Kamen Rider Wizard: Festival of Fate - Chapter 1 "The Invitation"
Rarely was there mail for Wajima’s antiques. Aside from the generic bills like water, electricity and rent, never did a letter ever arrive to one of the three residents who took refuge there. It isn’t like Haruto nor Koyomi had any parents to send them sweet notes detailing the mundane intricacies of life, and the gift of knowledge asking for a novel in return. Questions like: How is school? Are you eating well? Any girlfriends? Neither of them have ever written a letter of the sort, so mail was a bit of a foreign concept. Besides, even if Koyomi did have family out there, because of course she has to - then how would they ever know she was residing here in Tokyo? It was the largest city in the world, you may spend years searching for a lost relative. Aside from their allies, Haruto and Koyomi were two people who may very well be shadows to the world. Two lost souls in a sea of faceless figures.
At least they had each other, after all. How long has it been now? Eight months? It’s been nearly a year since they met on that beach that fateful day. A lot has happened. Along the way they’ve met new friends, made new enemies and throughout their daily triumphs they have become stronger. Not only Haruto with his magic, but Koyomi in discovering her will to not just survive - to live. In each other and in their allies the duo has newfound hope, and no longer are either of them alone to deal with the curse of being survivors of the Sabbath. What was once a valiant venture has become a routine, and fear has turned into comfort in routine. Save one person, save the world.
But what if a world outside of their scope existed? Would their comfort turn back into fear, and spiral into despair? If that world beckoned the question: is magic a gift, or merely a well masked curse, would Haruto and Koyomi - would all of them be able to climb out from the hole of doubt and embrace the light once more? If magic is a curse, and stands as a natural force then what is the true nature of the world itself? A canvas to paint whatever your heart desires, or a cruel cage of fate that twists every free turn around your neck with the only release offered in suffocation being the clarity that your destiny was rigged from the start? There were times when Haruto himself wondered if being a wizard was a choice or not. After all, the driver was passed down to him by the White Wizard. He was chosen as the wizard, but then again… It is his choice to act with it.
How much of Haruto Soma and his fate truly belonged to him?
Perhaps, the new world may hold his answer. In the form of an invitation to be exact, a vanilla coloured letter with a primrose seal.
“A letter?” Haruto asked, Koyomi handing him the envelope. “That’s not something we see everyday.”
“No,” Koyomi shook her head. “It came in the mail this morning while you were out hunting a phantom.”
“Are you sure this isn’t for Wajima-san?” He inspected it more closely. Holding it up to the light, he hoped that the material would be thin enough to see inside. Unfortunately, it was not. Its material is too thick, and although looking like paper, feels much more like ephemera.
“I can’t tell.” Koyomi sighed, resting her elbow against the back counter. “This could become troublesome…”
“It’s just as you said.” Haruto smirked, snapping in her direction, his index finger pointed right at her gloomy frown. “We can’t tell, right?”
Without another word, he carefully removed the primrose seal. He handed it to Koyomi, much to her dismay. A kind gesture, but she wasn’t in the mood to be flirted with. “What’s this for?” She asked.
“It fits you.” Haruto shrugged. “Man, this thing feels ancient…” Little did the young man know he was much closer than he imagined. As he inched his fingers towards the seams of the envelope a bright light enveloped the room! “I can’t see a thing!!” He shouted. The bright light shifted colors, integrating the scheme of a rainbow and blasted itself in figures of waves and dots all around the walls. On instinct, Haruto dived behind the couch, and Koyomi picked up a frying pan.
It levitated in the air and spun around rapidly, the beams of light almost acting like bullets with how quickly they spat against the wall. It wouldn’t harm you, of course, but it would turn you into a different colour! All objects on Wajima’s shelf, ancient magical antiques were now discoloured mashes of shapes. “Haruto!” Koyomi screamed in reassurance of his safety. She didn’t dare to peek from beneath the counter.
“I’m OK!” He shouted back.
Suddenly, the doors to Wajima’s shop opened up.
“Good morning!” It was Shunpei Nara, strolling in without a care in the world and no knowledge of the catastrophe that lie before him.
“Oi, Haruto, Koyomi-chan!!” Who was the unfortunate soul behind him? Rinko Daimon, of course. Before either of them knew what was going on, they were flogged with several bullets of energy that shot right through them. After one last flash of light the storm was over.
“Are you two okay?!” Quickly, Haruto rushed to their side.
“Am I… dying Haruto-san?” Shunpei asked in a weary voice. He looked weak, and frail whilst he clung tightly onto the young sorcerer’s collared jacket. The end was near for his assistant. That was it, wasn’t it, huh? To die just like that. Suddenly, without time to think back on his many life regrets. Well, he had a nice time. It sucks that it had to be cut short so soon, before Shunpei could perform real magic himself.
He’s had a good life.
“No.” Haruto said. “Not even close, you seem fine.” He helped him get to his feet. “Although… You might want to take a look in the mirror. You too, Rinko-chan.”
“What, did I get something on my face?” She clasped at her cheeks, rubbing them up and down to ensure that there was nothing present, or that she wasn’t oddly misshapen from being slapped to the floor by the pelting of beams. Slowly, Rinko rose to her feet. Anxiety coursed through her veins as she came head to the frame of the shelf mirror. Why was everyone staring at her with such restraint in their hearts?
Rinko turned around without another thought. She screamed.
~
“I think the colour looks great on you, Rinko-chan.” Shunpei whispered encouragingly, trying not to tick her off. Blonde suited her. It really brought out the fire in her eyes, or maybe that was just the unwavering fury. “Of course you’d say that!” She shouted, twirling the brindles in her hair in a dim manner. “You look like a rainbow!”
“Doesn’t he always?” Koyomi asked, watching from afar. It was then that Haruto came back into the main room carrying a box labelled only as PHYSICAL TRANSFORMATION.
“Here,” He reached in and tossed a few random assortment of rings out. “Try them on and let’s see what happens.”
“A-ah!” Shunpei barely caught his batch, having to dive right over the table. “You have to be more careful with this!!” He cried out, his heart nearly dropping into his gut. “Mr. Wajima instructed us not to go back into his closet next to the workshop.”
“Maybe for you, because you’re an apprentice.” Haruto said smugly. “Besides, we can’t exactly wait around for him all day.”
“Are you sure those rings can help?” Koyomi had her pan by her side in case it all went awry.
“We can’t tell.” He snickered.
“You should stop saying that…” She sighed. They tried out the rings one by one. Wajima didn’t exactly label them, as he was the main man handling all of their equipment up until lately. It’d been only a few weeks since the old man had decided to take upon the klutzy assistant as his apprentice in being a ringsmith. It’s been a rough start, and most of his rings have yet to do anything substantial, but if Shunpei was a man of anything, he was one of resilience and ambition. His love for magic was unrivalled, surpassing the likes of Haruto. One day, he would be a brilliant craftsman - even if he had a lot to learn.
“Let’s try this one out.” Haruto suggested, handing it to Rinko. With some reluctance, she tried it on. BEEFCAKE, PLEASE!
Suddenly, the muscles on Rinko Daimon expanded. In a matter of seconds she had the body of a competitive weightlifter! “Guess that’s not the one we’re looking for…” Haruto muttered.
“Hm, I don’t know.” Rinko twirled in the mirror. She was admiring her new physique. Maybe they’d let her keep this one? “I could get used to this.” Shunpei tried on his first, but only after some prodding from Koyomi. These rings could do anything, after all.
TINY, PLEASE!
Shunpei was now shorter than Koyomi. All of them gathered around, watching in amusement as he started freaking out. It was like watching an action figure sprout to life out of the blue. “He’d make for such a cute doll. Koyomi, do you have any dollhouses around here?” Rinko asked, sticking her finger right in the poor man’s face.
“Not that I know of.” She shook her head. The gang tried out several other rings.
ROLLY-POLLY, PLEASE!
Shunpei turned into a round blob. They rolled him down the street much to his dismay.
ZEBRA SAFARI, PLEASE!
Rinko was now covered in zebra stripes.
PYRAMID, PLEASE!
Rinko’s entire torso was shaped like a pyramid.
LANK-PLANK, PLEASE!
Koyomi was now 6’0 tall. Why did she try on a ring? Well, she got curious.
RETURN, PLEASE!
After at least a dozen rings, Shunpei and Rinko returned to normal.
