Star Wars Interloper- Kanta Cym
And so starts the new overhaul of Interloper lore! I’ll be making new drawings of the existing cast and potentially edits to their background stories but we start with it’s new protagonist, former Jedi turned darkside anthropologist Kanta Cym, backstory below~
Following the Battle of Belsavis during the final year of the Clone Wars, Kanta found herself distracted by the activation of the facilities prototype weapon amidst her duel with Separatist Acolyte Nyss Mir. Vengeful for the death of her close friend Master Umo, Nyss barely hesitated to cleave her saber across the Jedi’s back felling Kanta instantly. As Nyss began to evacuate the collapsing base the dying Kanta channeled her excruciating pain into a last ditch effort to survive and attempted a dark side technique of transferring ones essence in the force to another host, she only partially succeeded. Joining her spirit with her very killer Nyss Mir and revealing herself months after her death after multiple failed attempts to fully hijack the Jedi’s body. Little more than a voice in her head, Nyss was less than enthused to have her mentor’s murderer residing in her mind and after considerable debate she agreed to assist Cym in exiting her body. Directing her along the way, Kanta had Nyss collect multiple artifacts from her private keep selling them for a small fortune and scraping every possible inch of her home for viable DNA samples before they departed to the cloners of Kamino with a most difficult, if not impossible task: Create a force sensitive clone. It would be many years, the fall of the Republic and rise of the Empire, and numerous clones before the Kaminoans produced one with a slightly higher than average midichlorian count which both the aggravated Nyss and growingly frustrated Cym mutually agreed was good enough. And so Cym used Nyss’ body as a vessel to once more transfer herself this time into the familiar Feeorin form she hadn’t known for sometime and had to relearn much of her basic functions lost in the ethereal realm of the force.
Wanting to return to a peaceful life Nyss left almost as soon as Kanta’s spirit was removed from her person never wanting to see her again. From this point Kanta remained on Kamino for a period as she adapted to her new body yet whatever physical difficulties there were, they were grossly overshadowed by the hollowness of the force’s absence. For someone as infatuated and intrigued by the force and it’s traditions, to lose such a connection was deeply depressing and the most she could muster was meager heightened senses which even that she questioned whether or not was from the meager midichlorian count or simply her time during the Clone Wars and training. When she did finally return to the galaxy she found it foreign and oppressive and thus, she felt curiously free. Without the order to monitor her research Kanta was now free to pursue her fascination with the Sith species of old without limit and cared remarkably little for the new Empire ruling the galaxy. However, she had sold much of her artifacts and lost her lightsaber at Belsavis on top of pouring all of her funds into her new clone form. Destitute but unavailed she returned home and convened with her most prized artifact who she hoped would guide her forward: The holocron of Darth Nihilus. Originally but a proud piece of her historical collection, now largely absent of her connection to the force Kanta decided to commune with the holocron hoping the unusual and immensely powerful and leech like nature of Nihilus’ force abilities may hold the key to reestablishing her ties to the force...
The eldritch Sith and his unnatural tongue were less than caring in her endeavour yet seeking to regain his own legacy and the force tied to it, he sent her off into the galaxy to collect his most powerful artifact in his old red marked mask. Through treks through space and confrontations with pirates Kanta was able to procure the mask and has since spent her time under Nihilus’ instruction with his mask granting her the connection to the force she seeks albeit with detrimental side affects of draining her whenever she dons it. The remnants of the Lord of Hunger still strong in the artifact he once bound his very essence too, Kanta must tread carefully between her less than formal study under Nihilus and usage of his literally lethal mask on top of simply maneuvering a galaxy often hostile and ready to take advantage of the ordinary person she now is in this new era. It’s only in the Corporate Sector while attempting to find some modicum of income does the force inextricably bring her into contact with renegade Jedi survivors none too keen to let her darker presence in the force elude them, a sudden conflict that strains her survivalist abilities and is made even more complicated with the involvement of a Harch bounty hunter and the Empire itself.

Ghosts of the Separatists- Kanta Cym
Finally got around to drawing this lass, backstory below~
An eccentric Feeorin Jedi knight, Kanta Cym is an ever studious member of the order who specializes in archaeological expeditions and research of ancient force users. While not the strongest combatant, dependent largely on her long range lightsaber pike, she possesses a strong connection to the force and what time not spent researching ancient history is used to train her abilities and senses in the force. While Kanta’s fascination with the Jedi and Sith of old first started when she was a youngling, her studies became increasingly more focused on dark side history as she grew older and became more reclusive and absorbed in the archives rather than bond with her fellow learners or strive to become a padawan and continue her training. Her consistent and ceaseless search for knowledge on the Sith, both as a species and an order, along with their culture, customs, and practices with the force greatly disturbed many of the senior Jedi in the halls of the temple leading to the decision to bar her from a multitude files within the archives and madame Jocasta herself would often kick her out when the young woman would repeatedly request specific data.
