Iisraeli uudiseid
Iisraeli väitel on Hamasi vastu Rafah's võit saavutatud.
Hesbollahil on kuuldavasti 200 000 raketti.
Sõda Gaza sektoris Hamasi vastu on kestnud juba peaaegu aasta aega. Gaza sektor on hävitatud. Ligi 2 miljonit inimest on kodutuks jäetud. Ligi 50 000 inimest on hukkunud.

But for a revolution to happen, we will all have to break out of our own mental kettles, because it’s not going to get any better. It’s about to get a lot worse. And it’s up to us to make sure that our enemies suffer just as much as we will.

VO: Legal scholar Cheryl L. Harris, in her very important text “Whiteness as Property,” argues that the ultimate property in society is whiteness. And for many white folks, especially in this country in 2020, [whiteness] may be the only property they own. Part of why so many have come out to the street this time is because they realize that the wages of whiteness have gotten really low. It’s important to understand that whiteness and property are inextricable from each other: without one there cannot be the other. We tend to think of property as tangible things or commodities, but it also includes rights, protections, and customs of possession passed down and ratified through law. Whiteness emerges as the race of people who are neither Indigenous nor enslavable—national identities are increasingly collapsed around the distinctions of slave/free and black/white.
So when black folks rise up and attack property, they’re also attacking whiteness. That is an understanding that goes back to the plantation: when you attack your status as property, you attack whiteness as domination over you.
...
Yes. Whiteness only exists as the condition under which you can oppress black and Indigenous people. That’s the identity of whiteness. There is nothing [else] there. The peace of whiteness is a peace of the grave. It needs to be abolished—and if we’re talking about abolishing whiteness, we’re also talking about abolishing the police. Police evolved from slave patrols, slave catchers, colonial overseers (in the Caribbean as well as Ireland), and as anti-riot forces designed to control new urban non-white populations. The earliest modern police force in the world was in Charleston, South Carolina: the City Guard. It existed mostly to control and terrorize the quarters where “hired out” enslaved people lived at some remove from their plantations and enslavers, and thus represented some small amount of autonomy, and the possibility of rebellion or organization—which was a threat to the white establishment.

Kuna me polnud juba päris pikalt merevees ujumas käinud, tahtsime kindlasti ka randa sulistama minna.

Teen Vogue Talks American Values: “White Supremacy and Capitalism”
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Does Teen Vogue actually ever talk about fashion anymore? We’re not sure, but it sure seems like every time we hear about this decrepit publication, it’s because they’ve gone overboard in describing President Trump as a Nazi, telling their teen readers that racism is in their blood, or, as is the case today, deeming America a hopelessly reprehensible nation. We’re sure there’s a readership out there that appreciates this claptrap, but man, we would honestly hate to meet those people.
The online magazine’s latest foray into nationalistic self-loathing came in the form of an essay by columnist Kandist Mallett. Called “There’s No Such Thing As a United America,” Mallett dedicated her piece to bashing a country that was founded “through the genocide of Indigenous peoples” and profited “through the enslavement of Africans.”
“At its core, America’s values are white supremacy and capitalism,” she proclaimed. “That is true no matter who has been in office.”
Mallett took a moment to slam Joe Biden for offering up the possibility of a “united America,” telling readers that it was nothing more than “nationalist propaganda.”
“Americans have never been united,” she wrote, “and have been kept apart and pitted against one another by the state. From geographic segregation to immigration bans and racist policing, the U.S. has privileged the lives and security of some residents at the expense of others.”
What a joy it must be to live with these kinds of sick ideas in one’s head. How these people can even get themselves out of bed in the morning, much less pen seething essays, is a mystery. We can only assume that it is connected in some way to the exploding popularity of legal marijuana.
“Why should people who have been systematically oppressed — and who have struggled against the government for true freedom — be asked to hold hands with their oppressors?” Mallett laboriously continued. “Why are we still acting like we can get along with these people — or would we even want to? The only political unity that we should be trying to strive for is with those who are trying to build the world we actually need.”
We have some doubts as to whether teen girls are actually reading this nonsense, but maybe that’s just our own bright-eyed optimism winning out over the cold, hard reality of the world. The idea that a whole generation is going to grow up internalizing these poisonous political viewpoints is simply too depressing to consider.