“Let’s leave the testing to Mr. Wajima next time…” Shunpei said, ironing out the cricks in his neck. “Um, Haruto… What even happened in the first place?” Haruto’s eyes jolted right open. He had nearly forgotten!
“This right here.” He reached for the letter. This time he was much more careful about opening it.
“A letter?” Rinko said, examining it up close. “That’s what caused this? Shouldn’t we take this to the police? It could be a danger to you.”
“Do they have a section for magic?” Haruto asked. “Besides, I’m sure it’ll be fine now.” The letter was opened once more.
“HARUTO SOMA, INHERITOR OF THE DRAGON; GRAND MASKED WIZARD. YOU HEREBY HAVE BEEN FORMALLY INVITED TO ATTEND THE SUMMER SOLSTICE CIRCALIA FESTIVAL ON CELESTICE ISLAND. YOU ARE WELCOME TO BRING A MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF FOUR GUESTS. NO TRAVEL EXPENSES REQUIRED, ALL ATTENDANTS WILL BE ACCOMMODATED FOR. SIGN BY JUNE 19th IF YOU ACCEPT THIS OFFER. IF YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT, AN USHER WILL BE DELIVERED TO YOUR RESIDENCE.”
The disembodied voice was loud and carried throughout the house. Even the neighbours got a whiff of the speech! When it was all said and done, no one knew what to do next. Haruto picked up the letter to ensure he heard it right and there in writing was the transcript. As it turns out, he did hear that correctly. “Celestice Island?” He scratched his head. “Never heard of it.”
“Wooooow!” Shunpei was all over him, breaking any sort of physical boundary between the two as he reached for the letter, much to Haruto’s dismay as he held it high above his head. “Haruto’s been invited to a festival! Are you bringing us along?!” Shunpei fell into despair for a moment. “Oh, please say you’re taking us with you!”
“Was that ever out of the question?!” Haruto shouted, trying to keep his clingy friend off his back.
“Aren’t you being rather hasty about this?” Koyomi asked, an upturned frown finding its way on the corner roots of her mouth. “We don’t know anything about this place. What if it’s a trap?”
“If it isn’t?” Haruto said. “We’d be missing out on something pretty cool here, wouldn’t we?”
“Right, and after all…” Rinko laid her arm on his shoulder. “All we’ve been doing is battling phantoms. We deserve a break, don’t we?” It was at the mention of phantoms that Haruto turned his heel on the whole idea. He plopped the letter back onto the desk and turned around, pocketing his hands. “Nevermind.” He shook his head.
“What?” Rinko raised her brows. “You were so cheery about it just a minute ago…” “I can’t just abandon my duties here.” He crossed his arms. “If we take some time off, who knows how many gates could become victims of the Phantoms?” There goes his savior complex; a trait that all of them had studied quite well. For better or worse, probably worse - Haruto never took a day off as a hero. In fact, he had forgotten what it was like to take a vacation, so the enticing idea of a tropical adventure ashamedly allowed his responsibility to slip away. “I can’t afford to leave, even if it’s for a few days.”
“That’s not fair.” Rinko argued. “The last part of this year you’ve put your life on the line for everyone else, us included. If you don't take a day off at some point then you’ll never do it.”
“I have to agree.” Koyomi chimed in. “If you overexert yourself then you might not have enough energy in the future.”
Haruto plopped onto the couch, thinking it over. It was true, he hadn’t had a single day of rest since the Sabbath. Every minute of his life was spent attending to potential victims and assisting Gates whilst ridding of Phantoms. He was unable to remember the last time he ever did anything to his own leisure. “Still, if I’m gone, who's going to ensure the safety of Gates?”
“We’ve met quite a few allies along the way.” Koyomi suggested. “There should be someone out there who can handle it.”
“How about Nitoh?” Shunpei suggested. Haruto shot him a look that said ‘I would rather not, but it’s worth a try.’ He reached into his pocket for his cell phone and dialed Kosuke. Thank the stars he managed to get his number. With a guy as nomadic as him, it’s hard to pin down where he’ll end up. He waited for the dial tone, but nothing came up. Nothing but a voicemail. Trying again, he hoped it was just a fluke. Still, nothing.
“Guess I shouldn’t be surprised.”
“But there has to be someone else!” Shunpei cried out in desperation. “Right?!”
“... There is one guy I know.” Haruto stretched out his legs. “It’s a longshot. I’ve only met him a few times.” Everyone sat in a circle around Haruto and prayed for their last hope: the mystery man who would grant them all a delightful vacation. A second passed, nothing. Another second passed. Again, nothing. This third second was the make or break for them.
“Hello?” Haruto said. He picked up! They all cheered, Shunpei prancing around the room. Haruto stood up, wandering off from the living room. “It’s been a while, and it’s a lot to ask but I have a favor to ask…”
The rest of the group stood by the corner, listening closely for who this mysterious man could be. The bits and pieces they made out with weren’t enough to be discernible for the elusive hero’s identity. “Hm? Just like that, huh? You’re a lot friendlier than I imagined…” Haruto laughed. “Right, right. Anything for a friend. Well, that’s cool. We haven’t seen much of each other, but… I appreciate this. A lot. Thank you.” He was about to hang up, but he figured he needed to add one more tidbit. “Look, if anything gets out of hand I need you to call me as soon as possible. I believe you. Once again, thank you - and I owe you one.”
Haruto walked back into the room, and the trio of snoopers dropped to the floor. “So?” Koyomi waited for the deciding answer. “Pack your bags. We’re going on vacation.” Everyone cheered again, this time much more loudly, celebrating the once in a lifetime opportunity. There was a lot that needed to be done.
~~
Later that night, Haruto lay in his bed with his head to the clouds. He couldn’t believe he’d actually accepted this offer. That mystery hero came in for the clutch, and he was glad that someone out there still considered him a great friend in spite of their scarce meetings. Still, he had to wonder what this festival was all about. The earlier doubts of Koyomi lingered in his head. Was there any deeper meaning to this invitation? For all he knows, he very much could be walking right into his end. Still, the thought of getting away and meeting other magical beings was too enticing to pass up. He’d been on his own for far too long, and he has to know for himself if there are others out there like him and Nitoh. Maybe he wouldn’t have to play hero alone for much longer.
“Celestice Island…”
~~
A thousand leagues beneath the sea, in a deep dark hole hid a powerful force that lay restless adjacent to our hero. Imprisoned by those it once trusted, this unstoppable being of immense strength poked its head past the dense bars placed to keep its impending destruction dormant. The moon was bright tonight. It shined like a diamond, sprinkling a tiny glimmering beam of light to the center of this spiraled cage. The cries of the damned, the hopeless filled the air as it made its presence known once more to the world. It has waited too long for a night like this. The day it longed for has finally shown its face. The presence formed a dark grin; its lone heart had never held this amount of excitement. https://archiveofourown.org/works/43914396/chapters/110414802

Haruto/Nitou, any kiss that surprises Haruto
Oh I've had a cute idea, let's go with a cheek kiss.
They get back from Fukui late.
It was a nice drive, and Kosuke's in a cheery mood, but when Haruto tries to persuade him to stay the night, he says no. He's always been wary of it, nervous that Wajima or Shunpei might notice and ask, but this time feels different. "I've got some stuff to think about."
Haruto grins at him. "You? Think?"
"Oh, shut up, I'm going to go camp in the park."
--
Haruto wakes up early the next morning and helps Shunpei make breakfast. He quietly suspects that having someone else around to cook was half of why Wajima agreed to take an apprentice in the first place--not that Shunpei's not doing well in his apprenticeship, but Wajima's not a great cook. The old man himself finally emerges not from his apartment upstairs but from his workroom, and they eat together, and except for the persistent lack of Koyomi it's almost like old times.
The shop opens. Rinko drops by at around eleven to say hi, and she brings doughnuts, which are obviously welcome. They're talking through the news of the day--signs of what might be naturally-occuring Phantoms, other magical phenomena in the park, the weird shit that's happening over in Zawame--when Kosuke shows up.
Rinko waves to him immediately, smiling. "Hey, right, you guys drove to Fukui the other day, how's your grandmother? She over her cold?"
"She scolded me about getting off my ass and applying to grad programs, so basically she's doing great and she's gonna live to be two hundred years old." Kosuke grins. "It was good to see her without anyone almost dying." He waves to Shunpei, nods to Wajima when he leans out of the workshop to say hello, and then sits down on the couch next to Haruto and kisses him on the cheek.
