Chapter Eighteen: Gladiolus for Victory

Summary: The Host Club celebrates and solves a mystery (or two).

            “The Host Club wins!”

            (Y/N) grinned and bowed for the cameras before their friends grabbed them in a giant hug. Haruhi was winded from running but laughing, Tamaki squeezed them tightly, the twins were making faces at the Football Club, Honey was climbing up them to hug them, Mori patted their head, and Kyoya smiled softly at them. (Y/N) laughed out loud and hugged everyone back.

            Kuze lay face-down on the ground, absolutely crushed and depressed. The Host Club laughed, and the twins stuck out their tongues at him. (Y/N) chuckled and shook their head.

            Kyoya put his hand on their shoulder, and they looked at him. “Good work, (Y/N).”

            (Y/N)’s cheeks warmed. They lifted their hand and placed it on Kyoya’s. “Thank you, Kyoya.” They smiled softly.

            Kyoya’s heart beat just that much faster in his chest as he smiled in return.

            Mitsuyama ran to Kuze’s side.

            “Takeshi, are you okay?” she said worriedly.

            Haruhi frowned. “Why is Mitsuyama comforting him?” Her theory had revolved around Mitsuyama disliking Kuze.

            “She is Kuze’s fiancée, after all,” said Kyoya.

            The Host Club paused.

            “By the way, they’ve been in love with each other since childhood,” said Kyoya.

            “Huh?!” said the other hosts.

            “Kyoya, you were withholding that for your own amusement, weren’t you?” said (Y/N), looking at him. They had suspected there was more.

            Kyoya smiled “innocently” with closed eyes. “Nonsense. It was strategic.”

            “Uh-huh,” said (Y/N), shaking their head incredulously with a smile.

            “So…then I was wrong about her being behind the threatening letters?” said Haruhi.

            “Huh?” Kuze had no idea what that was about, clearly.

            “No,” said Mitsuyama standing. She bowed. “I am very sorry about what I’ve done.” Everyone’s jaws dropped open that she’d acted so seemingly callously, but Mitsuyama continued. “I knew Takeshi wanted to fight the Host Club because of his rivalry with Kyoya. But I didn’t want him to. So I tried to get the Host Club to withdraw somehow. I thought it would be painful to see Takeshi pointlessly beating himself up after losing against Kyoya yet again.” She sighed as if it was tiresome as everyone’s jaws dropped open even wider at the brutal words. “But that foolish side is what makes him cute.”

            “You were so sure I’d lose?” said Kuze, a giant irk mark on his forehead.

            Mitsuyama smiled angelically. “You did lose, didn’t you? Even after I set it to your advantage. So far you’ve challenged Kyoya and completely lost twenty-six times over. It’s about time you gave up. Besides, you seem to completely forget me when you’re at it.”

            “All-All I wanted was for you to think better of me,” said Kuze.

            “Oh, you’re mistaken,” said Mitsuyama. “I love you even if you can’t beat Kyoya. So instead of fighting Kyoya, just pay more attention to me.”

            Kuze blushed. “O-Okay. I’m sorry.” He hugged Mitsuyama, who held him close.

            The Host Club applauded. It was a touching (if odd) scene.

            “But Kyoya…You knew about it all from the get-go,” said Tamaki.

            “Fueled by threatening letters, you all were burning up with hostility towards the Football Club, which helped the race become more excited than ever,” said Kyoya. “And, we not only got the Central Salon, but we’ll be recorded in the history of Ouran. To top it off, all the families will be talking of us.” He smiled. “If we’re going to win, we might as well get the best deal out of it in the process, don’t you think?”

            “Unbelievable,” said Hikaru and Kaoru, shaking their head.

            “It still leaves the mystery of the blank letters,” said (Y/N), tilting their head.

            “I suspect they’re not blank,” said Kyoya.

            “Ah,” said (Y/N), nodding.

            “Huh?” said the others.

            “Oh. Invisible ink,” said Haruhi, nodding.

            “…Huh?” said the other hosts again.

            Haruhi rolled her eyes. “Let’s get changed, and I’ll show you.”

            “What is invisible ink?” said Tamaki excitedly once they were back in uniform.

            “It’s not visible when you write with it, but by warming it, it shows up,” said the twins. “We used it for a lot of mischief.”

            “No, it’s just orange juice,” said Haruhi.

            Hikaru and Kaoru wore identical expressions that said, “Oh, it’s the poor version, whoa.”

            “So the smell made them seem more connected,” said (Y/N), nodding.

            “Right,” said Haruhi, taking a lighter and flicking the flame on. “It’s simple. If you apple heat to the blank paper…” She waved the flame above the paper, and words began to appear.

  ��         “As I suspected,” said Kyoya.

            The paper read:

Dear Tamaki,

I hear you’re interested in the ways of the common folk, so I tried using the poor man’s invisible ink.

-Dad.

            “Just as I thought. It’s from the chairman,” said Kyoya.

            Instantly, the twins grabbed the other letters, and everyone deadpanned as the words appeared on the other pages. They were all invitations to dinner, comments about how oranges tasted, and complaints about Tamaki taking so long to write back.

            “They’re just personal letters to the Boss,” said Hikaru and Kaoru. “There’s nothing important.”

            “That-That!” Tamaki stormed out of the room.

            “Oh, dear,” said (Y/N), exchanging a look with Kyoya. They all followed quickly after Tamaki.

            They arrived to find Tamaki staring at his father. Mr. Suoh was tutting and shaking his head.

            “Indeed, you were busy looking for the perpetrator during the race, but to what end?” said Mr. Suoh. “All you did was show how incompetent you are. What was so much harder? Tamaki, you truly are…A very silly boy!” He poked Tamaki in the cheek. “Ha, ha, I tricked you.”

            (Y/N) sweat-dropped. The DNA of ridiculousness was strong in that family…Though they were glad that was all this confrontation had become. After all, Tamaki’s relationship with his family was quite strained, to put it lightly. They hoped things changed for the better.\

            At least he has us as family.

