the voice of your teacher announcing a new student catches your attention, a boy with slightly longer hair stands beside her, holding onto his backpack. “this is kang dae-ho, he is transferring from seoul, and as your new classmate, you shall treat him with respect.” your eyes analyze dae-ho, he’s cute, you think. you glance over to your friend and she raises her eyebrow in a flirty manner, you smile.
“find a seat, dear.” there were plenty of seats available, but the seat beside you was the one he was eyeing the most, and you did not mind at all if he sat next to you.
the two of you make eye contact and you watch his eyebrows raise slightly, he quickly makes his way to the seat beside you. you give him a soft smile and he returns it, a soft hint of redness grows on his face.
“of course.” your friend playfully rolls her eyes and you chuckle before the teacher begins the class.
once the class finished, you head to your lockers to put away your books, in the distance you see dae-ho and your friend speaks. “you should go and talk to him, maybe we can go to the bakery after school.” you look at her and nod.
“that’s a good idea.” you walk away from your locker, your hand holding your other over your legs as you make your way toward him. dae-ho turns and his heart begins to race as if your beauty leaves him speechless, or you coming up to him caught him off guard. “dae-ho, was it?” he nods. “nice to meet you, I’m y/n.”
he smiles widely. “cute name for a cute girl.” you smile, his confidence taking you aback for a slight moment.
“thank you.” you feel your face heat up, but you brush it off. “my friend and i were wondering if you’d like to join us at the bakery right across the street after school? we usually go there for some lunch, since the lunch here is not too good.” you make a disgusted noise and scrunch your nose, he laughs and you smile.
“I’d like that,” he says and you smile.
“great. see you there. what’s your next class?” you ask him, and he tells you that it’s math, you exclaim when you look at his schedule and realize you have every single class together.
after classes finish, the three of you do as you agreed and head to the bakery. you get to know a lot about dae-ho, and you find out you have much more in common than you ever thought. he’s energetic and kind, and you admire that.
“so, do you have any plans after graduation?” you ask him, breaking the silence your friend left you both in after her mother came to pick her up.
he hums, taking his time thinking what to say. “joining the marines is a good idea.” you raise an eyebrow. “but, apart from that—i’d love to marry a pretty girl, maybe start a family with her, maybe move back to the city, or move to costa rica, i’ve seen pictures and i think it’s the most beautiful place i’ve ever seen.” you can’t help but smile at his plans, they’re quite nice. “and you?” he asks you your question.
“i want to become a veterinarian. i love animals so much, i’ve rescued some! dogs and cats!”
“what do you do after? do you keep them?” he questions.
“oh no no! i’m allergic to cats, i just send them to a shelter or put them up for adoption. when animals stay in shelters too long they sometimes kill them, and i hate that. i wish i could keep every animal i rescue, but ive only kept two dogs, two german shepherds.”
dae-ho laughs. “remind me not to mess with you, then.” you laugh at his joke.
“yeah, don’t.” you suck on your bottom lip and look at him. “but, apart from becoming a veterinarian, I’d also like to marry a handsome guy, and maybe start a family, although, I’m alright with dogs—how many kids do you want?”
“i want 4.” your breath hitches, and you grimace, you’re acting as if you’re gonna be the mother, but, you couldn’t help it.
“your poor wife.” you place your lips into a thin line. you two share a short laugh and continue to get to know each other.
you and dae-ho grew fond of each other in only 3 months, he was even walking you to your house, no matter the fact that his house was nearly 20 minutes from yours.
one night, you and dae-ho stand in your front steps, before you say goodbye, he grabs your hand and caresses it softly. “y/n.” he begins, he has all of your attention. “why don’t we… take a break from the bakery and go to an actual restaurant…maybe tomorrow?” he pauses between his words, thinking thoroughly about what he’s saying. when he sees your expression soften, he knows it’s going great.
“i’d love to.” you smile widely and place a hand on his cheek gently. the two of you share a sweet moment, he said he’ll text you the details, and you dismiss him with a kiss on the cheek and the blood rushing to his cheek makes your heart flutter.
one date led to another, and then another, after that, another one, until it became a weekly thing. when the two of you graduated, he quickly went off to the marines, and you were proud of him for that, he could do what he wished for, but you were terrified at the same time, terrified that one day he might not come home, and the thought of that destroyed you.
him coming back home permanently meant everything to you, you thought that maybe you could start a family now, you were at a fine age, you were married and financially stable, your job was paying you very well, and so was, dae-ho’s, but now that he’s back—forever now, that might change—and, it did.
you turn sideways on your bed, your hand brushes the cold spot next to you, it’s empty, you don’t like that feeling at all, it makes you feel empty. you remember the moments when dae-ho kept you warm, the times after intimate moments when you would just lay in his chest, staring into his eyes, or simply when you would fall asleep in each other’s arms.
you check the time, and it’s 2:34 am, you sigh and stare at your ceiling, and you start to feel tears pooling in your eyes. you stand from your bed and head over to the closet. there, you take one of dae-ho’s jackets and hug it, as if he was wearing it as if you were hugging him. his scent made your heart ache, this was the closest you’d been to him in almost two months.
you sob your heart out as you slide down the wall, softly murmuring his name like a prayer, hoping he’ll hear you.
your finger softly curls dae-ho’s hair, and the two of you admire each other in the spotlight, his hand on your hip and yours on his shoulder, sharing the prom king and queen dance.
“prom king, huh?” you raise an eyebrow.
“no thanks to you, prom queen.” he chuckles and you roll your eyes.
“what’s a king without his queen?” dae-ho raises his eyebrows and nods. “this is so embarrassing, i hope they’re not looking—or looking at you.” you chuckle.
“no, trust me. they’re looking at you.” your eyes light up, and your face gets hot, but you don’t know if it’s because of embarrassment or his compliment. “you look unbelievable tonight, y/n. i can’t imagine you on our wedding day.” he says, your mouth opens and your heart flutters, god, you cannot wait to marry him, he’s all you’ve ever wished for, you don’t care that he’s your first love, you think he’s the love of your life—you know he is, and that’s what matters, not what people think.
“i love you.” your confession catches him off guard, he’s said it before, but you never said it back, only ‘me too’ but the words ‘I love you’ have never come out of your mouth, and even though you’ve been wanting to say it ever since the moment you laid eyes on him, something has been stopping you, but you knew it was about time.
“i love you more,” he says back, and you smile widely. you embrace each other, but continue your dance until it concludes.
shortly after graduation, the two of you decided that after dae-ho serves his time in the marines, you’d get married—and so you did. your wedding was beautiful, it was intimate, with only two or three family members from dae-ho’s side, for obvious reasons, and almost your whole family tree.
your family loved dae-ho as if he was their own, and that made you feel very grateful, dae-ho had a rough childhood, and seeing him get the love he never had growing up was better than anything you could ever ask for.
the day of your marriage was truly the happiest day you’ve ever been, and let’s not even talk about the night. from then on, you appreciated every single moment with dae-ho, you always have, but you’re treasuring them even more now. the two of you began to travel, you started with costa rica, of course, and so on—you went to some places such as japan, tennessee, bali, dominican republic, and all of europe, you’d hope that between this year and next, you can finish traveling the caribbean because dae-ho loves the caribbean and the beaches.
you had planned for the bahamas on your next trip, but this is around the time when your husband was struggling, and when he turned up missing.
dae-ho has been missing for almost two months, he just vanished into thin air, he didn’t leave you a note, or a text message, he just… left. and you missed him dearly, you thought these months as an eternity, and you couldn’t take it anymore.
the orange bottle of full pills was tempting you—you wanted to end this pain, you wanted to end it now. he could end it, if he would just show up on the doorstep, just him, you don’t even want flowers or a gift, you just need him, or the other reason to end it is to just not keep living.
why would you need to keep living? the reason you are hasn’t been here with you these days—you have no reason to keep living, so why not just finish it?
your brother found you, he took you in his arms, sobbing and calling out your name. the bright hospital light was bothering you, your vision was blurry and your heartbeat was steady, slower than usual, but it was still beating, and that was the important thing.
the cold, dry air of the hospital made you feel sicker as if you were actually dead. you had your eyes closed when you felt a familiar, warm touch in your hand. you try your best to open your eyes, but your vision is still blurry.
“dae-ho?” you croak, a drop of wetness rolling down your cheek in pain. you hear no answer, so you don’t know if you’re hallucinating, or dreaming, but you cry.
you had thought that maybe—maybe he’d been back, oh, god you wish he’d been back, just so that you could spend the time you have left with him—but one thing is for sure, and it’s that you’ll soon be seeing him, whether that would be in the flesh, or the after life, is still to be decided.

Jung-bae let out a satisfied sigh, cracking a boiled egg between his fingers. "Oh! Just like my mom used to make," he said, glancing around at the others sitting on their bunks, eating in silence. "What's in yours?" His voice carried through the massive, dimly lit room, but few responded. Most were too lost in their thoughts, their fear outweighing their hunger.
Kang Eun-ji, however, remained quiet for a different reason. She had grabbed her food and distanced herself from the rest, settling onto the lower bunk in the farthest corner of the room. The thick tension in the air was suffocating, and she wanted no part of it. The game had barely begun, and already, alliances were forming, secrets were being whispered, and desperation clung to the players like a second skin.
