Liliana had been staring at the same page for over three hours now and she still could not comprehend the words on it. The headache was growing even more painful and she let out a frustrated groan. She leaned back in her chair and stared up at the dark ceiling where the dim lamp flickered with the dancing flames trapped within the lamp's glass confines.

She knew what she was reading, she did. But for some reason, her brain would not allow her to understand it and it was making her want to gnaw the corner of the table she was sitting at. She surmised that it was one of those days where she was unfocused and her brain disallowed her to do anything involving the use of brain power. Which was fair, she had recently come back from a long trip hunting down a few creatures for some gil, and so she was downright exhausted. But she would have thought she'd have some energy to read a stupid book.

Clearly, she was wrong.

With a heavy sigh, Liliana shut the book and got up. The young Au Ra woman dragged herself over to the soft bed and flopped back down before making herself comfortable underneath the covers. Hopefully, her brain won't be such a drama queen tomorrow.

hector's childhood is something he doesn't talk about, but before he was put into the program, he had a semi-decent one with his dad, a bookstore owner named ovidius. when the military started rounding up children in his apartment complex to be test subjects for the program, ovidius took hector and fled the city to live out in the wilderness. hector's childhood was a perilous time spent hunting game, foraging, and trying to survive the subzero temps of the ilsabardian mountains. he couldn't hide out in the forests for long, however, as they were eventually caught and hector was taken back to the capitol by force. his father couldn't fight back and was killed as a result

because of his echo augmentation, achille has lost the ability to sleep. he resorts to an extreme form of daydreaming where he 'sleeps' with his eyes open. he can be found in strange places doing this, and it can be disturbing to stumble upon at times. even so, achille's fully aware of his surroundings and likes playing pranks on people who think they can poke or prod him

Alien crewmate: are they not poisonous? Why would you eat something that gives such a strong reaction? Your eyes are leaking excessively.

Human crewmate: listen, onions are the best vegetable, okay? Some people can't eat them raw but they're fucking delicious cooked. They make literally any dish better. You just have to get through the pain of cutting them first.

Iskra eir Baelsar: lore dump

Alright, since people are getting interested in her, lets start with some back story. (apologies as this gets a bit long)

@primamchorus @zylphiacrowley @dragonsongmakhali @kanehon since you all expressed interest.

Iskra was a simple farm girl from a remote area between Dalmasca and the Skatay range. Living a fairly pleasant life learning to live off the land and was a natural hunter, learning some things from the Viera who would travel down from the mountains.

When the Garlean Empire started their second attempt to get to Nagxia and pushing into Dalmasca, a small unit of Garleans that had gotten lost came across the farm Iskra's family lived on. They had no idea who these soldiers were as news of the conflict starting with Dalmasca hadn't reached very far yet, so they provided food and shelter for these lost people until their main host could recover them.

Dalmascan scouts witness the farmers giving shelter to their enemy and marked them as collaborators. While Iskra was out on a hunt, the scouting party attacked and razed the farmstead. Seeing the smoke from the burning fields, Iskra rushed home just in time to see her parents cut down trying to defend their home. Something insider her broke. Rather than be consumed by her emotions they were instead shut off. With cold efficiency, she hunted and slaughtered every Dalmsacan that attacked her home. Only then did she allow herself to grieve.

Drawn by the fires, a Garlean patrol craft lands and investigates finding the young woman sitting on what remained of the stoop of her house with a pile of Dalmascan corpses piled up nearby. While telling them of the events that transpired she learns of the building war with Dalmasca. Iskra asks to join them to enact vengeance on the nation that killed her family.

While serving as a conscript, Iskra quickly found her calling when placed on an intelligence mission. The results of which caught the eye of a visiting legatus, Gaius van Baelsar, who has Iskra transferred to the XIV legion. With even more successful missions under he belt, Gaius devises a strategy not only get Iskra a shot at the Frumentarium Academy but a push to the head of the line. Gaius formally adopts Iskra as his daughter. With fully citizenship and the personal recommendation of a renown legatus, Iskra is accepted and heads to the academy in Garlemald.