            Mr. Suoh sat down with a smile. “I received a report that the Host Club was receiving hate mail. I couldn’t help but contribute immediately. So what do you think? I made it more fun, didn’t I? I deepened the mystery?”

            “…Right,” said the Hosts.”

            “You didn’t have to make it more ‘fun!’ ” cried Tamaki. “If you want to say something, say it to me directly!”

            “You say that, Tamaki, but—” Mr. Suoh’s eyes went in alarm to another part of the room, and Tamaki followed his gaze immediately. He jumped from his chair and smiled. “Hello, you’re Haruhi Fujioka, right? I’ve heard a lot of good things about you. I’m so busy I haven’t had time to come by. How are you getting along at school? Is there anything that bothers you? Has (Y/N) been helping out?”

            Poor Tamaki sat in the corner. Mr. Suoh loved teasing his son.

            “Um…Thank you,” said Haruhi. “I’m quite used to the school now. (Y/N) has been helpful. Nothing is bothering me enough to mention.”

            “Excellent,” said Mr. Suoh. “By the way, are you interested in Webster?”

            “If you’re talking about Jean Webster, I’ve read Daddy-Long-Legs, but that’s it…” Haruhi trailed off.

            “Wonderful!” said Mr. Suoh. “(Y/N)?”

            “It’s the same with me,” said (Y/N), smiling.

            “Perfect. Miss?” said Mr. Suoh.

            “Yes, sir.” His secretary handed Haruhi and (Y/N) each a stack of stationery.

            “Here you go,” said Mr. Suoh energetically. “You see, the reason I established the scholarship was I wanted to be the ‘Daddy-Long-Legs’ to deprived but ambitious students.”

            Daddy Long Legs was a story about an orphan girl who wrote letters to her benefactor at school, and (Y/N) was really seeing the relation between Mr. Suoh and Tamaki.

            “So…you want us to write letters of appreciation?” said Haruhi, trying not to deadpan.

            “Thank you for the stationery,” said (Y/N), putting on a smile. They were amused more than anything.

            “You want to? How lovely!” said Mr. Suoh as dramatically as his son. Then, he looked more seriously at Haruhi. “I’m also quite aware of the reason why you’re hiding the fact that you’re a girl. What a horrible boy Tamaki is to do that to such a darling girl. I have ensured the rules of the school are equitable to people of all gender identities—” he gave a thumbs up to (Y/N) that they returned with a real smile “—and to put you in such a position is unforgivable!”

            “Dad!” shouted Tamaki, huffing. “Stay away from Haruhi, please. We’re busy, so excuse us! Let’s go, everyone!”

            The 43rd Ouran School Festival finally arrived, and the Host Club was completely ready. First, though, every club member worked their class’s event. (Y/N), Tamaki, and Kyoya in 2-A were working on a “Kiosks of the Common Folk” event ((Y/N) thought it was hilarious that this was a novelty to the rich folk).

            “Tamaki, (Y/N), it’s time to change and go to the Central Salon for the Host Club’s event,” said Kyoya.

            “But Haruhi and the others haven’t seen our event here yet,” pouted Tamaki.

            “Then you can stay here and be late,” said Kyoya, unconcerned. “My parents will be arriving, so I wish to be prepared.”

            “I’ll come with you so you’re not handling everything on your own,” said (Y/N), smiling.

            “You’re abandoning me?” said Tamaki, giving them the puppy eyes.

            (Y/N) and Kyoya refused to look at him and get sucked into staying with him.

            “Is my tie straight?” said Kyoya as he finished adjusting his uniform.

            (Y/N) looked at him. “Kyoya, it always is.” They knew he was doing his best to be perfect in front of his parents—particularly his parents. They smiled at him and reached up to tightened his tie. Adjusting it ever-so-slightly, (Y/N)’s hands lingered on the tie. “You’re going to do great tonight hosting this event, alright?”

            “Of course,” said Kyoya, eyes down on where (Y/N)’s hands adjusted his tie. They were standing so close…It was quite distracting.

            “I’m serious, Kyoya,” said (Y/N). “I know impressing your father means a lot to you, but this is going to go well. I know it, even if you don’t.” They smiled at him. “Trust me, alright?”

            Kyoya gazed at them as they dropped their hands from his tie. He caught their hands and held them for a moment, enjoying the warmth of their skin. “I do. I always trust you, (Y/N).”

            (Y/N)’s lips parted, and they smiled at him. “I’m glad, Kyoya.”

            Kyoya’s back was even straighter than usual, and his perfectly curated hosting smile was frozen on his face as he moved through the crowd. (Y/N) was more easygoing (the Amiable Type) than him, but even they were working overtime to ensure everyone had a wonderful experience at the Host Club’s event.

            “There they are,” said Kyoya as he spotted his mother and father.

            “You’ve got this,” whispered (Y/N), smiling at him.

            They watched him greet his parents with a handshake, and they relaxed slightly as they saw his father nodding approvingly at everything. That was good. The Host Club was an…interesting club to say the least, so being at least accepted by a parent was good. What (Y/N) did not expect was for Kyoya to gesture at them and for Mr. and Mrs. Ootori to nod. Kyoya looked at Kyoya and beckoned them to approach.

            Oh dear, I didn’t expect to meet his parents today, thought (Y/N). How does someone prepare in a moment to meet the parents of the person they loved? Still, they wouldn’t just stand back. So, with a smile far more confident than they truly felt, (Y/N) walked over.

            “Mother, Father, this is (Y/N) (L/N),” said Kyoya as they approached.

            “It’s a pleasure to meet you,” said (Y/N), bowing politely to his parents.

            “The scholarship student,” acknowledged Mr. Ootori. “I’ve heard quite a bit about you from the Chairman.”

            “I hope good things,” said (Y/N) easily, still smiling.

            “Well, your grades are quite impressive, and this club has been quite successful despite being so new,” said Mrs. Ootori, smiling. “So of course good.”

            “They are a scholarship student,” said Mr. Ootori. “If they were not intelligent, they would not be at Ouran.”