She peeled her egg slowly, eyes flickering over the room. Dae-ho was here. She had seen him the moment they entered the room, and despite her best efforts, her gaze had kept drifting toward him. It had been three years. Three years of silence, of waiting, of telling herself he would come back. And now he was here.
But instead of facing her, he had just watched from across the room, just as hesitant as she was.
She pressed her lips together, her grip on the egg tightening before she forced herself to take a bite. The taste was bland, but it didn't matter. She just needed something to focus on besides the way her heart still reacted to seeing him.
A shadow fell over her. She didn't have to look up to know who it was.
"You're sitting all the way over here?"
Eun-ji exhaled sharply, keeping her gaze on her food. "Go away, Dae-ho."
He sighed, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. "Eun-ji—"
" Three years." Her voice was steady, but the grip on her egg betrayed her. "You said you'd come back. Do you even know how long three years is? How long I waited?"
Dae-ho stiffened. He had expected her to be angry, but hearing it was something else entirely. "I didn't have a choice."
Eun-ji scoffed, finally looking up at him. "No choice? You proposed to me, Dae-ho. You asked me to wait for you. Then you disappeared."
He clenched his jaw, looking away. He wanted to tell her the truth—that it wasn't his decision, that his father had forced him into the Marines, cutting off all contact with her. But the words stuck in his throat. Would she even believe him?
"I thought you'd moved on," he muttered instead.
Eun-ji let out a hollow laugh. "You thought I moved on? After what you did? You were the one who left. And now you're here, standing in front of me, acting like you have the right to ask me anything?"
Dae-ho ran a hand through his hair, frustration growing. "You think I wanted to leave you?" He lowered his voice, stepping closer. "You think I had a choice?"
She looked up at him, searching his face. There was something there—something unsaid. But she wasn't going to let herself believe in hope again.
"I don't care anymore," she said coldly, turning away. "You're three years too late."
Dae-ho inhaled sharply. The words stung more than he expected. But he could still see it—the way her hands trembled slightly, the way she avoided his eyes too quickly. She was lying.
Neither of them had moved on.
Before he could say anything else, voices from the other side of the room caught his attention.
"You were in the Marines?" someone asked, and Dae-ho's head snapped toward the conversation.
Eun-ji watched from her bunk, as he left but looked back at her...as if he was hoping she'd stop him.....his eyes said everything ,but she didn't reply rather turning her head away lips pressing into a thin line.Dae-ho was the same as always—stubborn, determined. And yet, seeing him like this, desperate for something to ground himself, made her chest ache in a way she didn't want to acknowledge.
She turned her attention back to her food, forcing herself to ignore the pull in her heart.
Three years was a long time. Too long.
And yet, it felt like yesterday.
She sat on the edge of a bunk, her sharp gaze scanning the dimly lit room. Conversations blended into a low hum around her, but her focus narrowed on three figures across the space.
An old woman—frail yet warm—spoke in hushed tones, gently pushing an egg toward a younger woman. The girl hesitated, her hands resting protectively over her stomach.
"You should eat it for your baby," the old woman murmured. "Eggs are good for pregnant women. I've helped more than a dozen women in my neighborhood deliver their babies. I can tell just by looking at you."
Eun-Ji watched, something in her chest tightening. The woman's voice was soft yet firm, her kindness unwavering despite their grim surroundings. How rare was it to find such warmth in a place like this?
The pregnant girl flinched, as if struggling to decide whether to accept the food or reject it out of pride—or fear. Her belly was small enough to go unnoticed if one wasn't paying close attention, but the old woman had seen right through her attempt to hide it.
The thought alone made her fists clench. Who would bring a child into a world this cruel? And yet, the girl was already here, already fighting for two lives instead of one.
She had already noticed the signs before anyone else—the slight swelling of the woman's feet, the way she walked carefully, the way she clutched her stomach when she thought no one was looking. It was obvious to her, as a doctor, that the girl was pregnant.
She let out a quiet sigh, watching as the old woman kindly offered her egg. There was something about her warmth that made Eun-Ji's chest tighten. Kindness like that was rare in a place like this. And yet, it made her think.
Taking a deep breath, Eun-Ji stood up and walked toward the girl. She wasn't sure why she felt compelled to do this, but something inside her told her she needed to.
"Here," Eun-Ji said, holding out her own egg.
The pregnant girl hesitated, her eyes flickering up to Eun-Ji's face in surprise. "I—I can't take that."
"Take it," Eun-Ji insisted. "You need it more than I do."
The girl studied her for a moment before finally accepting it with a quiet "Thank you."
Eun-Ji sat down beside her, arms resting on her knees. "I'm Kang Eun-Ji," she said simply.
The girl gave her a small, wary smile. "Kim Jun-Hee."
Eun-Ji nodded, making a silent decision then and there. She was going to look out for Jun-Hee. It wasn't much, but maybe in this hellish place, even small acts of protection mattered.
Eun-Ji exhaled, leaning back slightly as she smiled at Jun-Hee.
This game was designed to turn people against each other. To strip them of their humanity until all that remained was a desperate need to survive. And yet, here was an old woman, offering kindness with no expectation of anything in return.
For the first time since she had arrived, Eun-Ji found herself thinking about someone other than herself. Jun-Hee and Him.
Maybe... maybe she should start keeping an eye on her.
She scoffed at herself. When had she ever played protector to anyone?
But even as she tried to push the thought aside, she already knew the answer.
It didn't matter what kind of person she had been before. That girl wouldn't make it alone. And for some reason, that didn't sit right with her.
She had decided to look out for Jun-Hee and to protect and help her.

“i need you. right now.”
those five words was all it took for you to end up like this. naked, legs spread impossibly wide, with dae-ho’s head buried into your cunt as he ripped orgasm after orgasm from you. his tongue wildly lapped at your swollen clit like he was a dog dying of thirst. his fingers plunged into you, his fingertips kissing the spongy spot deep inside you until your mind was fuzzy.
you didnt know what gotten into him. he had never been this messy and relentless with you before. you desperately tried to unlatch your cunt from him by pulling away only to be met with his whiny voice. “pleasepleaseplease angel just one more then we’ll stop,” he sputtered against your pussy. “j’st can’t get ‘nough of your pretty pussy, doll"
if it weren’t for your dazed state you would’ve known it was far from the last orgasm. you should've pushed him away and saved yourself from the hours of torture he was about to perform on you pussy, but you simply nodded and let out a squeaky "okay".
your body felt numb, yet you felt every little graze at the same time. you felt so utterly exposed. his long fingers thrusting in and out of your squelching cunt. the sounds were pornographic, the loud wet sounds coming from between your legs mixed with both of your moans made your pussy throb and your stomach tighten.
“m’ close !!” you cried out.
“c’mon sweetheart,” his voice was muffled. “you can do it baby, give it to me”
the feeling of your gummy walls contract around his fingers only made his desire to make you cum stronger. his tongue swirled around your clit, his fingers curled deep into you. and with one final thrust of his fingers and caress of his tongue, you came undone.
it was if the earth stopped moving on its axis. all the oxygen was ripped from your lungs as you screamed through your orgasm. you gushed all over his face, spraying your sweet juices all in his mouth.
“d’ you just squirt, dolly?” it came out as a laugh more than a question.
“mgfh” you groaned, rolling over on your side and curling up into a fetal position.
he grabbed your ankles and pulled you back towards the edge of the bed.
“ah ah ah, we’re not done yet baby,” he smirked.

“dae-ho please.” you plead as dae-ho pulls down your panties.
the rest of your clothes were already on the hardwood floor.
“please what?” dae-ho’s eyes were darker as smiled down and kissed your inner thighs. you couldn’t stop yourself from grinding up onto his thigh as you felt yourself clench onto nothing..
“please fuck me.” you said and daeho started taking off his clothes.
the marine’s black shirt, then his black joggers, then his black boxers
you were hypnotized by daeho’s biceps, crossing your legs but moving your legs up to where you were displaying the waterfall inbetween your legs. daeho gripped his length as he stared.
“you’re so pretty. that pussy is so pretty.” daeho’s muscular frame leaned over to kiss your temple. he moved back in front of you and uncrossed your legs, seeing the most beautiful sight that he cannot get enough of.
“who’s pussy?” daeho whispered to you.
you bit your chapped lip as you took your right hand, caressing his facial cheek with your thumb as you spread your legs further from the center.
“yours, daeho.”
“good girl.”
the ex-marine spread your legs and started to kiss down your moisturized inner thighs, going closer and closer to where you want him to be.
daeho gave a few pecks before diving right in. you released the loudest moan as he kitten-licked your entire vagina before going lower to flick at your soft and swollen clit. your hands grabbed his long black hair as he held one hand on your soft waist and another massaging your inner left thigh.
“yea– fuck! oh myyy god” you called out as daeho’s warm tongue broke through your core, diving right into your walls as he pulled at the top of your privates, exposing your sensitive bud from its hood so he can work his thumb on it .
you know daeho is enjoying this as well due to his moans and sounds that cause vibrations on your vagina. after a couple of seconds, daeho humped himself against the bed.. giving his big cock a bit of friction. he pulled his head back and first saw your swollen bud, he smirked before he blowed onto it causing you to move her entire body to the right.
“no no, don’t move.” daeho held your entire body to stay in place before looking back to see your soaked vagina ready for him.