Undeterred, Kanta began to refocus on more traditional Jedi training so that she could open the door to undertaking research expeditions. Under the guise of walking the path of the ancient Jedi the council approved and so she sought knowledge of the original Sith directly from those that fought them. Her meticulous collecting of information and relics from planets such as Ossus and Tython gave her some of the knowledge she desired. She studied these artifacts over countless times in her attempts to scrape up as much information on Korriban and it’s crimson skinned inhabitants as possible and as a precautionary measure she began storing her collection in her own private hideout on Taris. In her privacy Kanta began to practice the darker side of the force out of her own curiosity for the taboo the Jedi had put on it along with her deep obsession on the Sith force powers. Already highly proficient with, and even unbalanced in, the force she took to these dark side methods with ease and while the order remains ignorant of the extent of her fixation, rumours continue to swirl about the ominous aura oppressively present whenever she’s in the room.
With the outbreak of the Clone Wars Kanta has taken to observing her battle hardened compatriots using her enhanced senses to begin listing those she believes may fall to the dark side for her own continued studies. The conflict as a whole concerns her little and while she has participated in a few battles she finds her capacity best used for more espionage related endeavours. As the war rages into it’s third year and Jedi continue to fall, Kanta is assigned to deal specifically with the elimination of Jedi and force users who joined the CIS. When her hunt crosses path with fellow Jedi Eekal and Nuro’s ongoing conflict with Separatist captain Ourag, she becomes a new and extremely dangerous opponent for the young Separatist and her allies...

SWI Lore- Premise
Since it’s going through a rework and I don’t even remember the last time I uploaded anything of this series thought I’d make a quick refresher
So Star Wars Interloper is my second SW comic idea set during the early Imperial era as opposed to GOTS’ Clone Wars setting. It initially follows the clone of Kanta Cym, a former Jedi with a fixation on ancient history of the Sith species and early order whose studies brought her into darkside practice in secret. Now free from the Jedi Order to pursue her studies as she pleases albeit with the sizable hurdle of overcoming her loss of force abilities given her new clone body following the death of her original vessel during the Clone Wars. However I wouldn’t necessarily call her or her bounty hunter companion Mondo Ril the protagonists as they both quickly become apart of Imperial Task Force 54 and it’s light cruiser The Knell, a small unit deployed to establish and maintain relations between the Empire and the autonomous Corporate Sector while using subterfuge to sway the region towards the Empire’s favour. The crew of the ship all become the main cast and it largely is a military/spy story from the Imperial perspective with the more force side of things being apart of the Kanta’s character but not the overall story in any meaningful regard..
Essentially the story follows this eccentric task force lead by an ex shore trooper Viran Adaso whose unusual military career and personality makes him a magnet for recruiting the outcasts of the Imperial military from aliens to soldiers who expressed more thought than their former COs appreciated. Aside from Adaso the crew is comprised of:
Kess Sanko- a young Umbaran from the pilot caste who was recruited following the sudden end of the Empire’s reverse engineering efforts after the Nightswan incident. He is quiet and quaint but very loyal to Captain Adaso and acts as both lieutenant and pilot flying a prototype Umbaran-Imperial TIE
Noli- a Rodian mechanic and flight engineer whom Adaso recruited under contract to assist in upkeep of Sauff’s unusual fighter alongside other maintenance. Spunky and a workaholic she’s often the one keeping everyone on task and takes interest in learning more about Imperial design
Kofi Terisi- The ship medic who was brought on after being the leading doctor in treating a massive chemical outbreak during a bombing on Quesh. While unrelenting in her medical oath she’s socially inept and awkward in all other situations scolding the crew during treatments while simultaneously becoming a nervous wreck once the medical part of the interaction ends.
The main story after Kanta and Mondo join TF 54 is espionage in CorpSec and dealing with the emergent threat of the NuFront, a violent and highly militarized rebel cell more in line with the Partisans methods than that of the Alliance with aims to devastate and cripple CorpSec to prevent any supply to the Empire and as an act of poetic justice against the war profiteers who directly spurred on much of the front’s members to rebellion. Lead by an eccentric Kyuzo woman Taiko Kayo, the group is a small guerilla army with a shared ideology of gutting the empire from within with it’s members being bound by their singular hatred for the Empire whose cruelty effectively erased any prior allegiances or beliefs of the NuFront’s fighters as they abandon their pasts and futures for the sole aim of causing as much havoc for the Imperials as possible.
Warrant Officer Cual and Comms Officer Minch Ordus- Adaso’s trusted deck crew with Cual being his strategic advisor and while deeply modest and bashful over her abilities being limited to ship based operations, she is idolized by much of the crew as a big sister figure for her level head in even the most dire situations often taking command from the ship while Adaso leads from the front.