            (Y/N) assumed that was all the acknowledgement they were going to get from Kyoya’s parents. However, it was enough to know that they didn’t automatically dislike (Y/N). Did they—mostly Kyoya’s father—pretty obviously think (Y/N) was impressive mostly because they were a commoner and it was less expected for them to do well? Yes. Was it slightly condescending? Yes. Was it what (Y/N) had expected? Yes. They were used to this.

            “I strive to do my best in all things,” said (Y/N), keeping their perfect smile on their face. “I’m fortunate enough to have good friends by my side to work with, too.” They looked at Kyoya warmly. “The Host Club wouldn’t be nearly as successful without all of us working together.”

            “Indeed,” said Kyoya, smiling in return a bit more genuinely.

            Mrs. Ootori looked at her son and smiled to herself for a moment.

            “Excuse me, are you two members of the Host Club?” said another woman, walking up.

            “We are,” said (Y/N). “Is there something we can help you with?”

            “I just wanted to inquire about the competition for the Central Salon,” she said. “My daughter told me quite enthusiastically that there were a lot of competitors for the Central Salon. I hear it was rigged to favor the Athletic Clubs, so it was a great victory. Rumor has it that their strategy was planned by Kyoya. You must be quite intelligent!”

            “My son is,” said Mrs. Ootori.

            “You’re already a top student,” continued the woman. “But this required a different expertise. Well done!”

            “Oh, no, not at all,” said Kyoya. “I only supported my very talented companions. It was thanks to Tamaki’s leadership and (Y/N)’s quick-thinking that we were victorious. Unfortunately, I was not born to stand above others as a leader.”

            (Y/N) glanced at Kyoya curiously at the statement.

            “How humble you are!” exclaimed the woman. “To be honest, I was taken aback when I first heard of the Host Club. Well…it’s rather outrageous, isn’t it?”

            “In this day and age, to change people’s perceptions is also an important technique,” said Mr. Ootori. “Unless one can attract attention, it’s impossible to be understood or even recognized. I advocate meritocracy. If he has the talent, well, I don’t mind naming my third son heir to the family business.”

            “Oh, how exciting,” exclaimed the gathering crowd, nodding at the novelty of such an idea.

            (Y/N) glanced at Kyoya and saw the calculating smirk appearing on his face. Aha. They smiled. He had won again. They reached out and brushed his hand with their fingers in support. Kyoya glanced down, but (Y/N)’s hand retracted as quickly as it had extended. It didn’t matter, though. Kyoya had their support, and he knew it. Even through the rest of the day—the carriage rides, the drama with Tamaki’s grandmother, Haruhi learning of Tamaki’s mother being an affair and stuck in France, and everything else that may happen in the future—Kyoya had gotten what he wanted—the acknowledgement of his father and (Y/N)’s support.

            Now, if only he had their heart.

Might I ask for the Phantom Thief Girls with an S/O who flips a coin to make decisions? Yes, this idea came from that Rune Factory 5 post from @genshingorlsrevengeance however, I am ninety percent sure that if any more asks are added to his inbox it will collapse into a singularity and devour him. Also, I want to see your twist on it since you and him are two of my faves when it comes to character x reader writing.

Thank you for the kind words, however I am sure Chris could have done this better than I, even if he had to do so from the void after his Inbox ate him, nonetheless, I still gave it my best try and I hope you enjoy.

Ann found the coin to be… interesting.

The loud Ting when you flipped it always caught her attention.

Heads or Tails?

Black or Red?

Yes or No?

On one hand it was irritating when she lost.

On the other, the tension of making a split second decision of what to call when the coin goes up was exhilarating.

Especially when she called the right side.

The coin hung in the air for a split second as you opened your palm to catch it.

Ann’s eyes were firmly on the coin, as were yours.

It was time to make the decision.

Heads?

Tails?

What to choose?

“Heads!” Ann exclaimed excitedly.

“Tails!” you exclaimed with a grin as the coin began to fall and land in your palm.

Ann let out a cheer.

You chuckled and gave a mental apology to your wallet as you rolled the coin into the space between your fingers and then over your knuckles before tossing it to your other hand and then placing it into your pocket.

The coin landed on heads, the red side that depicted a smiling Jester's mask in gold.

“It’s decided! You’ll be taking me out to get as many sweets as I want!” Ann exclaimed with a mischievous smile.

Don’t worry, she won’t bankrupt you.

Probably.

Makoto was not a huge fan of the coin.

Sure, it added some flair to day to day life.

However, Makoto was not a big fan of leaving things to fate.

Especially when it comes to important decisions.

That said… It did help her when she was indecisive about something.

When she hesitated to act or did not know what choice to make, she would always see the glint of the coin in her vision and the sound of the Ting it made when you flipped it.

She knew what the answers were.

Heads or Tails.

Yes or No.

It forced her to make a decision.

Will she take the leap?

Or will she err on the side of caution.

No matter what side the coin landed on, she knew what her answer was.

And you know that too.

So, no matter how much she pestered you about the answer the coin gave you, you would never tell.

“Tell me.” Makoto demanded with a rather petulant whine as the two of you sat on the couch, watching TV and awaiting for Sae to return.

“Hmmm… I think not.” you said with a mockingly thoughtful face.

“Then flip the coin!” Makoto exclaimed, the outcome of the previous toss eating at her like nothing else.

You smirked before teasingly asking “I thought you disliked the coin toss?”

This earned you a solid wallop to the shoulder.

“Ow! Okay! Okay! Yeesh! I’m going to tell Sae about this domestic abuse when she gets back.” you muttered as you pulled the coin out from behind Makoto’s ear with a simple bit of sleight of hand.

“If you do, you know she’s going to side with me, right?” Makoto asked as you rolled the coin over your knuckles and into place over your thumb.

“We’ll see.” you said with a grin and then flipped the coin, sending it flying.

“Heads!” Makoto exclaimed.

“Tails!” you stated with a smile.

The coin came down and into your hand.