Haruto turns to kiss him back and then stops as he realizes, "...Nitoh, you know we're in public, right?"
"Yeah?"
Rinko is staring at them. "Did you just...? Ok, how long have you two been...?"
Kosuke shrugs. "Six months now?"
"Oh, wow, I mean, I knew that Haruto was, but I didn't realize. Um."
"Well, I figure my grandma didn't disown me, so if she's cool about it then I don't care who else knows."
Haruto grins at him. "So does this mean I can call you babe in front of people now?"
"Wait, who's calling who babe where?" Shunpei looks up from checking something in the register and makes a tiny startled noise. "Wait, did they just kiss?"

FMA03 Month Day 30
A crossover you want:
FMA’03/FMAB crossover aside, I would like to read FMA’03 crossover with Kamen Riders. Either season was fine but if I have to choose…
Kamen Rider Agito: this show deal with people with psychic powers. Thanked to Noah, this crossover was the most plausible.
Kamen Rider Decade: the MC was a dimension traveller and Destroyer of Worlds. I would like to see him wrecking havoc in Amestris.
Kamen Rider Wizard: it had a Philosopher’s Stone and homunculus. The stone was made similarly with FMA’s stone.
Kamen Rider Ghost: the MC was a ghost and his aim was to return to life. I would like to see Ed argued with the MC’s comrades regarding life and death.
Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: the villains reminded me of homunculi.
Kamen Rider Zero-One: this show deal with androids and A.I. Winry would have field day with the techs.

Ryu: Don't ask me questions.
Hiiro: To this nonsense, I say no thank you.
Makoto: Yep not getting into this with you guys
Shintaro: I second that motion... No, don't even think about it Date-san.
Akira: You're no fun *pouts*
Ryusei: ...Honestly, friendship jewelry sounds like something Gentaro would do and it won't be gay in the least.
Gou: We're Kamen Riders. Nothing about us is not at least a little bit gay
Geiz, Isamu and Rintaro: *just nods knowingly*
Keiwa: ...What the fuck? Do we just assume that people are gay here?

ask and ye shall receive: 2, 4, 7, 10, 17, 22, 24, 29, 32, 39?
Thank you so much! <3
Tumblr randomly refreshed when I had almost finished answering this ask so I had to write it all over again, rip
I did have a lot of fun rambling about stuff though, so thanks!
2. If you had to give up your keyboard and write your stories exclusively by hand, could you do it? If you already write everything by hand, a) are you a wizard and b) pen or pencil?
Hm. I already write stories by hand sometimes, so I think I would still manage. It’s not ideal, but fine. However, when it comes to editing, I cannot do that on paper and that is what would get me. When I do write by hand, it’s always by pen because it flows faster.
4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?
I really can’t think of anything right now.
7. What is your deepest joy about writing?
There’s a lot, but I feel most of it is stuff that could apply to other things. The only one that’s unique to writing I think is when you get really into what you’re writing to the point where you stop existing. It’s like get you get super absorbed into a good book but like twice as much
10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?
I’m not entirely sure how to describe how a story can haunt me. Like it’s when I can’t stop thinking about a story and feel deep emotion about it, but not everything I get into haunts me even if I obsess over it and feel many things about it. It’s a specific vibe. For my own writing, I’d say it’s this but also sometimes it happens with stories I haven’t written (yet) but think about all the time. Right now, the story that’s haunting me is a retelling of the Izanami and Izanagi myth I want to write. It will probably end up being ace attorney fanfiction because I don’t think I have the skill to write it as a more faithful retelling (plus i can give the ace attorney characters a happy ending) but who knows, I might write both versions
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
Okay the WIP I’m thinking about most right now is a soul nemesis au for Kamen Rider Blade, and I could be here talking about it all day so I won’t go through all the lore and history and detail (but also this will include some spoilers for the show).
Kamen Rider Blade is a series that (long story short) involves a bunch of “Undead” that were made to fight in a battle for the fate of life on earth by a higher power, then sealed away for 10,000 years until they were unsealed by some research humans. Two of the main characters are a human called Kenzaki who is trying to reseal the Undead, and an Undead called Hajime who ends up sort of working alongside the humans. However, if Hajime becomes the last Undead standing, then the world will end through no will of his own.
So my fic is basically, what if things happened mostly the same as in canon but reverse soulmates exist, and also Hajime and Kenzaki fall in love. I don’t love soulmate aus, but the idea of falling in love with someone you who was marked as your enemy by destiny is way more compelling to me than the idea of falling in love with someone you were supposed to love to begin with. This works well especially with this show because Kenzaki is constantly talking about fighting fate, particularly in regards to Hajime, and eventually he does succeed (to some extent) but not without a huge cost.
There’s a question later about what prep work I put into writing, and I don’t usually do that much, but for this I did go around asking people for soulmate mechanics to figure out which one would be the best for this au. I settled on having it so the moment you meet your soul nemesis’ eyes, you get a mark on your chest that represents them and also lose the ability to see most colors until the other person dies.
The whole “soul nemesis” thing is explained in-universe as sort of a warning system to mark out a person who you will have an irreconcilable conflict with. Kenzaki has to defeat Hajime or else the world will end, and Hajime has to defeat Kenzaki in order to survive. But this isn’t an ideological conflict or anything, there’s nothing personal about the conflict, and so they still can like each other which of course makes the whole situation more painful.
There was also one other idea that played a role in the idea for this fic. When I was watching Kamen Rider Blade, there was a moment near the beginning where I had the realization that Kenzaki was a character who didn’t really seem to get much out of life? He called his duties of saving people as just part of his job, but it also seemed to me that he would be perfectly fine dying to save the world, which was really ironic because I knew the end of this story, where he becomes immortal but loses everything for one person (Hajime). I wanted to start a fic with that idea, and since it was compatible with the soul nemesis au, the first line of this fic is currently about that.
22. How organized are you with your writing? Describe to me your organization method, if it exists. What tools do you use? Notebooks? Binders? Apps? The Cloud?
Pffffff organizational tools?? For writing??? I simply put words down in a google doc and maybe divide it into separate ones for chapters if it gets too long. Really, any planning I do is often just random notes in the form of comments on the doc or a few sentences at the beginning of the story. For longer fics, I might have a separate document for lose ideas and maybe a timeline but that’s it. I organize fics into different folders so all chapters in the same series are in the same folder, and then divide those between “multi-chaptered” “oneshot” “cowritten” and “finished”. I try to keep all my active fics starred and just look at that whenever I want to figure out what to work on.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
Honestly, I don’t put a whole lot into it. I usually sit on an idea before starting it to make sure I actually want to write it, and that stage usually involves a bit of thought on what scene I want to start the story with and maybe a few of the things that happen later down the line, but any other prep work is usually done whenever a problem comes up as I write. Sometimes I’ll do a bit more for a fic, like figuring out which character corresponds to which role in an au, or in the case of the above mentioned Izanami and Izanagi story doing some research into Japanese myths of the underworld, but that’s about it.
29. Where do you draw your inspiration? What do you do when the inspiration well runs dry?
I usually get inspiration from other stories and people talking about things, I feel. For fanfiction, that’s often in the source material and fandom, but honestly it can be anything with similar themes that make me go “ooh I want to try doing that” or “wow I could do such a better job of that” or whatever. If I run out of inspiration, I might try to push through or get back into it by talking to other people about my ideas or about the fandom/tropes/themes/whatever, but often times I just let the story rest until I find inspiration again, if I ever do.
32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?
Hm honestly I feel like there aren’t a whole lot of lines that stand out to me? And especially not ones that particularly relate to my writing I feel. There’s a lot of the Amazing Devil lines that hit hard and I think about a lot. In the Heights has a line that was really impactful to me, “I hang my flag up on display/It reminds me that I came from far away.” I couldn’t put to words exactly why that is so meaningful other than vague pride of having immigrant roots. Maybe it has to do with the wanting to be reminded you came from far away, not having it be something to ignore or that simply is, but something that is both a celebration and a sadness that there is another place you call home.