“please fuck me.” you say again as daeho pushed himself up. your mouth stared watering at the sight of his dick, ready for him to reorganize your insides.
“how badly do you want me?” daeho places your legs on his shoulders before bending down to kiss you. you look down and moan at your boyfriend moving his tip along your soaked folds, you lightly squealed when it makes contact with your clit.
“i want you so bad, i need your dick!” you moaned against his mouth.
“that’s good to know, my sweetheart.”
no matter how many times daeho entered you, your walls always need to adjust to his size.
“you’re doing so good, mama, just breathe.” daeho lets you adjust and held both sides of your head. you take a few breaths as daeho nibbles along your earlobe.
“breathe in.” daeho stared into your loving eyes as you took a huge breath in, “breathe out.”
“this is all mine.” the ex-marine mumbles to himself, admiring his length fully buried inside of your soaked walls.
“fuck!” you cussed, pushing yourself to move against his length. daeho adjusted his body and started to pull in and out of you slowly, causing the two lovers to moan loudly.
the man wanted to take his time with you, always. the same reason your man always hated quickies, he needs to process all of the sensations he has when his cock is buried deep in your pussy.
“harder.” you moaned out and daeho, being the good boy he is, listened to your request.
this as the best feeling in the world, to the both of you.
for daeho, it's seeing the love of his life under him as she looks down at his dick rearranging her insides with her glassy eyes and swollen lips. for you, its seeing daeho’s jaw clench while he admires that features of your face, making sure that he does not let go and cum too early because of how good your vagina feels.
“gosh you’re fucking soaked.” daeho whimpered while leaning his head down, giving you a prominent hickey below your inner jawline. you felt yourself clutch around his dick due to his whimpering.
a new discovered kink… you thought. sometimes daeho doesn’t whimper and prefers groaning.
“its like i am deep inside a pool full of water, gosh i need to cum inside of this pussy.”
daeho starts babbling.
“daeho..” you moaned, a little too loud.
“do you want me to cum inside?”
your man asks for consent.
“cum inside.”
you kiss along his jaw as you feel his fat cock twitch deep inside your walls.
the both of you moaned as your insides pulsed around his dick, “fuck fuck fuck i’m gonna-“ you moaned before you finally released all over daeho.
“shi-shit I’m almost done, just gotta make sure every last drop gets in there..” daeho fucked into your hold more as he felt himself coming.
“fuck!” you felt daeho release inside, painting your walls white.
earlier, you checked your period tracker app and saw that today is your ovulation day.
yet somehow, you forgot about it.
so, no wonder why your pregnancy test came back positive eight weeks later.

RED LIGHTS - PLAYER 230
TLDR >>> Thanos, being the person he is pushes people during red light, green light—killing them. He decides to chase after you, likely trying to the same, until you trip…does he catch you? Does he watch you die? WARNINGS >>> Death/Murder (it is squid games after all.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Red. Green. Red. Green. Red. You heard the doll call out the ‘red light’ and ‘green light’ commands as you skillfully and quickly run towards the red line, trying your absolute best to avoid tripping and falling. Next to you stood a tall man with purple hair and many silver rings adorned on his tattooed hands—Player 230, as his track suit said.
You catch his gaze for a moment, before he sticks his hand out to the person in front of you, pushing them over right before the light turned red. They were shot no less than five seconds later, spraying their red hot blood all over you. “What the hell!?” You shout at him as the light turns green.
He grins mischievously, his purple hair falling in his eyes as he purposefully trips the person in front of him, causing them to be eliminated. He then looks back at you, his silver rings glinting menacingly in the harsh game lights.
You move the side as much as you can, trying to form a gap between you and Player 230 so you don’t end up like the dozens of lifeless corpses lying on the ground—but it doesn’t help. The purple-haired man just keeps following you.
He continues to mimic your movements, staying right on your heels as you try to distance yourself from him. His eyes never leave your form, a strange fascinated glint in their depths. As the light turns red once more, he leans in close, his breath ghosting over your ear. You visibly tense at the feeling, forcing yourself not to flinch away.
He chuckles lowly as he notices your unease, finding your reaction amusing. Keeping his tone teasing yet oddly threatening, he murmurs, "What's wrong, Senorita? Nervous?" He stick his tongue out playfully. “Leave me alone.” You run as fast as you possibly can as soon as the red light turns green. Still, it looks like there will be one more light before you can reach the finish line. You unknowingly step on a small pebble, causing you to trip—right as the giant doll calls ‘red light’.
As you trip, the world seems to slow down. Thanos sees his chance and takes it, lunging forward to grab you by the collar and pull you back, ensuring you don't cross the red line. “It would be a shame to see a pretty face like yours not make it to the next round.” Player 230 says as he holds you by your track suit collar. When the light turns green, he pulls you to your feet and lets go.
Once the two of you cross the red line and make it to the opposite side of the doll, Player 230 walks over to you. “I’m Thanos, what’s your name, Senorita?” This might just be the start of an unlikely friendship and alliance.

Having a Small Talk with Kang Dae-Ho (HC)
kang dae-ho x fem!reader
a/n: I love making headcannons based off of him so much I might aswell started writing a whole fanfic, but unfortunately i'm not really good at that so take this instead!!
warning: just poor english, fluff, not proofread yet, MY OPINION so im sorry if it’s a little ooc for you
Tumblr media
─── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───
• even though dae-ho has 4 older sisters, his communication skills with other women (other than his sisters) is very bad LIKE BAD BAD.
• he is aware of that and when getting into that kind of occasion, he would always be careful with his words so it doesn't come out as weird.
• so when dae-ho met you in the game for the first time... AWKWARD AS HELL. dae-ho would stutter his introduction so hard, you will be like "umm is this dude okay?". (how can he be okay when there's a pretty girl like you standing in front of him)
• after you both had your first introduction, you two didn't have many conversations after that, but it didn't last long bcz as time goes by, dae-ho would be the one who always opened up a small talks with you. He enjoyed talking to you so much bcz he thinks you’re the only one who doesn’t think he’s weird or annoying for talking too much out of nervousness, he of course had a soft spot for you since then.
• dae-ho's small talks can be either normal, OR it looks like he's trying so hard to get to know you where it can lead to awkward moments. I can see him straight up blurting something to you, like
"I didn't realize that your eye color is so pretty. Do you use contact lenses?"
(after the mingle game) "Hey... are you okay? Wait, no, of course you do- we don't. Sorry about that I was just checking on you!" *facepalms himself*
OR
"I- I had a pet hamster once when I was little" (I CAN SEE DAE-HO SAY SOMETHING LIKE BCZ HE LOVES TALKING TO YOU SO MUCH!!!)
• you thought it was cute and sweet, seeing dae-ho tried to get to know you by always making small talks even though sometimes he would get his words twisted and probably stutter too hard he starts walking away in embarrassment, but it don't matter to you bcz he's trying his best!!!
• the moment you're the one who starts the conversation or small talks is the moment he will die BECAUSE THAT IS EXACTLY HOW HE REACTS WHEN YOU DO THAT. dude's like, "Omg.. is this a dream?"
• when you're the one who starts the conversation, you can see dae-ho gets flustered. he didn't know what to say to you and he's kinda lost in his own confusion, so you had to snap him back to reality, "dae-ho, are you listening? did I say something wrong?"
dae-ho's finally stopped daydreaming, "oh no no no, I was just thinking about something else." while doing the 'no no' both hand motion (idk what's it called). and started blushing like crazyyyyy
and in that very exact moment you two become very close ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗

Sleepless Nights Aided by You.
Summary: It's hard to sleep when surrounded by the threat of death. But Dae-ho makes it bearable, even if only a little.
Pairing: Kang Dae-ho x F!Reader
Word Count: 1,529
A/N: LOL, hey guys, I did not think I'd be posting this but I've been obsessed with Squid Game and specifically Dae-ho. I thought I'd break my own writing haitus to give you guys this little fluff piece. I'll post a little update about the status of my Tumblr soon, but for now, enjoy this :P
(Also, to everyone who sent me a message after my update post, thank you <3 Know that I did see them and read them and I appreciate all of you!)
Tumblr media
It's been nights of this and the sleeping never gets easier.
You'd have thought that despite everything, the exhaustion would override the racing thoughts. Surely, forced to participate in gruelling and sometimes physically challenging games with the constant threat of death weighing over you and being underfed that the sleep would come naturally.
But you've always been a lousy sleeper; before all this, before the games, you'd spend nights staring up at the ceiling of your worn down, small apartment stuck in your thoughts. Even as a little girl with the carelessness and naivety that came with being young, sleep wasn't something that came easy to you.
So, really, you shouldn't be surprised that in that suffocating and prison-like room, you wouldn't be able to sleep now either. It was beyond just the games itself - with each passing day, it became abundantly clear that there were more people you couldn't trust than those you could.
The blue 'X' patch on your sweater was enough of a reason to make you a target to some. Being a woman was another. The large piggy bank that carried the sum of those already dead was of course probably the biggest reason. Among the many other things you'd come to learn about the people you'd been trapped with.
You were lucky enough to have found yourself a group of people that took you in and it wasn't that you necessarily didn't trust him. Befriending a previous winner of the games had been something you'd been unsure of before, but Gi-hun had really only shown the best intentions of trying to help as many people survive as he could.
It wasn't just him. Seeing a group of men so willingly take in a pregnant woman and doing the utmost to protect her had been enough of a reason for you to trust them.