Makoto promptly grabbed you by the shoulders and screamed into your chest.

It landed on the black side, tails, with a frowning golden jester's mask facing up.

Futaba was sure you were cheating somehow with your tosses.

She could do the math that told her the outcome of the toss in her head with ease.

And yet, with every toss, it almost never went the way she expected.

Every time she would smugly declare her choice, confident in her answer, it would land on the opposite side.

She had no idea how you were doing it, but you HAD to be cheating.

She was tempted to try and strangle the answer out of you.

Alas, she was afflicted with the most terrible of curses.

Weak Nerd Arms.

So, she had to try different means.

Futaba turned the coin over in her hand, examining it closely at her desk while you smugly watched her doing so as you sat on her bed.

Futaba was getting irritated.

There were no imperfections on the coin, nothing that could skew the results that her math gave her.

She had even examined how you did it!

No sleight of hand, no tricks, nothing!

Futaba placed the coin atop her thumb and flipped high into the air with a solid Ting reverberating through the room, already doing the math in her head.

“Heads!” you declared with a smile.

“Tails!” Futaba exclaimed confidently.

Half a second later, Futaba threw the coin at you as fast and hard as she could.

You caught the pathetically weak lob with ease as Futaba slammed her head into her desk.

“Life Is Not Daijoubu.” Futaba muttered.

“Aww, I love you too.” you said smugly before walking over to kiss the top of her head.

Haru absolutely loved the coin.

Every second of her life had been planned out before she met you.

But now?

Things were random, left to chance.

It was exhilarating!

Why, it almost brought her as much joy as hearing the Shadows beg for mercy!

Not to mention the antics the coin could cause.

Several yes’s in a row and then a no to change it all.

The solid Ting The coin made whenever it was sent to the sky never failed to send a tingle down her spine.

Random chance leads to strange occurrences, strange occurrences leads to interesting decisions.

It was the path that following the coin always led down.

It was a truly interesting show to watch and partake in.

Especially when she was the one putting you on the back foot.

“Dear, what is a “Sadist”, the others had me take a test and it said I was one?” Haru asked rather innocently despite her, admittedly, somewhat evil intentions.

She had to fight the urge to giggle when you looked at her as if a day you had been dreading for all your life had finally arrived before turning your back to her and flipping the coin.

Your shoulders promptly slumped and you looked to the heavens, seemingly trying to ask god “Why?”.

You then turned to her, looked her dead in the eyes with the most broken expression she had ever seen and proceeded to explain what a sadist was.

This was truly the most entertaining event to ever occur from the coin yet.

Sumire was intrigued by your habit of tossing the coin.

Leaving everything to fate, hedging all your bets on a 50/50 gamble.

You and Joker would probably get along.

That and probably correct her on the actual chances being something like 51/49 or something to that effect.

Nonetheless, the Ting of the coin never failed to grab her attention.

The questions you left to the coin always ranged wildly.

From what food you were going to eat for lunch to if you were going to randomly carry Sumiere around like a bride.

Your whims were always decided by the coin and Sumiere was always excited to see what the answer would be.

“Uhh… Yoshizawa?” Ryuji asked as he peered out the window of Ren’s room.

“Yes?” Sumire answered while turning to the blonde.

“Is that your spouse down there?” the blonde asked.

Sumire flushed red before exclaiming for the thousandth time since you pulled that stunt.

“WE’RE NOT MARRIED!!!”

She had to bite the inside of her mouth to avoid adding on the “Yet” to the end of that sentence.

“Yeah, yeah whatever-” Ryuji began to say before the bell rang and the voice of The Boss rang out.

“Hey there! Yoshizawa’s upstairs with the kid and the others.”

“Thanks Boss! Would you mind going ahead and making me something to drink while I head up there?” you asked.

“No problem, the usual?” Sojiro asked.

The sound of the coin being flipped rang out.

“Dealers choice today, Boss.” you stated before the sound of someone walking up the stairs hit everyone's ears.

“Hello everyone!” you greeted before walking over to Sumiere.

You then proceed to gently place your hand on the side of her face, and kiss her on the lips.

After a few moments, you pulled away with a smile before saying “Goodbye everyone, it was nice seeing you all!” and then walking away and back down the stairs to grab and pay for your drink, leaving Sumiere blushing as red as her hair and a dazed look in her eyes.

“You’d think she’d have gotten used to them coming by just to kiss her by now.” Ann said as she flipped through her magazine.

“Yeah, then again, the coin does leave everything to chance.” Ren said before taking a sip of his coffee.

My cats been missing for three days, I've had her since I was 11 and she is REALLY important to me(shes also never been gone this long). We just got a ton of snow, im worried for her and I overheard my parents saying they think our neighbor did something to her. Reki is probably one of the best people to be around if you want your mind taken off the situation. He’s good at listening as well if you want to talk but his real talent lies in distracting you.

Having said that, he’s very adaptable so if you prefer being comforted in a different way, he can change his methods to suit you.

If you feel like talking or just need comfort, Reki gives fantastic hugs. He’ll sway gently side to side and rub your back or head.

If you want to go out and help look for your cat, he’ll tag along. That way he’s helping but is also with you for support.

Of course, he’d also take his skateboard out and skate around town looking for your missing fur friend on his own. But his first priority is making sure you’re okay.

Langa is the best listener out of everyone here. If you want to talk about what's happening or reminisce about good times with your furry friend, he's there to lend an ear.

Much like Reki, he's going to grab his skateboard and go around town trying to find any clues as to where your cat's gone. 

He'll ask around at S as well. While Reki might have some reservations about going up to a random person at S and asking if they've seen a cat around, Langa does have the same qualms.

Langa's not the best with physical touch but if you want hugs or any other form of physical comfort, he'll do his best.

All in all, he'll be a more quiet supporter in this situation. He'll do what he can to help but he's a lot more subtle than some of the others.

Oh, Miya is finding your cat and discovering every detail of what happened. He’s starting a search on every social media platform he has and is ready to take it to the news if need be.