For writing, the only thing that springs to mind right now is the last line of the second opening of Kamen Rider Blade. It’s 「未来、悲しみが終わる場所」or “the future, the place where sorrows come to an end”. The moment I heard it, I knew I had to use it somewhere and now a version of that translation is the title for my soul nemesis au, “the future where all sorrows end”. (it’s ironic because the end of that show is one of the most painful endings of all time for me)
39. What keeps you writing when you feel like giving up?
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve felt a long term desire to give up writing completely before? So if I go “ugh my writing is awful, none of this is worth it” I’ll just go do something else until I feel less shitty about my writing. I am enough of a completionist for that to drive some of it, if I’m feeling uninspired on a particular piece. But really, I think my biggest strategy is just waiting until I don’t feel like giving up.

Ex-Aid review: Heisei Generations
Time to review Ex-Aid's first movie: "Kamen Rider Heisei Generations: Dr. Pac-Man VS Ex-Aid & Ghost With Legend Riders". Long, long title. Since I've not done a review for a movie yet, how do I format this...
Well, for starters, some preliminary timeline placement: The movie came out when Kuroto Dan was still pretending to be sane, and there was still a bike among us. The Kamen Rider Genm spinoffs would tip you off to that since those take place after this movie. It's a nice early "In case you're new to Ex-Aid" timeline placement.
Also, since this is post-finale Ghost, Drive, Gaim and Wizard... I won’t hold back on spoilers for those shows!
This is a real treat, I tell ya. For those who don't know, I love crossovers in general. And when it comes to Kamen Rider, I usually get some kind of enjoyment out of the crossover movies. I say this because, well, they're not usually... logical. Due to trying to work in this show and that show with their crazily distinct styles and lore, it gets hard to make crossovers actually make sense.
But the ones that have come out since Gaim have been doing a better job of that. Generally I'm talking about the spring movies in this context, but what I should be talking about are the winter movies. These are typically movies where the current show gets its own plot, the previous show gets its own post-finale plot, and the two plots merge in the final act... or final 10 minutes.
Ghost/Drive did something impressive with this format: It ditched it entirely. Instead of having two shows meet at the end, this movie realized that a movie about Ghost and Drive should really be about Ghost and Drive having some adventure that affects both of them. I'm glad to see this movie follows that notion with Ex-Aid and Ghost meeting within the first few minutes, and even Drive gets to be involved in continuity with the aforementioned Ghost/Drive movie. I'll talk about the cameos as they come up.
So right away, things are falling into chaos as we meet our villains, Dr. Pac-Man and his three lackeys, who I'll call Robol, Dragol and Giril since that's easier to remember. This is because they steal the Proto Gashats from Kuroto Dan, along with the Bugvisor, and the lackeys use Proto Gashats to transform much in the way Graphite did to gain his black recolor form.
I appreciate that, from the moment this movie starts, you know that you're in for a wild time. The lackeys themselves all do some fun fighting even as civilians, in particular Giril who literally brought a sword to a gun fight even before getting a Proto Gashat. Dragol, the tall lanky one, also does a good performance. And Dr. Pac-Man... boy, that outfit and mask combo is so 70s it hurts. I can't hate it.
I should take some time to talk about Ghost, shouldn't I?
Yes, this is Ghost's return after the show ended, and to be honest? Not much has changed for this cast. Takeru is in school making up for the time lost, but everyone else... is about where they were when the show ended, which is fine. The monks and Kanon also appear briefly, and of course Makoto/Specter and Alain/Necrom, but I am disappointed that Javert didn't get to show up - I wanna see what his monk training has led to, man.
The Pac-Man Bugster Viruses end up taking away Takeru’s ability to transform for some reason... but then we learn why later! Pac-Man's weakness is ghosts! I shouldn't be surprised that was actually a plot point since that's a line in the trailer, but it's still absurd in a way that made me smile. Apparently Kuroto Dan is being trusted with his Eyecon to work on a new Gashat, which sounds like A VERY BAD IDEA but y'know, at this point Kuroto Dan was actually a trusted supplier.
The three lackeys go on to use Proto Gashats stolen from Kuroto Dan, transforming into what are essentially reuses of the Collaboss Bugsters from the show, sans the Gashat lodged in the head - ironic since they transform shoving the Gashat into their body ala Dopant Memories. With that and the white outfits I can't help but imagine this is Foundation X related...
The undersuit of the Collaboss Bugster is colored a bit differently, but to me the main attraction is Dragol since Drago Knight Hunter Z never got used this way in the show. It's a nice design, too! It's a thing that makes me go "Oh I should use that in fanfiction..."
The movie mainly revolves around a high school student who becomes infected, and in a twist I kinda wasn't expecting so early, they make a Bugster from a game HE created - a game not associated with Genm Corp, Hatesate Puzzle. Kind of a neat twist. They tie this Bugster's powers into the villain's ambitions in a way that is kind of nonsensical to me, though.
What I do like is the way they handle the kid. Sure, it's mostly an Ex-Aid plot, but Takeru's respect for enjoying life comes into play since the patient really enjoys making his game, and the two of them, despite some minor differences later on, both want to see him be happy once it's over.
While this is going on, we do get an interesting subplot with Dr. Pac-Man and crew. Takeru, Onari and Akari go to Shinnosuke/Drive of the Metro PD to find out who these villains are, and the plot thickens when he reveals that they were part of some shady business shrouded in rumors and mysterious deaths.
Shinnosuke's life sucks during this first half of the movie. It's become apparent to him that he can't be a Rider with his gear being put away and all, so he's feeling pretty powerless. It's a bit of a random stroke of luck how he is reunited with Belt-san to become Kamen Rider Drive again, but I will get into that once I talk about Gaim. Yes.
Hey, wait, I've seen that scene in the show recently...! Let's talk about this now even though they reveal more about it later.
Perhaps there were detailed synopsis' available way back when the movie came out, I dunno. It's hard to come across this stuff in English unless you follow the right people, and even then you might only learn bits and pieces.
But I did not know the movie actually reveals that Emu is patient zero AND Parad was created from his Bugster Virus! And I bet a lot of folks outside of Japan were not privy to this reveal either, since I'd always seen/received theories about Emu possibly maybe being patient zero. I even theorized it at the end of December when the movie had already come out. I feel dumb but at the same time, that's what happens when you can't be there to see the movie when it comes out.
I'm talking a bit out of order, but I will say that there's a double edged sword to this reveal. On the one hand, we the viewers learn about Emu being patient zero because Ghost's sporadic touch-someone-and-see-memories power triggered when he put a hand on Dr. Pac-Man. On the other hand... bro, you should've probably told Emu something this eerie. Perhaps not the best way to reveal it.
Anyway, just thought that was real interesting for a movie that contains the name "Dr. Pac-Man".
Back to the plot at hand, the new Hatesate Puzzle based Bugster causes some trouble for Takeru as it just about kills off Akari, or at least badly injures her. It's easy to say she was killed since it's Ghost. But we'll get to him near the end...
Oh yeah, Makoto and Alain show up around this time. Just... kind of slide into view during a fight since they read the script.
Sadly I don't really have much to say about them in this movie since their dialogue literally consists of saying "You'll pay for this!" in slightly different ways each time they speak. We do get to see that they and Kanon return to the Ganma homeworld at the end, so... that's still a thing.
The movie then proceeds to provide the kind of fight porn you enjoy from one of these movies. Giril, Robol and Dragol take on Specter, Necrom, Brave, Snipe and Lazer (cause hey he's still alive), all while summoning Bugster Viruses that are themed after their Gashats; Samurai, futuristic soldiers(??) and fantasy soldiers that may or may not be using costumes from Wizard's summer movie. Fact-checking is for kids.
And of course, the new Gashat from Kuroto Dan has arrived for Ex-Aid to use. After he and Ghost start working together to take on the giant CGI Pac-Man, Ex-Aid uses the wonderfully colored Ghost Gamer form while Ghost uses the uncanny Ex-Aid Damashii form he now has (an Eyecon obtained at the end of his show because crossovers), and the two defeat the giant Pac-Man.
The day is saved. Wait, weren't there more Riders in this?
Yeah, that shocked me when I was watching - we're only halfway through and we've gotten the big crossover fight out of the way! If I wasn't already so aware of what happens in the movie, I'd be left wondering what comes next.
But Emu is still affected by all that happened. The other doctor Riders came to help, and are even caring for the Riders from Ghost who are injured, but Emu couldn't save his own patient. Not only that, but the villains have said patient, and are using him to create a new form for Dr. Pac-Man. Standard toku movie villain stuff.
