to the anon who asked which were my favorites, for the 2022 aus, its really hard to pick, I absolutely adored writing my Twisted Fairytales Bridgerton au and one of these days a will totally write a full fic about it, but also the Star Wars au and the Mafia au were so much fun!! I loved writing those. The reincarnation verse was also so good, and arghh I should have expanded on the Criminal minds au.

Long Story short, it's really hard to pick which was my favorite au to write in 2022, but the ones I listed above always make me grin like a maniac, even when I'm busy and sleep deprived.

The last installment of The Reluctant Male Bridgerton Re-watch.

We sat down and binged the last 3 episodes as he was busy on Thursday evening and leaving on Friday morning. So here's the recap until season 3 (in no particular order)

1) "these two have the best chemistry. Much better than the first couple. But i think cuz one doesn't look so young. I have no idea how anyone will beat them." Kanthony for the win!

2) "they tease each other like brothers, they did great casting." A/B/C

3) "ooh, someone is scheming the other one. Is he playing her or is she playing him?" Lord Featherington and Portia

4) "I think Edwina has the right to be pissed. But how are they gonna fix it so those two can marry?"

5) "uhh, Eloise keeps going back to this guy. Remember when I thought it was gonna be the Footman? Oops, got that one wrong!"

6) "so Colin is starting to like Penelope now heh? it's good to see that cuz he was so hung up on the other one, I couldn't figure how he was gonna start liking Penelope but I can sort of see it happening now." Said after the cake-purpose scene. But he unfortunately changes his tune at the end of the episode.

7) "the acting is much better this season. Like everyone is good. I think the Bridgerton mom is really good. And the Queen is good too."

8) "I predict Portia kills Lord Featherington during the ball." Haha! What a scandal that would have been!

9) "I like that there are so many unresolved storylines going into season 3. Like the art guy and Penelope and Eloise. Like it's not just gonna be about a couple, other things are happening. Season 2 was better than season 1 for that too."

10) "not gonna lie, I like this over Pride and Prejudice. It has funny moments and more drama. I'm not as bored. I'll watch season 3 when it comes out." So another Bridgerton fan was made in less than a month, nice!

11) "I like that those two fought. Like it made them interesting, but I think they'll make up, before Colin and Penelope at least." Gosh, I really hope Peneloise are back in season 3.

12) "ouch, she's had a rough night. I thought he was supposed to be kind to Penelope? But I guess that's the way guys are, all talk and everything is for laughs. But the way he says it, I mean, damn!" He actually read the scene as Colin making fun of Pen. I wont post what he actually said cuz I vehemently disagreed that THAT is how the show meant for Colin to perceive Penelope. And I was a bit shocked he viewed it that way. Anyway, he thinks Penelope shouldn't forgive and move on. I spoiled him about the books and showed him the Season 3 pics in hopes to turn the tide. It's interesting to note that his view of Colin hasn't been overly favorable whereas I think Colin is a great character. More impassioned and impulsive than the books but overly a good guy. His views on Penelope aren't as clear. He loves her reactions mostly. Although he says she's a better character in season 2 over season 1.

13) "geez, this show sure likes to show the guys going downtown on the ladies. Its like the Bridgerton sex trademark!" OMG, 🤣

14) "Okay, is everyone just watching these two make out? The moms are right there!" Epilogue, haha

So that's it. It's been a lot of fun watching through the eyes of a non-Bridgerton fan. Kept me more honest. Both Colin and Penelope are not perfect, but I can't wait to see them grow and develop as individual characters and as a couple. Season 3 cannot come soon enough.

I also don’t like Johnb but don’t hate him anymore like o use to bc he stopped pope from going after JJ when jj needed it the most no I lied I hate johnb why would he do that and the s1 friendship stuff how he wasn’t great friend to pope and jj but I’ll let that one slide bc he was going through a lot and I forget he’s just a teen too who was grieving his dad!

If kie kiara Carrera has no haters I’m dea*th actually the way she treats/ed pope is why I sleep at night knowing she could’ve dro*wned if it wasn’t for him he should’ve but it’s pope amazing beautiful cute smart kindhearted pretty boy he would never hee to good for them not jj/Cleo I mean he technically to Sarah/jb tbh

Gonna rewatch all the season and make a long thread on what a horrible character and person kie truly is but people aren’t ready for it because they use her for their little self insert to be with their yt boy fav why they ship her with a new one each season first it was jj now rafe the grown psychopath they think is hot and now want kie to be with kie who’s 16 and he’s 19 or 20 all bc she’s their selfinsert the girl they use to project on to be with I can fix him he’s only good to for me brainrot has them In chokehold about crazy rafe or drew and jj/rduy😂😂

Hello. Just curious how chapter 3 of Dowry is coming along and when to look for it. I’ve been really sad about recent Kanthony news (possibly no s3 subplot, no Emmy noms for Jimone) and need my comfort fic more than ever lol :(

i'm sorry you're feeling down about kanthony!

this may not be what you want to hear, but bridgerton isn't exactly the type of content emmy voters look for when nominating their favorite shows. it's frilly froth meant to entertain, nothing more, and this season's story was frankly an incoherent mess saved solely by the chemistry and performances of the two leads. in my humble opinion, it was really engaging, but it wasn't good television, at least not in the classical sense.

now, personally, i think JB did a fantastic job and deserved a nod, but it was a stacked board this season. i mean, succession won 7/12 nominations allotted for guest actors in drama series and a total of 25 nominations overall. that's insane (well, well-deserved, it's a beast of a show, but still). they clearly have their preferences.