A missing cat is no joke to someone who's favourite animals are felines so Miya is right there with you in missing your furry friend.

He's probably very attached to your cat as well so he's going to do whatever he can to get it back. If that means he has to call in some favours thanks to his standing and fame, he'll do just that.

Miya's not great with words or physical affections but if that's what you want to help you deal with the situation, he'll do his best.

If he gets to choose how to comfort you, he's going to just be in your presence. He may not be great with words or physical comfort but he's got a reasonably soothing presence.

Joe is taking you back to the restaurant, making you your favourite dish, calling Cherry so he can give you company, and setting out to search for your cat.

He’d be there in person but doing nothing while someone he cares about is hurting is hard for him, especially if he knows there are things he can do to help.

Joe will also print out missing flyers and stick them up all over town, keeping a few at the restaurant. Every customer he servs, he’ll ask if they’ve seen your furry friend (if they can give him any information, he’s offering a free dessert).

If you do particularly want his company, Joe will stay with you and make calls to a bunch of his connections from S so they can start the search.

He’s good at comforting people, especially if they want someone to talk to, either about the situation or about something else entirely. He’s a good listener and will respond at the right moments with the right words.

Cherry is the perfect combination of Joe and Miya: he's going to be hands on with helping to find your cat but he's going online as well.

He's also got more resources than Miya so he'll be sending out drones as well to scout the city in search of your cat.

He's also going to call in help from Joe. He knows that, as many connections as he has, his old friend has a lot of different connections that may also be able to help.

Because he can search remotely, Cherry will be able to spend a lot more time with you than the others.

He's very adaptable in comforting you so whether you want physical comfort, kind words, a good listener, or just someone to be with, he's got it covered.

Characters Hanayama, Yujiro (medically? He can see people's health), Baki + maybe Kureha? Hedkanon on how the reader was fine at first, but then their stomach got sick and they didn't know from what. The guys take them to Kurekha for a checkup, who was more or less free and they find out that the doctors left one of the medical instruments in the reader after the last surgery (Yujiro examines them with his eyesight, he's probably surprised? He takes the reader to Kureha).

Situation: Your S/O suffers complications after surgery / Su S/O sufre complicaciones tras una cirugía.

Characters: Baki Hanma, Kaoru Hanayama, Kureha Shinogi and Yujiro Hanma.

Baki Hanma.

He's in anguish when you start to slow down, I swear you look paler with each passing day, is it really just a tummy ache?

He can't stay calm despite your insistence that he pay you no attention, you can't even stand up on your own without doubling over in pain.

He drags you to the hospital, he had been so stubborn not to be treated in the past, but now it's different. Now it is Baki who is in the opposite place, now he is the one who suffers seeing his partner suffer, he must do something.

Kureha is quick to help them and asks for an abdominal X-ray to see what the problem is, Baki is nervous, why can't he come with you and why does he have to stay in the waiting room?

Baki is so alarmed when Kureha says that you have a surgical instrument lodged in your abdomen, apparently it's a blunt object, but being in a complex place it can't stay there any longer.

The Hanma clenches his fists when you remember even while doped on strong painkillers, mention that your doctors performed surgery on you by accident, something about your instructions getting mixed up with another patient who needed a gallbladder removal.

Baki is anxious after you enter the operating room, he is starting to get delirious, his brain has absurd thoughts that are supported by worry.

He can only breathe easy when you get out of danger, he wants to hold you close, but he holds on to let you heal properly. He is holding your hand and won't let go.

Kaoru Hanayama.

Perhaps the second fastest acting, as soon as you start having pain is when Hanayama rushes you to the hospital.

His men patrolling the entire corridor where you are taking a consultation to avoid any inconvenience, you explain to Kureha that you have had persistent pain in your lower abdomen that is increasing every day.

Since you admit that the pain is still tolerable, Kureha will simply check on you. He palpates the area, but superficially he can't say anything out of place. He indicates an X-ray to clear up doubts.

He speaks with concern when the results come back and questions if you've had any previous surgery. You say yes, it was a minor surgery that was done very quickly, in the words of your regular doctor.

Kureha explains that your doctors left a surgical tool inside your abdomen when they closed after the operation was finished and that was what was causing the pain. Before you or Kaoru can react, he reassures them, he says how it can be fixed and that it's an advantage that you came to get help as quickly as possible.

Kaoru wants the procedure done as soon as possible, he will pay whatever it takes, he might even refuse you to try to use your health insurance; he doesn't mind paying any amount of money as long as you're okay.

Your doctors will be visited by Kaoru's men, I just want to add.

Almost like Kaoru is waiting right by the door of the operating room, he wants to see you as soon as the surgery is over, he wants to make sure you're okay and out of danger.

Kureha Shinogi.

He is talking about the deterioration of the professionalism of doctors, how little interest must you have in your work and in your patient for things like that to happen? It's just ridiculous, are medical schools giving away degrees? I could be in a bad mood all day because of it.

He's complaining loudly, but he's seriously worried. He is just looking for a viable way out, but intrusive thoughts and negative scenarios assail him.

Is it really safe to open a wound that hasn't healed yet? What if it gets infected when they remove the stitches from the previous operation? It would be troublesome, but leaving the instrument there is more troublesome.

He is only hot-headed, but returns to his rational self after calming down. You'll be fine, you're in his hands and he wouldn't let anything bad happen.

The grudge he feels for his colleague, who performed the surgery on you, doesn't go away as quickly as one would hope. Kureha is professional, very professional, but he won't forget this.

He wants to be the one to handle the extraction, he just wants to make sure it's okay, and besides, he needs to get rid of that nagging little voice that tells him that others won't be able to deal with this like he can. It may seem like it's his pride talking about him, but no, it's anxiety.

He does not back down despite the refusals, and since he is the splendid doctor Kureha Shinogi, there is no other way than to allow him to assist during the operation. It's not what he wants, but he reluctantly agrees, at least he'll be around in case something happens.

In the end everything worked out, you're fine, he's fine and that little voice is gone.