Is there any hope left for our hero?
No, but at least we have our donuts.
So this cameo is a bit out of nowhere for a couple reasons. One, it just kind of happens suddenly. Two, holy crap they got Haruto's actor to come back and his hair is perfectly on point. But alas, much like Wizard's show, his involvement here isn't living up to its full potential. He doesn’t say much beyond catchphrases and the fact he’s a mage, and doesn’t explain why he’s here. I have a way this could've worked, which will be addressed when I talk about Gaim. Yes.
There is also a kinda funny scene where he convinces Dr. Pac-Man into letting him be a bodyguard with no trouble at all. It was funny but not for the right reasons. He and Dragol also don't get along and that's funny because theming.
Once Emu, Takeru and Shinnosuke know where to go, they see the new bodyguard Haruto... who says he's here to escort them in - okay. The three engage in some fun out-of-suit fighting with Dr. Pac-Man's lackies, and arrive to a familiar part of this abandoned office set that led me to wonder how he was going to make his entrance...
Turns out he just kind of crashes the party and lands like a badass. I can dig it. Okay, so NOW I talk about Gaim!
Gaim's a glaring part of this crossover. Whether the actor was busy with another role, or disinterested in returning, he never appears out of costume and there's not even a voice credit.
Gaim DOES talk in the movie, and he sounds on point, but one thing you'll notice is he never says anything too specific. It's believed that his dialogue is just recycled audio from previous media, and sadly, as the resident Gaim fanatic, I could not even begin to find transcripts that would lead me to having properly spelled Japanese dialogue that would lead me to previous instances of said dialogue existing. Just wanted to explain how much dumb work I was doing for this one paragraph of the review.
But what I can tell you is this: Gaim has dialogue that’s real teamwork-y, so it’s probably from previous crossovers.
Anyway, I had two things to address with Gaim. First, they do a cute thing where Gaim retrieved Belt-san for Shinnosuke, to which he acknowledges that Gaim DOES have god powers that make it easy for him to just warp into the Drive Pit and snatch him up. That's a nice way of getting Drive to transform.
A shame they didn't think to have a flashback where Haruto is warned about Dr. Pac-Man by Gaim, thus explaining why either of them are here to begin with. I mean, Gaim's probably privy to movie villain plots, since he's got god senses.
As a real specific thing, I would have also liked if Gaim explained away his lack of out-of-suit appearance with "By the way, I'm on another planet right now, so this is just an avatar." If you don't follow Gaim then I'm sorry for throwing these spoilers out so crazily, but y'know. I gave the appropriate spoiler warning.
There's a lot of lovely fight porn where Wizard, Gaim and Drive each take on the lackeys and their Bugster Virus grunts, who happen to fit their motifs, going through their various forms while their respective themes play. It's beautiful. Also Gaim has a real out-of-place line delivery when he gives a final blow, lending credence to the theory this is recycled dialogue.
When Ghost gets insultingly overpowered by the puzzle themed Bugster, making his supposed infinite potential form look bad, Ghost receives an out-of-nowhere visit from the spirit of Nobunaga who decides to fight alongside him with two other rulers of Japan who unified the nation. Tenka Touitsu Damashii represents three historical figures, and I gotta say, I'm glad to see it get used in a movie.
A shame they gave it to Ghost since the toy Eyecon is literally only capable of playing Specter's standby music. But I guess I can't feel too bad for Specter since he got his own movie with a final form?
It's a nice idea, looks good, and the fact that it makes use of the three Riders' weapons is cool. Maybe in a world where Ghost made more Eyecons, Hideyoshi and Ieyasu would've been forms used by Ghost and Necrom.
Things are not so hopeful for Emu. He's been given a legitimately-painful-to-watch beating by Dr. Pac-Man in his new monster form, and is pushed to the ground. The kind doctor decides to give Emu a taste of what it's like to go through death by Bugster Virus by basically forcing Mighty Action X into his belt alongside Proto Mighty Action X (since Proto Gashats have been established to be deadly), which doesn't work out quite how he wanted.
Instead, Emu inexplicably (but we know why now) connects the two Gashats to form the Mighty Brothers XX Gashat - which appears to be lacking in some paint here for some reason, gonna guess it's an error. With a very ominous and emotionless persona overtaking him, he transforms into the separate Ex-Aids, Double Action Gamer Level XX.
It's a real interesting way of giving you a taste of what's to come in the show in a way that's different. Ghost/Drive did this as well with Ghost's Toucon Boost Damashii form, and there's also Hibiki which kind of... created its own crazy origin for Hibiki's final form which is completely ignored in the show.
Point is, I find it interesting the way they pulled it off. By the end of the fight, the villains have been defeated and Ex-Aid's double Gashat turns back into separates, with him having no memory of what he did - cleeeverly avoiding continuity problems with the show, I see.
With that, the movie is just about over, but wait! It's a Ghost movie where Takeru doesn't die? Of course not, that'd just be silly.
Yes, as the cast of Ex-Aid and Ghost are meeting up again, Takeru randomly passes out. Apparently all the beatings he endured today was just too much for him. It seems that he's really dead this time! No pulse or anything! Tears all around!
You know what's coming, though. It's a crossover with a doctor. In a scene that's strangely reminiscent of the fakeout CPR scene in episode 1 of Ex-Aid, Emu brings Takeru back to life. He then thanks Emu for giving him another chance at life, fulfilling Ghost's other requirement of being sugary sweet.
The credits roll as we see what everyone is up to now. Haruto is on a rooftop eating donuts just as you'd expect, and Shinnosuke is dealing with coworkers congradulating him on his new kid way too early... not sure if that's a Drive Saga 2 thing or not, since that's on my list of toku to watch.
And finally, the last scene has Parad with Kuroto, holding the Pac-Adventure Gashat that will be used in the Genm spinoff which doesn't make anymore sense now that I've seen the movie. Oh, and a nice shot of Perfect Puzzle's title image, teasing at Parad's future Rider status! Neat.
So... that's a lot of text I'm gonna have to edit. But that's also Ex-Aid's first movie. How was it?
Well, I generally enjoy crossover movies for the fun things that can happen, and within the last few years they have gotten really good at telling a story. Especially Ghost/Drive which I have referenced several times here, since it and this movie have its format in common.
That being said, this movie is kind of an oddity of its own. It gets the Legend Rider-y crossover form stuff out of the way halfway in, and goes on to do more stuff later that feels reminiscent of the spring crossover movies as of late - even using returning actors, and directly acknowledging previous crossovers to give a legitimacy to them. These 4 returning heroes felt like they'd met before and were reunited, which is probably the most pleasant surprise of the movie.
I know a lot of folks out there hate these kind of movies, or even ignore all the toku movies, but I think this is promising. Kamen Rider crossovers have been getting better at character writing with each movie, and I am excited to see the spring movie once it hits DVD.
With that all being said, I'll see you all in... a week maybe? With Ex-Aid taking a week off, I should use that as an excuse to catch up and actually talk about May's crazy bunch of episodes.

Kamen Rider Ryuki-Crossover Ryuki Chapter 2
Things sure were crowded aboard the Den-Liner. Mainly because Decade had left the battle early and didn’t teleport anyone back to their own homes. This forced the Den-Liner to become a glorified bus stop service. Riders were spread out into train cars, Ryuki was with his fellow Heisei Riders. Taking out his Advent Deck, he laid his head back on the window behind him. That last battle was pretty tiring. He tried to close his eyes but sleep was difficult given the other riders.
“I was manipulated by a space alien to become Kamen Rider Build.” Said a proud but arrogant voice.
“Kuuga’s powers come from an ancient source,” Godai said.
“Agito’s powers are ancient as well, but was given to me by the Overlord of Light to combat the darkness!” Shouichi said.
“I fought against despair inside of me and gained magical powers,” Wizard said.
“I saved Philip from a laboratory and united our minds became the two in one Kamen Rider!” W said.
“I’m an Orphenoch and after finding the Faiz belt I was able to transform. It didn’t stop me from having to do laundry though.” Faiz said.
“I am simply the sun.” Said another voice.
Shinji thought it was interesting how other Riders got their powers.
“Sounds awesome everyone!” Shinji exclaimed.
The other Riders turned their attention to Shinji.
