A big reason why the Kanjo league works so well that it does. Due to being there when it was set up.

Long story short due to reasons the Johto league suffered a lack of trainers to take the spots of the elite 4 and champion. Thus lance and pokemon champion of the time Oak help set up the Kanjo system. Thus giving Johto a working league.

There were special recrements for one to join. A they must have some Johtoean ancestry. And B they must go thru getting all the johto gym badges to apply. Oak was the standing champion for one to defeat to claim the title of Johto champ.

Lance defeated him and was crown the champ of Johto a title which he held for many years.

Kanjo league in beastars

So I hard core binged like all of the show and read the entire manga in these last few days and just here’s the Kanjo league if they were in the beastars universe in broad terms. (I will warn when there are spoilers since the anime isn’t caught up tot he manga.) 

Below cut for length and to better hide spoilers

Based off their main pokemon or theme

Lance: -dragon based- Bearded dragon. Leans more towards the red colorings. His cousin, Clair, is a Komodo dragon and it bothers him that he’s the one who’s successful business wise but she’s the intimidating one cause of her poison.  Job: Accountant for some of the larger companies 

Karen: -Houndoom based- Doberman( mom) mixed with a Sable Antelope (dad). She has the curved sable horns, sable facial markings with the doberman ones layered on top. Shorter height due to prey genes, but toned muscle build from doberman. Long tail with tuft of hair on end. Dog snout, fangs and claws. Job: Pro fighter 

Will: -Bird and to keep Lucian as bio bro- Eurasian eagle-owl. Lighter brown colors, but has some of the longest claws in the family. Loves that he can fly. Brother is also Eurasian eagle-owl.  Job: Does aerial tricks with friends wanting to get into the big leagues of flying.

Koga: -Snake and venom- King cobra. Mostly all black with a pale underbelly but has a ring of black at the base of his hood. Has a daughter who’s part Blue phase Japanese rat snake.  Job: Alternative medicine shop, he can also give massages, sells anti venom, and venom 

Bruno: -Massive animal prey based- Chianina Bull. He maybe a prey but he’s absolutely massive. Despite being a bull his horns are somewhat small in portion to the rest of his body which is normal for the species. He’s got all white fur but he likes to dye it browns and blues. Job: Construction 

Other people in their lives and their species:

Pryce: Polar bear, raised Karen and Will

Wikstrom: Large rhino dating Bruno

Just amusing little jokes from things developed here and the world of beastars. 

Karen’s dad has a thing for dogs as Karen’s step mom is a shiba. Since Karen in the main verse of the blog has had multiple crushes with muses that own cats yes she has an affinity for feline animals. 

Will’s brother, Lucian, runs a library. Will sometimes takes books from this library without asking.

Koga’s been trying to train Janine how to safely use her venom. So far it has gone alright although she has a habit of just letting all her poison fly immediately.

Bruno Is the strongest of the group and has been attacked before. He also tried to apologize to the person that attacked him after defending himself.

Black market stuff

Karen fights in the black market rings there having grownup there and has grown a love of the fight. Plus she feels she can show off just how strong hybrids are and can be there 

Due to living all together and personal preferences of some when it comes to getting meat they have strict rules: No venison, beef, or reptilian of any kind, some birds ok, nothing living still or young. 

Koga mostly eats eggs anyway since they’re his favorite

Bruno was previously in the black market fights brainwashed to be triggered by seeing blood or the smell of it, so all meat has to be put in a freezer in the back till it’s served. Bruno leaves the house when the preds eat usually with Karen since she can eat herbivore meals, or Lance since he just eats bugs and a herbivore diet. Also Koga burns candles to get rid of the smell after they’re done.

Originally when Karen heard about Melon she was ecstatic since hey a hybrid is gaining notoriety! Then after finding out more about him, and seeing him on meat day she quickly grew worried about everything he was planning.

Something that likely happened when Koga, Bruno, Karen, and Will were in the woods

Koga getting a call from the group while doing a supplies run in town.

Koga: "What's so important you called me several times? I managed to secure that extra tent, and water filter but being bombarded with calls doesn't help my focus."