Yujiro Hanma.

He may notice how lethargic you have become, slower, and more sensitive to pain in your lower belly. He doesn't mention it because he always complains to you about how "insensitive" it becomes when he tells you that you are weak for not taking pain.

Honestly, he is annoyed that a simple pain can take away your strength and mobility, he believes that you make a fuss over nothing.

He can see that something is wrong, a jagged anomaly that's in the wrong place, something that simply shouldn't be there. But he's an idiot and he's convinced that you're just a crybaby.

He complains all the way about how wasteful it is to go to the doctor, yet he is the one who is dragging you to the hospital to be treated.

"It's either this or lock you out of the house so I don't have to listen to you complain," he shrugs and replies with a frown.

He is capable of throwing you on top of the first stretcher he sees when entering the hospital, walk a few steps behind him to avoid this, he is a man of his word.

He'll probably disappear for as long as you're in the OR, though the doctors insist they felt like they were being watched all the time, like someone was pointing at their foreheads to pull the trigger at the slightest mistake.

He picks you up from the hospital, he hopes you get well soon, not good wishes.

El Hanma aprieta los puños cuando haces memoria aun al estar dopado por fuertes calmantes, mencionas que tus médicos te hicieron una cirugía por accidente, algo sobre que tus indicaciones se mezclaron con el de otro paciente que necesitaba una extracción de vesícula biliar.

Baki está ansioso después de que entras al quirófano, está empezando a delirar, su cerebro tiene pensamientos absurdos que son apoyados por la preocupación.

Solo puede respirar tranquilo cuando sales de peligro, quiere sostenerte cerca, pero se aguanta para dejar que te recuperes debidamente. Está sosteniendo tu mano y no la soltará.

Kaoru Hanayama.

Quizá el segundo que actúa más rápido, tan pronto como empiezas a tener dolor es cuando Hanayama se apresura a llevarte al hospital.

Sus hombres patrullando todo el pasillo en donde estás tomando consulta para evitar cualquier inconveniente, le explicas a Kureha que has tenido un insistente dolor en el abdomen bajo que cada día va en aumento.

Como admites que el dolor todavía es tolerable, Kureha simplemente te revisara. Él palpa el área, pero superficialmente no puede notar nada fuera de lugar. Indica una radiografía para salir de dudas.

Habla con preocupación cuando los resultados llegan y cuestiona si has tenido alguna cirugía previa. Dices que sí, era una cirugía menor que se realizó muy rápido, en palabras de tu doctor habitual.

Kureha explica que tus doctores dejaron una herramienta quirúrgica dentro de tu abdomen cuando cerraron tras finalizar la operación y eso era lo que te generaba el dolor. Antes de que Kaoru o tú puedan reaccionar, los tranquiliza, dice como puede solucionarse y que es una ventaja que hayan venido a buscar ayuda lo más rápido posible.

Kaoru quiere que el procedimiento se lleve a cabo lo antes posible, pagara lo que sea necesario, podría rechazar incluso que trates de usar tu seguro médico; no le importa pagar cualquier suma de dinero con tal de que estés bien.

Tus doctores recibirán la visita de los hombres de Kaoru, solo quiero agregar.

Quiere ser quien se ocupe de la extracción, solo quiere cerciorarse de que esté bien y, además, necesita deshacerse de esa insistente vocecita que le dice que los demás no podrán lidiar con esto como él. Puede parecer que es su orgullo hablando, pero no, es la ansiedad.

No retrocede a pesar de las negativas, y como es el espléndido doctor Kureha Shinogi, no hay de otro que permitirle asistir durante la operación. No es lo que él quiere, pero acepta a regañadientes, al menos estará cerca por si algo pasa

Al final todo salió bien, estás bien, él está bien y esa vocecita se fue.

Yujiro Hanma.

Él puede notar lo aletargado que te has vuelto, más lento y más sensible ante el dolor que experimentas en tu vientre bajo. No lo menciona porque siempre te queja de lo "insensible" que llega a ser cuando te dice que eres débil al no aguantar el dolor.

Sinceramente, le molesta que un simple dolor pueda quitarte la fuerza y la movilidad, cree que haces un escándalo por nada.

Él puede ver que algo va mal, una anomalía irregular que está en un lugar incorrecto, algo que no debería estar allí simplemente. Pero es un idiota y está convencido que solo eres un bebé llorón.

Se queja todo el camino sobre como es un desperdicio ir al doctor, sin embargo, es él quien te está arrastrando al hospital para que seas tratado.

"Es esto o dejarte fuera de casa para no tener que escucharte mientras te quejas" levanta los hombros y responde con el ceño fruncido.

Es capaz de lanzarte encima de la primera camilla que vea al entrar al hospital, camina unos pocos pasos por detrás de él para evitar esto, es un hombre de palabra.

Probablemente desaparezca durante todo el tiempo que estés en el quirófano, aunque los doctores insiste en que sentía que eran observados todo el tiempo, como si alguien estuviera apuntando a sus frentes para jalar el gatillo ante el más mínimo error.

🍝 Joe is no stranger to good looking people, there are a number of different people, men and women that throw themselves at him but he had never found someone that he wanted to throw himself at. 🍝 At first he thought that it would pass, that it was just seeing something new but the more that he saw you around the more that he wanted to have you all to himself. 🍝 Now honestly despite the clear jealousy that he showed towards those that showed an interest in you, he never thought the same might be true for you given the attention that he was given, you might need to use your fans to your advantage. 🍝 Joe would often poke at your dimples when he was teasing under your eyes when he was reassuring you.

You had been helping Joe out in the restaurant the past couple of weeks, it had somehow become busier and he needed all the help that he could get. It seemed that you tending to the tables seemed to attract a different kind of crowd, more men taking an interest in the establishment then before.

