The happy family in THIS photograph is actually having fun hamming it up for the photographer while performing the KAPPORE DANCE. It has been described as a comic, and sometimes vulgar form of free-spirited "Street Dancing", popular during festivals, and incorporating any funny moves that were the fad of the moment.

The Meiji era was an era of Japanese history that extended from October 23, 1868, to July 30, 1912.

Barely did he finish another piece of fruit, he felt a soft nudge from Yagen ("here you go Taishou-tachi ;3") as both saniwa were handed one for themselves. His mind sort of doing this brief pause, trying to process what was going on before the music starts, startling him out of his mild fog.

And then he just let out a hearty laugh. He should've expected this too, considering it's Midare. A few lines in, and suddenly he found himself surrounded by his three escorts. And his Nagasone was, evidently, just a bit too perky.

"Master don't be mad but both our Nagasone-san thought they should have their own enkai at the back earlier." Half-heartedly apologizing, because Kashuu partly did get into the fun, what with his left hand still holding his sake.

"Nah nah, this one's way better! C'mon Master let's join in! We can even do that right here just by ourselves too!"

And Saseki instantly grabbed him, even though he was flustered AND laughing by this second at their antics. "No nonono--don't do that right in the middle of the Toushirous performing you silly Captain you...!"

Conveniently, Izuminokami just waved along with everyone else, enjoying the performance and laughing at Nagasone's little antics. "Woooo!"

Truly, the visiting sage felt thoroughly welcomed with all the lovely feast and festivities, and at the corner of his eye he could spot a teasing ray of sunshine somewhere peeking out through the sky amidst the rain. Maybe, juuuust maybe, the heavens might give this honmaru a fox wedding (sunshower).

Eventually.

"I see..." Yuichi wonders, to himself of course, how long 'quite a long time' is, but he's satisfied enough to not ask. No matter the answer, it's certain to be much longer than Yuichi has been doing it. Even though it's been a year already, sometimes it still feels like he's in his first month. He and his citadel have grown a bit since then, but still.

"Oh-- of course. And, please, stay as long as you like. If there is any business you need to attend to, I've set up a space in my office for you just in case. I don't want to keep you away from your honmaru for too long, but that's you call to make. On my end, you and your touken danshi are welcome whenever, and for however long. Besides, I think they're having fun, and--"

It's then that a high, cheerful voice rings out at the covered stage at one end of the area.

"Hello everyone!!" Midare calls, a microphone clutched in his hand. To his left stand Honebami, Atsushi, Hirano, and Gokotai, and to his right stand Namazuo, Shinano, Maeda, and Akita. "To welcome our special guests--" Midare points to Saseki, and waves excitedly. "My brothers and I have prepared a performance! Yagen, Ichi-nii, if you don't mind?"

Yuichi watches curiously as the two addressed swords stand up, and produce from boxes several glowsticks in various colors, and begin passing them out. He'd known they had been planning a performance, but he had not been allowed to see any specifics ("it's a surprise, aruji!").

"Once everyone has their glowsticks we'll begin!" Midare explains. "During our songs we will show you how to wave them, and if everyone waves them together, it'll look really pretty!"

And, indeed, once everyone has their sticks, the music starts, and the performance ensues.