Everything else that had ocurred was beyond what you could've imagined in a place like this. In the midst of the games and the constant disappointment of voting, they'd made you realize that there was still reason to fight and most importantly, smile when you could.
(And most of all, a certain someone had made all of this just that bit more bearable.)
You did trust them. Gi-hun's plan to set up a barrier around where you all slept was smart and having people take turns watching had proven to only be further effective.
It still didn't mean that it made it any easier to sleep.
Letting out a huff, you rub at your eyes, frustrated with your inability to even sleep for a little bit. You were getting to your wits-end with exhaustion and it was certainly going to start impacting how you performed in the games. Being sloppy and tired wouldn't just mean losing, it would mean death.
You roll over to your side, facing towards your group and the direction that allowed you to see who was keeping watch currently.
When you saw the familiar numbers of '388', your decision was made.
Figuring that tossing and turning in bed wasn't doing you any good regardless, you crawled out of bed. Careful of Jun-hee who was beside you and tip-toeing your way around Young-il, you step in behind Dae-ho. Alert as he is, he jumps faintly at the sound of you, easing the second he realizes it's just you.
His lips curve into a soft smile but the confusion is plain in his eyes as you take a seat next to him.
"Are you okay?" He asks, voice soft so as not to wake up the others.
You nod with a tired smile. "Yes," you assure with a light bow. "I couldn't sleep. I saw it was you keeping watch so I thought I'd come and keep you company."
Dae-ho's face falls with understanding. "Oh," he mumbles, "I heard you tossing and turning."
Flushing faintly, you bite your lip. You hadn't realized you'd been so obvious in your struggle. "I'm sorry if it was distracting... Hopefully I didn't wake anyone up." You glance back the sleeping bodies of your friends, frowning.
"No, no," Dae-ho shakes his head, waving his hands at you. "I was more worried. It doesn't seem like you've been sleeping well since we got here."
Blinking, you turn to him. You didn't realize he'd been paying attention enough to notice. But really, you shouldn't be surprised - over the course of the games, Dae-ho had proven time and time again that he was at the very least paying attention. From reassuring you with jokes and smiles to encouraging you during the games, it was clear Dae-ho cared enough to pay attention.
"A little," you admit with a small shrug. "I know I should sleep but I can't get rid of this... nervous feeling. It's something about this place. I never feel safe."
Shoulders falling, you glance down at your lap, fiddling with your fingers. It was impossible to deny how terrified you were. It wasn't hard to see everyone was terrified, but you couldn't shake the constant nagging weight on your shoulders that every breath might be your last.
It was driving you crazy.
A hand falls on your shoulder, soft and gentle, and you turn to Dae-ho in surprise.
"I won't let anything happen to you."
It's such a simple thing, really. The words themselves hold little weight, but the way Dae-ho looks at you tells you he really means it. There's a determined glint to his eyes and though his face remains warm, the usual goofy smile he keeps on for the sake of trying to stay positive is replaced with certainty.
In a place like this, you didn't make a promise like that without meaning it.
Not to mention, over the few short days you've gotten to know Dae-ho, you know he isn't the type of person to lie about something like this. The concern on his face is genuine and it warms your heart in a way you thought impossible in a place like this.
The you who had thought it foolish to trust people at the beginning was long gone and you could no longer ignore the way something like that coming from Dae-ho made you feel.
"Thank you," you whisper, biting your lip as you look up at him. As he lets his face ease into a warm smile, you shake your head. "I have no idea how you do it, Dae-ho."
Raising a brow, he pauses; "hm?"
"Stay so positive," you explain. "I feel like I'm falling apart at the seams but you still seem so strong. I know you're scared, how could you not be... But you don't let it bring you down."
This time it's his turn to be shocked. Lips parting, he meets your eyes. "I am scared," he admits, nodding. "But I want to be strong... for-for everyone. For... you."
You're struck once again by his words, finding his words endearing and heart-warming all the same. You trusted all your friends, but it was foolish to say that Dae-ho wasn't the one you'd felt most safe around. From the first moment you'd met him, he'd made sure to help you survive. From simple encouragement to physically making sure no one bothered you.
It's why you chose to sit with him when you saw he was keeping watch. You find yourself naturally gravitating towards his presence and warmth and maybe it's selfish, but he doesn't seem to mind you relying on him all that much.
Swallowing thickly, you shift closer to him, moving so you're pressed against his side. His face shifts at the action, surprised, cheeks warming lightly as he moves to make space for you. The arm that had been pressed against his side moves to rest behind you, tucking you into his side.
"I do feel safe with you," you assure, nodding at him. "You make it easier to be here, even if only a little. When I'm with you... I feel like I can breathe."
A moment of silence passes, the two of you enamoured with one another before Dae-ho speaks up. "You... You can sleep here; if-if you want. I have watch until morning, I won't go anywhere."
Meeting his eyes, you notice then the way your eyelids have grown heavy. You'd been exhuasted before but in that moment it does feel as if you'd actually be able to close your eyes and fall asleep.
The nagging feeling eating away at your chest with the overwhelming threat of death wasn't gone, but it had... subdued since sitting with Dae-ho.
"You don't mind?" You ask him.
He shakes his head. "Of course not."
"Okay," you agree, turning so you're facing forward. With only the briefest moment of hesitancy, you let your head fall against his shoulder, leaning into him and letting some of your weight fall onto him. Dae-ho's arm moves to wrap around your waist instead of resting behind you, helping keeping you supported.
"Wake me if you get uncomfortable," you whisper, already feeling the sleep set in.
Dae-ho nods, but you both know he'd never do that. Not if it meant you could get some rest and stay by his side.

☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
“dae-ho…” you whined, feeling his soft hands slip between your legs to gently caress your inner thighs. “what is it baby, is this okay?” he speaks in a low but gentle voice with a hint of need, his darkened eyes almost pleading you to say yes. “yes dae-ho, please, i need you,” you manage to squeak out between your short breaths. dae-ho plants soft kisses on your neck as he starts moving his fingers to your clit. he rubs you softly, skilled hands moving in circles while he sucks gently on your collarbone. you can sense his neediness through his erratic breathing, only making you want him more. you grind gently against his fingers, needing to feel more of him. “you want me so bad, darling. i can tell,” he lifts himself from your neck just to smile at you, seeing you frantically nod in response. “dae-ho… just want you inside me…” you tell him. “hmm not yet, let me make you come first. then you’ll be nice and wet for me, yeah?” dae-ho slides your lace panties off and lowers his face between your legs.
he looks angelic like this— eyes dark with desire and strands of hair slightly obstructing your view of his face. he presses a couple soft kisses to your clit before gently flicking it with his tongue. you squirm slightly, stifling a moan as dae-ho continues circling his tongue around you. he then begins to suck on you, the feeling almost overwhelming. your legs shake around him while you clench around nothing, feeling dae-ho gently press his hips into the bed, needing friction. he slides a finger into you and starts slowly moving in and out of you. you gasp at the feeling, needing to be filled by him completely. “dae-ho, i’m close,” you whisper. he knows exactly what you need. his tongue presses a little harder onto your clit while his fingers curl inside you at the perfect angle. you couldn’t hold back anymore, releasing all over his fingers and his face with a cry of his name. he continues thrusting his fingers inside you for a few seconds before pulling them out and licking them clean. “you taste amazing, my darling,” he tells you as you blush and turn away from him. he grabs your chin, turning your flushed face back towards him. he looks at you with utter adoration before pulling you into a gentle but passionate kiss, the remnants of your release sweet on his lips. he’s pressing his bulge against you and you can tell just how much he wants you. “dae-ho, baby, do you need me?” you question, already knowing how he would respond. “yes… please darling, let me take you,” he breathed out, voice thick with want.
soon enough, dae-ho was lining himself up at your entrance. although you’ve had him many times, you don’t think you’ll ever get used to his size. he slowly pushed himself into you, the stretch painful but you enjoyed it nonetheless. dae-ho whined slightly at the feeling— he needed you so badly and wasn’t ashamed of showing it. he bottomed out inside you, filling you up completely. he looked down at you with the sweetest, most lustful eyes you think you’ve ever seen from him. “dae-ho, i need you to move… please…” you coax him, and he immediately starts gently thrusting into you. you simultaneously let out moans at the heavenly feeling, needing each other so desperately. dae-ho’s eyes were half-lidded with desire while he started to speed up his motions, quickly moving inside you. his hands grasped at your back, needing to be touching you all over. your hands are all over him as well, mainly wandering about his toned chest which you absolutely adored. dae-ho was embarrassingly close already— it was taking all of his strength to hold himself back from finishing deep inside you. he let out soft gasps with each thrust, the feeling of your tight walls too overwhelming for him. “ah.. darling, i’m close,” he whispers. “me too dae-ho, i just need you to come inside me, please… ah dae-ho,” you gasp as he sends you closer and closer to the edge. this was the final straw for dae-ho— with a soft moan of your name, his thrusts grow erratic and he finishes inside you. he continues moving to get you to finish, a hand slipping down to your clit and rubbing circles around it. you immediately came, vision going white as dae-ho continued his movements.
he collapsed on top of you, immediately burying his face into your chest while clinging to you. you thought it was so sweet how clingy he became after sex, you never wanted it to end any differently. your hands stroked his hair while you whispered sweet praises into his ear. “dae-ho, my baby, you felt so amazing.” you kissed the top of his head repeatedly, telling him how good he did between kisses. he clung tighter to you, telling you how much he loved you. after you had laid there for a while, you got up and dressed, and dae-ho drove you guys to your favorite fast food joint. he paid, of course :))
the end~

Sweet Mornings
Kang Dae-ho x Gn!Reader
I did try to keep the reader gender neutral, but if you spot anything that's not GN please tell me so that I can fix it!