Academy life is difficult as she finds her self often held to different standards than her pure-blood Garlean counterparts as well as political meddling from those that think she doesn't belong. Despite this she still managed to graduate at the head of her class, however she gets assigned as a data analyst operating from the consulate in Kugane. Politics.

While in Kugane, the consulate found itself with a leek. Iskra managed to track the leak to a food stall vendor in the nearby markets. This vendor was actually a Doman Shinobi attempting to get the Garleans removed from Hingashi. She befriended the man, never letting slip she was on to him and once he let his guard down she slit his throat. The brass, being thoroughly impressed, finally make her a field operative (which I've talked a little about before in [this] post). Finding herself back in Dalmasca as part of a new counter insurgency unit weeding out the more dug in resistance fighters. It's here that she first meets a Turali man named Thiago who is attached to another unit. They only cross paths a couple times but she finds him obnoxious.

Before her tour is complete, she gets pulled from the field by Gaius and is placed on a new long term deep cover assignment to infiltrate Ala Mhigo and prepare it for invasion...

Zara's people have a tradition of when setting out on a long voyage or important mission, their community tattoo half their body, as a reminder of home. With the other half being tattooed on their return as celebration.

With their people all dead before they could return, he is now the last of their kind, and carries the tradition on his very body.

Royal Librarian, scribe, and overall assistant in all matters, Zara is generally quiet, but kind and very focused.

so 13/14 since I'm not sure which X'vahl is >.>

For the Pre-Dawntrail ask game! X'vahl is canonically a bard, but he does have some vague experience with magic so I get to think about how to answer both. :3

13. for the canon casters: what does casting magic feel like to your wol? how does being "out of mana" feel?

So X'vahl's main experience with magic is actually because he has like… vaguely dabbled in astromancy. After losing Haurcehfaunt and being powerless to try to heal him (though it would've been a fruitless endeavor even if he did know how to heal at the time), he found the closest healing magic guild and tried to learn the art and it just happened to be the Astrologian's guild in Ishgard. He is… still not great at it to be honest and using magic is something he's not used to so he feels really drained afterwards. He's also not great at managing his mana, so when he runs out he's out of commission for at least the rest of the day, if he was already exhausted, he can be out for longer than that even.

14. for the physical fighters: how does it feel when they do those impossible moves? the twirls, the jumps? do they supplement with aether? dynamis? is it purely physical or is something else involved?

This is X'vahl's wheelhouse. He's pretty physically fit already because he does workouts in the mornings if he can (which usually consists of some stretching, a run, and basically yoga) on top of doing archery training sometimes when he gets bored, feels like he needs it, or just feels antsy and wants to fire off some arrows at something. He would tell you that the fancy flips and jumps are his own strength because he doesn't realize that he subconsciously supplements his own strength with aether.

Figured it was about time to make a proper intro post.

-- Recently I split into a proper side-blog for all things XIV. I used to post them to @starlightstripes along with a bunch of other things. Likes and follows will come from my main @kanehon

-- OOC, I go by he or they pronouns. I RP in game, on Discord, and over the years have used various other platforms for it. English isn't my first language and there may be hiccups.

-- I don't view any of my characters as The WoL, for me going through the MSQ with them is at best, a fun AU possibility. Or in some cases, a hilarious "They would never" (Looking at you, Cain)

Ruuj Foixe - Tall, strong, tattooed red-haired Veena. One of Cedrik's former wards along with Crenic. Rael's older brother. Extremely devoted husband and caring father.

Nuriel Hailstorm - Freckled Veena. Stubborn, rebellious, extremely kind and self-sacrificing.

Algol and Mira Flamekeeper - Rava twins with an affinity for fire and chaos. And tormenting Rumare. Share the brain cell between the two of them.

C'haron Nyx - Mixed Seeker/Keeper adventurer. Friendly, good naturated, wears an arm prosthetic made by his sister (Styx Umbra) and will take it off for the bit.

The group finally got to see Ocha’s absolutely fucked up Wild Shape.

She’s only ever turned into this accidentally twice now, and she doesn’t know what the hell it is other than very uncomfortable.  Her grandmother, her wizard friend, and a few people in the crowd seemed to know what it was.

Kanehon helped me out on the design and colors big time, go show them some love.