Except they very well do, otherwise people wouldn’t voluntarily seek rental units.
The place a downpayment on a house that they didn’t build, don’t live in it, and rent it out so they can pay off that mortgage and eventually make profit
What you are trying to describe is providing the financial capital, which is a necessary service to society as most individuals and construction companies lack the necessary capital to fund the home constructions themselves. Secondly, you are making a lot of assumptions as many rental properties do not end up being profitable.
Small business do a similar thing but they make their money through actually providing a good or service
If you don’t think it’s an actual good or service, then explain why people actively choose to pursue them over outright building or purchasing their own home. It provides flexible no-longer term commitment home living, which myself and so many others intentionally pursue.
Landlords provide a house or apartment that would have existed if they didn’t own it and jack up the prices so they can pay off the mortgage as quickly as possible so they can see profit
According to whom? One of the main drivers of construction companies to build apartment complexes and stand alone homes (especially neighborhoods) is to sell to a third-party business (B2B). If we pretend for a minute that landlords didn’t exist, then the alternative would be that they would require the customer to purchase the home outright via some form of long-term financing (mortgage) or sign a rent-to-own (long-term and typically higher than normal rental payment) agreement, which means a significant portion of the population would be negatively impacted.
If the renters are the ones paying off the mortgage, and are the ones that actually live in the house, I think an ideal society would give that person ownership rights, and landlords would not really exist.
Sure, if they go sign a long-term agreement and accept all risks of home ownership. As I said before, I’m not opposed to people taking on rent-to-own lease agreements or outright purchasing the home themselves through some financial means, but what Kandist and you are describing is that you want all of the pros of rental (lower monthly cost, no long-term commitment, less risk, etc.) and none of the tradeoffs, which is naïve and childish.
I don’t really care if the landlord is taking a risk
Well that’s kinda the point, risk is a major element of economics and financial management, so the fact that you’re pretending like it doesn’t exist, somewhat discredits your claim because risk management in itself is a major service to society.
into a position of extreme power over the livelihood of their tenants for profit (most landlords abuse that power)
Except they don’t. The worst that can happen is that they can find you violating your lease agreement and then submit an ordinance of eviction notice, giving you 30 days to leave the property. As for “most landlords abuse that power”, are you basing that off of some statistic or just your personal experience?
in return offer nothing to society
If you believe so, then just don’t rent. There are alternatives.
Most landlords pay handy-men to fix the big things, while it’s up to the tenant to clean and maintain the home.
Yes and those “big things” quite often require significant financial capital, such as plumbing, roof, termites, etc. As for the tenant’s responsibilities, they are expected to clean, but not really “maintain” the home other than basic tenant responsibilities (don’t leave water on the floor, let faucets drip in the cold temperatures, etc.)
A lot of landlords don’t do squat besides get a check.
And pay all of the associated costs of operating a rental property:
Scheduling and paying for home repairs/improvements
Responsible for marketing/advertising of the rental property to get tenants
Responsible for costs regardless if a tenant is occupying or not.
Responsible for any natural disaster or criminal activity affecting the property
Responsible for any of the shared facilities (pool, laundry, playground, surrounding landscape, etc.)
Etc.

Inspiration is one of the most powerful tools for revolution. It’s so rare, and can’t be inorganically reproduced. It’s so rare that, when it happens, we try to hold on to it as long as we can and fight against anyone who tries to destroy it. I’d found myself restricted by my own ideas of what was possible. What I’ve realized is that the physical kettle lingers with you, creating another layer of trauma from the police.

Elasime ka m6nda aega sellises v2ikses linnas nagu Weewaa. Elasime ühes kohalikus hostelis kust me igapäev siis ka t66le käisime. Toa eest maksime renti nädalas! 270 aud.