Summary: Dae-ho never fails to notice the beauty in something he has seen hundreds of times.
Warnings: No squid game, no debt, just bliss and mostly fluff, but watch out for a tiny explicit portion at the end.
Tumblr media
Dae-ho is the kind of partner who calls you beautiful no matter how you look. To him, your appearance doesn’t matter—what truly matters is that he sees your beauty in every shape, outfit, style, and moment. Due to his inability to see you as anything but perfect, Dae-ho is considered unreliable to ask if something you're wearing looks good on you.
Every time he wakes up in your apartment, he can get drunk off the sheets that carry your perfume. The lingering body heat under the soft covers, even if one of you started the day early, lulls him back to sleep. Despite regaining consciousness just moments ago, his eyelids always feel heavier when left alone in bed. The sleeping spell can only be broken if his quiet mornings are interrupted—say, by you trying to put your clothes on in the dark, waking him up for a hot breakfast, or reminding him to lock the door when you leave for work.
His favorite, however, has to be when the blinds aren’t pulled all the way, leaving a long vertical gap for sunlight to peek through. On those mornings, he’s wide awake, feeling like a child too excited to sleep before a long-awaited school trip. And can he really be blamed? Can he be judged for staying awake to witness the domesticity of waking up by your side and watching you slowly come to your senses with the help of an alarm?
He can’t help but feel desperate when you sit upright in bed, yawning and stretching before getting up, half-naked, to put on your clothes. Your fingers firmly grasp the waistband of your trousers as you slide your legs in—completely oblivious to the view you've given him. Or perhaps you do it on purpose, just to tease him afterward (He patiently awaits the day you're bold enough to do it).
In any case, he thinks of himself as better than your average man who might gawk at a strangers bum, since it is your body and movements that always leave Dae-ho mesmerized, you, his one and only.
Sometimes, he can't help but smirk and bite down on his bottom lip, all to just to stop himself from jumping on you and taking you to a certain town, which both of you visit often.
He loves every part of you. The long and soft, the battered and sensitive ones.
It was on one of those golden mornings when Dae-ho's mind came to a conclusion.
No matter how often he gets to see you, it will never be enough. His eyes trace every movement, memorizing the curve of your body, the way the morning light kisses your skin, giving it a shine like no other, the sleepy sway of your hips as you stretch. It’s almost unfair—how effortlessly you captivate him, how easily you turn an ordinary morning into something intoxicating.
And if the way his dick pulses every morning at the sight of your ass isn’t proof enough, then maybe it’s the way his breath catches when you bend over to grab your shirt. Or the way his fingers twitch with the urge to pull you back into bed, to make you forget whatever plans you had for the day and softly caress you to your most vulnerable of places.
Because no matter how many times he gets to have you, watch you, wake up next to you—it will never, ever be enough.
He’ll wake up even when he’s old and wrinkled, watching you sleep beside him, and he’ll always be grateful for the chance to witness the same beauty he’s admired his entire life. Hundreds, if not thousands, of times, he’s seen you like this—peaceful, serene, effortlessly captivating. And yet, not once has he failed to notice. Not once has he taken it for granted.

Among all these people you were literally an angel. Your blonde gentle curls bounced with every step you took when you first walked down the aisle to submit your vote.
You felt all the eyes on you but you tried to brush them off and only concentrate on your imminent future. Your expression soft but serious.
Determined you pressed down the X button and with a small grin on your face you wore the corresponding patch on your jacket before joining the others on that side of the room.
You fixed the little pink bow that tied half your hair up and you failed to notice a set of blown wide eyes staring at your petite form from the other side.
Scrutinizing and observing you with deep interest. A smirk popped up on his lips. What an intriguing little creature you were.
Such a cute and delicate flower.
And oh how much he craved you.
What was doing a little doe like you in a place like this? Full of hunters and starving men. Not a single positive thought behind those prying eyes.
Especially his.
Unfortunately for you and the others on your side, the majority had decided to vote to continue playing games and so you were stuck in that place, fighting for your life, for another day.
The crowd had now dispersed, but two factions had now formed, creating great tension in the room.
No one could have been trusted there. And you knew that.
And while you were sitting on your bed bunk, thinking about possible moves or other ways to survive, player 388 observed you from his spot on the stairs, not caring about the conversation his teammates were having.
His eyes slowly admired how the light made your golden locks shine, how small your figure was, your delicate hands and fingers playing nervously, and finally your dove-eyed eyes focused in front of you.
You were on alert.
But even if behind your docile appearance you hid a strong spirit, he felt a sudden feeling bubble up in his chest. An incessant need.
Despite not knowing you, Dae-ho wanted to assure your safety and to keep you away from any type of dangers. Especially the ones in that same dorm.
However, his sudden hobby had been interrupted when player 230 approached you with his 'cool' attitude. He knew what men like him wanted from pretty girls like you. And he surely couldn't tolerate that.
"Hey Señorita, what're you doing here all alone?" his cheerful and flirty voice woke you up from your focused planning and slowly you brought your big eyes to him, noticing the dude with the purple sparky hair. "Why? Is there a problem with it?" you questioned lightly, your voice coming out in a soft tone.
You weren't trying to flirt back or something, but you deeply disliked when people didn't like you. You constantly felt the need to be loved and adored by everybody.
The guy shook his head, chuckling amusingly and then leaned closer to you, “just wondering what a pretty doll like you was doing in a place like this” he took one of your curls and started twirling it on his finger.
You stared at his eyes, locked with yours, and immediately picked up his blown pupils boring into yours. And you understood clearly that something was wrong with that man.
But you had no strength to pull him away.
“Doll…” the guy started, now a wicked grin on his lips, his eyes shifting from your eyes to your plump lips, “I’ll be able to protect you, but—“ he stopped his words for a moment and his smile widened “it will come with a price”.
Patiently you flashed him a tight closed smile and with a swift of your hand you managed to free your locks from his grasp, pretending to fix your hair.
Dae-ho still observed from afar, although now standing from his spot and slowly ascending from the stairs with the intention to stroll near your bed bunk and intervene in case things got a little too heated. And not in a good way.
He absentmindedly smirked at your calm attempt to escape from the guy’s grip and silently cheered in his mind at your successful attempt.
Now he was only a few meters away from you, this time able to hear the interaction.
You both didn’t notice him. What a relief.
His heart beating hard and anxiously in his chest, but he kept a focused look on his face. He was ready to jump in if that drugged guy would have tried something funny.
Then he heard your soft voice, “that’s so kind. But you know what would be even kinder?” You batted your long lashes at the guy in front you, who was hanging from every word that left your plump and rosy lips.
You slightly turned your head to the side, eyeing a young small guy, probably your age, who was sitting all alone. He looked kinda pathetic.
If this strange man wanted you to be on his side so bad, then he would have done everything you suggested him. And you were also going to help that poor scared guy. How good of you.
“See that guy over there? The one all alone and scared? It seems so unfair we are all in teams, and not him, geez” you falsely let out a sad sigh, still gazing at the other player.
The purple-haired guy briefly looked where you were pointing at and then turned to you again. Wide and crazy eyes staring at you for a second time.
You sent him another tight smile, this time the corner of your lip twitched a little due to your nervousness.
The ex-marine kept his gaze locked on you, noticing how slowly you were starting to falter. Doubt and fear was gradually creeping under your skin. This time you weren’t sure you were going to get out of this situation all by yourself and thanks to your charm.
And Dae-ho understood that somehow. You were crumbling, but he was ready to help you out.
“I wish someone would be my hero—” just to make your statement look more truthful, you placed your slim fingers on his bicep, gripping at it slightly. From him, you received an enthusiastic look and an amused chuckle. “—if that someone would to go team up with him…”
Now your lips were pushed forward into a pout and that sight alone clicked something in the drugged guy.
A low hum came from him, his face even closer to yours, your foreheads only a few centimeters away from actually touching. He now really was staring into your wide doe orbs.
“If I do that…would you consider joining my team Señorita?” slowly you nodded then recomposed yourself “we’ll see” and with that the guy was out of your sight, already jogging to other side of the room to talk with that lonely player.
You relaxed your posture, which had became stiff from the moment he came near you, but you just didn’t realize till now.
Then a gentle tap on your shoulder.
You shrieked loudly but cutely (in Dae-ho’s opinion) and jumped at the contact, scared that another creep was going to pester you and make you uncomfortable.
However, when you turned around you were met with an affable face.
It was another guy, also young, but he didn’t give the same vibes as the previous one…no, this one made you feel secure and calm. Not troubled at all.
You studied the young guy with a curious stare, your orbs roaming all around his figure because too intrigued by his appearance.
He wasn’t strange, neither looked like one. But in a bizarre place like that you were expecting the most untrustworthy people playing deadly games just to feel the breeze of victory and satisfaction.