“What about you Ryuki? How did you get your belt?” Wizard asked.
“W-well it appears on me when I take out my card deck! I didn’t really get it any special way!” Shinji said.
“Okay but surely it was a story on how you got the card deck?” Godai asked smiling.
Shinji took a moment to decide how to explain his story in the coolest way possible.
“I found it.” He said.
He got nervous.
“You just found it?” W asked.
“Yes,” Shinji said.
The Riders paused for a moment and then laughed.
“I guess some of us just have to be normal people wearing a suit. That’s okay too!” Shouichi said.
“Wait.” Faiz asked, “Did you get your strongest form in the mail too?”
“No, it was given to me,” Shinji said.
The other Riders laughed again, Build slapped Faiz’s back, “Good one 555!”
“This isn’t funny. I got my strongest form in the mail.” Faiz said as he looked away.
“This is my stop. Gotta go! I’d love to study your Advent Cards though sometime Ryuki!” Build waved goodbye as he got off the train.
Shinji laid his head back again.
Am I really just a normal guy who found a card deck? He thought to himself.
One by one the other Riders left. He assumed he would be last. He would talk to the Taros for a while, even though he found them very weird.
“So you’re not a real dragon?” Ryutaros asked.
“No, just a guy,” Shinji said.
“We’re going to ORE Sanjou Journal?” Momotaros asked.
“Yes, ORE Journal. My workplace. I’m running late!” Shinji said.
“You know this is a time travel train right?” Momotaros asked.
“I heard that there’s a beautiful woman at ORE Journal, perhaps you would care to introduce us Ryuki?” Urataros asked.
Loud snoring prevented Shinji from answering as he sighed, he then walked over to Naomi’s drinks. She was mixing some coffee as she turned and saw him from the corner of her eye and smiled.
“You’re Kamen Rider Ryuki right?” Naomi asked.
“Yes, that’s me the dragon knight. I’d like a coffee or at least a break from them.” Shinji said.
“They’re a handful, but they’re like sweet kids at the end of the day.” Naomi said as she gave him a cup, “What’s it like having a pet dragon?”
Shinji took a drink and his face turned sour, he forced himself to swallow down the coffee. It tasted quite terrible.
Naomi’s eyes widened with glee, “Oh that means you like it!”
“Y-you make this for them?” Shinji said pointing at the Imagin.
Naomi nodded.
That explains this awful taste! He thought.
“What’s it taste like?” she asked.
I can’t tell her that though!. Shinji thought.
“It sure tastes like something they would like,” Shinji said as he coughed.
“Aw thank you!” Naomi said as she walked around the counter to serve the Imagin.
However, suddenly the train came to an abrupt stop, “Uwaaaaa!” Naomi shouted as she fell over.
Shinji saw her falling and reached out his arms to catch her, but lost his own balance and fell on top of her back. The coffee spilled everywhere. Shinji felt embarrassed.
“S-sorry I wasn’t fast enough.” He said.
He and Naomi stood up and grabbed some napkins to clean up the mess.
“Silly Shinji, if the train’s stopped it’s probably time for you to get off.” She said helping him clean.
But to their surprise, the door opened and a man wearing a brown tunic-like cloth and a long scarf. He also carried a weird book.
“Ah, Kamen Rider Ryuki. Though not quite 2020.” The man said walking by.
“I remember you! The scarf-jerk!” Momotaros said pointing.
“I’d prefer to be called Woz. Servant of ZI-O the King of time.” Woz said.
“There’s a king of time?” Shinji asked.
“Get off my train!” Momotaros said.
“This isn’t your train, it’s the Owner’s,” Urataros said.
“Dummy Momotaros!” Ryutaros said.
Momotaros leaned in and whispered, “But he doesn’t know that.”
Woz smiled and said, “Of course I would know that.”
Momotaros held in his anger, “What are you doing here?”
“It seems that puppets of previous Kamen Rider foes are reappearing. What are you doing to solve this.. Problem? Should we have to intervene?” Woz said.
“NO!” Momotaros said, “We were the time police before you came along, we can figure this out ourselves! I thought that clock kid wasn’t a jerk!”
“Oh Waga Maou didn’t send me himself, I noticed the time distortion. He’s too busy studying right now. It’s very important to the time stream.” Woz said.
“STUDYING?!” Momotaros said.
“I’m a reporter, I’m sure I could help you guys solve this,” Shinji said extending his hand.
Woz and Momotaros stared at him.
The next moment Shinji was at the front of ORE Journal’s offices. He sighed as the Den-Liner began to take off.
“Bye.. Shinji!” shouted Naomi as she waved.
Shinji waved back as he walked towards the front door.
They didn’t outright say it, but the other Riders think I’m outclassed for these sort of things. I may not remember how the Rider War ended, but I survived it. I’ll prove to the other Riders somehow that I’m capable.
“Excuse me..?” asked a voice.
Shinji turned to his right and sitting right outside his building was a homeless man. Shinji was startled for a moment.
“Do you have any food? Spare change?” the man asked.
Shinji instinctively took out his wallet, “Please wait a moment!”
He held his wallet upside down and then realized it was empty.
“Oh, so we’re both poor.” The man said, “Doesn’t the EIC pay you?”
“Sometimes wait..how do you know I work here?” Shinji asked suspiciously.
“I’m quite observant because it’s not like I have a job or anything. Maybe hunting for rats is a job.” The homeless man said.
“You know you shouldn’t turn your back to a mirror in this town,” Shinji said.
The man smiled, “Scared of the old rumors about the 2002 disappearances in this city?”
“Y-yes,” Shinji said.
“You’re a reporter. Believe in facts, not superstition. I’ll still be here later. Go to work.” He said.
Shinji nodded and went to the door before realizing he forgot something, “Wait! What’s your name?”
“My name? I’m Tatsuya Kano.” He said.
“Goodbye, Tatsuya.” Shinji then went inside to ORE Journal’s office.
If Shinji had better ears he would have heard Tatsuya say, “Goodbye Ryuki.”
Next time… Artwork made by a friend, who wishes to remain uncredited.

How far can you change cannon?
Hello guys, I want to ask you a bit. So I made a fanfic crossover between Pretty Cures and Kamen Rider. For context, the two franchise has a lot of similarities despite aimed at a different audience (Pretty cures for a little girl, Kamen Rider for little boys), given as they were produced by the same company (TOEI, albeit different subsidiary). They were a long-running franchise and have different title each year and I made a fanfiction between Maho Girls Pretty Cure and Kamen Rider Wizard, both are about magic-wielding heroes and both use jewel as their transformation device.
The story itself was similar to many Kamen Rider crossover fic before me, basically, Self Insert getting a Kamen Rider's transformation device and dropped on anime world. I know Self Insert has its haters and fans, but the early reviews about the plot were positive so I confidence to continue.
then, to make a parallel between two franchise, I created a new form and suddenly I get a negative reaction.
https://imgur.com/a/ENRqCtA
When I write this, I thought because it was fanfiction, I can go changing a lot of things and this is even truer because the Kamen Rider part I used was only the transformation device, not the characters or the whole plot of Kamen Rider Wizard.
So, how far can you change things in canon when you write a fanfiction? should I remedy this by being more faithful to the source?
I am sorry if this is long.
(Ps: I think they more angry about it because I say I didn't watch the Kamen Rider in question)
(Pss: fanfiction in question is this
Thank you in advance for your answer, I hope I didn't break any rules for posting this.

Kamen Rider Ryuki-Crossover Ryuki Chapter 1
Like the other Kamen Riders, Ryuki had arrived like a flash of light transported by the Den-Liner. Remembering his placement, he stood between Faiz and Agito. Mister Momotaros was very strict about this, and sometimes yelled at him when he stood in the wrong spot. While Ryuki was glad to stay in “proper order” he didn’t understand why mister Momotaros had to be in the center of the group.
Why does he get to call the shots?
Shinji looked outward and saw a massive army of men carrying daggers and wearing skull like clothing. He heard them shout “EEEEE!” This must be the Shocker army he had learned about in the history books.
“Alright ya jerks!” Momotaros said, “We the Kamen Riders have arrived at last!”
Ryuki was used to Mister Momotaros’ voice.
“No matter how many times Shocker tries” a deeper more empowering voice spoke, “We the Kamen Riders will be there to stop them!”
Ryuki recognized the voice as Kamen Rider Nigo, a man he had admiration for.