Bruno: "Sorry sorry, called because how uh how does Bruno parent-"

Koga: "You've been doing fine so far I'm sure-"

In the background of the call

Will: "What the fuck is the point though! Of like anything then!? I don't wanna live in the woods!"

Karen: "Woods or psychotic mafia man those are the choices Will!"

Will: "Well what if I don't want those what if I want to do something with my life?"

Karen: "Like what are you going to do?"

Will: "I don't know! What's the point of life!? Why am I alive? Who gave me this!? How did I end up here in my life!?"

Karen: "Why are you asking me!? I don't know anymore than you do!"

Back to Koga

Koga: "Oh, the children having an existential crisis kind of parenting help."

Bruno: "Yes, hurry."

Koga: "I'll steal some comfort food and hurry back."

Headcannon Johto League’s role (Governmentally speaking)

So I’ve talked before about how Karen is head of security in Johto, or I at least that as likely her functional role since when it comes to the Kanjo league the champion and elites seem to be in some way governmental authorities. Limited ones, but they seem to operate in this manner to some extent. 

Will- Head of tourism/ Johto’s image Look he’s a guy who knows what people want to see and he’s good at getting together a good time. So he has people who print the pamphlets and do the websites but he’s the one who comes up with the ideas, knows how to get messages to folks, and sell while still coming across as a genuine person. He also understands the real soul of the region, and how to bring that out to new folks. 

Bruno- Head of public welfare Complaints and issues that people have need to be addressed. Bruno is talented at quickly recognizing and sorting the more important requests from others. He also understands the fallout of various decisions, and works to find the best solution for everyone involved. He just has to put together the plan and then submit so actions can take place to help.

 Koga- Head of gym relations The gyms are obviously important to every region. That also means their needs have to be addressed, making sure they’re up to code, keeping the code updated with the times, make sure they’re quality gyms, make sure the gym leaders have everything they need, badges are made, etc. As a former gym leader he knows how to make a gym work so he is the best candidate for keeping all of them running. He also delegates who goes to check on the gyms to make sure they’re doing their jobs.

Karen- Head of security Security is naturally a large part of the region especially when your region is the one known as the birth place of Rocket. Due to her affiliations with Rocket in the past she is not allowed to directly interfere with them due to it possibly being a conflict of interest. Still she is tasked with making sure police have the training and supplies they need. Also just because Rocket is a concern there are unaffiliated criminals that need to be kept in line as well. She is currently trying to gain authority in the prison system wanting to make some changes. 

Lance- Head of organization, and middle man between league and council Of course with all of this in mind someone has to make sure that files go in the right places and do the right people. He also lends a hand with other’s roles if they ever need it. He is the face of the Johto league as well. The league is not the main governing body, the League council is. He is the person who communicates with them for the region, and the elites as a representative to their perspective. He also is in charge of carrying out any adjustments or laws made that don’t fall in one of the elite’s jurisdiction.

Headcannon-Self care products

Karen is the least concerned about specific beauty/hygene products in the league.

She will get dollar razors, (not use shaving cream), whatever shampoo and body wash smells nice, same with deodorant, and a face wash. She'll maybe use a mask but only if Will wants to do kne or she has a break out. Besides that she's pretty low key about beauty stuff.

On the other hand she refuses to get the guys their beauty/hygiene products because they're all very specific about what they like and don't like. Seriously she's tried so many times to help out and buy something for them or get gifts that she thinks they'd like but there is always something wrong with it. Especially hair products, all of the guys like their hair a particular way and with particular products.

Karen does not understand has has given up trying to.

👫 ~Mewtwo

Send a 👫and I’ll write four headcanons I have about our muse’s relationship

-Open-

-Karen’s umbreon has a major crush on the espeon helping mewtwo, he keeps trying to be smooth, and bring over things like flowers but they’re usually too busy helping mewtwo to notice.