The hand he used to tap you on the shoulder was still frozen mid-air, a widen look on his face and a faint and rosy blush on his apples’ cheeks. He surely was speechless.
You cutely tilted your head, looking up at him with large eyes, “can I help you?” His gaze fixated on your lovely and round lips, his brain not comprehending any word coming from you.
Dae-ho gulped down the lump in his throat and simply refocused his attention on your face, now staring at you in the eyes like an imbecile.
Maybe that was exactly what you were thinking: what this idiot wanted from you? how you were going to get rid of him without hurting his feelings?
He was already tasting the flavor of rejection.
Then he felt your baby pink nails graze at his hand still hanging in the air and instinctively he withdrew his hand with a quick jerk, as if the contact had burned him. But in reality he was only caught off guard, not ready for your touch. He would have expected anything but the brush with your soft, pale skin.
A light gasp came from you, surprised by such reaction. It never happened to you before.
How peculiar.
Your voice reached his ears again, “are you okay?” The former marine couldn’t make a fool of himself for the second time in your presence, he had to answer and quickly. “Yes! I just…came here to check up on you! Yeah, yeah…after the conversation with that dude, Thanos” he tried to sound confident, but he himself noticed how his own voice wavered slightly or abruptly became high due to nervousness.
The quizzical expression on your face made him realize that you didn’t know who the player was (probably you didn’t pay attention to the number on his jacket) so he chuckled softly and caught his breath, ready to clear up any doubts.
But before he could do that he immediately caught how your eyes suddenly lit up, a wide smile bloomed on your face and delicately you started bouncing on your bed bunk in excitement.
“Oh i got it!” You bounced a little more and unconsciously landed closer to him, taking both his large hands in your small ones.
Dae-ho immediately took notice of the huge size difference and also tried to drink in your gentle touch.
“You mean the odd guy with the purple hair right?” Your expression was hopeful and impatient, waiting for him to answer your question and ease your doubt. He simply nodded, with no force to speak after a scene like this, his mouth dry like the desert.
When you tilted your head a bit your hair prettily shifted in the same direction, shining more brightly in the light of the room.
Now a thinking expression printed on your features.
“He made me uncomfortable, sure, but I think that I handled the situation pretty well!” You grinned up at him “after all i love helping others and that guy all alone surely needed some!”
“Did you came here also for something else?”
Did he? He wasn’t sure. He just wanted you safe in a degenerate place like that and mostly from degenerate people that took part in it.
He wasn’t one of them. He knew.
And neither were his teammates.
So he for sure knew that you would have been safe in his team if you decided to join him.
“Actually…” but he was unsure. Maybe you would have considered him on the same level as player 230. But it doesn’t hurt to try.
“Actually…I was hoping that you could join my team?”
Your already large eyes seemed to comically widen even more, making you appear cuter than you already were.
His heart leaped.
And when you were ready to give him an answer Thanos approached your petite figure again, but now he wasn’t alone.
Skipping happily behind him was a guy with long hair, a mischievous grin on his thin lips.
The former marine recognized him as player 214, Nam-gyu.
The rapper’s voice boomed through the room, “Doll! I’m back! Did you miss me?” An unsettling feeling was showed through your facial features, but you didn’t give away too much discomfort, immediately wearing the fake thin smile; kind and polite but cold as ice.
Dae-ho only admired how versatile you were. You amazed him every second that went by.
“You again! Didn’t you go recruit that poor guy on your team?” You questioned politely, slowly hoisting from your kneeled position and standing right beside Dae-ho.
Even in a mundane action you displayed such gracefulness that pulled every string of his heart.
But he noticed quickly that he wasn’t the only one.
In a flash Thanos wrapped his arm around your waist and quickly pushed you in another direction, probably where his bed bunk was situated. “We are going to have so much fun together doll! And we’ll be able to win so much money!” He beamed enthusiastically, his arm bringing you closer to his tall and slim figure.
Nam-gyu swiftly appeared on your other side, the mischievous grin still on his face but now his eyes were totally focused on your face.
An unsettling feeling bubbled in your stomach. Goosebumps on your arms due to that sickening gaze. A shaky sigh from your nose.
“Yeah…just stick with us…and you’ll have nothing to worry about” he said, engulfing your shoulders with his arm.
Now you were trapped between the two, unwillingly following them.
Slightly you managed to turn your head behind, locking your eyes with Dae-ho.
You were silently asking for help because in that moment he was the only one you truly trusted and the only one to save you from that situation.
But he hadn’t been quick enough because when he opened his mouth to interfere, you were already gone.
[...]
Panic set through your bones when the pink circle soldiers locked your legs together with the team you had been forced to join.
The second game had been announced: six-legged pentathlon.
Five minigames to play in a short amount of time; if the team ran out of time they would have been eliminated. And you all knew what that meant.
With a shaky breath you scanned the room briefly, before setting your tremulant eyes on player 388, who was already looking at you, a small smile on his lips.
He was trying to put you at ease with a simple glance, his fist raised in the air as a symbol of strenght and courage. He perceived that you could do it and that you were tough enough to succeed.
Still with your gazes interlocked he mimicked a deep breath and reluctantly you echoed him. That should have calmed you down a bit.
Your doe eyes flashed him a determined look and then you turned forward, ready to face the challenge.
Subtly, he side-eyed his teammates, hoping that they didn’t witness the secret and caring exchange you two had.
Dae-ho kept his gaze fixated on you the whole time, never tearing it away from your small figure as you walked ahead with the rest of your team.
Only once his eyes left your figure and that was when he sent a disgusted look at Thanos, who of course appeared too relaxed and out of his mind during the race.
A low growl reverberated in his chest when he saw how the purple-haired guy squished your face and made you look at his face, telling you to not fuck up.
How dare he speak to you like that? You, who didn’t deserve such treatment.
If he wasn’t in a place like this, he would have intervened in the blink of an eye.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves, and Jun-hee beside him stared up at form, a quizzical expression on her face.
Slowly and cautiously she followed his line of sight and despite her short height and her condition she immediately caught up what was happening: call it female perception.
Unfortunately she was nobody to him to share a piece of her thoughts, but maybe, in a subtle way, she could do it. Smooth and clean without raising any suspicious.
"Ehm...388?" she didn't know his name and of course they were only acquaintances, so it was only a matter of rispect and politeness. The mentioned guy turned his head towards her, his brows raised slightly in concern, "Are you okay? You don't feel good?" she kindly smiled at his gentleness and interest in her health, but she simply waved his worries away, her hand ghosting on his bicep.
"Perhaps are you okay? I see you're kinda...distressed?" Dae-ho gaped at her with an unexpected suddenness, certainly not expecting it t be so noticeable. Now it was his time to get rid of her worriment, "I'm fine, I'm fine...nothing to worry about!" but his tone didn't reassure her at all and her suspicious had been confirmed when his eyes flashed for a second towards the playing team.
"Is there anybody you care about?" she lowly whispered not wanting to draw any attention to them, even if almost everybody was too engaged on the game ahead. Dae-ho's head snapped in her direction, now his expression displaying half surprise and half concern.
If Jun-hee had managed to catch up so quickly about her behaviour, soon or later the other players too would have understood that and not only him, but you too would have been in danger.
And he wouldn't be able to endure it.
He was trying to save you, not to endanger you.
"W-what?" "In that team-- she said pointing forward-- there is someone you really care about and you are worried about them, am I right?" she muttered hushedly and the former marine only nodded at her statement.
He just wanted this nightmare to end.
He forcely rubbed his temples, a faint migraine starting to bloom in his mind. If this game wouldn't kill him first, then his anxiety would do the trick.
"Everything is going to be fine, don't worry" the girl reassured him and then brought her gaze forward again, focusing on the ending game. With a small but rousing smile she gentlu nudged his arm and pointed ahead.
He lifted his head and saw that the last game has been passed succesfully and now your team was hurrying to the finish line.
When you crossed the finish line, shouts and jubilant yells echoed throughout the room, the other players happy to see the team had passed the test and that there was hope for everyone.
Of course, your team was not the weakest, but it was certainly the least harmonious and uncoordinated of all the others.
Eyes meet.
Hearts leaped.
Even if all the players roared triumphantly they seemed to be suddenly surrounded by a sweet and innocent silence.
You beamed at him, smiling widely and flashing him your white pearls. So lovely and beautiful.
‘Thank you’ were the words your lips mouthed and in exchange you raised your closed fist as a good sign luck. He smiled back, his smile full of adoration for you.
He was really hoping to see you after that game.
However, when your team was being untied by a circle guard and then escorted out of the field, Thanos immediately circled your waist with his arm, pushing you closer to him.
A shiver went down the marine’s spine.
He needed to complete this game, and fast.
Dae-ho needed to save you from that monster’s grasp.
[…]
His team had been the last to play.
No one was present there to cheer on them, only the utter and sinister silence. The guards absent stares on their rigid figures.
But they did it. They passed the game.
All of them being able to succeed in each minigame without too many flaws.
When the doors to the main room opened, Dae-ho noticed how some of the other players let out frustrated groans at their arrive, hoping that more people have died in order to gain more money.
But that wasn’t the case.
The ex-marine’s focus although was set on the crowd ahead, trying to spot your figure anywhere. But he didn’t.
At first he was confused: you had passed, then why weren’t you there? He spotted your former team but you weren’t there either. He tried to calm himself down and distract his distressed mind a bit, following his group to their self-proclaimed spot on the bunks.