“For peace and justice!” another voice shouted.
This time it was Kamen Rider Ichigo, he also had great admiration for Ichigo, as well as the other Showa Riders. In fact Ryuki had attempted to stand next to the Double Riders during the placement. Kuuga didn’t mind, but Mister Momotaros yelled at him anyway.
“Let’s go! Go! Go! Go!” shouted Momotaros.
Ryuki struck a quick pose with all the other Riders just like they had rehearsed as they jumped off the cliff into the rock quarry facing the Shocker army head on!
“Shaaaaaa!” he shouted as he landed upon a Shocker grunt.
The Shocker grunt appeared to be unconscious as Ryuki looked downward, he let out another silent “Shaaa” in his head at his unexpected victory before dashing forward, taking out a card from his belt, he summoned DragRedder, the dragon flew rapidly around Ryuki flinging Shocker grunts in the air. Punching a Shocker grunt in the face, he spotted Ichigo and Nigo off in the distance.
Mister Ichigo and Nigo, maybe I can help them out!
Jumping over three Shocker grunts and nearly missing being hit by Kamen Rider Wizard’s gun blasts, he made his way towards Ichigo.
“Hey watch out Ryuki!” Wizard called to him.
Ryuki rolled over to Wizard’s location punching a Shocker grunt in the chest.
“Hey Wizard! Maybe you could teach me some magic sometime?” Ryuki asked keeping up his guard.
“No, Ryuki. Magic is serious business. Stick with your cards, they seem to have some degree of mystical power.” Wizard said.
Ryuki took out his Guard Vent card and rolled a distance from Wizard.
“Hey! I got an idea! Shoot at me!” Ryuki said.
He then charged towards Wizard as he fired his gun’s blast, the shots were deflected from Ryuki’s Guard Vent and sent in many different directions hitting many different enemies around them.
“Heh that was cool.” Wizard said.
Ryuki did another Yosshaaaaa.
Then a red sword flew over his head along with Momotaros.
“Ryuki! Stop posing and hand me the sword! That other dragon-jerk will switch and steal my points!” he shouted.
Momotaros was fighting the Bee-Woman as Ryuki watched and laughed at him trying to dodge her rapier sword.
“It’s not funny!” Momotaros said.
Ryuki looked towards Ichigo who was currently throwing a Shocker grunt into five others.
I’ll need a sword with a longer reach if I wanna really impress the Double Riders.
He took out a card and loaded it into his visor.
“Sword Bento!” said the visor.
Ryuki caught his sword and slashed it forward striking the Bee-Woman from behind. He then handed it to Momotaros.
“What? What is this? I wanted my sword! Don’t give me your sword!” Momotaros argued.
Ignoring him, Ryuki rolled forward grabbing Momotaros’ GenGasher and continued towards Ichigo’s position.
He could still hear Momotaros in the background, “Where are you going? I’m angry!”
———————
Momotaros was then met with a painful poke on his right stomach.
“Arghh!” he shouted falling over into the dirt.
The Bee-Woman poked at him several times as he rolled around before jumping up with a kick to her face.
Why did Ryuki do that? Why were all the Dragon Riders except the Magic-Jerk annoying? Ryutaros was annoying. Agito always stole his spotlight, and he couldn’t figure out what was in Ryuki’s head most of the time.
I thought I told him to fight the combatmen only! That’s the trouble with leadership. He thought. Nobody ever listens!
“You know Sempaii, if your leadership has problems I could take over” Urataros said.
“If I was the leader I would have everyone shoot their guns!” Ryutaros said.
Momotaros got mad and swung the DragSaber forward, slashing downward at the Bee-woman and cutting her rapier into two. Momotaros looked at the DragSaber in surprise at its damage before turning his attention back to the Bee-Woman who smiled nervously before kicking Momotaros in his shin.
“OW!” he said followed by cursing.
He got mad again, “My Special Attack.. Improvised Ryuki’s Sword Version!”
He took out one of his Liner cards and charged it in accordance with his belt. The DragSaber glowed and burned with flames. Momotaros jumped forward towards the Bee-Woman.
KABOOOM!
Momotaros cracked his neck.
“That’ll teach you to poke me!” he shouted at the sky.
The moment was ruined by the annoying sound of Kintaros yawning. Momo growled.
————————————
Ryuki could see Ichigo and Nigo being surrounded by the Spider Man and Bat Man, jumping forward, the DenGasher’s sword seemed to automatically extend and slashed them, knocking both monsters into the air. The Double Riders then jumped up and finished them off with a Rider Kick.
“Tsukasa?” Ichigo asked.
“Kido Shinji aka Ryuki sir! Thought I’d lend a hand!” Ryuki said.
He didn’t know why he gave them his real name.
“Thank you young one.” Nigo said offering a bow.
“EEEE!” shouted Shocker Grunts as they came running forward.
The Double Riders got into combat position as they rushed forward. Ryuki watched in astonishment. Ichigo met the groups with multiple kicks as Nigo fought with several punches. Ryuki ran forward and threw the DenGasher, it flew knocking a line of Shocker grunts down. He took out his Strike Vent card and loaded it in the visor. DragRedder flew around him they both shot a powerful fireball, Ichigo and Nigo rolled out of the way as a powerful explosion erupted.
The remaining Shocker grunts all fell down leaving behind a green explosion. Ryuki was left puzzled.
“These were copies again right?” Ryuki asked.
“Yes. Fake non-living almost puppet like minions. But who?” Ichigo asked.
“We’ll find out soon enough and stop it!” Nigo said.
Ryuki recognized this part of the battle, this is where everyone would pose. The other Showa Riders came to join them.
I can’t believe I got to do this! Now I get to pose with the Showa Riders!
“Yooooo” Ryuki said pumping up his fist. “Shhhaaaaaaaaaa!”
“RYUUUUUUKKIII!” he heard Momotaros off in the distance.
I used to hate being a Rider, All the senseless fighting. The loneliness of being the only one to care about human lives. But now? Now, I love it. The teamwork, the catchphrases. Before, Asakura, Kitaoka, and the others never really got it. I fight to protect human lives.

Kamen Rider Villains Badan Empire 01
Plot B Chapter 01
Outside Badan Gates,
Of course while everyone had a “fresh start” not everyone made good use of it. Those who were disruptive to Badan’s original plans were exiled, and displaced. Troublemakers that weren’t necessarily killed in case they proved to be eventually useful. Asakura Takeshi formerly Kamen Rider Ouja was one of these people.
THUMP…THUMP….THUMP…
He banged his head on the blackgold wall gates continuously loitering.
“Come.. on” he muttered, next banging his fists now and progressing to a shout, “Someone come out and fight!”
He was almost immediately kicked out for trying to kill the other occupants of Badan City, and a stern refusal to follow orders. At best disruptive and at worst too chaotic to be part of their grand plan. That didn’t stop him from being annoying though. He wouldn’t stop making noise till he was acknowledged.
WHSSHSHH!
A figure seemed to suddenly appear perched on the skull-gate pillar peering over at Asakura. He was a “human” male wearing a black hat, a long brown and green scarf. Asakura took notice of him as the man smiled and plopppe down relaxing his stance. With a closer look, he didn’t consider him a “man” at all, more like a kid with his young arrogant face. Asakura began scanning the ground for a rock or some other blunt object he could find to throw at him.
“You don’t look like much but you can amuse me,” Asakura said.
He immediately went for a jab at the kid, but his attack was easily dodged. Then diving to the ground with a grunt, he grabbed a rock and threw. The rock soared, but was quickly caught in his opponent’s palm. This made him all the angrier as he dashed forward with a scream attempting to grab him.
FWSSSSSS! SMACK!
In a blur, Asakura was smashed aside as a green monster form had taken the kid’s place. Asakura stood up and wiped off his face.
“You vex me..” he said.
The monster laughed from his belly with an annoying high pitched tone.
“We don’t have to fight dear Asakura..!” the monster said now seemingly more like the kid again.
“Fighting is all there is. If you don’t want to fight.. DIE”
Asakura this time picked up a long tree branch, this was more to his liking. He jumped forward swinging it like a devil. Aiming for the kaijin’s forehead.
WHANG!
The branch cracked and flew off in different directions having no effect. Asakura growled in frustration as the kid crossed his arms.
“We can be friends..” he said.