but here's the thing: emmy nominations are not the final arbiters of taste. these guys nominated TBBT for YEARS (a show whose writers routinely relied on casual misogyny and jim parsons rattling off the periodic table for laughs) and paid dust to brooklyn 99, bojack horseman, the wire, the office, freaks and geeks (OK, it only ran for a season, but it was a brilliant fucking season, alright?), etc, etc.

so don't feel guilty for liking something because it's not as "highbrow" or critically acclaimed as shows touted in variety or the a.v. club. bridgerton's failure to garner many nominations is nothing but a reflection of the fact that emmy voters simply didn't like the show enough to nominate it. that's it. but for the general audience, season 2 was of major interest! we can see that looking at netflix's streaming stats. in sum, the show is not in danger of being canceled, we will still see bits and bobs of kanthony in the future (even if JB books new shows, as he should), and your favorite actors will go on to have great careers in which you'll have plentiful opportunity to see them on the screen to your heart's content. not having emmy noms is not a big deal, especially for show of bridgerton's caliber and appeal.

and, another, very, very humble opinion of mine:

in my experience, if a show is visually and technically perfect, i won't be motivated to write for it. because the story is finished. it was emotionally satisfying, it was done well. i'm the breed of writer who writes out of rage, who views fanfic as the ultimate 'fuck you' letter to the production of a show that has lost its way. i did not like season 2 - it had some great elements, but overall, the story for me felt unfinished. that's why i'm in the fandom, to read and write about kanthony getting the ending and character development they deserve. a lot of these highbrow shows that have been nominated will more often than not have a different type of fandom, one where fans are more likely to engage in iterative activities (what was your favorite episode, rank your favorite characters, etc.) as compared to transformative activities (as in rage-writing fix-it fanfiction). in my view, season 2's terrible creative decisions did result in a lot of fan engagement with kanthony as a ship. the lack of good content and desire for more is what prompts creators to create. that's a good thing!

imo, we've got a fantastic fictional couple, amazing fans, brilliant writers in the fandom, and enough spite to keep us churning out content for YEARS. so don't worry yet about the kanthony well drying up. we're doing just fine.

same for ao3, but blocking only means they're not allowed to comment on your fic and you on theirs, otherwise their works show up. i blocked a couple of authors in the kathony tag lol, like one of them had the most bizzare out of character fic that's not even like, a different interpretation, it's that 'what show have you been watching???' meme. like at one point I have to wonder what about these characters did they even like when what they wrote is so different from everything we know about kate and anthony, books or show, that beyond names and basic family structures, there's barely any similarity. I get some people hate edwina, but I genuinely don't understand how they can claim they love kate and think she'd be that horrible to mary and edwina. someone is projecting a bit too much...

i have a very strong suspicion which fic authors you are talking about.....

but seriously. i can understand disliking a character, not vibing with them and all that (i'm looking at you eloise bridgerton), but the absolute HATRED over what? three lines that were written into and said during an ARGUMENT after a CRAZY betrayal? is batshit fucking crazy to me. and i totally agree - i am of the mind that you can't violently hate edwina or mary and claim to be a kate stan. mainly because her love of her sister and her step-mother is so intrinsic to her character that you're ultimately denying a HUGE part of who she is (the same can be said for those people who think anthony would shun edwina or mary or would cut his own family off for the so called 'slights' that they've committed against anthony and like good god is that whole thought process an annoying one!)

i know there's always going to be the person who's like 'well i like the book version of edwina! i don't hate the character! just the show!' and like. that's a flimsy argument as far as i'm concerned especially cause edwina is such a non-factor throughout both mediums. she literally is there to do nothing, be pretty, and to cause weightless drama between kate and anthony. i say it's weightless because we all know that edwina is not going to be the thing that keeps them apart. we know that the show is going to give us kanthony HEA.

seriously the need for people to find a villain in the story (when sorry not sorry but pen/LW is RIGHT THERE) is kind of ridiculous. not every story has a bad guy. sometimes it's just a bunch of people muddling through life making mistakes and trying to fix them...you know kind of like how life works? crazy, i know.

its all just very very very very exhausting.

No but hear me out, Kanthony in India could be quite the story.

Anthony Bridgerton in a kurta! Him seeing Kate in a saree or lehenga because lets face it, the man will lose whatever braincells he had left and simply disintegrate.

The only problem with the writers trying to send Kanthony away to India is the timing of it. Edwina is already married and Kate is with child. After the trauma of Hyacinth’s birth, nothing on earth can convince me that Anthony Bridgerton would willingly let his wife take a hazardous six month journey back to India. Tha just doesn’t make sense.

Another thing that does not make sense woth the timeline is that, if Edwina made a match in India, it must have been while Kate and Anthony were on their honeymoon and I’m sorry but how on earth do you expect me to believe that Kate would miss her little sister’s wedding?

It is all tempting me to write again, something like a fix it where Kate and Anthony embark on a journey to India, because Edwina is supposed to get married, maybe to someone from the maharaja’s court because why not?

Kate leaves for India, but with her endearing, besotted husband who worships the grounds she walks on. They come to India and they do all the things that we are craving to see on screen (Anthony in Kurta? Another sneaky, playful haldi ceremony in the privacy of their rooms? Another mehendi ceremony because ofcourse Kate will have Anthony’s name sneakily written on her hands in hindi? Vexing one another? Potentially some old suitors of Kate, just to make Anthony sweat? Her taking him to all the spots of her childhood, just the way he did in Aubrey hall? Babymaking? Recieving the happy news firsthand?)

Anyway this list will never end. I dont know if we would get a spin off or not, but I might just get around to writing this.