Probably you were just in the bathroom. Yeah, you were safe and just needed a moment to use the restroom, nothing drastic.
However, he couldn’t avoid eyeing occasionally at the purple-haired guy, who seemed into his own little word, moving his air in the air and whispering under his breath improvised lyrics.
Then he heard a door open. He settled his eyes on it and suddenly a huge weight had been lifted from his chest. He felt like breathing again.
Firstly he spotted your blonde hair, too unusual to avoid among the sea of dark hair, then your eyes met.
The marine felt a smile creep on his lips when he saw how your eyes lighted up in his presences internally you were practically beaming.
With scurried but silent steps you hurried yourself in his direction, trying to be unspotted by Thanos and Nam-guy. They gave you the heebie-jeebies.
And when you were close enough you literally threw yourself on him. Of course he had been caught off guard but managed to catch you quickly and engulf you in a tight squeeze.
Even if you two didn’t know each other, you felt a deep connection.
You nestled your face in the crook of his neck and at your impulsive action Dae-ho flushed quite heavily but tried to hide it from your view.
Your loving face was hidden but he still heard your muffled words, “I thought I’d never see you again” at those words he smiled warmly and unconsciously tighten his grip around your smaller figure. His touch safe and warm.
Dae-ho tried to calm the incessant beating of his heart, thumping loudly against his chest, and a shaky breath left his mouth, “I’m not going anywhere. I will protect you even if it’ll cost me my life” he murmured back in a gentle reassuring tone “I’m going to get us out of here. I promise”.
He felt your figure shift slightly under his grasp and briefly loosened his arms around you, not letting you go completely.
A hopeful expression was printed on your face, your large eyes staring up at him like he had hung up the stars in the sky, “I know…but please” you pleaded softly “let me help you. We are going to do this together”.
Dae-ho’s heart swelled at your gentle words, bringing solace in his perturbed soul.
“When we’ll get out of here…” he bit his tongue, not sure if continue or not “when we’ll get out of here I would like to shoe you my hometown and…threat you a nice dinner”.
Your rosy lips morphed into an excited grin.
“You need to be treated like a lady…and I would gladly do that, if you’ll allow me”.
Your slim arms encircled around his neck, ushering him closer to you.
“I would love that more than anything”.

Dae-ho didn't hesitate. With firm steps, he moved toward them, ignoring Eun-ji's presence behind him. His posture was steady, his eyes sharp with determination as he approached the small group gathered around their tiffins, handed out by the Pink Guards. The atmosphere was tense, filled with unspoken worries and silent calculations—everyone was still adjusting to their new reality, still trying to figure out who could be trusted.
"Sir!" he called out, his voice cutting through the quiet murmur of hushed conversations. Heads turned in his direction, some curious, others wary. "Earlier during the game, Mr. 456 here shouted 'Freeze!' and I became his fan. That was really cool. I'd like to get to know you, sirs. Please give me the chance!"
A brief silence followed, stretching uncomfortably. No one responded immediately, and the air grew slightly awkward. Some of the players exchanged glances, unsure of how to react to his sudden burst of enthusiasm. Dae-ho, never one to shy away from an awkward moment, cleared his throat and added, "Okay, I'll go first! I'm Kang Dae-ho! 'Dae' means big, and 'Ho' means tiger. So, Big Tiger!"
Seong Gi-hun looked up, startled by the unexpected energy in Dae-ho's introduction. For a brief moment, something akin to amusement flickered across his face before being replaced by the weight of exhaustion and experience. He cleared his throat, trying to mask the emotion in his voice. "I'm Seong Gi-hun," he said, his voice steady despite the weight of his past pressing down on him. "We're all in the same situation, but this time, I need to make sure we don't make the same mistakes."
Jung-bae, who had been silent until now, finally spoke. "Jung-bae," he introduced himself simply, his voice gruff as he opened his tiffin, the metallic clink of the lid filling the silence for a moment.
Player 001 smiled faintly, the wrinkles on his face shifting slightly. "You can call me Young-il." Trying to ease the tension, he added with a small chuckle, "Doesn't 'Seong' itself mean last name? Haha." His laughter was lighthearted, but it didn't land the way he had hoped. No one else laughed, and the joke faded into the cold, heavy air surrounding them.
Gi-hun nodded slowly, his gaze hardening. "I know how this works," he said, his voice dropping lower, more serious. "I've played these games before. I... I lost a lot of good people, and I'm not going to make the same mistakes again."
Dae-ho's expression shifted slightly. It was subtle, but there was something in his eyes—understanding, maybe even respect. They were both survivors, but it was clear that Gi-hun had seen more than most. The weight of his experience was not something anyone could ignore.
Just then, Player 001—still in his guise as Young-il—spoke again, breaking the silence. "My wife... she's pregnant and sick," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I need to stay alive for her. I'm all she has."
Gi-hun's expression softened, empathy washing over him like a tide. "I understand," he said quietly, his thoughts echoing with the memory of his own struggles. Everyone was here for a reason, but some of them... were trying to fix things. To make things right.
The silence stretched for a moment before Young-il chuckled again, forcing a smile. "Well, at least we know what we're all here for. But this... this is not going to be easy."
Jung-bae, who had been standing off to the side, took a slow step forward. His presence was commanding, his expression unreadable. "Hang on," he said, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
Dae-ho straightened instinctively. "Yes, sir?"
Jung-bae studied him carefully, his eyes flickering with recognition. "You were in the Marines? What was your class number?"
Dae-ho turned toward him, his gaze sharp with interest. "Yes, sir... I was in Class 1140, sir!" He rolled up his sleeve, revealing his arm tattoo to the rest. The ink was slightly faded but still distinct, a permanent reminder of the past he carried.
Jung-bae's lips curved slightly, a look of familiarity settling on his face. "Dae-ho. I knew there was something about you. Class 746 here. Let's make a good team."
A flicker of something passed between them—recognition, respect, maybe even relief. Dae-ho nodded firmly. "I won't let you down, sir!"
Jung-bae laughed, the sound deep and genuine, cutting through the tense atmosphere like a blade. "You're full of spirit."
"Yes, sir!" Dae-ho responded without hesitation, his voice strong, unwavering.
The two men exchanged a nod of understanding, a quiet but unspoken agreement passing between them. It was a bond not born of words but of experience—of knowing that, in the end, it was every man for himself, but there was strength in numbers.
For the first time since they had arrived, Dae-ho felt a little less alone.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
Eun-ji stood a short distance away, watching this interaction unfold. Her gaze lingered on Dae-ho, her expression unreadable—a mixture of love and hate. She had always been conflicted when it came to him, and now, as she watched him so effortlessly bond with the others, she felt it even stronger. With a soft sigh, she turned away and began scanning the room. She needed a backup plan. Someone she could trust.
Her eyes landed on Hyun-ju, a quiet yet observant player standing alone. Eun-ji approached cautiously, offering a small smile.
"Hey, we should stick together. This isn't going to get easier."
Hyun-ju looked up, studying her. "Yeah," she said softly. "We'll need each other if we want to survive."
Eun-ji nodded. "Agreed. We'll keep an eye on each other."
A moment of silence stretched between them before Eun-ji sighed. "I'm Kang Eun-ji, by the way."
Hyun-ju gave a small nod. "Cho Hyun-ju."
Eun-ji hesitated before speaking again.... "I'm a surgeon. My sister... she's really sick. The treatment is expensive, and I took out loans. Now, I'm in debt too."
Hyun-ju's gaze flickered with something unreadable. She hesitated, as if weighing her options, before finally speaking.
"I... I know what it's like to go into debt for something that matters," she admitted. "I had to go through a lot of surgeries. They weren't covered by insurance. I took out loans, and now I'm drowning in them."
Eun-ji blinked, taking in Hyun-ju's words. She understood the hesitation, the guarded way she spoke. Hyun-ju was choosing to share just enough—but not everything.
"That must've been tough," Eun-ji said gently.
"It was," Hyun-ju murmured. Then, as if wanting to move on, she added, "I don't really talk about it much, but... you told me about your sister. It only felt fair."
Eun-ji studied her for a moment before speaking, her voice softer than before. "You're beautiful, you know that?"
Hyun-ju's eyes widened slightly. She opened her mouth, then closed it, at a rare loss for words.
Eun-ji smiled. "I mean it. You really are."
A shaky breath left Hyun-ju's lips as she looked away, blinking a few times. "No one's called me that in... a long time," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "Not since I started living as myself."
Eun-ji's expression softened. She heard the weight behind those words, the quiet strength it must have taken to say them. "Well, then, I'll just have to remind you more often."
Hyun-ju let out a quiet chuckle, but it was different this time—softer, almost vulnerable. She exhaled slowly, as if letting down a small part of her guard.
Eun-ji hesitated, then took a breath. "I'd like to call you Unnie... if that's okay with you."
Hyun-ju's lips parted slightly, caught off guard. Then, after a moment, she gave a small, almost shy smile. "I... I'd like that."
"Good," Eun-ji said with a nod.
Hyun-ju stared at her for a moment before shaking her head with a small, amused smile. "You really are something else, Eun-ji," she murmured, this time not as a passing remark, but as a quiet acknowledgment of what was forming between them—something neither of them had expected but perhaps both of them needed.
