would kanabun have participated and endorsed imperial japan's horrific war crimes? because hes still pretty young and it's extremely likelt that like mcuhisute, he was indoctrinated to hate "enemy" countries and beleive those innocents deserved it.

He's young and Japan does an extremely good job of minimizing the atrocities they've committed. From what I've read, and take this with a grain of salt, back in Showa era Japan fierce national pride was instilled in children at a very young age. Toy guns and such were used to soften boys to the idea of serving in the military, and there was a lot of anti-Chinese sentiment being spread everywhere. Plus Japan worked hard to dehumanize enemy countries so when those same boys got conscripted they were already primed to mow down the "enemy" without a second thought. So I imagine someone like Kanabun could have easily been taken in by this rhetoric, but because he's a child he wouldn't understand what it all means or grasp what's actually happening. Much like a child with racist parents will parrot that racism to other children, it's not so much they actually /believe/ it as it's all they've ever known in their tiny bubble.

I will allow though that in the context of the manga Kanabun is living on the fringes of society and doesn't appear to be going to school. Given his personality, he'd probably still hold some prejudiced beliefs, but wouldn't give a fuck about the war or giving his life for his country. He seems the type to uphold his own personal freedom above all. Unlike Muchisute who I headcanon did serve time and saw action solely because he was older, though just as hedonistic and self-centered.

I think in a modern au the circus would be a YouTube channel. Like mr beast. Arashi would be mr beast and post stuff like ‘last one to hit Midori wins 100 bajillion dollars’. Kanabun would be the fan favourite who later leaves the channel and goes solo. And then the friend group has a major fallout and the channel goes to shit because everyone leaves. Midori would make a call out video 😭😭 and I think Beni would be her #1 supporter (bc she becomes nice to her at the end of the movie/manga). Muchi would be the guy that just went missing with no trace and everyone makes theories about where he is. I think Masa would get involved in like breaking into someone’s house or beating up a fan, leading him to get sent to prison. Akaza would make a shitty mid gaming channel and post among us or something.

Antis will Stan Griffith, hisoka or even kanabun and then get mad when you like muchisute. If it's morally acceptable to like bun, hisoka and Griffith, since theyre not real, why is muchisute an exception?

The only explanation I’ve heard from an anti is that, get this, it’s because Hisoka did one good thing to help Gon or something??? And that makes him a better person?? I don’t remember what it was and I haven’t read/watched HxH yet. And bc his character had more depth than Muchisute?

Ok, so, you think it’s morally wrong to like Muchisute bc… you don’t think his character is as well developed as the other two???

Me liking Muchisute for his character is also my opinion? So, shouldn’t we just leave each other alone?

You’re entitled to dislike Muchisute as a character, hell, you’re entitled to dislike any of these characters as a result of being disgusted by their actions, but you are not entitled to accuse me or anyone else of being a terrible person bc I find more depth in his character.

You can either leave it alone bc it’s fiction or dislike all of these characters for being bad people. You can’t give one or the other special treatment.