There were two problems arising from this, the first being some female client refusing your service since we all know that you weren’t what they had come here for and the second being that the male clientele were far too flirty and definitely weren’t there for the food. At first he didn’t mind too much but when it became a common occurrence and now he was standing watching you interact and sell his menu like a pro while avoiding their advances. “Are you going to just stand there and glare, you gorilla?” Kaoru asked. “What are you talking about?” Joe asked as his eyebrow ticked, his attention drawn from you for a second to look at his friend. “Well it’s clear that they bother you.” Kaoru said calmly, “I’d much rather enjoy my meal without your grunting.” “What did you say!?” He asked, his outburst caused you to look over at him and giggled, you excused yourself from the table making your way towards him. “Is everything okay?” You asked. “Just fine dear.” Kaoru answered “just asking how you put up with this beast constantly.” “Kaoru…” Joe warned as you shook your head. “He’s fine just the way that he is.” You answered tapping his chest as you walked towards the bar getting the drinks that the men had ordered. “I’ll take those.” Joe said softly as he moved past you poking softly at the dimples forming from your smile. “Stop that!” You scolded him, as you waved away his hand, he smirked as he leaned down pressing a kiss to your cheek. “What are you doing?” “Nothing.” He answered but you could see his eyes on the table you had just walked away from. “Do not ruin your business over me.” You scolded him “I can handle them.” “You don’t need to handle them, in fact I’ll handle them and don’t worry about the business Kaoru brings enough to keep this place a float.” He pressed another kiss to your forehead before heading over to the table. “Gorilla.” Kaoru muttered, pressing the heel of his hands to his forehead as you giggled. “Sorry Kaoru.” You muttered. “It’s not your fault, trust me, he’s been like this for years, you are the first woman to bring it out of him though.” Kaoru explained as you both watched him put on a smile and serve the table.

Kaoru Sakurayashiki/Cherry

🌸 Cherry appreciated your beauty, everything from your dimples to your eyes and anything else that he noticed along the way, he wasn’t always good at saying these things out loud. 🌸 Carla would often be the one to compliment you, it would always make his eyebrow twitch, not to mention Joe getting under his skin by throwing you a few compliments. 🌸 You and Cherry honestly were the perfect couple doth in looks and interaction, it didn’t take long for you both to be living together and sharing your lives. 🌸 Cherry didn’t often get jealous of other people, in fact given his general vibe people very rarely approached you. All your antics came from inside your relationship.

You had been cleaning around the house while you waited for Kaoru to come home, you had been milling around the room. Since Langa had beaten Adam at Sk8, Cherry had been going through old pictures from school, you hadn’t noticed before but as you looked closer at the pictures he had left out you saw the piercing in his eyebrow and lip. “What are you doing?” Cherry asked as he walked over to where you were, you hadn’t paid attention, you didn’t hear him come in. “Just looking at your old pictures.” You answered honestly. “Oh those are not my best days.” He answered as he looked over your shoulder, you frowned. “What do you mean, I think you look very good in these, you know if I had known you then I still would have dated you.” You explained. “I’m sure.” He mumbled, you looked at him for a second before pulling him to the bed and prompting him to sit down. You settled in front of him pulling out your phone, you scrolled through an old album that had been saved to the cloud before showing him the phone screen. He looked down at the picture where you were smiling, full eyes closed, smiling, you looked happy. “Beautiful.” “Really?” You asked. “Of course.” He answered. “Even without the dimples?” You asked. “Huh?” He asked as he looked at the photo again, sure enough the dimples that now adorned your cheeks weren’t there. “I didn’t even notice.” “Mmm.” You hummed “now will you believe me when I say the same about you?” “That you didn’t notice?” He asked with a raised eyebrow, you narrowed your eyes before turning so that you were straddling his thighs. “That you were beautiful even despite the change.” You corrected “besides…” You leaned forward biting softly at his lip and pulling “it would have given me something to hold on to.” You hopped off the bed and headed out of the room. Kaoru watched you go, his face red as he looked down at the photo. Maybe putting in a ring for you every now and again wouldn’t be so bad. It’s the least he could do for you, giving him those stunning eyes and beautiful dimples.

Ainosuke Shindo/Adam

❤ He had nothing to worry about the moment that he started to pursue you, his standing in both the skating and business world meant that no one ever tried to challenge him. ❤ Adam honestly has very stunning eyes himself, you were both the talk of the town the moment that you started dating, the perfect couple according to the press and most of his business partner’s wives. ❤ Adam made a point of complimenting you and keeping you close at business parties and outings. ❤ You’d often go and watch him skate, he gave you a mask after the first time so that he’d be able to come over and scare off anyone who got too close to you without giving away either of your identity.

You were leaning against the wall watching Adam in his match against someone you hadn’t bothered to remember the name of, your attention was pulled from the screen when someone approached you “Woah! You're so cool, are you a skater!?” The kid asked, you raised an eyebrow, you recognised the second boy, the one that people were dubbing Snow. The one that had beat Adam before you started dating. “I don’t skate here.” You answered with a small smile. “Your eyes.” The kid, Snow said as he looked at them. “Pretty striking right?” You asked. “Pretty is one way to describe them.” You recognised that voice as Joe, one of the other skates and a childhood friend of Adam’s. “Is there something that I can help you all with?” You asked. “I just wanted to know how my friend was doing, I don’t know what these idiots are doing here.” Joe answered and you raised an eyebrow, eye catching Adam skating over the finish line first, his eyes easily finding yours in the crowd as he winked. “We were just trying to figure out if they were a skater.” The red haired kid defended himself and you shook your head stepping back away from the conversation and straight into someone's chest. “Now what’s going on here?” Adam’s voice said softly as he leaned down, his words sounding like they were spoken directly into your ear. “Just chatting.” You answered. “W-what!? Adam?” The Red haired kid asked. “You know them?” You asked. “Well you know I know these two…” He pointed to Joe and Snow. “This one I know in passing.” He pointed at the red head. “Huh.” You grunted.