Hyun-ju's gaze flickered with something unreadable, but she didn't say anything about her own reasons. Instead, she hesitated before asking, "I noticed you and Player 388 earlier. Looked like an argument. If it's too personal, you don't have to tell me."
Eun-ji hesitated. She barely knew Hyun-ju, but something about her felt trustworthy. "It's complicated," she admitted. "We... have history."
Hyun-ju nodded in understanding, not pressing for more details. "Fair enough. Just know, if you ever need to talk, I'm here."
Eun-ji gave a small smile. "Same goes for you."
As they stood side by side, the weight of the upcoming games settled upon them. Survival wasn't just about strength—it was about trust, alliances, and knowing who to count on when the time came.
The true trial was about to begin.

dad!husband!kang dae-ho x f!wife!mother!reader
apart of the kang family series
Tumblr media
warnings: tiny angst, babies being babies
Tumblr media
the soft hum of the baby monitor is the only thing filling the silence in the living room.
your large tv plays a movie neither you or your husband are paying attention to, the volume lowered to avoid waking the girls. you're curled up on the far end of the couch, a blanket thrown over your legs, while dae-ho sits at the opposite end, legs stretched out but tense.
it was supposed to be your night...the first in what felt like forever. the plan was simple:
put the kids to bed, watch a movie, maybe reconnect a little, but that fragile peace shattered the moment seo-ah screamed.
“mommy! there’s a monster!” your toddler's tiny voice echoes from down the hall, high-pitched and terrified.
you close your eyes for a beat, inhaling deeply through your nose before exhaling slowly.
“she was asleep ten minutes ago,” you murmur, rubbing your temple.
dae-ho gives you a look...equal parts sympathy and exhaustion...before standing up.
“i’ll go—”
before he can finish, byeol’s wail pierces through the baby monitor, sharp and heart-wrenching.
“no, i’ll get byeol,” you say, already untangling yourself from the blanket.
“she won’t settle unless i hold her.”
dae-ho hesitates, his shoulders slumping before he turns toward seo-ah’s room.
“we’ll figure it out,” he mutters, but the weariness in his voice betrays him.
it takes nearly half an hour to get both girls calm again. seo-ah clings to you, her little arms wrapped tightly around your neck as she refuses to let dae-ho near her.
“no, mommy hugs me! not daddy,” she pouts, her face buried in your shoulder.
“seo-ah, daddy loves you too,” dae-ho tries, but she only clings tighter.
you sigh, bouncing byeol gently in your arms as her cries soften to hiccups, while seo-ah clings to your waist.
“it’s just a phase,” you whisper, though you’re not sure if it’s for him or for yourself.
when you finally settle back on the couch, it feels like the weight of the world has landed on your chest. byeol is in her bassinet, miraculously asleep again, and seo-ah is in her bed, though who knows for how long.
dae-ho sits next to you this time, closer, but there’s a space between you that feels cavernous.
“i miss you,” he says softly, fingers brushing against yours.
your throat tightens.
“i miss you too.”
he leans in, pressing a gentle kiss to your temple, but the intimacy feels almost foreign now.
months of exhaustion, of putting the kids first, of barely surviving day-to-day...it all catches up in that moment.
“sometimes it feels like we’re just… roommates,” you admit, voice cracking.
dae-ho’s jaw tightens, but he nods.
“i know. i hate it too.”
tears prick at your eyes, but you blink them away.
“when does it get better? when do we get time for us?”
he pulls you into his arms, his warmth both comforting and painful.
“soon. i promise.”
“you keep saying that,” you whisper, your hands fisting into his shirt.
“but when is soon?”
he hesitates before answering, his voice barely above a whisper.
“next weekend. jia’s coming to take the girls. for the whole weekend.”
jia = dae-ho's second oldest sister
you pull back, staring at him in disbelief.
“what?”
he smiles, though it’s tinged with sadness.
“i wanted it to be a surprise, but… yeah. just us for friday until monday. no kids, no distractions.”
something inside you cracks open...a mix of relief and overwhelming gratitude.
“dae-ho…”
he cups your face gently.
“we’ll get through this. i know it’s hard right now, but we’ll find our way back.”
you nod, tears finally spilling over.
“i just want us again.”
“we will,” he promises, sealing it with a soft kiss that feels like the first drop of rain after a long drought.
however, the days leading up to jia’s visit drag on. it is filled with the kind of exhaustion that seeps into your bones. mornings start the same, seo-ah padding into your room before the sun rises, her small feet thumping against the floorboards as she climbs onto the bed.
she squeezes herself between you and dae-ho, her warm little body pressing tightly against yours while shoving him to the edge.
“mommy, cuddles,” she murmurs, already curling into you, her hands clutching your shirt like you might slip away if she lets go.
you glance over at dae-ho, who watches with soft eyes but a tired smile. he reaches over to brush seo-ah’s hair out of her face, but she swats his hand away, her little pout forming instantly.
“no, just mommy.”
the rejection sits heavy between you, even though it’s become routine. dae-ho chuckles under his breath, masking the sting, but you see it in the way his shoulders drop.
“okay, princess,” he murmurs, voice laced with gentle defeat, “just mommy.”
byeol’s wail from her nursery cuts through the morning peace moments later, crackling through the baby monitor on the nightstand.
you sigh, your head falling back against the pillow, eyes closing for a brief second of stolen stillness before you’re back on your feet, seo-ah still clinging to your leg as you watch dae-ho get up from the bed and care for his youngest baby.
throughout the week, you and dae-ho try to carve out moments for yourselves when you can still. especially when the girls miraculously nap at the same time, a rarity that feels like winning the lottery.
one afternoon, the house is eerily quiet. you and dae-ho sit at the kitchen table, hastily throwing together sandwiches, both of you exchanging glances filled with the unspoken hope of just being together for a little while.
“this is nice,” you whisper, taking a bite of your sandwich, savoring the simplicity of eating without interruptions.
dae-ho reaches over the table, fingers brushing over your hand, thumb tracing slow circles.
“i miss this...miss us,” he says softly, eyes meeting yours with that familiar warmth.
you smile, though it’s tinged with sadness.
“i do too.”
the reality of having young children.
as his hand tightens around yours, a shrill cry pierces through the monitor. byeol is awake again...crying so hard her tiny hiccups echo through the speaker.
you close your eyes, exhaling slowly as the moment evaporates.
“i’ll go,” dae-ho offers, already pushing his chair back. before he can stand, another scream rings out from seo-ah’s room.
“mommy! byeol woke me up! i was sleeping!” she yells, her voice filled with frustration.
you pinch the bridge of your nose, the brief peace crumbling around you.
“i’ll take seo-ah,” you mutter, already rising. the sandwiches sit half-eaten on the table.
the nights are harder. after hours of wrestling the girls into sleep, byeol fussing endlessly, seo-ah demanding one more story, one more hug...you and dae-ho collapse onto the bed, bodies heavy with exhaustion.
the unspoken plan was to finally be intimate tonight, since you guys haven't had sex in a while
now, lying there, the silence stretching between you, neither of you moves.
“I wanted to,” you murmur into the darkness, turning your head to face him.
“but i’m so tired.”
dae-ho is big spooning you, and his hand reaches for yours under the covers by your waist, fingers lacing through yours.
“me too,” he admits, “i’m sorry.”
“don’t be.” your voice cracks, emotion bubbling up.
it isn’t just about the lack of sex...it’s about the emotional distance, the way life has swallowed both of you whole.
you feel his thumb gently brushing over your knuckles.
“it won’t be like this forever,” he promises, but it feels hollow, even though you know he means it.
“i know,” you whisper back.
instead of needed intimacy, you both fall asleep, hands still intertwined, the space between you filled with love and longing, even if it feels buried.
throughout each day, seo-ah remains glued to you, her possessiveness growing stronger each day. she watches every interaction between you and dae-ho like a hawk, her little brows furrowing whenever he leans in for a kiss or wraps an arm around your waist.
“no, stop it! that’s my mommy!” she declares one afternoon when dae-ho kisses your cheek in the living room.
she storms over, wedging herself between you two, her arms wrapped tightly around your legs.
“seo-ah,” you crouch down, brushing her hair back, “daddy loves mommy too.”
“but i love mommy more,” she pouts, clutching your face in her tiny hands as you sit on the floor.
“only i can kiss mommy.”
dae-ho lets out a soft laugh, though there’s a pang in his eyes.
“well, i guess i’ve been replaced,” he teases, but you hear the ache beneath the joke.
you sigh, pulling seo-ah into your lap while reaching for dae-ho’s hand.
“no one’s replaced, okay? we all love each other.”
your oldest daughter just nestles deeper into your arms, content to have you to herself while dae-ho watches from the side, trying to hide how much he misses having you for himself.
hopefully byeol isn't this possessive of you too.. he thought.
by the end of the week, the night before jia comes to take care of the girls... the exhaustion feels unbearable. the house is filled with the constant sounds of crying, laughter, and the endless demands of two little ones who need you both for everything.
you and dae-ho pass each other like ghosts, existing in the same space but rarely connecting, every moment focused on the girls.
you don’t realize how fragile you’ve been holding it all together until dae-ho comes into the room one evening, wiping his hands on a dish towel, and says,
“jia will be here to come get the girls tomorrow."
you nod,
"okay."
next part, "aunts and nieces," connects to the next morning from this moment (yes, smut will be in the next part)