He stood still for a moment unsure what to do next.
“I don’t make friends,” he said.
He tried to scan his target. He much preferred blunt and direct force, but he wasn’t stupid. If he could find a weakness on this kid, monster, or whatever he’d take it.
“We’re similar” The Kid said, he then extended his hand, “I’m Sora Takigawa..perhaps you’ve heard of me?”
He stared at his hand refusing to touch it. He never did such things, nor did he respect who was in front of him. Asakura only respected people who let him fight.
“No..”
Sora titled his head presumably in annoyance, “Now you’re irritating me…”
“Get to the point,”
The thing calling himself Sora sighed before returning to his human form with a obviously fake smile, “We’re the same you and I” Sora then leaned uncomfortably close to Asakura ears, “Killers…” he said in a whisper.
Asakura brushed him aside with his shoulder but was slightly more interested and also annoyed, “I said get to the point.”
“I can get you your “Advent Deck” back if we work together,” Sora said, “Hmm? What will you say? Killer…and killer?”
He let out a groan, the kid was right. Badan had taken away his Advent Deck shortly before he was exiled. If he had it, he could really raise hell. But something about this kid really vexed him, he seemed like a trickster.
But he seemed like he was hearing something off in the distance..
WHHZZZZZZZZRRRRRR
Running like troublesome gnats, the two gate guards entered the scene, The Hoppers. They came in a pair, and sometimes they were just as annoying as this kid was right now. Kickhopper and Punchhopper leaned against the twin stone pillars, as Sora and Asakura were talking. They didn’t seem to care that Sora was here.
“Asakura..!” Kickhopper said, “Join us together in hell..”
“Big bro is right,” Punchhopper said, “We’d give you your gear back. Right now there’s just some Combatmen using it.”
Asakura groaned. He found these guys annoying too with their ability to move at extreme speeds. He ignored them but Sora wasn’t. Perhaps he was concerned about being ratted out, but an opportunity was all he needed. With a swift cobra-like strike, Asakura grabbed Sora by the neck and gripped onto him. Sora seemed to look onto with wide eyes, he didn’t expect this to happen to him. He kept his eyes centered on Sora’s, he didn’t care what the Hoppers did.
“You’re a fake. I smell it,” Asakura said, “We’re nowhere near the same! You are cheap tricks, I am blunt force..you.. VEX me.”
He then tossed Sora to the ground and let out his own smirk. Putting the brat down a peg was..exciting. Exciting enough to leave.
“I’ll leave now,” he said walking off into Badan’s artificial jungle, “But I’ll be back.”
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sora was enraged. How did he? How could he?! How did he have the audacity?! He slammed his fist on the ground. Nobody made a fool of Sora Takigawa. Not even other serial killers! He picked himself off the ground and realized the Hoppers were still watching.
“So you’ve seen hell…” Kickhopper said.
Sora puffed out his chest, “I am…hell!”
He exited with a mighty leap back into the city grounds.

The Wood and The Maidens
Characters: Koyomi Fueki & Hina Izumi
Pairing: None, but they could be cute
Summary: Two maidens meet in the wood, and one of them doesn't seem to be human.
Warning: None
Word count: 387...I just wanted to keep it a little short
Day 1 of 30 of my 30 Day Writing Challenge and the prompt is Fantasy Au for OOO & Wizard.
There in the wood two maidens met, one covered head to toe in vibrant colors and patterns, her hair braided with flowers. A basket in hand and a smile gracing her face.
“Who are you?” Her voice was airy with curiosity as she asked her question, but soon her eyes widened in confusion.
The other maiden had hidden behind an old oak, only letting her head poke out to look at the colorful one.
“What are you doing?" I won’t bite,” She couldn’t help the giggle in her voice as she inched closer to the tree; like the other girl was a skittish cat. What if I gave you my name first? Would that be better? ”
The colorful maiden was given a small nod, and received a small whisper. “Yes.”
“I’m Hina. It's nice to meet you, miss-?”
“Koyomi…my name is Koyomi.”
After being given each other’s name, Koyomi stepped out from behind the oak and quirked an eyebrow at the other. “Why are you here?”
It took Hina a moment to answer. She was too focused on how the other maiden almost looked…looked ghostly. Dressed all in white and with a blank look in her eyes.
Maybe she’s a fairy or a spirit of the wood?
“Oh, I came here to pick herbs for my-”
“You came here for herbs?” The blank maiden almost seemed to find that humorous.
“Yes, I came here for herbs...is there something wrong with that?”
“Haven’t you heard of what lives in this part of the wood? ”
Everything suddenly stilled in the wood, like something was watching and listening to their little chat.
“What lives here then, Koyomi?”
“A wizard,” The colorful maiden had never heard of this ‘Wizard’, but she didn’t miss the small smirk that formed on Koyomi’s face. “He’s said to be quite a grim man…as fearsome as a dragon.”
“As fearsome as a dragon you say?” Hina asked while she stepped closer to the other maiden. "If that's the case, then why are you out here alone?"
Silence formed between them as Koyomi seemed unamused by the question.
“I’m not afraid of the wizard.” She slowly began to back away into the trees as Hina started to follow. "But that doesn’t mean that you should stick around.”
“Why shouldn’t I?”
“Because…he’s not afraid of you.”

Haruto, at the store, and the new magic ring he got gave him a squeaky voice
Now this here is goofs of the purest kind and I appreciate the opportunity to write them.
Haruto hasn’t taken his guitar out of its stand for ages. At first he’d been too busy, and then with Koyomi gone it seemed disrespectful to want to sit around making music, and then he just...didn’t think of it. When he reaches for it, though, the neck still fits in his hand like it always did, and he sits down and rests it on his knee and feels abruptly at home. Smiling, he strums a chord--and winces. It is badly out of tune.
It’s been long enough that it takes him nearly five minutes to get the guitar tuned again, and it could use some new strings, but it’s a good instrument. Once it’s in working order he stares at it for moment, and then starts on a song that he used to play for Koyomi sometimes, when she was having trouble sleeping.
A few minutes later, Shunpei comes out of the workshop and brightens up at the sight of him. “Haruto! I didn’t realize you were here! I mean I guess I should have figured, I heard the guitar, but still.”
Haruto sets the guitar aside and waves. “Yeah, I got here...twenty minutes ago? Haven’t played in ages, I’m rusty. Where’s Wajima?”
“It sounded good, though. He went out for groceries.” Shunpei holds up something small and gleaming. “I finished a ring! Would you like to try it out?”
“Sure, let me see it.” He plucks the ring from the air when Shunpei tosses it. It’s as bulky and heavy as any other, the band decorated with the little curlicues he recognizes from the other couple that Shunpei’s made. The face of it depicts a dragon holding a balloon and looking very cheery. “It’s cute. Maybe it’ll make me lighter or something.”
“Yeah, I’m not sure.”
He slides it onto his finger and activates the spell, and the Driver’s sing-song voice says, “Helium, PLEASE!”
Nothing happens immediately. He stands up and hops experimentally, but he weighs just as much as he did before. Nothing around him is floating, and there aren’t any balloons in evidence. “I wonder what it--holy shit.”
Shunpei’s eyes go wide. “Were you just--is your voice...?”
“I’ve gotten...squeaky.”
There’s a long, tense pause before Shunpei claps his hands over his mouth, face going red as he tries to suppress laughter. “Oh no, helium. That’s what it means.”
Haruto shrugs. “It could be worse. At least it’s not another bad-smell one. Wow, I sound ridiculous.” He laughs, and the laughter sounds even more absurd than speech does, which makes him laugh harder. Shunpei makes a choking noise and has to grab the wall with one hand for support as he giggles hysterically.
The bell over the door rings, and before they can collect themselves Rinko steps through the doorway and immediately freezes. “I see I missed something. What’s funny?”
Haruto grins at her. “Shunpei made me a new ring.”
She stares at him in shock for a moment before breaking down and letting out a shriek of laughter. “And it does that?”
Shunpei pulls himself together enough to gasp out, “It’s the Helium ring.”
“Oh no!”
“Imagine the notes I could hit.” Haruto gazes in delight at the ring on his hand. “I could set myself up as a novelty act.”
“Haruto. Haruto.” Shunpei sucks in a deep breath and forces himself to stop laughing. “Use it on me, I’ll go buy some doughnuts, Owner won’t know what to think.”