Joe, Langa and Reiki looked at you, honestly now that you were standing with Adam, you were far more intimidating. The way that you both slotted into what seemed to be familiar roles, something practiced and comfortable, his chin resting on your shoulder and he talked directly to you and no one else, they couldn’t even hear what he was saying over the noise around them. Both your eyes glowing in the light as you looked down at them, they had to admit that you had a slightly softer look then Adam did but you were both still a formidable pair and Joe wondered how any business partners ever held your gaze long enough to make a deal.

“Are you ready to go?” You asked. “I think so.” He answered with a kiss to your cheek, he turned you towards the car as he waved over his shoulder. “Nice to meet you all!” You called as you left.

“Woah… That is what you call a power couple.” Reiki said as you both disappeared into the crowd. “Best to stay on their good side huh?” Joe asked. “Langa already beat Adam.” Reiki reminded him. “I don’t think either of them hold it against you.” Joe said as he turned away “just try not to give them a reason to hold anything else against you, either of you.”

rei sakuma... a plague living in your mind. how can you avoid that outstanding creature when he's everywhere or at least that was what you can spot the last few days.

you were running some grocery errands late last night. who did you bump into? rei sakuma. he, too, was doing some late night shopping. he said its better for him to do it at night as he's more active, therefore strong enough to carry his grocery and offer that he could carry yours as well. you scoff and rejected the offer and bid farewell, leaving the vampire alone.

you were having lunch with kaoru the other day. did rei pop out again? yes, he did. he joked about how kaoru was "cheating on him" and how kaoru was "stolen" by you! kaoru could only laugh bitterly at his friend and apologise to you for your sudden change of mood. you were glaring, clearly pissed off at the ruby eyed man. you just wanted to share some company with the blonde, seeing as he was alone in the cafeteria. he seemed to enjoy your company, striking a conversation with you until rei came. you excused yourself shortly after rei sat and starting yapping your ear off about stealing kaoru.

this was the last straw! you bumped into rei along the corridors. falling from the impact as he offers a hand.

" no stop, " you push his hand away.

" what? " he questions.

" why are you following me around, stalker? " you brush yourself up as he stares bewildered.

" oh, " he softly chuckles.

" coincidence? " you pout at his words. you can't believe him. he smiles at your reaction.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Dojima

Not that much of a hugger. He's pretty protective of his family and those close to him, so I can see him pulling his S/O into a hug now and then but that's about it.

His hugs are gentle but firm. He doesn't want to end up hurting you with his hugs, but you can feel the strength behind them because he wants you to know he'll protect you.

Iwai

Iwai is definitely not one for physical affection. He prefers using words and actions over touching. He doesn't hate being given hugs, but it's not his thing. If he sees that his S/O could really use the comfort, then sure he'll give a hug but that's about it.

Also has some strength to his hugs, but usually pulls his S/O in with one arm and pressing them to his chest. It's honestly a rather nice hug, too bad he doesn't do it often.

Maruki

Oh Maruki loves hugs! They're such a great way to bring someone's mood up and sometimes, all people need is a hug. So he's happy to hug and cuddle with you every day, if you like.

He is so gentle when giving a hug and he always mixes it with sweet compliments too and words of how much he loves you. Maruki just wants to give you all the loving you could need.

Dojima

It would've been before he realized he was falling in love again. He took you to his house so you could relax a bit after work with him. Nanako was there and he just watched as you and Nanako got along so easily. That was probably the start of him realizing "Oh, I love them."

Iwai

While it didn't start off great, a favorite moment is when you came to his shop to talk to him. One of the assholes from the yakuza tried talking to him and he quickly dismissed them because you were there. You recognized Iwai's annoyance and the tension he felt and were quick to give him a smile and offer support. That definitely is one of his favorite moments.

Maruki

His favorite moment would be when he tells you the truth of his fiance and what he's gone through. It was hard to talk about, but he knew that if he wanted this relationship with you that he'll have to rely on someone for once. And he ended up feeling so happier and so much better after getting all those built up emotions out.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)

Dojima

If he had the time, he would like to be able to cook a meal for you and Nanako. Dojima enjoys the idea of doing something domestic like cooking for his family and would happily do it. He's not the best cook, but he can make something tasty.

Iwai

Keeps a locket that has Kaoru's picture on one side and his S/O's picture on the other. It's hidden so others can't easily see it and so the chain doesn't catch on anything and break. But he keeps his two most important people there. (His wallet has photos of you, Kaoru, and Akira stashed behind his ID).

Maruki

Maruki has tried to have a couple plants growing around his house at times. He asked Haru for advice so they can grow and be pretty. While he does have some allergies, he likes the idea that flowers he grows can be given to you rather than buying expensive bouquets all the time.

Also, his students might enjoy seeing plants in his office as it'd feel more homey.

Y - Yearning (how do they cope when they are missing you? are they alright with being without you for an extended period of time or would they prefer to be with you every day of their life without exception?)

Dojima

He tries to be more there for Nanako when you have to be gone for a bit. His own job keeps him away from home and you quite often so when you're the one that has to leave for an extended period of time, he tries to be better with being around others. It also gives him a bit of a taste of his own medicine as he does miss you and wish you were with him.

Dojima does miss you quite a bit and he makes sure to call you and talk to you about how things are going. While he would prefer to have you with him every day, he knows that he can't force you to do that and so for now, he'll just plan a nice family date for when you get back and ask you to stay safe.

Iwai

Iwai definitely understands having to be gone for a while due to business or other reasons. This is one of the few times where he'll hold you close and give you a long kiss before you go. Honestly he's able to keep his mind off of you being gone with work and having Akira help out more in the shop. But he does have some tells that he does miss you.

He's alright while you're gone, but it does feel like there's something missing in his day to day life due to your abscence. Iwai doesn't want to bug you when you get back though. You're your own person and he's not going to tell you not to do that again. He just hopes you don't end up leaving for that long anytime soon.

Maruki

He just focuses on his job when he misses you. He can't be down in the dumps when he needs to help these high school kids deal with way too much trauma than they deserve at their age.

Maruki would prefer to have you with him every day of his life. He just loves you so much and feels incomplete without you. Even if you're gone on a business meeting or something, he still misses you despite keeping a smile on his face.