-Karen has aided greatly in helping Lance, Koga, and Bruno have no idea a legendary pokemon sort of chills in the house from time to time. The best example is deleting video evidence of any shenanigans going on caught on security cameras. She also warns him when Silver is over fully trusting the kid, just not wanting to make mewtwo feel uncomfortable.

-Karen also lets them know when the boys are out of the house, and leave her alone to watch the place since it’s a quiet place for mewtwo to rest as well complete with all of the advantages human technology has.

-Karen is immensely curious how cat like mew two is, and has observed sleeping in odd positions, napping in the sun, and dislikes getting wet. She wants to try catnip next.

The Kanjo league best parkour skills

Koga: Balance. Base landings. Leap and land on the smallest thing flat footed. Due to this he can also perch on just about any platform or find some some weird place to rest. 

Karen: Speed. Movements are always crisp as if only operating on instinct. Works best when doing one movement after another using momentum. Often uses all of her limbs to move whether it be to flip, bounce off a wall, etc. Can maneuver on all fours as easily as 2.

Will: Agility. Competes with Karen to get the most flips in though often wins due to shear attention to dramatic flare. Sometimes cheats by using psychic powers. Gets through the smallest gaps.

Bruno: Power. If needed can straight up punch through something. Not the best at parkour due to bulk. Though has the best grip strength and with that is great at scaling vertical walls my shear upper body strength.

Lance: Stamina. Can go for the farthest and longest compared to the others. Usually though is the one yelling at them to come down. When he does do it uses the safest routes.

Avoidances

She had her reasons for avoiding interpol, mostly being related to her past. Back when she was in Rocket she’d been attacked by then plenty of times, and attacked back. One time a firing match had almost taken her down for good, and she still had the scar from it. Then there was her present with the league council unashamed to threaten them arresting her for past crimes if she misbehaved such as getting involved in Rocket again, or crime outside of what she documented in being Johto’s security. In short she loathed them to an extent, and did everything in her ability to avoid them. 

If any agent ever came to the door she’d just hand Lance or Koga what they needed before making up some convenient excuse to leave. The few times she did interact with interpol was kept short usually, and stiffly professional. 

So when her murkrow flapped to her in a slight panic to quickly tap out,’interpol!’ in morse code her eyes went wide. 

Why were they here?! She thought to herself scrambling to her knees to peek over the current roof top she was on. Sure enough she could spot two familiar shapes in the darkness. 

“Oh you’ve got to be kidding me.”

She muttered reaching for her mask. The black leather was shaped like that of some sort of canine with purple accents in the same way a festival mask would be. The ears of it tall enough to slip in between the holes on the hood from her long grape hued coat to make sure the hood didn’t sip off to show her hair. Using a mask while committing crimes, one of Pryce’s better ideas. Sure enough they seemed to be looking towards the meeting place that she sent one of her men. How was this happening though?! 

Sho, a drug dealer who in exchange for a bed every night at the bar assisted in stings, gave her intel, and aided a few times as back up was supposed to be here to meet with a client. The woman had been embezzling money from charity to feed an addiction, and was unfortunately good at hiding it from the books. The goal was to take photos of her buying from him to gather more evidence to anonymously tip to police, so a certain elite four in charge of security could follow the lead. 

Unless....Sho mentioned having one client before their target, and with interpol posted up. Was this a sting, within a sting? She thought quietly making her way to the fire escape. It’d happened with Kanjo police before. Where one department was trying to bust an operation that was another departments cover. Once was funny, upwards of 30 times was embarrassing. Possibly they’d simply screwed each other.

Kanjo league and sex

Will: Used to use sex as a coping mechanism has since worked on that aspect of himself with great strides in improving! Has tried pretty much everything.

Koga: Closeted bi, working on admitting it to himself. Still not fully over the loss of wife who he was deeply in love with. 1 bio kid 2 informally adopted ones.

Bruno: This man fucks absolutely fucks. Healthiest relationship with sex honestly. 😎

Karen: Femme fatal but always found ways around actually having sex, so surprisingly a virgin. Hard demisexual. Wants relationship but has 0 idea what she's doing since she's only known romance in the context of using people.

Lance: Asexual surrounded by idiots.