Minch Ordus meanwhile is a simple comms officer with a penchant for tapping into CorpSec transmissions with his keen ear for ciphers and codes. He constantly echoes information from his wishing well and is never without his datapad relaying a constant stream of data. Fixated on data and pursuit of knowledge, Minch is in invaluable asset when dealing with alien worlds or navigating the politics of CorpSec though he is often so consumed in study he seldom leaves his post even after his shift ends.

Interloper Rework!
Hellooo everyone, sorry for the sporadic doodles been adjusting to the new stylus/tablet and also working on some ref sheets that can be time consuming. Now then as you know I have several comic ideas the main ones being my vigilante comic BLAABR and a Star Wars story set during the Clone Wars called GOTS. While both of these series are pretty fleshed out both story and character wise, my newer series are still developing and as such my Imperial era Star Wars story “Interloper” is getting another rework! Details bellow if interested in how it will affect the fledgling story/art of characters from this series.
So then, for a quick refresher since it’s been ages since the last upload, Star Wars Interloper is a Star Wars story set during the Imperial era following the small crew of an Imperial Light Cruiser as they engage in counter espionage predominately within the more autonomous zone of the Corporate Sector. The main cast include a young Umbaran pilot of a prototype TIE/Umbaran fighter, a spunky Rodian engineer, a nervous Pyke nurse, a Whiphid bodyguard and her Twilek boss, an Inquisitorus reject turned force adept spy, and the ex-shoretrooper captain of the whole ship. The villains were a cell of highly aggressive rebels separate from the mainline Alliance who were seeking to lay siege to the Corporate Sector to deal a major blow to the Imperial economy via terroristic means as this cadre of diverse victims of the Empire have little to lose and burn with vengeance. That’s really the long and short of it and thinking of a mainline story of these two parties engaging has been difficult to an extent. I eventually added characters from a scrapped Old Republic idea to be in a second arc so to speak with this one focused on an Imperial Moff going rogue with his fleet within Unknown Space seeking to build a true Sith empire that follows his pureblooded ancestry. This story idea held much more weight than the first and has been easier to flesh out yet getting there remained the issue.
Enter another facet, a character from GOTS named Kanta Cym, who seemingly dies at the end of the series, survives via the dark side of the force and manages to cheat death via cloning but finds herself without any force abilities as a result and continues her studies of the ancient Sith unhindered by the Jedi as the Empire now reigns. Originally this was little more than a character epilogue post GOTS but I’ve taken more and more of an interest in fleshing this idea out thinking of her struggles without the force, survival in the slums of city worlds, and meeting a comrade in a shapeshifting Shiido bounty hunter as they evade the Empire, cartels, and a band of Jedi in hiding all the while she attempts to rekindle her force abilities by donning the mask of Darth Nihilus albeit with detrimental repercussions from overuse.
So! I intend to essentially merge these stories into one, taking the stronger narrative of Cym’s endeavours during the Imperial era with the colourful cast and look through Imperial eyes of Interloper. Essentially the story now will follow Kanta as the protagonist for a time as we follow her efforts to pursue the dark side alongside her compatriot (whom I may change from a Shiido to a Harch) and the early antagonists being this rogue Jedi group. This portion will be fairly short and culminate with the Jedi being caught by Adaso’s men thus bridging the two stories as Cym is quietly brought into the fold given Adaso’s meager command and leniency brining her and her comrade aboard as a new spy for the crew (though he only knows of her borderline nonexistent force abilities not her past with the Jedi or Dark Side). And from here we enter Interlopers original plot with the Rebel cell albeit now with a more active protagonist as the Umbaran was very inactive as a protag and lacking in character while Kanta will replace the original spy character from Interloper. Kanta being unaligned with or caring about the Empire as well as her highly peculiar personality will give the plot more life and act not as a parallel or counter to the extremist Rebels, but essentially just being another character with neither being the “good” guy and both seeing the other as little more than obstacles which will allow for the characterization of the Interloper crew like originally intended whilst also keeping the central conflict engaging instead of feeling like just another skirmish. Similarly the spy character now being former Jedi and dark side student Kanta over the original spy character will work far greater in the second arc given it’s central plot point of the Sith species and darksiders acting as the primary antagonists.
Basically, moving forward this new Interloper iteration will be the perfect blend of every small scale Star Wars story I’ve invested in but found unable to turn into a full story. That said, the central themes of Interloper will be unchanged, it will still be a series from an Imperial perspective focusing on Adaso’s crew despite Kanta’s addition to the main cast. The exploration of the Sith and Kanta’s furthering of her efforts to reconnect to the force won’t be lost either as the second arc will provide ample material to do so while the first Rebel arc can instead look more at her relationship with Nihilus and her becoming accustomed to this new era and her new clone body. Now then, expect (much needed) updates to the existing Interloper cast with new backstories where necessary as well as some new characters/new versions of characters and unfortunately the deletion of some characters who won’t make the cut. Thank you and Stay Tuned!
