a character.
